Too much work for basically no reward.
The extra drops are so few and far between and low amounts so this doesn't work as an incentive to go out fishing.
The food made from fish is mediocre at best until you get to Fish n' bread from anglerfish.
The only interesting fish are: anglerfish and pufferfish because they bring something new.
All the rest of the fish is just basically the same except that you need to make special bait that you first need to find trophies for.
So why go trough all the trouble making the bait if the basic bait for basic fish yields almost exactly the same results.

most fishing mini games i've interacted with are just anti-automation checks. I like the current Valheim system for bites and catches, another meadows tier fish would help the early stages of catching and gaining skill.

I'm kinda ok having limited rewards, and relegating fishing to a side-quest -- however the level of effort is WAAAYYY disproportionate to what you get from fishing. In order for fishing to be successful with low rewards IMO -- it needs to evoke the chill, easy sense of actual fishing: chilling in a rowboat on a sunday morning, not some frenetic smash your keyboard while lathering at the mouth type of activity

I would want each fish type to get a dish, and not just being converted to generic filets. The dishes being additive stamina recipes to support the fishing activity would be excellent.

No, I get that.
As of now it just isn't interesting even to just pass time or do.
I do want to fish some anglerfish and pufferfish but to do that, I first need to get trophies and maybe get some better fishing skill or abuse the walking backwards while the fish is hooked shenanigans.

So either the fish shouldn't drain that much stamina to reel in or it should work more like real fishing.
If the fish is struggling you let the fish be or use lots of stamina to reel it in but the fish can't take more line, if the fish is tired and stops struggling you can reel in with much less stamina drain.

Some fish could bring something extra to the game.
Troll fish could lead to a potion / mead / food that gives healing properties like really fast regeneration, same amount as other healing potions of the same tier but just faster.
Other fish could get some extra uses as well or more food recipes compared to the biome you fish them in.

The mechanic needs some checking as well, the bigger the fish the harder it should be to reel in but the small fish should be relatively simple to catch.
Now each and every fish is exactly as hard as the previous fish, no matter how big or small it is.

Commands? Not really... the biggest things that help performance in big builds are XMP/DOCP, a fast CPU, and just not making them 😉 If you're over about 10-15k instances you will just start running into lag regardless.

You can also reduce point lights and point light shadows, or remove torches and such. That can also help.

You can get lox, which are supposed to be support mounts for all intents and purposes. Though WE can't attach loads to them, Hildir and Haldor seem to have no problem getting them to drag carriages, so maybe they will fill the role in the future?

Yeah, that's also true. I think we'll get a new one in Deep North though. I just wish that for any weapon type that is skipped, the previous biome's stays viable. I see this with Himmin, Iron Bucker (skipped 2 biomes), Dragur Fang does fine in Plains, no mace for Mistlands but Frostner does a fine job, but Skoll and Hati doesn't really cut it in Ashlands, especially with almost everything resistant to pierce.

First three have wide attacks, and procs are individual, that would mean being able to paralyze several enemies at the same time, proc chain lightning several times.

And knives have high attack speed, which thunder and nature benefit on as well

i tried using an iron atgeir to fight a troll. the attack speed was too slow. compared to a sword. with an atgeir i could barely kill 1 troll. with a sword i killed 3.

atgeir are more about crowd control, swords are more single target. that makes swords faster but you loose the AOE of the power strike that the atgeir has in exchange. so unless you are fighting a group or something you want to keep at more than arms length, swords are better overall.

Knives are a consistently viable option.

And I would argue generally better than swords until you get to mistwalker.

Against small mobs, both the knife and sword generally kill anything in the same number of hits, but the knife does it faster. Against lox and other big stuff, the knife ends up with better DPS in practice because it gets more hits within stagger windows.

