No, you just plug it in and flash the firmware
It's plug and play with ZHA and Z2M
And I probably just need one?
The ikea hub works so I assume something like CC2652R would easily do this right?
Thanks guys!
can someone help me with Zigbee2Mqtt? the routing map and LQI make no sense
Can I create a static routing or how do I solve the problem that all end devices run over one router although another router is closer?
no
I saw that Intead released a 7 dollar zigbee adapter, anyone knows if it's any good?
It's the integration that matters
Does your integration support the bulbs?
Does your integration support that stick?
If yes to both then you're fine
I think i'm going with the lama stick when it's back in stock.
quick one, what installation best for older laptop
What do you mean?
best form of installation, im having trouble to get the zigbee dongle to be found on my vm
currently got a vm on linux
No clue, I run bare metal. What do you mean by "best"? I doubt virtualization would significantly interfere with interfacing with the dongle speed-wise.
nah it just doesnt show up at all
like a recommended way of installing home assistant
I have the (Lonsonho QS-Zigbee-D02-TRIAC-2C-LN) dimmer module and Aqara 2 Gang Wall Switch with neutral can both of this be use together? the idea is to have a Smart Switch with a Dimmer module to dim the lights. I have tried them but couldn't get the Lonsonho Dimmer module to connect to my zigbee2mqtt. Does anyone tried this before?
hello, what is best wondow shutter (cover) switch. I tried the tuya one from loratap but could not have it work all well.
@stone halo #449717345808547842 will always be my advice for medium advanced people who want to retain control and minimum layers of abstaction
PayPal gave me a refund! Yay!
Ordered that German stick and heard nothing for way too long, so I submitted a buyer protection request and a few days later they approved it. They or the seller, I donโt know.
So Iโll go and order the zzh stick when itโs back in stock.
If you're in the US, get @molten linden usb coordinator from here https://www.tubeszb.com/product/usb_coord/11
I have several of both of the sticks. They are as valuable as toilet paper was last year it seems like
Good news. The stick has arrived and I have not (yet) been taxed ๐ Used the DPD delivery option - it indeed is quite fast and reliable.
For the stick itself - I'm very happy! It has a better coverage and all devices in z2m are discovered. Better than ZHA and Phoscon - at least for now. For some entities, also some more sensors included. Only fiddling around a bit with renaming, but OK.
For me also, I upgraded my cc2531 today. All good. Thanks Slaeh, even without communication; ๐
Iโm on the waitlist. Hopefully soon! ๐
Z2M + TI crew
Via ZHA, i was able to add a PGC410 SmartThings Presence tag, but HA only assigned it a Device, but no Entity... is there something I need to do to generate an entity for this device?
Hello! I installed Conbee 2 on a Raspberry Pi 4 which runs my Home Assistant, using the Zigbee Home Automation integration, which prompted me for something like โ usb-dresden_elektronik_ingenieurtechnik_GmbH_ConBee_IIโ
It worked very well. I successfully paired a number of Zigbee devices with the Conbee 2. Problems arose when trying to pair Xiaomi Aqara button switch. I tried using dConz and Phoscon, during which I seem to have lost connection with the Conbee. When I try to run the Zigbee Home Automation integration now, I am now offered a serial connection which does not work โ see screenshot. When I run Phoscan, I get Firmware Not connected. I have located the Conbee approximately 1 m from the Raspberry Pi and other devices. I have reset many times and tried the usual restatr steps but to no avail.
Can I completely / factory reset the Conbee and start from the beginning or do I need a new device? Any other suggestions as to how I can reconnect with the Conbee?
Any help would be appreciated.
You can only have one: either phoscon or zha integration.
Can't have both installed at the same time
Either phoscon add-on or zha integration. Remove the other one
Well, you can have both, but you need two sticks - one for each
Is there a way to get HG06323 remote to work with zha?
Thanks, Adminiuga! My problem may have arisen from installing the dConz integration when I already had ZHA integration installed. The situation now is that I cannot properly install either of those integrations as they do not seem to connect with the Conbee.
