Should I just make a water tower if I'm going to stack refineries vertically? Currently using a pump at each level to raise the fluid to the next set.
yo people is there a way to see total power used on satisfactory modeler?
Raise the water up all the way once, then send it down to the refineries
Essentially a water tower lol
I always have trouble with fluids, so anything that prevents problems down the line
Yeah it's going to be a lot easier to take the water all the way to the top first, then feed it downwards
Alright sounds fine
fair point. I considered it but the area im building in has 6 pure iron nodes and is already a cluster fuck that building a robust refinery on top of it all would be most trouble than it's worth.
You can do this, but people think they should top it with a buffer--you shouldn't. Just make a loop that goes to the top and back down, using water pumps, then connect the refineries to the loop as needed after it's full.
one of my self imposed rules for this playthrough has been not immediately rushing to west sea for flat land. The addional challenge of building elegant factories with inconsistent terrain has been fun.
im doing that unintentionally lol
Yea I know I don't need a buffer, just kind of stuck in my head I guess. It's not like I'm going to build a fancy tower for this. It's just pipes and pumps going up.
who know what price satis will have on the winter sale?
I think people mostly do this because real water towers also have some storage capacity, but in game they cause more problems than they solve.
Tbh I don't think the buffer takes anything away and it looks nice
clip the pipe through it then. same looks, no issues
The buffer requires extra headlift and then you have to ensure it's always full or it messes with the flow rate of the pipes
If they aren't full, they cause massive sloshing
And the flow rate is influenced by the ratio of how full they are(n't)
Oh I didn't know that
yeah buffers are practically never a good option (apart from buffering train stations)
The only real legitimate use for them is to stage liquids for transportation (by trains for now, trucks in the next update)
guys does the game still add content in itsu pdates or what have they become?
traffic lights
oh wow, thanks discord for doing the thing where you arent at the bottom of chat
I love when it does this
No way to know for sure. Steamdb often keeps price history, a third party web app, and its a way to gauge trends, but its not a guarantee.
ok, ty
nobody except maybe devs and they won't announce it for obvious reasons
(it's also possible it won't be on sale)
I don't think we'll see anything big like new ores or tiers, but there are new things. Like in 1.1 they added priority mergers and some other odds and ends
depends on what you consider content
thats not enough
I mean they said that the game is practically feature complete
equal to or less than it's current price
well that's probably all we'll get, game is released and it's not live service
so we won't be getting big new features
spline foundations
there's a mod for that
logic gates is possible
you sure about that? π

Q&A: What's the Satisfactory 5-year plan?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGX4HqoypQg
I'm not sure actually, more machines and stuff would be sweet, but I don't expect it for a finished game.
there's a difference between "released" and "finished"
mikael has a deep voice, sexy π
If I had to put money on it, it'll probably get the Grim Dawn treatment--game is "finished" from the standpoint of being a complete, released product, but they will probably continue to do small updates here and there between occasional larger (paid) expansions several years apart.

Q&A: Mikel body pillow, when? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpDK-CNq8yo
minimum viable product vs. "we have no more ideas that are financially viable to develop"

"Satisfactory could've hit 1.0 without trains"
discuss
Hmm so they are thinking about expansions or similar
I don't really consider it either of those
This is speculation on my part. I don't know what they are thinking.
I mean he pretty much said it
He didn't promise anything, but said they were looking at options
I'm just looking at it from the perspective of non-Live Service that they may want to continue development for, but whose staff still need to eat
I hope they are working on a sequel, dlc would be fine too
live service is the same as putting the true ending in paid DLC
I would like them to expand into more water-based stuff for potential expansion content. Building stuff under lakes or in the sea.
the real questions is when factorio is getting an update
"just play subnautica" is the official stance, last I checked
This makes no sense
nahh
factorio devs are going to work on other projects and only do bugfixes
I get that, but that game has a different vibe entirely
in terms of story content, not having the ending be in the initial release
Oh ok
satisfactory:
= spoopy
subnautica: π = your spoopy is wet
Wasn't sure what you meant by it, because Live Service means something in particular and SF doesn't really do that
pumping up and connecting pipes to go down seems to be working. Time to put it to the test and sink some output.
content is ongoing vs. all the content there at release
help
I can't launch Satisfactory
every time I try it says I'm missing SML
whatever that is
you uninstalled your mods incorrectly
hrm, so i have this blueprint i got off the scim site whenever i got to place it its just a shadow and not really there?
I uninstalled my game and reinstalled it on a different drive
Did you get both files?
Yeah, Grim Dawn and Diablo 2 were definitely not "Live Service," but each content step was "complete" at release. This is why a paid expansion is still fine without falling under that umbrella.
Quick google suggests it's still trying to load SML from somewhere
were they "true ending in the dlc" tho?
Possibly your appdata structure
never needed them before? just the one
Depends what you mean by "true ending."
"cliffhanger unless you give us money"
where does the cfg file go then? same folder?
same folder
hmm, same issue as before except the bluprint icon is diff π
Why are pipelines so weird?
insufficient feedback on the internal fluid simulation
oh this is weird
Like I have a pipeline with 600 crude oil, hooked up to 20 Refineries that each take 30/min. Why are some not filling up and others are over-filled all the time?
i went under the foundation i placed it on and its loading/building in
is there any way to fix this
you might need to restart the game after getting new blueprints
Yeah, gonna have to reject this premise, actually. That's not what "Live Service" means at all. It's a particular business model and one that isn't tied to how an ending is handled--many don't even have (or plan to have) any real endings.
well of course not.
