Do you know how to backup only options.json config from addon? I have for example Git Exporter to backup config on git repository but HA backups it including whole repo copy. I already created discussion on developer's side but I'm not sure if it's issue with bad addon design or I can avoid it also with HA.
Anyone else having issues with adguard no longer working or blocking queries.
For some strange reason since 11-01-2024 adguard stopped working.
The weirdest part aside from updating HASS I haven't changed anything in terms of addons/integrations.
Nope. It is working as usual.
Its really weird. as queries aren't updating, and only show very little logs.
The only thing I can think of that might have caused it was a Power-outage due the utilities company working on the powerlines [with me shutting down HASS Completely, the night prior].
What would be things I could test that might resolve the issue?
Try something like nslookup google.com IPOFADGUARDHERE and check the adguard query logs.
If you're developing an add-on then #devs_add-ons-archived can better help
Do see the add-on dev docs though

I am trying to install bitwardn Add-on but I couldn’t access the admin.
I use Duck DNS to remotely access my home assistant instance. Example http://exampl.duckdns.org.
#when I try to access it http://exampl.duckdns.org/port/addmin. I am getting http://exampl.duckdns.org refused access.
Can you please help?
Thank you .
Hi all! Anyone here is using Grafana addon? I have an issue that from the value menu that i cant select "average'' and ''current''. Any idea why?
Ok. stumped... I was working on a fresh HAOS install on a NUC got it up and running and started configuring addons and ran into some SSL issues yesterday. This morning I started from scratch HAOS installed, added file editor plugin as my first, and when I click to go into the sidebar, I just get a 401: Unauthorized error. I was getting this before on the first install, but not until I started messing with configs, now on a fresh install I am getting it.. any thoughts?
Solved by going through Chrome Incognito Mode
force refresh in chrome
CTRL + f5 or CTRL + click reload button
it will request everything to not load from cache
where did you get that log from? Does it work now for you?
I got one now successfully.
It seems to be working now, was off last night
Is there a guide for updating the Nginx Proxy Managers for a newbie like me? I wrote down my existing proxies, installed the update logged in, change user. When I went to create my first one mystuff.duckdns.org it said that it already existed. Which actually makes sense. How or what do I need to copy to be able to set it up on the new plugin?
using influxdb would i remove everything that is named mariadb then ? 🙂
or are they working "together" somehow ?
when switching to v1.x.x you must configure everythign from scratch. Try uninstalling addon and installing it again
cant find any complete configuration.yaml as example just snippets out of it so hard to know if im doing it right 🙂
InfluxDB is running independently. It is not replacing MariaDB or SQLite
Buonasera ragazzi, ho un problemino con l'integrazione di bticino x8000 e con proxy manager, potete darmi una mano ?
In English, please
Ok, sorry. I have a problem with add-on x8000 and proxy manager . Could you help to fixx it ?
@elder schooner ok, so its just to be able to use grafana etc easier? so the same data is recorded to both ?
Basically yes. You can filter what to store in InfluxDB
I do not know grafana...but I can study it
Yes, I understand that however when I try to setup the same proxy it says it exists. I am not sure "who" is saying that. DuckDNS, Let's Encrypt, HA...
Yes, I'm using duckdsn and proxy manager to open only port router 443.
It's working well, but when I trie to use another service something go wrong
in my case I'm trying to use port 5588 about bticino service
wow, there noone that can help me ?
probably I'm using wrong chat, I suppose
i need some help with the homekit addon. i had it setup and working fine, upgrade HA today and now its saying it can't add the device because it would exceed the 150 device limit for a bridge
but none of the bridges i've configured have more than like 20 devices in them
HomeKit is an #integrations-archived
Yeah it's working now.. Long story, but my Duckdns would always never renew my Alias personal Domain.. I think I got it working now
Hi All, Recently installed ZWaveJS UI; got through uninstalling the ZWaveJS Addon, and i can control devices but none of the device names came over into ZUI. I can control the devices through both ZUI and my pre existing HA Dashboards, but not having the name and location data sync seems like something is missing.
It appears based on reviewing the jsonl files that were exported from the original config, the name property are blank?
{"k":"{\"nodeId\":33,\"commandClass\":119,\"endpoint\":0,\"property\":\"name\"}","v":"\u0000","ts":1705449098281}
{"k":"{\"nodeId\":33,\"commandClass\":119,\"endpoint\":0,\"property\":\"location\"}","v":"\u0000","ts":1705449099528}
Could I simply edit in ZUI? Any ideas? Presume new devices will be added and named when I add them.
Hi all! Anyone here is using Grafana addon? I have an issue that from the value menu that i cant select "average'' and ''current''. Any idea why?
Can you show a picture of the dropdown? Average is called "mean" for me. Not sure about current
Also speaking of grafana, does anyone know how to remove duplicates? I'm using a moving average that is getting messed up cuz it seems like there's a value logged even when there wasn't a changed. Confirmed this with looking at HA history too
I dunno why but I find it hard to get help with queries when googling

Hello, I've hopefully got an easy one: can someone send a picture of their DNSmasq config screen? (Obviously blur out any sensitive information) Looking for a valid example of the "Hosts" field.
The documentation on github has an example of the config from back when it was configured via yaml. I can't quite get the hosts field formatted in a valid way when I use that as a reference.
Needing some guidance for a new HAOS setup - I want to have external access (DuckDNS) and have it generating Let's Encrypt cert which appears to be installed properly (as well as a firewall rule that should allow trafic to the NUC on 8123, but when i disconnect my phone from wifi, It does not appear to be working. Ultimately I believe I also need/want NGINX setup for the internal URL, do I also need to install Letsencrpyt on its own? I do not have my own domain that I am utilizing.
Seeming to have issues getting different addons play nicely or recognize the certs/keys, there a specific order things should be setup in or a better way to go about these things?
@granite wasp DuckDNS add-on handles the LE cert. You do not need the stand-alone LE add-on. That would be for if you had your own domain that wasn't using duckdns.
It would be better to go the NGINX route, maybe with Nginx Proxy Manager which also handles certs using LE.
Ok that makes sense so far. I do have a domain I could use if needed for testing purposes. but was trying to get one thing at a time working, and even the DuckDNS step doesnt appear to be working off the bat, add on runs and gives no errors, but cant get to the page externally
Did you configure http: in configuration.yaml?
It's not enough to run the add-on and create the cert. You then need to configure HA to use it
I do have the Nginx ssl proxy installed, also running without error. Started with http: using the ddns lines with the ssl cert and key lines pointed to /ssl/privkey.pem
that is how Duck said to config it first, then NGINX says remove those and add the different config lines for http
use_x_forwarded_for: true
and trusted_proxies:
- my.localHA.IP.Address
These two add-ons and their configuration aren't compatible without some deliberation. Some choices need to be made first.
Ok, maybe thats where im getting my wires crossed
To free up the internal address to be used without ssl enforced, you would not want duckdns handling the certificate, along with the http: configuration for that
those cert and key lines need to go, and the add-on needs to be configured to not handle it. (accept terms: false)
Then you have NPM doing that instead, and your port forwarding needs to change
so deleted the Duck http lines, added the NGINX lines in config and disabled Duck adon to be false.
what about PF needs to change?
Hi, im trying to use homeassistant-addons-onstar2mqtt and when i configured and start the add-on i got this : error: Main function error. {"error":{"message":"Request Failed with status 401 - Unauthorized","request":
@granite wasp sorry, stepped away. the ports to forward would be 80 to 80 and 443 to 443 to your HA IP (or where npm is)
No worries, updated those fowards, so then in companion app internal just stays as http://homeassistant.local:8123 and external uses https://mydomain.duckdns.org ?
Do both of those addresses work right now?
You can connect locally using http://homeassistant.local:8123/ ?
Yep, http works internally
On a pc on network, as well as mobile device when on wifi, but disconnected it doesnt appear to work
So NPM would need to be configured with a proxy host entry for HA, and to get an LE cert. The http: config needs the use_x_forwarded_for: true and the trusted proxy address, which is actually the containers internal docker ip address or the network itself. You should be able to use - 172.30.33.0/24
and that 172 address is a universal/generic for HAOS container location I assume?
with the mask, it's the internal network the add-ons (containers) use
Ok, so updated that Http trusted address. do I also then need LE addon, or the one that Duck generated is ok?
Good to know, restarted everything and still no go externally
I direct messaged you here
Hello!
Happy user of Hass OS for a while, just wondering about some ports within the audio add-on.
I was wondering if there would be any way to open ports 9875 and 9876 for RTP usage so that I'm able to have PulseAudio on another device (a RPi 4B) act as both the Speakers and Microphone of the system, and though the configuration seems to be working, I'm not sure if it's even possible to open a port in a running Docker container, or to edit it after creation
Hi, I just got my new broadband today. Since I installed the new router, my external access to HA is broken. I forwarded the port but all I'm getting is an HA logo and "Unable to connect to Home Assistant." I think this may be something to do with IPv6 as my new ISP has it and my old one didn't
guys,
I have an issue with adguard fetching the cert from ngingx proxy manager...
Previously adguard would fetch the cert from /ssl/nginxproxymanager/live/npm-46/fullchain.pem
Now I've updated to the new location /addon_configs/a0d7b954_nginxproxymanager/letsencrypt/live/npm-1/fullchain.pem
However adguard cannot get it and displays the error message: reading cert file: open /addon_configs/a0d7b954_nginxproxymanager/letsencrypt/live/npm-1/fullchain.pem: no such file or directory
Maybe there's a permission issue?
Were you using duckdns-dnsmasq to get in? Also dealing with new router woes w/ those two add ons.
If you get to the Home Assistant logo it sounds like the port is forwarding correctly. Unless the splash page is cached?
Bumping this, all I need is a screenshot from someone with a working setup please
Duck DNS and Nginx
Hello everyone, i have a little probleme, and i think i m not alone, i install node red add on on my HA (rasp pi 4) but when i try to launch it, it don't work and it propose me to start (again) the add on. it's probably simple but i don't see the solution for the moment, thank you 🙂
#node-red-archived will probably be better able to help you, at least if you share the error you're getting in the add-on logs
oups i didn't see sorry
I just tried it in a private window and my browser is saying "ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR"
It worked fine with my old ISP and router. Now it's gone, I'm realising just how much I used the app to do stuff around the house. The local port 8123 presentation is working fine
What if you do http:// instead?
That works but it shouldn't. My whole aim introducing nginx was to make it HTTPS so I wasn't throwing my creds across the internet in the clear
So, your port forwarding is going direct to HA
You need to change that so it goes to the proxy
Thank you. After a very long day rebuilding my network, I was a moron, indeed 😆
Anyone using grafana know how to map an entity attribute?
I can get it to map in Lovelace but can't figure out the UI in grafana to map to not the first attribute (name)
Hi guys. I got an issue with just 1 esphome device out of 7. It's an everything presence lite. Basically there's an update and it is always failing to install.
Part of the log where that begins to fail below:
Building wheel for cryptography (pyproject.toml): started
Building wheel for cryptography (pyproject.toml): still running...
Building wheel for cryptography (pyproject.toml): finished with status 'error'
error: subprocess-exited-with-error
× Building wheel for cryptography (pyproject.toml) did not run successfully.
│ exit code: 1
I'm not sure how I can fix this. I spoke with Lewis from Everything home and he told me I may need to uninstall and re-install ESPHome. That said because it's working fine for other esphome devices I wonder if there is something else at play here
Thank you for your help 🙏🏻
My Mqtt integration will not print topics in the Mqtt integration however it will publish topics back to equipment. On the listening side, I can see the item in the listing port, except for one device. However, in the Tasmota integration, it works.
Hi, I am having some trouble with external HTTPS access, when setting duckdns as showed in the doc it doesn't want to create teh certs, and gets blocked at token line :
Solution found : There was an invisible blank space in the config when pasting the token, make sure there's nothing else but the token, --> edit config as YAML
What do the add-on logs show?
I am restarting it
well now barely nothing with only a warning, don't know why, but I'll reset the config
Ok it's showing
# INFO: Using main config file /data/workdir/config
So i should probably find that folder
Ok
Every add-on, every piece of software, is run in another container
Now I have something else :
+ Received 1 authorizations URLs from the CA
+ Handling authorization for walpha.duckdns.org
+ 1 pending challenge(s)
+ Deploying challenge tokens...
ERROR: deploy_challenge hook returned with non-zero exit code```
Something I can't access even outside ?
@tired kettle When using Discord's Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Use Shift + click on the Reply option, or click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
You have to change this every time (thank the Discord devs for that).
Sorry
Correct, because the paths are inside the container
However, your error there is why you don't have certs
Ok, the logs aren't showing anything else
Sorry I deactivated it
Each damn time
read the bot message
You have to change this every time (thank the Discord devs for that).
Great, so... check your add-on conf, because that's probably the problem
won't ping again
Somebody else can help you there
ok thanks for everything
Maybe changing the bot to display in bold and capitals that it has to be done every time 😅
does anyone know how I can connect to MQTT within a python AddOn? I am receiving authentication error but I don't know which user/password to use. I would like to use a default one which does not need setup.
You'll have to create a user (in HA) - there's no default one, which would be terrible security
okay - is there a different way to create a Device from within python without sending MQTT Discovery Messages?
Create an integration that does it
whats the AddOn for then?
#integrations-archived integrate Home Assistant with devices or services, or provide functionality within Home Assistant.
#add-ons-archived provide additional software or services, which an integration could possibility integrate with. Add-ons are for Home Assistant OS and Supervised only, other install methods can install software other ways.
hmm.. I am not sure. I have setup a Thread Border Router and in this Thread Network there is a device which sends UDP pakets containing some information. I would like to receive this UDP Pakets and translate them into a device. Its a Sensor sending temperature, pressure, humidity and light information
Well, the starting point is having something process those packets
Not sure, but if it's a Thread device surely it should work with the #thread-archived integration?
the device already works but it is not sending Matter or any other known information. It simply just sends UDP Pakets.
which looks like this: thread_tags/8C8C14D62739A191{"alive":2448,"voltage":3.338,"light":120.406,"temperature":21.86,"humidity":27.70,"pressure":1007.83}
I need to translate this information into a Device of HA. My idea was to receive the UDP (which already works as an AddOn) and send thtis info via MQTT like MQTT Discovery from HA which then will create a Device
but I am not sure if this is the right way
maybe it can be done much easier
MQTT is the simplest way
except I have to create User/Password
Sure
is there a different way besides MQTT? to create this Device Entity and update it without using MQTT Discovery?
Build an integration
integrations are how you add devices/entities to HA
MQTT is one, building your own is another
okay then I will look into integrations
@jade wing it is actually not needed to set credentials for MQTT! https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/add-ons/communication#services-api
The AddOn can "ask" for the credentials if it requests its usage
services:
- mqtt:need
if ! bashio::services.available "mqtt"; then
bashio::log.error "No internal MQTT service found"
else
bashio::log.info "MQTT service found, fetching credentials ..."
export MQTT_HOST=$(bashio::services mqtt "host")
export MQTT_USER=$(bashio::services mqtt "username")
export MQTT_PASSWORD=$(bashio::services mqtt "password")
fi
Good
Hi Tinkerer, I found the solution, there was a blank space that was invisible in the GUI, when pasting the token, I removed it and it works now, thanks for helping me !
hi. Having an issue with addons that you configure to show in sidebar is disappering after a little while. If I reboot HA they come back, if I go into the addon screen and turn off and on show in sidebar it shows back up. But after a whle they disappear again. Is this a known issue or is there something I can look at. thanks
Can I use the nginx proxy addon also with private certs? And where do I find the config file for the nginx proxy addon? NPM doesn't allow private certs anymore 😦
That would be surprising if you're saying a proxy doesn't allow you to specify your own certificate
can anyone help with the publishing of my addon? I have the git-repo https://github.com/open-thngs/home-assistant-sensor-tag-addon
and I tried to use this as an action: https://github.com/home-assistant/builder
but it does not work and I do not understand the error message, neither do I understand what I am doing there tbh.
https://github.com/open-thngs/home-assistant-sensor-tag-addon/actions/runs/7584630951/job/20658726845
I don't really get the whole docker - github action - publish workflow
#devs_add-ons-archived is the place to be for that
I can say that appears to be false... perhaps you're clicking the "Add SSL Certificate" button in the middle of the screen in NPM? No idea why they decided to make that default to LE certs, but in the upper right there's a custom option that allows you to provide the cert and key
If I wanna add a new certificate to nginx proxy manager there's only the option to choose a lets encrypt certificate.
🤷♂️ I just grabbed the latest version and I see Custom as shown in the above screenshot
Ah damn.....sorry you're right. With the upper right button it's still possible to add custom certs
@bitter skiff Thank you for your help!
You bet
ANyone able to help troubleshoot the following from NPM: cannot load cert: "/etc/letsencrypt/live/npm-3/fullchain.pem ... no such file or dir
What's supposed to generate those certs?
I am using DuckDNS, and tried to create the SSL through NPM but get an error on generating new, (Inernal Error)
My proxy host shows as Offline in NPM currently, but it did at some point generate a Lets Encrpyt cert on the SSL page, it just shows with the red outline shield when i try to select though
see this in the NPM add on startup: conflicting server name "myddnsname.duckdns.org" on 0.0.0.0:80, ignored