Does Zigbee2Mqtt (or any other Zigbee controller hw/sw) work with Hue sensors in a disconnected env? I mean, if the hub/controller crashes, often Zigbee lights and switches still work p2p.. can Hue motion sensors also work p2p?
Doing what?
Would sound like it, but ...
Hello, I got 3 ewelink SA-003 plugs working nicely with conbee II yesterday, ran fine all day. Today they are all disconnected, nothing has moved, I'd tried restarting etc. Any suggestions on how to debug / re-connect, please? https://i.imgur.com/qTRBcno.png
yeah I mean peer2peer .. binding to a group if that's possible.. so if I walk into a room, multiple lights turn on, regardless of the zigbee hub/controller being online. I get we need it for Hass and configuration but will it work as a fallback to turn on/off lights based on motion?
Well, it wouldn't be a fallback, it's be automatic
Lights would turn on with motion and then off when there's no motion, regardless
Exactly.. currently I'm using a couple of Aqara motion sensors but in the new home, it'll be Hue based... so I can bind Hue motion sensor to a zigbee group?
Using Zigbee2Mqtt/Hass that is
I also have a Hue hub v2 but trying to move away from that
I messed with Z2M binding a while ago .. didn't have the best luck with it
I can't say HA being "down" is normal though
Mine does down for upgrades, or if I screw something up in style
Exactly.. I want my home automation to kinda-still work even when I'm f*cking up
Basic stuff like lights, switches and motion
Well, smart switches solve the lights problem ๐
Yeah I'm still on the fence about how I will do light.. smart switch/dimmer + dumb transformer + lights .. or .. smart switch, Hue lights directly on mains
We're getting a new ceiling so I'd rather not put a power transformer in it where it gets plastered in
hi. anyone here using Aqara Opple switches with deconz and conbee stick?
and I'm still unsure if smart switches (stuff like shellys or whatever) even fit in my new home's electrical boxes
EU style boxes are rather small
Exactly, just like a Shelly or a few others .. but it's the depth mostly
Older homes have rather shallow boxes.. so as we're redoing the walls, we'd have to rip out the boxes and install deeper ones
The contractor is going to charge me an arm and a leg for that for sure haha
So I'm considering to wiring everything with 230V mains and have the light itself be smart
And yes I know, Hue is overpriced
But so are contractors haha
Well, you also need to think about the cost of all those bulbs, and their replacement costs every X years, vs the costs of doing it right, once ๐
Yeah but the individual bulbs also allows for stuff like colour temp etc
got some lines now but the still dont work :\ https://i.imgur.com/quPbbO0.png
https://www.lighting.philips.co.uk/consumer/choose-a-bulb/warmglow allows you to cheat that a bit ๐
and add ons work fine with that?
Remove zha integration, restart
You can't bind aqara motion sensors to lights. Would need To use either hue motion sensor or Ikea motion sensors
Exactly.. currently it's all a mess in NodeRED so i'm looking for something that'll work/rely on the Zigbee network itself
anyone know anything about zigpy-znp? I want to backup my TI CC1352P2
zigpy-znp tools installed on another machine but cant seem to run it
https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy-znp/blob/dev/TOOLS.md instructions do not work so was hoping someone managed to figure it out!
TBH it's probably a lot easier and faster to just perform firmware update and re-add every single zigbee device than mess about with zigpy-znp, which probably wont work anyway lol
@stone halo add-ons are just docker containers... So yes, they do, you just don't have a point and click interface and are forced to run the versions of software devs want you to run, and forced to upgrade, so it's even better
okay ill might be working on a docker setup then, doing hassio rn
Just poke by #449717345808547842

Bakemono
Aqara devices, what is the benefit of setting legacy: false?
Also, anyone know if the aqara D1 wireless switches are capable of binding to groups/lights/switches?
Basically I want a two-button switch which will be able to bind, to save the 1-2 second delay from pressing button to light on/off
Whatโs the best zigbee to USB adapter?
