@winged knoll k, sorry. I'm going to edit the post
hi, I have a roborock S50 that I installed Valetudo on, should i use the MQTT Vacuum integration or should i use the xiaomi_miio vacuum?
So a while ago, I had HA setup on a Pi, attached to this was a couple of 'mysensors' DHT sensors. These sensors were RF24 which connected to a wifi gateway. I added the gateway to HA with the following in configuration.yaml
mysensors:
gateways:
- device: '192.168.54.25'
Both DHT sensors read the humidity and temperature very well. This project then went on hold, since the batteries did not power the sensors for very long. I have now resurrected the project, the sensors and gateway have not changed, but HA is now a newer version. The problem I'm having is HA is not reading the temperature of the sensors, only the humidity is being returned.
Hi guys,
The response time for the "Tuya"components (like SESOO Touch Wi-Fi Switch) in HA is quiet long (5-10 seconds),
Compere to when using Tuya APP which its working great, immediately.
I'm using Home Assistant (Hassio)
Ubuntu 18.04.3 on NUC i5 intel wired through LAN connection.
There is something can I check or do to reduce it ?
There is any profiling tool/check that I can try ?
Not the answer you want, I'm sure but I would flash it with tasmota, my Tuya plugs with Tasmota firmware respond faster than I can click the toggle in HA.
Could you explain... using Tuya APP working immediately, so how the flash with tasmota , can help for using HA ?
does anyone have a roborock s50 setup, i'm having trouble getting the mqtt configured
@livid otter You can either flash to Tasmota or esphome. See this. https://github.com/ct-Open-Source/tuya-convert Any questions for both of them you need to go to their respective discord. Both Tasmota and ESPhome are well integrated in HA
@peak talon Thanks,
But why it working great with the Tuya app and in other hand with latency on HA ?
well, with Tuya app you are directly connecting to the Tuya servers, with HA there is a bit of re-routing and authentication I guess. When you convert using Tuya-convert, you are controlling locally without internet and letting go of the tuya servers
if you are happy to send the data to Tuya servers, then don't bother converting through tuya-convert
@peak talon Thanks for clarification.
My only concern, is that during the flash, I get stuck.
in my experience, it either gets flashed or it does not. It also takes a backup of the original firmware. I must have flashed about 20 for me and some innumerable for my friends, not even once I had a unsable plug. Yes, some times it did not flash and I had to repeat the process that's it
o.k.
No soldering needed, right?
Is there a need for disconnection from the power supply (out of box)?
okay this will be my last message before I would ask you to go to ESPhome discord. Soldering is Not needed, but if the device is not listed in the Tuya-convert support list, you may not be able to flash. However, in my experience, anything that required smartlife of similar app, is flashable
Thanks, I will move to ESPhome discord and try to find a video tutorial... as well.
Hello everyone
i wonder if i really need mqtt when using sonoff devices wtih home assistant
To be fair, I just googled Home Assistant Sonoff ๐
(and then scrolled down, it's about the fifth hit, so not that obvious)
i flashed my devices with tasmota , but i'm going to check esphome
has anyone ever made cheap temp sensors using these and a DHT11? it seems like an affordable and decently easy way to make little weather stations https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32960577424.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.11854c4dajLiuL
#diy-archived has lots of folks who've done stuff like that
Whoโs using Shelly switches here?
If I use the Shelly switch and my wife turns of the lights on the switch, can I still control the Shelly with the switch off?
depends on the wiring, if you followed the instructions then yes
that's the reason to install shelly in the first place
Cool I didnโt k ow that
Spent a lot of money buying tp Kasa switches
Going to return them
If you cut the power to a smart device, it's not so smart any more ๐
Lol
Iโm checking the prices, Shelly isnโt that cheap compared to my Kasa switches
I paid 19 bucks, they cost 13 bucks...
$13-$15 a shelly isn't bad lol
I thought they were like 5 bucks each
oh no
some sonoff stuff is like thier usb relay
Should I get sonoff or Shelly?
no idea i would imagine so otherwise you'd see reviews saying they dont
Any recommendations for zwave/zigbee hub? Not tied into either protocol right now but doing research and no straight answers (currently running HA on an RPi4)
anyone had success with integrating the ikea blinds swith deconz/HA?
i think ive read every post on the forum but it wont budge
#zigbee-archived can help with zigbee and #zwave-archived with Z-Wave @spare badge
@snow matrix For deCONZ, try #zigbee-archived
thanks
hi, any help with mqtt setup?
Ask your question ๐
I am trying to setup sonoff tasmota, did the configuration.yaml with broker username and password, are this enough parameters? does not seem to work
You can test ๐
Run up an MQTT client, connect to the broker and subscribe to #
Now it'll see any message
Go to
-> MQTT and publish a message to a dummy topic
You could literally pick a topic called dummy and a payload of test
hello
I have Philips wifi bulb added as xiaomi_miio
I'd like to add second light now
the problem is that entity ID which I'm using doesn't look "unique" - it's light.xiaomi_philips_smart_led_ball
is it possible to somehow "split" bulbs to have access to each of them?
Each device will have it's own unique entity_id
HA doesn't let a second "thing" claim an existing id
@snow matrix I have the blinds working with their own hub, it worked in a second.
hello
i try to integrate my EnOcean's rollershutter.
but no idea how to do this ๐
there's no cover options with the enocean plugin
#integrations-archived would be the place to ask
thanks ๐
I'm used to adding everything manually. and the GUI found a new device and I configured it through the GUI. does it add the device back to configuration.yaml?
I don't see it in configuration.yaml does it put it elsewher?
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/xiaomi_aqara/ mentions "Unsupported Devices: Xiaomi Aqara Gateway (lumi.gateway.aqhm01), as it is not possible to activate dev mode in the Mi Home App." Device is supported through the Homekit integration. Is that enough to change that info?
@zealous prawn it doesnโt add to configuration.yaml. The ui config goes into .storage folder.
What power supply to use with nodemcu and a 4ch relay
Regular 5v 2.5amp should work. Each relay only takes up 15-20mA. You should be fine running with NodeMcU
Thanks
good morning everyone
has anyone been able to get the smartthings plug to work in home assistant?
i believe mine is wifi
@lyric hamlet you are using the smarthings integration or through ZigBee stick?
Zigbee stick. But this is wifi
I currently have the xiaomi x360 1080p camera, but seems it is not supported by Home Assistant. Does anyone have recommendations for camera's that work great with HA? I am interested in 1 indoor camera, 2 outdoor cameras and also in a smart doorbell with camera.
Try in #cameras-archived too
Have you checked the ring integration docs? If it does it should mention it there
no
I checked, but no luck. Do you know of any compatible smoke detectors/listeners? (excluding nest protect w/badnest custom_components)
I'd like direct HA compatibility
I would say zwave or zwave via mqtt is direct. Also local without relying on internet or wifi
But if you don't use zwave today I can understand the barrier to entry
For those with Logitech Harmony hubs......I'm noticing when I push an activity on my remote I can wait up to 10 seconds for the hub to react to anything. One it does and im controlling something like my shield its fine (bluetooth) but anything hub related is super slow. I know there is a bit of a delay but this is way out of the ordinary. Any ideas why? Maybe an api issue on their end?
what is the right place to ask questions about gpio module mappings?
I somehow cannot see the logic. I am trying to get the right module mapping for a tuya based rgb bulb. I can get the colors to work, but i need them in the right order (starting from red,green,blue etc). when i swapped for example 2 gpio channels. the colors don't get swapped. I don't see the logic ๐
Try in #cameras-archived too
@wet moat thanks!! Didnโt know about that1
hi
some few days, my mi bedside is unavailable by homeassistant
I can control it by the yeelight android app
and the LAN control is enabled
i check the ip on the router interface, it's still the same, could you help me ? ๐
The yaml didn't change
(I will show you tomorrow when I will be on the computer)
And the IP didn't change
I can ping it from my network
At the IP written in the yaml
Tried the โremove-power-and-put-it-back-onโ with the lamp?