I installed the vscode editor.. Every time I use it it complains about trusting authors and being accessed via insecure context. I went to the link and did what ti said yesterday and the trust message didn't appear anymore. But, today, it's back. How do I permanently get rid of these?
Are you visiting HA viahttps?
No, I just use homeassistant:8123
So then you're still doing what it says. Accessing it via an insecure context.
If I use https: it say the ssl received a record that exceeded the maximum possible length...I I just followed the install instructions. I've never seen anything about accessing it any other way.
You need to set SSL up before you can use it
Huh? Why doesn't installing the addon handle that, or at least bring up as an option during the install. I've never run into that with vscode on other platforms.
Because HA handles all of that
Ok, so, apparently I have more setup to do. Where is the "HA for Dummies after install extra stuff you need to do webpage"? 😎
For SSL you need a hostname/domain, and to use that when accessing HA
getting certs / SSL is always the biggest pain imo
DuckDNS is a popular option, but not the only one
Behind my own firewall?
Why is vscode on my network going outside my network to access files on the same hardware that vscode is running on....I'm confused.
Is there anyone who has gotten a USB microphone to work with Rhasspy running as an addon on a Raspberry Pi 4 with 32bit HA OS?
The guides I could find suggested the use of the Assist Microphone addon which is not compatible with 32bit.
Anyone know if there's an addon for RCON data to show up in HASS? I fully expected there to be something but can't see anything in google
There is a custom integration for Minecraft servers, which uses RCON. 🤔
good morning
in case someone is searching a similar issue - i have solved it now with the alexa advanced media player -> mediola is connected with alexa - HA is connected with alexa and with the media player i can use custom commands like "close the shutters"
not the most elegant solution but it works and i'm happy
Hey y'all, trying without much luck to get Z2M working. I have a Sonoff and skyconnect usb dongle, and I currently use zigbee without issues. Whenever I configure the USB settings it doesn't seem to find the USB stick. I have tried /dev/ttyUSB0 and ttyACM1 without any luck. Any suggestions?
How are you currently using Zigbee? ZHA? Both cannot talk to the same dongle
According to the zigbee integration, I am using SkyConnect https://imgur.com/a/UXVwvSR
And your goal is what?
If I go further into settings for the zigbee integration it says i am using the Sonoff, though. https://imgur.com/a/gPE7uc0
I don't care which hub I use for zigbee, i just want to be able to use z2m.
Like I said, you can't have two things talking to the same dongle at the same time
right. so I can have zigbee setup through skyconnect and z2m setup through sonoff, yeah?
Yes
Let me attempt migrating the zigbee radio from sonoff to skyconnect and try again with z2m
Alright so I was able to get the zigbee integration setup through the skyconnect and I am now attempting the sonoff as z2m. I am still receiving a similar error, https://imgur.com/a/mB2JyVd
Hello everyone. I'm wondering how I would add a custom add-on while using HA Core? I have HA installed through TrueNAS SCALE. Any pointers?
HA core as in installed using Python?
yes.
In that case you don't get add-ons
HA OS Add-on support! Additional, standalone, applications that can run on Home Assistant OS. Your user profile needs to have Advanced Mode enabled for some add-ons to be visible in the store.
ok, that's what I was trying to figure out.
Looks like i have the E version of the sonoff hub, which resquires a special line at the end of the configuration file...
What is the simplest way I could get a docker container from dockerhub running safely as a custom add-on on Home Assistant OS?
I was looking at the documentation for creating add-ons, but I am a beginner and don't understand it.
It's probably not something that you should attempt unless you want to dig into the documentation
Could you please just try to point me in the right direction? I'm sure I can figure it out if I at least know where to start...
You said that you looked at the docs and didn't understand them
If you have more specific questions, I suggest asking them in #devs_add-ons-archived
Hi everyone,
I have a question about full backups. It is not clear for me whether a full backup includes addons data/volumes or not.
Do anyone know that?
Internet says "all configurations", but what about the data?
Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone!
I'm trying to install HACS on my HA, but I cannot get it to work:
I run the wget command, restarted HA and I can now see the files in
/root/homeassistant/custom_components/hacs
but when I go to the add-ons from the UI I don't see it.
I run HA OS on a raspberry
what can I do?
I think it goes to devices and services
HACS is not an add-on. #integrations-archived might be able to help
When using vscode, when I paste existing, well formated, yaml in to a file, all the indentations are multiplied. And, thus producing bad formatted yaml. Is this a setting in vscode that is doing some tab expansion?
Is there any way to convert addon configuration files for use with standalone docker? I THINK these addons are actually docker containers but from what I saw in the past, their configuration files are not generic enough to port directly to docker.
There is an API layer, so it is not just configuration files
If you want to use a piece of software with Docker (e.g., Node-RED), please consult the documentation/project of that software (e.g., the Node-RED documentation)
Understood. It's unfortunate as I'm seeing tons of tutorials doing good stuff with these addons. I'm in a spot, and have been, where I'd like to use addons but really don't see where virtualizing HA would be beneficial outside of these addons as I'm running about 25 contianers in addition to HA. I believe I'd end up having to keep adjusting the virtualized HA to give more resources and potentially 'robbing' resources from the other containers. I may be overthinking all of this but it certainly would be nice to have these addons without having to reorganize my HA install which has been working great since I started with 0.36 bare metal install and then moved to Docker. Apologies as this may be taken more as a rant than anything. I am certainly not owed anything.
I suggest just focusing on the software that you want to install and the documentation and resources available for it. It all existed before addons and is used outside of the addon and HA ecosystem
Starting with addons and working backward seems...backward
Good point. To this point, I have not had a situation where I could not find a workaround. I'm looking at Music Assistant now and do see that a docker version does exist and I'll give that I go. My assumption is that some addons exist that are solely addons. I guess I'm jealous of the ease of install of these but also like the way I have things now as well. I certainly cannot see ever running on a Pi ever again but in the same breath HassOS has at least one feature that I'd like to have. /rant over 🙂
I started with HAOS and enjoyed the ease of installing addons… until I got frustrated with the inflexibility of them. I’m now on HA core in Docker and I’m glad I made the transition.
Hmm...is it the rainbow indent thing in vscode that is configured wrong?
Hey, I'm using NGINX with duckdns to encrypt my nonlocal traffic, but if I try to connect to my public domain from within the network I don't get access to the server. Is there any way to be able to access home assistant locally both encrypted and unencrypted? I want to controll home assistant from google home but since I cannot access hassio encrypted within the network it can't get a connection :(
I have tried using only duckdns without NGINX to connect to my home assistant, but then I wasn't able to access home assistant unencrypted
You need to disable DNS rebind protection for that domain in your router afaik

