Torment Warlock. There's a number of Necro minion builds as well. I think it's probably just Lich that isn't doing as well
But you can still make Lich builds that work. I just found it hard to go back to my Lich after playing Torment Warlock or Necromancer.
Cold minions have some strong support in uniques and set items. Your options are just limited since there aren't many cold minions to choose from, but cold archmage is great.
is there a massive xp spike around skill level 18 ? Im making barely any %progress while grinding monoliths

Kind of, compared to the pace you're used to. The next lvl is even slower, but eventually you'll reach a point in empowered monoliths where it's trivial to respec a skill entirely, then level it from 10 to 20 in less than a map
this is where I have no idea how to check current xp, how much is remaining etc
Thats all you get for xp bars/numbers in game.
Yeah it slows down a lil bit, but its also player level capped so generally you arent really behind unless you respec alot

thats totally what i expected but a person can dream of double dipping lol. so the uniques that give increased fire/cold/electric damage. you're not really double dipping at all. I guess its good levelling gear thats flexible for multiple builds?

The flat +lighting is added based on the damage effectiveness. The % increased lighting would just increase the lightning damage. Example, if you also had flat +fire damage then then % increased lighting wouldn't increase that flat +fire damage.
Note that an item with +Spell damage is adaptive, it'll just be whatever the skill damage type is.

It's why you usually see builds focus mostly on one damage type. But there are some that use more than one, like elemental nova Kzb mentioned

Yes, but you'd just have that flat +cold being increased by the % increased cold. And you wouldn't get the benefit from any lightning shred or penetration (if you were focusing on lighting)

You can -res enemies the same way you can -res yourself with enough poison stacks
Yeah push them into the negatives for extra damage
Example, if the enemy is magic or rare with Of the Gales then they have bonus Cold Damage and +Cold Res. So that enemy would have Cold Res, but without modifiers they'd have zero res.
why does the game reset my graphic settings on launch?
So last night I did the first "timeline quest" and the game crashed as soon as I finished it. Tonight I did the second one and the game crashed as soon as I finished it. Is this something that's going to happen every time I finish a timeline quest?
"quest timeline echo" to be specific. The one I finished last night gave me credit for finishing, this second one didn't even though they both crashed exactly when the rewards popped up. So I guess I try again ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Once you enter empowered, and therefore level 100 content, the LP chance will raise only very slightly by pushing corruption.
Basically you should be able to find any unique with a maximum (realistic) LP already iirc

You can use the Passive Tree Progression slider to see where to put points and when, you can also use the levelling guides to help too
For Gear - Maxroll does have several options on each build so you can progress more smoothly

This also goes for stun, as bosses also have 50% more health for the purposes of stun calculation. One of the core reasons freeze and stun builds don’t really exist

Sounds like I'm ready for a full respec soon. Like the style has been kind of fun but I'm noticing less and less frozen enemies and especially bosses.
I liked this idea of killing frozen targets at a certain health threshold, even though that node seemed a bit unclear of what exactly that certain health threshold is.
I looked it up. I guess I understand now why it worked during campaign but stopped working after a while.
I guess for a mercy my damage is still good so I haven't felt the consequences of it not working.
There goes my idea to freeze enemies with flame ward retaliation too.

I just tested this with malestrom and warcry,
if you have the 1s frenzy from maelstrom (which is refreshing constantly) then when you get the for example 2.5s frenzy from warcry,
the frenzy buff lasts until it is again refreshed by the 1s frenzy from warcry when it has 1s or less duration remaining
necrotic is just one type of damage no different from fire, void, physical etc.

It is just a damage type like fire, frost and so on. Not comparable with the special attributes that chaos dmg in PoE has (piercing shields or such)
keep in mind there is no chaos like in PoE, no type of damage ignores energy shield (ward in last epoch)