The yaml could not have changed, but there has been a HA update in the past few days
If you use any outdated stuff it could be the reason for not working
I'm going to try this
My HA is up to date
And the lamp firmware too belongs to the yeelight app
Wow !
Thanks a lot
I remove the power and plug it back, and it appears available on the home assistant dashboard
does anyone use valetudo, i'm having trouble connecting it through mqtt
Good work!
Can anyone point me to a tutorial that will show how to have a sensor (wyze sensor in my case) to turn on a light? Yes, I'm a HA NOOB. Thanks
I've spent the whole day look at youtube tutorials and surfing the web. Just more confuse now
Take a look at automations. Trigger: movement (or whatever) on device sensor. Action: service: toggle light on: specific light
I take it you already have the Wyze sensors integrated into HA @brazen viper? You can't use Wyze sensors when using them through the Wyze camera/app. They need to be directly in HA.
hey, I have a ce smart home wf500d from costco, got the firmware on it ok and followed the template https://templates.blakadder.com/ce_smart_home-WF500D.html
toggling on and off doesn't do anything
sliding the dimming on the main menu doesn't do anything either
what would cause this? i have it in my configuration.yaml file?
Component error: customize - Integration 'customize' not found
or was it removed?
You've got an indenting issue
Any time you see errors like that, you've missed spaces
thanks yeah i moved it by accident was no longer under homeassistant:
@ashen apex Yes. I have the Wyze dongle connected to the HA server. I have it working now but found that because of nameing jubbling in the early stages of my learning curve, I will need to start from scratch and reinstall HA and all the plugings. Unless you can tell me how to clean up my entities. It seems MQTT doesn't easely forget.
Hi all. Does anyone have a thought about this situation? https://community.home-assistant.io/t/lutron-caseta-lights-not-responding-in-ha/180678?u=adhawk
Hi all, I've added an integration manually to configuration.yaml and entities show up but nothing in integrations or devices, is there something else I need to do?
The lines I added were:
insteon:
port: /dev/ttyUSB0
The UI for integrations mostly only shows integrations set up in the UI
The Devices and Entities views under Configuration don't show every entity in your system. If you want to see everything, look under Developer Tools then States.
I guess I'm more concerned about how to get things into devices to I can perform actions on them in automations but they don't show up there either
device actions are just a new way of doing the things you've always been able to do
looks like this happens to all of the integrations I add in configuration.yaml, they all show up in entities and I can turn things on and off but the entities don't get organized into a device like the integrations that are added through the UI. Do I need to manually create a device parent and put the entities into it?
anyone work with lutron aurora switches?
Hi
I have sockets that i want to integrete, i use or with "ahome smart" app.
Do you think its possible ?
Anoopsychee
Thanks
M
This one
Sorry @brazen viper, I have basically zero experience with MQTT. I take it your lights are using MQTT?
@ashen apex I have tasmota flashed on some Feit lights. Because they have a both a RGB channel and a White channel I have set them up so that each is controllable seperately on the Tasmota UI. Apparently one of the channels is treated as a switch and the other as a light bulb. I got the Wyze swich working to turn on and off the light when opened and closed, but getting the light to respond is proving difficult. Stay tuned. By the way the new Feit BR30 bulb on Blackaders website was one I contributed. Hope its useful to everyone
Cool, good luck. If you're not having much fun with Tasmota/MQTT, you could investigate ESPHome too. I opted for ESPHome after not grokking the complexities of MQTT quickly enough.
Also means you don't need an MQTT broker.
so i'm new to mqtt/tasmota stuffs... just setup a TH16 (sonoff temp and humidity sensor on switch) with the AM2301 temp/humidity plug for it... I h ave no clue what what one of the status is though... https://imgur.com/a/rvYXbpV
sensor started at 60%, then went to 70 now 72%... but i don't understand what it is giving a status of
nvm, i forgot to scroll over inthe console... seems to match the RSSI of wifi
though it is diff than the rssi in the info page
That is rssi/signal strength
Any UniFi people in the house? 4 APs, trying to troubleshoot why I had 90% of my clients on a single AP.
Have Unifi and some experience.
Few options to check under your Wifi settings. "Optimize for High Performance Devices", "Enable Fast Roaming".
Hey guys i have a question.
I have a PC running MineOS on for my Home Minecraft Server. Now. This OS doesen't feature WakeOnLan, even not in the BIOS however... I thought to remotely turn on and off the PC like a normal button does. Maybe via HomeAssistant? Has somebody an idea how you can implement something like that maybe with an esp8266/esp32?
Switchbot?
why not just parallel over your switch with a relay that can be activated by an arduino?
or something that doesn't blip all it's pins high when you turn it on like a raspberry pi ๐
hm, anybody else have issues with device_tracker shows as home when not home? The geocoded_location shows correct lat/lng but not the device_tracker. I'm using the HA android app.
Worth raising that in #android-archived
@smoky widget its super easy to set up a minecraft container if you swap to an ox that supports WoL and Docker
I've got a some Schlade ZWave deadbolts that are paired to my HA container, its working well
i'd like to send unlock commands via my samsung smart watch
is it possible to add them into that?
Can your smart watch communicate with HA?
If you can get it to make webhook (POST requests) then that would work. Tasker - if it can run there - would do it
hey, I have a ce smart home wf500d from costco, got the firmware on it ok and followed the template https://templates.blakadder.com/ce_smart_home-WF500D.html
@zealous skiff Can you walk through the steps you've taken? I've got a bunch of these working without issues. The only 'problem' I've encountered is that this switch can't be just on/off - it always fades on/off. Fine for most lights, but I've apparently got a couple of LED bulbs that are not dimmable so they flicker on occasion. The method I used was to run tuya-convert to get the base tasmota firmware on, then I've had to upgrade to tasmota minimal, then finally to the standard image, then finally apply the template and the TuyaMCU commands noted in the link you included.
@winged knoll there is aparently a HA app for it, but it doesnt let me go to the hagalaxy.app page
hagalaxy.app page?
That's from 2017...
Ah, it was updated last year, so ๐ค
Doesn't support locks, but you could abuse it by using a template switch that handles the lock. Of course then you've no security on the lock from within HA ๐คท
its not available outside my network anyway
so thats not super concerning for me
@glossy prism How'd you pair up your zwave smoke detectors?
i'm not having much luck
#zwave-archived could help ๐
Yeah I'll be there
cheers, ty
@rain dirge hi, I've figured it out, I had the wrong template
@rain dirge my device is a 2019 rev, the template I was using was for 2018

Hello, I have a simple setup wich i'd like to control with my ipad mini 1st gen running ios 9.3.5. The problem is that it keeps "initializing" in safari, even when using the home assistant app (older) version. It works fine on my newer ios devices and pc. Is there any chance on controlling my home assistant with my ipad mini 1st gen?
Has anybody integrated a quiet cool attic fan that has a low and high speed switch and if you did what did you use. I was thinking about using a Shelly to since it has two switches
Hi , is anyone coule help, please ?
Don't ask to ask. Just ask. If someone knows the answer, they will give it.
~ask @drifting grove
@silk lily When you do ask a question, try to provide as much background detail as possible. Ask yourself these questions first so that others don't have to:
- What version of the software are you running?
- What's your operating system?
- What exactly are you trying to do that won't work?
- Is the problem uniform or erratic?
- What's the exact error message?
- When did it arise?
- What exactly don't you "get"?
- Can you provide sample code, ideally with line errors where the error occurs?
