Hey, has anyone an idea how to get wifi_connector addon to work? I also opened this question:
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/configure-home-assistant-with-wifi/689349?u=floerlphilip
Glad if anyone knows any help 🙂
Which wifi_connector add-on?
Does someone know how to add a data point to the influx db to an existing entity? I tried it to the chronograf interface but it request " <mearuement>, <tag_key>=<tag_value>...."
Is there an option for ipv6? In the docs (https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/blob/master/dnsmasq/DOCS.md) there is no info about this and the config schema only contains a host and ip option (https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/blob/master/dnsmasq/config.yaml#L35-L36)
Have you tried using a v6 address?
Adding a second record seems to work for the IP resolving. I first tried to replace the ipv4 address with the ipv6 address, which did not work.
So now I have two hosts with the domain and with an ipv4 and ipv6 address. I still have to do some troubleshooting but I think I am on the right track
thx
@slim lark I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
should HTTPS queries be resolved differently?
hey guys, i know this is an unsupported way to do things, but i kinda NEED locks... so, im trying to use portainer on HassOS. problem is, file system appears to be write locked from every angle on portainer, so, i cant create that a homebridge container.
What is the least bad practice while doing something like this? any folders i specifically should point to for holding container config? i dont want to go changing file/folder permissions to force this to work like i usually do, trying to build out as close to best as i can while still retaining core funstionality (like my locks 🙂 )
Not using HAOS and migrating to a container install is the least bad practice
Portainer will ensure an unhealthy HAOS host, and things will stop working
I am using appdaemon to make a tablet dashboard but I am currently really struggling to make a file in the dasboards directory any advice?
or really how to access the directory in general
i am OK with the above. i understand the above... but, again, needs to be balanced with usability... thius why i asked about where to install. Portainer is already installed so, its already out of compliance...
what exactly are you trying ot do? if you just want ease of access from a tablet, just build a lovelace page to hanbdle all you need from that tablet, then set the home to your page
its just more that I want a nice looking dashboard
so, use mushroom
to me, it looks like youre trying to jump through the hoops others have already jumped through and found alternative methods for.
no idea what that is I just used the first thing that came up when doing research
mushroomn strategy is a HACS addon. it replaces the lovelace style ui with a more bundled, softer looking version.
install HACS, look up MUSHROOM, download and read what to do. im willing to bet it pushes towards what you might want.
Mushroom is a custom card not an add-on
which it isn't
whoops... yeah i did.
i always forget the sensitivity of terminology here...
it's not just pedantic, folks who don't know better will go off in the weeds looking for the wrong thing in the wrong place, and then ask questions that don't make any sense
HACS is a ... i dont know, not an add on... an integration?
yes, it is an integration
that allows other packages to be installed?
#integrations-archived integrate Home Assistant with devices or services, or provide functionality within Home Assistant.
#add-ons-archived provide additional software or services, which an integration could possibility integrate with. Add-ons are for Home Assistant OS and Supervised only, other install methods can install software other ways.
it's just a downloader. it downloads things, that's it
i mean, byu that definition, MQTT is an integration and not an add on... yet, its definitely in the add-on store
Well, yes, but no
well, no but yes
Mosquitto is and add-on, the MQTT broker
there are two parts - the server, which is an addon and an integration that connects to it
this is why it's helpful to use the right terminology, lest you say things like that 🙂
anyway... terminology.. .i apologize for categorizing the thing in the wrong ethereal space... moving on...
HACS to MUSHROOM will get you where you probably want to go... and we can move on from arguing over the nomenclature specific to this ecosphere
glad you guys were so willing to help him while holding your tongues so vehemently while scolding me for saying the wrong word... thats a LOT of lines dedicated to correcting one mistake and 0 words dedicated to helping the person who asked the question...
EFF THIS TINY KEYBOARD!!!!
Thank you so much for your help @ocean kernel
@ocean kernel it's an attempt to stop confusion from spreading to yet another person
with mushroom is there any way to make light dimmers a vertical bar instead of a horizontal one
#frontend-archived can help with cards
while that is appreciated, the effort put into that would have been much better served in answering the persons initial question.
and, i think, maybe just 1 mod jumping on me is enough. you all dont need to gang up.
(there is no need to differentiate if one of the people responding was an admin not a mod... its all the same from here)

I hope i am in there right place. Trying to get support for Vaultwarden. I am running it on a supervised homeassitant install. I can access vaultwarden via my web browser addon and through URL from my computer. I cannot access it through the bitwarden app on my PC or iphone. It says am SSL error has occured and a secure connection to the server cannot be made. I am also using duckdns
Can you access the web ui via the DuckDNS address without SSL warnings in your browser?
yes
From your phone's browser too?
it says its not private and i have to trsut it but then i can get it to go to the page
phone and pc
phone browser and pc browser
Sounds like a SSL issue indeed. The certificate is not valid for the domain
Or not from a trusted source
i am not completely up on all this stuff. but i think the SSL is handles with duckdns right?
everything was working fine a couple weeks ago and then just stopped.
any ideas how I can fix it? I like the service
when its working...
Vaultwarden should work as soon as the certificate is fixed. It insists on a valid and trusted one.
But I don't use DuckDNS, you might have to wait for someone familiar with that.
Thank you
have you run your site through an SSL checker?
nope. Didn't know there was sucha thing
run it through there. itll take a couple minutes
it might even shed some light on where your issue is
something else to do is to check when the certificate was issued/expires
if you have your old cert cached, look at its credentials and see when they expired. you may have to go through the "letsencrypt" process again (its been a LONG time since ive messed with hosting apps inside of HA. its a lot easier to run everything as individual containers.)
We were able to retrieve a certificate for this site, but the domain names listed in it do not match the domain name you requested us to inspect. It's possible that:
The web site does not use SSL, but shares an IP address with some other site that does.
The web site no longer exists, yet the domain name still points to the old IP address, where some other site is now hosted.
The web site uses a content delivery network (CDN) that does not support SSL.
The domain name is an alias for a web site whose main name is different, but the alias was not included in the certificate by mistake.
None of the common names in the certificate match the name that was entered (website.duckdns.org). You may receive an error when accessing this site in a web browser.
looks like you have a cert for mysite.com and you need a cert for yoursite.com
what youre trying to do requires all of your information from point a to point b and back to be encrypted. to enforce that encryption, you issue a certificate which is then signed by a third party guaranteeing that when you type in mysite.com it goes to mysite.com. instead, yours points to yoursite.com. check to make sure your public IP matches where your DNS forwarder is sending your site. (make sure that mysite.com points ultimately to your networks public IP address (go to ipchicken.com to check public IP). if all of that matches, make sure your internal network handles your data correctly so that something like traefik or something like pfsense handles all the port forwarding correctly.
or, since you mentioned duckDNS, my guess is that their second scenario is more likely... your IP address changed and you havent informed your DNS forwarder
which is part of issue 1, but more explicit.
okay. I am going to look into this. let me check it out. Thank you so much
That really depends on where the SSL cert is handled - the Vaultwarden add-on or a proxy
weird... why cant i like your comment tinkerer?
Does anyone know how the official SSH Addon for HASS https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-ssh "Limits login attempts to hold off brute-force attacks better." ?
I've got a script that needs to connect several times via SSH to perform a single command, and then disconnect. Each connection is authenticated and successful but every 5th connection gets stalled and "Connection reset by peer" after several minutes, slowing down the execution time of the script and hindering it's functionality as only some of the commands are executed... I think I want to change the conditions of that anti-brute-force configuration to be a little more lenient to my very specific host. Does anyone know if this is possible?
So my ip matches
it matches with duckdns
Does Vaultwarden handle SSL directly?
I think thats handled by letsencrypt (duckdns)
Vaultwarden might need a restart when the local certificates are renewed 🤔
But not sure about that. Mine is handled by a reverse proxy.
log_level: info
ssl: false
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
request_size_limit: 10485760
the page you took me to has SSl: fasle. Mine is true
everything else looks right in configuration
Try restarting the add-on
Yeah. I did that. I uninstalled it and reinstalled
Im wondering if my wifi setup is creating issues. I havean att modem router combo, so I shut off their router part and only use it as a passthrough. I had a software update that reset my settings and was getting a double nat. Everything fixed now, but this issue
ive sense tried reinstalling the app, and even creating a new duckdns url. nothing
hi, i currently struggle to setup nextcloud with mariadb. i have mariadb running on my home assistant and when nextcloud is running, the log refers to the manual setup to get it running with mariadb. i followed the documentation of the nextcloud add-on how to use mariadb with it and applied the credentials in the mariadb config:
https://imgur.com/vGeaRsl
ive restarted my home assistant, mariadb, and nextcloud. am i overseeing something? thanks in advance!
Does anyone have any experience with linking Sonarr/Radarr from HA to Seedbox and then to a NAS? I think the first bit is relatively simple, but I've had some issues finding good documentation on the last part.
okay. I have a little more info duckdns is certifying my last url i used. I tried to make a different one when issues arised
DUDE. I figured it out
Tinker and RA, i could about kiss you guys. thank you so much
Is there a 'buy me a kiss' sponsorship option?
OnlyFans?
Tinker, wanna start an onlyfans with me?
Hey @lime girder , I feel awkward pinging you for this (and a little terrified since it seems the name you put on Github no longer matches Discord's new format, so I hope I got the right guy here)
I'm trying to get your AMR2MQTT addon working. It's close, I think.
So first, details. I bought this SDR because the brand and chipset seem to be well known to the SDR community to work correctly.
My meter is an R300, but I think for the issue I'm having, that is irrelevant. (I'd be glad to send you the manual if you ask though)
My log: https://hastebin.com/share/vawefohoka.yaml
I am running Home Assistant through a QEMU virtual machine managed by Proxmox. I have the SDR setup to pass-through to the VM.
As you can see, I'm getting some kind of Signal caught, exiting! error, which is likely related to the rtlsdr_demod_write_reg failed with -9 later on.
Looking into that rtlsdr_demod_write_reg error, I found this. Sounds like a USB level issue. Unfortunately, everything I look up talks about error code -7 but nothing about -9. I'll have to keep digging but I'm getting a suspicion this may be a red herring.
Reading around I saw that SDRs should show up under /dev/rtl, but that directory doesn't exist in the VM.
So at this point I'm trying to think through this... could I be missing a kernel module?

