with no admin rights (work computer)
but i guess i could do this before going to the "site"
You could try the SSH route. It's not like it has to compile anything, so it'll work okay.
I hated using the ESPHome addon on a Pi. Took so long and often locked up the Pi.
oh?
any appdaemon expert here?
Generally, don't ask to ask - just ask.
But there's also an appdaemon discord for specific questions. Let me see if I can find you a link.
@steady bobcat Thanks. Asked over there.
@wheat basin your yaml never gets changed automatically. you have to add those yourself
I'm getting an alexa media player captcha now that I can't see and it says this:
Important Message! To better protect your account, please re-enter your password and then enter the characters as they are shown in the image below.
I updated the addon on this morning, didn't help.
how the f do I enter my password with no password prompt.
also, can't see the captcha lol.
Alexa media player is not an add-on nor is it an official integration, but #integrations-archived
There are no add-ons in HACS
got it
cogneato: trying to redirect the log output for mosquitto - do you have that set up?
I have it reading in an external conf file, but log_dest file doesn't seem to be working in it
Is it possible for an add-on to specify its own snapshot creation? I'm thinking of the MariaDB one, where the files backing the database should not be copied underneath a running database server.
Hello ! Does someone has Unifi Controller Addon ? I have a problem, the Unifi AP show as Disconnected. How to update the controller software? Now is on 5.12.72 and the latest software out there is 5.13.29
Add-ons are updated by the add-on developer. When that happens you would then update.
Suddenly, I'm having issues with my Xiamo Rasbpee sensors. Anyone here that can help?
Don't ask to ask, just ask your question. Then people can answer when they're around.
When you do ask a question, try to provide as much background detail as possible. Ask yourself these questions first so that others don't have to:
- What version of the Home Assistant are you running? (remember, last isn't a version)
- What exactly are you trying to do that won't work?
- Is the problem uniform or erratic?
- What's the exact error message?
- When did it arise?
- What exactly don't you "get"?
- Can you share sample code, ideally with line errors where the error occurs?
@full sparrow π
My SD card died last week and I had to reinstall and restore from a snapshot. Since then, I've had some issues with my Xiaomi temp / water sensors. I'm running Raspbee with deCONZ v 5.3.5, Phoscon gateway v 2.05.75 .
At first, I had one sensor showing up, but now none do. When I go to add a sensor, it never connects. I'm wondering if maybe there's an issue with the gateway and the Pi settings? I did modify the config file as directed. The first question - how can I ensure that the Raspbee is configured and functioning properly?
Home Assistant 0.111.3
yes
hmm. not sure then. Someone else who runs deCONZ might
I was going to install 64bit, but the install guide recommended 32.
yeah if you want the GPIO on the pi, 32 is the way to go
Hi i seem to have some issues with Almond (1.0.1) and Home Assistant Supervised (0.111.3) hass does not seem to be able to autodetect the intergration and most of the links on the almond page do not seem to work. am i doing something totally wrong or has something changed that would break this (never tried it)
Is there a way to run the configurator from the add-on store in standalone mode? I never use the left side with all of the HA stuff. I run hassio with hassOS and my installation type is Home Assistant.

@glacial copper managed to fix it by using ```almond:
type: local
host: http://core-almond:3001
Most the links on the ingress proxy pages are still broken tho
are there any documented examples on using node-red-contrib-home-assistant-websocket ?

https://i.imgur.com/n9foUB7.png https://i.imgur.com/HgWiyf6.png how do i get this to turn on both speakers not just one.
sometimes it will recognize the command and sometimes it will not. i setup an automation to turn the left on when the right comes on and the the left off when the right comes on.
however almond fails to recognize the same command that works sometimes.
is anyone able to help me with my duckdns addon? it stopped working in the last update and I've looked at the docs but can't figure out what's happened
I keep getting myurl.duckdns.org sent an invalid response
@raven tinsel you did a Grafana update 14days ago (to 7.0.3) but didn't push a release.
I also noticed that the link in the changelog ( https://discord.me/hassioaddons ) is no longer valid.
oh wait the link works in the browser
Just tested the discord link, it works.
The grafana would be correct. It isn't tested yet.
I don't release add-ons without testing them
Alright, 7.0.2 has a nasty crash that got fixed. I'll be patient then π
@raven tinsel did you recently test Almond?
i cant seem to be able to get to Amond its pages
Almond to hass started working only after i manually added the config
but the Almond pages are 404
the links go to /apps /devices /conversation
@raven tinsel made a irc bot plugin to speak with Almond true hass (sorry realise this is a bit offtopic)

