If the server gets the info the high ping player shot, but the server during validation sees they were already confirmed dead at that time, the shot should be invalidated
what confuses this even more is that hunt is projectile based - not hitreg
Like, theoretically both could shoot at the same time and kill eachother, like if both has 0ms ping, but it happens way too often for this to not be because of ping
so a bullet can persis and keep traveling it's direction as long as the shooter was alive during the creation of the bullet, and it will still be lethal if it arrives even if the shooter died while the bullet was traveling
Well a lot of people also underestimate how slow bullets are in Hunt
at just 10m a Winnie bullet with 400 m/s takes 25ms from start to hit
10m is exceedingly short
best seen during the event - try searching for sneks with the base 10m radius
Couldn't they delete the projectile that someone shot if they died right after but had a ping? Like i cant do the maths to give u an example but i hope u know what i mean

No it wasn't removed - lemme explain in more detail
before the trades change what happened was two players shoot at each other - Both are alive at the time the projectiles are created. one dies while his bullet is still in the air. The server invalidates this bullet that was created before they died. hence no trade happens
after the changes Both shoot at the same time, and both are alive when the bullet is created. First one kills the other guy, but that guys bullet is still flying in the air, striking the first shooter lethally - so a trade happens
Now an in validation is supposed to happen if a player shoots another - the server says yes the guy you shot died. after the server agreed the guy is dead, the now dead guy sends the info, i shot the guy that shot me on my client. The server then invalidats the high ping guys shot because his projectile was created after the server already deemed them dead
the important distinction to be made is was the projectile created before the guy died or not - not if the projectile lands while they're dead or not
In theory that sounds like trades should be a rare thing and not an issue
but it can't be because something is definetly not right with the amount of trades there are in the game
Does the server check whether the person was dead for the server or for the player?
That's a gut feeling and not my call to make. To me it makes sense that there's a long trade window with weapons with that low velocity

I can only explain the info the devs put out in their blogs and explanation videos
Like for example If you shoot a guy at 10m with a shotgun - it takes 25ms for the bullet s to hit the other guy - if the other guy shoots within the first 24ms, his bullets also take 25 ms to hit you - adding up to an absolutely natural, trade window of 49 ms max - completely ignoring ping or system delay
but 49 is incredibly short, even if it sounds like a lot. Like, many people play on a ping between 30 and 60
make that 2 winnies at 50m and we're at a natural 124 ms for the traveltime on the first guy + 125 ms on the second guy for a total of a totally legit 249ms trade window
long range trades aren't an issue for anyone though? Like they don't feel unfair at all atleast not to me
because most longrange shots don't end it trades
in CQC far more guns are capable of OHK's, and far more OHK's happen because it's easier to hit a big target
Again i can't say it's working as intended - nor can i confidently say it doesn't - i can just explain the infos the devs put out there and can do some math to show the numbers
I mean, the system sounds alright, perhaps gameplay wise everything is actually as it should be and trades just feel unfair

yep! its just i thought it could be a cool bonus if once you kill him, all the grunts stays but they ont attack you anymore and you can roam the map for 5 minutes without getting attacked or aggroing grunts

@inland yoke I think new bosses should not be harder and more interesting mechanisms sound harder. (if new Mechanisms are just interesting I would be fine)
Usually I avoid doing the assassin because he takes more time (except with poison crossbow) and cannot be rushed not even with sticky. And getting attacked while doing the boss sucks.
Bosses being avoided should not be the case since it's what brings teams together for PvP.