I'm trying to remove an Hue bulb that is still attached to my v1 Hub. Moving it the deconz... I can use the Hue API to put it into touchlink mode, the bulb blinks but remains attached to the Hue Hub? Shouldn't it be disconnected from the Hue hub?
Has anyone had any luck in using sensors via a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge while the bridge is set as template 75 (or what ever it's called ๐ )
Hey...
i would like to use new hue dimmer v2.
@mellow geode just merged the needed quirk to dev branch https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/commit/f54eb94bab4ea15330cccd44d6c351aab180da83
thx for that!
but i have no clue how to get this new quirk in my ha installation. i'm using hass.io on a rpi4. any hints for me please? ๐
Hi! Woke up to a bunch of sensors and bulbs being unavailable. Using a ConBee II with ZHA. Tried restarting HA but no luck. Where should i start?
Se this in the log [zigpy_deconz.zigbee.application] Unexpected transmit confirm for request id 113, Status: TXStatus.NWK_ROUTE_DISCOVERY_FAILED I dont even use Deconz anymore.
Also [zigpy_deconz.zigbee.application] No watchdog response
I have some bulbs that are online but wont work anyway. Sigh.
Zigpy_Deconz is the library ZHA uses to communicate with the Conbee
Understandable. Tried repluggin the stick, rebooting the host. Same result.
Iirc you had the same issue with deCONZ
Yes, that's why i migrated to ZHA.
But your issues wouldn't be solved
[7:00 PM] DanielGr: 0xD0 and 0xE9 again and half the stuff works. Great.
And it worked perfectly until today.
Yes, because the problem hasn't been solved
I know.
So i am not sure why you switched, but either way it is a issue due to the network you have.
I switched because i wanted to get rid of Deconz and have it in HA instead and maybe that would solve my problem. Ofc i couldn't know that before i switched. But now i know it didn't help.
So how do i solve it?
I was midst debugging with you
So i don't know ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Then you left, so i really have no clue what's going on.
I "solved" it then by moving to ZHA instead. And it worked until now. So something is acting up again.
If the problem is in the network, nothing is solved by software.
I know.
But it's weird that it just overnight crashes. I reboot HA every night so it's probably after the reboot it crashed.
But i wont just try to replace the Conbee stick with a new one in case that fixes is. I need to find the root cause.
That won't fix it either.
I don't know how to debug now, as your using ZHA
But in general, try to figre out the connections between those devices that occured with the error code
Hopefully someone else knows. Thanks for your help!
And then see what those locations are in your house
Could be bulbs that are in a metal frame
Or just a different brand?
I dont know, but try to think in that direction ๐
Yeah i'll see what i can find. Thanks! Maybe i'll have to move away from Zigbee on certain devices.
Rebooting HA nightly is unlikely to be helping
That's just automated with all my dockers and not a troubleshooting step ๐
In deconz, i would have checked the full map and see the lines in between. Then figure out if there's routers in the middle.
Zigbee networks rebooting could result in this stuff.
they don't like this
And backups and updates.
I reboot HA all the time when making configuration changes...
The addon doesn't reboot with it (if using deCONZ)
Reboot != restart
I used Deconz in a separate docker before so no. But now i use ZHA.
That's like mixing up sleeping and being dead
Sure. So any idea whats the issue is?
Odds are, as mentioned, something's going wrong in your mesh itself
Yeah. Let's say a bulb is acting up. If i cut the power to it would the network "repair" itself?
Maybe
I suspect you're a lot better off with a forum post where you can lay out all the devices you have, what their firmware is (where known), the diagrams of the mesh (at a resolution people can read the details), and a history of all the problems and everything you've done
Alright. Thanks. Is there a better visualization than the config/zha/visualization? I cant seem to be able to move stuff around.
I don't use ZHA
Yeah i need something more reliable than this...
Well, the reliability is down to either your devices (some brands are known to be poorly behaved/unstable/problematic) or your mesh layout
Probably my mesh layout then because i haven't done anything about it. There's powered devices everywhere so then should mesh just fine?