I was explaining "true ending in the dlc"
Still has nothing to do with Live Service, though
never said it did
Then what is this about?
that is about me multi-tasking and not paying full attention to my own argument
the same in terms of "not a finished product"
different business models tho
Ah, fair enough
You meant it as an analogy
I thought you were meaning it definitionally
so Satis 1.0 is a released product, rather than being released in an incomplete state with paid DLC or a live service model releasing the already-planned content for it to be a full release
hence my suggestion that Satis could've done a 1.0 release without trains
Right
buuuut it's not a finished game
In the sense that it can be seen as a complete released product, it is
In the sense that they can always add more, it isn't
released = you're not missing out on anything should any further development plans be cancelled
live service / true-ending-in-the-dlc get cancelled? you're s.o.l. in knowing how the story ends
see also why early access release model gets flak when studios never do a full release
I think when it comes to SF, I have an inverted view on it
The story was more of an afterthought, so if they ever finish it, I'll see that as "bonus"
ehhh.... not an afterthought if they spent years on it
It was never the main focus of the game
not the same as being an afterthought
If you played the game with no sound and ADA off, it changes nothing about the gameplay.
Seems pretty afterthought to me
optional
not being a core part of the gameplay experience is not the same as being an afterthought
The core gameplay is complete, though, and that's what actually matters
-# insert joke about QC being an afterthought at bethesda here
the dimensional depot has totally changed the game for me :/
Yeah, it does
i went out last night to find a hdd recipe and spent 8 hours just circling the map on my hoverpack and netting the map in power lines
afterthought would be more.... awkwardly shoehorned in, conflicts with gameplay etc. etc.
It can also be just tacked on--and that's the vibe it gives
not sure how some of these blueprints have water extractors in them high up out of the possiblity of water and yet still function
Wym?
there's no water and they be extracting water?
What blueprints?
just about all of the ones i have found so far
You mean recipes?
I'm going to guess that the water is a byproduct of a recipe or you are intended to hook up external water to it
pure iron ingot and wet concrete in this blueprint so no water byproduct
guys i was tring to make turbo fuel but im having issues
Yeah, that only makes sense if you attach external water--so he probably just deleted the connecting pipes for the purposes of the screenshot
i connected fuel inputs to refinieries and filled them with compacted coal beforehand
but they dont take fuel for some reason?
i was relying on fuel enerygy before this and connected my all my fuel production to turbo fuel production and then turbo fuel to generators
You have the right recipe selected?
Well, if you don't have power, they won't draw from the pipes
i had power but i run out of it and they didnt pull fuel from pipelines while everything was working
because they didnt pull im out of power right now
Then y ou have a pipe issue, or the refiners making the fuel have an issue
pipes have fuel
refineries dont pull from pipes i tried reconnecting but doesnt work
They have power lines connected?
yes
You should make a thread in #1038092680493801533 with screenshots
bro its so cringe do i have to make new coal power plant just to make them work now?
Unless you can get some of the old fuel gets to work
Set up a burner array to kick start a couple of them
i have no fuel in the generators
the extractors are producing water though without being in water and there's no external feed to provide water
i guess i isolate my fuel power plant and use biofuel to start πππ
That would only work with mods unless there's other important info you (or the author) have left out
i just placed the blueprint π
only mod i have is the larger blueprint size extension
With the default blueprint designer in game, you can't even place water extractors in it
Even if you put the design frame in the water
I have tested this
i wonder if the author built the blueprint with mods and they saved with the blueprint?
I would assume so, because extractors only check to be placed in the water, but I don't think their ability to draw water actually depends on that--because why would they be if placement prohibits invalid configurations?
hmm, so all they need is a mod to allow the extractor to be placed in with the print and they just work?
That's how it seems
I would assume this is specifically why they can't be placed in the bp designer
also seems the bp placement doesnt know/check if items are available via dimensional depot
black start time baby gotta love it
scenegraph shenanigans about bp designer not having a water tank π
Hello
hello
Anyone going through the fixsmas calendar
I havenβt started because of high school exams
Nice
quantum machines?
uh, for the event, not that i know of, seems ficsmas is catered to beginner level to make it accessible to all
Makes sense
most you need are assemblers
Makes sense. They want everyone to enjoy the experience
What are you working on in your world right now
Hi, is there a mod that disables "too steep" feature?
RCU automation.... because i've been just fixing everything in my world rather than actually progressing lmao
Yes there is
How is that mod called ? Thank you in advance.
i've been sitting on the same milestone for months on end, i like that the game is very....self-paced albeit at the kittens and puppies expense
Right now I am working on a nuclear power plant
Not sure what itβs called but let me check
Btw are you talking about the warnings when you start up the game
No i want to build very steep conveyor belts
looks at conveyor lifts
LOL
i can't fit in that one
?
I like that about it to
β¬β¬

β¬β¬
β¬β¬
β¬β¬
πββοΈββ‘οΈ

horizontal lifts when
Yea
lift belts when
ππ₯οΈ
I thank everyone for the alternatives, but i just want steep conveyor belts
why do truck stations sometimes just... ignore me pressing F to tell the station to load/unload? truck cargo bay is fully empty...
Me when I use 100% of my brain power on something other that a factory
they are....buggy at times, you gotta go back in and out a few times
0.1.5
you need to not be moving at all i had the some problem
i really wish traffic lights were a thing for truck networks, but i can see why that might be a bit... hard to implement
tetotetotetotetotetotetoteto
Yea
not having the things deadlock for that 1% scenario where they cross paths on a 2 way lane would be nice
I thought i'd check in on the Discord server if anyone knows such mod, because people here are bound to be more knowledgeable than any in other place
oddly in autopilot mode, they begin the unloading (both stack removal and the animation) several seconds before the truck physically stops... it's only during manual piloting that it's having issues
yes yes
stoplight = force deadlock state
is a 1km long conveyor belt cool tho?