The assassin is kind of the easiest boss in the game ngl
Thing is, last boss, Scrapbeak, already involves more risk than the 3 others, and Can really Fuck you UP, so i think that making a even more tense boss is not a Bad idea
@worthy knoll Interesting mechanics CAN be harder to deal with, but don't have to be. I personally don't think any boss is "hard" unless you are fully new to the game. The assassin can be annoying but isn't really hard at all just like all the others.
Then again the spider running 37 times around the boss lair before you can hit her once is also annoying lol

Butcher is the quickest to kill but if you take a hit you are in a lot of danger

It's probably a timing issue, you can't stagger him past a certain point of the attack animation

@worthy knoll If you want a tip with the assassin: Don't run after him, he will always try to attack you in the back, so just stand still, he'll go out of bug form
Fire (mainly lanterns) are also really good against him as they insta-kill his clones
for the clone, getting one on you and avoiding the assassin attack (by running) will end the Enrage phase it seems
I dont need a tip. I CAN deal with him. It just takes more time when i have a normal loadout without poison stuff

Me and my friends really dislike boss layer campers and came up with an idea that we think might fix that. Reducing the timer to 30min but instead of instantly dying after the timer runs out, from the location of the bosses or the boss corpses a fog spreads that deals damage over time that would force players to move and play a less campy way, which in my opinion would make the pvp experience less frustrating

Idea: Unannounced boss coming into long standing events
My idea is around is when there is a new boss being announced or coming into the game, instead of announcing it fully could it be released slowly over a long standing event similar to the current event?
The idea is that there is hints as you play throughout the event that a new presence has come to the bayou, with certain items etc being around the map or whatever you would decide.
Then when you get to the point in the event marked via collective points or whatever gauge deemed necessary, the boss logo will appear with a question mark, and we have to do certain things on the map to get the boss to spawn (Something other than clue collection for example)
We then find a brand new boss with new mechanics and no idea how to fight it along with having to fight other hunters in the process.
I feel this idea would be beneficial for player retention throughout long standing events.```
@pallid idol I’m not sure a damage reduction is necessary for sparks pistol. while it is true that sawn off rifles do less damage they also maintain rifle dropoff while sparks pistol does not
Well that would be for consistency - they said they reduced the dmg because of the shorter barrel
they didn't say because of the dropoff
And the sparks pistol has an even shorter barrel yet no dmg reduction. Just goes against the consistency
besides the sawn off rifles wouldn't have needed a nerf either even tho they retain rifle dropoff

We need new contract bosses already. Tired of killing the same few. Skins, new guns and map tweaks are great in all. But new BIGGER harder to kill bosses would amp this up. Like no boss should be killable in two moves. Most games I play now the contract target is ignored and its just solely a PVP. That's how stagnant they have become. well in Crytek's eyes, its intended, lmao "I have checked with design and this is the correct rate of fire for the centennial in hipfire." Seems like they still got someone over there who hates the cent
also on top of that the winnie 73, without iron repeater, is bugged so that you can fire earlier than the cycling animation should allow, which means you don't really need iron repeater currently (although the animation will not have the ironsight visible for you if you fire it early)

It was bad from the start. The only medium rifle that cannot kill a downed hunter, the RoF was bad and it's price was way to high at start.

as for the cent its a head clicker and its rof mv lets it do that much better than the vett, giving it damage too would be out doing the vett on almost everything
now the cent is the better marksmen rifle that rewards skill and the vett is better all rounder close to mid range rifle.

honestly, it is a 12% difference in muzzle velocity, which is somewhat significant.
(compared to 400, which I'm using as base)
if you compare it to the actual velocity of 410 it's a 15% difference.

@quaint silo Taking double mines is already a huge investment, not really money wise as balancing around it is not good, but because you take up 2 tool slots meaning that, if you take a melee and a medkit, have no tools like choke bombs, decoy fuses etc. It's also not too hard to see / disarm them

well there were enough players to sell to south africa. Its not a good enough answer. the game solely relies on official servers we cannot host our own. They are clearly making enough to afford it. They don't get to take our money and say its not worth the investment to actually give us adequate gameplay. even the ping restrictions can restrict us from playing entirely. So who do we speak to to make them reconsider because that is BS.
The game is being sold pretty much worldwide. If having dedicated servers in South Africa (or Africa in general) were worth it, I'm sure they'd do it. And maybe it will be worth doing so at some point in the future if the African player base grows strong enough.
But for now, it not being worth it is the latest statement the devs ever released.
I don't want to know "what you are sure of" I want to speak to someone that ACTUALLY knows because as I said we paid for the game and we are at times especially recently restricted from even playing the game and the rest of the time the game is unplayable. And no is NOT an answer, a solution IS an answer.

