I saw that some plugins were hacked, including the WebSocket one. My OBS is portable, but I remember copying the WebSocket files from the OBS installation about a year ago. I do keep OBS updated, but I haven’t been updating the plugins, so in theory it shouldn’t be infected. If it were, is there any way to detect it?

Cool. So remove the Source Record filter from your Game Capture source, then make a new scene with a game capture in it. Then add the Source Record Filter to the Scene itself instead. This gets around crashing issues when a game capture source changes size or isn't capturing anything.

Cuz a scene is always the same resolution.

Hey not sure if this is the right channel but i'm making a web overlay for a stream. Now this overlay works perfectly fine in all browsers, however when put into an OBS browser source the WebSocket connection fails, stating: WebSocket connection to 'ws://localhost:3000/api/rrm_v2/panel' failed: HTTP Authentication failed; no valid credentials available . All i get on the server end is the ws Upgrade request being declined due to credentials, but i dont enforce needing any myself so it must be something internal that's being rejected. Anyone had any experience with this or suggestions on what i can do as its the only hurdle i have remaining.

@loud wedge I think there is a small bug with advss, I have a macro setup where there is a condition if scene A "is transitioning" to Program, mute a audio source.

Now when I open OBS and I'm streaming halfway(abt 2hrs in), when I turn on advss, the audio source gets muted. This happens when scene A is still in preview and hasn't transitioned yet. and scene B is active in Program.

A "fix" / "change" on obs side will not magical get the function back on the plugin. The plugin devs have to adjust to the changes. AFAIK a Aitum dev was also involved on the last changes.

Hi! Quick question about the plugin "Multiple RTMP outputs plugin". I have had it setup to multistream YouTube as I've been streaming to Twitch - it's been working flawlessly but I'm looking to see if I can increase the bitrate. I'm pretty sure I can, the only problem is I am currently enrolled in the 2k streaming on Twitch, meaning the "Enhanced Broadcasting" settings need to be enabled in my OBS settings. That's no problem since I'm fine with that same visual quality settings for YouTube.

The issue is that I cannot change the Bitrate for my Twitch stream - it is fully handled by the Enhanced Broadcasting Settings. Twitch allows the stream to give 20 Mbps to Twitch, but when I select "Reuse the streaming encoder as OBS" within the Multiple RTMP outputs plugin it basically defaults to 10Mbps ... and I see no way to increase the bitrate I can send to YouTube. Obv I could not reuse the same encoder as the one being send to Twitch ... but my PC cannot handle the load.

I get the feeling my only options here are don't stream 2k to Twitch to increase my bitrate to YouTube or suck up upgrading the PC to handle a fully separate encode for YouTube.

You can try reducing the number of streams enhanced broadcasting does to help with performance, in Settings > Stream

No, just the number of video tracks. I think Default is 4 or 5? Try restricting it to 3, see what it gives you for resolutions and how it performs

just to clarify you cannot control bitrate with these settings, basically OBS sends out a bit of info to twitch and it responds with the bitrate/encoder selection..... setting max at 20k for example does not mean that the encoder will use 20k or that 20k will be what is reusable by the multi-rtmp plugin.

YT reencodes everything, streams and uploads, so it often looks worse than Twitch unfortunately. Your Twitch streams are not one resolution at 20k, but 20k split between all the sizes.

If you have room for it in your upload speed, you should bump the YT bitrate up

Yeah, right now your upload is not the bottleneck. It will be how well your encoders handle the number of total streams you send at the same time. Each Enhanced Twitch video stream counts as one.

yeah, do check hadowplay first, the big inconvenient of the custom version is that I can't sign it, so the game capture hook isn't recognised by anticheats.
There's likely ways around that (not bypassing the anticheats, just using the vanilla obs one) but it's a bit more work

Did you review the guide on installing plugins? It tells you what to look for. In most cases, you simply have to click the Download button, then choose the installer for your operating system. If you run Windows 11, then it's this one. Download it. Run it (but exit OBS first), then run OBS and the Soundboard plugin should be installed.

Does anyone use the Scene-as-Transition plugin? It's been working for me for a long while now, but since updatihng to 32.1.0, it no longer seems to trigger the filter specified in Filter to Trigger ... if I manually trigger the filter in the scene, that filter still works (it uses move transition plugin magic to cascade through a number of filters) and I could probably work around this by adding the filter chain to...well, every scene I transition into so that the filter just activates upon becoming visible. Less than ideal and lots of duplication there, so I'm hopeful to get this working again.

I did update the plugin and see that the DLLs changed names, but otherwise it seems like the plugin is unchanged? And that unfortunately hasn't fixed this for me.

But you did reinstall the SE plugin. That is in the moment the culprit. Until they update their plugin, you have to stay on the previous obs installation or don't install the plugin.

I've been vibe coding to replace Manycam as an intermediary between my OBS virtual output of my camera, after removing the background & chair with nvidia video effects SDK within OBS, & Snapcam for Desktop (Jaku alternative, a proxy connected fork of snapcam for desktop). Snapcam being legacy software only recognizes hardware devices as valid so the AI & I managed to do all the work necessary to spoof a camera device. Got that running but now I need to hook it up with my OBS source.

AI has driven me to two possible solutions, write a translation layer between the virtual output & my device driver OR, make a plugin that writes the frame data directly to the driver memory buffer. I'm leaning towards the plugin side but my question is this.
Why haven't i been able to find a comparable alternative on the plugins page? It's all NDI this NDI that.