It's unlikely that verifying my game files would fix it. These two crashes happened on two separate installations (first on Steam Deck, then on PC), so it's likely some combination of something about my character plus finishing a quest timeline as I hadn't had a single crash in the ~20 hours before getting to that point in the game--and then it happened twice. I was able to complete 3 more timelines and it didn't crash though ¯_(ツ)_/¯ (it's also too late to report if it only reports the curent plus previous session as I've launched the game more times than that now)
As a new player, any recommendations with using the loot filter buy just learning the basic and go from there, or use import one and learn from what they use?
Learning to make one is imo very easy and the earlier you start the better.
Start with some simple rules to hide what you already know that you don't want to see and expand from there over time.
I personally like VERY strict filters for example, but think that is a thing for more experienced players.
I prefer very strict ones, too. Usually I make one filter rule for every slot with the general affixes I want on this item. Then I duplicate the rule and make it more strict. Rinse and repeat until I have ~ 4 rules per slot. Then over time as my gear get's better, I simply deactivate the less strict ones
I approach very similar, with 1-3 or sometimes 4 rules per slot. Also depends on how much builds are in my filter. I like to have one lootfilter for all chars.
But to have rules per slot is a good idea imo, once you are advanced in understanding what you want and what not
Usually I play one, maybe two chars and put like the very strict filter rules of char X into the filter for char Y and vice versa. Don't wanna miss the really fancy stuff 😄

🤔 I've personally always used regular HDR w/ Auto HDR disabled, just because I didn't like how Auto HDR looked when I first got my monitor and tested out the different settings on various games. That's interesting to note that it can have performance implications, but makes sense, since the OS is needing to do extra computations post-render. I'm not finding much related to the performance of Auto HDR online, but def gonna research this more. Screenshot is my HDR settings, for reference.

thus autoHDR disturbs it somehow

but with tq it did not crash that often
better stick to "natural" HDR from now on

Once you reach the End of Time area, maybe around level 20ish for your first character, You will select a Mastery and the Mastery cannot be changed. You can choose between Sorcerer, Spellblade, and Runemaster.

Of those three masteries, Sorcerer or Spellblade would be a little easier for a new player. I like Runemaster but it is more a bit complicated.
If you ever played DotA, think Invoker and that's kind of like Runemaster.
Do you ever fight with the swords as a Spellblade?
Spellblade uses some abilities that are closer range and there are some special sword types later that give +Spell damage that Spellblade can use.
But you're not really smacking them in the head with the sword.

Yes but it sells for very little gold. And if you leave an area to go sell stuff, the area resets. So you're best off just picking up things you might want to use. Later in the game you'll have tons of gold, so you don't really need to pick up things to sell.

Yes, there's no escaping normal monoliths. Glyph of envys would help speed it up (Gives you instant quest boss echo's amount of stability)

What are some thoughts on party members gaining corruption from killing shade of orobyss? Currently the system feels bad because only the host receives completion and creates differences on co-op progression. Could the corruption be spendable to reroll map mods, monolith rewards, reroll mods on blessings, other things? This would help create a system that could lower corruption and not let players constantly be carried.
The only thing that party members don't get is progress on the echo map, which includes corruption.
You can still just get the loot and the quest completions and the boons, etc.
By the way, now that I think about it, stacking less modifiers has diminishing returns, unlike stacking more modifiers, right?

when i get a reward from completing a prophecy and also when i put a unique in a nemesis and empower it does the area level/corruption/rarity mod affect the outcomes of these at all? is it a mistake to complete a rare mob prophecy in a low level temp sanctum or to empower/fight a nemesis in a low level temp sanctum?

The quest echoes are on the top left, the 3 "quests". Click on them to trigger them, once you have the stability.
I have enough stability but they are still locked
Nothing affects empower results.
Prophecies are affected by corruption for LP chance - the boost is really minor, so no sweat if you pop some outside of the monolith.
If you're in normal monoliths, you have to do them in order. You should have one unlocked. If you need more help, send a screenshot.

Last I checked the boss wont give you another set of drops, but I'm not too sure.

I always look for possible synergies between the skills. And how I want do deal damage. Like hit dmg, dot dmg, melee, range, spell, minion

I'd add buff and sustain skills to this list. They aren't strictly necessary either (that's only the main dps skill) but they are nice to get when you have a slot left
You'll most likely still need one since evade has zero i-frames, and is not much faster for movement.