Hi, I have esphome installed on Home Assistant and I can flash esp32's from the edge/chrome connected to usb on windows computers, but doesn't seem to work on Linux using edge/chrome. I get a dropdown to pick the right serial port and after that nothing happens. Does this not work on Linux?
Hey all,
Im having trouble with the Zigbee2mqtt add-on.
I've installed the mosquitto broker and its running.

retrying or waiting doesnt solve it
Addition: im getting 502: bad gateway
Almost couldnt see it because of dark mode....
I assume you have set the MQTT broker and credentials and serial port in the add-on's settings?
The github page is telling me:
Click on Configuration
If you are not using the Mosquitto broker addon fill in your MQTT details (leave empty when using the Mosquitto broker addon)
I am using the Mosquitto broker addon so i left everything empty
port: /dev/ttyACM0
thats the device path I found in ther hardware tab
to my conbee2 zigbee stick
And is that actually the port your coordinator is at? And isn't is already in use with ZHA or Deconz?
I've had ZHA installed previously when i had HA on a VirtualBox VM (running on linux)
But I've reinstalled HA on Proxmox this morning.
It's running on the same device so i';m not sure if i can acces the old VM. It shouldnt be running.
Forgot to make a back-up when it was running on virtualbox so i'm reinstalling everything (luckily not much..)
Any error messages (not marked with info) in the add-on's logs?
Zigbee2MQTT:error 2024-01-21 23:24:17: Error: Failed to connect to the adapter (Error: SRSP - SYS - ping after 6000ms)

Ah... you are trying to use a Conbee stick with Z-Stack
Not on purpose 🙂
Try
adapter: deconz```
You might consider to use another device path. The /dev/ttyACM0 might change. It is usually better to use the /dev/serial/by-id/... path. For a Conbee2 it should look similar to /dev/serial/by-id/usb-dresden_elektronik_ingenieurtechnik_GmbH_ConBee_II_DE1962254-if00
You can find your id-path with ls /dev/serial/by-id/
I'll do that, thanks
Is it possible to setup fail2ban for ha_core and vaultwarden behind reverse proxy npm addon on OVA Haos image? Issue #41 on github for vaultwarden addon says its not possible but that's 3 years old.
hey i have a problem, i want to install the portainer addon on hassio but when i but the github link i have this error message
"https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-portainer is not a valid add-on repository"
Portainer will also make your system unhealthy and unsupported.. don't do that to yourself
PS: did you visit that URL at all?
You either need somebody to create an add-on, create your own add-on, or run it somewhere else
From a quick Google it looks like there is one, but it's deprecated and will be going away
https://github.com/fredrikbaberg/ha-3dprinter-addons may work for you... but that's just from a quick Google search
Since a week I cannot access my HA via samba share. Finder simply says "there was an error" and that's it. Any idea what might cause this?
What do the add-on's logs say?
Nothing, but I just noticed, that I even cannot access HA via the local DNS or IP. I usually use nabucasa.
So there seems to be something wrong in my lan.
Hi, i have setup an esp32 for esphome and enabled the web_server part. All works fine.
I have one button there. I looked at the webserver api part, but cannot figure how i can post the right url to activate the button switch from an external call. Can anybody show me how the post url should look like? I try to POST the url from Falcon FPP but can't figure how the data should look.
@chilly olive HA OS Add-on support! Additional, standalone, applications that can run on Home Assistant OS. Your user profile needs to have Advanced Mode enabled for some add-ons to be visible in the store.
That doesn't seem to be add-on related. #diy-archived or the ESPHome Discord might be more suitable
Not add-on related. Head to #frontend-archived
I'm trying to get this addon to work. It connects to a device using BLE and is supposed to send that data over MQTT
the instructions are vague about mqtt
"Set MQTT user and password. MQTT broker is usually core-mosquitto."
how would I go about setting it up. right now i get no errors, when I try adding stuff to the yaml i start getting publish errors
I see this in the log Sending HA discovery for jk_envision_305 (num_samples=3756)
Figured it out. I need to remember that for teh broker the only thing that works is the IP of the HAOS device. core-mosquitto doesn't work. homeassistant.local doesnt work
Which broker are you using? Where/how is it hosted/installed
hi guys, any ideas where to find the ddf files for devices for the deconz addon via ssh? thanks! Using HomeAssistant OS
To do what exactly? I'd recommend running something like this via SSH find / -name '*ddf*'.
I'm not familiar with deconz so I can't give you a better example. You might also need debug SSH access depending on where the files are stored.
wanna use a device which is currently not supported by the deconz addon version available...wanted to bring that jason in to use the device.
it's about this ddf: https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-rest-plugin/blob/master/devices/ikea/rodret_dimmer.json
needs to be in here: root@core-deconz:/usr/share/deCONZ/devices/ikea
Hi, just a quick question: does the VLC add-on support video playback?
Hi all! Probably an hard question:
Do you think it's possible to create an add-on that displays a browser in a monitor connected to the raspberry pi where HA OS is running?
The idea is to run the HA GUI in the display.
I haven't found any add-on doing something like this. correct me if I'm wrong.
I found this docker image that seems a good starting point:
https://hub.docker.com/r/thomaskatalis/rpi-kiosk
HAOS doesn't support a GUI, and an addon can't change that
if you want to install a desktop Linux distribution and run HA in a container, you can run a browser and do whatever you want
I have just installed the Postgres/timescale and Grafana addons. Internally they all work fine. But I reaaly want to get access to the postsgress DB remotely and I cant find any clear instructions to do that
add-ons are docker images. And if that docker image can run a GUI in in Raspbian lite, maybe it can do it in HA OS too.
Since the addons communicate locally as docker images I wonder if we can have external and internal communication at the same time
Also I used PGadmin to export some CSV data, but that seems to stay hidden in the docker container as well. I have Samba installed but this doesnt appeat to show the posgress addon files.
does anybody know how to reach these files externally
Hey all, I am trying to wrap my head around Spotify / Spotcast / Google Home speakers as it relates to groups.
For some reason, speaker groups in the GH app can be unreliable, but if I play media directly to a group that contains the same devices, it works fine.
Is there a way to use an HA media player group as a target player in Spotify?
I've installed both Spotify and Spotcast but as I understand it, the devices needs to be exposed in the Spotify API (play something on it) for it even to come up as a playback device in HA?
I actually just created one. Let me test my last build and then I upload it
I'm uploading now, but beware, at the moment it's just a proof of concept/beta/WIP
WiP x server add-on
I think you have a typo in your add-on's config.yaml
command: "firefox-esr --kiosk jttp://localhost:8123/" should likely be
command: "firefox-esr --kiosk http://localhost:8123/"
Thx, pushed fix
But there is something strange with the GitHub actions: for i386 it downloads armhf packages.....
Anyone here using Grafana / influxDB? I'm trying to map an entities attribute and i can't for the life of me figure out the code to get the attribute into grafana
i figured out the loveless tile to display it but can't get the code right to get it into grafana
#analytics-archived might be able to help
thank you, i will check
Is this normal behavior?
Or is something in GitHub actions broken?
The ARG BUILD_FROM in the Dockerfile looks odd. I don't think, the # is right there - but I'm no expert. And you are using an old base build. The actual stable version is 7.3.1.
And in the build.yaml you defined
armv7: ghcr.io/hassio-addons/debian-base/armv7:7.2.0
armhf: ghcr.io/hassio-addons/debian-base/armv7:7.2.0
i386: ghcr.io/hassio-addons/debian-base/armv7:7.2.0
Armv7, armhf and i386 as armv7 image
Run build for ghcr.io/lanealucy/haos-addon-xserver-i386:0.1.11 with platform linux/386
Get:13 http://deb.debian.org/debian bookworm/main armhf systemd armhf 252.19-1~deb12u1 [2933 kB]
this is from testing. old is ok for now
added the missing ones
Now it looks like it's using the right packages
Thx
btw, here is a command for my x server addon to watch twitch:
xrandr && xrandr --output HDMI-2 --mode 720x480 && streamlink https://www.twitch.tv/gronkhtv 480p -O | ffmpeg -hwaccel auto -re -i pipe:0 -c:v h264 -c:a aac -strict -2 -f mpegts - | ffplay - -fs -x 720 -y 480
dont wonder why so small resolution, my mini pc just cant handle more XD
Hi, I'm trying to configure **piper **and **whisper **to work with the Wyoming Protocol, but I can't get them to work.
Initially I installed piper and whisper, and they were discovered in home assistant. I hit configure and everything seemed fine, but when I was trying to use whisper it would say "stt-stream-failed".
I read that I had to do set a port and configure it manually so I'm trying to add a device with core-piper as host and 1200 as network port, as set into the piper config, the addon is started, but it says "connection failed" when trying to add the device.
I would appreciate any help I can have, thanks
#voice-assistants-archived can help with those
Ok thanks 👍
Are there any gurus of the vscode addon and rainbow indent ?
Anyone else with the VLC add-on's UI not working anymore?
when using InfluxDB and Grafana --> can i setup HA like this that these addons are not installed on the same VM like HA ? I want to use seperate LXCs for these addons - is this possible and if yes where do i found the correct installtion guide ?
Yes you can, and just follow any non-HA specific guide
Okay, please understand i am beginner with HA and i dont understand your explanation 😦 what does it mean with "non-HA specific guide" ?
You want to install Grafana in LXC?
Then google install grafana in LXC
installing like that has nothing to do with HA - so you don't want to look for any HA guide
yes ok understand ... but do i need to install in HA also the grafana addon ? i thought this is also an install ?
No
#integrations-archived integrate Home Assistant with devices or services, or provide functionality within Home Assistant.
#add-ons-archived provide additional software or services, which an integration could possibility integrate with. Add-ons are for Home Assistant OS and Supervised only, other install methods can install software other ways.
or lets better make the example to influxdb --> its also on seperate LXC and who do i tell HA to store the data in other influxdb ?
Did you read the bot message?
Ah ok there is a difference between integrations and the add ons
That's why they have different names 😉
i have to use addons when influxdb is another LXC
No
No
No
You have to use the interation to talk to the software - regardless of how you install that software
install it as an add-on, or in LXC, or on the moon... doesn't matter
integrations are how HA talks to software (and other things)
Ok so Influxdb is a separate service there i can manage it with an integration inside HA
i didnt got it yet 😦
The influxdb integration is how HA talks to the influxdb software you installed somewhere
Okay that was what i wanted to say ... 🙂
i assume in the integration i give the seperate IP of the influxdb software whereever it is
Yes
hey im using the mealie addon from alexbelglium, and today i've been getting this error when trying to start it up
PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/config/addons_config/mealie_data/.secret'
here's the full traceback. didnt change anything so any idea whats wrong here?
https://dpaste.org/h4NXk
yeah, im already using the omni one
Question, i have several devices in esphome, but i can't update the devices in esphome anymore. The only way i can update the devices is in a windows command window and in the installed windows esphome. does somebody know how i can update the devices in homeassistant again?
Hi, have anyone used UptimeKuma with Monitortype Docker Container?
So I am trying to do this:
https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/91987
TLDR add a vesync air purifyer to HA
but I cant seem to have any devices enabled for it?
Hi again. Can someone help me with duckdns and nginx addons? I'd like to talk PM if that is permitted
I don't know what I did or did not but it just started to work by it's own...
Is the vscode server considered an addon? If not, where should questions about it be asked?
Depends, did you install it as an add-on?
Yes
I can't figure out why, when accessing HA/vscode, it multiplies the number of indents when pasting. But it only happens on the browser on one PC, from other PC's paste works fine and preserves correct indents.
hi
Well, I have in my network a Shelly Plus H&T (fw: 20240105-142929/1.1.1) my Home assistant in core version 2024.1.5. The automatic detection does not work, while the window sensor is well discovered by the shellyForHass plugin is well up to date. Can you help me thank you
You wanted the #integrations-archived channel
#integrations-archived integrate Home Assistant with devices or services, or provide functionality within Home Assistant.
#add-ons-archived provide additional software or services, which an integration could possibility integrate with. Add-ons are for Home Assistant OS and Supervised only, other install methods can install software other ways.
It shows up in the Addons. I note there is a community version as well. It is apparently something to do with the desktop manager on Debian/XFCE using Firefox. Using Firefox on Plasma or GNOME does not exhibit the issue.
No idea, I don't use add-ons so there's no point in tagging me with replies 😉
Ok, sorry. You never use addons? Do they create problems?
@median arch When using Discord's Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Use Shift + click on the Reply option, or click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
You have to change this every time (thank the Discord devs for that).
@median arch
Again, there's no need to tag me in every reply... really
And no, I don't use them because I don't use HAOS
Again, sorry, other servers posts tend to get mixed into multiple conversations.
And ... you did it again
Never mind, I'll never bother answering you again... problem solved 😉
I had home assistant exposed to the internet working via the letsencrypt plugin plus the the NGINX Home Assistant SSL proxy plugin. however the cert expired and i cant seem to get it working again. Im using home assistant OS on a raspberry pi
ive run the letsencrypt plugin and waited for it to finish and restarted the nginx plugin but my browser reports the cert is outdated
im not sure if letsencrypt isnt renewing the cert or if nginx is just not looking at the new one