Or how should i aim to improve the mesh layout?
You forgot to mention my message too #zigbee-archived message
Hello ๐
Anyone here using Sonoff SNZB-03 motion sensor?
This sensor is spamming me with status every minute, after a few days it become very hard to load status card as there are too many records...
What am I doing wrong?
on zigbee2mqtt i keep seeing this for bulbs in my home:
error Failed to ping 'Living Ceiling Bulb 1'
error Failed to read state of 'Living Ceiling Bulb 1' after reconnect
and so on
anyone know what is all about?
Usually that's a sign that it's either poorly connected to the mesh, or that it's just a piece of junk
they work good on ZHA so my guess is poorly connected
even tho they work ok
something is up with the network maybe
Power cycle each router. With min downtime of 5s
That's sooo much work. I'll probably just cut the power to the house for a while.
it finally arrive
now it sais that comes with a dummy firmware, but I remember to select the option for mqtt firmware ๐ฎ
I just moved from using an SD card to a USB drive. I took a snapshot before and restored the snapshot. Everything boots and looks fine except the ZHA integration. Couldn't start application for zigpy in the logs ๐ค
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?
2021-03-24 13:50:45 ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.config_entries] Error setting up entry ConBee II, s/n: DE2198859 - dresden elektronik ingenieurtechnik GmbH for zha

Could the device path have changed or something (I haven't moved the conbee adapter to another USB port)?
Can I check the current device path that is set?
I moved the Conbee stick to another USB port (USB 2) and now it connects to a few of my Aqara temp devices...
But not lights or switches.
I shouldn't have to remove and add them all again, right?
But flashing the stick is really, really easy. It's downloading the software (you just need a free account of that by texas instruments I believe), and the correct firmware, and just flash / RTFM ๐
Argh, frustrating ๐ Maybe I'll "just" remove ZHA and repair everything... So many things ๐ฆ
Hi all, what is the easiest way to update Osram / Ledvance GU5.3 spot lamp firmware without their gateway?
both zigbee2mqtt and ZHA support firmware update
for that device
and by default they do it itself you dont need to do anything
I have another issue currently that relates to this. I have a NAS computer that is running Home Assistant and has a CC2531 usb stick plugged in. The lamps are currently paired to my Philips Hue gateway.
The range for pairing is not long enough to pair them when they are in their proper place in the downstairs bathroom
So I would need to get them powered on near / next to the NAS computer for pairing
@faint whale let me stop you right there
Or find some other solution. The Hue gateway does not support firmware updates for these spot lights
do not do that
if you do that you will have a network that wont work proper
what you can do is add more routers
Please enlighten me ๐
make the network big enough so it can work everywhere
routers in zigbee are usually devices powered by power network (not devices with batterys)
as example your osram bulb is a router
if you pair a device around coordinator and move it to the end of your house and coordinator cant reach it ... well you can imagine what happens
#zigbee-archived message from the pinned messages explains how the mesh works
Hey everyone,
my deconz integration all of sudden stopped working. I can't reach the phoscon UI anymore and I don't know what to do. When opening the web UI for the deconz plugin I can still access the Virtual deconz UI however when I want to go to the phoscon UI it says that "the website under http://myip:8123/api/hassio_ingress/oIWAUi3-h2GaDnk3kcaUD7SFPLmJqhRkVqSXzqW5TTk/pwa/index.html is having problems or it may have been permanently moved to a new web address".
#zigbee-archived #330944238910963714
I updated both the deconz integration to version 6.8.0 and home assistant core to core-2021.3.4. I am running home assistant supervised on my debian 10 server.
@ivory hound @sour shadow Thank you very much!
Another question: Is there some way to visualize my current zigbee network in Home Assistant?
Setting up zigbee2mqtt at the moment
Then there's a native UI that has a map tab
then no, only in native ui of z2mqtt
Thanks again ๐
turns out here is an event based trigger in zigbee2mqtt like zha has
but you have to use mqtt autodiscovery
and i use the old way, just my luck ๐
why wouldnt you use it?
yah i said i name my devices in files more control over them etc
stupid decision
i'll enable home assistant auto discovery
but not now coz i have to rename all stuff
pffa
Is it possible to pair multiple devices at the same time? Like, if I have two zigbee bulbs in the same...light fixture. Can I pair them both at the same time?
