Last Epoch on Linux-Question:
As a brand new player I want to prepare my linux system for the upcoming season 2. The game runs with with steam and proton experimental, but totally random the game/ graphics start to stutter slightly out of the blue. This can happen in the campaign-maps, as I am leveling, or just by opening your stash. The graphics stutter does not go away until i restart the game completly.
I am running an up to date Archlinux installation with AMD 7800 CPU and an AMD 7700 graphics card, 32GB RAM, Steam with Proton Experimental. I had the same problem with PoE1/ PoE2 back then but the problem disappeared when i switched from Ubuntu/ Mint to Archlinux. Oh, I am running Wayland/ Hyprland.
Maybe one of you had similar issues or can point me into into some direction that might help me.

sentinel was mostly a bonus just cuz of the VR changes. this patch is really all about weaver and endgame
Never had any similar issues in poe1 or poe2 or last epoch or really any other game I played. I also never used wayland. Coincidence? I always see a lot of people experiencing bugs with wayland in games, especially with hyperland.
The outcome text shows what you rolled on the craft you just did. It rolled within a range.
Poe1/ Poe" run great now, and but after the PoE2-debacle right now, I really would love to give Last Epoch a go right now. The earlier problems with PoE seemed to be with the Steampackages in the Ubuntu-repos which went away with the switch to Archlinux.
It is completly possible, that LE and Wayland/Hyprland have some problems but I have no clue how to verify that. I only know for sure, that I will not return to that eyesore called Windows 11 😉
Has there been any improvement to leveling alts? I haven't kept myself informed to be honest but that was always the hardest part for me was having to re-do the whole story again

You don't need to redo the entire story, just some (even for first char). On alts you won't need to do regular monos anymore and you won't need to reach ch9 to get to your faction outpost.
Frostbite doesn't deal spell damage, so it mainly scales from %cold and freeze rate (due to your boots)

One way to verify would be to install x if it's not already installed along with DE that supports x, and then launch a session of that instead of wayland/hyperland when you login. Then see if the issue remains.
Other things that may potentially cause issues might be resolved by trying a different proton version or updating your drivers. I'd assume being on arch that your drivers are already up to date but it never hurts to make sure.

Any mob, at a very low rate. If you want keys NOW, a quest echo boss is still the most reliable.
I'm not sure. It's better than a rare wand, but great exalted is questionable. The tundra nova procs can apply more frostbites, I'm just not sure how well all of it goes for the specific build you're looking at.

hard to describe in 2 words. But if you wish, the current state is pretty damn stale cause of a 9 month season we just had but the new patch seems to make up for it
I usually just do the new league in poe with trade, is there something specific I need to choose in LE when looking to get into a similar type league where you can trade with players?

Current state is waiting for Season 2 to release because it brings a ton of new activities to the end game - LE is a good game, but there's not much variety in the end game, Season 2 fixes that

if you want to analyze it, you need to establish what your main source of damage is (or at least supposed to be) and see how your gear scales it (or doesn't). Which can be not so transparent for a new player I guess
since tools like combat logging or sims dont exist in the game, you'd be hard pressed to find real data to analyze, gotta get into the reverse engineering
minmaxers who want to speedrun the game in 2 days shit on COF but it's a perfectly fine way of playing the game. Of course it's behind just buying your items when it comes to speed and targeting specific items, but it's workable and even has some advantages at endgame if you minmax it. Plenty of hardcore (as in the level of effort) players use it

What does it mean when you craft and it says critical success and the thing is 1 rank higher? Does that mean a tier 2 is actually a tier 3? I thought it'd skip the next tier. Like a 1 would become a 3, but it was still a 2.
on a crit crafting success you upgrade 2 tiers instead of 1

you can compare ranges of affixes with advanced tooltips, but in general the more specific an affix the bigger the range it will have
for lightning spells the two are quivalent so just pick the one with a higher value
it can give +1 tier to a different affix than the one you were upgrading

hmm been a while since I checked it in the forge but if holding alt, ctrl, or alt+ctrl while mousing it over doesn't work, then I guess you can't from the forge UI

I just started playing this game a day ago... and I'm worried I bricked my first act 2 quest. I teleported to the Act 2 zone I'm on the "explore your surroundings" step of The Last Refuge and I quit out before getting to a way point I guess...now I can't seem to get back to that zone

except that it's slow, boring, the loot is shit, and the bosses are bland and obnoxious

your last lvl 90 spawns a harb and unlocks empowered. in the knights faction panel, it tells you which timelines you still need to kill a harb in

one is only used for melee attacks. one is used for everything.
is it considered in the tooltip display dmg? yes, but the tooltip is generally unreliable for actual dps

+X% (melee) critical strike chance is flat, X% increased (melee) critical strike chance is not flat.
For weapon affixes, the melee crit affix is flat crit and the generic crit affix is increased.