hey all - I have reverse proxy via nginx working in web browser, but when I try to set up the mobile app it gives a 404 error. I can't seem to find any relevant logs to help debug/troubleshooot. I used https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/tree/master/nginx_proxy and already went through troubleshooting steps here: https://companion.home-assistant.io/docs/troubleshooting/networking#addendum-reverse-proxy-via-nginx
Any idea what I need to do to troubleshoot further? This is the error I'm getting https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/562408603345092636/1199966614263713832/Screenshot_20240124-2237372.png?ex=65c476ff&is=65b201ff&hm=f79537799ff7494d112d85e6be4cb373b3c14320aa3d37e7981c08b453e262d3&=&format=webp&quality=lossless&width=454&height=1009

There is a pinned message in #voice-assistants-archived with container instructions
Does the Unifi Protect Add-on not work with their Doorbell as a camera?
Are you asking about the Unifi protect integration? You can get help with that over in #integrations-archived
I am using the G4 Doorbell Pro with no issues
hi
I would like to know if a plugin is compatible with wiser energy EER39000 from Schneider which is in zigbee
The #zigbee-archived channel can help with Zigbee, but there's no plugins here
Hello for all! Help) After some kernel updates I stopped running FileEditor addon, please advise what to do? How to edit files?
The page completely hangs at http://homeassistant.local:8123/core_configurator/ingress
@solid sedge what are the addon logs showing?
hello, is there a easy way to adjust the brightness of an lamp (like you can turn on, off or toggle) (in node-red)
#node-red-archived can help with Node Red
on trigger, can I have a list of entities ?
in an addon?
there's a whole page in the docs on triggers: https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/automation/trigger/
and you probably wanted #automations-archived
you are right
so I suppose this is correct, right ?
trigger:
- platform: state
entity_id:
- sensor.double_take_elisia
- sensor.double_take_dennis
- sensor.double_take_eleni
- sensor.double_take_kaiti
- sensor.double_take_makis
from: Unavailable
to: frontdoor_camera2
Again, the right channel would be #automations-archived
guys I apologize again
Please use the right channel - it helps everybody 😉
I pressed this channel by mistake
Yeah sorry should have worded it properly, I've just picked up a non Pro Doorbell and its not showing up, only my cameras
In the logs all is well, but in fact the page hangs and does not open. Changed browser - it doesn't help.

Hey guys. I using the Bookstack addon. After reinstalling my HostAssitant Host i changed the IP. Now all references in bookstack are looking to the wrong ip. How can i update bookstack to use the new IP? Entering the container and using the php artisan bookstack:update-url <oldUrl> <newUrl> command is not working. I get this error after confirming all safety questions: "In Connector.php line 70: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory"
Im using File Editor V5.7.0
and have been for years... lately its been showing a "homeassitant" Folder in the root folder, and when you click on it, its takes you to the root folder and is just an endless loop if you keep clicking on it
im about 60% sure its the same files... but the path keeps changing /homeassistant/homeassistant/homeassistant
just double checked... when I make a change in the root .config file and then go deeper
/homeassistant/homeassistant/homeassistant/configuration.yaml
its reflects the change in all of the configs..
Hello everybody,
short question, is there a possiblity to restore the grocy db from another docker file into the HA grocy addon?

Hi there, i wanna use the Duck DNS integration but am running HA on a docker container, is htere a way i can still use it?
This channel is about add-ons, not integrations
And yes, #integrations-archived work regardless of how you run HA
Is Duck DNS not an Add on?
you guys know what i mean
Docker HA cannot run add-ons
No, we don't
if you don't use the right words we can't begin to guess what you mean
The good news for you is #add-ons-archived message
ok, i got the worn word, sorry am new to this

My zigbee sticks path is /dev/ttyUSB0
i will try in the zigbee channel thank you ^^
Hi, I'm trying to get my Honeywell total connect confort working with home assistant. I read the documentation on the website but I'm having issues with the . yaml file I think.
This is the error I get when trying to turn it on
Failed to call service climate/set _hvac_mode. Unsupported/unknown mode: Heating0ff
Can you point me in the right direction? I have been trying to find some configuration that I could use as example too but didn't find any
Do you mean the Honeywell #integrations-archived in HA? This channel is for add-ons.
Here I can ask for help in setting up the nginx proxy manager
and in the vsc extension?
I can't access it from an external network and I think the error is here, because it didn't work as described, on my plain ipc it can't be accessed unless I write 8123 behind it and redirect 8123 to 443 in the wifi and then back to 8123 in the proxy
the whole thing is complete chaos :c

What's the config look like
looks like images won't pass hass ingress if behind CF proxy. anyone else seeing this?
No. No issues w/ CF displaying images
can you see if studio code server works well behind CF?
how does your nginx look like?
Are you meaning you're just using CF as your DNS provider? I'm using a Cloudflare Tunnel without the need for Nginx
ah, I see, no, I'm using it as proxy to my virtual machine. nginx proxies to port 8123 and everything works fine, except little icons
are you using this? Cloudflared
Current version: 5.1.1
yup, with tunnels it seems to work fine. I guess I'll ditch nginx then. thanks
Hey folks, can anyone help me with my install of motioneye? followed several instructions which is basic but each time i try to open it I get 401: Unauthorized. Using on a Pi4, Had it working on a test setup before but got crazy with a lot of rubbish so i wiped the sd card and started again and cant seem to get it working.
Never mind, Found it seems to be a Chrome issue, open in firefox and it works great.
Getting an ssl handshake error and I've no idea how to go about fixing that, the duckdns add-on says my current cert is good till march 29th
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/ can verify what you're seeing
Assessment failed: No secure protocols supported
I put in the duckdns address is that right?
I orignally included the port and it whinged at me about that
Vaultwarden Addon: My Letsencrypt certificate timed out and VW stopped working. I've updated the certificate and put them in SSL but now I get a "ssl_stapling" ignored, issuer certificate not found for certificate. I haven't changed the issuer, so why would I now get this. It's stopping VW from working on mobiles.
The esphome addon, why can't it resolve hostnames? I can resolve them from my windows and Linux boxes
mDNS won't work, is it only using mDNS?
Are you segmenting traffic with vlans and restricting ports?
Yes

Please don't repeatedly post the same text like that
(hint, you can delete your own posts)
you told me to go post it in #add-ons-archived ... so I did ... wrong ?
You posted it twice there
huh ?
Once here is enough 😉
You apparently did copy/paste/paste... it was quite clearly showing twice before you deleted both
We only need one ping post
I'm new to Discord, sorry ...
Accidents happen, that's fine as long as you clean up
The TL/DR to your add-on problem is that you need to set the port (22) in the add-on config
Currently running Nginx Proxy Manager and have a a Proxy host configured for my DuckDNS to point to http:192.168.1.72:3000. I can access the IP locally but going to the duckdns link doesn't load anything. I generated an SSL cert. What else am I missing?
What's in the NPM logs?
There is something listening at that port and IP?
Last entry I am seeing is [1/31/2024] [10:32:59 AM] [Nginx ] › ℹ info Reloading Nginx
Check the access log (and error log)
in NPM or HA?
NPM
The only log I am seeing is Audit Log
Hey all, I have troubles keeping the deconz addon stable. HA will go very frequently in unstable states and I need to refresh the addon integration after that most of the time will work correclty for short period of time. Any suggestion on what my be missing ?
Hello trying to work through my backup issues i noticed an issue with the Samba Addon which i been using for several years no problem.
But i know things break i have re read the docs and just want to make sure the settings and logs look ok please.