I want to integrate thรจse sockets
I wanted to integrate these home assistant sockets but the devices are not compatible. is there a way to integrate them in your opinion? I thought that the plug was managed by smart life but not the application that manages the devices is "ahome smart". they are integrated into Google home thanks
@tacit plinth @ashen apex I would be super careful enabling those settings. Allot of of wifi devices still do not play well when you enable them. (google cast devices, robot vacuums) Also @tacit plinth are all the APs wired? Even though 90% of your devices are connected to the one AP whats the "Wifi experience" with most of the devices?
root cause was TCL TV 12' away from a AC Lite had roamed to Dream Machine that is 30' and three walls away and couldn't stream a 1080P stream from Plex
4 APs, Dream Machine, two AC lites (hardwired via MOCA) and a wireless mesh AP
new install, been up just about a week
issue has happened twice
if I "reconnect" client, it picks the right AP
Im 99% sure you can force a device to stay connected to a particular AP. That may be what you end up having to do
I'm not ruling out some weird network/MOCA event that blips the AC lites and everything jumps to the Dream Machine
Last night I tried tuning cell sizes via RSSI and what not, didn't have much luck
MOCA is Ethernet over coaxial RG6
ahh cool
new about over Powerline
knew*
whats the Tv's "wifi experience" when connected to the dream machine
vs the AP rigth next to it
and @tacit plinth what it might be... Your AP closest to the TV might be switching to a different wifi band that the RX and TX in the Tv doesnt have..
allot of time the wifi chips in tvs are weaker than puppy piss
think there is a beta setting for the APs to scan for interference every now and then and it could be messing it up
"maybe"
Remember where that is?
I do have that on, but at 3AM
hmm
something to do with roaming... like i said i would proably look into forcing the Tv to stay on that particula AP
Yeah, can you pin it somwhere?
ive never done it
What I settled on last night, I reduced the 2.4 transmit power from auto/high to medium
and I disabled 0-11 and all CCK/802.11b
and turned off auto optimize
All the devices on that side of the house have been stable on that AP since then -- ~ 23hrs now
have you tried changing the order in which you boot up the APs
initially
again tvs typically have crappy chips and I think older chips dont work well with roaming....they just connect and stay connected to the first AP they see
That could be it too
I have the Unifi presence detection on in HA and I went through the state database and I have seen the TV (device_tracker.family_room_tv) flipping between APs quite a bit since the system was installed
but again, in this case last night --- I have 46 normal clients -- all but 4 of them were on the Dream Machine
no alarms were on either
@tacit plinth on that note ive been wondering how to "NOT" track everything on the Unifi presence detection lol
i really only want a handful of devices tracked
I'm pushing 1K entities right now, so what's another 50, lol
I have no idea where they all come from -- zigbee, mqtt, zha..some just add a lot
It's a NUC i7-BEH
ahh yeah
I run mine on a pie 4 4g
have 100+ zibgbee devices
and as of lately get a random lag spike
still havnt narrowed it down but dont think its a hardware bottleneck issue
run deconz... 99% of the time when i walk into a room the lights turn on instantly... then maybe once a day ill walk in and it takes 5secs to turn on
yeah, that is odd -- could be zigbee retries potentially -- or a hardware processing issue
tough to track that down if it doesn't happen very often
yeah i think tink was telling me to trouble shoot with the history or logbook
but it takes like 5min to open those tabs lol so i havnt looked into it
I guess I would look for deconz APSDATA type errors first at that timestamp
but yes, if the time delta between motion event and automation/light state change is large....
dont suppose your running homekit on ios are you?
sooo... i reboot. code pops up in the notification. Open app on my iphone, add a device. HA pops up. enter the code.. says adding device.. 5min later still says that and then says cant connect to accessory at this time
fat rip..
had it working at one time.. cant get it working again now
filter:
include_entities:
- light.all_lights```
Man, I can't even remember setting it up -- did it so long ago and it's always just worked
wonder why you gave yours a IP?
Think I had that in there because I was running homebridge before and had it on a diff port
my HA is of course in a docker..wonder if it cant "get out"
mine too -- but have it in host networking mode, right?
it's the docker equivalent of bridged networking I think
so it's layer two adjacent, things can broadcast to the LAN, mdns/ssdp all works
weird... i never had to do ant of that the first time
it's not technically a requirement, but it makes everything a lot easier -- especially if you want HA discovery and stuff to work
so your IP in the Homekit config
thats your HA IP
what about the port?
gonna try that for giggles i guess
and the i never have understood the auto start thing. By default it is true correct? why would you want it something diferent
back in the old days (pre .105?) if homekit started before your entities were ready (looking at you z-wave) they would never be added
not sure about the port, or if that is even the default
I think I was bouncing around with some stuff on homebridge for awhile
hmm yeah default port it says is 51827 and you have 51829... wonder what give s
should my owntracks be updating known_devices.yaml? i did some searching in this discord and it looks like it's getting deprecated? how can i delete an owntracks device that i accidentally pushed?
i ended up just deleting owntracks and readding it
hi, is it possible to use the HB-RF-USB-TK by the OCCU Addon
does occu addon realy only work with Requires a HM-MOD-RPI-PCB or HmIP-RFUSB
add-on questions are best asked in #add-ons-archived
@last jackal explain the problem
Is there a good rule of thumb for the transition: function of light.turn_on? I'd like to slowly fade the lights from 0 -> 100 over 30 minutes, but any time i feed that large a value, it just goes to 100% immediately
It depends on the integration and device, so there's no "one size fits all"
Is there a reference (or place to poke into the code) that would show what to expect? It's terribly inconsistent between ZHA (light just goes full brightness, transition never works) vs Z-Wave (trying to figure the max before it craters with trial and error, but at least 900s works)
AFAIK it's very hardware dependent so i don't think so
good to know. I'll just keep tinkering to see what hardware gives the least issue and try to deploy only that in the future (new house is almost done... after years of work, trying to finalize all the tinkering i've been doing on and off in HA since .25 days)
Apologies if this isn't the right channel, can anyone recommend a fully wireless video doorbell that doesn't rely on cloud services? Meaning no existing wiring, including for a traditional doorbell, is required.
I realize that, I know some products exist, like one Ring doorbell with integrated solar. I'd just like to avoid cloud services if possible.
There are some DIY things you could probably make, depending on needs, but always on live video is going to need power (or a large solar panel and battery bank)
Or a battery that gets recharged every 1-X days, which I'm willing to deal with for my current application.
I've yet to embark on my HA adventure as I'm doing some preliminary research but what sort of hub would/should I get in order to handle all of my zigbee/zwave devices? Should it be something like SmartThings or is there a cheaper option that will allow the connections and let HA do the automations?
Not SmartThings ๐
Really you want a #zigbee-archived and #zwave-archived USB controller
Hah, fair enough, what would you recommend?
For Zigbee, see the #zigbee-archived channel.
For Z-Wave, see the #zwave-archived channel but almost any Z-Wave Plus stick will do
Okay, I'll have a look. Thanks for the pointers.
nortek husbzb-1 is popular and does both, however it won't work with Zigbee2MQTT
it only works with ZHA
Also only a choice in the USA and Canada ๐
Most folks overlook that, and that Z-Wave is region specifiic
I didn't know that ... good info ty
I knew about the frequency for Z-Wave being super specific to region, which is a pain
While we're on the topic. I currently only own a couple zigbee devices and everything else is WiFi. For a newcomer like myself, which would you recommend going forward with? I understand the bandwidth and power consumption differences but I'm curious which one appears to be more future-proofed from a veteran.
Zigbee IMO
See the pinned messages in #zigbee-archived for the details if you're unsure
Just make sure you run your wifi and Zigbee on different channels
how would one handle this in a crowded urban area? run a scanner and try to pick two low noise channels?
Yup
I read your pinned message in #zigbee-archived on zha, deconz, and zigbee2MQTT but I'm still a little fuzzy. These are "brokers" that handle the transactions between the controller and the device?
Let's head over to #zigbee-archived ๐
Sure
Does someone have some good recommendations on door sensors? with open/closed state. I have zigbee2mqtt but not z-wave. So zigbee/wifi would be amazing. Price doesn't really matter as long as it isn't extremely expensive
Anyone who know why my Yi 1080p Home Camera won't flash?
Tried 2 different SD cards, both formatted FAT32, both yi-hack-v3 and yi-hack-v4 don't seem to work.
Factory reset the camera
After the initial constant orange led it changes to flashing blue instead of flashing orange.
#cameras-archived would likely be the best place to ask
Ah sorry, thanks!
