Ok, deleting and recreating a bunch of empty categories restored the missing stash tabs in one of the generic categories i recreated, so this does allow for a end user to sort of self service around this bug

How does experience gain work? Is there such thing as powerleveling in this game? If I am level 1 and go to end game with a friend who is 80 does either of us gain less experience or more? It seems no matter where I am at what level the leveling is fairly consistent.

When you use an ascendance rune does the base of the item need to be the same as the item you're trying to acquire. For example if I'm going for unique sword Aurelis, does the base I use the rune on need to be a longsword or if I use it on any base sword it'll have a chance to become that weapon.

If I have a unique item with legendary potential and I craft something onto it, can I over write it later with something else if it gets a bad stat on it from crafting. Or do I need to find the same unique with legendary potential again and start over?

kinda, legendary items can't have legendary potential. I'm not sure if it technically actually gets changed or not because it isn't displayed on legendary items and they can't be used anyways.

Generic crit still applies to spells (which can still be physical spells, btw). The more specific spell crit affixes just roll higher values.
This talents adds Nothing for the fire golems Nova to apply ignite or??
there are 4 damage types, melee, spell, bow and throwing.
there are 7 elements fire, cold, lightning, PHYSICAL, necrotic, poison and void.
any stat can be augmented with one of these tags. For example you can have 10% increased critical hit chance. This applies 10% increased crit chance to all your hits.
If you have 10% increased spell crit chance, this applies 10% increased crit chance to all your spell hits.
if you have 10% increased fire crit chance, this applies 10% increased crit chance to all your fire hits.
if you have 10% increased fire spell crit chance, this applies 10% increased crit chance to all your fire spell hits.
you can substitute any type out for spell and any element out for fire and it still works

Mage's Static tree, Diode reduces charges used to Zap and Unstable increases cost in a %. Which happens first? Is it (10 * 1.4) - 5 = 9 or (10 -5) *1.4 = 7
the golem nova ability should tell you from tags if you hold alt on that node if it's a melee or spell ability (it's a spell by the way) then you can cross reference that with this node to see that the node applies melee ignite chance so it doesn't work
ahh gotcha - the nova says Nothing about ignite at all, do all fire spells automatically ignite or does it specifically have to state that it ignites??

things can only ignite if they have ignite chance and it should say it if it does

A question regarding detonating arrow: If I scale the dmg with mana cost, elemental arrows, and dark quiver. I also have Rapid detonation and suckerpunch arrow passives. If i hit a monster with a first arrow with all the dmg bonuses from mana, elemental arrows and dark quiver, then my second arrow that triggers the suckerpunch DONT have elemental arrows and dark quiver buff, will the explosion still get the damage bonuses from the first arrow?

It does work - Minion Health far outstrips most Minion Regen at later levels/Stats (Intelligence for Skeletons), so it's less noticeable then.

"a sword" is a specific ability, that ability has to be the thing that lands the killing blow.
So smite does it proc it?

This contradicts the wording in the text above the node (which is not too surprising) but there's also a node in Spriggan Form that explicitly refers to the "summoning speed" stat for summoning totems faster.

How does Unstable (trigger Zap multiple times) interact with Unlimited Power (trigger Lightning Blast instead of Zap)?
Diode's charge cost reduction states that it only applies to Zap, but I've tested charge usage and it seems like it also applies to Lightning Blast when using Unlimited Power, so I'm not sure if the Unstable multitrigger node works the same way.

Okay, testing results for Unstable and Unlimited Power (putting it here in case someone in the future asks, so that test result is ctrl+f'able)
Setup 1: Max out Static charges, find the only dummy in Champion's Arena that Static procs against (it only procs on dummies named Enemy Training Dummy, not dummies named Training Dummy). Wait for a while and see if multiple procs occur (ie 2x Shock procs per second). Current test setup has ~50% proc chance, so chance of a double proc is ~25%.
Result 1: After waiting for ~20s, no double-ailment hits. Explanation: Lightning Blast never proc'd twice against the lone dummy.
Setup 2: Running around in low-level areas with 1 point in Unstable and 1 point in Unlimited Power (I also have +1 chain from the LB tree that I was too lazy to despec). See how many enemies are damaged per second with Lightning Blast. If proc'ing twice, we would expect to see 2x2 hits/s (2 casts times 2 hits per cast due to the chain)
Result 2: Sometimes I saw 3 hits/s, sometimes I saw 5. Typically, however, I saw 4. I don't have any DoTs proc'able, nor any secondary skills, so possible targeting bug? Regardless, it roughly matches the predicted "casts against X unique enemies" behavior.