I hate fluids
that's a bit short
Soon they will be fixed
serious?
i've done cross map belts before, i'm trying NOT to this time, hence the trucks
ahhhhhh
I just had to learn actual fluid mechanics to make something work
im really looking forward to fluid trucks in the next update
SCIM says one of my saves has ~9km of belt
coul anyone explain how this works with no water?
https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/blueprints/index/details/id/11015/name/Coal+Power+Plant
dayum bro wth
Btw who here is an organized player
i wan thinking of just doing a long 1km foundations road thats 3 or 4 foundations wide then making traffic on it
me i have personal storages
I like to have neat factories
i like to have completely unfinished but efficient factories lol
i sincerely apologize for touching this game
ignore the fact none of them have proper ceilings..... theres been a construction worker shortage lately....
everybody starts with spaghett
im too lazy to get steel so i spent 70 AWESOME tickets buying em
NOOOOOO
Noooooooooooo
and finishes with lazagna
Itβs so inefficient
sweet beans in a basket
nu, some people finish with spaghett
thats 70 tickets you could have spent towards the golden nut
its okay i have 2 nuts already
[archer voice] phrasing
okay thats 70 tickets you could have spent towards a THIRD golden nut
GOSH-
no i meant an other kind of nut
Anyone want to play In a new world with me
i'm hungry.... Grill me a cheese.....
will america conquer the planet instead if i produce inefficient oil refineries?
(out of pure anger and capitalism)
so...many train lines..... im going insane
...is me putting foundations in front of my truck stops, 1m below the level of the stop, what might be causing problems?
They know how to use the resources better than you do, so... maybe
Is that when you mentally unlock verticality
what's verticality
You'll know it when you get there
W I D E factory
Eldritch horror beyond your comprehension. A factory that is impossibly wide. Whatever room you're in, the factory is wider than that. Imagine the widest room you can imagine. This factory is wider than that. Its other proportions remain the same. Its name is Wide Factory.
Hi guys i just bought satisfactory, its like my first ever game to play in my life, is this good worth game will satisfy my needs as a hard working network engineer student?
If you already have full-time responsibilities, it may not be wise to start playing this
Play Factorio instead
i got like 20 hours free time across my whole week
Took em from one deep end to an even deeper end
I actually find SF easier to sink into than Factorio
i must see this factorio too is it on steam?
Ya
ah i dont like 2d
Yeah, Sf is much prettier
i seen the game on youtube
steam says 153hrs in the past 2 weeks...
i may have a problem
nah its only a problem when you are spending more hours than are actually in 2 weeks
why can't i sloop my time
2 weeks? jeez bro you unemployed?
in between projects, so yesn't
guys do i lose items per min carry potential if i use trains?
A train route will have a maximum throughput for a single car, based on the round-trip time of the train and the stack size of the item
But if you're successfully putting (say) 400/min into a train car, you'll get 400/min out on the far side
Maximum total throughput for a single car/platform is less than 2x your max belt speed, since the station stops transferring while the train is docking
But if you find that your route exceeds the throughput capacity of a single car, remember you can always just add another and split between 'em
hm, tbh this game might suit me then. I need some mental time so this game might be my go to
mental health is so important these days
i mean it will stop you from thinking about anything else if you properly dive in
you decide if that's healthy
your cognitive patterns will be rewritten with the optimal math behind 100% efficient factories
i got a routine
For now*
π
I will tell you that what they both said about it becoming the only thing you think about is absolutely true
i dont think it will tbh no way
what could go wrong as soon as i click play for first tme ever
just make sure you have a notepad or something to take notes when you play
clarkson 'how hard can it be?' moment
whys that, is there like planning and such?
So, mostly people are just meme'ing... but there is real potential for it to be addictive, depending on your personality type
yeah on a serious note i can't recommend it enough
im in the main menu and i think im going to marry my pc soon thinking about it
Yes, unless you are insane and want spaghetti, then no planning just slap something together and make it work
I seriously do think about this game all the time
(same but i like it)
do i do tutorial or do i be stupid and go for skip
oh ye where do i start
i like the desert
Do the tutorial
If you skip and then ask questions in here which are answered in the tutorial, you'll be getting silently judged, fwiw. :D
Any starting zone will work. It's all on the same map
Do it. It's nice.
oh i thought its 4 worlds
a lot of people start in grassy fields but each of the starting locations have their ups and downs that become known as some point
I haven't set up any production in like 30 game hours, I'm just trying to route every resource on the map to my future mega factory
eventually the ups and downs dont matter as you expand anyway
The descriptions given on the selection screen are accurate
Most challenging lets say
Pick whatever you want; in the end it doesn't matter
And I'll additionally add that you're going to have a hard time with this game if you can't make that kind of decision on your own. :)
There are vanishingly few "right" answers for things in this game. At its core it's a sandbox game. Do what you want to, and have fun!
i lowkey wanna pick all 4 zones, i hate deciding my fate in a split
I mean, it's not your fate, though?
grassy fields is great for learning to build, northern forest has lots of height variation so it can be painful early game, deserts have LOADS of stuff so you won't have to expand until oil
Grassy fields is always fun for the T3 realisation of "oh, oh no i need to travel THAT far"
Pick one, build a factory. Walk to another place and build your next factory there.
yeah LMAO
The game will be frequently encouraging you to expand across the map anyway
ill bury the whole map under my 1 big concreete floor
I hate Grasslands and don't recommend it to ANYONE--newb or not
me hitting the scan for oil and getting increasingly more worried as it takes longer and longer to find oil
If you like. Sounds boring to me, but you do you. :)
It's still very doable tho
the swamp must always be paved
You can always move to a different starting area. I did that. I started in grass fields and I moved to dune desert
grasslands, why is it shit?
oil
Contrariwise, I'm quite fond of grasslands, and think it's a great start for both newbies and older players alike
Resources are too mild for my tastes
It's not. Some people just have Opinions.
at this rate i wanna pick the moon
oil is 1km away from grasslands spawn so it forces you to build infrastructure, which is what i kinda like about the grasslands tbh
wheres the map for moon
Which will be another frequent occurance when you ask "what should I do" type questions in the server
Grass Fields is pretty but it is fairly sparse in resources
You're gonna get twelve conflicting opinions within the space of a few minutes
So, again: just do whatever you want. It's fine. If you don't like your starting spot, just pick up some resources and go elsewhere.