https://github.com/royto/logbook-card?tab=readme-ov-file#custom-styling Hi, is there any way to add information about who did it in this HACS add-on? There is definitely this information in the logs, but I don't know how to find it and put it in this story
I can even pay someone to add such an option in this add-on, the source code is available to anyone. You just need to know how to modify it. And I care about this very much
HACS doesn't have addons
Okay..
You wanted #frontend-archived
hello.. someone runing unpoller here ? Seems like it it not working anymore..
Is it any way how to get HTTPS SSL certificate on Tailscale HA add-on? I want it for remote encrypted HA app connection.
I am currently having a similar problem. I have installed an SSL certificate for my HA instance and it works fine for port8123, but I am also trying to get it to work on go2rtc, but i cannot get https to work on port 1984
How did you do that? Can you post me any manual?
I'm new in HA
I am following this video. I am trying to get Two Way Audio on my Amcrest Doorbell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN9HjAJW9Xc
Its not a perfect step by step though
Hmm I'm trying to find solution based on Tailscale. https://tailscale.com/kb/1153/enabling-https
Anyone here familiar with manual MQTT device configuration using Mosquitto? I'm trying to add a Shelly 1PM gen3 MQTT topic as a device, but haOS is just shrugging it off. Already have another device running over MQTT so I have the basics working.
Have you tried the Shelly Discovery Script Gen2?
Nope, that's a great lead. I'll give it a try
Anyone know of any self hosted rss feed reader add-ons out there?
There is YARR from Einschmidt's repo.
https://github.com/einschmidt/hassio-addons
haha was literally going to link this. These are strange though, there's no "web ui" button
Like I installed both yarr and freshrss but when I start them there's no way to get a UI? It seems like they may even only be frontend or backend only offerings?
I mean looking at their configs, it doesn't seem like they specify ingress which I think they'd have to? I haven't done much addon dev
YARR UI seems to be called via port 7070, but in the network settings that should be changeable
Ingress must be enabled. Set ingress: true in config.yaml.
Neither of those specify ingress. Also they have a single add-on repo but have the actual code split up into separate repos. I like the modularity but I'm not sure which config.yaml takes effect there lol
Not that it matters, none of them have ingress specified so I have no idea how you're supposed to get to a UI
FreshRSS is port 7077 by default
HA IP with port 7070 for YARR and 7077 for FreshRSS
Yeah but where is ingress...the docs literally say you need it
Ingress allows users to access the add-on web interface via the Home Assistant UI.
No, the docs don't say you need it. You need to enable it, IF you want to use ingress
Vaultwarden is also not accessed via ingress
And it has a UI? But why would you do that?
To access it independently from HA, for example. As a seperate webservice
I can access Vaultwarden and create accounts without granting access to HA
Makes sense, maybe more so for a pw manager than rss reader though lol
You can still use RSS feeds in HA without add-ons
Well I was looking for a reader specifically
You can integrate it in the HA UI with iframes (with the http/https caveats)
Ah you mean like use an iframe with one of these self hosted readers? Maybe not a bad idea
But you cannot access it via a https connection, if the reader uses a http one
Warning
If you are accessing Home Assistant over HTTPS using SSL, you cannot access HTTP sites through an iframe panel.
Yeah
Same for webpage cards
Wait how is that different than iframe?
Oh that's just what it's called cuz most people don't know what an iframe is lol
Dunno if this will work though cuz these have login pages too
The webpage card is inside a dashboard, the iframe panel in the sidebar
Not sure what you mean regarding the sidebar. It just has icons, no?
I know you can add custom icons to the sidebar, but I didn't think it had anything to do with iframes
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/panel_iframe/ in the sidebar
https://www.home-assistant.io/dashboards/iframe/ as card in the dashboard
huh I'm not sure I was aware of this actually
I should probably get around to putting an nginx proxy in front of my instance so I don't have to deal with http in HA
I see a lot of recent activity on the LetEncrypt add-on. I'd love to see DynuDNS added as a supported provider, but I don't have the technical prowess to build a PR. what's the best way to request this be added and offer any assistance -- a new issue on GitHub or other?
If you have a feature request for the frontend you can open one here, for Home Assistant itself please post on the forum. All other feature requests should be made to the developer of that custom card/component.
Would it be a bad idea to use the Portainer add-on to create docker containers for SearXNG, Zotero, and Overleaf? I'd like to self-host each using their open source dockerfiles, but no add-ons exist, and I've really struggled to find anything beyond very basic documentation on creating an add-on - using Portainer seems like my only option.
Yes, that would be a bad idea
What risk would I be assuming?
Breaking HAOS
As in it could break suddenly at any random time? Otherwise, that's what backups are for.
Yes. Portainer has been depreciated as add-on (except some 3rd party repos), because it interferes with the Supervisor, which manages the containers of HAOS. Adding own containers might break the system
It has been used quite a lot for unsupported porposes, causing many issues, support questions and other problems.
If you run Home Assistant, please be aware that running additional containers is not a supported use-case and will trigger your system to be flagged as unsupported as well.
Hmm, okay. So my only option really is to learn how to create add-ons using the dockerfiles for those systems?
I'd have to do that for every add-on, right? It's not possible to run Supervised from within a Docker container?
A Supervised install would have the same problem as HAOS with additional containers via Portainer
supervisor is a container
You wanna put all these containers in a container?
People have done it, but I don't think they enjoy it
Okay, that sounds like a no-go for me. I guess I need to just double down on learning how to create an add-on.
Thanks
Or find someone (their repo) who did that already
I've looked to no avail. Not saying nobody has, but it escapes me if they have.
Containers all the way down. Alternately, "yo dawg, I herd you like containers"
Looking like it's up to me to make glances work with Victoria Metrics
Is there an add-on that would allow me to connect a Hass local calendar with my Samsung or Outlook calendar?
Basically, I want to only use the local calendar, but don't want to give up the nice Samsung calendar widgets on my phone or adding events emailed to me directly to my calendar. Connecting to either Samsung or Outlook should do the trick.
not just node-exporter?
Shouldn't be too hard. VictoriaMetrics can accept the Influx data it sends.
It can also scrape prometheus compatible exporters if that's what you mean. Node exporter does not give per process stats. At least not on linux. Glances can IIRC.
There's a "process-exporter" but I don't think I want to try to get that working on haos
I'm running it on the bare metal though
Exactly, it's just choking on the database check
anyone have any problem with local tuya?
mine only works on the first 2 minutes after restart
after that i can control it... but i can control my devices via tuya app
That's an #integrations-archived
#integrations-archived integrate Home Assistant with devices or services, or provide functionality within Home Assistant.
#add-ons-archived provide additional software or services, which an integration could possibility integrate with. Add-ons are for Home Assistant OS and Supervised only, other install methods can install software other ways.
getting 502 bad gateway from zigbee2mqtt, unsure where to find the logs - it won't start and it's not clear why it stopped.
bah, came back up after Core updated.
I would have hoped I would get an alert, not just work it out when my Zigbee buttons stopped working.
The Z2M logs should be in the add-on UI
how are you running homeassistant? as OS on bare metal?
not sure how well the HASS OS can handle it (especially distro updates?), but in theory you could just install docker on the debian...
if you're running HAS as VM I'd suggest spinning up another VM (or lxc) for docker...
You can't run your own Docker containers on HAOS
And using Portainer breaks HAOS (that's deliberate on part of the HAOS devs)
I mean it's debian under the hood, so I'm sure with a lot of manual fiddling it would work. Obviously if everbody says "dont" then there's probably a reason for that...
No, no HAOS isn't Debian
And if you were to go "fiddling" then you'd have an unsupported, unsupportable, and likely broken, system
Ah my fault. For some reason I thought I queried the HA VM I'm running, but I must've landed inside a container then...
I remember something about VSCode Server not being properly supported on Alpine... and that is probably what I ssh'd into...
@tropic cobalt I'm not familiar with the dev or the repo but I see services here in the same wheelhouse . Maybe reach out to them and inquire about searXNG and others? https://github.com/jdeath/homeassistant-addons
turns out I was looking at the wrong code for InfluxDB libs and I got Victoria Metrics to spit out its one and only table name __internal so I just set that instead.
Now the question is... what is Photoprism doing in the background? lol. https://imgur.com/2zXoXBn
Hass OS on bare metal
hey folks, I'm trying to trace back where an add-on in HACS is storing it's URL so I can submit a PR because the current state of it is that it's busted due to a URL change from the vendor.
I've looked over the code, and the URL is not stored in the code for the integration. It's not requested when the item is installed, so I'm figuring it's somewhere upstream or something. It's not in any of the files on my box that I can see (other than the logs, used grep -ri $URLHERE on the folder where all HASS configs are stored) What I'm not following is where that would be.
HACS has no add-ons
it even reminds you of that when installing HACS
HACS itself is an #integrations-archived
The variable settings (those which are configured on the add-ons settings page) of add-ons are stored on the OS file system.
is there a better channel to ask about this? #dev maybe? trying to figure it out so I can be a good citizen and submit the PR to the repo. sorry for putting stuff in the wrong place(s) 😦
You are talking about different things. Add-ons and HACS integration. Without knowing, what exactly you are trying to do, nobody can say
If you really mean HACS then you can't mean add-ons, since HACS has nothing to do with those
If you really mean add-ons then you don't mean HACS, as above
And the several configuration files will not help to create a PR to fix something
sorry for not being clear. Here's what I've done/and am trying to solve:
I have HACS installed
From HACS, I searched for, and installed Ecowater Softener
Ecowater, the company that makes the softener, used to point their auth at wifi.ecowater.com, this has been changed to something different.
I want to submit a PR to the repo for the thing I installed from HACS with the appropriate update
I have searched the code in the repo and I don't see wifi.ecowater.com being set anywhere in the code
I have searched all the HASS related files on my system and do not see wifi.ecowater.com being set, I only see hits for it in the HASS logs
I'm trying to trace back where in the code the URL is being set. I'm not sure what the best channel to ask this question is.
If it would be, it would be a configuration error, not a bug
the code is, somewhere, calling the old auth URL causing the thing installed from HACS to fail. There's nowhere on the local system that I can see this URL defined in configuration or anything. Which tells me the issue is somewhere in the code, but it's not.
Running HASS in a container, so I'm searching all the files on the file system related to HASS for anywhere that the URL is defined, nothing is coming up. My first thought was that the code had this statically set somewhere.
but this isn't the right channel, that much I get... trying to understand where to ask the question.
ah... found what I need. sorry folks 😄 it's not HASS, it is upstream
This is the Python library, which would have to be changed
https://github.com/barleybobs/ecowater-softener/blob/main/ecowater_softener/ecowater.py
This might help for the next time. Using the correct terminology saves time
https://www.home-assistant.io/getting-started/concepts-terminology/
yeah, that was the one. I found it within the container.. makes sense why my grep wasn't finding it. thank you again and sorry for the confusion.
Hi, i'm a total noob, could someone help me with bticino stuff?
Don't ask to ask, just ask your question. Then people can answer when they're around.
When you do ask a question, try to provide as much background detail as possible. Ask yourself these questions first so that others don't have to:
- What version of the Home Assistant are you running? (remember, last isn't a version)
- What exactly are you trying to do that won't work?
- Is the problem uniform or erratic?
- What's the exact error message?
- When did it arise?
- What exactly don't you "get"?
- Can you share sample code, ideally with line errors where the error occurs?
@reef lantern Please do not cross post. Read the channel description, post it and wait for folks to respond. Crossposting wastes people's time as they're unaware of the help you're getting elsewhere.
If you don't get any responses after an hour or more, and your message is no longer on screen, it is fine to re-post or post a link to it.
I'll install a bticino https[:]//catalogue.bticino.com/product/door-entry-systems/2-wires-internal-solutions/classe-100-internal-units/BTI-344682-EN in my house. It's possible to integrate this with home assist? And what can i do with the API?
HA OS Add-on support! Additional, standalone, applications that can run on Home Assistant OS. Your user profile needs to have Advanced Mode enabled for some add-ons to be visible in the store.
This is the wrong channel
Sorry
Either #integrations-archived or #hardware-archived might be able to help.
why doesnt the silicon labs add on try to retry if it experiences issues, it just like stays running but obviously isnt working