Conclusion: With Unstable and Unlimited Power, Lightning Blast IS triggered multiple times, but cannot target the same enemy with multiple casts. Targeting seems inconsistent but it's good enough for mobbing.
Unstable says it targets more enemies, not re-casting so that'd make sense.
I've been trying to figure out how Lightning Blast's Convergence node (LB now only chains to the first target hit) works with Overcharge and Hypercharge (25% chance to double/quad cast) and I'm a little confused. It seems like when the extra casts proc they don't target the same unit, which is fine, but the extra casts don't seem to have any chain's via Convergence. Am I just seeing it wrong, or is that intended maybe?
the wield dagger prefix double dips lightning and throwing attack - is this intended?
it's a little hard to see but it should just look like a big ball of lightning on one target

Yeah that's not what it's doing, if I cast on a pack of mobs when the double/quad cast triggers it pretty clearly hits a bunch of different targets once and the "main" target the right number of times based on chain. I'll submit a bug. Thanks!
I cant find it anywhere when searching. But I'm wondering how come the design choice for masteries went the way it did with no possibility to change mastery (i.e from necro to lich etc) ? Most aRPGs have some sort of way to actually change 'sub-class" so I'm curious as to the thoughts on why it was decided this way, if that's okay to ask
In-game I do not see any options for the inventory selection, or what buttons are being used by the controller. I think its bugged, half the buttons are just blank and others are selected. (I use a Steam Controller)
We look at it like it's the second half of your class selection, it's very core to the character's identity and we didn't think that was appropriate to be changed once selected. You can always leave a #suggestions-and-like-to-see to have it be more open if you want too.
(with discord you can put from: and then it will start auto completing names as you type, if you put my name in with a good search term after, you can find a TON of stuff. You can also use In: to limit it to a single channel)

Instead of making the joystick act as a dpad in Steam Controller Layout config, I think it's better to have the settings directly in game and we can change them somehow.

Anyway it didn't work well with the abilities either because all casts were far away from my char for some reason, for example, abyssal echoes was being cast so far away (as far as the range can be) instead of at my char (like pointing with a mouse)

so explain reroll chance. cause gear or item DROP from bosses and monsters. so reroll chance means....?
Each item has an inherent reroll chance tied to it. When that item drops it makes a check to see if it stays as that item or if it rolls into a different one.

None of what the other person said is relevant to Throne, since it's a boss drop. It has a % chance to drop from the boss which is modified by item rarity on your monolith when you do the boss based on your echo modifiers and corruption. I believe the base chance is like 10% but that's conjecture on my part

There aren't any pity systems but technically all of it is pseudoRNG because we don't use true RNG. It does use several layers so it's pretty strong and for all practical purposes, is proper random. (Almost no game in the world uses real RNG)
Is this intended behavior or a bug:
Lightning Blast triggered from Unlimited Power is unable to trigger other skills. I have multiple "X to trigger on hit" effects (spark charges and spark nova) and none of them are activating.
Tested by standing at dummies in town and counting hits/s against the lone target dummy.
I'm not sure about whether or not triggerception is intended behavior or not.

Not much. You can drag them, they'll get exp capped at a 10 level difference. No punishment or anything.

Your exp gets capped at gaining exp as if the zone was 10 levels higher than you. This is not a multiplayer party thing it's just how the system works.
so if you take a level 10 friend to a level 90 zone, they'll only get exp as if they're level 20...which is still better than they would normally get, but not the full amount

oh okay cool, 3 is max, 2.3 second cd, in theory if your bear is swiping off cooldown, you can keep up 3 because with maxed out panther duration they last 7 seconds. But 2 is probably the most expected result.

hey mike weird question, is suckerpunch arrow in the detonating arrow tree supposed to work with jelkhor's melee det arrow hits? i cant tell if it is working and it is so inconsistent it almost seems like a bug
Not Mike, nor a Dev, but I would expect it to - Jelkhor's only converts the arrow into a melee swing, the explosions work the same way.
The Damage of the Suckerpunch Explosion is based off the initial attachment, however - so that might be part of the difficulty in testing.
well its really weird. if i have a single large enemy like a boss or smth, i never see any increased explosion damage or area. but hitting an enemy twice in a group is an obvious increase in both damage and area
like its so obvious that i feel like something is actually wrong

Not Mike, but many hours of game-time: not accurately. The current Character Sheet doesn't take into account dynamic or skill-specific effects when showing you stats like Critical Strike Chance. (Though you can search the forums for Character sheet Improvements and help promote the ones you like the best)
You can calculate it yourself easily though, base crit * (1 + increased) + any crit vulnerability.