Having some trouble with MQTT communicating with the Ring-MQTT add on. It was all working fine for a week and I’ve since been getting errors in the log of the MQTT add on. They go away when I disable the Ring-MQTT add on but haven’t been able to find a fix to get them playing nicely again. Am I right in thinking it’s an authentication issue? Any help or guidance would be fantastic. The error im getting is this…
172.30.32.2:54110 on port 1883.
2024-02-14 16:39:24: Client <unknown> closed its connection.
Those aren't errors, those are just informational
https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/51603#issuecomment-856523532
Maybe the devs should give that a descriptive client identifier if possible 🙂
That'd be a good idea, and maybe one decade that'll happen
Thanks! Really helpful, I actually managed to solve it by completely going through the MQTT set up again. Hopefully that’s a permanent fix
Hello, I do not see the addition of an addon in the Home Assistant settings. I installed it in a docker container. I think I only installed the core and not the supervisor. Do you know how I can fix this problem without reinstalling everything?
Thanks in advance
Not all installation methods come with addons. Check the table here: https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/#advanced-installation-methods
so to upgrade to a compatible version I have to reinstall everything?
You can take a backup in HA and restore it later. I recommend sticking to docker and install addons the docker way yourself. Addons are just fancy albeit restrictive docker containers.
I found it more practical to manage everything in home assistant, but with portainer it should do it
In that case, make a backup and install the supervised version and use addons.
Trying to install diyHue, and keep getting an error about tarballs and stuff
The command '/bin/bash -o pipefail -c curl -J -L -o $diyhue.tar.gz "https://github.com/diyhue/diyHue/archive/refs/heads/master.tar.gz" && tar xzvf $diyhue.tar.gz --strip-components=1 -C diyhue && rm -rf $diyhue.tar.gz && pip3 install -r /diyhue/requirements.txt --no-cache-dir' returned a non-zero code: 1
Not sure what's wrong, sorry.. Not much luck with the googles
Hey @CentralCommand , I feel awkward
Did you ever figure this out?
Check the existing issues and PRs:
- https://github.com/maxbec/hassio-diyHue/pulls
Links to forks and others having the same issue.
Those are all 2 years old
I did start there though
This was linked there: https://github.com/diyhue/hassio-addon
Seems no one is able to install it right now
Yeah, this is the official version
So, it seems the repository is just FUBAR until someone checks their slack
Hey guys, probably an issue that come up before but my searching hasn't really found much. Trying to search for certs issues is a bit of a minefield. So I'm setting up my HAOS, moving from a containerised setup. I've added nginx and letsencrypt to handle the UI encryption for external connections. I've got Lets Encrypt doing its thing and have a cert. It dumps it to a /data/letsencrypt directory for the domain.
Nginx wants it in /ssl/. I don't want to manually move the files, so maybe a symlink would work to the /ssl/ location. But seem like this should maybe just work??
without me having to link them up manually.
stat: can't stat '/ssl//data/letsencrypt/live/*.domain.co.uk/fullchain.pem': No such file or directory
is the nginx log
There is a double /
it wants to add the /ssl/
Try just fullchain.pem
ah ok, let me check, I just used what lets encrypt put in it's log output.
seems to have started, but still cant get to https, I'll have a play, as the ssl error is not gone so thanks
Quick noob question. Have enabled mutiprotocol support on my skyconnect. Do I still have both the OpenThread Border Router add-on AND the Silicon Labs Multiprotocol add-on running at the same time, or do I just need the newly added Silicon Labs Multiprotocol add-on running with the original OpenThread Border Router add-on stopped?
My google foo has let me down on this one, and readin the documentation over and over does not reveal the answer to me. 😦
jump to #zigbee-archived or #thread-archived but i believe the current suggestion is run from multipan due to severe instability
rip
ok, successfully backed out, zigbee network back up and running. 🙂
just for fun, take a look at https://tubeszb.com/product/cc2652p7-zigbee-to-poe-coordinator-2023/
that's my preferred zigbee coordinator then you could use the skyconnect to play with w/e
to be honest, i think i'll just do what the docs say and get a second skyconnect, let the thread border router use that one and leave this first one to the zigbee network. 🙂
how i access to mariadb database, in which path or location
You're using the MariaDB add-on?
Hello, I am having trouble finding a way to develop a Home Assistant Add-on on my windows pc. I would like to create and test an Add-on on my windows machine but I am not sure how to go about doing this. Thanks in advance.
#devs_add-ons-archived can help you, but see https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/add-ons first
I just found the "Assist Microphone" that other day, I'm liking it so far but i'm missing the "media player" part so i can use TTS to it as well. any change to add that to the add-one?
Hello, I'm trying to delete a single datapoint from InfluxDB via 'Explore' but i am not succeeding. Is there some manual on how to do that?
Im using generic camera addon and the camera configure on it i still losing feed. Always get Unable to read frames from ffmpeg process. Any idea
Hello, i have a problem with the following Add-On : Advanced SSH & Web Terminal
I installed this addon but it is not starting, the addon it self seems started with cpu usage and so on when i hit start. But when i try to open it from the frontend it say, the addons seems not to be started right now, do you wanna try again, any ideas ?
Any errors in the logs tab on the addon? Did you remember to complete the Configuration tab?
Okay, seems solved, i needed to add a password in plain text, omg this is bit too much for me actually 😄
Remember to read the installation instructions available with every Add-on
Did you find an answer to this? I am looking to expand my sensor-data with historical data I have in csv format. But I can not wrap my head around the "Write Data". I tried to do it as the docs for the line protocol say. But it won't work.
I am trying with someting like this in a file and gziped:
W,domain=sensor,entity_id=sma_grid_power,friendly_name="SMA Grid Power" value=359 1704874500
W,domain=sensor,entity_id=sma_grid_power,friendly_name="SMA Grid Power" value=471 1704874800```
no...
I'm going to be using an ESP32 board to upgrade a google home mini, does anyone know of a way to combine the voice assistant and speaker functions? i.e. being able to play music and give it commands without having to change settings between uses
#voice-assistants-archived might know
ok thank you!
Looks like otbr just was updated. I tried to update but getting this error.
Can't install homeassistant/amd64-addon-otbr:2.4.7: 404 Client Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.43/images/create?tag=2.4.7&fromImage=homeassistant%2Famd64-addon-otbr&platform=linux%2Famd64: Not Found ("manifest for homeassistant/amd64-addon-otbr:2.4.7 not found: manifest unknown: manifest unknown")
Hi, I'm total noob just starting with HA and I have troubles with MQTT IO add-on config file. I get fatal error: "Seems like the configured configuration file does not exists". I saved my config file as /homeassistant/mqtt-io/config.yml and this path or just /mqtt-io/config.yml as path doesn't work. Does anyone know how to solve this?
Hi,
I have installed and setup the Advanced SSH & Web Terminal add-on with an SSH key and
allow_remote_port_forwarding: true
allow_tcp_forwarding: true
for VS Code SSH access. The connection keeps terminating during handshake.
Can a mod please remove this?
Thanks. The wrong one was removed though. It was my initial message. 😄
Only one wish per day
Haha
You can use dpaste.org to avoid the bot 🤖 eating your message
Can pastebin be used instead of dpaste?
Not forbidden, but...
Please use a code share site to share code or logs, for example:
- https://dpaste.org/ (select YAML for the language, and consider picking a longer expiry)
- http://pastie.org/ (select YAML for the language)
- https://paste.debian.net/ (you guessed it, select YAML as the language)
Please don't use Pastebin, since it can randomly add spaces to the main view. Please also don't share text as images since it makes it harder for people to help you. Remember that others may have colour blindness, impaired vision, etc.
So, it sounds like a push mangled something. In their slack atm
Yes I found a solution. I first did an export with influx_inspect export to check exactly how my data is formated:
influx write W,domain=sensor,entity_id=NAME IDENTITY,_field=value value=433 TIME_IN_NS
@lusty helm I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
For the RPC shutdown addon, what password does it want? I put my microsoft login and it doesnt work
That one you are using at the Windows login screen
it autologins
but when I lock it, then its just my name and a pin which doesnt work for HA
Hi, I'm very new to HA and I got a Problem with the 'Advanced SSH & Web Terminal'. Always when I try to start the addon it doesn't work and says it hasn't started yet. In the protocol it says 'exec /init: input/output error'. I already try to install it again but this didn't work. Does anyone know how to solve this?
Have you configured and saved the required username and password/SSH key settings?
Yes
Noob question:
I want to run an init command inside addon (docker) when it starts. How?
ik that I can run it manually from "Advanced SSH & Web Terminal" but I need to do it at certain other addon start. And that addon crashes often unfortunately.
You can't
What do the start up logs say?
oof
I'm guessing there is no simple, official way to do it
..since I can think of monstrosity like:
create a command entity that ssh from homeassistant container into SSH container that executes the target command (using docker cli). But I would like to avoid that.
You seem to have jumped right to a super hacky solution rather then solicit actual solutions to whatever problem you're facing
Whatever the actual problem is
Coz.. I dunno the simple solution.
It should be as simple as to add the command in addon's config (at least in yaml mode).
But it's not an option I guess?
You keep focusing on this hacky workaround. What is the actual problem you're trying to solve?
You cannot do what you're trying to do
the problem in this case is there is a certain bug in addon and I want to workaround it by running a simple one linear. Without waiting for dev to show up or forking the entire addon myself and maintaining it later.
Which addon? What bug?
I checked one of the xteve project's linked docker images and it does the same: https://github.com/alturismo/xteve/blob/master/Dockerfile#L27
Nice find, but it Alex is based on fork
https://github.com/SenexCrenshaw/xTeVe/blob/main/Dockerfile
And it doesn't contain the line
That's one of the reasons I don't like or use addons. You're very reliant on the maintainers and their choices. Not necessarily their fault. It's unfeasible to have a million options and choices for all use cases.
I like the part where that I rely on maintainer to do the work. Doing custom stuff is what usually get me in maintenance hell sooner or later. Not just in case of addons or HA. 😉
..and speaking about forks (in this case) I'm gonna suggest to use the one called "Threadfin" (https://github.com/Threadfin/Threadfin/) instead of those. It looks properly mainteined and has more stars already.
@tender crypt they fixed it! You can install it now 😄
Anyone?
I don't use that one, but I would try /config/mqtt-io/config.yml
If you created a subdirectory in /config or /homeassistant
Will try. Thanks a lot
'exec /init: input/output error'
Sounds a bit like a disk error, I would try a fresh SD card, then restore your backup.
Thanks I try that.
Oh nice
Thank you 🙏
hi guys. whats the process for adding env values? having no luck once the addon is built
env:
- xxxx: xxxxxxx
Don't delete messages 😦
thanks. and soz, accidently added some personal info
We know what you did...
Created 3 instances of Zigbee2mqtt add-ons, in order to use 3 coordinators.
Everything works perefctly except that each add-ons takes 2GB of RAM immidiately before there are even added devices.
After installing the 3 same-add-ons, Proxmox shows 6GB of 8GB RAM are in use.
Anyway around that?
I guess I shouldn't add the 4th one as I planned...
There's a better way of adding more zigbee2mqtt instances?
I'm having troubles with finding sensors with MQTT IO add-on. I get error: w1thermsensor.errors.NoSensorFoundError:
Could not find sensor of type DS18B20 with id 28-d6f4f91d64ff
Please check cabling and check your /boot/config.txt for
dtoverlay=w1-gpio
I have done both. What else could be wrong?
Why on earth do you need so many coordinators? Like more than one?
I have thick walls in my flat and one zigbee mesh was never stable enough. Some devices randomly disconnected, and when I had actions for multiple devices, like turn off all lights, they turned off one by one with some delay until the last one.
With my new approach of multiple coordinates, everything works perefectly, no delay at all when turning all devices on or off at once. And everything stabely connected with high LQI.
Apart from the RAM usage, it works so much better than before
Zigbee2MQTT in a LXC?
will it take less RAM than the add-on in HA?
mine uses 150 MiB of RAM
Here's what docker stats says about my container
CONTAINER ID NAME CPU % MEM USAGE / LIMIT MEM % NET I/O BLOCK I/O PIDS
e37f4d810d0b zigbee2mqtt 0.65% 127.8MiB / 7.755GiB 1.61% 2.19GB / 2.31GB 128MB / 155MB 12
I doubt the addon willl use more but the numbers are already kinda insignificant for both.
The add-on adds 2GB of RAM just after the install, before adding any devices
Adds where? How did you measure that?
Proxmox > VM > Summary > Memory usage
I could see it jumps with each zignee2mqtt add-on that I've added
Think about the people running all kinds of stuff including Z2M on their 1-2G RAM model pis.
That's useless. Check in the VM itself: https://discord.com/channels/330944238910963714/1153192446566600714
You can also use the glances addon to check it.
I had my previous setup with one zigbee2mqtt instnace, hundreds of devices, and it took much less RAM.
but that had only 1 add on
What I found out is that the installation of the add-on itself is what makes the memory jumps
Please check my link. Perhaps also read this: https://www.linuxatemyram.com/
in HA > Hardware > Memory
It says 1 GB / 8 GB
doing the same, now running 3 z2m instances after having 1 instance and ~200 devices (almost all of them routers)
you run all of them as add-ons inside HA? Did you notice high RAM usage in proxmox?
That's one way of solving it
If you're so worried about memory usage don't give your VM more than it needs and try to come to terms with the fact that PVE's memory stat does not show what you think it does. At least for linux.
I changed HA VM memory from 8GB to 7GB, and for some reason the usage went down too, all the way back to 2GB
with the 3 instances running
So I'll be able to create that 4th zigbee2mqtt instance after all, and who knows, maybe i'll break a record in coordinators.
You rarely need more than 4G
does anyone know anything about this?
Hi guys! I'm a newbie here. I'm trying to run InfluxDB on my home assistant, but I don't know why I am unable to start it; every time it fails. Here is the log I have:

I don't see anything problematic here other than the Listener at 127.0.0.1:8088 failed failed to accept a connection... which seems to be normal. Happens for me too and it's accessible.
So strange :(. Everytime I try to start it, I have to wait few minutes and then nothing happen
What does it say if you click the open web ui button?
Where is this button ? I’m looking for it but can’t find it
I tried to start it from my computer instead of my phone but nothing changed, it is starting and then stopping
So strange, it looks like I'm not even able to install other add on ! I tried to install Samba Share and I had the same issue ! When I press the start button, it's loading and then nothing happens
could it be because of a superuser/admin access or something like this ?
I just understood for the open web ui interface, but I’m not even able to see this button as the add-on stays on start and nothing happens
Hi, I'm runnig the duckdns addon and can connect fine over my home network when using the duckdns subdomain. I can also connect from other WiFi networks. I can't however connect from my mobile data / tethering. Has anyone else run into similar issues?
@edgy dewIf this is the same when using mobile browser or companion app, it could be your provider is doing something funky there
ah okay, I've had it working previously with both my broadband provider and my mobile data provider
although since it is working on other wifi networks, I'm guessing more likely an issue with my mobile data provider
just tested it with a vpn and it works fine on mobile data now
I've had the SD card of my raspberry pi on which HA has been running die on me. Took a new card, installed HA, restored from a full back, now trying to get it back to working again. For whatever reason, I can't start my Mosquitto broker add-on, and it's not showing any obvious errors. Anyone an idea what steps to take to troubleshoot?
Have you rebooted the Pi (not just restarted HA) after restoring the backup?
hmm no, lemme try that one
Add-ons often behave weird without that reboot.
well, that seems to have worked. wouldn't have thought about it lol
but it kinda feels like my HA is slow to load... actually clicking on the Add-on window had it load for like 5+ seconds
Hello, I am trying to port forward my HA to the internet using this guide: https://www.speaktothegeek.co.uk/2022/07/tutorial-home-assistant-secure-remote-access/ which is using the DuckDNS and NGINX Addon. I am port forwarding the port 443 and 8126 from WAN connections to the ip of my HA server on a mikrotik router.
I am unsuccesful. When connecting with the duckdns domain i get connection refused. When i connect to https://mylocalip:8126 i get a certificate error. Could anyone help me out? Is the issue with me being too stupid to port forward on a mikrotik? Or is it a certificate issue?
I think its a port forwarding issue, but i have no clue on how to fix it. It worked on my old ISP router but when i got this new one, i cant get it to work
Can someone help me ? 🥲
Like I said, there's nothing to see.
Please show me a screenshot of this.

