hello there, i have a question, does the ficsmas tree stay permanently unlocked in the MAM once you've unlocked it? (i mean after the event ends).
When the event ends, any automatic changes, like the wreaths on power poles disappear.
All the recipes disappear from being able to be selected.
All gift trees will stop producing.
Any already build things that are FICSMAS related will stay, including applied cosmetics.
Any existing production will work as long as it still has inputs.
so, the giant xmas trees will basicly be useless untill its ficsmass again?

Anyone getting a lot more crashes lately? Mine aren’t crazy but it went from none to 1-2 a session and my buddy that joins has gotten like 4 in a row off the start multiple times and usually gets a couple more

So my gift this morning from the advent calendar was a nuclear nobelisk.
Thank God I saved beforehand as I tried it on an area with a pure cruide oil node.
It removed a fair amount of trees and left radiation behind and I'm thinking yeah no this won't do 😂
I honestly can't see those nuclear nobelisks being useful unless the radiation disappears eventually.
As someone who has over 1k hours and yet never has tried to set up oil before, this is horrible.
Like unironically what the hell am i supposed to do with this much rubber? My overflow into a sink can barely keep up with the sheer ridiculous amount of rubber im making just with byproducts.

I'm working on tier 8 and my entire factory requires less than 20 rubber/min... You really don't need to produce very much
(Honestly that little Rubber for Tier 8 seems suspiciously low, but recipe selection has a huge say in how much of various petrochem products you need. :)
There's definitely recipe selections which make you use a lot more rubber than plastic, by the end
But yeah, all depends on how you decide to build (and at what scales)

I'm.about to make 1km conveyors for coal and sulfur for,this reason in a few days lol
fwiw, for power generation purposes, I wouldn't personally recommend going out to find coal+sulfur just for Turbofuel itself
If you're in a spot which only has the Oil handy, going Diluted Fuel (packaged or otherwise) is a lot more bang for your buck. (It's technically more bang for your buck even if the coal+sulfur happen to be nearby, but at least if they're close you're not spending a lot of time building logistics. :)

Packaged Diluted Fuel has the exact same resource ratios, FWIW. It is marginally more complex to set up, but you can fit a closed-loop 1x Refinery + 2x Packager setup in a 4x4 blueprint, with about 20 Empty Canisters pre-loaded in the blueprint, to give yourself a handy 1-click "mini-Blender" for that purpose.
The only real difference is that it outputs 60/min Fuel instead of the Blender's 100/min (and is slightly less energy-efficient, since you have to build more of them for the same fuel output)
The trick is the closed-loopness; you still just take in HOR+Water and spit out Fuel, and each placed blueprint is totally independent from each other, so you don't have to worry about package management and such

I isn't understand how to set it up right so I put 2 refinerys and 2 packagers in one blueprint it works and does the job it just isnt clean looking setup

Yeah, this blueprint takes in HOR+Water, then spits out Fuel. If you're including the HOR production in yours, that could certainly account for the extra refinery

I want to pick items from my main bus and ship them via drone, how can I make sure some ratio are always respected ? I can play with splitter/mergers but since ratio like 3 to 5 are a real mess. Is there a way to limit throughput of belt too ? Like 2 items per minute e.g. when picking from a mark 2 belt.

Yes, again I'm able to divide by 2 or 4 using splitters but is there a clever way to divide like by 10 or 20
Yeah Bug fix is important too. But some Information about what they fix will be great.
I think you can only divide a splitter by 33.3% per splitter, and you can work the math out from there to get to your desired amount per belt, that’s the way I know,
A belt limiter just like the valve would be so nice

fwiw, don't trust valves in pipe systems. They've got a lot of "strange" behavior that a lot of folks don't expect, and you never need them in your systems (or at least: it is always possible to design your pipes in ways in which you're not even tempted to use valves)
The game kind of intends for you to have to figure out how to manage the amount of resources on belts; they've had requests for belt-limiter type stuff pretty much ever since the game was release. CSS doesn't seem interested in adding those in, though. :)
Re: "using splitters and load balancers," btw -- using Manifolds instead of balancers will save you a lot of space and also mean that you don't have to spend time trying to figure out balancer math
Yes, limiting flow is useless, the system will slowly clog, or will starve anyway. A pump head lift limiter would be better
Just a single line of splitters in front of buildings and the resources will self-regulate after a bit

Easiest way to do that is to just produce the exact amount of those things that you need. Underclock/overclock to suit. :)