It is sufficient to start however
Spoiler, but this is the reason:

you know what, lets do a quick poll, tell me all of you guys which zone to pick and the most answers i pick that. i cant decide for myself
How about not?
Seriously. If you can't make this decision, you're going to have a real hard time with this game
wait what....nobellisks can drop from the sky?
Dune desert
i need decision regardless
OH MY GOD
I don't want to tell you what to pick. I'll only say that you might enjoy NOT picking Grasslands π
Just roll a D4. If you don't have one, you can find many die-rollers online
Going once, going twice! dune desert?
By the same token, they might not enjoy any of the other spots
i cannot belive i fell for that....
Grass Fields is great as a start.
dewit
If you don't like it, fine, but there's no reason to try and convince a new player who's never even opened the game that it's somehow bad
alright im starting on desert (technically its mars)
Wait til this man has to choose balancers or manifolds
it's massage 22 a/b
Grass Fields
Rocky Desert
Northern Forest
Dune Desert
One is Mars, one is Mercury
thank you all for this amazing time of making me suffer in dune, i hope to come back here to beg for questions (hopefully not)
That's what #1038092680493801533 is for
and yeah i guess i get started
exactly you straight on point!
There actually is quite a bit of biomass in Dune desert if you go to the right place
dont even know what that is what ill try
okay, fair play coffee stain, you actually got me good with that "totally normal ficsmas gift"
Leaves and wood for early fuel
not an expected result
ah
Usually when someone says something is "totally normal," it's not lol
why is this ai thing talking to me
You mean NPC?
its making my ears bleed
idk
i didnt think it would BLOW UP lmao, i just thought it was an odd pick up
oh hell no, not the microsoft shit
I bet you were blown away
It actually scared me
if i can change it to the voice of that hot ai thats in gta online mansion, please tell me right away
π
Don't know which one you're talking about. I don't play bad games.
oh you good boy?
Same
yall give me some tips early on
Don't die
i dont even know how to die
You're doing well so far then
Build a factory
i liked ada until she said i had 'a glaring inefficiency i hadn't fixed' in a late tier
friendship with ada β mercer sphere is my new bestie
you wanna build that for me? ill design the architecture behind it
im glad there isnt any scorpians in this bloody desert, its pitch black
Just wanna say in my hundreds of hours of playing, I have finally started making Adaptive Control Units
skull him up
Maybe you just can't see them. Did you know they glow under a black light?
experiment on your own, don't watch videos or guides π

that Kibbles guy made me think my factories were inferior. but now i know theyre mine and theyre great!
did it makes stuff?
yes
welp, at least i got 20 nobelisks for my miniature heart attack
then its fine
Good morning
The more I play satisfactory the more time I lose to play satisfactory. I must wake up earlier
It's a vicious cycle
I built an aluminum plant that worked for like 10 minutes before stopping.
Kibitz?
I can't see the reason why though
Before death as well, just gotta climb them first.
Loads of potential reasons, but most likely one is liquid output is full and isn't being used
Where are steam screenshots saved?
ooooooOOooh, kickstarter rewards from the last Heroic Replica thing showed up!
Nevermind I posted in #screenshots
like they said, output clogged
likely the next one in the chain is full of water on output - that's what tends to stall an alu setup
Can I make my train station unload only plastic from one entrance and PCBs from the other?
The locomotive will "dock" at the forward "station" bit, and then each loading platform/car can be configured to load/unload (with other optional settings as well)
The alumina is being sent to another refinery to turn into aluminum scrap but it is also sitting idle
His latest fuel plant inspired my oil plant
If you want to have two cars deliver to two stations, just make sure you've got two freight platforms set to unload
I rerouted the output water back into the system
Are you sure it isnβt clogged, is switched on, etc
add in a few fluid buffers and check that you're producing the net from water extractors, not the initial needed amount
it's got too much alumina solution in it, another batch would overfill
saw your screenshot
Itβs cloggedβ¦
This much I know, I have one docking station set up and I'd like the one station to unload only plastic from one hole and PCBs from the second one, since that'd be more effective than just putting both of theese through smart distributor that'll "melt" through one stack of Plastic and then go to another one
smart spillter is the only solution, just make sure you have the fastest belts possible and unload from both outputs at once
personally i only mix cargo if it's in very small amounts, like final factory outputs
If smart splitter was a 20 year old woman id marry her
damn high standards much
Lmao
I just got mk5 belts unlocked
I still have to build my inventory sorter
Two refineries make 240 m of alumina solution which is the amount needed to make aluminum scrap. How is it clogging the refinery?
Byproduct? Ah no, I saw your screenshots now: The Aluminium Scrap is not used. This clogs back everything.
the output is full on the screenshot you shared, it needs 12m3 of space to produce the next batch
Im definitely not a pro so take this with a grain of salt but I just slightly, like decimals, overclock the machine to use more. But I'm new lmao
that's a fine fix to get it restarted, but ideally you want it running at 100% and not switching off and on
My oil biproducts are just being packaged, the packager isn't running at 100% but it doesn't need too, it's the excess
In the endgame, you have such fluctuating power though, that you will not have 100 % power efficiency, and machines turninf on and off won't matter anymore.
i know it hurts
I am fine with it π ups and downs
but also if your stuff is switching on and off, the output is fluctuating and it will mess up everything down the chain as well
you do?
Ever built a quantum encoder?
just needs some power storage π
Doesn't change the fluctuation tho π
i long for the days of max and current consumption being the same, flat line
Woo, resale value of Pioneer+Doggo figurines: tanked. π₯³
My grid is susceptible to death
I read your name and my brain always says apothecary diaries

rear palace themed factory when
Yo wait
That would be a sick main project
I could potentially try that
i mean the layout is all square, it wouldn't be awful to figure out.. i can think of a few ways to do an asian style roof too...