I'd also suggest you run ha supervisor repair via SSH, wait 10 minutes, then reboot and try again to start and the open web ui and check logs.
Did you restore your HA from a backup recently?
Zigbee2MQTT addod, front-end not working. Re-installed addon updated HA. Changed browser. Stll cant resolve this issue. Can someone help?
#zigbee-archived can better help, but look at the log for the add-on as we'll need that to help you (assuming the details in it don't help you fix it)
Each time I press on start button, it stays grey and nothing happens. As on this screenshot : https://ibb.co/3TWvdTL
And even if I wait a few minutes, nothing happens
Yes I did
Did you reboot the host (not just restarting HA) after that restore? Add-ons often misbehave without such reboot.
I just did it : https://ibb.co/hgztJzq . I’ll check in 10 min if it works 🤞
What do you mean ? Unplug and replug my home assistant green ?
No. That might cause data corruption.
Settings -
menu - Restart Home Assistant - Advanced options - Reboot system
Ok I’ll do it right now. Thanks a lot !
Would be helpful non cropped and in english
It worked 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Thanks a lot guys !!!
i want to write a python addon, in which i want to call iw via subprocess module. How can i properly install iw in the dockerfile?

You don't need port 8126 - there should only be one port, forwarded to NGINX
Forward 443 on the router to 8126 on the proxy
Is anyone using the Unifi Network Application add on? I am wondering how the experience is compared to running on a Cloudkey or Pi.
I tried that, nothing much changed I still get the same issue but maybe i port forwarded it wrong
I would send the screenshot of the rule but i dont have image permissions

Hi guys i have a problem. I installed HACS, this is working half / half.
I wanted to add https://github.com/Deejayfool/hass-shutter-card over HACS, i tried to add the repo manually, then it says, repo already exist. When i search in HACS i dont find anything with "shutter", "hass" or "deejayfool" for example. No idea why, and i have this not visual view in hacs, not as they promote on there website, seems like text only or something, what do i have to do here ?
That's not a topic for this channel 😉

Hi there. I'm a HA Core user. I'm wanting to use an addon for Anylist but no corresponding Docker version exists. Is there an easy way to convert an add-on Docker file over to a tradional one? I've been running Docker for a while now and I may be able to piece something together after a good while of struggling but thought I'd ask here to see if there might be something to make the conversion less painful and time consuming.
For reference, this is the add-on I'm talking about:
https://github.com/kevdliu/hassio-addon-anylist/tree/main/anylist
More questions: Adguard...
If adults want to get past the filters.. how does one do that?
Eg. My preteen was a little upset his bedrooms Roku couldn't play YouTube but I need it off so the younger preteen won't watch it in the living room.
Or: if my husband or I want to watch adult content that our preteens don't necessarily need access to.

I'm having a strange issue with ESPHome devices, specifically media players; this has been working for years and only now just started playing up; when I try to play a media file from the dashboard Media page to an ESPHome media player, the media player is receiving an address for the media file, that contains the Gateway address of the docker bridge network that the supervisor sits on (I'm using HAOS on bare metal).
This is what I see in the ESPHome log for hte media player device: http://172.30.232.1:8123/media/local/Doorbell.mp3
172.30.232.1 is the docker network named bridge on HAOS
seems like you're using the wrong url
post what you're using to play the media
the service_call
secondly, this isn't and #add-ons-archived question, so lets move this to #integrations-archived please.
my bad, I thought It's add-on because ESPHome is an add-on
the esphome addon handles flashing your devices, it does not handle the communication
gotcha, thanks
you can run esphome devices without having the addon
Very interesting, what do they talk to?
Yeah, I get the flashing part, I had no idea the ESPHome devices talk directly to standard HA APIs, I learned something, thanks for that
I configured cloudflared with my domain, and for some reason it's blocking my connections from my home network. But accepting them from mobile data or outside my home. Anyone know why might that be? I haven't set any zero trust rules (yet) I know it's not a HA issue tbh, because the domain won't work for a website redirect either. It's a cloudflare setting. Just don't know where to seek help.
Are you using a DNS server, directing the URL to the local IP?
You might run into some router DNS rebind protection issues in that case
anyone experienced with the tailscale add-on? im trying to enable ssl without using the funnel, because i want to only have local access through tailscale, not public access.
I followed the instructions here:
https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-tailscale/blob/main/tailscale/DOCS.md
And went for the proxy instructions. in my tailscale account https certificates are enabled and i also added the 3 lines to the configuration.yaml to enable proxy.
After a restart, i go to machine_name.mytailscalesubdomain.ts.net and it works......on http. When i change http to https, i get a ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR. With the browser saying it received a invalid answer.
the last part of the docs mention that you cant use the normal port to access home assistant anymore... I still can when using the ip address. and when i try to use 443 as port in the browser it gives no results, the standard home assistant port 8123 is "working" as in, it gives the ssl error.
help would be super appriciated!
hmm Cloudflare is the one handling the DNSs. There's no local IP in this case. It's a tunnel. https://file.coffee/u/PQsyXKoJYiAixyDhbmxAN.png https://file.coffee/u/YWN78FPiyeVhnWdHJbOPj.png co.uk domain is working with exactly same setup. .com domain was the one being used before with NPM, and once NPM was stopped and domain migrated, it's not working from within my network
Anyone? How do you guys get https/ssl to work using tailscale?
anyone good at esphome?
The folks here: https://discord.gg/KhAMKrd
ok, then i will try was hoping someone have done this https://github.com/Beaky2000/esphome-p1mini/tree/main that could guide me 🙂
Can it be that tailscale requires you to source your own certificate?
Maybe thata why its not working. Enabled proxy in configuration.yaml and enabled https in tailscale dns settings.
Thought it would create one for me then
got it working, getting incredibly slow speeds though. and now lost access completely to my home assistant pc
How exactly does one do this? I’m looking to call on the adguard home api (running as an add on) from within node-red (also running as an add on).
Which part are you stuck on? The Configuration tab of the AdGuard add-on will let you specify a port to expose
You probably don't actually need to do that though from a separate add-on
You can probably go straight to http://a0d7b954-adguard/ ... from NR
That’s what I had thought, but when I try to ping or call an endpoint it fails.
Set the port in AdGuard and use that, it seems to need that
In the adguard addon config? I see 2 fields for ports. The dns port (which I assume the api endpoint would not be listening on) and a web interface port. Is this where I would need to set a port?
yes
Port 80 or something else?
You may have something already on 80... Id pick something else
is this the right channel to talk about esphome?
ESPHome is a system to control your ESP8266/ESP32, with a native integration for Home Assistant.
You can find their documentation here, and get help with ESPHome itself here in the #diy-archived channel (#integrations-archived for the Home Assistant side integration with it). They also have their own Discord server too.
^ theyve got a server
excellent. Thanks. I'll hop over there for that.
second question: What about Mariadb?
Yup, here
Awesome.
So last week I upgraded to an SSD and then afterwards switched over to MariaDB. Things seemed fine with MariaDB at first, but then I ran into initialization issues and intermittent connectivity issues.
Sometimes history wouldn't work, and I'd have error messages in the log
I have since reverted to the sqlite db, since it was such a consistent problem
Anyone else have this issue?
Ok that worked. Though adguard was failing to start while ssl was set to on. I had to disable ssl, which given this is all running locally is probably fine.
@bitter skiff Thanks for the help 🙌
You bet, you're welcome
What kind of errors? How's the SSD connected? What type of hardware are you running?
All good questions. It's a raspberry pi 4b, I'm using a compatible ssd nvme over usb board
The ssd itself, a 256gb inland brand cheapy one from microcenter. It's been solid for the past week other than this issue.
hmm, I want to wrap an public docker image into an add-on - but is it just enabling legacy, and then options will be available in the container?
#devs_add-ons-archived can help with creating a new add-on
doh, thanks
... annnnnd the errors?