@last jackal explain the problem
@marsh sail never mind solve it
@waxen zenith most probably your latest yi fw close the hole. So you need to downgrade
@last jackal I'll look into it, thanks!
What kind of sensors should I buy that are usually well supported by hassio? Thinking of all kinds of binary sensors like motion, smoke etc. Not for absolute serious purposes so cheap aliexpress stuff is welcome
ok, well. I see a bunch of 433Mhz devices. Not sure about them
zigbee devices are quite expensive
if you think zigbee is expensive, you're gonna hate z-wave
$6 for a door/window sensor, I'd say that's cheap
And yeah, $40 or so for a single Z-Wave sensor
433MHz is dirt cheap for a reason ๐
It is, generally speaking, "send and pray"
With Zigbee and Z-Wave you have a mesh and devices communicate both ways
But Also 433 MHz has a lot more range than Zigbee
The mesh however offsets that (or it should, if you've got one...)
and zigbee not being "assumed state" is a huge benefit
what is the correct english term for a lamp holder, without the lamp?
Im searching aliexpres/banggood etc for a "ip44, gu10 fixture/fitting"... not much luck though
bulb socket
Socket is the generic for all such things
However, depending on what you're after "fixture" may be more correct
what exactly are you looking for?
hello ha community! currently i am setting up a new ha system. I have my homeassistant.local:8123 up and running, but i am facing an issue. I am trying to set up my xiaomi yeelight color v2. But after trying and searching on google and forum's i still haven't found the solution. i tried making an seperate /config/yeelight.yaml file with the following comands in it: yeelight: devices: 192.168.2.17: name: bedroom Roel And i tried to add several commands to the /config/configuration.yaml file like: yeelight: !include yeelight.yaml and light: -platform: yeelight devices: 192.168.2.17 name: "bedroom Roel" model: color2
better now? ๐
Your indenting is a mess
yes i followed the manual

Sorry, I just read the channel topic. Here's the hastebin link: https://hastebin.com/miyetoxesu.sql
I really don't want to sound pushy or anything, but is someone looking at my link? If not, I'll just downgrade or something. But just so I know if I should or shouldn't.

Then I'll just downgrade for now

Sorry for messaging you guys again but i've asked to very experienced HA users to look at my problem. But it still isn't fixed. Maybe there is a bug in HA. I don't know. If i check my yaml file it seems allright but i cant get my yeelight working. It is the version 2 colored. Oh and my logfile is clear of errors
quick question. i just set up some innovelli z wave lights. Im trying to figure out a way to set brigthness depending on time. i.e. in the evening, if i physically touch the switch, it will come on at 20% vs 90% in the day
@quiet parrot can you share a non-whoops version of your config
not one that needs an explanation, but one that definitively shows what it is
@queen vessel I see that you have been updating the Nuheat thermostat integration. Can this perhaps include "isHeating" and "online" attributes from Nuheat's /api/v1/Thermostat? Apologies if they're included. I looked through https://github.com/home-assistant/core/commit/b09a9fc81a3ba9c1f2204899a38dc9c7dfb39935 and didn't see them other than in tests that comments indicated were rolled back. Yes, I'm confused about the dev process here and where to see the pending code-base. I'm happy to provide feedback on the release.
@thick rampart if you checkout the dev branch and install it as a custom_component/nuheat you should be able to test it out on 0.107 and later
Not quite yet on 0.107, heard there may be some zwave issues there and zwave is my major use. Are the isHeating and" online" attributes in the new integration?
Its been a while
I'll look
yes
actually it looks like it should work with even older
If you want to try it
cd <your home assistant config dir>
mkdir custom_components
cd custom_components
git clone https://github.com/bdraco/nuheat.git
and restart
anyone have a fix for a wyze motion sensor not updating using the custom intergration already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the intergration and tried multiple reboots and removing and repairing the sensor with no joy. running the latest of everything
@queen vessel Cool! I had muddled through and finally got the production version working in 0.106 by just setting 'temperature' for hold and the resume.program service to restore the schedule. I'm looking forward to more. The other services didn't seem really to work. I'll pull the new code in the next 24 hours. Family wants dinner now.
Services didn't work for me either. All seems happy now though with the latest changes. Happy to have someone else test it before 0.108 ships so I can address any issues

Random networking question: I set up AdGuard Home on my NAS a few days ago and set my LAN DHCP DNS to resolve to the internal IP for AdGuard which is working fine, but since then Ubiquiti USG capacity has been at 100% without dropping (even when there's basically no requests in the middle of the night). Is that normal? And should I be using that IP just for the LAN? Or should it be used at the WAN level?

Hello, I have a Roku Smart TV, I have been able to get it into Home Assistant as a switch with the following snippet I found on the forums:
switch:
- platform: command_line
switches:
tv_living_room:
command_on: 'curl -X POST http://192.168.1.10:8060/keypress/PowerOn'
command_off: 'curl -X POST http://192.168.1.10:8060/keypress/PowerOff'
command_state: 'curl -s GET http://192.168.1.10:8060/query/device-info | grep power-mode | sed -e "s:<power-mode>DisplayOff</power-mode>:OFF:" -e "s:<power-mode>PowerOn</power-mode>:ON:"'
value_template: '{{ value == "ON" }}'
friendly_name: Living Room TV
However, in the UI I get This entity does not have a unique ID, therefore it's settings can not be managed from the UI.. How do i add that unique id?
And what is the difference between an entity and a device? :/
There's a Roku integration...does that not work with your TV?
I read in the docus autodiscovery should just find any compatible Roku devices but I was unable to get that working
Home Assistant did auto discover all of my google home minis and chromcasts, so autodiscovery is working on my network
But to answer your questions you generally can't add a unique ID, it's usually up to the integration to support it
Try manually adding your TV in configuration.yaml
Can you link me an example of how to do that?
All I found was adding it as a switch
ah, thanks
That just got me a The following integrations and platforms could not be set up: roku on restart

sorry
ah, turns out you need to address the roku by IP, even if the hostname resolves to the right ip
@glossy prism I see it as an entity, but not a device, what's the difference?
Yup, the docs do say IP address
Not all integrations support the Devices page
Devices add the ability to make "device automations" which try to make creating certain automations easier. Devices are I believe physical entities (button, TV, etc.) whereas an entity can be a logical device (template sensor, input_boolean, etc.) or a physical device
All devices are entities, but not all entities are necessarily devices. And again, not all integrations support the Devices page so you might have some physical entities that aren't Devices.
ah, gotcha. Thank you for the info!

@queen vessel I ran 14 tests on the new nuheat code. Two failed, one I think is not a valid use case, the other is a problem. Here are the tests:
The one that failed is 13
13: Change Temperature of Temporary Hold using set_temperature service (FAILS)
The probable bad use case is:
3: Restore 'auto' hvac_mode from preset_mode of 'Permanent Hold' - option 1 using set_temperature service (FAILS)
Thanks for doing the testing! Would you open an issue with all the detail so I can work it as soon as I have some spare cycles
@thick rampart ^^
I'll open an issue. I'm also poking at the code a bit. Maybe I can learn some python and fix it. I haven't done purposeful QA or written code in a while. Gives me something to do while sheltered-in-place.
Let me know if you plan on fixing it, and @ me for the review.
I want to fix it and will open issue when fixed, or given up. Sigh, how do I enable debug mode? I see the _LOGGER.debug that's in the code (in the set_temperature function btw), but don't see the output. Enthusiastic noob.
Sorry, found logger levels
@thick rampart https://github.com/home-assistant/core/pull/33316

and will be fixed in 0.108 as well
Looks good so far in setting Temperature in Temporary Hold. I'll run through the tests again tomorrow. THANKS!

Hi Guys, noob day one users, I done all the adding of hacs to get the phillips hue remote showing in entity, how do i make this a ''device'' so i can use it in triggers?