On Prismatic Gaze, it specifies "mana cost does not include mana consumption effects". Does this mean skills that cast other skills when you use them? For example, if Surge uses Lightning Blast, is the Lightning Blast mana cost part of the cost or is that a consumption effect?

I think that's a mana cost because it's for a specializable skill but I'm not sure it triggers because you didn't cast it yourself. I'm not sure how Prismatic Gaze is worded.

I'm running a cold base Druid using the Gathering Storm node in Maelstrom and Rotten Core in Thorn Totems. It's been my experience so far that the explosion from Rotten Core NEVER triggers Gathering Storm in Maelstrom. If I do an entire mono solely killing with the Rotten Core explosion, I will not see a single stack of Maelstrom. Is that node supposed to be my kills only, and not minion kills, or is this unintended behavior?

unless it says that it will change in the alt tooltip, the nodes do what they say. I'm not sure what those nodes do off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do what you want it to from that.

Sceptres can roll minion spell damage, or physical damage, wands can't roll any minion modifiers at all??? I don't know. That's such a hard question for me. I think it's A Link to the Past as that was the first one I beat on my own as a kid. OOT will always hold a very special place in my heart and I just recently replayed it with my wife and I've just started a randomizer for it. MM I think is the most interesting one. BotW is a straight masterpiece. I could go on about how much I love several others too but those are my top 4.

They are wrote in a similar fashion as Patient Doom (Every 3 seconds your next attack...) but the buff doesn't appear till after I attack. Also does Void Echo proc use the Eternal Eclipse Buff? I ask this question because it says "Your attacks"
sounds like it's just displaying differently. the effects are the same condition. it does not work with the echo, only your direct attacks.
To clarify the buff is NOT there until I attack it doesn't seem to be a display issue

If the cooldown of a melee skill such as maul had it's cooldown reduced enough, would it begin to be limited by the attack speed of the equipped weapon?

if the cooldown could be reduced far enough, yes but because we use ICDRS and not standard CDR, you get diminishing returns and you'll technically never be able to completely remove the cooldown.
If i want to play with a friend and let's say he is lvl 40 and I'm lvl 90. Does the reduced XP from enemies cap at 0 level difference or would he get XP as the zone level would be 40 level below him?

if you are overleveled, you get normal xp for that zone, if you are severely overleveled, this xp will be insignificant.
if you are underleveled by more than 10 levels, you get xp as though the zone was 10 levels above you

why there is no warning\information when crafting a legendary item that this process will change minimal required level to equip it? like crafting legendary from items with 1 or 6 level required. Got extremely frustrated today after spending quite some time to prepare item for leveling alt character, only to waste two good items, because it only made sense to use that legendary on low level for speed and QoL?

Is there like a damage cap on bosses? I feel like boss takes same damage no matter how much hp i put on it
well hp doesn't reduce the damage you do
they have adaptive DR that does adjust the damage they take as the fight goes on. The more damage you do, the faster the boss will die.
Oh so there is something making it closer than on rare mobs. Is there a formula?
why not give players ability to choose servers manually when needed, like in many (most) games? there are many scenarios where auto assignment based on player location is doing really bad job. also sometimes ISP swap backbone routes for planned work or disaster recovery. Also adding load indicator to servers would help to choose optimal ping\server load ration

Hi Mike. Is it possible to change the jelkhors -mana cost affix to a total number rather than a hidden 3,5 that i assume.
I have 2 jelkhors with 4 mana roll, but one brings me down to 1 mana cost for DA and the other to 0 when dual wielding.
ok maybe it's better with another example: I'm lvl40 in a lvl60 zone so i get XP as the monsters were 10 level above me. Now another player joins my zone, he is lvl70. now the threshold for gaining XP is reduced by the level disparity between me and him, that's 30 level. So if he joins my zone, i would get XP as the zone was 20 level below me?