Yeah, bus-based designs tend to be a PITA in Satisfactory
Doable, of course, but they complicate rather than simplify. IMO they're not really worth it unless you just intrinsically enjoy building 'em. :)
They're popular among players coming from Factorio specifically, where they work a lot better. But Factorio's got finite nodes, variable production, and much faster belts than Satisfactory has
Where they are solution to specific mechanics in Factorio that don't exist in Satisfactory.
Those finite nodes and variable production. And work because of those fast belts compared to throughput needs.
I thought it would be faster to pick them directly from the bus and now it's 3:45 am and I'm there trying to fix problems caused by item backing off, so I agree with you on this one 😆
(Not trying to make you feel bad about your current factory or whatever, of course -- basically all of us have implemented designs which, in the end, cause us problems. :D Such is the game!)
All depends on what you want, of course! "Easy" doesn't necessarily mean "fun." Someone who enjoys getting stuff like bus systems to work in Satisfactory might just enjoy the process of working through those problems, etc. :)
In the end you can do practically anything, really, just depends how much effort you want to put into it. :P

Since Satisfactory's got the infinite nodes + constant production, it excels at doing sort of "direct" A->B type things. You always know exactly how much material's on any given belt, so it's pretty easy to just make exactly what you need, where you need it
The way I did it was with trains or a belt highway to wheare you need the raw materials to go, or you can build the factory on that Rescource and ship the parts it makes to wheare you need etc
There's a lot of different ways to approach that, of course. Personally I mostly never shut up about a build strategy called "Independency" (https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Tutorial:Independency), which I won't go into right now 'cause I assume everyone's sick of hearing me yap about it (though that wiki link should describe it well). That's just one way to play the game, though, and won't be for everyone
But in general, the path of least resistance tends to be "This thing needs x/min of Resource Y, so I'll make exactly x/min of Resource Y and send it over there"
How exactly you organize that and decide to manage it is definitely up to you, etc. :)
Elaborating slightly on this, though: even if you do centralize production of any rando Resource Y, you can still do the "make the exact amount" thing by having separate banks of machines at the end for each "export." Like maybe you're making 20/min HMF in a big ol' factory, but you might have two machines specifically making 4/min to go over here, another few machines making 5/min to go over there, etc. Underclocking/overclocking is quite useful for getting the numbers quite right
So the factory itself might be centralized, but then for ease of distribution it splits off into the exact numbers you need, right at the end
You can produce the exact amount needed but there's no way to divide it discretely if you have to ship to "n" locations.
That's what I mean by having separate banks of machines for each "export." Each location which needs the material has dedicated machines producing it, and you can overclock/underclock as needed to get that exact amount

Instead of combining the output for all your HMF manufacturers (to go back to that example), you just combine the ones which give you your target export rate (clocking to suit)

I just started 5 saves on every biome and worked. For edible flora u have to collect again, so i think for biome u have to visit again too

Yes, those trophies dont pop automatic, u have to reddo. But maybe u can only do one milestone for the trophy count and see u already have done the others. I dont know if work, but u could try (start New save, do only one milestone and see if the game count)

The highlights from this patch are a few more crash fixes, fixes for the blueprint issues, more minor fixes and partial achievement fixes*
*Previously bugged achievements may now unlock under certain conditions which are not ideal nor the conditions originally intended; such as having to unlock them by achieving the conditions for them in a single session or unlocking them accidentally without triggering the exact requirements for them, we're still working on better solutions for these but for now at least all achievements should now be obtainable in some way at least

I did try with my old save popping the last milestone and it didn’t work unfortunately
They have always been disabled
There is bug on PC side at least where sometimes milestones don't get registered for achievement progress.
Possibly if you push the send and then run away right away, without waiting for the dropship to leave.
But that was pure speculation for the possible cause.
So unfortunately if the same is still in console version, you might be missing any of the milestones.
And while with PC, you can make edited save that allows you to send all the milestones again fast, same isn't true with console.
Yeah on my current save
On PC you can just make four new saves, one in each biome, with onboarding skipped to get the achievement to visit all four.
And I would same to work on Consoles too, if any bugs in the biome visit registering have been fixed.

Made not that way, because it would be trivial to pass such save around on PC.
So it is registering the send, but there is some bug there why it doesn't always register.
And the logic wasn't changed for consoles.

Almost certainly some earlier milestone didn't get registered for the achievement.
As that is PC side bug too for some people.

With Steam Account, you can get the sub-completion info, for anything else, no.
And on PC you could close all the milestones, then load that edited save, send one, load it again, send another, and so on until you get the achivement, but not on console.
So annoying on PC, but way worse on consoles.