It doesn't need to be a device to be used in triggers, you can trigger on state changes
See developer tools > states
@glossy prism Thanks :D, what is entered for the ''from'' 'to'' ''for'' section
1_click_up
so I assume if you wanted the trigger for two buttons you would put something diffrent in two and from, but just one button you put one? like 1_click_up and 1_click_up in the from and to
in qoutes as it might messup the docs says, sorry for noob questions
From and to are exactly like they sound. The state has to go specifically from one state to another to trigger
what if you want it to trigger regardless of the last state/
Just fill in to:
I see, and what is for button mean? sorry for questions I know its in the doc but still learning to understand guides
''for''
It has to match the to state for a specific period of time before it will trigger
sorry I probs do better with an example, lets say I want it when I press the on button in this case ''1_click_up '' it triggers, what would I put in the ''for'' section
Thanks will switch ๐
Can anyone help with a Minimote setup?
https://hastebin.com/licijebiju.sql I'm having this exception whenever I toggle my switches. :/
Ladies and gentlemen. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direct. I have a electrical outlet that is giving me a problem. Every so often devices connected to it power cycle. I am planning on ordering a wifi outlet device that can monitor both voltage and amperes which I will store the values in influx and visualize with grafana.
My question is as follows, is there a way with either tasmota or ESPHome to be notified when a device is power cycled?
@sleek vortex What kind of switches are you using, what firmware and version are you using? Does it happen with all of your switches? Do the switches work and do you see that status update in you Home Assistant dashboard/screen?
@lilac spindle What kind of help are you looking for?
I believe I have the minimote paired but can't get automations or any actions to be triggered by the remote. I don't know how to test it either.
I have followed the example in docs and modified to fit my environment but no dice. When I build the automation it triggers the scene properly and I can make that work manually but not with remote.
Yes Aeon
Yes I copied that yaml config and had to alter it so it didn't error in my config check.
Yeah, it's missing actions ๐
Shall I paste what I have here?
I've tried building this inside the automations editor and still nothing.
Please use https://www.hastebin.com/ or https://paste.ubuntu.com/ to share code or logs.
My gut feeling is that the Zwave portion isn't working but don't know how to test.
@coral hound I am using Klikaanklikuit switches. They used to work fine in version 105 under docker. After updating to 107 I can't get them to work anymore. Even downgrading my docker container to homeassistant/home-assistant:0.105.6 doesn't fix it for me.
It happens with everything hooked up to the RFXtrx tranceiver.
Shouldn't there be some type of identifier for each button on the minimote? How do the automations understand which button was pressed?
And the state of the switch does not update, even though the light does turn on and off when I use the klikaanklikuit remote
I can fire the zwave event in dev tools and the automation and scene work fine. I just don't see the remote sending the command. Where can I look for that?
-> Events -> Listen to events
Yes I understand that, I can publish the event on the bus and it triggers the automation fine. What I'm not seeing is the output from the remote itself.
I didn't say publish I said Listen
anyone here have a hard-wired security system like dsc, or interlogix with monitoring and also connected to home assistant that you're very happy with? Getting ready to build and looking for options.
Okay, after some more testing of my transmitter, it's probably dead.
Hello!
I have 3 sensors in home assistant
but the one with no_occupancy_since json template does not get added as a sensor to home assistant
So I am trying to exclude a number of local ips from my nmap setup. - platform: nmap_tracker hosts: 192.168.1.0/24 home_interval: 10 exclude: - 192.168.1.1,2,3,6,7,8,9,12,13,16,18,19,22,30,32,23,24,152 Can I not do it this way? or is the way I have them separated?
I didn't say publish I said Listen
@winged knoll I am running Listen but at the same time, If I push the button on the remote nothing shows up under LISTENING. When I PUBLISH, the LISTENING sees the request and runs the automation fine. This tells me the break in communications is between the remote and HA. Zwave sees the device but is there something more to the Zwave configuration or device configuration that may be missing?
Then... it sounds like the device may not be sending anything ๐คท
#zwave-archived would be a good place to check that there's not settings you're overlooking on the device
I can set modes for the buttons (1-4) for Add, Scene, Remove Association, Learn and Default. I have each button set to Scene. The buttons say 241: Button #1 Programmable? I find it interesting why it calls them "241, 242,243 and 244". Do those numbers need to be called out somewhere?
This is the verbage that goes with it Default Mode 0 The button on the Minimote uses the factory default functions for operation instead of any special functionality related to the below modes. Scene Mode 1 The button on the Minimote executes a scene from data received for Parameters Numbers 0-239 related to the button being pressed. Add Mode 2 The button on the Minimote is able to include/add devices into the Z-Wave network. Remove Mode 3 The button on the Minimote is able to remove devices from the Z-Wave network. Association Mode 4 The button on the Minimote is able to associate one device to another. Learn Mode 5 The button on the Minimote is able to allow the Minimote to be included into other Z-Wave networks and to learn Z-Wave network information.
I'd ask in #zwave-archived
@sleek vortex Sorry to hear that. I was going to suggest that you try installing a "testing" environment in a separate folder to see if that would solve the issue. I have had problems with my the configuration after an update.
hi
I would like to use the bluetooth of a raspberry from my virtual machine. it's possible ?
my virtual machine is on a synology NAS which does not have bluetooth. So I would like to use the bluetooth of a raspberry which sends the information to home assistant.
use a remote bluetooth
@shadow condor Is your Home Assistant running in Synology NAS?
or on Raspberry Pi?
You could potentially use a USB over IP solution to pass through a device, or possibly put a usb dongle on the synology and set up pass through
Similar to zwave stick with docker
Hi all, i'm about to create a new component for the MC6 thermostat. For now i have only a simple python script to test the connection with the devices, but it works. So if you want to try using it yourself the code is here: https://github.com/LucaEstiva/MC6_Thermostat/blob/master/README.md
Make the real component need more time, but the "full" http requests data are available ๐
PS: This is my contribute, thanks to all !
@shadow condor Is your Home Assistant running in Synology NAS?
@round horizon yes NAS, and the antenna is a RPI 3.
an idea ???
You can't do that easily. What you might be able to do is run whatever it is you need on the other system
Or, run HA there and use https://github.com/lukas-hetzenecker/home-assistant-remote to sync the two
Does anyone use Milestone with home assistant?
Strange - My TP Link devices just went offline, and I can't seem to remove the TP Link integration and rediscover the devices. This has worked in the past. I have now tried to upgrade to the latest HA version as of this minute and the integration shows empty. I removed tplink: from config, and still tplink comes back on reboots, empty of devices.
No errors in developer logs or supervisor logs

has anyone successfully flashed a sonoff touch w/ 3.3.0 fw?
@livid citrus The sonoffs are flashed using serial; on board FW from itead donโt really matter much.
How would I link a Pi Zero to HA, so it shows as an entry I can send media to? I want to conect speakers to my Zero, and use that similarly to Alexa or a Chromecast.
@tame ivy thatโs my problem. Everything should be fine but itโs like itโs got weird settings for transfer. I thought there might be a difference since itโs esp8285 but idk
@livid citrus details please. Device? What FW are you flashing on it? Serial or ITead OTA?
@tame ivy so it has eWeLink 3.3.0 currently. Trying to flash tasmoda 8.2. Iโve been trying serial. I attempted Sonota but no luck. Not sure what itead ota is
Device?
Hi everyone! Newbie here.
I am not sure to be honest where to address my issue - quite complex, maybe you will point me in a correct direction.
So this is the situation
I installed hass.io on VirtualBox and connected a couple of devices - everything works quite good, but all of them are integreated through second service - not directly.
Now, I have a Mija temperature sensor (BLE).
I bought bluetooth BLE dongle from China, and installed it. Now I want to read data from mija sensor, but looks like HassIo does not see it. I believe the problem is that VirtualBox is not sharing it properly, but I am lost in this.
This all is on a windows 10 machine
#330944238910963714 would be where to start, since your first challenge is in that space
thank you, will pop there
Dear All, could you please explain how does the device synchronization work for MQTT devices ? I mean for example i have device with relays, after relay-device restart(and powered off) the all relays will have a new default state(which is off), and then device will send the status message to HA and state in HA will be changed to the real one, but should not device request the latest status from the host in order to set it accordingly?
anyone using a z wave switch (or other controllable switch) along with controllable bulbs?