Hi are EU servers having issues as of lately ? i started playing this game some weeks ago with some friends and we were having a blast ! , but lately the server is just shitting the bed and its not ping issues its just like the whole game is running laggy, even the zombie animations are weird , shots miss when they are supposed to hit . Its like its a different game altogether now , both me and my friend having more than decent pcs and the game goes from 120fps to 40 for like a second and then goes back to full speed , is this a known issue with EU servers ? do we have any word on these from crytek ? thank you
So what about the Avtomat, Chain Pistol, the reload animation for the lemat, and some guns like the Nagant Pistol weren't even available during the time Hunt takes place in (1895). Other guns like the Bergmann (Bornheim) makes absolutely no sense anywhere in the world since it was only a prototype. The C96 (Dolch) is also pretty dumb because it wouldn’t have been common in the US until they were brought back by returning soldiers after WWI. Also the C96 was almost immediately replaced by the P08 Luger anyways because it was the much better design.
My point is they have allowed guns in the game that doesn't even make sense mechanically like the avto, I think they can figure out a way to modify the Pax to hold a silencer.
I was just saying that they probably won't put it in because of that reason.
Avto is based on the Huats Ross rifle.
Chain pistol design existed, though it didn't function.
LeMat obviously had to be converted to cartridges for gameplay reasons.

I'm sure this has been said before but I think the specter should have a rework. Considering the length I think it should have the same range as a Romero, which in my opinion should be pushed farther, maybe just 5m. I say this because the barrel of the specter is considerably longer than all other "medium" shotguns like the slate, terminus, or even the specter bayonet. especially with the addition of the new Romero Alamo, I don't think this would break much in gameplay, just make it so the specter is used more, and give more consistency to shotguns overall.```

Its only the specter bayonet which is considered medium barrel alongside the rival, terminus and slate

but I was also speaking specifically for the base buckshot. If it is considered a long barrel shotgun then why is the range 12m vs the Romero's 15m. This isn't to crazy of an increase in range but especially with the addition of the new alamo, I dont think it would break gameplay hardly at all

I do understand where youre coming from but I feel like the specter is one of the more underused shotguns. At least for my personal preference I will always either go cheap with a Romero or straight to a slate
Tbh i wouldn't take the buckshot stats tooo seriously - because unlike for bullets or slugs, the stats for buckshot are just averages that try to account for spread RNG
what we can say is that the specter has the second best spread after the Romero - which to reiterate, i think is fine and intended behaviour.
Hunt usually tries to not just create a better version of another gun, so even lower tier weapons usually try to keep a smol element that should make em worth playing over higher tier ones. The Romero's smol element is that it has the most potent shotgun shellout there, but it shoots extremely slow in return.
Even the alamo is shooting very very slow at only 22 RPM compared to ~40RPM for all other slow repeating shotguns and almost 60 RPM for the slate
And i think that is that main issue of the specter - the terminus encoached in specter territorry and shoehorning in the slate, which ended up with a minor range reduction but a massive 50% more RoF is what nearly killed the specter
ill agree with you on that. Just trying to find a way to make the specter feel more enjoyable to play
. After playing with the Alamo for a bit it still feels similar in ROF to the specter imo, plus the added damage, feels like it now far outperforms the specter unless using iron devastator, but again that is using buckshot, don't honestly use slugs all that often.
The Alamo is a fair bit slower than the specter - but i think the issue is that they both play the same and compete for the same niche.
At only 40 Rpm the specter isn't fast enough to just 2 tap people in one go / push - if they fight back, because all pistols can achieve bodyshot kills in the time it takes the specter to kill with 2 shots. (the Uppercut, which is tied for slowest Rof with the nagant still fires at 40 RPM - so it can 2 tap a specter in the same time a specter 2 taps the Uppercut user, ofc assuming no fanning for the uppercut... and the Bornheim at over 200 RPM gets 3 or even 4 bodyshots out faster than the specter a followup) This means the specter essentially needs to shoot then go for cover, rinse and repeat. The alamo does the same, just more pronounced, even slower RoF but even better range
so while you'll propably loose a few engagements because of the slower RoF on the Alamo, it's overall better adapted / specialized for it's "playstyle" of having to peek out of cover to shoot and then retreat again because of lackluster RoF