It's probably just a random milestone that was causing an issue and they fixed it, requiring to start a new save. I wonder if skipping onboarding will be detrimental to the trophy.

I've just unlocked coal power and steel production should I make a whole power station off 2 normal nodes of coal? I've also got 2 more normal coal nodes + a normal iron ore node right next to each other that I can use for steel Ingot production. So I could use 2 +.5 +.5 coal nodes since I can split a coal node with iron node

both. pressurizer goes on the main node. and the extractors go on all the surrounding nodes

Your station platform is wrong way around, unless you have dual-headed train and tracks that allow turning around.
- Automated trains can only drive forward.
- Putting another locomotive in opposite end pointing opposite directions allows you to get around this.
- Automated trains prefer the first locomotive placed when looking for route to next station.
- Automated trains can only approach station from the "back" (with square top).
- Currently "driving" locomotive will stop on the station platform.
- Freight cars interact with whatever freight platform they stop on.
Well i only have one main track so it was turning onto the wrong track i checked my train station is facing the correct direction

So you are hitting that point 3 of the list, just because you have some weird extra locomotive there in very weird place too...

So yes, a block signal limiting part of the rails to single direction use only would fix the issue.
If the train is always coming from back to the station, but wrong locomotive is driving half the time.
So somtimes it will be backwards and sometimes it wont
Normally the second locomotive is put in the opposite end.
And why would you have second one if the train is supposed to only drive in one direction, with so few freight cars...
And how is that weird location "realistic"?
I did say half the time, every second time will be right way, every second will be wrong way.
Because for some reason you build that "wrong way" locomotive first, so it is the one that will be tried to be used first.

So alien DNA capsules, what is the point gain in the SINK? I know the counter is seperate from normal items like screws, but I find it hard to believe i need 1k capsules for one ticket
1000 points per capsule.
So first few capsules each gives a ticket.
Then it jumps to needing 2000 points, so two capsules.
No idea why devs just didn't make it 1 point per capsule, and start from 1 point per ticket...
Possibly were originally meant to be on same track, with 1000 point price on that track, and was then later in development changed to separate track.

Yea I figured the math and using 2 normal nodes and overclocked mk1 miners to 200% since I can use mk2 belts thats roughly 240coal/min and each gen would burn at 15/min so I can make 15 gens with a slight overflow and ashamed at least 1100 mw of power which is more than enough to power my phase 2 stuff(I think)

If you fully automated the production line to make 50 of them in Phase 1, then you can just leave that running. Even if they're producing really slowly, you're very likely to reach 1000 before you've got the other requirements ready to get to Phase 3
I'd actually urge you to forget basically everything about Factorio. I know folks say that "it's just Factorio but 3D," but IMO the games have very little in common on a raw gameplay level.
One of the most common problems we see here is folks trying to apply Factorio solutions in this game and discovering that they often work horribly (or not at all)

Yes, there's supposed to be crossplay between xbox + ps5. There's been issues with it since launch (possibly relating to the Epic middleware used for the crossplay); I'm not sure what the current state of that is. But if it's not working now in some circumstances, CSS does intend to fix any problems

We did it through one of us logging onto their epic website account, then you go to accomplishments or something, copy your own profile share link and send that, then the other person can send a request by viewing it on their site account (big pain but it worked lmao)
Then make sure whoever hosts has the session open to friends and it’ll show up for them
(If it’s not and you change settings you gotta make sure you hit apply twice and it kinda resets)

Apart from the specific-day Data Cartridge unlocks (and I think one or two other specific rewards), the reward pool is randomized. You may have gotten snowballs, but other folks probably got other things
Everyone's supposed to receive the same total set of rewards, by the time the event's over, but a lot of the individual days are randomized from the pool

(You can dismantle your HUB whenever you want and go place it somehwere else, btw. You don't lose any progress. Ditto the Space Elevator and MAMs, even if you're in the middle of research)

(Hard Drive research in MAMs will even continue once you've dismantled the MAM -- one common trick while exploring is that when you find a hard drive, construct a MAM quick, plop the drive in for research, then dismantle the MAM. Ten minutes later you'll get a notification about the research being done and you can build the MAM again to rebuild, and maybe throw another drive in)
Maybe I can just set a marker where my base is at (currently) then destroy the hub and "take it with me". Then when I get to a spot I want to explore, build it so I respawn close by

PS5: When i go exploring, I don't dismantle my MAM at my hub beforehand. And when I find a hard drive, I build a MAM, start the research and then dismantle it. I never actually checked to see what happens to the original MAM when I build the second one. I've researched multiple drives 'out in the wild' before heading back to base. But my original MAM is always where I left it

I’m in the phase where I need to somehow send Nitrogen Gas from Point A to Point B.
I was originally going with the method of packaging at Point A and sending it to Point B to unpackage and have it automatically go into my Blender.
But while working on it, I’m noticing how much work it’s taking.
I was thinking of maybe sending it through the pipes from Point A to Point B and call it a day, but that got me wondering if the gas would travel slowly or not.