POE2 is feeling a bit rough right now and LE seems to be getting some good praise lately
the good: itemization, skills, the world around you, campaign, endgame, CRAFTING, the masteries, listens to what the community wants. stash for in game gold not real monies, i could spend all day doing this lol
the bad: most of it is being fixed for S2 lol i honestly can't think of bad things except for a few bugs that are already addressed as issues being fixed...oh i would like sound options for filters but thats not game breaking enough to not enjoy it
hows build variety/balance? Is it open ended or does it end up narrowing down to 3-5 builds dominating

people will always find a "dominating" class and mastery but its very few and far between
It's not as complicated as PoE, but still has some good depth to character building. End game depth is lacking, but the new season is adding a lot to that, looks great. There are some OP builds, but the disparity is usually not nearly on the level PoE has, you can do all content if you put some effort into making a good build and getting gear for it.
LE Tools is the main planner, it's not as in depth as PoB, but it does have some calculations it does, mainly for defenses.
Oh and I guess specifically compared to PoE 2, the enemies don't move 10 times faster than you here. Over all it's a very good game, all things considered, and the new update looks pretty hype.
swarmblade looks sick, with an ability like that is it possible to build urself to a point endgame where you can maintain the form infinitely and not run out of rage?
oh my biggest question probably, is this the type of game where its 1 ability and then supporting things to carry it, or are you usually rotating between 3-4 abilities to maximize output
Yes, the most common way to play druid is to pick a form and stay in it permanently. Swarmblade has locust swarm that feels a bit like BV, which I personally like quite a bit.
There's a mix depending on what build you do. It tends to lean toward a main ability plus support, but the support isn't all 100% passive auras, often times they are more like a movement skill, a defensive skill, and maybe a mix of buffs/procs/combos, all depending on build. A lot of top builds do short combos I think.
honeslty could be either way, you could use one ability to dominate by focusing on auras or passives, or you could multi button to add different debuffs to them for your main ability to shred
spellblade looked neat with firebrand and that unique fire to lightning conversion

There is no full campaign skip. However, you never really have to do the whole campaign, you just need to get your idol slots and passives from quest rewards, which is maybe roughly 2/3rds of the current campaign.
Right, sorry, I just meant the skips that are currently available. Not sure if I'm watching older videos that are out of date or something, but some mention that you have to have a character that has cleared the campaign to do it

Yeah.
iirc you can do it on your first character, but I am guessing most people won't be strong enough to justify doing it on a non-alt
plus I don't even know if it would be faster to get your 8/8 passives and 15/15 passives. You could do those in ~2 hours with the temporal sanctum waypoint unlocked, then go run temp sanctum when you get the key to go straight to act 9 to grab faction
Right and unless you have someone with a key you can’t do the skips as you won’t find a key very early on in the game

Yeah, the keys don't start dropping until you are past the point that the dungeon entrance is in campaign
however, you can pop out to monos partway through the campaign which is a high level to start working your way through there until you get the key you need for a skip - I usually would do that after reaching Oracle's Abode, get Temporal Sanctum key from monos, then come back for the skip. Not sure I'll do that much anymore with normal mono progress shared now.
Harbingers are big endgame bosses, the "upgrade" replaces that affix with a specific one based on the type of weapon it is

they do the same thing, spell crit has higher affix ranges on gear in exchange for.. well, only working for spells
and yes, you want crit damage on any crit build

You can skip that by doing dungeons directly
If you play legacy, you can just continue on current chars and/or use whatever leveling stuff you have.
If you want to play on a fresh start in the cycle, you won't get to skip anything exactly, but you also don't really need to finish campaign.

Is the new "Scissor of Atropos" sword effect something you can get dual wield and get effectively 4x the effect from? One hit = 2 stacks of Kismet, each stack granting 16 crit/flat damage for 32 total?

