There are still a few outstanding bugs in the current test beta that's the main engine upgrade, IG is working to try to make sure there are minimal to zero known bugs in the main branch before adding the Ashlands content so that testing can be more accurate.

The reason people are confused is because usually when you share these recommendations the public test update is usually available or coming soon - otherwise why make an article now about how to set up for the public test update? We just started a new server a week ago, but with the update that came today we're just gonna cancel the server and start a new one when Ashlands is out. Does anyone have a clue when it's coming? The vague "it's around the corner" means so many different things to different people and companies, it's driving me nuts xD

Yeah, there is not much clarity. The current public test beta needs some testing and some minor fixes to hopefully get everything set up and ready for Ashlands, and it will be after that. The only guarantee is before the end of June, but things are definitely moving forward.

The good news is that existing worlds should upgrade fine to the Ashlands as long as you don't explore them yet, so if you start now you should be getting close to that tier of progress by the time it releases (depending on how hard y'all grind)

They are pretty rare. They only have a 5% drop rate, so 1/20. I'm guessing "hundreds" is a bit of an exaggeration, but even if you had killed 100 you're not too far off the odds of not seeing one.

We are running 3 mods though. Maybe that's interfering with it? Also couldnt get the hot tub to work.

Entirely possible. Everything is on the table with mods, they hook into all kinds of things depending on the mod. The hot tub has to be lit in order to add comfort, and has to be able to exhaust smoke like a fire.

Yeah, one of the mods we run makes so everything always burns with no need to refill wood or resin. And the guys are adamant we have to use a mod that allows us to build without gravity issues

I’ve never played a game with more replayability. The massive procedural world paired with building your own hub differently each time does give it combinations I’ve yet to see in any other game. Variations do exist , none have the freedom of Valheim

Greetings, I'm returning to valheim from a long hiatus and my friend and I have constructed a fairly large base. I'm starting to notice some severe framerate drops/lag in the base.
I recall years ago that extensive terrain modification could cause some of this? But I think maybe that doesn't happen anymore?

What can I do to improve performance in the base? Do I need to lower graphics settings? Or is this just an expected result of a high number of construction pieces, decorations, torches etc?

The Xbox unfortunately doesn't support any mods, so the only way it would be the same is if the mods didn't affect any of the vanilla behavior. No new items or materials, that kind of thing.

Hah. Yeah, for sure. Lots of FOMO in the game if you're not careful, too. I really only do the raids if they're happening when I am in the area with the game open, and I'll sometimes make time for the community days to get all the shinies and such

Even if you're over 100 servers and you lose Nitro, you don't get kicked from random servers, you just can't join any more; and if you leave any you can't rejoin until you go back down to under 100.

Oh, we don't moderate anything regarding to dedicated servers. FYI, there's no such thing as an 'official' Valheim (game) server, every single one is community run.

Yep. And being kicked/banned from a game server often means 1 of 2 things:
1.) You did something to deserve it, making it your fault, not theirs, or
2.) You didn't do anything wrong, in which case they aren't people worth playing with anyway and you should move on and find people actually worth playing with.

if you lose the saves on your PC or the PC itself, they're gone or you only have outdated cloud copies of them left. that's about the only downside i can think of.
i keep all of my saves on local, more convenient to make manual backups that way.