Any ideas why HACS does not appear when I try to add it as an add-on? Could it be I set the language to Spanish? Also SSH/Terminal does not appear
HACS is not an add-on
Just saw that, but: https://hacs.xyz/docs/setup/download/ I can't find anyting with SSH, terminal, followed like 10 youtube videos and all the add-ons they see I don't have. HA is connected to the internet on a NUC.
Nevermind, I know how to fix it now! (ps: always after asking I see what I'm doing wrong 😅 )
What installation type did you use? HAOS, Supervised, Container or Core?
And is the Advanced mode on in your user settings?
Hello, I installed Home Assistant Supervisor and I don't see the tab
Image ----> https://imgur.com/POPauoJ.png
Can anyone help me with this?
Not supported? ---> https://imgur.com/nsHLBEr.png (I have Home Assistant Supervisor installed)
Home Assistant supervised is more than just the supervisor image. Please read the docs how to install supervised (and take into account the requirements).
If you followed the installation instructions for a supervised installer, we will also need the logs. But as it's an installation issue, please go to #installation-archived.
I have all the requirements and installed it via deb file
Where can I get logs of how I installed it yesterday?
Install it again and see what it says? You also want the supervisor and home assistant logs.
It installed normally
hi all! anyone here with a working raspi4/hassos setup with the hm-mod-rpi-pcb homematic module? it won't work, config.txt is edited to enable all the gpio stuff.
i tested 2 different raspberry pis and two hm-mod-rpi-pcb's. none of them are woking. 😦
Not sure if this has some info for you https://github.com/tiroso/docker_hm-mod-rpi-pcb
@hexed temple thx 🙂 will check that out
Trying to add the Wyze Bridge add-on and I keep getting "Error starting the add-on". My username and password are correct and I'm not using 2FA. The UI also won't save any of my settings, they only save if I edit the YAML code. I'm also not seeing anything in the logs so I can't tell what is preventing the add-on from starting.
Which logs did you check? I assume the supervisor logs?
The log screen within the add on that it takes you directly to when it fails.
Ok, figured it out. Looks like the default port was being used.
Great, that log screen only logs the add-on/application. If it fails to start there's nothing to log.
SSH addon, I'm trying to get zigbee2mqtt logs, however when I SSH into my HAOS, I'm given the "Home Assistant Command Line", which is no good, I need access to the terminal. Any ideas?
You can try to enter login but the SSH addon shouldn't need that.
You don't get full OS access with the SSH add-ons. For that you need the physical terminal access or the debug SSH enabled.
Ok so the SSH addon is no good for me? I need access to get more detailed logs for zigbee2mqtt
as detailed here: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/usage/debug.html#enabling-logging
you don't, you can enable debugging in the z2m gui
Indeed, but I can't get access to those logs. The small window does not contain all logs, only the last so many lines
you can go to home assistant/config/logs
top right corner
all there
click where it says home assistant core
Sorry I don't follow, I cant find "config" anywhere
thanks for ^^
Ahh it's in "system"
much obliged, that's very helpful
Shame that it only shows the last 2 minutes of logs
i have a question about esp32. is this the right place?
well esp32 is a piece of hardware, esphome is an add-on, but there is also #hardware-archived and esphome server
so very likely the answer is not really
that is also not considering #diy-archived
If you suspect more info, you can still use the docker commands stated here:
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/usage/debug.html#home-assistant-os-supervised-addon
But you would need the "Advanced SSH & Web Terminal" with disabled protected mode.
Can't check the addon's identifier right now but this should also work
ha host logs --identifier addonhere.
See ha help host logs for how to list identifiers.

I have enanbled InfluxDB and Grafana Addons in HA on a RPI with Nabu Casa cloud service. Grafana is not getting any data. My Influx explore page says http://localhost:8086 and will display data. The Grafana Data sources asks for the URL of the data and autorizations. I am not sure which URL Grafana needs and any authorizations.
I would suggest the ESPHome Discord server, They have helped me a great deal!

Hey folks, trying to figure something out: I've got an add-on that randomly stops. Watchdog is enabled, and I figured that should auto-restart the add-on (I'm guessing it does this a certain number of times before it stops trying?) but the add-on stays in a stopped state. Is there a way I can change the behavior of watchdog for this specific add-on (like some conf file where I can take a look at watchdog settings) to make it so it ensures that the add-on is always running?
Something like this?: https://github.com/search?q=org%3Ahome-assistant+WATCHDOG_MAX_ATTEMPTS&type=code
yeah, but wouldn't that be a global change?
Yeah I don't see away to configure it. Just wanted to point you at where to look.
Thank you 🙏
I did not get a response so I am re-posting this Grafana problem: Which URL is for the "data source" I have enanbled InfluxDB and Grafana Addons in HA on a RPI with Nabu Casa cloud service. Thank you for the links, I thought that I had been to that and tried all that for the last 3 days... without success. This time it works, Thank you so much?
You are in the wrong channel. You wanted #integrations-archived
If I'm using HACS on a HA installed in a docker container, how can I install this addon? https://github.com/brenner-tobias/addon-cloudflared
If I search for it in the HACS panel it does not appear.
When you installed HACS you ticked the box that said you knew that HACS doesn't have add-ons
HA OS Add-on support! Additional, standalone, applications that can run on Home Assistant OS. Your user profile needs to have Advanced Mode enabled for some add-ons to be visible in the store.
instead you can install that software manually - just add it to your stack
The #general-archived channel can help you there
that's what I want to do, but not sure how to. I'll ask in general then. For Alarmo it was easy, for this one I can't seem to make it work.
Add-ons are for HAOS and Supervised only
Alarmo's an integration, that's why

Hey, wonder if anyone here has got Nest addon to work?
I've set everything up as per instructions but when enabling permissions the Google Nest site doesn't allow me to toggle the switches to allow permissions from a PC (doesn't seem to be browser specific), from my phone I can toggle them and get all the way to the end when where it will then go back to my HA page when it tries to link it but the HA iOS app seems to load a blank page and won't progress
Do you mean the nest #integrations-archived ?
Sorry yes, Ill ask in there 🙂
Hi,
How can I install Silicon Labs Multiprotocol v2.3.1 ? current version is 2.4.4 but it's not compatible with Z2M
hey, i'm new to using home assistant and would like to use this:
https://github.com/wylek/smartsleep?tab=readme-ov-file
i'm confused by this HACS stuff, can anyone help me out here?
That's a topic for the #integrations-archived channel
Since that's an integration (component) and not an add-on (software)
#integrations-archived integrate Home Assistant with devices or services, or provide functionality within Home Assistant.
#add-ons-archived provide additional software or services, which an integration could possibility integrate with. Add-ons are for Home Assistant OS and Supervised only, other install methods can install software other ways.
Hey guys, I'm running Uptime Kuma as an add-on, I want to move this service to another host. I see that backup/restore is broken in UptimeKuma, where can I find the ./data/ directory? I'm currently running the https://github.com/tteck/Proxmox HA deployment
It's included in backups. Just do a partial backup of the addon.
The real path on the OS is at /mnt/data/supervisor/addons/data/a0d7b954_uptime-kuma/ but you need developer SSH to be able to access it. Another way would be to use docker cp to copy it to somewhere more accessible. These are obviously not the first choices but I still wanted to include them.
the backup extract worked for me, thx
@lime girder I am trying to get your add-on up and running: AMR2MQTT and am seeing an issue similar to this:
https://github.com/mdegat01/addon-amr2mqtt/issues/96
Last update I see to this is 3 years ago... has it been abandoned?
Logs too long to post here 🪦 but it's the same issue with it not being able to communicate with the MQTT broker. running a HASS Yellow with 2024.01.1
ok... had to add username/password to config... it's not showing data in the platform though. and it looks like it's not actually reading any info. I have tried SCM and SCM+. I can get readings off the RTL SDR when I run this manually in linux with rtlamr, but it looks like maybe this isn't pulling from my SDR?
Ok, I see it pulling data, but can’t get it to add to the energy dashboard
Looks like there’s a thread on it but it’s leading to few answers. I posted there for posterity because it looks like there’s a minor math issue and then trying to figure out getting it to be added to the dashboard
More concerned with the latter than the former right now
Hi all, I am in panicn this morning I don't know what happened
no more ducdns add... I reinstalled it
and now got :
pfff 😦
Ok I fixed...
Not really helpful without knowing how.
Hi,
does someone uses his rpi5 as a border router for Thread?
@green pivot Please do not cross post. Read the channel description, post it and wait for folks to respond. Crossposting wastes people's time as they're unaware of the help you're getting elsewhere.
If you don't get any responses after an hour or more, and your message is no longer on screen, it is fine to re-post or post a link to it.
It’s working now. Must have just been that 2 hour lag time.
maybe someone knows how to get recording and replay working with motioneye?
i see the streams and i somehow managed to record(maybe this is wrong configured). i absolutely can not playback
playback gives this error: Media format unsupported or otherwise unavilable/unsuitable for playing.
or directly with the tapo integration
okay i narrowed it down to work with another browser than chrome
pls ping me when someone answers
somehow it works now?
@dim grove I think I'm hitting an issue with your PS5 add-on and I'm not seeing anything in the git issues on it:
Failed to save add-on configuration, Missing option 'psn_accounts' in root in PS5 MQTT (df2164f9_ps5_mqtt). Got {'mqtt': {'host': 'core-mosquitto', 'port': 1883, 'user': 'someuser', 'pass': 'REDACT'}, 'logger': '@ha:ps5:*', 'device_check_interval': 5000, 'device_discovery_interval': 60000, 'account_check_interval': 5000, 'include_ps4_devices': False}
I've tried it in YAML and the same issue is there.
GUI for psn_accounts looks like this:
npsso: !secret npsso.yaml
preferred_ps5: MYPSNAMEHERE```
any suggestions for how to get around the issue?
Have you tried without the !secret and tried using the yaml editor?
you mean putting the raw token in there? if yes, haven't tried that yet.
tried yaml editor, same issue.
ok, without !secret it's working
in the npsso.yaml all I had was:
npsso_token: TOKENHERE
oh... I think I know what's up. let me try again
nope... that didn't do it. so not sure why it won't take the secret.
for the preferred PS5, is that just the name of the device as it appears in something like the ps remote play app?
@drowsy cave I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
Is the 'File Editor' add-on capable of doing "Dark Mode"? Just about everything I have set to use "Dark" - and when I happen to go into this one, it is like a wet-fish-slap in the face... 😁 It is soooo - bright.
Can someone help me, with crayon, understand how to fix this:
Invalid config for 'sensor' at configuration.yaml, line 13: required key 'platform' not provided, please check the docs at https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/sensor
This was working fine until today.
@drowsy cave I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
that's unrelated to addons
it's hard to tell, but it looks like you put the whole homeassistant: block in sensors.yaml and it belongs in configuration.yaml
I suggest #general-archived for more
I put it in here because it's related to a specific add-on, but moved to #general-archived. thanks for the check.
hello! I'm having some issues with adding the MQTT broker addon to my HAS (running in docker). somehow paho-mqtt dependency is not met and I can't get a head of how to install it. Any help pls?
What are you doing exactly and what does it say? The docker installation method has no addons, btw.
Yes. But you only need to use that option when you have multiple devices and users. As it will prefer mapping that accounts activity to that device.
Still having discovery issues, but I’ll keep bashing away at it. Thanks for your support 🙏
I've got rtl_433 working, but having trouble getting a particular device to show up. Is there a discord around rtl_433 troubleshooting?
Hi all, so I just bought a Broan-NuTone FG600RGBS LED RGB light for my fan in our bathroom. The light can be controlled via bluetooth and m HA box is close enough to control it. So I am wondering is there any addon for HA that can control this light?
@bright plank Add-ons are applications, services, and even other servers which extend functionality. Think of them as other software outside of HA. You are asking about an integration. In this case, a smart device that uses bluetooth likely only works with bluetooth, and you should avoid these in general. It's possible that the bluetooth integration may discover this device, but 🤷♂️
Hey, sorry I could find out googling: Is there a way to access the webui of an addon directly and not embedded inside home assistant?
they're called "addons", and it depends on the addon
Oh I thought because they are rendered inside an iframe the could be a general solution.
nope. you need to see if the addons you want to access externally allow you to specify a port for access outside of HA
Coping the iframe link just works 🙂
you will run into authentication problems
So it now works, because i'm already authenticated, but when my session expires, I can't login via this link?
You'll need to go back in through HA to get it to work again
I suggest doing it properly as I mentioned above
Okay, thanks a lot
Hi! Where can I download an older version of an addon (openthread border router)?
im trying to migrate from the MQTT addon to a docker container using this:
https://hub.docker.com/_/eclipse-mosquitto
how do i migrate the data from my mqtt broker currently running as an addon ? or do i not need to?
You probably don't need to, but if you want to you can bridge the two brokers and then migrate the clients one at a time
hello, anyone else having they Z2M working fine but looking funny? i havn't used it in a few weeks and have done several updates since, i can try rolling back but if there is another way to find the issue i would rather do that first
it seems to be a chome issue, it's looking fine Opera
More for #zigbee-archived but turn on/off dark mode
There was a frontend change that caused this glitch