Which is stupid since you wouldn't need to shorten the barrel to fix s Bajonett...and considering "balance" I don't think the Mosin Bajonett or Vetterli Bajonett loose something significant like 3m range and spread on a shotgun ...
They get more sway which is more impactful on them than it would be on shotguns
Sway isn't really a stat to balance guns around imo as it is "countered" by skill. Uppercut and Sparks pistol for example have really high sway but if you know what you're doing then you don't really care about it.
@wanton dove I believe giving legendary hunters trait points would be p2w as other Tier 2/ Tier 3 hunters also only get traits and not trait points.
I would however support the idea if they changed it up a little, maybe if you can see which traits you're gonna get similair to the other recruits. These traits could change after every game, similar to how you can reroll new hunters after every game.
Yeah, and it wouldn't be fair in any way either. 8 points only afford you Doctor, some legendaries or tier 3 could Come with Doctor/Lightfoot/Pitcher, so legendaries would still be a trade off anyway
So i don't think giving them point is a good idea anyway

@wanton dove while your suggestion makes sense from a quality of life point of view, but i think random traits force people to differentiate their loadouts and gameplay to some degree, which is good

Then it might be an option to take some trait combinations out of the possibilities. It does not make sense to get a trait for better aim with deadeye variants AND marksman scope.

like sparks and martini are top of the line single shots, and mosin, Lebel and Berthier are top tier repeaters, and we've yet to gain top tier weapons (including price, unlock and a fitting performance) for medium and compact ammo
At best you need a special ammo to mimick a fraction of their power
It's not quite as bad for pistols, where there at least was an attempt with the Broheim and the Dolch - but as far as rifles go it's very very obvious

specter isn't terrible tbh. only long barrel shotgun that has flechette so the 2 tap range is pretty good. and good to use with sparks pistol to just poke someone like 30m away and kill them lol. also alamo is probably never going to be used after this event tbh lol. it needs a rework on the animation cancelling shit. like have a checkpoint for cocking like the crossbow should have when reloading.

Afaik there is only like 3 sway profiles - one for pistols, one for rifles and one for shortened rifles. Then there's some attachments that slightly alter the behaviour, like bajonets increasing sway a little or stocks reducing it a little
But the uppercut, should sway the exact same as any other pistol without a sway altering attachment
I just know the handling stat is worse than on other guns. Also, the scottfield has little to no sway in comparison to other pistols and has a high handling stat so i assume the sway is based on it

Sway does factor into the handling stat, but it's not all that's factored in
The description of the handling stat :
"An abstract rating of effectiveness taking the following into account: weapon sway, recoil, and bullet spread. For melee weapons, this takes into account stamina consumption, reach, and angle of the swing arc instead. The higher the percentage, the better the weapon handles."
This means 2 weapons with the same sway can have wildly differing handling stats because they have more recoil for example, or bullet spread on shotguns
however the change in handling from say a mosin bayonet to regular mosin comes from the added sway of having a bayonet
In short handling is a weird franken-stat that cannot be trusted
no stat in the store can be trusted lol
I can only say from experience that scottfield has much less sway and uppercut has more sway than most pistols. Also the chain pistol has more than the base conversion. Atleast thats how i feel

I disagree. The old chaos bomb was kind of... kind of effective because the dolch and other weapons it sounded like used to be pretty meta.
They could add the trapdoor, Schofield, and other new sounds to it and it still wouldn't fool anyone because pretty much no new gun (sans a stark few examples) are even close to approaching a meta pick rate.
I certainly wouldn't believe two trapdoors were picked in my lobby. Because people meta slave so hard to like the same five guns, I wouldn't believe a chaos bomb if it didn't play any of those.

