I started a game before Mistlands. Hildir came when I was at plains beginning. I finished mistlands when Ashlands were out, and killed the Queen and reached the south just before Bog witch.

I hope they do a polar opposite of the ashlands with the deep north where a majority of the danger of the biome is relegated to optional areas like dungeons. Give people the option to actually choose when they want bullshit levels of danger as opposed to constant paranoia. It would also let them be able to get more creative with environmental danger since you dont have to worry about balancing enemies and surrounding hazards at the same time.

Imagine boat sledding down the side of a deep north mountain as an avalanche approaches you and you have no other choice. Skipping between glacier to glacier to traverse near-frozen rivers. sounds cool, just give me more ambiance and atmosphere damnit

not sure what "strewberry" is but if you mean farming for wild berries, nope, not possible, you'll have to forage them in the wild, good thing to pin on map large patches as they respawn in the same bushes over time (about 10 in game days iirc)

eheh, yup, it probably won't change as it's an intended feature, but personally i find it a pleasant activity, also not too much time consuming if you pin enough good areas and cycle them, also watch out damaging berry bushes through woodcutting / mob fighting, as the berries won't respawn once the bush is destroyed

I built my main castle in black forest, close to a coast. That is pretty cool with the pines around, and greydwarfs can sometimes help you to distract raids. Biggest issues are : annoying greydwarfs throwing stones on your walls if you didn’t claimed enough perimeter (spawn area of mobs can be occupied with fire, crafting stations, etc…) and occasional troll smashing your wall.

But with valheim the game gets unplayable (especially for lower end PC's) at about 10,000 or so instances (going off the experience of me and 3 other friends... might differ). Considering dense biomes already start with 3000 instances on average, higher somewhere like the black forest, only being allowed so little instances, especially when the game incentivizes things like breeding livestock which are hefty in instances, is awful and takes a lot away from the game. I should be able to build to a reasonable degree and to my heart's desire without the game quickly becoming unplayable.

Increasing the instance count by optimization would literally only support the developers as it doesnt instantly shy away people from the game who might not have good PC setups. I have told multiple friends who were interested in the game's sandbox element to not buy the game because the optimization is abhorrent.

10k might be nothing to you, but it is something to me and my friends, clearly. I can run DoS II on my pc at 60 fps on reasonable settings. My PC will explode if i try running my 10k instance valheim world on anything beyond the lowest settings. That's not normal

"Optimization" isn't a magic word. There are sometimes things that can be optimized and made more efficient, but there are also necessary calculations. At some point those things collide and you need to choose one or the other. Game developers never consciously make things slower, but I know that they've also picked a lot of the low-hanging optimization fruit in Valheim as it is and a lot of things going forward seem to look like they may require tradeoffs rather than just cleverness.

Keep in mind you can only breed a certain amount in a certain area.

I had to take over a Draugr village, place workbenches so I could repair the houses, then started with a single pair of wolves in one house, waited until the cubs had grown into adults, move those to another house and so on until I had 4-5 houses with a pair of wolves.
While staying near the center of that village myself to keep the required "being nearby" modifier for breeding.

Took me quite some time to breed that 40 wolves that way, although things go faster once you got multiple pairs to breed with.
But given how the fight went, I think it was worth it.

We haven't got any starred wolves unfortunately but hoping we have the numbers. I will build a shrine to the fallen after the battle. We need to build a bridge/pathway to the battle first. Level 1 wolves are less impressive for Yagluth, my first kill was with a hell of a lot of 2 star ones, that was a tad over 4 years ago though. I had 2 breeding drop towers in a plains near the Yagluth altar.

If so, it's part of Hildir's Quest.
And yes, it can be quite difficult if you don't use the right method. Even with multiple persons.
Getting in is one of the problems, dealing with the monsters and the last mini-bosses is even harder.

But in the end it's also quite fun to do that tower.

yup just got into arbalest fighting and it's an awesome gjall killer, if you manage to take the first shot in orange area before it detects you its health will drop by half, i use a demolisher on the side to get rid of tick waves almost instantly

uhm, probably some weird colliding box, usually vertical pickaxe clearance (you swing your pickaxe under the vein and it doesn't hit) is more than enough, for horizontal i use a 2m beam to measure and exceed a bit to be sure.. this way i almost never failed a silver vein pop.

oh and ofc other rocks, trees and player built structures must be cleared from the area as well

This is an appreciation for post for the developer & artists of the game. I quite literally plan a holiday with my friends amidst a busy week or a holiday season to replay Valheim. I cannot believe how much I love the feeling of conquering biomes and then building your safe-houses in each biome.