Having issues getting nginx proxy manager ssl working if anyone feels like helping out!
What's the issue? π
Basically, can't get nginx to actually create certificates
Got the addon ui up and running just fine, but I think I've done something wrong with ports
Found this which looks similar and everyone suggested port forwarding as the cause of problems: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-nginx-proxy-manager/issues/69
Are you using the NGINX add-on or standalone NGINX install? Assuming the add-on, the docs say you must have the cert created before starting NGINX?
Could be wrong but the documentation for that add-on says you must have a certificate before you can start the add-on. This would seem to be what the error message is saying (no such file or directory)
Ah sorry I thought you were running the SSL one
Yeah, this one is a bit different. Thought the error might be a fairly universal one but i guess not π
The installation of this add-on is pretty straightforward and not different in comparison to installing any other Home Assistant add-on.
Documentation guide:
Ensure you are running the MariaDB add-on. This add-on is required to use the Nginx Proxy Manager add-on as it uses the database services provided.
Search for the "Nginx Proxy Manager" add-on in the Supervisor add-on store and install it.
Start the "Nginx Proxy Manager" add-on
Check the logs of the "Nginx Proxy Manager" add-on to see if everything went well.
Click the "OPEN WEB UI" button and login using: admin@example.com / changeme
Forward port 80 and 443 from your router to your Home Assistant machine.
Enjoy the add-on!
Does my port forward seem ok? Not sure if I've done it right but I've used a different external port than 443?
Not sure if I can just set a different port (in this case I've used 444) and redirect it to 443 internally.
I don't know much about this add-on never used it, but whats the difference in the port 82 and port 81 (entrance and web interface ports)?
Yeah, all good
81 is UI
82 is just what I'm using instead of port 80 (blocked by isp)
Not sure if that's how you're meant to use port forwarding with nginx, but if 80 and 443 are blocked I figure it's the only way to set it up?
It looks like the certificate is renewing OK according to the logs but when NGINX tries to start it cannot find the file. Can you check the contents of the directory: /etc/letsencrypt/live/npm-10/
There is no letsencrypt folder that I can see
Did you previously have a letsencrypt folder from an old install?
That has since been deleted?
Not sure :/ I was using DuckDNS which has a letsencrypt certificate, but pretty sure it was in a different directory
Might not be anything on my end I guess
Guess the problem with ui-addons is there's less you can do to fix it aha
I'm just wondering if the letsencrypt directory has been deleted and it cannot save the certificate because the directory doesn't exist. Just a guess
Yeah, the proxy manager doesn't mention needing any additional LetsEncrypt stuff, but maybe I'll look into that.
My thinking was that it couldn't find any cert at the directory because it failed to get created (ie. problem creating the cert). Which becomes a big issue when it goes to look for it?
Guess I'll keep messing around with it aha. Don't suppose there's any other alternative nginx addons that use the command line for HassOS?
Sorry to drag you in @raven tinsel , but does the Nginx Proxy Manager addon require an ssl to be created externally before the plugin will work? from the documentation it looks like the only req's are port forwards on the router and MariaDB addon.
I just realised, I think the ports you are using won't work, for certbot (letsencrypt) to run it requires port 80 at the moment.
Have you tried it with port 80 and 443 directly just to see?
Hmm, that would make sense. But if my ISP has publicly blocked 80 & 443 what are my options?
I did try, but I'll check it again π
Then you would need to use the letsencrypt DNS renewal instead of the HTTP renewal. You can use the DNS renewal option which requires you create a txt record but this is a manual process at the moment and probably won't work with the standard proxy manager, but looks like you could use it with the SSL proxy manager.
Nope, no luck. Double checked with this online tool and it says port 80 is blocked. https://networkappers.com/tools/open-port-checker
I would say this add-on will not be for you, try the DNS based challenge if you can
So where should I go to set all that up? The LetsEncrypt addon?
Yeah, ok. Fair call hehe. I assume thats in the LetsEncrypt addon
The DNS challenge looks to be supported in the LetsEncrypt addon π
Are you using DuckDNS as your DNS provider? Looks like you might need to switch to Cloudflare as it is supported for DNS challenges
Sorry to drag you in @raven tinsel , but does the Nginx Proxy Manager addon require an ssl to be created externally before the plugin will work? from the documentation it looks like the only req's are port forwards on the router and MariaDB addon.
@wheat shadow Not really relevant anymore as it seems, but for future reference, it has certbot build in, so it takes care of that for you.
Cheers π
Hi all, i'm trying to uninstall a local addon using the command ha ad uninstall local_Test it doesn't work, how can i remove that addon from the supervisor page?
Go to the Supervisor page... select the addon... click uninstall?
sure.... if it worked i wouldn't be here to ask for help
this might be a silly question, but if I have influxdb running, is there any point in using mariaDB for my recorder? I like the logbook, and being able to see a days worth of use when I check more info. But not sure if I need mariaDB to do that
Hi, may i ask you whether somebody knows what has happened recently, with hassos/docker, because i have got my own hass addons written in python3 and they stopped to install complaining about missing pip3 command. Everything worked fine until i decided to reinstall the addon. I'm running it on rPi zero W.
Did you remove the pip3 package from your install?
@sharp bison posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/B5hWV8fnQx/
It seems to me that the python is not installed.... I'm a bit desperate, because it worked fine and out of sudden it fails to start....
Not sure of any of your system.setup/os but try installing the pip3 package
I use the HassOs downloaded from the main web page....
@weary stratus is it still in the /addons directory?
@sharp bison you might try #devs_add-ons-archived
Does anyone know a way to change the site an addon redirects to? My issue is I installed the unifi addon, but for some reason when I lanuch the addon it brings me to my Verizon login page, instead of the unifi login page
I would like it to go to localhost instead
https://i.imgur.com/CsoXSxG.png - any help I cannot get almond to be consistant and active anything i create
@weary stratus Yes it is in the addon directory.
has anyone had issues with the upload feature of "file editor"? ive tried uploading small files to test my funky storage setup but after i click upload it does nothing
@weary stratus is it still in the /addons directory?
@sly kindle no I removed it
Have you rebooted the whole system since doing this?
Yes
maybe put it back in the /addons folder, install it, then uninstall it, remove from addons folder
Ok, I named it in uppercase... it that a problem?
hi guys, any issue with latest nodered addon and its dashboard? i added a text node and deployed, went to http://192.168.14.78:1880/endpoint/ui and it says "waiting for available socket"
and there's no info about dashboard loaded on /endpoint/ui in logs as in the past... but dashboard is installed, nodes are there to be used...
Hi all,I have an issue with duckdns add-on. I have set up port forwarding on my router (external 443 to internal 8123), set up duckdns correctly (both at duckdns.org and in HA), but I still can't connect through my chosen domain - I need to enter through https though. Any tips? The HA runs in Docker on a Dell Wyse terminal.
How can you confidently state you've set it up correctly if it's not working? π
there are no error messages in duckdns log
it refreshes every 5 minutes and says it's ok π
Can you access your HA internally via IP address?
yes, but only through https
Can you access it externally with your external IP address?
Can you access it externally with your external IP address?
@cunning wolf checking it now
also check 443 https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
@sly kindle both ports 443 and 8123 are closed at my IP address
that's no good
That's probably your problem. Forward them to your HA host.
When I say probably, I mean definitely π
I set up port forwarding for my HA device from 443 external to 8123 internal
how should I set them up then?
If it was set up correctly and HA was listening, it wouldn't say it's closed.
could be
is there a way to find out?
Call them π
have you ever forwarded ports before using HA?
no
Call them π
@cunning wolf If I knew them, I would π I'm renting the place
Ja pierdole π¦

It's going to suck if it's number 2 π
@sly kindle thanks!
It's going to suck if it's number 2 π
@cunning wolf Apparently it's not, but it sucks anyway π
Yeah. That would've been the option have zero control over. At least if it's your ISP, you could try to get in touch.
Do I understand correctly that if I add the DuckDNS Add-on that I DO NOT need to also add the Let's Encrypt add-on? I've read a lot of varying information, and am not 100% clear.
Anyone here using the plex server add-on? I'm wondering how i can access the plex server filesystem to add media to my library and to add plex add-ons.
@green heath Yes, the DuckDNS addon should be enough
Thanks!
does anyone happen to have an example mqtt discovery config I could try? I am trying to get rtl-sdr devices and create discoverable devices
@rotund thistle You'll get more help with integrations over in #integrations-archived π
@hollow crater posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/Htdz3fTQ5S/
I do have a PPPoE type of internet connection and I'm trying to set up remote access. Do I need to take any extra steps for proper port forwarding? The usual setup for duckdns add-on does not work...
can anyone explain to me why HACS is not an add-on downloadable within home assistant?
hi guys, i cant' get the nodered dashboard to appear,,, always a blank page... looking at source, there's stuff in there, but nothing displayes on browser... any suggestion?
@tardy apex https://hacs.xyz/docs/faq/addons
It feels like it is an add-on though, and it does not handle add-ons, it handles custom components. Its an add on the manage custom components. am i missing something? :S
It's an integration
Not a add-on
Big difference in how they operate, and who can use it
Hey, with the simple DHCP server, does it allow you to list the devices connected on a dashboard?
Be careful, a DHCP Server doesn't know who's connected. It knows how has asked for a IP and when. Set a low lease time can help you but can also a problem. If you really wanna know your devices connected to your network, you need intelligent switches and a router providing more infos
I use mikrotik everywhere and can "See" it all
Figured as much. I'm thinking about replacing my ISP router at some point, I'll have to look for a decent one to get some HA integration
Have a look at mikrotik :-) be careful, it is a mighty one and you need to configure much
And it's quite cheap, in my opinion
I don't mind the configuring part, so long as it's not purely coding and there's some webUI just to make it a little easier
π
Thanks
I can't get HACS installed in Home Assistant.
Does anyone have an idea why I can't add them to integrations?
The files are as written in the right place and in the good folder.
Local tts: I've seen quite a bit of recent talk about Local TTS options in HomeAssistant. If you run Home-Assistant All-In-One (Previously Hassio), you've probably realized that there's not really any out-of-the-box options. There is however a working solution using a custom Home-Assistant Add-On + a HACS integration: see here for a quick tutorial on how i have it working on an All-In-One install: https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/24749#issuecomment-646670808
Hey guys, when I try and install adguard home addon, it says error bad gateway. How do I fix this?
you get an error while installing adguard or when you run in a trying to view in UI?