Why do my pipes keep overflowing and backing up I have 5 aluminum scrap machines water feeding into 3 sloppy alumina refineries which should be the exact amount I need
i got my reinforced iron plate factory working
sounds like you might have too much for a single pipe?
I'm building a railroad, and there's this sign with arrows on it. Does it matter which the sign is facing?
No, that's basically inconsequential
If you're manually driving a train you'll see it change as you choose which direction to go, and I believe automated trains will cause it to change as they go past. But you can basically just ignore 'em
(I say "inconsequential" -- I think they do technically control which way the train will go, even when the train is automated. It's just that the train/tracks will automatically choose the correct one as they go through, so it doesn't matter)
inconsequentomated
Joined mostly to say.. ahem
DEAR GOD I HATE LOAD BALANCING
then don't do it
240 into 80 isn't too bad. But 160 into 90 and 50? That hurt
well be at peace because it's generally not necessary π
either set your machines up to make the right amounts in simpler ratios, or manifold it
i yearn for efficiency
I think the thing is, it's now about where the arrows pointing, it's that the sign is facing the other way, not where the train is coming from
those other options are still perfectly efficient
it's like driving up to a street with a stop sign, but you're seeing the back of the stop sign
eg for your 160(?), you could just make one set of machines make the 90 and one make the 50 (and the other 20 just sits around awkwardly)
or you just slap it all onto one set of belts, and they'll self-balance eventually
True, i totally could've done a manifold. But where's the struggle in that? The raw hatred? The frustration?? That and i hate waiting π
you can pre-fill machines to help with that
True, didn't think of that..
I do like me a balance if it's simple enough numerically
Yeah, I suppose I went off on a bit of a tangent. No, it really doesn't matter at all. :)
but once the numbers get awkward, ehh, the other two methods (or a combination) are easier
it's cool you're just passionate about inconsequentomating stuff
My new year resolution is to be more like a smart splitter
Wanna see the monstrocity? (Probably not all that bad considering some of the builds i've seen, but mechanically a nightmare)
yes
Lemme find a good angle rq
I've seen people make decent railway u-turns just a foundations wide, but just now I had to make a really really wide turn. is there some option involved or did I just mess up?
u-turns are always pretty chonky
Smallest possible 90Β° turn in the vanilla game is 3 foundations; a full U-turn would have to be 6
Could be there's mods which allow for tighter turns
Ok a little heads up, it's NOT spagetti π its just 2 outputs awkwardly placed
clearly not spaghetti, more of a farfalle
I think what's really holding you back though is a lack of color in your crazy contraptions
tbf I don't think I've ever intentionally painted anything aside from walls/foundations
I wish there was a paint all button that would paint all existing foundations and stuff a certain Swatch
why do you hate beauty?
because I am bad at it
signs do enough of a job
if you used any of the swatches for it and you chance the setup for that swatch it updates everything that used it
practice makes beautiful perfection!
I do wish I was better at the whole aesthetics thing
Beauty in imperfection, as they say
next time I pick it up again I might try (again) to focus more on that
if a freight platform has both plastic and rubber, but I set the train to only load plastic, will it only load that?
Yes
interesting
So from 160 i have it going to:
160 -> 80A+80B
80A -> 40A+40B
80B -> 40C+40D
40D -> 20A+20B
20A -> 10A+10B
10A overflow
10B+40A for 50 out
40B+40C -> 80C (there's probably an easier way but i've come too far)
80C+20B -> 100 out
this is the sort of aesthetics you get out of me on a good day

Have you tried experimenting with different belt upgrades?
Ooo i like the first one
Like mixing a MK1 belt with a MK2 for example?
Yeah, there's certain use cases for downgrading belts when load balancing, makes it easier to hit certain values and ratios
Also it is coloured. Its brown like copper -v-
I am cliche and make my pipes copper
Although right now I am making them the Ficsmas skin
Ahh i'm still yet to get there
I'm at the point where the only items from the shop I need now are the statues and mugs
And a boombox everytime I accidentally lose mine
I'm so slow I had all of those before finishing the final phase...
Im on phase 4
Forever on the nuclear power milestone because I'm currently growing the factory to do everything other than supercomputers right now lol
I'm rebuilding mine from the ground up to get me some sweet sweet oil
Oh yeah, throughout the game you tend to just go "I've screwed everything up" and rebuild everything lmao
I feel that on a spitirual level
I am terrified of the upgrades im going to need for supercomputer automation if RCUs have taken me so long
Get that oc supercomp alt
how can I adjust or edit the markers for things like docking stations? I want to shrink their radius
Once I have RCUs automated I'll be able to get the supercomputer alt recipe
Yeah now I think it through it just happened to be super convenient for me, takes waaay more alu
But I still rate it, prod is good and cheap to sloop since itβs an assembler
for some reason I decided to make my whole stator/motor factory to completion without turning it on once. Surely nothing will go wrong when i power it up!
why is my map not working? i cant even open it
have you unlocked it?
huh? you have to unlock it
i just assumed because there was the "m" in the bottom right with a map
tbh I thought that'd be disabled until you got it, I'm sure it used to be, but yes it's an early unlock
when do i unlock it?
!wikisearch map
This article is outdated. You can help Satisfactory Wiki by updating it.
The Map, once unlocked in Tier 1, allows pioneers to view areas of the world that they either have explored or scanned using Radar Towers. In a multiplayer game, the map is shared amongst all players.
