id like some opinions on an issue; im having this argument with my mods on discord for a server. its a 500 people server with an open link so anyone can join and theyre saying and arguing that if we dont kick any "bots" that join (they dont know andi dont know if theyre bots, since their only detection method is they joined and sent 0 messages) that we are knowingly harming users and its a security concern for the server. but people when they first join have no power or privilges and we have given them basic privileges like texting and whatnot. here are their arguments:

1. having bots is bad cuz they could phish people and send links
2. its a security concern (doesnt go on details as to how)
3. the bots are made or profit and can and will steal info
4. harboring these bots is breaking tos and can get me and server banned

my arguments are:

1. this is kinda really stupid
2. we dont know theyre bots, our method to "detect" them is flawed
3. they cant do shit, they arent a concern
4. this is a non issue and our efforts can be used elsewhere
5. its a heavy misinterpretation of TOS, so idk how this applies since idk theyre bots
6. im not using the bots? and what harm will it actually do for inactive accounts or "bots" to be in a server?