address already in use
And then this restarts all over again
You already have something set up on that port.
But ive changed that
Don't just blindly change things. Find out what else you have operating on that port.
Ok, could it just be other add ons or something else?
Given port 53 is for DNS, it seems likely you have multiple DNS addons installed.
Thats weird, I didnt think I did, unless theres multiple uses for an add-on
I have adguard home, file editor, samba share, aircast, mqtt broker, spotify connect, app daemon 4, and node red
I tried a while ago making a DNS server on one of my other home servers, but its not on the same IPas home assistant. Coult that be the problem?
Another home server? Virtual machine on the same host?
Yeah
Can you stop it for a while and try restarting AdGuard on HA?
But I thought they were different IPs so it didnt matter
Sure
Still says address already in use
Then you need to find out what else is using it
@lapis radish something on your OS, which isn't HassOS I assume
Different ips in the container, but it bind to a port from os to forward the data to the adguard container. This fails. AS cogneato says, some dns Server on your os or another container with DNS....
I'm trying to install 3rd party addon using supervisor GUI. I'm getting this error "[supervisor.docker.addon] Can't build local/armv7-addon-ruuvitag:0.3.0: The command '/bin/ash -o pipefail -c apk add --no-cache python build-base yarn git' returned a non-zero code: 1"
Where is the script originating from? /bin/ash doesn't look right...
or is it actually supposed to use /bin/ash? π
/bin/ash is correct for Hassio
ok, any idea how to get verbose output of that installation?
You'll want to ask in #330990055533576204
I'd say check with the dev of this addon
Or that π
mmm.. don't actually need that addon right now as same functionality is already running, just not managed by supervisor and not dockerised
so time to shoot message and see if it ever gets reply π
Iβm trying to use ESPHome, but it wonβt detect the usb. Does anyone know what I should do. Ive already restarted the add on switched cables, switched ports and tried two nodemcus
Worth noting that my wyze hub works
You mean the ESPHome addon can't detect an ESP device connected via USB?
What device are you trying to flash?
Itβs a nodemcu 8266
Iβll try that. I know I pressed it at one point but not sure when.
When should I do that in the process?
I've not actually used a NodeMCU but I'd guess... plug in, briefly press 'flash', then see what the addon says.
Got it, Iβll give it a shot thanks!
You should get a dropdown listing devices, like so: http://prntscr.com/t2zmsp
(that's not an ESP device but it happens to be connected right now π )
Cool
It works! Thanks!
I don't understand the documentation for nanoleaf
It say to enable component discovery, but I don't see nanoleaf as been part of the list of compartible devices
is there a way to change the url that appdaemon uses to open the webui?
Is there a way to run the configurator from the add-on store in standalone mode? I never use the left side with all of the HA stuff. I run hassio with hassOS and my installation type is Home Assistant.
sure, add a port in the configuration section
anyone using "template-entity-row" ? I use the following code: https://pastebin.com/MGqcR2E0
it evaluates great when I edit the card, but not automatically. What am I missing ?
Custom cards aren't addons. Try in #frontend-archived π
sorry, moving there
I am trying to setup a group of zigbee devices in zigbee2mqtt that then show up as a single device (or perhaps entity) in Home Assistant.
I have figured out how to define the group in zigbee2mqtt. But on adding the group to Home Assistant following the example at https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/integration/home_assistant.html I get an error when I Reload Groups.
My config in Home Assistant groups.yaml
garden_sconce_lamps:
name: Garden Sconce Lamps
- platform: mqtt
schema: json
name: garden_sconce_lamps
command_topic: "zigbee2mqtt/garden_sconce_lamps/set"
state_topic: "zigbee2mqtt/garden_sconce_lamps"
brightness: true
Error message when doing Check Configuration:
Invalid config for [group]: value should be a string for dictionary value @ data['group']['garden_sconce_lamps']['entities']. Got None. (See /config/configuration.yaml, line 17).
Ok - I've figured out where I went wrong. This needs to go in configuration.yaml as it isn't a group as far as Home Assistant is concerned. The lamps are grouped in zigbee2mqtt, and Home Assistant needs to be told there is a light entity in its configuration.
Hey I'm having trouble with influxdb using up a lot of swap. While it typically sits at 60% without influx running, as soon as I get it going I max out and am at the ceiling for most of the time. Is this just a result of running influxdb on a pi 3+? Or is there something I can do about it?
Hi all, I'm about to boil my head π‘ to get some relief from days of struggling to get Mosquitto, ha and an ESP8266 device working ! Stupid thing is that I had it working a year or so ago. Basically, no matter what I try I can't get the Mosquitto broker to add my single ESP8266 switch. I've watched countless ha/mqtt videos, scoured posts just about everywhere. Would someone PLEASE take a look at my code/configs and offer some pointers? Here are my config files: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/jXThhKhTGv/
Hi @raven tinsel, back again to say thank you for your YouTube video you released on how to set up and install WireGuard. It's running perfectly! I even managed to get WireGuard working on an older Mac running macOS 10.13.
π Thanks @chrome tusk π
I just noticed you were using IDE, but I noticed it's being deprecated. Has a suitable replacement for Raspberry Pi been released yet?
@chrome summit I'd suggest asking on the ESP8266 server if you're actually trying to code one. Alternatively, I'd recommend looking into ESPHome and using that instead - ESPHome integrates well with HA without having to do any custom code.
@cunning wolf Thank you for your reply. I was getting to the point of forgetting mqtt, despite having it all working previously; I guess alot has changed in the time since. I think I wil try ESPHome if it is well integrated. Thanks for the advice.
Is there any way to get the SQLite Web add-on to load a database that's not in /config/? I really need to access the matrix.db and cannot find any other way to do it.
Hey, im considering makeing a zeek/snort container/addon but im not sure how to make a tab of all traffic going to my hassio pi
Hi, I just finished setting up a new instance of HA on Ubuntu via docker. When i try to install an add-on it say "Failed to install addon, Unknown Error, see logs". I don't see anything in the logs related to this...
@unreal shale supervisor logs, not home assistant logs
@covert arch how does the grafana query look?
@cobalt ice
I use the default glances dashboard
https://grafana.com/grafana/dashboards/2387
@covert arch You did select the glances db when importing that dashboard right? Only other difference I can see is for influx query, tutorial uses localhost.load and you have homeassistant.load.
Otherwise someone with more knowledge needs to help π
yep, I configured prefix: homeassistant in glances addon, will try using the default localhost now but it shouldn't matter :/ and yes the glances db was selected
grafana (using the preset) might be configured for localhost. you could change it there but has to be done for every graph i think.
yep seems like it, graphs show up when using localhost.. thanks

even though it would be selectable..
Hi all. Anyone else had their Meteorologisk weather break. I am seeing 203 which indicates an outdated API. I tried to delete the integration and re-add it, but no joy.
hi, where i could post to ask an evolution to solaredge API add-on ? (need some more request to get auto-consumption field) ?

Hello! I am trying to use the mini-graph-card, but when using group_by date, I only get the last day values. Using hour instead shows the correct data.
Here is the config:
type: 'custom:mini-graph-card'
aggregate_func: last
entities:
- entity: sensor.fred_daily_milk_consumption
group_by: date
hours_to_show: 120
name: Consommation de lait de FrΓ©dΓ©rique
cache: false
show:
graph: bar
icon: false
labels: true
unit: Onces
It shows 0 for all days except the current day where I get correct value
I am using the latest version
This is a #frontend-archived question
Please use https://paste.ubuntu.com/ or https://www.hastebin.com/ to share code or logs.
When you get to #frontend-archived , of course. Not here π
that too
ha ok I searched for "mini-graph-card" and saw discussions here π
No, cards aren't addons.
Anyone run into an issue where ESPHome wont load in Home Assistant?
Gets stuck at loading nginx in the log
Been there for over a hour. It's weird that its getting stuck. I don't get any other logs from anywhere to give me any sort of a clue where to look or what to do next. I've already removed the addon and reinstalled. Even tried going to the beta, still same results.

@harsh mortar Can't say I've ever seen that one before, did you get it working? Did you check the docker container logs?
I'm starting with Node Red. Using the latest version and added the Node red Addon no problem. When I try and add an entity though I see this "Attention: This node requires Node-RED custom integration to be installed in Home Assistant for it to function." in the entity editor page. Feels like something did not install correctly or is there other setup I need to do. The docs page doesn't point me at anything so cannot work out why this is there.