hello, is it intended that when void cleave echoes with the gravity's edge node, the echo does not use the max distance? for example if I am across the screen from an enemy and hit them with the end of void cleave, the echo casts it where I started and totally misses the enemy. hope that makes sense

once you complete the last 3, empowered unlock and that is a level 100 version of all of them

Question, I'm noticing that gear or talents that increase melee void damage are currently not working for echo knight warpath, is this a bug or intended? I've tried on various pieces of gear that say 'added melee void damage' and also tried speccing into this in different ways like 'finality' on bottom of void knight tree. They are not currently increasing the damage done by warpath that has the tags 'melee' and 'void' in it

You have to relearn the skillpoints by killing enemies / gaining exp
But yes. DoTs bypass armor. Armor protects against hits, not just physical. Physical resist protects against all kinds of physical damage.
A question about kill thresholds: let's say a skill has a 25% kill threshold. If that skill damages an enemy from 30% to 20% life, would I have to hit it again to proc the threshold?
If avalanche is converted to a targetable and no longer channeling spell, it doesn't behave like the rest of the spells, meaning you can't have multiple instances of it at once, the new one cancels the old one, is this intended 🤔 ?

I know of LEtools but if i'm not mistaken, that is done by reading game files

Hello, you're doing great with the updates to improve the game and fixing bugs. But I was wondering if you were aware of the long loading times between zones when playing in multiplayer. When one of us clicks on the next zone, it takes 15seconds to 30seconds before the loading screen appears.

It's a little unclear to me how exactly the scaling works on a totem casting upheaval for me. Will the totem's upheaval scale with my strength or attunement like upheaval does anymore? Also, regarding other talents in the tree that care if you have a 2h equipped, will those still function properly and check your equipped weapon? I think I already discovered that it uses whatever +minion base damage I can give it and it doesn't seem to scale off my weapon anymore.
strength and attunement still work as it gets converted to minion stats in totem mode.
it does switch to using minion and totem stats so you personal added melee damage doesn't apply any more
One thing I am still a bit unclear on with how minions scale damage.
Say I have a minion that does melee fire damage.
And I scale fire damager and melee damage on my character. Will this impact the minion dmg at all? Or does it only scale of minion melee damage for example?

Currently when I spec into it or not it doesn't change my dodge chance to 0% or move my glancing blow chance. It might be bugged or I don't understand how it works. I know this isn't the bug place but I want to be sure before I make a report if that is the case.

there is a list of bases that they can have. doesn't matter when the items are generated, it comes from that list
The biggest (and most obvious) is Chrono Trigger as a non-arpg influence. It's hard to point at one thing because little things leak in all the time from all sorts of games.
Like, dungeons for example, you get a special power in the dungeon, use it to solve puzzles throughout the dungeon and then it's the key to defeating the boss. Does that sound like any extremely famous game series to you?
Are the temporary global damage buffs snapshotted for the channeling skills? If I get 5 stacks from rip blood and start channeling life drain after - will my damage calculated based on the initial dmg bonus or only on current dmg, when bonus from rip blood wears out?
in most cases this should work. there are some where it doesn't, for example warpath doesn't work this way. rip blood and drain life should work
Is it the same for the disintegration for mage then? If any temporary dmg bonuses applies in the beginning of channeling - they will be used all the time while I channel?

Yeah it doesn't work. No matter how much flat dodge rate or % dodge rate i put, the endurance threshold doesn't move. It only moves up or down when i have more or less HP. Overall the boots option doesn't work with dodge.
Question, I never managed to find it in the in-game guide. How exactly does dual wielding work in the nitty gritty details? Is your second weapon essentially just a stack stick? Or do attack skills hit twice as often as with 1 weapon? Is the attack speed averaged?
both weapons are stat sticks, weapon speeds are really just a more/less attack speed modifier in disguise, all the stats from both are applied
So if you have 2 slow weapons you attack slower than with 1 slow weapon?

@placid plinthCan you please check whenever you have time if this option works with dodge. I tested it with flat dodge increase and % dodge rate increate and it doesn't convert the dodge to threshold. It's like the option itself doesn't react with anything other then the HP on my character.
if you really want to, sure, try to isolate variables, so get to a consistent repro state and start changing 1 thing at a time until something changes then go back to the start and change that 1 thing and see if it is just that or a combination of things. (you really don't have to do this)

Question about Frost Shots from the Hail of Arrows tree: does the freeze rate multiplier stack per second (so +120% the first second, +240% the second, etc)? It's described differently than Nowhere to Hide's increasing damage.