My build as an example:
Storm totem uses the skill tree of my gathering storm skill.
Gatherin storm creates storm stacks. My totem's hit can give me storm stacks aswell, because I've skilled that.
My thorn totems are auto cast via Idol and get consumed to buff my storm totem, which then deals more damage.
My maelstrom casts storm bolts, which use the skill tree of gathering storm, too.
Maelstrom is self cast via passives and skill tree.
My 80% movement speed rogue gets by without one

Lightning Blast does Lightning damage, obviously, but I can specialise it so it does Cold damage instead.
My actual question is: would Lightning Blast now benefit from both Lightning scaling and Cold scaling since it initially does Lightning damage and is converting all that element to cold or am I just being dumb?
I'm assuming it loses the Lightning tag and adds Cold instead and only benefits from Cold though. XD

Most builds won't hit the armour softcap (it's stupid high, 85%), so it's a matter of having a decent amount of it.
Like I've been doing just fine relying on ward and damage reduction passives.
But idk how long that will last.

That sounds like a caster's armour DR, yeah.
Will getting more armor from passives do anything? Like maybe it's actually more effective when your starting value is already low?
% armour would multiply off base/flat armour, just like health and daamge. So it would depend on how much you already have
It seems most nodes on mage give flat.
The formula is very complicated, does it require progressively more total armor to raise the total reduction?
Armour should be affected by diminishing returns, which means that above a certain value, each point more armour gives less and less dmg reduction
You could compare that to cars. A 50hp car can drive 100 km/h. But a 100hps doesn't necessarily can drive 200km/h and a 150 hp car surly won't reach 300 km/h. The faster you want to go, the more power you need to get one more km/h

Yes to both of these. It does have a reduced chance to roll LP though.
If you don't want to start over, you can continue on your legacy character. That might be good if you want to experience more of the endgame. Otherwise, making a new character is always fun and there's not another reset until april.

linear reductions like with multiple reduced modifiers end up being absurdly powerful when applied to damage reduction
because they give increasing returns for every point
1% additive dr is a 1% overall improvement in damage reduction if you don't have any other sources, but a 50% overall improvement if you already have 98%
so from a design perspective they're best avoided
as far as i know there's only one way to have more than one source of additive damage resistance, that being combining aspect of the boar with reduced damage taken on block

And I guess, I treat it as "diminishing returns" because the flat amount of damage you're avoiding goes down with each separate 10% less modifier. Like, I don't think you can get enough simultaneous ones for it to have a negligible effect, but I do think it's something for me worth considering none the less.

the other side of this is all these DR effects dramatically increase the power of your sustain. if you had 100,000 life but no DR and took a hit for half your health, you need to somehow restore 50,000 life before the next swing lands. If you have 2500 life but 100,000 EHP due to DR and took a 50% hit, you only need to recover 1250 life. you can get away with much less sustain if you just build for DR instead of 'beef'. These examples are kind of extreme, but 100k EHP is certainly possible.

not against the cost, but most channeling skills allow regen during the channel. this used to not be the case, and some channeled skills still disable mana regen while active.

So 10 mana regen with a skill of a channeling cost of 25 means you drain 15 mana per second instead.

My friend and I tried to do the harbringer quest part 2. We defeated the end boss of last ruin on corruption 100 but the harbringer didn't spawn. What went wrong?
you need to keep the corruption up according to the quest. you also cannot kill the same harb more than once for teh quest

So, this build stacks cold damage for earthquake which i have trouble understanding how it increases the damage of earthquake as earthquake cannot be converted to cold in any way. Does anyone know why this apparently works?
if you killed him already, and its your monolith, prolly isnt going to spawn.
id make sure the other guy is the party leader and using his monolith
looks like he is using the "Shattered Lance set" to scale cold damage with super high health regen + flat cold melee damage on the sword and the sceptre. Only the implicit melee damage of the sword and sceptre is considered physical for earthquake. The skill does not have to be cold to scale cold damage.
Yeah, meteor bear would probably still be using rampage for clear. I don't know if actual storm bolt rampage is viable; before rampage's lightning strikes were changed to storm bolt they were very good and could be run as a build, I just haven't looked into it since.
Weird that they would use a scepter for shattered lance, but not pick ice sceptre for a free extra chunk of flat cold...

+x to skills and hybrid health are the most important ones, at season start i'll shatter them even on lower levels
early in a season, or on SSF i usually start at tier 3, then as i get enough to craft 1-2 items (5-10 shards) of most things i'll bump to t5 so i'm picking up less items. once i've gotten to 20-30 class shards of everything i turn it off.