hey guys... does anyone know if its still possible to install Homebridge add-on under HassOS?
Hi, Does it exist an addons for managing right between user ? (user A can turn off the light, user B can only watch state of light, etc)
That'd be an #integrations-archived - but HA would have to support it first (it doesn't)
Hi all-- not sure if this is the right channel, but I've been struggling with getting rtl_433 to connect to my Mosquitto MQTT broker. I keep receiving the "MQTT connect error: Connection refused" and am 100% certain that I am using the right username, password, and port. Tried a very basic config file that defines only frequency and 'output mqtt://127.0.0.1:1883,user=<my username>,pass=<my pass>'. If I wipe out the config files, my test device begins to send data at regular intervals. If I try to uncomment the 'output' line again so as to push the data to Mosquitto, I receive the "connection refused" message and no device data appears in the rtl_433 logs.
All Mosquitto settings are at their defaults, and I confirmed that the username/passwords are correct.
Is this the right place for a little bit of troubleshooting help?
mqtt://127.0.0.1:1883 why are you using loopback? That'll never work.
I've tried localhost as well as the HA local IP. Mosquitto is running locally
As an add-on?
Yes
core-mosquitto instead of 127.0.0.1 then
I'll try that out, stand by
Son of a.....looks like the connection is established, but device data isn't showing up in the logs yet. Going to see if adding another output line in the config file can let me write it to the log as well. Thank you! Might come back with a couple of questions shortly...
Make sure the broker add-on is configured to expose 1883 to the network - the default is not
Got it, will check. The UI-based config for mosquitto only had these options available by default, I think it shows 1883 as exposed. Edit: can't add a screenshot here, apparently, but I do see 1883 as being exposed in the UI.
Turn out I overconfigured it...wiped out the config files, restarted rtl_433, it automatically connected to Mosquitto, set up the MQTT integration, and my device appeared!
Thanks @jade wing ! Looks like I am all set. Just need to either calibrate the device or add an offset as the temp/humidity is off
Hi , Sorry newbie here im trying in ESPhome to code an ultrasonic sensor and the project im copying has Platform "ultrasonic" listed twice and the same GPIO pins after the heading each time . when i try to build it fails saying the GPIO pins are used twice ?? The person i am copying said this code works ? but how surely he got the same compile problems ?? many thanks for your thoughts i can paste code here but didnt know if it was allowed ? 🙂
@weary oracle I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
@weary oracle ESPHome is a system to control your ESP8266/ESP32, with a native integration for Home Assistant.
You can find their documentation here, and get help with ESPHome itself here in the #diy-archived channel (#integrations-archived for the Home Assistant side integration with it). They also have their own Discord server too.
You'll get more help on the ESPHome Discord ☝️
thanks, i also thought about that but didn't fix it on chrome, i would like to see it fixed but on my phone or on opera and edge it does looks like it should at least
I indeed didn't need to. Thank you!
I want to complete my ECOVACS migration after 2024.2, and one of the steps says this about the add-on (Which I think was through HACS right?)
1: Remove all Deebot 4 Home Assistant config entries
Where/how do I do that? Does it mean in my config.yaml file, just in case I have some, or is there a specific place it's referring to?
There is a video from Smart Home Junkie about doing something like this. But I'm not sure how relevant that is now
Hi Mates,
I've tried to update homematic_local to 1.55.0 but I get an Error Empty filename
https://github.com/danielperna84/hahomematic/issues/1423
Can anyone help me? (at least how to setup it manually)?
If I read that right, it is an integration and not an add-on
Yes it's a hacs integration. But I think I'm on the right path here
But in the wrong Discord channel 😅
Ahh yeah, sorry 🙂
It happens. I suppose, #integrations-archived should be the better one
FTR: Found the problem and updated the ticket.
I want to get my Eve Energy working with a Conbee 3 stick. The Open Thread Border Router addon logs are the following: https://pastebin.com/Muagh2yD
And this is the log for matter server: https://pastebin.com/bEuaDmRj
Maybe someone is able to help fixing the issue with me? I guess the major problem is the "OSError: [Errno 101] Network is unreachable" ..
#thread-archived can help with thread stuff
Hi everyone, i'm trying to open up my home assistant to internet with duckdns, and duckdns's logs say that everything is ok, on the duckdns dashboard i can see my ip, but when i try to connect to it using the domain, it just times out. not sure if this is the right place to ask abt this, but do you have any advice on troubleshooting?
Did you forward the port in your router? Is your ISP using CGNAT? Can you reach it via the ip? Have you tried nslookup on the (sub)domain?
- Yes i did (i hope i did it right)
- Im not sure how to check that
- No
- DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. for both ip and domain
If you can't reach it via the external ip there's no point going further with the DNS stuff. Some routers have a problem with connecting to the external ip. Maybe you could try if it's reachable with your phone's mobile data? Don't use WiFi 😄
As for the CGNAT I'd suggest googling for it.
Hello, i installed the addon Frigate, but when I want to start it, I get the error message : "Can't create container from addon_ccab4aaf_frigate: 400 Client Error for http+docker://localhost/v1.42/containers/create?name=addon_ccab4aaf_frigate: Bad Request ("invalid CapAdd: capability not supported by your kernel or not available in the current environment: "CAP_PERFMON"")" What to do ?
Which OS version?
It seems that my isp use cgnat;
also running nslookup on mobile data using termux it gives my ip and says non-authoritative answer
If they do I suggest tailscale or similar. Depends what you want to do.
i already have tailscale and it worked alright, although i want to link home assistant to google assistant, so tailscale doesnt work in that case
i haven't heard about cloudflare option though, is there an article?
I haven't tried this yet but maybe look into this: https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-tailscale/blob/main/tailscale/DOCS.md#option-funnel
2024.2
I want to know the OS version. You are you using HAOS, right?
MQTT question, i have it running on HA and nothing is wrong with it. But I'm wondering if i could create a VM or container on proxmox and run it from that and connect it to HA. Would it take a load off HA? Would it run even better? Will it do the exact same thing and there's no point? I'm looking for uses for my proxmox aside from my current HA and frigate setups.
Yes and no. A MQTT broker is very light weight.
It will do the same thing and there's no point
so id assume if i have a good HA setup, there would be no point
Just more complicated for nothing
ok cool, i dont need a headach for nothing, and knowing my record, another 4-6 hour fix after i break something. Thanks guys
does anyone know how to access the addon_configs folder in order to access the .yaml of various addons
The SSH addons should have access to it:
- https://github.com/hassio-addons/addon-ssh/blob/main/ssh/config.yaml#L48
- https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/blob/master/ssh/config.yaml#L24
Other addons which do that: - https://github.com/search?q=repo%3Ahassio-addons%2Faddon-ssh all_addon_configs&type=code
- https://github.com/search?q=repo%3Ahome-assistant%2Faddons all_addon_configs&type=code
Configurator is better known as File Editor btw.
thank you!
Hello. I need some help. I want to get access to my www folder I had installed Samba and I used a while back but today I am trying to use it and I cannot. I dont know what am I doing wrong. i van see homeassistant under my network but when I double click on it. I just open home assistant dashboard
It's likely using the wrong ports
Is it possible to use the overseerr add-on to connect to an overseerr instance on a different server? All I see is changing the port
What you mean using the wrong port
Try \\HA_IP_HERE\ in your explorer. Also check the addon logs and see if it's running. Window's network may list both HA and samba.
extremely new to HA and the community. i've finally got the majority of my integrations done and used Nabu Casa to gain remote access and app functionality. can anyone help with setting up Adguard Home? I am having a hard time finding clear instructions to get this working. I've used adguard for years on mobile and this is a whole new level of complex for me.
Install the addon, then either configure your router to give out adguard's ip to your clients as DNS server via DHCP or let the router use adguard as its DNS.
I don't recommend the addon though. Think about what happens on OS upgrades while it's down.
oh. like if the Pi goes down for whatever reason while upgrading?
Addons are containers that run on the OS. When you upgrade the OS it reboots. During a reboot the software is not running. You also make the system depend upon itself.
The issue is that if you use a "fallback", as in give out multiple DNS server to your clients you have no control over which one they use making it kind off useless. I don't have a good solution other than using multiple adguard servers.
oh. i see what you're saying. I guess adgaurd is not really necessary as I've got it on all my mobile devices already and use adblock for our browsers. I was just hoping to have it up for guests so they can experience the luxury of not having ads.
I use it as well, just not as addon. I just don't see how this wouldn't cause issues sooner or later but I encourage you to test it out and make your own experiences with it (and tell me about it).
i think i'll add it, but only route devices that log onto the guest network.
are there any useful add-ons you might recommend for beginners?
I don't use addons in production myself. On my test VM (people here tend to use HAOS so I need it to be able to properly help) I use Mosquitto, VS Code Server, Configurator (File Editor), Advanced SSH & Web Terminal and Glances. I think that's something everyone should have.
i'll take a look at those and see if anything catches my eye. thank you!
helo everybody. i am using the mqtt addon but i cannot get the attributes to be added to a device_tracker. the state is transmitted correctly, but the attributes not. the mqtt topic listener retruns the following values for the attributes, but they do not populate the device_tracker.
Hello, is Microsoft ToDo still available (for local use)? Another question is it possible to use the dns name of the host when I'm remotely connected with zerotier One?