Serious question this time. Forge Strike has 25% chance to summon a Forged Weapon on hit. Is there any way to increase the chance to summon a forged weapon? So far, I have mixed feelings. It clears well in lvl 90 monos, but i feel like i need to hit multiple packs to get up to my maximum forged weapons (12)

when you summon the minion, the scaling tags are applied and the minion gets those stats, then the minion casts the abilities and applies its stats to those abilities. Because it has gained stats from attunement, it has those stats to use on any ability it creates

because it can't know that the minion is going to be summoned with attunement
and attunement doesn't actually (directly) affect that spell at all

Some how the other day I got my game swapped to my secondary monitor. Now the game launches like that, once I use the Windows key hotkey it moves it but the resolution is stuck in low. Shutting down and relaunching, it still launches on secondary. Would re-installing the game fix this or is there something I can do with a config file or something?

@broken stag I would imagine since this is beta, and first time releasing multiplayer interaction bugs will be present and networking bugs are hard to triage sometimes given certain code branches are only reached under one of code flow execution. I would just hold off asking until they have time to analyze the issues to triage and locate then try and implement solutions.

They appear to utilize BeardedManStudio's for lots of multiplayer interactions via their sync* operations between all the different local/actor/ and some of the code may only be server side so they have to first location is it client side or server side bugs in the handling of the mutiplayer interactions.

Hello, I'm playing Sentinel.
But there is certain idol affixes combination that seem to not drop for me.
For example Large/Adorned idols, can roll prefix "smite, increase damage/chance cast on throw", and "health/block effect" as suffix.
My question, is it possible for both of these affixes to drop in the same combination.
I've +120h since 0.9 launch, and I've not found a single idol with prefix "smite" and suffix "health/block".
Can this combination still drop, do I need to do 300-400 corruption to start seeing it to drop? or was that combination of affixes to strong and needed to be removed?

If i may add my two cents onto this thought, my wife and I were playing the other night and attempted to trade 1 shard, but they are un tradeable? If they are supposed to be more like items then auto pick-up currency, shouldn't they be tradeable or filterable like items? Or at least mentioned before hand what is or isint instead of having to try and figure it out ones self, like almost all minion stats

Bit of a fuck around .. but you can use shard on item .. transfer item and then other player can rune of removal to guarantee all 5 shards . It's the only easy way of trading rare shards

Hey Devs! Forge Guard question. When you summon a weapon and it says "affected by the stats and attack rate of your weapon" does this only apply to numbers but legendary effects as well. For instance, the 1H Axe "Undisputed", does the summoned forge weapon also deal 5% increased pysical damage for each recent melee hit against a bleeding enemy."

Does minion spell damage affect totem's damage?
@distant radish check the spell tag on the totem, if it has spell under the minion section, then yes
Aaron's will. You use twin souls, it will turn your extra golems small and use the smaller damage, but will not give you the extra golems you should get for them being at that size. You have +2 golems from 8+ skeletons and have the armor on it will give you 4 golems at small size doing less damage, rather than 6 or 2 small and 2 large. This intended or a bug?

There is no smart loot when it comes to uniques at all
Seeing this wasn't intended, it was reported 4 months ago, and it still doesn't have the movement tag. I'm no expert coder, but just adding a tag sounds it should be as easy as it gets. Maybe it was forgotten? Bumping this up anyways

would it be possible to get a psa or something about dungeons not working sometimes, so people know its a risk of a key? Seeing a lot of new people now trying to try out dungeons, and then losing their key because of the bug and not knowing what happened

smite is a spell, only melee or throwing attacks can be echoed
also only the things you use are echoed

Is there a bug or a known mechanic that removes the healing from consecrated ground via Judgement? I had it healing a lot before and now it isnt healing noticeably at all, i have 400+ healing effectiveness and it says the spell is 50 health per second base

is it intended that only the player who starts the boss quest in monoliths gets the gaze of orobyss? All players in the party still get blessing rewards and lose stability from the fight so it seems a bit inconsistent

There was talk before of a crit overhaul before but that never materialized.
Right now crit itemization completely dominates character building. Are they any plans to make flat crit chance accessible on more pieces of gear? The crit offhand/prismatic gaze stifle build options for spell casting builds to a large degree.
I introduced 3 friends to LE with the MP patch and even they noticed it, and they've played the game for some 30-ish hours.