It can be accessed with M and...
iirc its in the mam
oh
i may be wrong
Does anyone else strategically utilize dismantle crates for storage
it moved in 1.0
just part of a basic T1 milestone now
ah yes mein is correct @hard mantle
yeha lol i was close but not right
okay it is now midnight, time to see what is behind door number 18
Back In My Day β’ you had to work for your map dammit, needed some progress and actual research or you just use SCIM
yeah'
5 more hours for me lol
Are there any foreseeable sales for satisfactory coming?
i realy need to clean up my base
Good to know
man i would love a replica of the pioneers gloves
Alright, thank you! I just got some fun money for Christmas but didn't wanna spend most of it on one game
-# I am willing to buy it full price but I figured I'd ask first at least
Does this server have like a Christmas bot for whenever someone says Christmas?π
festive
christmas?
oooof
needs more coupons
yep
you should donate me some
Oh wow, Ada really didnt like the 2nd generation of FICSIT fun engineers huh, referring them as the "2st Generation" on the tape
anyone ever did a modulair factory?
Y'all i need a quick reminder
What are those things when you split at every input called
smart splitter
Instead of splitting everything evenly
or programmable splitter
manifold
Yes yes manifold
oh
Thank you
didnt read the evenly part afterwards lol
I've probably got spare...
sink them all
Give me a colour
Magenta
my god this advent reward is the best yet, i love it lmao
i got a question
π§Ί
should i go for normal; screw recipie or cast screw recipie (5ingot - 20 screw)
as always, depends
if you're super early then cast screw is just a straight upgrade to the base recipe
then the question is whether you value the coal more than iron
Where is number 14 on the ficsmas calender?
sweet hook treat
candycane under mas
there's a hint function built in π
that too
bro i found it, that is like hardest one yet took me 10mins to stare at the calender
thanks
wait till you get to 17
i just found that one
that one was obvious
i spent forever looking for it, tiniest thing ever
Ikr
Just a quick factory, in and out. We got blueprints now. 8 hours later...
ive been making mine like modules
My blueprints are probably too generic. It would be a lot fast if I could put down a blueprint, put in ores, and get computers. I don't want to get that specific though because the best recipe depends on what resources are available.
idk if im allowed to post images here but i woul;d show what i just set up
Perfect choice
What was it for
Building pallet
Oh I see
Mornin Pioneers
You being efficient?
Explain yourself Pioneer, don't you wanna save the puppies and kittens?
they can save themselves
damn
ive never been cooked this much
getting immidiately back to wrok
I've made plenty of magic box factories in my time. I think it looks better if you just show all the machines
Number 7 on the calendar was a nice trick
What was number 7 again
||Hidden as a candy cane, very large||
Oh you mean like that, yeah lmao
Dammit they still won't let me inspect the contents of a train station or a car docked in it while it's unloading, that's really annoying because the train system is a bit buggy
dismantle hover
ohhhh damn why didn't I think of that
solution to most "how do I tell what's in/on the thing" things lol
good for stuck-looking belts too
eh, still annoying, it's a much better visual indication when you can see the inventory representation, and you also can't get a throughput measurement
But yeah it works
When it's a train that spends most of its time docked, that's really when it becomes irksome
well, throughput when it's [un]loading is 0 π but yes, it isn't as easy to mentally do it
lol
are we talking "while it's unloading not inclusive of the moment it's unloaded"?
I have mk 2 pipes filling 3 sloppy alumina refineries from 5 aluminum scrap refineries which should power it just fine but for some reason my water is always backed up is there a reason this is happening
Is the crossplay fixed? Got a ps5 and havenβt been able to play with Xbox but everything was saying that I can but it doesnβt work. Was curious if it was a bug or if itβs fixed?
#satisfactory-consoles Also, may be worth looking up the latest dev stream.
So nuclear power plants are WAY bigger than I expected. So much for my plan to build a bunch on top of those mountains west of the dune desert...
Has the location of screenshots changed...?
I can't find any of the screenshots I (supposedly) just took
Shoul still be in %localappdata%\factorygame\saved\screenshots\windows
There is also a button on the Tab menu in photo mode that should open the folder for you
Oh, so it has changed...
Thank you ^^
Heh, I take it you have not played since before 1.1 release?
Hello Pioneers :3
I haven't taken any screenshots xD
I wanna see! And, there betta be sum sushi! π
FICSIT does not care about OSHA rules

hi
Eh, I'm just messing with light settings π
||In a factory whose sushi has been wrecked by the nuclear changes, with the fuse blown and no hoverpack... π ||
But yeah, the shots are up...loading...
24 MB takes a while for my internet...
can i share my current nuke reactor build here?
#screenshots , #1038092680493801533 , or #design-and-architecture depending on context of reason
thanks
Ooof, and I thought mine was bad π
G4 has been spotty lately, here...
@sterile blade 1.2??
There is a bit of sushi π€
#screenshots message
Are we still on 1.1? I lost track π
Yep
Easy edit :P
Got that "in" with the devs eh? π€£
Global Warming? I'm hardly warm at all
that would be EPA, not OSHA
No, I'm just that bad at remembering numbers π
(Though, interestingly, that savefile apparently has been used for some tests by the devs)
We should use flammable refrigerants
Something about the number of unique signs was interesting...
<@&370483737957236737> since lizard doggo milk is highly combustible, is it suitable as a refrigerant?
lol
actually that'd be a fun addition to the game, adding in machine coolers so they can make more power or more items but you require a refrigerant.
cool the nuclear power tower with milk
i've used that mechanci in minecraft many times and it's so much fun, the device cools adjacent amchiens casuing them to be 20% faster, really helps with certain recipes
Ok there Phil of the Future
the mod i used in MC uses a gel/liquid called "cryotheum" as it's refrigerant and it's actually cool af.
radioactive cheese byproduct
I'd hope it was cool if it was used as a refrigerant
also, in using the interactive map for the game, is it supposed to take half an hour or more to load your world into it? i just wanna use it to find all the uranium nodes since 1 or 2 are like, underground and i can't find the cave entrances
is your network potato?
nope
starlink at i max out at around half a gig per second
i also have a cat7e ethernet cable
should i reload and try again?