but I can no longer run addons
What is leading you to this conclusion?
The log you pasted is 100% fine
Hi NSX, both addons refuse to start so I cant, for example, view config YAMLs
What do you mean by refuse to start? Like I said, that log is fine
If you're saying the buttons still show as Start and it looks like the add-on isn't running, you should restart the entire host (not just HA)
OK so when you say restart entire host, are you implying a system reboot? Thx in advance.
ok, will try, appreciate the responses.
NSX, you star, the reboot worked perfectly. Ive only ever done HA restarts previously. Thank you so much.
You're welcome
This work great. I don’t understand why when I was going through Network it only show HA not samba. Also if goes to my computer add a Network Location it doesn’t find it. But typing just ha pc ip address on explore work fine. Thanks 🙏🏼

Is MariaDB installed?
yes it is, My SSD on my Raspberry Pi 4 recently died, causing me to lose all data. My backups were also on the SSD, and my Google Drive was always full.
I can only suggest making sure it's running. I don't have any other ideas at the moment.
i have logins and rights set with passwords and usernames, would this prevent from connecting properly?
Not sure but probably not.
just for my understanding, do integrations like influxdb/chronograf, grafana, nodered expose their webinterface just towards the host or is it globally accessible
at least for nodered there seems to be something on 1880 which i am not sure i like/understand
Issue DHCP add-on
I think it depends on the config.yaml and whether or not a port was set. For the rest one probably has to dive into the supervisor code. I did but can't link you to just one thing. Best I can do is this as a starting point: https://github.com/home-assistant/supervisor/blob/9c82ce4103b3e533a551f267f9c9b9799c73f476/supervisor/addons/addon.py#L370
When using a custom port, 64312 (I wanted to easily grep it) in my case, PortBindings/Ports in docker inspect goes from null/{} respectively to this

"HostPort": "64312"
}

},
"Ports": {

im trying to get the carelink addon to work anyone that have it working?
I think I do understand, at least a bit
The config.yaml may either list a port mapping or a mapping to null to declare it as disabled, probably so that the ui still resolves the port description.
Looking at the influxdb addon config, this seems to align with what I am experiencing, that I can connect to the db from outside of homeassistant but not to the chronograf interface while this is available over the ui.
ingress_port:1337
ports:
80/tcp: null
8086/tcp: 8086
8088/tcp: 8088
I think I see that NodeRed somewhat forcefully exposes the UI over 1880 instead of using the ingress_port method based on it running through the host networking for likely technical reasons. Just how does it end up asking for a password (I suppose I would need to configure one) when I try to connect directly to the service vs I use it over the UI
does anybody experience problems with the git feature of the vs code add-on? after I commit changes the look changes and the master tree is shown without any mentioning of my subsequent changes after the 1st commit.
If you're looking at the remote, did you push?
I’m having trouble trouble logging into onedrive with my onedrive backup addon. I used to be logged in, but after the recent update I got logged out and now it wont log me back in. Says the code doesnt work. Can anyone help me?
Hi I have a question related to Deconz add-on. I have updated my conbee stick and after that i removed the existing config and added the conbee2 again. Only i am getting aN ip address in 170.33.x.x range, cannot connect from HA integration to this ... How is this IP address assigned and can it be changed ?
I never push from vs code in the browser as it has problems related to github (ssh fingerprint).
I prefer to ssh to the HA machine and do the push there on the command line. Due to the "feature" I experience lately (I do not see the current changes in the browser) I do the add / commit on the command line. The result can be seen in the browser in form of a tree like display.
After my first commit I can no longer see the changed file(s).
Screenshots can be seen here:
#integrations-archived integrate Home Assistant with devices or services, or provide functionality within Home Assistant.
#add-ons-archived provide additional software or services, which an integration could possibility integrate with. Add-ons are for Home Assistant OS and Supervised only, other install methods can install software other ways.
You wanted the #integrations-archived channel
Thanks, i will cross post.
Hi all. Any reason why all my add ons are with auto-update flag on and are not actually auto updating?
@slim lark I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
^welp that made it a bit unreadable sorry
What are you expecting it to do? In hosts, you've only got a IPv4 mapping
Hello! I was hoping for some advice setting up an RM4C Mini with Broadlink Manager. I'm actually using the standalone Docker image rather than the HA addon, but since (I believe) they're the same thing and there's no informal support channel for Broadlink Manager I hope it's okay to ask here.
Anyways, the device setup in the Broadlink app fails, but the device does manage to join my wifi and Home Assistant successfully finds and adds it. HA can then learn and send commands without issue. However it does not appear in the BM webui when trying to scan.
I think this is technically an addon question: Yesterday we had a power outage for a few hours, however HA is installed on a laptop. So the system itself never shut down, it just lost all sensors and an internet connection. Strangely it also seemed to have lost connection to its mariaDB instance which is installed on the same machine, As the battery percentage that is kept track off didn't update and the logs show lots of SQL errors related to networking.
Does all the data make a "weird" loop out of the laptop and straight back in but on a different port? That could explain the issues as the router obviously also lost power.
Because the laptop is worn, but it doesn't drop to 60% battery instantly
One of the example messages:
(Error executing query: (MySQLdb.OperationalError) (2002, "Can't connect to server on '192.168.1.36' (101)") (Background on this error at: [probably a explenation link])
I feel a bit silly asking this, but does the "Auto-Update" feature on add-ons actually do anything? I feel like I'm forever installing updates on add-ons when they show up in the notification feed and the notifications don't seem to just go away if I ignore them despite having auto update turned on.
And in another question, perhaps this one is for @raven tinsel if he is available as I see it's his Add-on:
AdGuard Home is telling me it is listening on address 127.0.0.1. Now obviously that can't be what I should have set my router to, so I set it to the static IP address that my Home Assistant OS on Pi is using, but no traffic is reaching it and Fing on my laptop is reporting that my primary DNS server is not available (I've set my secondary to 1.1.1.1 for now, so no issues right now). I fear I'm missing something obvious in my configuration though. Perhaps a port I need to expose somehow? Though the Network tab on the configuration page shows that it's already exposing port 53. I have just assumed that I shouldn't be specifying a port number with my DNS server settings on the router though, but perhaps I should be putting something like 192.168.0.149:53 rather than just 192.168.0.149?
Generally, don't tag people to ask for help - it comes across as bad manners, you’re demanding somebody answers you. It’s different if you’re thanking somebody, obviously. If you do tag somebody keep it polite and respectful. Remember that everybody is a volunteer, and nobody has to help you, and people may block you.
Similarly, please don’t DM (direct message) people asking for help. It also comes across as demanding, and means that others can’t learn from what you do.
Finally, please keep tagging people in replies to a minimum. That too can become annoying very quickly and should be used only when it's necessary (such as if it's been a long time, or there's multiple conversations going on). When using Discord's new Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
Whoops, sorry, just saw the name on the add-on and figured I'd stick it in there, my bad 🙂
AdGuard Home is telling me it is listening on address 127.0.0.1
Where?
In the Setup Guide tab of its UI: https://imgur.com/a/moNeWdU
That means something else is wrong. The interface adguard listens too
are provided by the Supervisor
127.0.0.1 is always added and always there
isn't that just localhost?
yes, 127.0.0.1 is localhost, but not the point/related.
If you have no IP address listed @versed wren it means the Supervisor isn't aware of any interface
Are you using an Home Assistant Supervised installation?
Curious. I'm just using HAOS on a Pi5. Perhaps I'm stumbling across my first Pi5 issue?
Core
2024.2.1
Supervisor
2024.01.1
Operating System
11.5
Frontend
20240207.1
That could be 🤷♂️
I don't have a RPi5 to test with
(which I should get btw, thanks for the reminder)
It's been running flawlessly (originally installed from 2024.1.5.RC2) for several weeks now so this would be the first hiccup if it is that. Is there anything in particular in terms of logs etc I could share to help shed some light?
Does running ha network info from a ssh or web terminal give you any information about your connections?
I shall check now...
Eugh, I never know how to hightlight to copy paste in the terminal addon, I'll try from VS code...
@versed wren I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
Thank you, nifty bot friend 😁
Maaaan... that sucks, because that looks good 😦
Damn. I did wonder if when specifying the static ip address if the /24 on the end was really necessary though?
It was autofilled when I switched it over and I figured it wouldn't do any harm to have it.
nah that is fine 👍
I really don't get it
Here's the startup log, I don't know if it might show anything of worth?
https://pastebin.com/Cr2xWHZ3
Huh
ok
maybe that interface is drunk?
Like...
it shows everything is being bound nicely
so 192.168.0.149 should just be useable
It's the AdGuard Home is available at the following addresses: 2024/02/12 13:51:58.226540 [info] go to http://127.0.0.1:45158 that I find weird :/
Fair enough
the UI is pulled in internally by HA
I'm kind of tempted to just give you an admin login to my HA, so you can tinker away on a Pi5 architecture (if we're still assuming that could be the trouble).
Though I'd fear the judgement of the mighty Frenck 😆
Looking at your logs
I think there is actually no issue at all
(besides an display issue in the aguard interface maybe)
but it should work normally
That setup page also sometimes need some time or an add-on restart to get the recent changes
Well what do you know, you're quite right, after restarting that add-on earlier to see the logs it hadn't occured to me to see if anything had changed but sure enough, Fing says all is well with my DNS now and Adguard is indeed showing traffic properly. I feel rather silly now 😅
And the setup page even is now saying all the IP addresses that should be accessible.
The id of an entity to use for the comparison.
Custom ids can be inserted into the list by adding a # at the end of the id
hello! what does it mean to use custom ids?
#node-red-archived might know
This morning, none of my services were working over the internet, only on local ip. I checked NGINX Proxy Manager that had renewed the cert during the night, apparently successfully. But testing from inside NPM failed. I googled it and saw similar issues that fixed it by deleting and creating a new cert. So I deleted mine, but was unable to generate a new one. Tried to reboot the host system, and now NPM will not start. I tried uninstalling it re-installing it, but it fails to start. Here is the log: https://pastebin.com/jdHqL7Mm. Basically this: nginx: [emerg] cannot load certificate "/etc/letsencrypt/live/npm-1/fullchain.pem": BIO_new_file() failed (SSL: error:80000002:system library::No such file or directory:calling fopen(/etc/letsencrypt/live/npm-1/fullchain.pem, r) error:10000080:BIO routines::no such file)