Easiest is to simply run pipes. Though it is more space efficient by a factor of four to package and transport by conveyor belts.
I ran a pipe honestly. Straight up a cliff and to my main set up. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I didnt need a single pump to get it up the cliff.
I'm almost at the point to unlock phase four so I'll have to consider using either pipes or pack at point a and unpack at point b for gases.
My main reason for doing this is because I havnt tried to set up any kind of automated transport yet except for the drones so I didnt feel like going into everything it would take to set up some kind of transport network. Plus I figured id have to transport the materials to package it at the source anyways.
That's a good point you'd have to transport plastic over there to make empty containers
There are some alt recipes for containers, but yeah basically. The mk2 pipe transfers 600pm and im no where near capping that off yet. And if I need more I can just expand the pipe network a bit. The only thing ive thought would be a drawback in the future is if I have a lot of different places that need it. Maybe pipe it to my main hub and package from there... idk yet.

Ah yeah, didn't mean to imply that MAMs could only be in one place. You can construct as many MAMs as you like, and their status is shared between all of 'em. :D

Start a post in #1038092680493801533 with overhead shots of your rails, ideally including some where you've got block/path signal selected (so we can see the path coloration)
One thing to note is that v1.1 especially doesn't seem to like signals being placed right on intersections; you'll want to place them a little ways back on a straightaway instead
Unless there's some console-specific bugs, Path Signals can work just fine. Though they can take some getting used to
There is current bug where path signals can leak if put straight at junction location, and not tiny bit farther back.
For 1.1 in general.
Basically can be as near the junction as possible, without being at the actual junction snap location.
But at the snap location might not work and end up leaking and erroring.

I know there's wall and ceiling conveyor attachments but how are you getting splitters working vertical if they aren't on the ground?
It's just something the game supports; if you've got a Conveyor Lift, you can snap new splitters/mergers to them
Well holy heck I never thought to try attaching splitters directly to lifts
It's a relatively new feature (introduced in v1.1); even long-time players might not be used to it. :)
This might come in handy as I have a conveyor lift bringing in sulfur along with coal in a tunnel through the tunnel roof to make compacted coal
The one annoying thing about it right now is that unlike with placing splitters/mergers on the ground, the conveyor-lift versions can't "snap" to nearby machine inputs/outputs
So if you're trying to line one of those up with a machine so that the belt heading into a machine is perfectly flat, it can be a bit finnicky
Hopefully that's a QoL feature we get in v1.2
(I've seen no indication that that's in the pipeline, just hoping that it is. :)
One little quirk with adding a splitter to a conveyor that is straight on the ground, the splitter is always clipping unless I am above it. If I'm also on the ground it will never be blue and allow the split. Took me awhile to figure it out, and honestly that seems like a better building practice anyway
I did a nice sushi train sorter using this feature. I was like "what if I try to put a splitter there ..." Can't post the picture unfortunately.

How do signals work in this game
one of the fixes for the ps5 trophies with regards to progression unlocks was to start a new save and unlock one thing- this triggers a check on all saves and grants the trophy if you didn't get it due to the accidentally-gotta-do-it-in-one-sitting bug
- console players have crossplay amongst themselves
- server support: not any time soon
- pc-console crossplay: not any time soon

Well that was fun spending about an hour reloading a save to get two alrernate recipes - sloppy alumina and pure aluminum ingot.
I wish there was a better way to get the alt recipes you want lol.