Interesting. The 12% endurance probably doesn't do much for me, but +1 to all skills seems great. It's procing and giving me anywhere from 2k to 15k shields, and I'm mostly wakling through blood, frost, and death at 491 corruption
Weaver's items don't have LP, they have randomized affixes, that you have to "reveal" by wearing the item, which then "levels it up" and reveals the affixes, and the number of tiers is the number of the weaver's will item. So when you see "Weaver's WIll 16" that means it could have a T6 affix and two T5 affixes 6 + 5 + 5 = 16. These items cannot be "slammed" like a unique with LP
when is the story going to be finished?
if you really want an affix you should first try to get it with rune of removal, because it gives you all the shards
rune of shattering instead gives 0-all shards for every affix

A mob gives a certain amount of exp, based on its level.
Kill higher level mobs = higher exp gain
It's tied to the area level. Killing mobs 11 or more levels above you will only give xp as if they are only 10 levels above you.

It started sometime this summer. Don’t remember exactly. But they did a reset in October if I remember correctly and moved all cyclone chars from before that date to legacy.

So what's the general strategy around what to break down? I'm level 27 and wondering if I should just be saving my runes until endgame or if there's anything I should be shattering along the way?
so 27 is pretty early and you're going to quickly run out of shatters and not enough money to purchase a lot more. later in the game, you'll have a lot more money, so it's easier to purchase extra shatters at 3k gold each, when needed. if you have an item you don't want that has an affix you want to craft, feel free and occasionally shatter.
in the late game, i use the shatter runes on items that have an affix i may want to use in crafting. note that shatter always gives at least one affix shard, but on items with more than one affix, it randomly gives you between zero and tier number of affix shards for each affix. Example, T2 Strength and T7 +skill, maybe shatter just gives you a single Strength shard affix and zero +skill. or maybe 2 Strength - which is the max for that affix as it was T2 - and zero +skill, etc. so it's possible that shatter may give you zero of the affix you want.
if it's an affix you really need, for example maybe you're looking for a +skills shard, you may want to consider using removal instead first. removal always gives you the tier number in affix shards on what it removes. remove a T7 affix? you get 7 affix shards. now you can still have removal not get the affix you want and the item run out of forging potential. but you can still shatter on an item with zero FP. so maybe you'll still get it with a shatter in the end.

i don't know why but with my thorn totem shaman i'm getting problems visualizing attack with aoe from mobs. It happens mostly with void siege tower monoliths and with the ice nemesis circling vortexes. It does not happen with other classes. Is it a known bug?

The reason the build uses Wings of Argentus is for the reduced damage taken while moving. The only way it increases your DPS is if you are able to add the recommended T7 affix to it, explained in the bottom part of your screenshot.

Okay so I'm actually at the cap of smites per second then - the only other buff I can get there is finding another Palarus for the additional smite cast percentage to actually use the attack speed I've got(Other than just raw dps from rive)

Smite, when cast on hit, can only be casted 3 times a second. Assuming you have 100% cast on hit chance, that'd be the cap. My point is that my Palarus can only cast it 32% of the time(bad roll unfortunately), so I'd need to find another Palarus to get the percentage up further to more effectively use the cast smite percentage and attack speed
If you hit a pack you can proc multiple Smite

Once you beat a regular timeline with your alt you can go to the blessing npc and get Empowered Blessings from that timeline. If your 1st char has done it and they are min rolled. But still its a nice power boost

Hi all, been a hot minute since I last played, I think I played when multi first launched then stopped shortly after. Is there some kind of fix for never being able to enter the game? I launch it from steam, play online, select my character and try to join the world but I am just stuck endlessly loading into the old road on the cycle world / server
yeah, i think with poe2 doing it, the player base will pressure ehg into doing it now. i dont think it will be 'soon'/'soon enough' though.
thats normally where vpn's block LE for whatever reason. if you have one, make sure its fully shut down
man this is really annoying if that is the case, looked up online and people in the LE forums seem to be a coin flip if the same vpn will let them play or not.
yeah. im no expert, but, i assume it has something to do with the routing the vpns take. idk if its more of an LE problem or a VPN problem. but they often dont play well together.