@modern hound That message says you need to install this add-on: https://github.com/zachowj/hass-node-red for it to function. It's available through HACS if you use that.
I am trying to find a way to cast music from Spotify to both a google home speaker group and to a rasp pi running music box at the same time. I have gotten both the google home speaker group and the rasp pi music box to be detected in home assistant and I have grouped them together. I can address this group using the text to speech bar and I can hear the output play back across all the devices in sync. I now just need to find a way to play Spotify across this group. I have installed the Spotify connect addon and the Spotify integration. I can see 'Home assistant' listed as a speaker i can output to in Spotify however, when i select it i can not then hear the music, once i plug headphones into the rasp pi running home assistant i can then hear the audio, does anyone know of a way i can output this audio to the speakers previously mentioned instead of the built in 3.5mm jack. I have tried changing this option in the Spotify connect GUI however i only have the two option 'default' and 'build in audio' any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
how do I come up with a good openzwave security 16byte key
Well so Im following the documentation, but im concerned the 16byte key I generate, wont match the zwave network key that was made for me with the integration.
@crisp minnow Did you try restarting the add-on?
how can I enable the collectd configuration for the influxdb addon?
@bold spire I've looked at all logs that I can find and Can not find any useful information.
Hi guys, I'm using Home Assistant Add-on: Mosquitto broker I don't find settings related to websockets. It doesn't support that?
@unborn lichen posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/wJPhTRNkCv/
I must have badly formatted my question on MQTT add-onπ HassBot decided it was all codeπ https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/wJPhTRNkCv/
It decided it was too long. It doesn't care what's code and what's not.
It also shared the link already, you don't need to repeat it.
What's your config for the mqtt integration?
default with one username/ password added
Share it (you can hide the password)
Please use https://paste.ubuntu.com/ or https://www.hastebin.com/ to share code or logs.
And if you're worried about putting passwords in your config...
Rather than putting sensitive information (passwords, locations, etc) into your configuration, you can store them in secrets to make sharing easier.
Okay... that's your config for the addon. Now share the config for the integration, like I asked.
It's the bit you should have added to configuration.yaml
OK - that's likely the problem - I though it was all done through the UI now. I'll go and learn some more. Thanks for the pointer
https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/mqtt/
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/mqtt/
https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/categories/mqtt/
Second one is the one you need to set up... but reading the others is a good idea if you're new to MQTT and HA.
You can use the UI, just make sure you've done it right.
You'll end up with something like this, where the address of your broker matches the location of the addon (probably the same IP address as your HA), and your username and password match:
mqtt:
username: !secret mqtt_broker_username
password: !secret mqtt_broker_password
broker: 192.168.1.21
discovery: true
discovery_prefix: homeassistant```
Thanks again. The only setting showing on the Integration page is discovery option. I'll go back to the configuration.yaml route
@modern hound That message says you need to install this add-on: https://github.com/zachowj/hass-node-red for it to function. It's available through HACS if you use that.
@bold spire Many thanks, I had thought it would be embedded in the HASSIO style way of installing now. I will go and give that a try. Maybe something went slightly wrong when I installed Node Red.
@modern hound it's the specific HA entity node you selected which requires the extra custom integration
Is there a way to run the configurator from the add-on store in standalone mode? I never use the left side with all of the HA stuff. I run hassio with hassOS and my installation type is Home Assistant.
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/any-way-to-remove-the-left-panel-in-hass-configurator-on-a-hassio-installation/135828
Using either Putty or WinSCP I get connection refused from HA (with either of the SSH addon's) I see the following in the HA console:
βnf_conntrack: default automatic helper assignment has been turned off for security reasons and CT-based firewall rule not fund. Use the iptables CT target to attach helpers instead.β Ping works. Any suggestions?
@dusty mica When you say "standalone" mode, you just mean accessing it via a separate port in your browser?
if so, yes. Just enter a port in the Configuration section of the add-on
@viscid orchid Would it just be βport: 81239β without quotes?
Itβs just a text field, so itβs give it a number
Itβs in the network section below the bigger config box
Thereβs something Iβm not understanding.
Hereβs my config for the file editor βconfiguratorβ add-on. dirstfirst: false enforce_basepath: true ignore_pattern: ssh_keys: [] I donβt see a network section. Are we talking about the same thing?
Itβs just below that
What version of HA are you using?
Scroll the screen a bit?
0.111.4
Itβs literally just below that text box
That is the only part on the screen, thereβs nothing to scroll down to. I did look in the other tabs and am not seeing anything.π
I wish I can show you what I see
Please use imgur or other image sharing web sites, and share the link here.
Anything?
One second I havenβt used imgur beforeπ€¦ββοΈ
You see my image?
Ya, thatβs not showing on mine
ah, that might be from a legacy installation
I see this in the docs:
Known issues and limitations
This add-on can only be used via Ingress and has no direct access.
so there ya go
I probably set a port and it's now confused
I haven't tried to access it that way in quite some time and just looked for the port
ha, I hit "reset to default" on that section and it immediately disappeared π
so, in summary, no
apologies for the misguidance
Ok, so in the documentation of the non add-on configurator I saw that you can remove the hass api by running it is βstand-alone β more. So thereβs not any stand alone mode in the add-on then?
you can find the container separately and run it that way
it just wouldn't be the addon
this seems to point you in the right direction: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/cipi1k/need_help_with_ha_and_hassconfigurator_in_docker/
Thanks!
you may need to poke around a bit to see if that's the latest docker image
Iβll go try that out! Thanks for the help
@viscid orchid I was able to get it working and was able to change the setting that I needed to change! Thank you so much for that last link!!!
Earlier: Using either Putty or WinSCP I get connection refused from HA (with either of the SSH addon's) I see the following in the HA console:
βnf_conntrack: default automatic helper assignment has been turned off for security reasons and CT-based firewall rule not fund. Use the iptables CT target to attach helpers instead.β Ping works. Running HA under VirtualBox. Any suggestions? Anyway to install an older version of SSH & Web Terminal ?
how can I tell if motion eye can use hardware acceleration with hass OS?
I installed Mosquitto from the Addon browser, when starting it and looking at the logs it references the mosquitto.conf file being located at /etc/mosquitto.conf. When I browse to /etc/ I see no mosquitto.conf. Is there something I am missing?
Itβs in its own container. Youβre not supposed to mess with it
Ah, got it.
I'm trying to follow a guide where it says to set up a bridge to the MQTT broker on the energy bridge by adding
connection dte address <IP_OF_BRIDGE>:2883 remote_username admin remote_password trinity clientid homeassistant-1 try_private false start_type automatic topic # both 0
Where would I put that?
A bridge to the broker? Then it doesn't sound like you want to set that up on the broker.
Your wording suggests it's something you do on the energy bridge.
The docs for the addon do let you specify additional conf files, so it does support that if you need it
setup a bridge to the MQTT broker on the energy bridge
Ah
Going to try the custom config.
Alright that got it connecting! Had to create dte.conf in /share/mosquitto/. Which I had already done but didn't realize I had to set the flag in the configuration to true so it sees the custom file.
IF i installed duckdns, changed its config and also changed home url and internal url do i need to do more? I cant connect to my new url
ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED
no one?
Be patient π
π
How are you trying to connect? What's the address and port? Are you connecting from inside or outside your home network?
Inside but its also giving this error in the log files

Okay... check your ports are open. https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
they are open
It worked before
its just a clean install
Something fucked up happend last week and i just needed to start over π¦
Don't assume anything please. Have you checked your ports today?
What ports are open and how are they forwarded?
And what results do you get from this? https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest

There we go then. You don't have a valid SSL cert for your domain
Everything else sounds okay. Try setting up the addon again. See if you're getting any errors in the addon's logs.