More recipes == more options while building! Catch 'em all.
And if you exhaust the pool of recipes available in Phase 3, it'll make it that much quicker to get any specific recipes you might want to look for in the next phase
How do you path a roundabout for trains?
Path signals "in," block signals "out," probably dividing up the circle with a few path signals as well
(Keep in mind that roundabouts are "inefficient" compared to regular intersections in the game, though unless your train network gets really busy it's unlikely to matter much)
Yeah, so as a train goes "into" the roundabout, it wants to see a Path Signal, and when it leaves the roundabout it wants to see a Block Signal
(unless that way out is leading directly into another intersection, of course)
If you want some specific advice, I'd recommend starting a #1038092680493801533 thread about it with an overhead shot; can embed images in there, so it's nearly always the best place for a question like that. :)

The trophy for unlocking all milestones is still broken which unfortunately is probably the worst trophy to be broken, hopefully they fix it properly and it retroactively unlocks or players can reload an older save.
“Varied diet” and “let’s see what’s out there” are now fixed. There is several reports that “ railway tycoon” is now broken after the latest patch and nobody on ps5 has earnt that trophy since the latest patch.
I don't understand water. Can I just build a big loop and as long as the extractors produce enough m³/min for my generators, I'll be fine?

I am probably making this harder on myself than it has to be, but I am trying to make rows of 4 coal gens at a 250% OC, meaning each row has a water usage of 425m³/min
And I only have mk1 pipelines
And counter productive in Satisfactory.
Don't try to make mega-pipe-manifolds, do cells.
Mk1 pipe can only supply little over 6 coal generators for example.
For the recommended 3 water extractors to 8 generators cell, you need two pipes from the water extractors to the generators.
the way im understanding is 600m3/min goes in the main pipe from the source, he needs blank amount for something and any extra from the thing would go back to the main, he can do that no issue or just have it branch off and it would backfill to the main pipe. correct meif im wrong
And more complex the manifold is, less likely is that you can get stable max segment flow constantly.
ive never had an issue with any manifold just slightly underclock it

With pipes, don't try to design to the max absolute momentary flow limit of the pipes, unless you absolutely have to.
Design production cells to nice ratios, under those absolute limits.
Sometimes with Mk1 pipes that can be over that single segment limit, but you can use two pipes to feed in that case.
But everything connected to everything pipe manifolds are just bad idea in general.

I just do 1 water gen for every 2 coal plants
The extra cost of the gen is worth the simplicity of pipe routing (and the much lower chance of flow issues)

1 water extractor at 75% per two coal generators at 100%.
Just straight pipe without loop.

I always found the loops caused problems where as running them like you would a simple manifold works well. I’ve never had an issue with it.

Its not about big loops, its about doing the math along the line.
If you feed in 300 from a mk 1 pipe on one end and then you have some junctions where it branches off to a bunch of machines that consume 270/min, then the main pipe now only carries 30/min after all those junctions took their part.
So at that point you can just merge in another 270/min fresh water with another junction .
The way that reads to me, I can feed more than 300m³/min with one mk1 pipeline, I just need to make sure that the supply is more than my usage?
I might also just be thinking into it way too much and making it way too complicated because of it
Limits are per segment, not per network.
But with pipes being bidirectional, need to be more careful with injected manifolds and like over just belts.

You can feed more than 300/min with mk 1 pipelines if you make sure to merge in liquid at points in the pipe network where there is a low fluid level.
Note: 300/min is the limit of a single pipe you build
Junctions don't have a limit really, only the pipes that connect to them do
You can in theory do something similar with belts

And dont do builds outside of your comfort zone or only do so in smaller scales first

But keeping it simple is always a good idea with pipes.
You dont need a big complex network, it can always be broken down into multiple smaller, simpler networks
Thats what I usually start a new creative save for. I make a crude version of what I want and then in my actual save I copy that in a more refined way

I had a death box very deep down on the edge of the map. i slowly laddered down along a cliff edge. The crate was in a kill zone where my health depleted every second but i made sure to eat nuts to stay alive in enough time to pick up the box and jetpack up to my ladder. Could yours be in a similar situation?

Going forward you can change a setting so you keep everything upon death. That's the one setting I won't change for my own personal challenge, but i definitely keep all the creatures passive. I want to build, not battle.

I’m trying todo a train shuttle a train that goes back and forth but when I put it on auto pilot the train it keeps saying next station is unreadable
Train must be two headed. Engines must point outward. Stations arrows must be outward too. Make sure the rail is good by driving manually from one station to the other.
That should do it
One last trick is make sure there's block or road signals on both side of the rail if you want a two way road, but this is advanced topic