RomanCyprus, I think it depends on if the mqtt has retain flag on or not. Maybe someone knows better?
Hey guys, I'm looking for recommendation on device combinations to accomplish what I thought was pretty simple but doesn't seem to be... or I've simply been unlucky. I have LED strips controlled by a MagicLight compatible controller. All I want is a simple wireless button to turn the strip ON/OFF and, if possible, adjust brightness. I bought an Ikea hub and wireless dimmer and everything is integrated in Hass.io, including the LED strip controller. However, it appears as if Hass can only retrieve its battery status but not perform action on button press. I've read that a Hue Smart Button might work, but couldn't get solid confirmation. I'm also wondering if I could link that button to my Ikea Hub or I'd be forced to buy a Hue Hub. Aqara also seem like a possible solution but essential impossible to get here in Canada. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
generally an entity for the button press itself isn't created, so you usually have to listen for button press events for buttons (or use a "device automation")
also a good choice if you're looking to buy some zigbee stuff is to get a USB zigbee stick to act as the controller
Ok so you're saying that it is technically feasible to use what I already have?
i'm not sure if it works with the Tradfri integration (which i'm guessing you're using) but i know it does if you have a zigbee stick
Ok, I did try a deconz a couple of months back but had several issues with it.. probably from a lack of proper knowledge but I decided to return it.
FWIW, i've had good luck with ZHA
i'm using the HUSBZB-1 zigbee/z-wave combo stick (US only)
Ok good to know. There's one available on Amazon Canada for 60$... I think I'll give it a try
Thanks for your help, really appreciated
no prob
@tame ivy they are the sonoff t0us1ch and t0us3ch touch switches.
They should a breeze to tasmotize - I have done a few and simply followed the tutorial on the blakadder repo
Good Morning, As Wink screws up more and more I'm trying to decide if I'm going with Hubitat, OpenHab or HA. As such what device that supports zigbee and zwave is supported/works best for HA?
zigbee AND zwave? https://zigbee.blakadder.com/coordinator_Nortek_HUSBZB-1.html
good to keep the options open
agreed and thank you.. looks like the same one for openhab
Does the facebook portal work with HA?
@split pumice There's three #zigbee-archived integrations here, each with slightly different device support and features - so you can pick which you want based on your needs
Each has different Zigbee board support, with zha supporting the widest range of boards currently
ok
The #zigbee-archived channel can explain more, but the TL/DR is - yes, there's support for pretty much any Zigbee device on the planet
#zwave-archived is currently undergoing a transition from OpenZWave 1.4 to 1.6, but from an end user perspective it just means "is currently ok and is getting better"
crap. wrong section. sorrry
what do you guys think about: Frame.IoT ?
Hi.. I am newbie, I have to configure a pir sensor with nodemcu and tasmota. In tasmota I used generic module. I have cheked for tutorial, but I found help just for one wire sensor. My sensor has two wires. It is an Hikvision Pyronix KX dual tech. It is possible to configure in some way?
@tame ivy yeah the only thing i can think of is that they dont like my ftdi (even though everything else works fine). i'll have to dig around i think i have another one somewhere.
Has anyone got the Tilt sensor on the SmartThings multipurpose sensor working? (Centralite 3321S) I have one on my garage door but it does not report tilt in Home Assistant
planning what devices you need to get - is the most challenging thing about Hass
i bought and placed smart bulbs in places where a switch could have been better
and other relative combinations
Hi all... i'm having difficultly finding out if one can add entities without reloading? most things now you seem to be able to trigger a reload in "server controls", but I can't see any for things like sensors, input_boolean, etc, that typically i've added into configuration and had to restart the server... is there a way to do it "live" yet?
Depends @still pier - some things have reload services that aren't mentioned in the control panel, input_x etc, but not sensors, switches, lights
Hi,
I'm looking to setup a second raspberry Pi to handle all the z wave devices. How would I expose the entities to the first hassio raspberry Pi installation?
I can't seem to find resources online to see if it's possible.
Thanks
Oh nice thank you so much. I couldn't seem to tell Google what I wanted. Appreciate it!
No worries, it's what I use
I went with listing only the entities (and services) I want exposed, to cut down on activity - https://github.com/DubhAd/Home-AssistantConfig/blob/master/remote_ha.yaml
That is really nice. I'm gonna go through all that. Helps alot ๐
Hi, I wanna ask you - can this led works with HA? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32883690565.html?spm=2114.12010615.8148356.68.60052971sGY2aM ? lookslike its wi-fi
If it can be flashed with Tasmota yes. Otherwise depends on whether it has an API
looks like its work with tuya - https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/tuya/
Then it'll work, either with the Tuya cloud API, or potentially flashed for purely local control
about tuya - how exactly does it work? the integration with tuya need internet connection all time, or only from start and then all devices that were added work locally?
IoT class: Cloud Polling
thats mean if no internet connection - I lose my control on that leds?
thanks!
You may be able to flash it with Tasmota - the Tasmota Discord would be a good place to ask
what is a Tasmota ?
Here , try this:
http://letmegooglethat.com/?q=tasmota
That'll lead you to their GitHub, then to their docs at https://tasmota.github.io/docs/

The adapter shows up as /dev/ttyUSB0
See the link I posted
But curently testing on windows
Yeah, well, can't help with that ๐
The issue is that the ups doesent reposnd to anything on the serial port
Right, but if you want help, you need to do the things people ask you to do ๐
OK
Will hook it up to the Pi and be back
I am back.
Currently SSHd into the Pi,will try going through the guide you linked
It says UPS comms lost...
Weird
Tested the cable (shorted out RX TX), it works. Using an USB wifi adapter, so USB works
And the UPS works too (on powerup I get "?")
I set it up according to the apcupsd docs (the guide you linked didnt mention serial comms), and it looses the connection to the UPS
Got a non-Pi system that runs Linux you can test on?
Nope
This is a Pi3 or above?
How are you powering it?
Official Pi PSU
I'd take it to a Raspbian forum, see if somebody who knows apcupsd can help you work out why it's not responding
OK thanks
You've got a spare?
Hi all, anyone used tasmotizer? Ideally on a h801? I have flashed it and put config of WiFi into it (I think) but itโs not showing up on my network so Iโm doing something wrong ๐ฌ thanks
h801 has a specific serial port quirk... read teh instructions on templates.blakadder.com
Will have a look, but know about the tx to tx/ rx to rx... thanks
Have read all of that, and yes details the tx and rx thing and having to put the jumper on, most of it refers to the old way of flashing before tasmotizer, and about the module 20, I think but maybe wrong that tasmotizer does all this for you...?
have you changed module in tasmotizer?
What I have done is this, flashed with full bin, even went back to stock bin... so know the flash is working, then removed link Re-powered on, then went into config, selected module h801, set WiFi to my network and it said written file, Re powered signal light flashes but not showing up on network...
did you look for the AP?
No nothing like that show up?
You mean access protocol right?
Had a thought which I will try later... do I need to put the link back on the write the config file in?
i mean wifi access point per instructions
Ticked WiFi, entered my SSID, and WiFi password, left everything else alone
Wondering if it the fact j3 was open when I wrote the config file?
Anyone know if HA can be installed from USB drive?
Depends on your chosen install method - ask in #330944238910963714 or #672217570283094017 accordingly
Software can be installed on tape, should you wish, but I don't think that's what you're really asking
#330944238910963714 would be where to ask then

hi guys, I have nodemcu+tastmota+pir. In tasmota console I see On and Off of the PIR, but I don't find any solution to see in HA and lovelace. Anyone can help me?
protocol MQTT
I tried step by step solution of DRZZZ but probably is too old and I can't see anything in HA
Hello there, is anyone here that has D-Link DSP W115 smart Plug ? I can"t make it work in HA. pls Help
~crosspost @weary moat
@weary moat Please DO NOT cross post. Read the channel description, post it and wait for folks to respond.