Anyone do βone clickβ buildings? Trying to decide if the headache of making a compact blueprint for them is worth it
I make "one click" machines.. kinda..Still requires nudging though.
check browser dev tools for signs of poopiness, then check in on anthor's discord (linked on the scim website) if continuin to have problems
my mate put together a coal plant blueprint, 2 in one click, really helpful but now that i have the mk2 designer i may up that to 4 plants to go alongside the fuel gen blueprint i made
Ie, with splitters/mergers, lifts, floor holes, etc, already positioned or attached.
yeah definitely
i only use blueprint blocks for buildings
just planning out aluminium do i need more casings or alclad sheets?
turns out you can get 4 fuel gens in one mk2 designer area, so that helped immensly when i palced down my remaining 100 fuel gens
I HAVE SYNTHETIC POWER SHARDS
Makes it easier to do stuff like this: #screenshots message
Casings
probably casings
YAY
cool ty
So bauxite what am I trying to maximize, aluminum ingots , to make sheeting and casing?
Ye
That doesn't sound too difficult ...
got any alt recipes?
yeah those are the good ones
if you've got electrode scrap too you can replace the coal with a much smaller amount of oil
I haven't set anything up yet.
use heavy oil residue alt and turn that into petroleum coke
and the oil can help you get rid of byproduct water
Ok guess it's a good thing that bauxite is by both lol
okay yaa, i just had to reload google, my world save loaded in in less than 10 seconds
theres a oil node in the red forest, will be helpful
its enough for the entire map of bauxite
I'm using the bauxite on the west coast for now
Anyone have a setup on the satisfactory tools I could look at?
it's oddly satisfying from dying by going too fast in a hypertube
Anymore I like building a massive aluminum plant on the crater lakes with electrode, sloppy and pure recipies mining all 12,300. Using a BP that make 600 per. Though it ends up being about 80 refineries, it uses about 180MW lass power than if putting everyhing at 250% π€£
Having the bauxite vien going through the "center" of the map, it's not bad to bring it all with a belt hwy or train. So need mk6 belts though for maximum effort π
Saw the responses - niiiice. Iβve been trying to decide on making like a single blueprint for motors, etc etc etc and just stamping them out as I need them. Rn I have a few modules like smelters all crammed into a blueprint that I can stamp out but not actual factories
oh that's a lot smaller than i pictured
That's some spaghetti under there lol
How dare! That aint no spahget!!!!
is clearly lasagn
Iron Pipe still feels like cheating.
Lol well I mean a kind of spaghetti
Ik this isnt the chat for it but idk how to use that one, is anyone able to come help me find a a uranium node? I dont know what the process is for multiplayer in this game
I made the radiation suit mined some uranium by hand then dropped it into the dimensional Depot lol
I would do that but im already near the node and am on a mission to belt all uranium over to where ive got my nuclear plant at
Mk3 miner on all of them with max OC
I just did it for fun also it was on top of a Mercer sphere ...that's almost diabolical
Lmao
let my sister use my computer now everything is desaturated how did she even manage this
how am i supposed to tell if my building looks good
Monitor or nvidia/amd settings?
I'm trying to get my power consumption line perfectly flat, it's quite a challeng ein this game
Never gonna happen xD
I guess you haven't got into the later game stuff yet like particle accelerators
Well not if everything's on one circuit, no, but I can isolate fluctuating draws on seperate grids
They have massively varying consumption, it's impossible to get it anywhere near a flat line
Yeah accelerators and the like are an issue with this
Haven't got that far on this save yet
Not worth separate grids just to get a flat line xD
Not for you perhaps, but I enjoy the challenge of overengineering my power gird
Overengineering is different to trying to achieve a flat consumption line π
good luck man\
Right now it's even just the sinks, they don't have a constant draw. They're isolated on a seperate grid, but if I shut them down to troubleshoot, my production lines back up and everything gets fucked up
literally impossible wiht late game stuff
Again, separate grids for fluctuating draws
I have OCD as much as the next guy but what you are trying to achieve is a pipe dream xD
Yes it's impossible basically as soon as you use trains, let alone accelerators
Yea was going to say, even if you get close, trains will spoil it for you XD
Trains have their own grid, as do drones
Strange setup xD
Oh that much we agree on
I be crazy
I suppose the challenge would be better reframed as "place all fluctuating power consumers on seperate power girds"
Yup separate grids for those
whole power plants just for a single factory basically?
No, multiple worldwide power grids
ok so 1 for all the non fluctuating things and one for everything that does fluctuate
zatie zatie
I spend a lot of time stringing power lines
Scanning hard drives, I got the instant plutonium cells recipe, quite happy. I wasn't going to take the other recipe option lol, I dont need more coal alts
power tower at home
Haii
OH SHOOT I JUST LOOKED AT THE TIME ITS 11 PM I HAVE TO WAKE UP AT 6
Come on man, just one more turn...
For the cyclotrons, does the power consumption increase the closer the recipe is to being finished?
IIRC it peaks halfway through
Fun
I honestly, absolutely love particle accelerators, they're so cool so im very happy I can build them in this game
I almost wish they where significantly larger though and had to be built in parts so they end up having a 5 or 6km radius. (With having multiple outputs, inputs etc)
hello
Hello
Seeing everyone get so toxic on me for saying the "water tower" technique is not needed is very upsetting
i will forever love gaming with doc even if sometimes stuff is not needed
That's unusual, this game generally has a very nontoxic player base
RAHHHH U ####### bleeeep rahhh
has anyone had a game performance issue when the power storage charge?