Anyone else getting massive FPS drops randomly? It's only LE, the rest of my PC isn't struggling, RAM is only on 50% Usage, CPU sub 15%, running a 4070 Super and a 7800X3D, so shouldn't be a hardware issue.. And it's not consistent.. (Except the last 2 monos on my Summoner just now...)

but also there are times where its just the game/certain collection of mobs/projectile attacks that dont play well. if it happens, try and do a bug report about it and what might be causing it. like ice elemental projectile attacks were a big issue in previous patches

A bunch of new shrines have been added, But am I just doing something wrong, or does the "Open port till end of floor of dungeon"-Shrine straight up not work, and the "Beam of physical damage rotates around you" not show up in-game at all, but somehow still doing stuff?

The portal shrine likely opens the portal somewhere nearby, it's a bug in dungeons (or at least sanctum) with shrines that create game objects afaik, like the gold shrines or any that spawn minions.
Yea ok, I've done quite a lot of the Soulfire Bastion, and have yet to see the portal spawn.. 😄

Glyph of chaos replaces a target affix with another at random, but the affix needs to be T4 or less. Glyph of despair can seal an affix, it's guaranteed to work on a T1 affix on a 4-affix exalted item, but still decent chance at T2-3.

If you can't with the in game settings, you can also check the steam overlay controller stuff. You might be able to do it with that instead

You normally don't dodge stack with gear, just with skills and passives.

it doesnt. currently you have to backtrack to get them
tho there are more quests than rewards you can get. so you dont always have to backtrack
just depends on what you do and what you skip

hey, blessings: when you beat a boss and reroll blessings, do all the 'best' rolls for each blessing get saved at the vendor that lets you respec those blessings or do they only keep the ones that you've chosen from a boss kill and let you swap those around?

yes, the vendor will save blessings at their highest roll for the character they were unlocked with
Just keep in mind it doesn't work right for the few blessings that have two stats. It saves the copy of whichever blessing has the highest roll for the first stat, regardless of whatever the second stat rolled.
Try verifying the integrity of your files, but most likely deleting the ini should fix it

damage types and methods do not have inherent scaling from attributes. What does apply is attribute scaling for skills, if you apply a damaging ailment with a skill that gets % increased damage from str, that % increased damage will apply to the ailment

you can apply frostbite with a str based fire damage attack and it'll still get the str scaling

it shouldn't say: "you have a chance to apply bleed when you hit an enemy afflicted by spirit plague" as that suggests conditionally applied generic stats which if implemented that way would scale with the skill that did the hit, not spirit plague.
it should instead say "spirit plague has a chance to apply bleed when you hit an enemy afflicted with it"
Yeah, it's worded kinda weird and doesn't function the way we'd expect more modern effects to work. It's very similar to how bone curse's bleed works.
It doesn't scale with attributes nor any of spirit plague's nodes though, other than the laceration node itself and the bleed penetration node

There is a rule amount limit - 75, iirc. Also if one rule overrides another it could cause issues.
You could combine them though I'd recommend manually checking each rule for anything that's been doubled up or might cause conflicts like 'Hide all Not-My-Class Uniques'
uh, to an extent yeah. but there is the 75 rule limit, which could possibly mess it up a little. but i dont mess with the actual text file too much. i just do in manually ingame

Anyone got experience playing the Aura of Decay Lich build in the latest patch?
I remember it being my main Mono-Farmer in the beta, since it rushed thru everything super ez, but I haven't been reading the balance patches much, and just see no one is really playing it on the ladder, so woried the damage won't keep up?

Your head math sounds right, the 1 LP prophecy is never worth the high cost. In extreme end game it doesn't even benefit you at all since it doesn't affect odds of 2+ LP.
Yeah, especially with the COF rank….6?or 7? Bonus increasing LP1 chances. I rarely get LP0 gear nowadays

It would scale the DoT applied by that skill. DoTs basically indirectly inherit attribute boosts from the skill that applied them.

In the past, it has been frostbite shackles and stacking cold res. That was nerfed by half so not sure what the strategy is nowadays, but probably mostly look at uniques that grant ward retention

the in game bug report sends your game log files by default, which should have some helpful info for them to use to figure out the issue

why does my game start lagging after previously minimizing the screen. I turn on the game, go to the character, everything works, then I minimize the game to windows and go back, but then my character starts running backwards and the whole screen has an uncontrolled drop in game fluidity

leaving the map has always reset the map you are in, including wiping items on the ground. one of the reasons its best to never go back and sell items. really shouldnt ever leave a map to go to town ever.