So I have a quick question of sorts - for those of you who researched nuclear power have you found a decent or good area (with map coordinates) to setup at least one nuclear reactor to get started along with a way to deal with nuclear waste such as sinking it I'm guessing?
There's still some more things gated by advent calendar unlocks; probably just have to wait to redeem some more rewards from there
You've got four options for nuclear:
- Make Uranium Rods > Burn Them > Store the Uranium Waste forever
- Make U Rods > Burn Them > Convert the U Waste to Plutonium Rods > Sink the Pu Rods (for a "clean" nuclear option)
- Make U Rods > Burn Them > Convert U Waste to Pu Rods > Burn Them > Store the Plutonium Waste forever
- Make U Rods > Burn Them > Convert U Waste to Pu Rods > Burn Them > Convert Pu Waste to Ficsonium Rods > Burn Them (for another "clean" option; Ficsonium produces no waste)
Once you get past Uranium Fuel Rods, the only other product which is sinkable is Plutonium Fuel Rods. Plutonium waste accumulates much more slowly than Uranium waste, so folks storing waste often want to do that. For folks who don't care about "clean" nuclear, burning Pu Rods and storing that waste tends to be the preferred option. Ficsonium itself is quite resource-expensive (particularly SAM) and doesn't produce much extra power. But if you want the extra power from Plutonium and still want "clean" nuclear, that's the option. :)
As for locations, the swamp is one of the few places which has just about everything you'd need for a smallish nuclear buildout right there. Though don't be scared to import materials whenever you need to
On my last nuclear buildout literally the only thing I was using "locally" was sulfur; everything else was carted in. The most important thing to build near is water, 'cause the piping can be a pain otherwise. I generally recommend putting your extractors like right next to the NPPs using 'em. (I'll often put 'em right underneath and just live with having a pump to bring 'em up)

If you have the heavy oil residue alt you can make way more , my plan is one oil node overclocked to 600/min , end up with 1333.33 turbo fuel /min about 178 fuel generators total
I have to figure out how to get enough coal and sulfur there...maybe train? Not sure yet

Nah, hazmat suit / Iodine filters block all rad damage, and max out at 5/min usage at max radiation (which is easy to automate)
And the ambient radiation drops off all inverse-square like; radiation creep really isn't a big deal either (and who cares anyway if you have the filters)

I got eight burning rocket fuel right now with no apparent issues and my rocket fuel comes from the blender recipe nitro rocket fuel going at 200% clock speed
just get enough generators
a single one only burns 4.1666/min at 100%
aka: if you make 100/min rocket fuel, you need 24 generators at 100%
Right now I'm making 300 per minute rocket fuel so should be 72 burners 😱

(You can even eventually buy hard drives from the AWESOME Shop, if you don't feel like doing all the exploring, though they're pretty "expensive," especially if you're also going for the Golden Nut)

Eh, nuclear Uranium processing is quite straightforward. Plutonium's admittedly a bit more involved (and Ficsonium more involved still), but you can build things out in phases
I would say that handling nuclear waste is the least "straightforward" thing in the game, even if a hundred-year waste dump isn't very complex
Uranium processing isn't difficult, but it's hard to justify over just building more generators
When do you go around capping every geyser on the map? Maybe never, because it's a hassle and just doesn't really matter?

Use the blueprint designer if you have it unlocked along with small pillars, half foundations, and a rail line on top of two half foundations.
I've done this from one pillar high to seven pillars high to allow for a SkyTrain.

I used concrete pillars. You could also use metal pillars if you got those unlocked and change the look around if you like. 🙂
If I do decide to get brave one day and actually build a nuclear reactor not to mention bringing in all the raw materials it needs I'd probably recycle the waste and sink it.
But for now since I can apparently do up to 72 fuel burners on rocket fuel it might be a lot easier to do that for power needs. 😂

When you collect hard a drive does it give you a random alt recipe
It gives you a selection of 2 between the options you have unlocked, the selection gets bigger when you progress through the game
So you kinda want to stay on top of collecting harddrives if you want current recipes

Some material has 3-5 different recipes so you dont need to collect all, just pick the ones that you would like to make

you don't need to get any of them, but i'd argue there are a few alternate recipes that are borderline essential for simplifying late game factories ||like iron pipe and cast screws|| and a few that can amplify resource efficiency a LOT ||like diluted fuel, recycled rubber, pure ingot recipes (ore+water=extra ingots) etc||. personally i'd say slorp up as many as you can find.
No. If you want all the alternate recipes then you only need 113 or so. You'll have 5 left over
The crash sites also have useful items that you can store for later phases as well. I know I used the stuff laying around fairly frequently until I hit late game
Plus sometimes the requirements to open the drop pods are just right there on the ground lol

And once the current pool is empty, you get the drive back with error if you try to research.

