1. lines should be straight without sudden 1 or 3 pixel parts
2. bottom/upper 90deg angle has 4 pixels where lines meet, at left/right it will have just 2 as I have shown
3. look after line/side connections
4. avoid outlines
5. look after the scale of your objects
6. add details and texture - dirt, noise, and more things to make structure more interesting
7. of course never forget shadows on ground and shading/lighting
8. when you're starting, avoid skew angles/round shapes, they can be tricky even to experienced people