Hmm, odd. And the address it mentioned there matches the one you're trying to access?
Yeah, it can't hurt to try. If that works, maybe delete your certs and start again.
Alright
@cedar rover posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/KpBhWPCg2d/
Yeah, there's something funky going on there if it does the whole challenge and claims to have created a cert.
I don't use that addon, so hang tight and someone else might jump in.
i hope so its driving me crazy for the past days π
Hi everyone!!!!
I am running the vmdk virtual appliance of home assistant core. I am trying to install HACS but the samba addon doesnt start and I have no ssh to virtual appliance's file system access. I only have access to the config files on text editor visual studio code. Am I missing something here? Any help would appreciated it!
@tawdry sluice it won't start if you don't configure a password
ohhhhhh...I will try again. Thank you!
Where does the password get configured? I dont see where.
Never mind
its was in the configuration tab
the layout change tripped me up
thank you!!!
hey guys im super new to home assistant, this is my 1st project. is anyone willing to help me get my Adguard working properly? i think im almost there!
Better to ask about whatβs not working so that others can help
I've been messing around with my networking settings trying to get adguard to work properly, but now it looks like my wifi isnt working properly!
I use the Homeatic add-on and get this issue
One of the Homematic devices is not responding.
This may have various reasons:
there is no network connection
the power supply to the CCU is interrupted
at least one device of the HomeMatic CCU is down
Please check the network connection and the power supply to the HomeMatic CCU. If necessary, restart your HomeMatic CCU```
An internal error was detected in the service software. The diagnostics are being emailed to the service system administrator (root).
what should I do now?
in Gorcy when i try and add a product it gives me an error 404

Hi i just installed the adb server addon and added my tvβs ip in the devices config. I added this:
media_player:
- platform: androidtv
host: 192.168.2.10
name: "Sony Bravia TV"
adb_server_ip: 127.0.0.1
adb_server_port: 5037
To my configuratiom.yaml but its not working
If i use adb connect 192.168.2.10 in cmd on my pc it does connect (also the tv asks perms which it doesnt with the hassio addon) does anyone know what i am doing wrong?
'not working' doesn't tell us much.
If you're having problems with your updates to your configuration:
- Check the troubleshooting steps
- Check your log file - remembering you may need to set logger to
infoordebug - Explain what the problem you're having is - sharing configuration, errors, and logs

hi, anyone knows, how to connect DeConz to node red?
hello, i'm new on HA and i want to add a component which has been newly updated on Github - yesterday - (solaredge - branch dev) i have already installed solaredge with Integration but this is the "old" version , and i want to test this new release of the component - i don't know how ? thanks for help
Hi everyone, I have problems with a hue dimmable light that starts in "On" after power failure. Apparently, it is a bug in the deCONZ GUI that prevents you from setting the attribute via the interface (write failed). It should be possible to get around by editing the general.xml file which should be under / usr / share / deCONZ / zcl / but cannot find that folder. I run deCONZ as an addon to Hass.IO. I have tried looking in the mapping of the data folder in Docker but there it isnβt. I have also browsed the hassio directory in terminal with no success. Anyone know where I can find the file?
How do i change deconz IP adress? its on another subnet and i cant get any valid api key
Hi Everyone. I'll looking to start a conversation with anyone that can assist in explaining MQTT brokers and bridges to me.
I'm new to HA and MQTT and struggling to find info that explains how to set it up in HA.
PS. I'm running HASSOS on a VM installed via OVA/VMDK
My goal is to connect a smart TV that is running a Broker to HA.
All the info i found thus far seems like i need to edit mosquitto.conf that i can't find anywhere.
Even if there is some form of a file structure document, that will also already help.
@bold canyon the tv is running a broker? Or it's an mqtt client?
I suppose you could point HA to this broker through the integrations page
that is what i'm trying to do (not sure how thou)
This is the link/doc i got to and they talking about setting up a bridge
and to setup a bridge it would seem i need to change/add/update the mosquitto.conf but can't seem to find it anywhere.
what i'm trying now is to add the info to Supervisor > mosquitto broker > configuration. Not sure if that is the right place, but seems like it could be
If you're supposed to add files for the addon to read, some addons look for files in the /share folder on your HA host.
Here's your steps, @bold canyon : https://community.home-assistant.io/t/solved-mqtt-over-internet-aka-how-to-set-up-cloudmqtt-bridge-with-hassio-mosquitto-broker/49939/8
Googling is hard...
@cunning wolf thank you for the link. Will check it out now
What goes into the file is probably specific to your device... but that post looks promising for putting the file somewhere Mosquitto can get to it.
@cunning wolf Thank you very much for that post, looks like it worked. I was expecting to find mosquitto/mosquitto.conf under the share folder and when /share was empty i assumed it's the wrong place.
Now just to sort out the certificate issues
anyone got ultrasonic sensor sr04t to work with esphome on esp32 nodemcu?
the info i got from google are all esp8266
its only giving me timeout msg
i am trying to setup ESP in HA, using https://www.juanmtech.com/how-to-get-started-with-esphome-and-sonoff/ this guide. He is portforward some port in the router. i maybe stuped, but what is the ip of the ESP, using usb in to RPI. is it the same as RPI, wont the be ip conflikt
u mean esphome?
yes, the guide showing i need to portforward
mmm maybe i dont need to open one. I just testing to upload some random sensor, and its sems to be working anyway. EDIT: no i cant find the ip:/
ip of which device?
the ip to esp, i cant detect in HA
its just offline and when tryint to upload i get: Cant find ip adress
what device are you trying to connect? have you flash your device with esphome?
you will not be able to flash OTA unless you flash your device manually first
if you have flashed the device then HA should detect it automatically or you can go to your router settings to find out the ip
will look in to i more later, need to go to work, thanks for the help:D have a good day
Hi folks, I'm running the Mosquitto Add-In. I want to configure this to bridge all homeassistant mqtt events out to another mqtt broker. I can connect to mosquitto locally, and see all my events (using stateStream), but I do not know how to configure the Mosquitto Add-In for a Bridge setup. I don't see the mostquitto config file available to the add-in docker container
I can see mosquitto.conf in /usr/share/hassio/addons/core/mosquitto/data from the host running Home Assistant. But the volumes mounted to the AddOn don't include that path
Should I be modifying the mosquitto.conf within the AddOn Container, located in /etc/mosquitto/ (if so - won't that config be lost if the container is replaced?)
Use the search. This is a question that comes up all the time.
I just tried to install Samba; installation done and configured, but it doesn't pop up on my windows PC
(workgroup is the same) (yes I pressed start, and it's running without errors
)
thanks mono - and apologies, I had been searching the forums, not here. I'm testing it now.
Boom! and I have messages on the remote broker ... thanks @cunning wolf
i have the wireguard add-on installed and using it as a client to connect to a wireguard "server"

i'm just getting connection refused, so h-a isn't listening on that interface
hello. im trying to get rhasspy installed and after pulling the image, get an error about mkdir: /<PATH_TO>: Read-only file system

hi there
I bought a sonoff mini 2 ways
its possible to integrate with HA without changing the firmware?
Your pastebin has expired. Set it without an expiry in future π

i will next time i guess setting it to a day wasnt enough
in Gorcy when i try and add a product it gives me an error 404
https://pastebin.com/Tx7ehYSE
It even tells you which file is missing. Have you checked to see if it's there?
i installed it via the addon panel i didnt realise i had to do more?
Have you checked to see if the file is there?
let me check
stand by trying to figure out how to access that part of the file system
Yessir
If it's an addon, maybe you can't get to it easily. Probably easiest to uninstall and reinstall.
It says there's a missing file. Give it a chance to install the file.
yeah i tired that reinstalling and it didnt seem to help
Refresh your browser cache and try using it again.
Then log a bug on the addon's page.
sent then a message on there discord waiting there reply
I have just installed MQTT, made a light connect to the MQTT on the home assistant (the connection also came thru in the console, tasmota, ... Installed). But the light doesn't show up as a device. How do I set this up manually?
If you're using Tasmota, you might want to look into auto-discovery (SetOption19).
It only goes to 16 for me.
I use a template for LSC rgblight
Oh, got it. It isn't in that list. But only via console.
Yesterday I tried putting Tasmota on a light, but all my lights (3) where on one psychical switch and all went in to pairing mode when flashing tasmota.
After that, they all went off. But only one of them got the panel created online.
Now, when I try to turn the other 2 on, they are unresponsive.
Did I break those lights?
Also a new SSID: vtrust-recovery is showing up?
anyone got ultrasonic sensor sr04t to work with esphome on esp32 nodemcu?
the info i got from google are all esp8266
its only giving me timeout msg
@leaden nest If i am not mistaken, I dont think you can flash all at once. you will have to do it one by one.. anyways.. thats how i did it
Got them back to life: they didn't respond anymore, but where still 'online'. So I was able to flash it again.
goog
good
i wish someone could point me to a working yaml for ultrasonic sr04t to work in esphome
@jovial thicket what does your current configuration look like?
where can i paste?
Hi guys, I'm having problem to setup the deconz add-on with raspbee. Anyone available to help me?
@astral forge Whats the problem?
@bold spire , I had to reinstall my home assistant from the scratch on a new SD card. Now, the deconz addon is not finding the lights and sensors.
I've already included the lines on config.txt
Additionally, it's not holding the firmware upgrade either
Before change the SD card, it was working without problems