The only way to see that you have all the alt recipes that are available is when you get an error from decoding the harddrive, right?
(I guess encyclopedic knowledge of every alt and when you get them is also a way, but i doubt most people are willing to go to that extend)
When you get just one possible selection instead of two, you know that is the last one available in the pool when that research was started.
Yeah, mostly, though there is still a bug in the PC version where if you've been scanning hard drives during a play session, it might give you the "no more research left" message one scan "early." So you'd have to quit back to the main menu and reload the save to actually do the last research

i bought satisfactory a while ago while it was in beta, then i got a mac and I couldn’t play it anymore. I have now had to play it in 1 hour increments using geforce now, so excited for Christmas so i can get it on console.
I got satisfactory on my Xbox. I've been waiting for this game for years ever since I've watched a lot of people playing it on PC. Now I can play the full journey on my Xbox 😭 super excited to play and there's any tips you can give me, I would love to learn

Turbofuels in advanced form of normal fuel.And you get it in the MAM through a researching sulfur enough
I would say, personally, it's more of a late game fuel source since the process of making it can be a pain of making it depending on what your factory is like

I would recommend not thinking of things in this game in terms of it being a "need" situation or not. You need as much as you aspire to build. If you want a more efficient fuel source then you "need" turbo fuel, but you don't have to have it.
It's helpful with the ||jetpack|| and other power sources for sure, but you don't have to chase it if you don't want. Just go for what you think sounds cool or seems helpful
Speaking of jetpack, is biofuel worth it for it? I have like 2 industrial storage containers worth of compacted biobricks sitting around
I used biofuel for mine for a while before switching to rocket fuel. It worked pretty well, but you don't get a lot of height.
Just make sure to bring like a full stack or two when exploring and you'll be fine.

I personally got the smart merger/splitter and haven't bothered with the priority ones yet. The smart splitters are really helpful for making a storage mall, where every output in my factory gets fed onto a main sushi belt and the smart splitters pick out the items as they go through

So a splitter, it ejects items in every direction.It can, but the smart splitter you can decide where each item goes
Also, if I remember correctly, there's two types of the smart splitter
One cost a little more, but that's so you could decide multiple items to go in each direction
I probably didn't describe it in the best way, but I think I got the bear minimum
Smart splitters allow to choose one filter per output out of a list of filters (eg: "item", "undefined", "overflow"...). Outputs will respect their filters, so they can "control" where items flow.
They have an "upgraded" version, unlocked much later.

I am assuming pumps don't work the same way here as Factorio. Because I am having trouble keeping my fuel powered generators fed despite checking and double checking the ratio many times.
So flow issues? Make a water tower. At the beginning, bring all liquids up above where you actually need them and immediately down

I strongly suggest against adding complexity to a system in order to fix flow issues.
Generally speaking, the simpler a system is, the least the issues (and the easiest they are to find)
Don't get me wrong, ofc everyone has different preferences (including in how they make sense of fluids), I'm just saying that as a general rule. Very few can make more complex pipework work better than simpler one
I mean... a water tower is the easiest solution in my humble opinion
I don't see how "more pipes" is a good solution to "not enough fluid going through pipes" (outside of some very specific situations, maybe) xD
They said that the ratios were correct, so I assumed the problem was that at a point or another the lift wasn't enouh
To check where the issue is, find where the yellow lights are.
Which machines are starving instead of full of fluid, and which are backed up instead of empty? Once you know, you can identify what and where the issue is (my hypothesis: flow issues between fuel makers and producers)

That may be the case and can be easily be verified checking individual pumps (theit UI shows the current headlift used). The easiest solution would then be to add enough pumps... Adding a whole setup of pumps, fluid buffer, and descending pipework is unnecessary unless one has additional objectives 
Well the objective would be to eliminate having to power 40 pumps
I dont know, I am just going by what I learned from Gaming _with_Doc... and I haven't had much issue wih fluids ever since
I mean... Considering that saves ~20MW every 100 meters of fluid risen (per pipe) and how cheap power is, I don't personally think it makes sense to make the pipework more complex (which can lead to issues if not handled with know-how) just to save on some Generators ^^

It is quite a bit of stuff you need for turbofuel, but if I calculated it correctly, with one pure oil node you can power at least 16 gens at max overclock

the game doesnt directly force any particular way of playing, leaving it up to the player to decide how they wish to progress

Crater, imo. Has 3 pure oil nodes and a few normal ones, coal and Sulphor is also nearby

Turbo fuel as well as rocket fuel and even ionized rocket fuel are most definitely needed.
With turbo fuel you can definitely use it in a jetpack to jump up a good distance.
Rocket fuel is even better and is what I'm using now for my jetpack as well as burning for fuel burners to produce energy.
Technically with the setup I have going I could have roughly 72 fuel burners just on rocket fuel.
You get turbo fuel and rocket fuel with refineries running off crude oil or with alternate recipes generating fuel and converting the fuel into rocket fuel with a blender.
Do I need blender for rocket fuel also isnt rocket fuel more complex compared to turbo fuel