@sleek vortex Sorry to hear that. I was going to suggest that you try installing a "testing" environment in a separate folder to see if that would solve the issue. I have had problems with my the configuration after an update.
@coral hound
Yeah that's what I did. And I did some further inspection with some other libraries. But they can't communicate with my rfxtrx either. So that's how I came to the conclusion that my device must be dead. I took the tranceiver to my inlaws who have a windows machine to test the "manager" program they make available on their website. But even their own software doesn't seem to help. So that's how I came to the conclusion that the tranceiver must be dead. Happens...
I'm using Tasmota and have a D1-mini with 2 relays. I've set Option19 1 on the Tasmota so it will do autodiscovery, and in mqtt I see:

But in Home Assistant (0.107.7) it only discovers the first relay... any ideas if this is a bug in Tasmota or Home Assistant?
what should i do in order to start listening what happen to a smart plug that turn off randomly? Idk if i was clear enough. TY
Check Logbook to see if it's one of the automations doing it
Could anyone give me a hint, how to integrate the xiaomi air purifier 3H in homeassistant? German speaking would be prefered ๐
homeassistant gives me the info "The following integrations and plattforms could bot be set up: device_tracker_xiamo_miio
See https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/fan.xiaomi_miio/#configuration-variables (and just above)
@winged knoll Thanks I did that the day before, but the device (purifier 3H) is not reachable. Got the token and the ip-adress of the device
Not sure how/why you're getting device tracker errors then ๐คท
Hopefully somebody who uses the air purifier can help you then
Just a question because I am completely new to home assistant
It'll help if you share the relevant section(s) of your config
https://github.com/rytilahti/python-miio do I have to merge something, because there it says the purifier 3H is working
Hopefully you're using secrets (https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/configuration/secrets/)
Nope, no merge, just follow exactly what the docs show
secrects? No, never heard of that before
Nobody ever reads the docs any more ๐
Rather than putting sensitive information (passwords, locations, etc) into your configuration, you can store them in secrets to make sharing easier.
The problem is, the setp-by-step instructions for newbies like me, won't tell you that
Well, there's an assumption you read the docs, not just the Getting Started guide ๐
I have nothing to hide, how can I send you my configurations.yaml
Please use https://www.hastebin.com/ or https://paste.ubuntu.com/ to share code or logs.
Please use https://www.hastebin.com/ or https://paste.ubuntu.com/ to share code or logs.
@winged knollhttps://paste.ubuntu.com/p/4Q4HBP9knq/
@winged knoll very simple, as I am at the very beginning
~irc @drifting grove
@frozen girder Discord isn't like IRC, you don't have to tag people on every response. Keep in mind that every time you tag somebody, they get a notification ping. That can very quickly become annoying and people may block you.
device_tracker:
- platform: xiaomi_miio
``` ๐ค
That's not what the docs show
fan:
# Example configuration.yaml entry
- platform: xiaomi_miio
That is what the docs show
Took it from there...https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/xiaomi_miio/
The xiaomi_miio device tracker platform is observing your Xiaomi Mi WiFi Repeater 2 and reporting all associated WiFi clients.
Is this a WiFi repeater?
no
Are you trying to track your WiFi clients?
nope
because the github led me there
Stop reading GitHub ๐
Use the integrations list and the search box there
Also, take the time to read the page and make sure things match what you're doing
If they don't, you're likely on the wrong page
okay, so right now, I just have to chance the "device" into "fan"?
see the link I posted
I checked the first, the purifier 3H is not mentioned
Try it, see ๐คท
and that confuses me, as pyhton_miio says it is supported
Okay still the same error as yesterday, the device is still not reachable
What's the full error?
Unable to discover a device at adress 192.xxxxxxx
checked my router and the given ip-adress is correct
and: Got exception while fetching the state: {'code': -5001, 'message': 'command error'}
any further ideas?
cameras to homekit is supported?
thanks for that . it seems thats not supported. if I want dark sky weather as a temp sensor in homekit, is that possible thru HA?
Looks to be
ok so I added weather.dark_sky under include_entities, what should I put in under its entity_config?
not familiar with the homekit integration, but just a warning--dark sky was purchased by apple and they're discontinuing the API next year, meaning it won't work with home assistant anymore
Hi all, trying to tasmota a sonoff t2uk3c, using tasmotizer, have flashed, and sent wifi config, but get wifi light flashing, have i done something wrong as no device shows up in my wifis ip list? Thanks
does it spawn a WiFi AP?
not familiar with the homekit integration, but just a warning--dark sky was purchased by apple and they're discontinuing the API next year, meaning it won't work with home assistant anymore
@glossy prism Ik . Just using it as a starting point atm
hang on yes got a tasmota_a93232-4658
wifi ac point just appeared
trying to connect to it...
im powered still from the ftdi flasher...
gpio open (not grounded)
oooh... not 100% that itll work
not connecting.... taking a while...
stoped trying to connect to the tasmota wifi...
any suggestions?
i sent config file for t1 3ch,
did you send it after power cycling the device?
Yes
i can try the whole process again, please tell me if this is correct...
short gpio to grd
your usb-to-serial might be causing issues if there's not enough power
flash with tasmota.bin
remove pwr, disconnect gpio from gnd
power on
send config
power off and back on
if you follow the tasmota.com described procedure there shouldn't be any issues
thats what i have done, but not seeing on wifi network and wifi light on sonoff just flashes
trying to flash again
there are instructions on how to configure using other means
and nothing there mentions lights flashing in any particular manner
i know, looked at a video by drzzz who shows a t1 and uses putty and termite, but couldnt get any comunication working...
then you're doing something wrong
i know but cant work out what ๐ฌ
so, re-flashed, disconnected gpio from gnd, powered off and on, got a wifi network from it.... tasmota_a93232-4658
so can assume flash worked?
ok so talk to it from putty
yes it worked
the flash that is, device might not work properly depending on power source or other stuff
so do i try and send a config from tasmotizer now
i like how you're insisting on using a method that didn't previously work
i kinda like, the ui seems simple, but your correct its not working
tried to send one, checked in temite, ipaddress1 and get ipunset
so will need to try and find the setting to send it via temite i guess ๐ฌ
How did I get my sonoff to start publishign state on stat/devicename/POWER1 instead of stat/devicename/POWER?
Somehow it flipped over to POWER1 and my HA config is still looking for state on just POWER
@sharp fjord why are you sending ipaddresssettings before making sure the wifi is connecting properly?
@tacit plinth there's a setoption for that https://tasmota.github.io/docs/Commands#setoptions
@zealous dune So weird -- doing it on two, 99% sure I didn't change anything
read through all the set options....
I wonder if tasmoadmin did something smart for me....
@sharp fjord why are you sending
ipaddresssettings before making sure the wifi is connecting properly?
@zealous dune trying to see if the config file allowed it to see my wifi.
@tacit plinth there's a setoption for that https://tasmota.github.io/docs/Commands#setoptions
@zealous dune thanks will look at that
@tacit plinth we don't trust TasmoAdmin in general
@sharp fjord did you send ssid1 and password1 commands?
it's only bricked two of my devices so far ๐
@sharp fjord did you send ssid1 and password1 commands?
@zealous dune no, was using tasmotizer, and trying with config file from that. I new to all tjus so was trying for an easy solution, im not a programmer just a user with some electronic and electrical knowledge, smart home is a new venture for me
@tacit plinth that is withing the statistical range
never had an issue before, but tried the FW upgrade twice through tasmoadmin..... ๐คทโโ๏ธ
just sonoff basics, had to pull and replace them -- will flash with the cable later
never had an issue before, but tried the FW upgrade twice through tasmoadmin..... ๐คทโโ๏ธ
@tacit plinth it flashes tamota ok, but not the config
if i send set ssid1 and password1 commands will i then be able to see it in tasmoadmin, to do rest if config?
guess i shoud set module type as well?
are you running tasmoadmin while configuring the new device?
if its running its sending http requests to your device every 5 seconds... that tends to choke them or even crash them constantly
ah - didnt know that...
didnt think it would have any effect until the divice is added in there
will have to try this all later now as my daughter just got home... thanks for all the pointers, i will get there... was thinking i was starting easy with ha and tasmota... but seems to be a steep learning curve lol
a bit
Looking for a way to get rid of some ghost devices... left over from attempts to add z-wave and zigbee devices where the add process failed... I have tried everything I could find in the forums. My last attempt was to use samba to get access to the core.device_registry and entity files. Stopped the server from the cli, edited the files and saved them, restarted the server and these files were overwritten upon startup and the devices I removed were added to the end of the files... I must either be missing something stupid simple or these files are generated from some other set of files... Can someone give me a few tips?