The way I describe the alamo's animations is that they literally lie to the player. The gun visually say's "hey, I'm ready to fire or put away safely" but in actuality the gun is still doing it's thing. I don't think that's how that works. Conversion pistol definitely has way less sway than an uppercut.
also yea chain pistol adds sway over the base conversion but not much (it is noticeable however)
compared uppercut and base conversion looks basically the same to me

@feral timber so, I appreciate what you’re trying to say, but part of the issue is you have a lot of suggestions in your post and its really hard to vote when I disagree with some of the stuff you’re saying and agree with others.
I'm going to kind of add on to the message above because I don't want to ping them again, I feel like it would take away from the fact we are fighting things from another world. It's supposed to be ominous and mysterious. It's a cool idea but I feel like it would fit in more if we were fighting humans and just humans because all the stuff around the compound lead me to think the boss lives there and doesn't leave

I also know where you're coming from, but at the same time I feel like the gamification of the bosses makes them feel less ominous, like "collect 3 things, know exactly where they are", also knowing exactly which boss it is at the start of the game. And like I said in the post, it's too also help mitigate those games where some players encounter no one because people only prioritise the side of the map they spawn on
Yea single bounties are fun when people actually play the game, but all of them now are one team in a building with traps and shotguns and everyone else is sitting outside with a rifle sneaking around waiting for one team to move in to kill them. I will say single maps are far far worse in duos and aren't that bad in trios
that's just the game in general for me lately lol. The game has too many easy weapons that reward the guy that doesn't make any noise. I feel like player footsteps are actually too loud if the enemy isn't moving. I think there needs to be ambient breathing noise when you start sitting there
That and crouching is really quite letting people just sneak so easy in certain buildings
I don't even really have a problem with people using crouch to move and fight. More than when you push a compound you have to sprint around otherwise you risk getting domed by all the teams outside with rifles. This means the inside team just looks at all the entrances after trapping them up and waiting to wallbang you or easy mode shotgun, avto or fanning as you come through a door. Really hard to see dark legendary hunters in the buildings.
I don’t understand the suggestion about boss hunting. Yes, the clues could be more thematic and diagetic, but I’m not sure what the “chance to be the other boss” does or is for.
I’m not sure how this incentivizes map exploration either, and part of the point of the map graying is to entice hunters together, so making people go around and explore would be counter to that purpose anyway.
Mobs already don’t respawn, but i can agree with crows not coming back. Mob corpses despawning is probably a performance thing but you can notice a lack of AI. I don’t agree with reducing mob spawns overall.
Hunting players through the environment is somewhat interesting, but there would also need to be ways to cover your tracks as well.
@covert barn The games I've played with karma/rating systems are arguably some of the most toxic games I've ever played, and the karma systems get abused by bad actors more often than they get used for good. A simple commend system would work better but can still cause people to boot randoms just for not having enough commends, inevitably leading to more toxicity

I think the biggest problem for me is that the defender has all the power usually. They're trapped up with shotguns, with darksight so they know exactly where people are and if they can just run out of the back door. They can sit in a corner freely and just listen for anyone trying to get in.
I also think Darksight is a tad too accurate sometimes. You can pin point someone's exact location down to the Bush they're in. I'd welcome a change that makes it so darksight just shows a general direction someone is in. That way you know someone is there, but it still opens up opportunities for people to ambush etc.
Well, Darksight is limited tho

@queen jungle tournament have been discussed here a number of time and there's kind of a consensus to say that it would just be a waste of time and money in a game where PVP is optionnal and in a pretty niche game
I mention that the map should still gray out, but when your dark sight to look for your next clue, that's all you've got, instead of having the map split in half, the only way to know you're going to get the next clue is to physically go to the next clue

Not gonna call out any names, but why are there 26 weapon suggestions every day that would add nothing to the game gameplay wise. Like yeah, some of these suggestions would be cool, but those would be a lot of cryteks resources for something that doesn't add anything gameplay wise.