I would say it is the same or slightly higher complexity depending on the recipe you use,

I have not been blessed with the gift of a decent alt recipe for the last 5 harddrives. And in addition, I might've majorly miscalculated. To be fair, it was early
Just play and try it.
That's why you save before opening up the results of the hard drive scan, then rescan.
Don't like the options? Then reload your save, repeat process again until you get the alt recipe you want

Hi folks, Today's patch for console should change your version in the title screen to 1.1.1.3 CL#462540
There's only 2 fixes in this patch, the main one is a potential fix to online connectivity issues, Fishlabs worked with Sony together to get this fix going so hopefully this should resolve or improve things for those having issues, please let us know what is your experience after this patch 🙂
The 2nd fix is to address some newly introduced issues where achievements that would track progress (I.e. Amount of Conveyor Belts/Railways, etc. that have been built) would not be tracked properly

I've heard the visiting biomes one works now, but you have to do new saves for it. Unfortunate the milestone one still isn't fixed.

I do think Turbofuel is the best all around fuel though for the jetpack. The others are fun, but require paying a lot more attention to avoid cratering.

try to get sloppy alumina and err pure alu ingot if you can
they're not very resource efficient, but they simplify the setup sooo much
well, they cut out the silica and simplify the numbers, but given how spread out *quartz is that can be a real life-saver
Speaking of alt recipes, is there enough hard drives to get every one? Or do you have to be extremely selective to get the ones you want?
There's enough where you'll have 5 hard drives left over after getting all alt recipes.

Screws aren't so bad once you unlock the alt recipe where one steel beam gives you like 52 of them lol

Hi guys... question... My friend created a game that I have been joining... But he can't see the electricity capacity on the poles... Like he can't see how much electricity we can produce... he does see everything else though... Is this a bug?
We know it does this when I am with him... no idea if it happens when he is alone... we will test it later

Yes, so I made a mistake in my original post... The only thing he CANNOT see is the CAPACITY... He sent me a screenshot, which I can't post in here... 🙁 But it shows all the stats correctly, except the capacity, its blank

For the rest, seems to be case where console is outputting over HDMI in full-range color (0-255) and the TV is set to use limited-range color (16-235) for the specific input.

So here's something I'm not quite sure about.
From reading various Google searches over the years supposedly there was a bug where slower bits of conveyor belts would get stuck in conveyor splitters.
Was this fixed a long time ago for sure on both PC and console because I swear just now removing two splitters in my iron factory and redoing them with mk 5 conveyors stuffs moving faster.
Yes, but you've gotta find one node first. Unfortunately there's no SAM deposits like with other resources (the things you can hand-chip away at to make them disappear), so finding a node is what you've got
Sometimes there a small bit of mk1 or mk2 that stay right into the conveyor belt at the splitter location when upgrading.

Yeah, the slower-conveyor-"in"-the-splitter thing wasn't really a bug per se
It was just folks snapping splitters to belts right near belt intersection points, so you'd end up with a small bit inside there which is difficult-to-impossible to "upgrade"
(I think that's still possible to do, in fact, though maybe they added something to prevent you from snapping splitters/mergers too close to the edge?)
Honestly I'm not sure but to be on safe side I just redid some splitters for my iron copper and steel factories.

Is the crashing issue fixed? I want to be able to play the game, but I don’t want to immediately get sent to the dashboard trying to get past the loading screen or loading into a game
after the last patches it seems more stable for us on PS5, in our first playthrough the game was constantly crashing for my friends (as a host i had far less) and we couldnt get past phase 4 cause of it... we started a new playthrough almost 2 weeks ago and we are now approaching the end of phase 3 and so far just a few crashes ( we all play on ps5 )
On PS5? I haven't had any crashes at all in my 60some hours so far. But I am very slow so no major factories eating up the processing power yet.
To the now deleted question: Codex and ToDo list show fluid amounts in liters, and rest of the game shows them in m^3. Where 1000l is 1m^3.

Yo I just build a powerplant that runs only on turbofuel and now I’m curious if is there a point to unlocking rocket fuel

yes it's much more efficient, we have upgraded to rocket fuel recently and put 3 power shards in each generator and it only uses a bit more than 10l rocket fuel so with the equipment you currently have you can make at least 3 times as much energy with rocketfuel