I think it'd probably be resolved if I had a fresh db
I just don't know where that db lives on the machine
I'll try creating a new db with a different name
Nope, I see a bunch of log errors

Yeah that's disconcerting
Where is the MySQL server hosted/running on?
this is just the MariaDB add on for home assistant, which I currently am running on a raspberry pi 4b with an SSD
The log looks corruption related. You could check if you have power issues with this: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/rpi_power/
Is the SSD plugged into a powered USB hub?
it's using a POE Hat
Yeah it says it's ok
How does one connect to the mariadb instance? I can try to manually connect
That checks the power to the pi itself but I'm not sure if you can check if a USB device didn't get enough current with it.
I don't use pis myself but I've seen at least twice where a powered hub fixed file system related issues and it's one of the first recommendations for SBC (or at least pi) users with USB powered storage.
You can use the phpMyAdmin addon, the mysql CLI from the SSH addon or if you set a port for the MariaDB addon you can use a client of your choosing. I like HeidiSQL.
Not that there's anything to connect to
Service mariadb exited with code 1 (by signal 0)
I'd recommend plugging that SSD into a powered USB hub and reinstalling the MariadDB addon. Every other way to fix this is kind of messy. What do you use MySQL for?
Right
I think this just continues to solidify my plan to migrate away from RPi for this.
Where would you begin troubleshooting for this type of error? Did some basic googling but hasn't helped yet.

xcel_itron2mqtt: I'm trying to get the xcel_itron2mqtt add-on to work with my Xcel iTron electricity meter.
After doing the registration tasks (Wifi, ldfi configuration) via xcel.com, the meter is connected to WiFi.
The xcel site says "Meter Setup: Ready to Go"
nmap -p 8081 <meter_ip_address> shows:
8081/tcp open blackice-icecap
which suggests that the meter is connected and listening on the port.
However, when I start the xcel_itron2mqtt add-on, the log file shows:
ERROR: Got unexpected response from the API: Service not enabled
Do I need to wait for Xcel to do something else to enable the API?
Or, do I have a configuration problem?

Anyone using Hurricane Electric for DNS and the Let's Encrypt addon?
There is an example config using provider 'dns-he', but when starting this addon it comes thru as null in the log. 'dns-he' is not listed as a supported provider on the documentation page, even though the same page has an example showing it. Is this a bug, or a documentation error?
Is it possible to setup a Let's Encrypt certificate without having a custom domain as I am currently just using inside my home network?
Not with let's encrypt
https://youtu.be/qlcVx-k-02E?si=5soioNAZWa7hK-bT can use a free duckdns one
The only way to do internal only without a custom domain is self-signed and then pin trust on your devices... Well, not the only but it's the easiest (alternate is an internal root ca and then issue certs from there). No cert issues at all will issue a certificate to an IP address, or a .local 'domain'. You have to prove domain ownership for a trusted certificate.
Or this! A free subdomain, then get a cert using DNS verification.
On my question, where should I report either a code bug, or documentation bug?
Hi!
I need to set up a forward proxy server. So that I could do access websites as if I am at home, even though I am not. (curl google.com -x <home ip>:<port>)
Before using the HA, I used openhab and easily solved the problem by installing the Squid proxy server next to the running openhab.
Now that I'm using HA, which is acting like it is an OS itself, I'm struggling to understand if there is an addon for that.
So far I've only managed to access the home device by ssh using ssh and zerotier addons.
Thank you!
There's the NPM add-on for NGINX
Hi, any ideas if the mosquitto add-on will preserve the retain'ed messages over reboots? 🙂
Ah, looks like it does assuming /data doesn't get thrown out: https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/blob/master/mosquitto/rootfs/usr/share/tempio/mosquitto.gtpl#L13
Is there an add-on that I can use to get a terminal prompt so I can setup symbolic links to get https working with Let's Encrypt certificates? I tried "Advanced SSH & Web Terminal" and keep getting 502: Bad Gateway when I try to Start it
Why do you need sym links?
Links can't work across mounts, across containers, so they're unlikely to help with whatever your problem really is
Yes, I've seen it, but from the tutorials I can see that it is mostly used otherwise, not as a forward proxy. Besides, I'm not sure nginx is a good choice for setting up a forward proxy that supports ssl
Works fine for that
What I am trying to do is enable https so that I can securely login/access my home assistant remotely.
I have setup dynamic dns, I have added Let's Encrypt and gotten the certificate, but when I try to edit the configuration.yaml and restart I get the following error:
The system cannot restart because the configuration is not valid: Invalid config for 'http' at configuration.yaml, line 15: not a file for dictionary value 'http->ssl_certificate', got '/data/letsencrypt/live/hunttowers.org/fullchain.pem' Invalid config for 'http' at configuration.yaml, line 16: not a file for dictionary value 'http->ssl_key', got '/data/letsencrypt/live/hunttowers.org/privkey.pem'
These were the paths in the log of Let's Encrypt
I got it to work by allowing the File Editor to access files outside of the configurations. Very odd, but now it works.
Hi! Im looking for advice on how i should approach the problem of mounting a folder through SFTP into a container running on my hass.io yellow.
I considdered making a crontab inside the container, but I don't know wether this will be removed during updates? How much of the system will usually be reverted back to initial state during updates?
Again, please explain your goal so people can help you 😉
My goal is to mount a folder inside of a sonarr container so it can automatically transfer files.
I also found this on the forums: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/solved-hassos-mount-nas-network-share/303292/82?page=5
It describes various ways to do it. However I am a bit confused as to which approach would be the most robust one, because I would really like to fix the problem once, and then not have to fix it again in the future 🙃
Hello... After a ssd crash, I migrated all (after a full backup) all to a new ssd..
However, I cannot start any of my add-on. 🥺
For instance when I want to start the File Editor add-on, I get the following message https://dpaste.org/vyLS6
Any clue on what I should set-up?
Have you rebooted the HAOS host (not just restarting HA) after the restore? Without a reboot add-ons behave weird often
I read that the restore process is better now but I haven't checked yet. Is there still no message about or fix for this?
Indeed!! All is now ok after full reboot! Thanks a lot jorg! 🙂
hello I had a question I have a new home assistant configuration on which I installed duck dns (I am at Bouygues Telecom) the configuration seems to work but only in http not in https, if you have a solution that would be cool
Enable LetsEncrypt in the add-on and then update the http integration to use the certs - see the docs for the DuckDNS add-on
another thing i never managed to secure the login with ssl certificate
it would be best if there was a paid service here that could set this up remotely.
You can just pay for the Nabu Casa cloud service
And the forum has people that deliver paid support, some of it even by people who know what they're doing
(some just come here to get help with their customers)
get the calendar displayed by the waste addon but all the entries of the empties are not displayed although i have included the ics file according to the instructions
waste collection schedule
Pretty sure this will be an integration
My backups are 20GB and think ti might be my InfluxDB config with the hass DB with an infinity retention policy.
api_version: 1
ssl: false
host: a0d7b954-influxdb
port: 8086
database: hass
username: hass
password: #########
default_measurement: state
tags:
instance: prod
source: hass
If I set the retention policy to something like 30 days, do I lose my device history states and data?
Yes and no. The recorder retention only affects HA's database, not influx. There's also still statistical history.
with my config is statistical history sent to InfluxDB?
I really only setup Influxdb because it was suggested by the Brultech GreenEye Gem monitors
In influxDB config can an include filter be added for just Brultech GreenEye Gem devices?
Looks like I would have to rename all of them to be able to include just the Brultech GreenEye Gem devices
🤷
So I dumped and recreated the DB and added a globs include filter that will catch mostly just the gem devices. Now my backups are 300 mb 🤩
Is there a way to use the ESPresense Companion App if I'm running Home Assistant through Docker?
Never mind 🤦♂️ There's a separate Docker container listed right in the main repo

