you have to find caterium (usually a small deposit) then reserach it in the mam building which will let you scan for large deposits if you want it early

and then you can use "blueprint (autoconnect)" build mode to slap 'em down -- so all you have to do is just daisy chain one power connect between each copy of the blueprint

but the ability to just hover and slide sideways and go click click click click click click click to put stuff down really makes building go a lot faster

dunno if you're on pc or console but if you hold control everything will snap together as you build -- both buildings and splitter/mergers

i dont think itd be that hard, each blueprint clearly already has a tag for what it was built in. they can just add a check in the loading in the designer saying if it was built in a mk3 and theyre loading in a mk1 then dont let it build. but if it was built in a mk2 and theyre loading in a mk3 then its good

Just put the 300/min ore into the industrial storage container on a Mk4 belt and then put two Mk4 belts into the train station from the industrial storage container, then the miners are not clogged when the docking starts and continue filling the storage container.

(Well, not necessarily irrelevant -- the docking time means that you can't get a full 2x-max-belt-speed throughput out of a single train car. But for many applications, an ISC belted in properly will do the trick. :)

When there is rarely a train, the throughput is higher compared to when the trains come frequently

When you need perfect 100% throughput, trains don't work, then you need a belt from A to B, but when you produce less than the max belt, a train usually works great. And the clogging can be prevented with storages as buffers inbetween to refill the station quickly.

Same principle as input buffer, then put two Mk.5 belts from the train station to the industrial storage -> 2x 780, then 1x 780 to your machines, can transport 600 continously and when the train station is refilled, the storage is refilled with 2x 780 until its full again after the clogging during docking happened.

Should work. With Mk.6 belts it's even faster to refil the "buffer" storage or empty it on the sending side.

What Vencam wants to say is that even when you make a train stop with a signal at a freight platform, it won't dock but only when it stops at a scheduled train station with attached freight platforms (or when you drive and dock manually at a train station with attached freight platforms), but only when you have freight cars that match the freight platform locations.