Actually this all came out of the challenge I set for myself this save to have every machine running at 100% all the time except for sinks and temporary project assembly
nah but i dont use many of them so i dont know if its valid to say so myself
Legit, I only use pumps, even going uphill. I pay attention to everything the pump shows me and have had no issues
No, and I've built some pretty massive power storage farms
Been a good while though
i have just a 5x5 and i cant even look in the direction of them without my frames going to ~5
have you watched gaiming with doc?
and everything is on low
I have a feeling itβs from the playerbase that has been here for a while
Hello wizard cat
might be ur graphics card'
Only clips. His oil to fuel production clip I use cause thatβs easy for me to remember and understand
i feel its from the new players who think they know everything but they are rare
2060ti, but this is the first time iβve hd a problem with it
granted i only had about 15 storages last time
hes cool he plays with his son
Also could be how long the PC/game has been running
satisfactory is quite draining after you have been runing it for a bit
only 8 hours so far today
As well as for how long your PC has been running
i had a server auto close cause i had it on 24h with no performance issue
I usually have to restart my PC every 3 days to keep the game playable
welp that would explain it
It happens sometimes with the fluid dynamics, I remember getting into an argument with someone the other day about whether or not pumps/valves prevent backflow and people just refused to believe it (they don't).
So perhaps your water tower topic sparked something similar
its not the fact that i have the batteries there, its that my performance (when looking in the direction) gets worse as they charge more
yeah i keep it on low settings besides textures how about you
I can do high to ultra on most
brochocho what are you runing on
Maybe
Ryzen and a 6600 XT with 16 GB of RAM
Or my "I want a flat power draw graph" challenge. People jump to "that's impossible", which is generally true, but I'm doing it in a rather extreme way
whats your fps???
Idr the specific CPU, but itβs in my message history
60+ outside my warehouse
im on a dell gaming laptop and if i turn the lighting graphics to medium i get flashbanged
Lol
i have an i7 3770 with 32g ram and a 2060 ti, i get ~120 frames on med-high
Ryzen 5 5600X @sullen meadow @glass pagoda
brochocho thats wild
also i have the new alexa ai here and it gets everything wrong. what should i ask it about satisfactory
it said coin tree forest is made of metal
Ask it about the snow biome
Tell it ADA is better
Or even better, ask when golf is scheduled to be added to the game
we have to ask about whats in the game
-# I hate how AI is burning this economy to the ground
same
I've lost my wiki role since i've left here and rejoined. how can I get the role again?
apparently "sorry there is no song called ada"
I wanna have a word with the person who said βAI is the futureβ
i just wanna talk to him
Alexa is the dumbest one of the three
quietly loads shotgun in the background
its in early accses and is dumb'
it keeps talking about the coins on the coin trees in satisfactory
what should i ask next
Ask it to write a poem about how you can redeem the coins from the coin trees in the awesome shop
okay
I said before that we were warned that robots would take overβ¦
-# But I donβt think they meant like this
"im sorry but i dont see any coin trees in the game or awsome shop. would you like me to explain how the awsome shop works?
nah its called thatcuz of the coin shaped pond with the tree in the middle surounded by enemys
My favorite way to show the limitations of AI are to ask it for a picture of a full glass of wine, or a clock that shows any time other than 1:50
ChatGPT at least can't do either of those
jsut ask alexa anything and it will explode
ooh they fixed the clock trick
Midjourney
bro snowballs are so good cuz they destroy stuff like nobilisks but they are super duper cheap
What did you want to imagine, I'll generate it for you and post in off topic xD
Then you can see AI in action π
Full glass of wine on a wooden table in a restaurant, something like that?
zatie bout to flex his chat gpt subscription ahhhh
Midjourney xD
like
i see ppl here maxing their graph setting just to show a screenshot of a factory they made and even isntalling graph mods for it
get it, this is the palce to do it
but AI subscription flex?
cmoooon
I paid for a year a while ago, it expires soon, only the basic plan
and then we learn twas grok and not chat gpt
MJ is MJ, not related to any of that stuff that I'm aware of
Well I appreciated the attempt, it's a hilarious test for AIs
@silk oceanoff topic but do you know the california gurls lyrics without needing to look them up?
Well that image generation isn't exactly me flexing xD More like demonstrating how useless I am at writing imagines
nucular waste is cool and all but fixonium is πΏ
Never even heard of it, what is it? xD
dm
how can you not know california girls
i got a problem when streaming satisfactory on discord it keeps saying stream paused even im on the game tab, anyone got solution?
I know the tune listening to it, definitely not the lyrics
they are unforgetable tho
Who knows the lyrics to this off the bat lol
im not to self glaze, im humble
If you're a Katy Perry fanboy I suppose
its just a cool song
wake up
Think about factory
Factory must grow....
What is the actual point of trains. I'm phase 5 hasn't used a single train cause I just feel like drones are superior and if it's closer I can just belt the items together
can i adjust text sice on displays?
Wat is this sorcery and line of thinking xD
I am in shock that you haven't used trains yet
Trains are the best method, drones sux xD
Like drones never get clogged get from point A to B and my factory is good like I just don't know
Neither do trains if you build a proper global network
Problem with drones is they have lower throughout than trains though
Since they can store less
Just make 2 drone ports
Drones are very low volume, faff around far too much docking and loading/unloading, and you have the problem of getting fuel to them
Still less than trains
I've just never had an issue where my drone is not able to supply enough
Drones are great for complex item transportation don't get me wrong, but when it comes to mass transporting an item, trains are superior
To quote the meme "This bad boy, can fit so many freight cars"
For copper I just belt it because it's never so far away
Ultimately do whatever you prefer, no right or wrong. Trains are arguably by far the most superior transportation solution
Lmao thats severe "You are entitled to your opinion, just it's the wrong opinion" vibes
this no trains technique is lowkey cursed energy sorcery yea
LMAO
Not really, just stating a fact, doesn't mean you have to do it XD
zatie being a little yapper
You don't have to use the best solution xD
im gonna stop i swear
you are all wrong, the Factory Cart is the best it used zero fuel and can do anywhere and is basically free
Real
NOT WRONG
I prefer manual transportation, working a 9-5 as a truck driver