Did you try listening for events?
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/deconz/
Specifically:
Navigate to Developer tools->Events. In the section Listen to events add deconz_event and press START LISTENING. All events from deCONZ will now be shown and by pushing your remote button while monitoring the log it should be fairly easy to find the events you are looking for.
I'll try it now
Also do you have the discover entry in your config?
Yes, I do.
And did you re-generate an API key after re-installing?
Please read the configuration section
Nothing appears on phoscon app
That is probably the issue
I usually add the device on the phoscon app and then the integration on HA is easy
However, now there are nothing on phoscon app and is not finding the devices either
Does the app detect the gateway?
yes
And when you try to add a device in the app nothing happens? Do you have the web interface running on your pi?
nothing happens. Yes, the web interface is running
Have you tried moving devices closer to discover them?
/run.sh: line 132: 468 Segmentation fault (core dumped) deCONZ -platform "${PLATFORM}" --auto-connect=1 --dbg-info="${DBG_INFO}" --dbg-aps="${DBG_APS}" --dbg-otau="${DBG_OTAU}" --dbg-zcl="${DBG_ZCL}" --dbg-zdp="${DBG_ZDP}" --upnp=0 --http-port=40850 --ws-port=8081 --dev="${DECONZ_DEVICE}"

Maybe try uninstall and re-install the add-on? Other than that I am not sure
I already tried that π¦
It seems to be any configuration

Did you add the device serial to the config?
Can you try ls -la /dev/serial/by-id/ from the command line
sure
I'll try

10:56:49:691 HTTP Server listen on address 0.0.0.0, port: 40850, root: /usr/share/deCONZ/webapp/
0.0.0.0 ?
Just means its listening on all IP's I think, this is normal
I'll try to change
dtoverlay=pi3-miniuart-bt to dtoverlay=pi3-disable-bt
on config.txt
and completely disable bluetooth
I take it you have tried changing USB ports?
Its serial (raspbee) not usb π¦
Oh! So have you tried this
enable_uart=1
in config.txt?
yes, it is
Hopefully someone with more deconz experience can help
Thank you @bold spire
I have switch from the built in DB to Mariadb. In my yaml file have have db_url: mysql://homeassistant:~xxxx@core-mariadb/homeassistant?charset=utf8 - I can't find out where the db is stored. Search many forums and see many people with similar questions.
@cyan prawn in the container
In what container? How do I find it?
I am looking to find the db file to see the size
I see there is a docker container using ssh. Can I see it with samba?
I'm starting to use motion eye and it's really great, but now I want to have my recordings save. what can I do to have a second external hard drive with hass os for the mtion eye add on?
Node red thing is still annoying. I'm still seeing "Attention: This node requires Node-RED custom integration to be installed in Home Assistant for it to function." despite having loaded HACs, loaded Node-Red addin and also having checked that the correct pallete Item is in place. I still cannot find a way to see any of my HA entities in NodeRed π¦
@cyan prawn install the phpMyAdmin addon
Iβm using WireGuard combined with AdGuard as documented (172.30.32.1 as DNS IP).
I want to filter some content on Kids_Phone and not on Dads_Phone. I canβt see the difference between these two devices in AdGuard because they both show up as the same client in the AdGuard Query Logs.
Hi - I am trying to get the zigbee2mqtt add-on talking to the Mosquitto add-on (not the deprecated built in MQTT server)
So I removed the built in MQTT settings from configuration.yaml and removed it from integrations, then restarted.
After restart, the Integrations page showed the MQTT add-on in discovered integrations, so I configured it.
I am unsure how to configure zigbee2mqtt to use the Mosquitto add-on
This config doesn't seem to work:
mqtt: base_topic: zigbee2mqtt server: 'mqtt://localhost:1883' user: mqtt password: password
What do the logs say when you try to start the addon?
zigbee2mqtt:info 2020-06-27 16:25:10: Connecting to MQTT server at mqtt://localhost:1883 zigbee2mqtt:error 2020-06-27 16:25:20: Not connected to MQTT server!
That's all?
Those are the zigbee2mqtt logs - lots of lines saying Not connected to MQTT server!
Try using the IP address and ignoring the port number: server: 'mqtt://192.168.1.21'
Yep - that seemed to work!
Don't forget, addons run in containers. 'localhost' doesn't mean what you think it means.
Ok - assuming 127.0.01 also wouldn't work
Now I cannot see any of my zigbee devices - either the ones that were there before when using the built in mqtt, or any new ones that have been discovered
You might want to ask over in #zigbee-archived about that. Make sure to tell them you're using z2m.
Ok - thanks
just updated to hassos_rpi4-4.10, to find no VSCode on this build. I searched but couldnt find details... is there info about this? thanks
I have been attempting to setup hadashboard for use on an older tablet of mine - however with darksky getting bought out by apple, I am not able to get a darksky license key allowing me to use the darksky integration, I am wondering if there is a way to use another weather service (e.g openweathermap) with the built in weather panel or if I have to create my own
Meteorologisk institutt (Met.no) stopped working but is working on the currenly build.
Sorry, what do you mean by that?
I assume they mean Dark Sky isn't your only option.
In fact, there are many weather #integrations-archived available. To find out more, go to the appropriate channel.
So let me see if I understand this correctly, In order for the Appdaemon HADashboard (docs: https://appdaemon.readthedocs.io/en/latest/DASHBOARD_INSTALL.html) weather widget to not link into darkskys I should install another weather inegration on the lovelace dashboard?
Having no idea how either AppDaemon or HADashboard work, I have no idea.
But you're continuing to ask in the wrong channel about #integrations-archived π
@twin parrot Looking for help with schedy all I got was ask Robert didn't say which one, are you the one?
<not the one> π’
How do i get conbee 2 to work? I can login, it is connected but it has a completely other subnet so gaining a api key doenst work.
nvm, got it working
how do you get almond to recognize an area
so if i have 2 speakers that have an area named studio how would i activate both?
does almond even really work with HA? Can't really do anything with it that I can tell.
Hi everyone. I am having problems restoring the mariadb add-on when I take a snap shot.
I am getting this as an error: Can't restore origin data: [('/data/tmp/tmp_2nadrbm/data/databases/mariadb.err', '/data/addons/data/core_mariadb/databases/mariadb.err', '/data/tmp/tmp_2nadrbm/data/databases/mariadb.err is a named pipe')]
Anyone have ideas what might be causing this?
I am trying to restore this onto a fresh system. I have tried the exact same computer, a virtualbox, and a different computer - each time mariadb bonks and everything else is fine.