Is this just too 'developer'y to be a published thing?

Hey , so many people helped me to fix my stream , pc overload as you my friend and the stream run perfectly fine and has very good quality without pixelation and my game runs smoothly

But I have 2 more questions if that possible

1.) Is the same to have Base ( Canva ) 2560x1440 - Output ( Canva ) 1280x720 with Base 2k and output 2k but change it on output section with rescale output 720?

2.) Should I try from 2k resolution to 1080p or its not reccomended ?

Because sometimes I want to record also , but I know the record is going to be 720p also ....

These settings here, under OBS - Video, will apply to all outputs: recording, streaming, replay buffer, etc.
If you want to have a resolution for recording, and a downscaled resolution for streaming, you have keep the OBS - Video resolutions at the same resolution. In your case, where the content is 2560x1440 when you capture it, make the base and output resolution that.
Then in Output settings - Advanced mode, downscale the stream resolution only.

anything you do will consume resources. Downscale is often done for necessity: low bitrate cap by Twitch.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter. In your context, do what is best for the resources you have, and use the settings that give you the acceptable outcome.
If you want to record 1440p but only stream 720p (because 720p quality will be better on stream, based on your tests), then follow that logic.

I feel like you missed what I said about downscaling in the Video Settings.
If you downscale there, all outputs will be that output resolution. ALL of them.
If you want full resolution for recording and only 720p for streaming, you can't downscale in Video settings.

hey can anyone help me. recently did a full reset on my PC in order to identify some issues i've been having. i did my best to preserve my profile, scene, and plugins but I seemed to have done something incorrectly. regardless, I dont seem to have a "obs-plugins" folder in the OBS folder. i found it seperately in my programfiles, not attatched to my OBS download at all. i re installed OBS a few times (after un installing) and it still ends up seperated. the downloads for my plugins dont seem to be regestering to OBS either. any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm currently looking for free plugins or scripts that could improve workflows for things like:

• Multi-sport events (scoreboards, timers, lower thirds, match info)
• Professional live production tools (automation, scene management, useful docks, etc.)

OBS is mainly used in a live environment with projectors or LED screens, not really for streaming.

Yes, that's your settings, not the OBS application folder.

No, you do not install plugins to the settings folder.

However, if you backed everything up in that folder, that's your settings which is good, that's the part you want saved. You would need to go through any previous plugins you had installed and just reinstall them.

But that should be fine and after you do a reinstall of all the plugins, you can just copy the backup in to that settings folder (with OBS closed) and you should be good to go.

The problem is that there are two different plugin formats. One goes in to the OBS Studio program directory, the other goes in to ProgramData.

Only the plugin installer itself knows which it is.

most are going to use the OBS Studio directory at this point.

There's only a few that use the newer ProgramData format.

The installer should just default to one of those.

They are usually pretty good about knowing where they need to be installed and picking the right directory, if they are downloaded directly and not through that plugin manager thing.

anything "automated" will need resources. It's up to you to decide if the use of limited resources is worth it. (because no pc has unlimited resources).
Otherwise, the simplest solution is to exercise brain resources and moderate who joins your chat and whose public chats you broadcast. And maybe don't broadcast public chat you can't moderate.

If you mean the webcam video properties or exposure settings, that depends on the webcam. Some come with software for saving settings, but not all. Others may have auto-exposure settings too, but again it depends on the webcam. Usually you only see those features in mirrorless or DSLR cameras.

A filter "can work". There are several available that will affect the relative look of the exposure from the webcam, but nothing that will interpret the current data of the captured image and "auto-coorect" on the fly. That would take a lot of processing power as a mirrorless camera does that all in-camera. If a webcam supports it in-camera or through an app, that may help too.
Like Echo said, fix the setup first.

I am still not sure exactly what you're trying to do. It seems like you're trying to fit a 16:9 game in a different aspect ratio. If you can provide an example or screen shot of what the end result you're trying to do is, or be more specific what exactly is "annoying as hell" because resizing sources is just a click and drag operation. If you want to set an explicit size, you can edit the transform directly by pressing ctrl+e.

Open that Closed_Captions_Plugin folder, you should see obs-plugins

Click on that folder, press ctrl+x to cut

then go back up one folder, where that screenshot is from

press ctrl+v to move the folder.

It will ask you if you want to merge the folders, say yes.

Make sure that OBS itself is closed before you do this.

If you followed those directions explicitly, then I am not sure where things went wrong.

You would need to provide a screenshot of obs-plugins/64bit/ folder, that shows the plugins starting with O

If you don't see obs_google_caption_plugin.dll in that folder, then copy it directly from the zip file. Open the folders in the zip until you find that file, then drag and drop it in to the 64bit folder

That's the only file that needs to be installed for that plugin to work.

well, you shouldn't really ever run OBS as admin unless you know exactly why you need to.

Can you look in the folders there and make sure the file is present? You should see the .dll file like this:

open the obs-backgroundremoval folder, then bin then 64bit and see if you see that file.

Once those are done, we'll start looking into some of the more fun/user facing stuff, which will be exciting! 🙂

So you click export in the script area and a JSON/TXT file will go to your report folder which shows you all of your sources effects plugins which scene and how many

So if you have 3d effect on text gdi in your starting soon scene, it will tell you etc saves time remembering where all your filters are especially if you have a big set up

How do I account for all of these differences?