I just reached harbingers for the first time. However I have a bit of an issue killing my 2nd harbinger. It's the spinning type one, and I have maxed res and 1k health approx (lvl 80 or so) as a forgemaster fw build, with apathy's maw, 2 phantom grips and good enough equipment. I got 2 shotted by its spells tho. Is my level too low, or this difficulty is just expected & I need to git gud?
2nd Harbinger means empowered right?
Maxed resist is more a default here and 1k HP is superlow for that part of the game. You should aim here for 2-2,5k rather.
Also you should bring now additional defense layers in place if you want to raise the corruption level.
Perhaps #🔱┃sentinel is a good place to drop your build and ask for tips

When converting dodge into armor what order is it done in?
- flat dodge changes into armor and gets increased armor multiplier applied to it
- flat dodge gets increased dodge multiplier applied to it and changes into armor (that doesnt get increased armor)

I am just using my first loot filter and I was wondering, if i can somehow inspect dropped glowing indicated tems that are "prohibited" by the lootfilter, so check, if it is working properly. Is there a hotkey for temporarly en-/disabling the lootfilter?
actually your eye was likely placed into the key slot on the altar, except that it's locked in the UI cause you haven't met the condition yet. When you kill all 10 harbs and unlock aby you are likely to find your eye slotted into it already

it's both, compared to many other games LE is generally on the easy side until you start pushing endgame, which heavily contributes to the variety of viable builds. Dev set standards for build power are pretty low and way below what the community considers to be the true benchmark

you just need dungeon keys, but there is little realistic possibility for you to drop a TS key in time to leverage that skip on your fist character since key drops are fairly high level
You only need to choose between cof & mg. Others are available as you unlock their requirements

depends on the item, all unique items have something called legendary potential level which determines how easily they get LP values. LPL doesn't always correlate with the item's level. TLDR is that 3 lp is helluva rare for most items, but for some of the most "easy" it's relatively common

BinaQc tornado might be the best (beginner friendly) starter, with the warcry and tornado buff. but its a personal opinion ofc 🤭
MM has a tendency to be squishy due to it having extreme range and (at least before lots of power creep in past couple patches) high damage. We'll see tomorrow if they address its low defensive ability this patch.

if you mean "fair" tanky character than perhaps something like consecrated ground paladin but it's a far cry from the OP ward builds

If just tanking everything with no particular concern for any other aspect of your build is the goal, Rebuke + Apostate's Sanctuary is pretty funny. Nobody actually plays it, but it definitely exists.

no it's just increased damage per point of stat
but most attributes also have other ways of scaling either inherently or via passives
i.e. int has 4% (soon to be 2%) ward retention and a good dozens of passives or nodes that scale with it in various mage trees
I guess this depends on many different factors, so it's not really a yes or no answer. Let's say the skill scales with spell damage, intelligence and lightning damage. If you're flat spell damage is very low, then a 6% increase is not that good. And if your lightning damage is very high, increasing the damage of the skill greatly, then the 4% increase from Intelligence is better, since it increases the base damage of the skill provided by the good lightning damage? Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but that's my understanding of it.

the skill can have literally every possible tag in the game, the crux of the problem here is that attribute scaling is increased damage which adds additively with all other sources of increased damage
So if a spell is "Lightning and Spell", then 1 int is the same as 4% increased spell damage, 4% increased lightning damage, and 4% increased damage.

Correct me if I am wrong, but for what I could see is that intel usually has far less ranges than other affix scaling (despite having a skill effectiveness of 4% which represents 4x). Therefore, making it almost always worse than other affixes such as spell, elemental, lightning etc?
Lets take the above images as an example. 4 x 4(%) is 16% increase which is far less than the other stats. I know the tiers differ, but tier 3 would be more or less 20%+
The base wep is treated as 100%, so yes the 300% added damage scaling will multiply it.
But Intelligence has defensive properties too.

Health, attributes, melee crit, crit multi, +skill affixes, hybrid bow crit. Pretty much the most widely used and important things. (Might be an argument for some of the hybrid pen affixes too.)

Eh, it could be, it could not be. Without dev confirmation I don't think it can actually be confirmed. It doesn't look similar, at all, and LE's is in reference to brewing potions (Mad Alchemist), while DS2's was just a normal wooden ladle.

So basically, when you click on something like a box, stash, any bigger interactables, your character moves to where you clicked even if you are in range of the object, which results in you walking over to the other side of something when you just try to interact with it
every non-ui click results in you moving except for when you are literally blocked by an object, resulting in annoying stutter-stepping or running around objects
We have one that is just Alchemist's Ladle, Mad Alchemist came later

the reason for this seems to be that the game tries to move you into the object youre clicking on, which doesnt work and pathfinds around it instead of just standing still and opening whatever you clicked on

Umjols' shock chance only applies to swipe, so you can't expect it to check the chance of every skill you have.

No, I don't think so. Plenty of nodes in the game have uniques properties that unable unique and perhaps unusual builds. That is the whole idea behind the game

That node is effectively a convert node, there's multiples of these and they're generally consistent.

It must be the same base: A set item shard from a staff can only be crafted onto a staff.

the only thing that still bother me is having to click on the shards. walking on them should make them directly in inventory. because it makes you backtrack so much...