Hi everyone, I've managed to slightly mess up the http block in my configuration.yaml to where I can see the front end but I get a 401 when trying to access addons through the UI. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I'm running homeassistant OS on a raspberry pi 4.
What do you mean "mess up"?
Either the UI works or it doesn't, I don't know any way you could only break add-on access
okay so it seems like it was unrelated to my config change - cleared cookies and the addon UI doesn't give me a 401 anymore
First time HA user here. I've completed a fresh install of HAOS on a Lenovo PC and i can connect to the UI. However the Add-On store is empty. I have found a few posts which include try restarting, rebooting, just waiting (its been around 12 hours since install completed). It does have internet access.
Is there anything I need to configure to get the add-on store to populate? Thanks
So found out that there is no repository specified my default! Can someone tell me the repo for the offical HA?
If you switch a zigbee dongle, from sonoff-P to sonoff-E, do you have to re-pair all the devices or you can just set the new configuration for the new stick, on zigbee2mqtt?
Thanks
@fallow kestrel FYI, I had previously disabled support for older arches, I fixed it. So if you feel like checking for updates and want to try and install, should be fixed. It should be building it for you on all older devices now.
Hello. I am playing with the ADB add-on and have it working with two firesticks... I assumed I would be able to use it with tablets and phones too, but have not been successful at connecting post set-up.
unsure how to troubleshoot
Which ADB add-on?
Yeah, that's an integration
I see there is an ADB Addon that advocates use of the native python implementation ... any idea how all that works out?
I guess they meant this? https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/androidtv/
how you ADB over TCP through HA using "built-in Python implementation"
well at least I am on the right track there...
thanks
That add-on has been depreciated and archived almost 3 years ago.
I thought perhaps there was a way to ADB that I was not already looking at and it referenced. THere were no links and thought you may know better. Thanks
i checked it and it works now. but i dont get how its an older device, but i guess thats just one more thing i dont know
I think it "thought" it was. Either way thank you for testing, and helping me debug
np, debuging in on a opensource platform like homeassistant is everyones responsibility.
Hi, I'd like to create an addon to run a gitlab runner as addon. Is it possible to mount /var/run/docker.sock into a addon container?
#devs_add-ons-archived can help with that
Thanks!
@lime girder I'm looking to use AMR2MQTT and had 1 question after reading the documentation. Can the rtl-sdr-dongle be attached to the Pi running HA or do you need it on its own separate device? I have a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B running HA if that matters.
if its the add-on, then yes should attatch to same device, definitely the case for rtl_433, and pretty positive for AMR2MQTT
thanks

Guys , got a question. Currently running zigbee2mqtt as a add-on in Home Assistant. Could I migrate zigbee2mqtt to a docker enviroment ?
I'm currently running home assistant as a VM in Proxmox.... Might want to go full docker in the future....
Yes
How will those entities be available to homale assistant running on a isolated VM environment?
Tried finding some info in the www about this but couldn't find anything about it
Through MQTT
doesn't matter where Z2M runs
Presumably you could make a backup of the addon and extract the config directory from that, or use the backup functionality in Z2M
Hey guys, I want to migrate my remote access from using duckdns to cloudflare so I dont have to port forward (for security reasons). Bare with me here, but will the duckdns url I already have work as a domain for cloudflare? Or would I need to purchase a new domain? Thx!
Anyone?
just buy a domain man
Sure, not really answering my question though
Hey I need help. I use Cloudflared to access HA externally but recently I get this error 1033 when I try to connect. This is the cloudflared log:

Do what it says. Delete the existing tunnel in Cloudflare, so a new one can be created. Or provide that tunnel's details to the add-on
Yeah just took me an hour to figure out how to find the tunnel, this worked. Thank!
hey all, slightly weird one
yesterday I upgraded from a Pi4 to a Pi5, restoring my HA backup. I installed HAOS using the process in the docs - using the Raspberry Pi OS installer to flash an SDcard with the HA image. Everything works great!
...except for the Terminal/SSH add-ons. Both the official one and the "advanced ssh & web terminal" one refuse to start, logging only the error exec /init: exec format error. If I'm reading the search correctly, this usually indicates an arch mismatch, like you've put the x86 or x64 docker container onto the ARM Pi. Except I just clicked "install" in HA's addon store, so I'm not sure how it could be wrong. All my other add-ons seem to be working fine.
anyone seen this before? is it a KI in the latest release?
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both addons a few times, with no luck. Without those add-ons I can't get console access to try more debugging
Is there a way to backup addons with HA OS? I need to migrate to a larger SD card and have the "Full backup", but I know that this doesn't contain backups of addons_config as a past backup of an addon (that I deleted due to being out of storage space) was larger than the current Full Backup size
Full backups should include this.
they do, unless it's custom then your miliage may vary
Hmm, perhaps something changed with the config for the addon I was testing then
Anyway to trigger an addon backup just incase?
do a partial backup
So you do. That wasn't clear so I didn't even think of checking partial backup. Thanks for the help!
Unifi Protect add on is broken with the latest Protect beta. Just FYI for anyone thinking about upgrading.
are you talking about the #integrations-archived ?
in the docs it warns you not to update to betas
Understood, was just giving people a heads up. And yes sorry posted in wrong area.
Hey there, I'm experiencing cyclic CPU usage spikes and high disk read rates from the MariaDB add-on recently. Anyone has an idea what could be the root cause?
Well, what you use your database for? How did you check that?
im having some trouble with ngnx port forwarding. online port checkers say my port is closed when my router says it open and someone in general told me it could be that my ngnx is configured wrong
i blurred out my personal domain
but does anyone see something wrong
looks fine, what are the optional configuration at the bottom?
I'm having an interesting issue with a newly installed HaOS VM (running on Proxmox, using HAOS 12.0) that I then restored a recent backup to. The addons appear to be running (can see log messages) but they show as not running and clicking "start" causes a supervisor log message that says "XXXXXX addon is already running". I tried to reinstall an addon but the UI reported that there was an error and to check supervisor logs. However, I didn't see any error messages in the supervisor logs.
Yes, but I don't speak whatever dutch flavour that is
what is that toggle say
"show disabled ports"
and yes you are correct it is dutch
reset to defaults, hit that toggle, show me again
confirm the nginx addon is running, then from your machine, do 'telnet <HA IP> 443'
no setting for the nginx webui
that's a bit strange
what happens if you visit <HA IP>:81
page not accesible
yes it is
Could be, yes
i have the official one
the one you show is a community addon
but ill try that one
Ok, can you confirm the ports, and then the telnet command result?
Yes
Enable the telnet client from there
If the telnet (port query) is successful, the result should be a blinking cursor
That would confirm nginx is listening at that IP and on that port.
nginx login page
so far so good.
Now stop the un-official addon, start the official one.
Run the same telnet command.
blinking cursor
HAIP:81 does nothing now
That's expected
proximus bbox3
give me a moment
ugh, dutch specific 🙂
Ok, as far as you're aware, is there an active firewall running on the router box?
yes
So duckdns is running, nginx is running. The port forward is configured.
yes
Can we verify duckdns correctly updates your domain IP
idk can we? lol
cmd - nslookup - mydomain.duckdns.org
Server: UnKnown
Address: numbers igues
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: mydomainduckdns.org
Address: IP
replace <mydomain> with your domain name 🙂
hmm it isnt
but i have to go now
im back in an hour and a half or so if youll still have me then
is that fixable
Hello!
I have a home server with a number of applications such as HomeAssistant. These are accessed individually via different ports.
Now I want to reach my home server with a name instead of the local IP address. I have already installed nginx proxy manager and adguard (as AdBlock service), but after configuring nginx it still does not work. The page was not found it tells me. What should I do now?
Regards,
PolizeiDreamy
Insufficient info
You want to reach the HA instance by FQDN, ok?
(fully qualified domain name)
yes
You mean to say from external, or internal in the LAN?
internal
Then nginx doesn't come into play.
How do I do that then?
You need to configure your router / dhcp server to issue and manage a local domain suffix
on the dhcp is not with the ports
You're mixing / confusing things.
If all you want is to be able to say point your browser to homeassistant.lan:8123 in your browser
instead of 192.x.x.x:8123
You need to configure your router / dhcp provider
with that domain suffix
yes
i have the fritzbox
I'm not familiar with FritzOS capabilities and / or settings
But you should dig around in the interface
can I do it with Addon Adguard?
I don't think so.
That capability is linked to the DHCP server
which in your case (I'm asuming) is the FritzBox
Nothing to do with Nginx, AdGuard or HA.
I have set it so that the router (fritzbox) sends the DNS requests to Adguard
See if this helps you
Apparently the local default setting is fritz.box
If you have reserved the HA box IP in the Fritz
then you already should be able to type <whateveryourHAisnamed>.fritz.box
yes this it is
Then try http://HA.fritz.box:8123
replace HA with whatever name you used
(in the DHCP reservation)
this not work
Obviously - you need to replace HA with the name you used in the DHCP reservation screen in the FritzBox, for your HA box mac address
Alles gut/
hi im back
Look for a status page
didnt find it but i found somthing else intresting
an integrated dynamic dns provider
if that works reliably, then you don't need duckdns
found the "WAN MAC address"
nvm
how would i then integrate it withhomeassistant is the question
it does have a few providers possible
visit whatismyip.com | the compare the result with the IP information from duckdns.org for your domains
Well then no, that's just something that helps you configure DynDNS if you already have a provider from that list
which you don't
the whatsmyip.com is diffrent
ah lol
Are you sure the duckdns token has been correctly pasted in?
I would doublecheck that
then restart the duckdns addon
right - what do the duckdns addon log say
Nochange
[Timestamp] info ok
Wrong ip
Over and over again
With wrong ip i mean it does give an ip just thz wrong one
restart it
check the log again
Can you refresh your WAN IP
(usually disconnect / connect the pppoe or whatever connection you have)
or in simple terms, shut down your router for 2 mins.
i would rather not shutdown my router
once back up, check again with whatismyip.com, see if it changed
as my family is using the wifi
Well, the path you're on now, is to establish whether your ISP is using CGNAT
And whether you can potentially get around that, by trying to refresh your WAN IP
As internally, stuff is working.
ok if i understand correctly cgnat stops dynamic dns servers
but
if it has a help thing for dynamic dns providers
i would assume it wouldnt right?
simple terms, duckdns and CGNAT do not mix.
ah just specifically duckdns
That's the router default interface
doesn't mean the ISP supports that
not specifically duckdns
any dynamic dns
that is not provided by your ISP
yeah but i really cant restart the wifi at the moment
duckdns has an agent polling the internet, telling a DNS server somewhere that mydomain.duckdns.org is on this ISP, with this IP address.
and updating that DNS entry quickly
could i use another dynamic dns provider instead?
You could try, but if CGNAT is employed, it would not help you.
yeah but a dynamic dns provider that is supported by my isp
provided by, not supported
fair enough
Technically, by disconnecting the WAN connection, you are not killing the wifi, just the internet
🙂
Wifi will still work, but you would not be connected to the internet.
Well, then netflix is more mission critical than you figuring out the issue. So up to you 🙂
so you are sitll connected to the modem
no my parents are doing actual important things
and will probably kill me if i kill the wifi at this momet
Fair enough.
i just realised
the only thing i find of the wan
is the WAN MAC address
wich is not the WAN IP address is it
the dyndns thing
has an option "custom"
would that be possible or something?
my isp supports/provides no-ip
wich has a homeassistant integration
i have researched a lot more
the duckdns addon just doesnt detect the right ip
but the one it does detect is not a "non routable ip"
so according to my research it is probably not a cgnat problem
There is no "detection"
it tries to connect to the duckdns.org website
And update your domain with the public IP through which you exit
If it's unable to do that, it more often than not means one thing - CGNAT
If CGNAT is in play, your other solution would be your own domain (paid for) and cloudflare tunnels
or a better ISP
you probably need to purchase a static IP
or an addressable IP, most ISPs that do CGNAT also offer an IP that is available to get around CGNAT specifically for servers.
a cloudflare tunnel will get around that, or nabucasa, or a vlan
ngrok can also do this
I just made an add-on for a LCDproc client that pulls stats from Home Assistant to display on a remote LCDd server. Early release version but seems to work great for me. Feedback appreciated, and hopefully can be added to the Add-on store soon. https://github.com/rohbags/ha-lcdproc-client/
so this is for a "remote lcd" like a pi or something? i'm failing to see the use case or when to use it
also have a very bad taste in my mouth after waveshare pi TFT junk
Its for any device running a LCDproc server. I use it on my OpenWrt router (Orange PI R1 LTS) so now I can display HA data on the same display. Lots of different devices run LCDproc. I have my OpenWrt router in the same data cabinet as my HA pi, so im sure lots of people do the same. 1 LCD display in the cabinet showing data from different machines
i'll pass it along to others, definitely not something for me personally tho
but as far as your hope to get added to add-on store.. i dont believe that will ever happen
you just gotta post on reddit forums w/e and hope it gets traction to point to your github repo and have people manually add it
I built it for myself but if others want to use it thats fine. You might not be familiar with LCDproc but its actually very popular. It's been a feature request for 7 years and finally someone made it!
https://community.home-assistant.io/t/lcdproc-support/986
Hi all, if I could ask a question please. I migrated (via backup/restore) from a Pi to an x86 Mini PC. I've just noticed that Node-Red isn't connecting to the new broker address. error "[mqtt-broker:your Broker] Connection failed to broker: mqtt://192.168.1.248:1883" I can't seem to see anywhere to change the IP to the new one. Node-Red seems to running running fine, MQTT explorer can connect (on new IP), but I'm not getting updates since migration. Do I have to remove and re-install Node-Red?
More of a #node-red-archived question, no?
Sorry, scanned down and didn't spot that, thought Add-ons would be best, I'll post there. Thanks,
Hello, im trying to add dimmers for my led strips using Limitlessled config. Ive got Miboxer gateway. Newly created switches in HA dont work and firstly i want to rule out that HA is able to communicate with gateway, but i dont know how.
Can someone please point me in right direction with my problem? Im still learning about HA.
You wanted the #integrations-archived channel for help with integrations
#integrations-archived integrate Home Assistant with devices or services, or provide functionality within Home Assistant.
#add-ons-archived provide additional software or services, which an integration could possibility integrate with. Add-ons are for Home Assistant OS and Supervised only, other install methods can install software other ways.
Is it safe to update nginx now?
After the breaking change warning?
Update NGINX Home Assistant SSL proxy
3.8.0
Update Alpine Linux to 3.19
You have 3.7.0 installed. Click update to update to version 3.8.0
I remember the previous version that showed up had breaking changes warning so I left it because I dont ave time for the admin
Will this stil be the case?
Oh, okay, I tried to add Limitlessled as addon and it redirected me to yaml config. Thank you.
I have an issue with my AdGuard Home. Sometimes it just becomes unavailable for 5 minutes, with the logs saying "network unreachable". All devices connected to it then can also, inherently, no longer access the internet. After ~5 minutes it suddenly starts working again.
This started happening quite suddenly, no issues in the first 6 months of use. I did add a laptop/server to it shortly before it began happening, but no idea what the relation could be. That server is no longer using the DNS and the issue persists.
Studio Code Server always Always takes up 18% of memory. Is this a problem?
Of 4GB
Then that's entirely normal
Oh, thanks
Just recently updated and now the Advanced Terminal and SSH add-on isn't letting me connect over SSH sudo: unable to allocate pty: Read-only file system
The web version of the terminal works, but not through SSH. Anyone seen this?
I'd check the host and addon logs.

Which coordinator do you have?
The #zigbee-archived channel can best help, but make sure that you've not flashed the multi-protocol firmware, and that you don't have either the multi-protocol add-on or ZHA (may show as Sonoff...) integration enabled
I am currently struggling with my SMA integration: https://github.com/kellerza/hassio-sma-em?tab=readme-ov-file#home-assistant-sma-energy-meter-add-on
I got this running, but does anyone have an example what counters make sense?
I have a sonoff zigbee dongle (the old version) I ended up using ZHA because of its simplicity.
The P variant or the "normal" one? Because if you have any of those then you have the wrong driver. ezsp is for the E model.
i have my esphome addon set to auto update but its never updating. has anyone else experienced this? i think all my other auto updating addons work fine.
Hi, quick question, will wireguard still work as expected with the latest version of haos/ha? thanks
HA itself does not interfere with add-ons. HAOS or supervisor updates may - have not tested WireGuard with HAOS 12 myself.
Anyone else using the cloudflared add-on? My instance is no longer accessible
I think some braking change happened... but not sure
error error="failed to accept QUIC stream: timeout: no recent network activity" connIndex=1 event=0
Sorry, you'll have to wait for someone else. I can't help.
I powered down all the electricity, now back online and it does not work anymore
No problem. I'll try restarting my isp modem maybe that will help not sure
There's most likely a restart order to things
modem + network
then start HA
and if you have adguard, it'll complicate situations even more
Restarting my router fixed the issue lol
sounds about right
for what it's worth, the cost of nabucasa is really worth it for these edge cases like this. Otherwise you have to build ALOT to overcome power outages.
Just my 2c
i need to find a way how i can access my nextcloud addon folder (config/config.php)
i have the home assistant os
it's most likely not accessable unless the person who made the addon added the data to the addons folder
if you install samba share, and access the shared network folder (from another computer), you may be able to see the data
mhh i want to have accsess via wireguard and need to add the trusted ip, home assistant is working very well ;D
okey i can try it ;D
thx
my addons folder is empty..
Some add-ons save their configuration in /share