So after hours this afternoon, re-flashed my sonoff, with tasmotizer, then connected to it wifi with my ipad, configured it to my wifi, then went into tasmoadmin and configured it, all in about 10mins! Thanks for the help @zealous dune also @tacit plinth ๐บ
Does anyone know of a battery powered energy meter pulse counter
@void hollow I use the efergy hardware and an SDR receiver to decode the message so I donโt use the terrible efergy cloud
Battery life is pretty good
Good morning from germany, still have the problem that the Xiaomi air purifier 3H isn't reachable.
The log tells me: 2020-04-02 09:12:27 ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.xiaomi_miio.fan] Got exception while fetching the state: {'code': -5001, 'message': 'command error'}
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/xiaomi_aqara/ mentions "Unsupported Devices: Xiaomi Aqara Gateway (lumi.gateway.aqhm01), as it is not possible to activate dev mode in the Mi Home App." Device is supported through the Homekit integration. Is that enough to change that info?
@split atlas Hello. Is it really supported? I'm trying to use it, but got problems.
Hello. I added my aqara hub (ZHWG11LM/lumi.gateway.aqhm01) via HomeKit integration. But I don't see my water sensors.
I use latest version HA. It is not supported yet?
I can only control LED and ARM mode on this hub.
Screenshot: https://i.ibb.co/8rpJZ80/image.png
It is supported, my very same hub did support all my sensors (temp, door&window) and also the lights.
I switched to Zigbee2MQTT though, works better with all zigbee devices combined, not just Xiaomi platform
Has anyone got a custom remote component for the Fire TV? When I call ADB commands for keypresses they are horribly slow and take 5-10 seconds to register...
I'd like to make updates to the web interface faster. Presently, I'm running Home Assistant on a Mint Linux Laptop. I probably have about 12 devices hanging off it. Mostly TASMOTA flashed Sonoffs, but a few raw ESP-8266s. Since they're spattered around the house, I mostly add temperature sensors to them. One of them has 6 temperature sensors (up the side of the hot water tank, so I can tell the hot water level).
One thing which makes the web interface run a lot faster is when I reduce the size of the database file. I've limited it to 7 days and it's still over 2Gb. Ideally, I'd like to keep 30 days data.
The CPU nor disk every goes really busy. Not even on a web page refresh. Does it sound like sifting the database is the bottleneck? I'm considering swapping out the HDD for an SSD, but I'd like to look at soft options first. What else might I look for? Is there a faster database?
Moving away from SQLite to ... anything else will be a big improvement
I'd also move historical data to something like InfluxDB
I presume SQLlite is the default, which I'm using (unbeknown to me)? Give me an entry point, please. Steer me tot he idiot's guide to moving away from this DB.
If I move historical data to a second DB, is that still interfacing to HA? Has this been done? Can I integrate with two DBs?
It is, yes
InfluxDB isn't used by HA's UI
It is supported, my very same hub did support all my sensors (temp, door&window) and also the lights.
I switched to Zigbee2MQTT though, works better with all zigbee devices combined, not just Xiaomi platform
@split atlas Can you please provide any ref/manual or some information how to configure it? Thanks.
For Zigbee2MQTT see https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/, and the #zigbee-archived or the Zigbee2MQTT Discord
No, I'm asking about my hub (ZHWG11LM/lumi.gateway.aqhm01). Thanks.
anyone know how to remove a single device from an integration?
@split atlas Can you please provide any ref/manual or some information how to configure it? Thanks.
@ocean hinge Make sure to add all sensors/zigbee devices through the Xiaomi app. Do that this specific way:
- First add the Hub to the App
- click the hub, and choose 'child devices'
- add the zigbee devices there. If you do it through 'add device' in Xiaomi app itself it will not work as well
- after all child devices have been added, add hub to HA through Homekit integration
but if you are planning on having a wider range of devices in your house I would advice you to use Zigbee2MQTT and ditch Xiaomi hub all together
Hi all, still struggling... trying to get my 1st device - a sonoff flashed with tasmota into home assistant, have mqtt (mosquiotto) installed, tried viewing youtube guides, tried setopion19 1 (that reset its ssid config...?..) all stuff im finding seems to be out of date, as the configuration.yamlโs show a #homeassistant at the start and mine doesnt , tried to put it in manually in the yaml, but dont really j derstand what im doing... would like to get one thing up and running do i can start to learn by playing with it - any help please
its a sonoff, t2uk3ch...
switch
the windows app mqttexplorer is a nice way see what is going on. or the mosquitto_sub/pub cli linux commands
and i think the tasmota console shows what its publishing
see if the mqtt stuff is being sent out and what you expect. there's also the topic sub tool in dev tools in HA
i just like the windows tool because of its hierarchy and history
I can see a client Connectionwith the ip address of the sonoff sw in mosquitto Log...
so thats good, is it publishing any messages?
p2, c1, k30 uโmqttuserโ
you can sub to topic "#" to see everything
not sure where or what you mean... sorry complete noob
its ok, for quick an easy, go to dev tools in HA -> mqtt and listen to topic "#"
you may need to make the device do something for it to publish
so in dev tools, mqtt
listen to a topic put # and clicked start listening
screen went loading data and then back to dev tools screen
if i look at the logs i can see a new websockey.api(ERROR)
uh
websocket_api.
ok, what do you see in tasmota webui console ?
I see messages like - 15:43:35 MQT: basket/tele/SENSOR = {"Time":"2020-04-02T15:43:35","ENERGY":{"TotalStartTime":"2019-11-26T03:16:55","Total ....
i think all my tasmota logging settings are default
what is that? I have tasmoadmin installed in ha?
it may depend on the tasmota firmware you used, but try to go to the ip of the device in a webbrowser
the latest fin .bin file
i dont have a wide breadth of experience /w tasmota, just going off what i'm able to do in my environment
hey any help - is appreicated - im stuck lol
so if i go t ip address and console
i get a stat/tasmota....... /status1 repeated upto status11
about evert 8 seconds
can you paste the first part of one line like i did?
turn off bloody tasmoadmin
depends on how unstable you like your devices
@zealous dune I want things to be stable
tasmoadmin send http requests every 5 seconds to a tiny "cpu"
ah ok, imput it back on, to see if itbwould help me at all
so its publishing messages to the stat topic good. I see you talked about option19 above, why did you disable that?
i saw on a youtube vid by @ionic palm that sending that would make the switch auto find in ha
it didnt... lol
it should have once a few things are setup. you need to make sure the autodiscovery prefix is configured in ha.
cant find that...
have been looking...
there's a config block on the first page w/ an example
yes i looked at that earlier, but thought it was just for an old inbuilt mqtt funtion of ha, will that work with mosquitto mqtt?
guess i add it to the configuration.yaml ?
yes
what is the sonoff device type?
it looks like autodiscovery does not work for fans/covers
its a 3 gang light switch
t2uk3ch
copied and pasted that into my configuration.yaml
restarted ha
get the following error
The following integration and platforms could not be set up:
mqtt
please check your config
Always run the configuration check command when you make changes. Don't trust the UI check - it misses some problems.
Not sure how to?
Have you read the doc page that links to?
now i notice HA documentation doesn't mention MQTT integration
Have you read the doc page that links to?
@winged knoll - im afriad i dont understant it, it talks about using a command, but dont know where to enter it
You need to SSH to your host