If you're not constantly dying, it's fine. I believe the XP is up to your character level +10. Example, if you're a level 75 character in an area level 90, you earn XP as if you were in an area level 85. Which is fine, you still level up without issue. As long as you're not struggling

Why do I see stacking of necrotic resists for some warlocks? Like to the point where it's waaaaay over 75%.
the skill "Chthonic fissure" have a node scaling with necrotic res and there is a passive in warlock that gives ward decay threshold and the Helmet "Boneclamor Barbute" gives ward based on necrotic res
so you get damage and and survivability at the same time

I am playing a mage, so thus far I've only been focusing on ward and ward retention. No dodge, armor or block. In fact, not even health 😅

health and ward are interchangeable, you don't need one if you have the other. For armor, easy pick ups are mono blessings and high level bases with more armor. Dodge stacking on mage is iffy at best, you have no support for it in your trees, skills, or much of anything else really.

Right, but poe2 allows you to move while using abilities. I have no basis for this opinion, but I think that wasd only feels good because you can move while using abilities. If you could wasd in poe1/LE it would feel much worse than it does in poe2

all they really have to do is make you move really slow so its like ur not moving at all
even slight movement on locked abilities will make them feel a lot better
it doesn't only feel good because of that, stutter step kiting on mouse is way less chill than WASD version of that

We know that the person in the videos and on your mana globe are the Observer. Note that the Observer on your globe is chained up. The Shade of Orobyss, which is a reflection of Orobyss's despair from his imprisonment happens to look exactly like the observer, but corrupted.
Oh yeah, also Kyle definitely used Orobyss and Observer interchangeably in one of Mike's streams
My personal theory is that we're the ones who chain him up at the end of the campaign

Season 2 is on the 17th. If you want to play in Legacy game mode, your character progress will not be reset. Although depending on what class you play, it's possible passives could be respecced or something.
If you want to play Seasonal game mode, that will start over for Season 2. Note that Legacy and Season currently have the same content. Just separate economies, leaderboards, etc.

are you comparing to poe2 campaign? it's pretty short compared to that, and there's parts you can skip also. even more parts you can skip with the upcoping s2 changes
i don't feel like it takes a long time. you technically can go into the end game as soon as you reach the end of time area, which you do early in the game when you select your mastery. although a level like 15-20 character in a level 58 area is rough.
so people usually do some of the campaign before going into end game

ask your friend what game mode they're going to be playing in. if they're going to be playing in Legacy, you can keep playing the same character. if they're going to be playing Season, they'll be making a new character when that starts and you'll need to as well to play with them.

Is there any class that is forced to use minions in all of their specializations? I hate minions so i'm trying to see which class to avoid
you can avoid minions all together if you want...even on necromancer and beastmaster (not sure how well those perform without minions) but all classes can be played without the use of minions

not really and there's not much to spend gold on. the only gold sinks are buying stash tabs and the vault door in lightless arbor that you can throw gold at.
like buying all 200 stash tab is about 91 million https://lastepoch.tunklab.com/stash after the costs were reduced

I can't play as many hours as 70% or 50% of players, and that doesn't give me enough time to test things.

It's random, but it follows a rule. Higher corruption = higher spawn chance. If you go backwards into campaign, they'll also stop spawning.

Thanks. Noob q but do I need to manually increase my corruption on that shade echo little by little, or is the increase substantial at higher level? It's only increasing by 6-7 corrupts now, and I just killed my 1st harbinger and got to 100 corrupts
The farther out from the center you go, the more corruption the Shade gives. Also completing the timeline boss grants you Gaze of Orobyss (you can see on the top-left of the web below corruption) which helps you go up faster. When you kill harbingers, they can also drop needles which are consumable idols that you can get extra Gaze with.
When it's time for you to move on to a new timeline, you will be able to catch up very quick

There are 2 harbinger archtypes; agile and tank. Each timeline have fixed harbinger archtype. Tribeam is in the Last Ruin Timeline
The tri-beam one is a skinny one

never played aboms. but they absolutely murder single target stuff. clear isnt as good as falcon they have to melee things, but they get enough movement speed that eventually thats not a huge issue

Whatever you want. They give two options so you can play how you like.
If you like using auction houses, buying/selling, and trading to get your gear play Merchant's Guild.
If you don't want to scroll through auction house listings and prefer to just grind for your items play Circle of Fortune. Also if you're playing offline, do CoF as there isn't much point to MG offline.
I imagine it's by game mode, for example all characters who share the same stash. Like how the crafting materials work.
They didn't specify if there's a cap. If it's like the crafting materials there's probably no cap. Guess we'll find out soon.

Your scorpion doesn't need to be damaged, it can just be a little fiddly to target it sometimes. Hopefully the S2 smart targeting will help, but idk.