HA Add-ons by alexbelgium
Apparently the config is in /data/config/www/nextcloud/config/config.php.
You can check if/where that's mounted similar to this with the advanced SSH addon and disabled protection mode:
- #node-red-archived message
- #general-archived message
You can also just runfind / -name config.phpvia the SSH addon to see if you have access to it. If not you should probably speak to the maintainer(s).
find / -name config.php loading... nothing happens. is this the indicator for having no access?
No. Maybe your storage/hardware is slow or you have a lot of stuff.
no, it finishes and then i can write the next line. There is no output
Oh. Then yeah, it could not be found. Kind of funny, you reused my words but I interpreted them wrong. I write it off to hopping between multiple server/chats/channels every few seconds.
Today I Learned
i saw on google ;D thx
in portainer i see the different Volumes but i cant find them i the volumes i see in homeassistant
and how i can use the Advanced SSH & Web Terminal when i have the os version? i have no username or passwort
You define your own
in portainer
You might get a unhealthy warning soon: <#general-archived message>
he probably already has it, and won't be able to update when he gets the next update
Is the vaultwarden add-on local and is it safe to run it on HA Blue (0droid N2+) remotely accessed only via Tailscale (so HTTP only)?
It will not let you login via a http connection
what should the HA URL be in the VSCode addon config?
The Host URL of your Home Assistant Host```
local? 192.xxxx?
i'm not getting entity completion so i added a long lived access token, but don't know what to put for the
"Host URL"
What? There is no URL needed for the Studio Code addon
wait, so i should keep all the extension settings blank?
What are you talking about?
HAOS -> VSCcode Add-on -> Extensions ->
keesschollaart.vscode-home-assistant settings
Those are the available options for the Studio Code addon
right. i'm talking about when youre IN the browser IDE looking at the VS Code extension settings
the main problem is that when i'm editing YAML, i'm not getting any entity completion suggestions
Haven't ever put anything in there
am i not getting entity id completion due to another issue then?
i'm accessing it at http://192.168.86.36:8123/a0d7b954_vscode/ingress
maybe it's because it's not https?
Isn't working with http and https 🤔
let me check https
nope
http/https zero entity id completion in configuration.yaml

not sure if that's related

anyone willing to help out a noob with figuring out how to add NFL standings using the https://github.com/vasqued2/ha-teamtracker/wiki/Standings-Card to thier dashboard?

Is the vaultwarden add-on local and is it safe to run it on HA Blue (0droid N2+) remotely accessed via HTTPS?
@pine kayak I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
I can't figure out what is wrong with the addon....
the log just updates every minute or two saying it is starting the drivers for one of the three UPS
the integration won't see the addon at all either
ahh this loop i caught a log not show on each loop
@pine kayak I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
it didn't use to do that, it just showed no data for that UPS
this means in a failure scenario one bad UPS can take the NUT service down for all other UPSs - nice
Studio code server isn’t auto completing any more for some reason, it used to show all entities when I type light. for example
I made sure it’s enabled in the settings, reset the settings and reinstalled the add on but still, any way to fix it?
Atwixtor had the same problem. Setting a long lived token doesn't seem to help. You should report it to GitHub

Hello,
I can't access samba add-on home assistant OS from zero tier one add-on.
is it possible ?
Has anyone here used the rtl_433 add-on?
I can't seem to get it to work consistently with my homeassistant setup. The devices show up, but there's no entities underneath them.
I get this in my AdGuard log. Any clues?
I am doing a full reboot just in case. Also rolled back to .03 version but same thing.

Meh reboot 'fixed' it. My least favourite of fixes. It's back
You can copy & paste error messages from the logs
If it is longer than 15 lines, with a code sharing site
Please use a code share site to share code or logs, for example:
- https://dpaste.org/ (select YAML for the language, and consider picking a longer expiry)
- http://pastie.org/ (select YAML for the language)
- https://paste.debian.net/ (you guessed it, select YAML as the language)
Please don't use Pastebin, since it can randomly add spaces to the main view. Please also don't share text as images since it makes it harder for people to help you. Remember that others may have colour blindness, impaired vision, etc.

im tring to use duckdns and when duckdns starts, current ip of dns is setting to my laptop's ip address not my raspberry pi
Can add-on containers like Radarr, Prowlarr, etc be routed through the add-on instance of WireGuard or Tailscale? Or are these add-on versions only for external access to HA?
is it possible to restream a nest camera stream coming into HA to frigate so frigate can process it for faces?
if i could recommend: dont expose those services to the internet. Expose an instance of something like overseerr if youre trying to handle your media from outside. *arrs arent really meant to be exposed to the big bad world... they CAN, they shouldnmt be...
Thanks. Excuse my ignorance because I’m only learning about the *arrs, but isn’t prowlarr a tool similar to overseer? (EDIT: more research on my part answered this question for me) In either case, my original question remains, can an add-on like Overseerr be routed through the WireGuard or Tailscale add-on?
AdGuard add-on DNS completely flipping here locally. Are there any known issues with regard to that? It's so bad that when it starts i can't use internet
Seems ok currently. But was for 2 days and now it totally went apeshit again. The log is all timouts.
here's some snippets of it. https://dpaste.org/mDpOF
Any ideas?
This seems to be same issue: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdGuardHome/issues/6817
I have been smashing my head against this issue for hours now. I have MPD. It finally can play a damn mp3 file out of the device. It can plan any MP3 I want! but if I try to play a playlist then everything goes to shit. MPD gets buried in "exception: CURL failed: The requested URL returned error: 401" and the HAOS log gets a bunch of "Login attempt or request with invalid authentication from 243ffc37-mpd.local.hass.io". I've tried every single thing I can think of here, from making the IP of the add-on a trusted network, to trying to give it its own user (mpd let's you specify a user, but NOT a password), to changing both the file path and music directory configs in a thousand different ways. I'm at my wits end with this nonsense. I'm just trying to play a playlist for christ's sake
does anyone know if the influx add on includes chronograf as its front end?
Any one else have problems with AdGuard atm? I have really slow connection since few days. If i change DNS all works fine.
Same here. Noted it 2 days ago before updating to the newest version, but the update does not solved the problem.
does any one know how to use nginx proxy manager
i want to do a proxy host and host a website from my another local device
?
All the questions you've been asking over the past few days do not seem related to home assistant at all
this is not a general support forum
Actually i am building a home project for which i am getting some doubts for building
You do use or plan to use https://www.home-assistant.io/?
Hi tinker i am using zero tier sdn
While creating the proxy host i am doing some mistake
Well... nobody can read your mind
@violet fox Sadly we're not mind readers (any more anyway, not after the last time we tried). Please share the YAML and any errors so we can see what you've done.
He's just letting you know. Not really asking anything. 😂
actually i have a problem now, i.e i have a raspberry pi in my home and one VM in Hyderabad
both are connected with VPN
and ping is well established
but i am not able to map each of containers with subdomains with npn
You're still making it impossible to help you by not actually telling us what you're doing or what the errors you're getting are
Maybe you'd have more luck on a more general computer forum?
i have many containers in rasp pi
which i want to host using VM's static ip
from VM my pi is accessible but i am doing something wrong
To quote Petro... dude
What have you done?
What errors are you getting?
Help us help you

Coming from #general-archived. I am unable to access https from external url only http on external and internal url.
Using duckdns and nginx addons. I want to access my internal address when i am home and external when I am remote.
I have restarted nginx addon and home assitant but still could not get it to work
Have you set set up SSL in the NGINX add-on?
Do you have your DuckDNS add-on creating certificates?
ssl is setup, this is my config from the nginx addon
domain: -----.duckdns.org
hsts: max-age=31536000; includeSubDomains
certfile: fullchain.pem
keyfile: privkey.pem
cloudflare: false
customize:
active: true
default: nginx_proxy_default*.conf
servers: nginx_proxy/*.conf
Duckdns addon is creating the the certificates
What is better? To run Zigbee2MQTT and MQTT broker as an LXC seperate from my HA VM or install them as addons on my HA VM? (Proxmox Hypervisor)
One benefit of separating Z2M from HAOS is that it can stay online if you upgrade the OS, for example. Whether you personally benefit from that I can't say. I run most of my services as docker containers in a dedicated VM for that.
I prefer deploying each of my services in separate LXC containers, with each service backed up individually. This way, if there’s a mishap, I can restore that specific service without affecting the others.
By having Node-Red, MQTT, and Zigbee2MQTT in separate LXC containers, you can create automations thoughtfully within Node-Red to ensure that critical processes continue even if Home Assistant goes down.
Did you find a solution for it?