I have a done of data in mariadb - would hate to loose it.
Can somebody please help. I just added zigbee2mqtt and filled in all the necessary info, and from what i can see its running without errors. But how can i see if a devices is paired successfully
hi, how I can install the open mqtt gateway
can someone help?
is this an addon?
or is this intigration installed out of the box on my home assistant?
thanks for everyone who has an answer
That page is just a bunch of examples of MQTT sensors. They're #integrations-archived .
I don't see any mention of a zip file...
If you mean to install OpenMQTTGateway itself... yes, you'll have to install something. Follow their instructions.
To integrate things with HA, you go to #integrations-archived.
how I can install it on my home assistant?
via hacs?
or the official addon store
Do you even know what it is?
yes, I have already use zigbee2mqtt
I need a gateway for 433mhz devices
so I found this option with the open mqtt gateway
What is OpenMQTTGateway? What does it do? All I see if a bunch of firmwares for ESP chips.
All of the devices is says it supports can work with any MQTT broker. You already have one if you're using z2m.
HA communicates with those devices via MQTT using... you guessed it, #integrations-archived!
Put Tasmota/ESPHome on your devices so they can talk to MQTT. Configure HA to read from MQTT. Done.
okay, so my raspberry pi with home assistant and the mosquitto addon is an OpenMQTTGateway?
right?
No...
You saw all those ZIP files, right? All the ones that said 'firmware' in their names?
yes
It's software to go onto the chips of hardware devices...
Nothing to do with HA.
Not HACS. Not addons.
And once those devices talk to your MQTT broker, HA will see them and be able to talk to them.
But since this is nothing to do with HA #add-ons-archived , you either want to ask in #diy-archived about messing with devices or in #integrations-archived about getting HA to see them once they're in MQTT.
I've been searching all morning...does Tor not work with stealth mode on?? Works fine when I have stealth set to false
Anyone know where the editable files live on zwave2mqtt inside of Hassio add on
You'd be better off asking in #zwave-archived
@cunning wolf but itβs an add-on not core
But it's Z-Wave...
You could ask here for general add-ons about anything, or you could ask there where people that use that specific add-on hang out.
Better odds of someone knowing the answer in a more specialised channel.
Ok in general if the add-on is installed with RW capability of the config folder then I can use
/config/doit as a folder?
In general, it's a Docker container with some folder structure. Who knows?
Once you're in, ls to see what's there and poke around.
But if you don't want to guess, ask in #zwave-archived where someone can answer your specific question.
Ok thanks
So where is a good place to get some MQTT and Tasmota help, I have a new Tuya pet feeder I flashed with Tasmota but no existing config for it so trying to learn how to make my own
I'm going to go with 'not in the #add-ons-archived channel' for starters, @cobalt abyss. Even if it were a HA question, it'd probably be more at home in #diy-archived. However, Tasmota has its own Discord, so you'll get better help there: https://discord.gg/Ks2Kzd4
I have samba and ssh working but neither can see the contents of the containers? Specifically I am looking to find the mariadb file.
@cyan prawn still trying to find the size?
Do you have a snapshot?
You could browse a recent snapshot and get an idea of the size.
Or you could use the phpmyadmin add-on and look at the size
I got a question regarding traccar and MariaDB.
My MariaDB log is getting spammed with:
[Warning] Aborted connection 1444 to db: 'traccar' user: 'service' host: '172.30.32.1' (Got an error reading communication packets)
Traccar gives me a 502
I do have a snapshot. Still don't understand why I can't easily see the file size. I just installed hopefully this will let me see the file size. I am trying to reduce writes to the db and file size due to still on a SD memory card. Not easy to see if I am accomplishing anything unless I know what I am starting with.
See it with the phpmyadmin add on. Thanks. I don't understand the rational on hiding this with the normal Samba or SSH tools?
it's not hidden
it's in the container, you are just unaware of how to bash into a container
samba is exposing folder shares
the mariadb isn't in any of those
Where do I learn how to bash into a container
If you connect to the host and use docker commands, you can do this. Or you could use the community repo ssh addon with protection mode off to use docker commands
I have the community ssh addon and with protection off.
a quick test is whether docker ps works
ls
19 directories. Which one has the db file
ls in data gives me options.json secret
I do not
I guess it is hidden. If I do cd databases, then LS I have a similar screen as yours
But this does not show any files sizes
you use ls with options. ls -hal is what I usually go with
THANK YOU! I assume the name is mysql?
mmm...you should be seeing a directory for each database you have
you would then enter the homeassistant one and see the ibd files
I have bookstack, and nginxproxymanager databases as well, for example
so it depends on if you're looking for a grand total of databases, or just the database home assistant is using for states, events, etc
so mariadb doesn't have a main db file?
scroll back up to my screenshot and you'll see bookstack and homeassistant...those are directories
I have homeassistant as well. I have 4 ibd files in it. I assume these are the data bases for Mariadb?
those are specifically for homeassistant...What recorder:is using
so is there one DB file?
just check the size of the directory
du -h homeassistant
or use phpmyadmin instead
you'll see the databases
and tables
Thank you. Need to learn more linux.
What is the proper topic area for discussions around Almond??
"discussions" here in discord depend on someone else running the same thing who happens to also be in the channel π Questions about installing it would be fine here. Actual usage might be better in #voice-assistants-archived .
Or the community forum.
Almond is a little primative and hasn't seen much love over the past year but the project just got a new chunk of funding
@spare depot
Could someone help me troubleshoot Traccar giving me a 502 Bad Gateway - nginx?
Add-on has not started, check the add-on/supervisor logs
I have the recommended settings on both MariaDB and Traccar
MariaDB says : [Warning] Aborted connection 1444 to db: 'traccar' user: 'service' host: '172.30.32.1' (Got an error reading communication packets)
The odd thing is that nothing in my local network uses ip's from the 172 range
those are internal docker network ip addresses
MariaDB Configuration:

I've tried reinstalling MariaDB and Traccar
i installed Home Assistant Add-on: RPC Shutdown and i configured the config but how do i turn it off now and how do i add it to lovelacase
@hot glacier test out the service using developer tools > services
the addon documentation shows how
If that works, then move on to creating an automation for it or otherwise making use of it in lovelace
i dont know i dont get it to work
the services dropdown...find hassio.addon_stdin
i wil try something more
the service data would be addon: core_rpc_shutdown input: test-pc
replace test-pc with the name you configured
oke now i have the good ip but i get this
[18:07:18] INFO: Read alias: main

Does Tor not work with stealth mode on?
@smoky arrow ask in the community addon discord. sent a link
@hot glacier is it an email address as the credentials?
I would go into c:\users on your windows machine and see what it is there
there's a directory for your windows user which has a name. use that
thx i puttet in what it said there but now i get this error
[18:23:37] INFO: Read alias: main

lol jesus
I like iotLink as well
another option is to install nodered on any machine, linux or windows, etc and use it like a client
But that error is also covered in the link I shared
now i do it this way because i am almost done (i hope)
Windows is finicky with this these days
I like IOTLink even more after realising I can control the volume on my PC remotely. I got annoyed with not being able to change the volume from my work machine during the day (media plays through the PC to surround sound).
yes i see it @sly kindle buy the way thanks for your help
@cunning wolf yes, being able to mute/unmute desktop discord notifications while media player is playing is nice
node-red can bascially pass on any console command, which is also cool
Oh. On that topic (and feel free to send me to another channel π ), is there a way to tell when a Teams call is in progress?
Yeah... auto-mute music when it knows I'm in a meeting/call. I don't know if there's an API for that π
yeah, I'm not aware either
I'll do some research. Cheers π
iotlink needs the mosquitto broker addon set up
a little more involved
but a lot more functionality
i know
i already have mqtt
do you have tips i run home assistant now on pi3 and i wil put it on pi4 soon do you have tips to easy convert
Using the image?
yes
Then #330990055533576204 will have tips π
1 last question how do i add the addon to lovelace
type: ''
service: hassio.addon_stdin
data:
addon: core_rpc_shutdown
input: main
this?
but wich type
card
I've installed the node-red addon from the store but it's not starting. When I go to the web UI it says gateway error 502 and then the addon service stops
is SSL necessary? I haven't set up SSL on my hass instance, so maybe that's part of the issue?
i have also problems with ssl
but how can i add it
you use what you tested to create an automation
the card and ssl with duckdns
one thing at a time π
Anyone knowledgeable about MariaDB?
Traccar keeps giving me an error and traccar wont start up (502)
[Warning] Aborted connection 30 to db: 'traccar' user: 'service' host: '172.30.32.1' (Got an error reading communication packets)
Could it be that there is something wring with my configuration.yaml?
I got this:
recorder:
db_url: mysql://homeassistant:PASSWORD@localhost/homeassistant?charset=utf8
Could I be missing something
oke the card
I tried googling it as well, but I really can't seem to find the mistake I've made
@sly kindle
you create an automation, not a card
if you want to create a card which lets you enter any text you want that is going to require some advanced #frontend-archived
i mean a card with a button that you can turn it off
oops...mixing you up with the notifications person..
lol
there are many ways, but one way would be by using the entity-button card
@versed notch localhost? Docker? Yeah, that probably isn't gonna work.
What should I fill in there? core-mariadb? @cunning wolf
I tried that and got the same error :/ So I'm just trying things out now
Where is the addon running that contains your DB?
Where?
No. That's how you access them. Where are they?
Good question
Under the bed? In a cornflake box? On a computer?
And what's the address of the Pi?
Local or external?
Local, unless you want all communication to have to make a round trip to the outside world.
In #frontend-archived , epearl
Was gonna say, I don't think I need it to be external
ok
My local address is 192.168.2.4
So... what happens when you use that?
Then the pi uses it's own address, accessed from the router (?)
recorder:
db_url: mysql://homeassistant:PASS@core-mariadb/homeassistant?charset=utf8
Like that?
db_url: mysql://homeassistant:password@core-mariadb/homeassistant?charset=utf8```
yes
What is the difference for this application in between using 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.2.4
127.0.0.1 = localhost.
i.e. the environment that you're in now.
Docker containers are their own environment.
Oh right
and my pi gives it its own address
so by leaving it localhost it will stay in the envoirement
unless I tell it to access the pi
By using a local address instead of localhost
Right?
Not quite. Your local IP is your way into the Pi. The Pi might delegate access to other things within it.
Like how your external IP gets you to your router and then the router decides where the requests go within your network.
192.168.2.4 is where mariadb is running, 192.168.2.4 is where traccar is running, 192.168.2.4 is where homeassistant is running...etc
I see
I mean, I know a bit of networking, but not that much hahaha
Excuse me for my lack of understanding π
Nah, that wasn't too painful. We've suffered worse π
Hahah for sure
Earlier when I used core-mariadb it gave me that same error
I'm trying the local IP now, gonna see how that works
The silly thing is, most of this stuff just worked and I felt like I understood it. But when MariaDB just gave that error I was just clueless
Happens to us all sometimes, don't worry about it.
[Warning] Aborted connection 398 to db: 'traccar' user: 'service' host: '172.30.32.1' (Got an error reading communication packets)
Yep, same error again
@cunning wolf
So the Recorder part seems to be okay
do you actually have gps devices in your cars for using with traccar?
becasuse it's really not worth the hassle unless you do
I wanted to hook my phone into it
there are better ways of tracking your phone
I mostly wanted to check the system out and see what it could offer me
GPSLogger for Android. Something else for iPhone.
the HA mobile apps, gpslogger, owntracks...
Traccar seems kinda pointless unless you're doing fleet management.
I see
One car does not make a fleet π
hahaha I see
or if your family has cars and each of them have a gps device in them...
I thought it was like, giving you that same thing that google gives you, the roads you been on and everything
which was a possibility, so thought I'd ask
But then locally
or if your family has cars and each of them have a gps device in them...
@sly kindle That's a fleet π
there is no way to do gps locally really
Nat - does your car ever go anywhere without you?
not really
Then your mobile is your car tracker.
I mostly travel by bike tbh
If you want to know when you're in your car, use something else to detect that.
I thought it would be a fun way to track the distance and everything lmao
I found a way that I could hook my phone to hass with the gpslogger
life360 app is another
Is there a way that I could easily collect all that data and display it on a map?
Location history? Probably
the map card will now show device tracker entities paths
not the main map panel, but a separately added card
Oh really? How does one add that card?
it's kind of rudimentary but it's there
Or could it show that on a day to day basis where I've been
Oh... how'd I miss the 'hours' bit? π
Nat - over to #frontend-archived for questions on that π
Or a mod could just break the rules and tell you here π
I suppose that could be done by just collect the data and throw it in a database and then use the content of that database on a map + filter buttons
hahaha I will
Hello everyone, I hope I am ride here. I have a question Iβm looking for a setup for the Dutch klik aan klik uit.. On the internet nothing I can findπ Is there someone were this is is running? Please share it with my... you help me a lot
@gleaming cairn Please DO NOT cross post. Read the channel description, post it and wait for folks to respond.
I continue to receive the following notifications configurator
Click button to configure Alexa Media Player - Begin - When I click on configure it doesn't allow me to configure anything on it? I visited this https://community.home-assistant.io/t/alexa-media-player-2-factor-verification-code-not-received/176777 but this didn't help as I don't get prompted to enter a verification code any links and/or ideas to fix this would be appreciated
Is there some kind of tutorial on how to run two different z2m instances in hassio in order to run and manage two separated ZigBee networks?
I'm not sure you can do that. About the closest you'll get is this: https://github.com/lukas-hetzenecker/home-assistant-remote
A possible use case for this is to be able to use different Z-Wave networks, on different Z-Wave sticks (with the second one possible running on another computer in a different location).
Applies to ZigBee too.
A short note on why I would like to do that: I have three ZigBee devices (i.e., three Heiman sirens) that hamper the stability of the entire ZigBee network.
You wouldn't have two networks running on one host. You'd need two hosts.
Is that all? Replace the bad devices π
So my idea for a workaround is to create a separate network that covers the problematic devices.
@cunning wolf: Unfortunately it is not that easy. π¦
So, two coordinators with two separated z2m instances won't work. π¦
You're telling me it won't work before looking at something designed to solve that very same problem?
Of course running at different channels.
Go read that page, try it out, see what it does.
Don't write things off without even trying.
@cunning wolf: Sorry for the misunderstanding, I made the conclusion "So, two coordinators with two separated z2m instances won't work." based on your previous statement. I will play around with it and see what happens. Unfortunately I am not very familiar with ZigBee in general. I just thought, as it is straightforward to run two different WiFi Access points, with two different WiFi cards, on the same computer, this might work for ZigBee with two coordinators as well.
Well, no. Because you have a single add-on running Z2M and it's not designed for that purpose.
You could raise a feature request or do a PR yourself if you're so inclined... but yours is a bit of an edge case, so it's unlikely to be developed unless you do it yourself.
@cunning wolf: OK, get it. Thanks. Well, the root of my problem is that the three Heiman sirens, which in particular work really well as MQTT-controlled sirens, act also as router. But they don't work very reliable as a router in the network. My theory why they cause problems is that they use the ZLL protocol, which is a subset of the full Zigbee protocol. They can repeat/route ZLL compliant messages but not full ZigBee messages. I have found this interesting post on this topic: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/aqara-motion-sensors-with-zigbee2mqtt-unresponsive-after-a-few-hours-need-constant-re-pairing/206515/5?u=star314
Team, I have successfully install MariaDB and PhPMyAdmin Add-ons and they work great. I am currently having issues to get node red to communicate with the DB. I install the MySQL pallet and it can not connect. Maybe I have the wrong IP address or some stupid setting I over looked. Any help would be appreciated
Hi community, I have installed duck DNS following the instructions in the add on documentation and it is working fine for HTTP: However HTTPS is throwing an error when I try to access it. ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR. I have set accept terms to true and don't see any errors in the add on log. On my router I have port forward 8123 to the HA instance. Are there further steps I need to take?
@wind trench sounds like you are missing the http: configuration
Hey @sly kindle Thank you for that. Yes I found a blog post on the configuration.ymal file entry. Put that in and working eternally with HTTPS but now when I access locally I am getting a connection reset error. Does this look correct?
locally you should be using https:// too
http:
base_url: https://myhost.duckdns.org:8123
ssl_certificate: /ssl/fullchain.pem
ssl_key: /ssl/privkey.pem+
base_url does not belong there anymore
Locally I get t o the log in via https ok but then when actually logging in it get reset
you would enter your duckdns URL in configuration > general in the UI