@vast hare 12 players is already 20% more than what the game and the maps were made for. 24 players would totally screw the balance.
In addition, PvP encounters in Hunt are supposed to be somewhat rare but all the more tense. It is not designed to offer constant PvP fights like some 100 players+ BRs do.

You see, that would a a suggestion that changes something gameplay wise. A Pump action rifle. It would be something new. But like if someone suggest another medium ammo lever action rifle, or another long ammo bolt action rifle like what is the point of those guns.
There's a lot of people who want the krag constantly and it'd just be another long ammo competitior
Even the berthier has somewhat of a reason to exist as it has a special way it reloads and it also gives us the option of having a Mosin/Lebel deadeye.

Exploiters on the other hand are common when there is one to use, like the ladder glitch that let peoples cams be in front of their model

@vast hare Why would there be a 1915 automatic machinegun in a game set in 1895? Avto is an exception bc it's a weird contraption not an actual gun.
I got accused of cheating when I was shooting a guy through a fence (who kept peeking the same spot, and I could see him through the fence) with my winfield/chain piston w/FMJ. "You cheatin bro? All you doing is wallbang, not sus at all."
Meanwhile he managed to get a HS with poison crossbow from outside the south entrance (I think it was around 40m) to Golden acres when I was in the stairwell just below the window facing his direction. I just chalked it up to luck, assuming he was trying to keep me from peeking and I just got unlucky.
I've gotten my fair share of rng kills. Levering at extract, through bushes, 60-70m out, just in the general direction I thought they'd be--hs on the 3rd hip fire. Gotten some other gnarly levering kills from a distance and I always feel blessed.
the problem with dark sight is it's another reason long ammo is meta + makes scopes even stronger. People know and can sit outside dark sight range while tracking you. It makes it so the only good way to fight the bounty carrier is with long ammo.
One team wipe yesterday and my duo's MMR shoots up to no-lifer matches. Been dying all day and no change. So annoying.
I don't see any problems, it's not a simulator or somethings imitating real life

They want to keep the guns relevant thematically. And the Chauchat doesn’t fit that.
- It’s a full auto gun. Would be straight up overpowered considering it fires the same round as the Lebel.
- Magazine fed. We don’t have a single magazine fed gun in the game (en-bloc doesn’t count) and would be too difficult to balance properly
- It’s a 1915 mass production Machine gun. It straight up didn’t exist. You can make arguments for all the guns in this game in some capacity. Not for the Chauchat
I'm sure some certain regions suffer from cheating (I heard it's bad on Asian and Russian servers) but as a NA player it's not a common thing

Bosses (and PvE in general) used to be significantly stronger, but it lead to people camping outside he boss lair waiting for somebody else to engage the boss and put themselves at a significant disadvantage.

Happens. Buddy and I began the day as 5-star playing against 4-5s and the occasional 3 and 5, had a nice day with 9 extracts and a healthy amount of kills/team wipes. The next day it was 5's and 6's, 1-3 mil total bounty, match after match (we are 280k and 340k total bounty). Lost probably 10 hunters, many in the first 5-10 minutes of the match. Got out with one bounty that day, only because we rolled up after everyone except one other player was dead. Never went down from 5 star status though. Next day, we got back on the horse and there were still 5s and 6s, but it was like polar opposite form the day before and we had a good day. Guess its the Hunt giveth and taketh mantra at work.

but it still fires a full powered rifle cartrige
And unlike that thing jams as frequently as it does IRL - ain't no good way to balance it while making it feel somewhat fun to play

Pax carbine would be good, medium ammo damage curve with a high fire rate. Lemat carbine would be versatile but ofc slower than officer carbine with a shotgun that's sub par (Just a scaled up lemat in practice). Volcanic would be a pistol that'd benefit from levering.
Medium ammo's damage drop should begin at 30m not 20m
they could make a 6.5x55mm Norwegian Krag in special ammo, which somewhat behaves like spitzer
That way it's a nice 20-30-40 for the respective ammo types
very high velocity, low-ish dmg, but amazing pen. And not needing bullet grubber would make being special ammo not hurt nearly as bad

A krag like that which is tooled for headshots but gets no scope would be nice.