Should other gateways from different manufacturers show up in the ZHA network map?
Got it
I seem to have an issue pairing a Philips Hue dimmer switch with ZHA. It finds a device with the status stuck at "Starting Interview"
Is this something that could be solved by updating the firmware on the CC2531?
@warm estuary yes
https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/#testing-quirks-in-development-in-docker-based-install <- Tutorial
I think there were some changes though (Aqara battery) that require either an HA update or a zigpy update.
That's why I would download the entire repo but only delete the current philips folder and copy over the new one (https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/tree/dev/zhaquirks/philips)
(If you mean Hass.io -> HassOS (or also Home Assistant Supervised)), then the process should basically be the following:
Copy the new philips folder in a folder called temp_quirk (in the config folder). (So there's a folder config -> folder temp_quirk -> folder philips -> then all the files)
Install Portainer, unhide the homeassistant container(s) (if they are hidden), open a terminal for the homeassistant container.
cd /usr/local/lib/python3.8/site-packages/zhaquirks/
rm -rf __pycache__/
rm -rf philips/
cp -a /config/temp_quirk/philips .
Restart Home Assistant
hey @tacit steppe have you come any further on this? I am also currently stuck on these eventsโฆ
this was regarding identifying subtype events or something right @old cedar ? I'm reading back through the thread now
ok so for those specific devices they were kinda f'ed. They Osram/Lightify discontinued something regarding them and they missed their last firmware update to better send out zigbee states. I ended up ditching them for Hue bulbs/switches and never really revisited it
but based on what Tinkerer was saying, you should be able to use ZHA and log out any/all events being sent out from a normal zigbee device and then use the conditionals stuff that was mentioned a few messages up from what you replied to
what I am trying is: I have these light switches (don't get confused by zig2mqtt but they just have the appropriate documentation): https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/6735_6736_6737.html#action-enum
I am trying to hook into these action eventsโฆ
I came from deConz and its Websocket, there it worked, but I wanted it in ZHA with HomeAssistant for cohesion
ZHA and ConBee II issue - I removed some of the LightLink groups by accident . Now itโs a total mess, lights turn on and off randomly when pressing IKEA remotes. Can I get the LightLink groups back? And what are they used for?
So I currently try listening to zha_event like so, but nothing happens on button press.
(ah, too bad, no pics allowed it seems)
can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

So it worked in the end and verified?
Confirmed that replugging the stick works. I tried turning on "light.garten_calla_1" (00:17:88:01:06:86:fa:07 / 0x5e16) multiple times and reading an attribute on the Basic cluster. (Here's one failed attempt on turning on the light and (I think) also reading an attribute: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/NvSw2zjTPb/)
(This is the issue where older ZLL Hue lights (no Silabs yet) don't respond to unicast requests for multiple hours) (but they still respond to multicast messages: ZHA groups work just fine)
I also "confirmed" the issue on LCF002, LCS001, LLC020 (and I think) LCT010 too.
This never happens on any newer (Silabs, ZHA profile and "Bluetooth compatible") Hue light.
Since this happens with TI coordinators, I thought this would also happen with zigbee2mqtt (if it's not related to the radio library)
But I didn't find any GitHub issues yet (not sure what to search for exactly though lol)
I can't recall having this issue with an Elelabs stick (and bellows) but I'm not sure exactly. I did re-pair some of the lights after network migration but that doesn't seem to make any differences.
Do you happen to have a log containing requests before and after the unplug? Preferably to the same devices.
Hi everyone, do i need to use mqtt to control groups in zigbee2mqtt or is their a way to see the group as device or entity?
Hi! Do you usually pair your remotes directly to the bulbs (binding?) or always use HA automations? On the one hand I guess the automation gives more freedom but the binding works even if HA would be down ๐ค
i always use HA automations for this task.