My uneducated 2 cents: Having a cloak with frost resist makes it so you can explore the mountains without dying to cold not just when when it's at your level of progression, but also beyond. Going forward it allows you to return to the mountain biome, or at least pass through it towards your destination, without needing to carry a special "mountain biome" cloak, which would take up valuable inventory space. Additionally it prevents your character from feeling "cold", which reduces your stamina regeneration.

Beyond that, it's been said that the "Deep North" is the next biome, so I'd assume that frost resist will be pretty important there as well. 🙂

This is just incorrect. You certainly need to learn how to handle enemies in large amounts, but there are challenging ones that requires learning new movements. For example, the feint attacks from warriors is a challenge, askvin come in groups and close gaps with their pounce and headbutts, voltures and valkeryes can usually catch up to ya. It's the second last biome with war and chaos as a theme, there will obviously be a lot of them, but tools are available to you to overcome it.

You have stamina meads, frost weapons to slow things down, range weapons that can literally immobilize things in place, lightning weapons to chain attacks on multiple enemies, AOE weapons..

Prolly because Mistlands doesn't spam you. Once you learn enemy attacks, it's pretty easy to just parry and kill them. They still hit pretty hard though, and the Dvergrs are on a whole another level.

I would remember that the game is very much in an early access state where the balance is focused entirely on the Normal difficulty, and where other difficulties are mostly just damage scale differences without too much work put into them.

Smiffe has shared fairly recently that a large rebalance pass is planned roughly sometime after Deep North

To add to the Ashlands discussion, I feel that the mob spawn rate is way too high. I hope it's ballanced to be less. Not everyone play multiplayer and seems that this biome is forcing it.

I think that on normal difficulty (which is the one they focus on) the difficulty jump makes sense. I think The boss is also pretty good, his attacks hurts and his spawned enemies are nothing more than a small annoyance, which is quite a contrast with The Queen spawning in Seekers.

m3 8gb ram air - kinda better than custom macos x86 port with rosetta
30% resolution (4k display), lowest settings, vsync (without vsync fps goes way down, lol), ssao + view distance at high to deal with constant world loading/unloading kinda doing the trick and leading to 60 fps until you faced some particles or complex geometry at various locations (black forest, swamps)

anyways for me seeing that unity can do such performance is great
but i don't think i can complete my walkthrough with that state, hope some black magic happens and it be more playable soon

I’m pretty sure that it’s because you’re using a 8GB version, you are going to get the same problem with many ports, remember that the system need to use some ram too, so you aren’t using 8GB for the game. I have a 16GB version and will let you know later my test, but from my experience with others games, even from 8GB vs 16Gb you are going to have a least better experience + remember air don’t have fans and in some point system will throttle, that’s a fact because there no room and can to dissipate the heat

I just ran around the forsaken stones and had a fistfight with a Greyling.

At 50% res it's pegged at 60fps.

With 8GB of RAM you need to lower resolution and details, no way around it. 8GB is just not good enough.

How to play valheim Ashland’s update:

Step one: craft a Higgins Boat (you and your fellow vikings are gonna need it!)

Step two: craft some m1 garands for everyone and military gear (theres no viking that isnt prepared)

Step 3: sail south till you hit the warm yet extremely hot waters of ash lands

Step 4: once you see land make sure you (the captain has a timing on when you’ll hit land it will be very chaotic)

Step 5: hit land and drop the ramp! Everyone out of the boat its war make sure you find cover quick those charred skeltons are gonna be spraying the mg42’s!

I tried the version from the App Store, and I can't connect to the remote server. If I download the version from steam, I can connect to the server. But here Steam gives me cloud sync errors...

@tardy vale i just fased the problem. It's happened 1st time at 6400 hours of gameplay. The problem is next - for some reason, and idkn why, somehow my "building pieces rotation become inversed". I already just tried to reset my key bindings. ( even restart the game and relaunch PC ). It's still the same.
And now - when it's happened my mind just going to explode because of this. Do you know how to fix that? Cause i'm just going to freak-out😅 ( i mean my muscle memories and my visual reaction just not mutch anymore )
