The games been in early access by since 2019 i really don’t want hear the excuses . We are in 2024 ….. nobody asked them to release with a horrible server infrastructure. If u want talk about how a company works. A actual company would sit down and analyze how popular the game has gain attraction before launch and estimated an influx in players and delayed the game to work on the backend. Or delayed and ran a stress test. These things aren’t rocket science. As 3 previous EA games have ran stress test before launch. It’s better for the game to delay then have a horrible first impression in everyone’s mouth. To also add on they literally gave content creators EA and were doing twitch drops how did they not expect a large number of players??? It doesn’t really make sense to me. They're stuck with the same error everyone else in the world has. If you were in the game before the matchmaking servers were taken down then you're still in the game but can't transition between zones. Streamers don't have special powers... Yes but its not rocket science really, nowadays cloud computing aint rocket science, you can do easy autoscaling, the problem seems to be architectural, i think every single player creates a new instance because i dont see anyone on my group, So you would imagine if a "pod" needs to be created for each player instance, that'd be horrible.....

If a pod is hosting multiple instances, then it'd be even worse architectured as then it would mean whole load is handled by microservices.

Correct architecture would have been to do only instanced content the group content, not every single map. WIth some horizontal scaling on the server but mainly vertical scaling on most of the "shared stuff"....

But hey, lets just use microservices because its the new thing (not really tho) without even knowing if its needed everywhere

i just think that love it or hate it but the architecture of D4 is really nice (and yet Blizzard still manages to screw it), if you see, they load most of the world for multiple users, so architecturally is easier, here it seems every zone is instanced for the player, with only towns being shared (which btw sucks, i want to find people), i dont know if its because of the issues right now that im not seeing people or what, but its kind of a letdown im seeing people only on towns, i think they will have to change that, as doing a single instance for each player on the world is just stupid from a resource standpoint (btw this discord cooldown sucks)

for right now it doesn't change much i think, but in the future cycles will have themed mechanics or content or bosses that will be exclusive to that cycle, one a cycle ends your characters go to legacy, its a way to keep everything fresh and with new stuff every couple months