How can I listen to zha events, like we do deconz?
zha_event
Doesn't work. But I found the log.
I'm getting a lot of message failures for my light groups.
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/tGMJ4R2RGr/ here's a snippet of the log
It's a group of four lights where at least three of them are really hit or miss with on/off commands
All IKEA.
Latest firmware.
Is Zigbee bad at groups? My Z-wave handles it beautifully.
Might be better to use ZHA groups (rather than Home Assistant's light groups)
(Only "one" message is sent to turn the lights (rather than 4))
i managed to control my bulbs with the bind option in z2m. I didn't know this option exists ๐
Hi good people. I have a question. Moving away from the IKEA Tradfri gateway, I've installed a Conbee II. Make this short: When using deconz, is there any way to poll/ping the tradfri(zigbee) devices? I use switch on mains on a few, and it takes ages to update their unavailable state.
poeple, i did create a zigbee group in zigbee2mqtt
how to control a group in home assistant
it does not appear in mqtt devices
@molten linden got my zigbee coordinator today-- amazing device, works great ๐
transactions are not supported in z2m groups?
not as far as I know - if you have a device which is normally powered to mains (can act as a router within zigbee) you should expect it to take up to 30 minutes for the mesh to rebuild around it
Any clue about this? Or should i just ignore? home assistant WARNING (MainThread) [supervisor.addons.options] Unknown option 'new_api' for Zigbee2mqtt
If i use conbeeII and not Deconz can the firmware still be easily updated or do i need Deconz for that?
I started using zibee2mqtt instead.
Zigbee2mqtt and conbee appears to be a bad choice based on user feedback I've seen lately @balmy ginkgo
No, that's mentioned in their docs at https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/integration/home_assistant.html#mqtt-discovery - groups must be manually created
@sour shadow i did this, but i did lose transactions with grouo =O
What is "transactions"?
You know, you don't have to tag me...
If transition doesn't work, you likely didn't define the group correctly
Hello #zigbee-archived
Im trying to bind my remotes to specific lights via the "Device bindings" in ZHA -> Manage clusters.
It looks like it works in the log, but it doesnt turn on the light. Am I misunderstanding the function of this or do I need to do anything else to get it to work?
The goal is ofcourse to make the remotes work even if HA is down.. Im trying this with both Ikea 5-button remote and Hue dimmer switch.
Thanks for the clarification. I'll create a script in HA.
IMO if you have switches that need to be able to be physically pressed, either look at implementing smart switches, or use zigbee buttons for controls instead and 'train' housemates to use them instead, eg the new tradfri buttons
In the long run, I will swap the switches ๐ Until then, I had to make a compromise with my better half. Smarthouse all you want, as long there's a physical button on the wall.
Fair enough. ๐
Does anyone know where people publish new device handlers? Does an index/list exist somewhere?
the zigbee groups are only made in one way without error in z2m soo....don't know what you are talking
Hi, I have connected some philips hue light bulbs with ZHA. Only I have an strange thing with the bulbs, when I turned off the bulbs they turned on again in 1 sec. When I repeat it for the second time the bulbs stay off. Can anyone give me some advice ?
ahah this happens with me with ha version core-2021.3.3 and it fixes in core-2021.3.4
soo.....dunno if you are in core-2021.3.4

@verbal shale Generally, don't tag people to ask for help - it comes across as bad manners, youโre demanding somebody answers you. Itโs different if youโre thanking somebody, obviously. If you do tag somebody keep it polite and respectful. Remember that everybody is a volunteer, and nobody has to help you, and people may block you.
Similarly, please donโt DM (direct message) people asking for help. It also comes across as demanding, and means that others canโt learn from what you do.
Finally, please keep tagging people in replies to a minimum. That too can become annoying very quickly and should be used only when it's necessary (such as if it's been a long time, or there's multiple conversations going on). When using Discord's new Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.

poor power delivery on the device you are using ? running latest 3.x.0 firmware ? running too many concurrent connections in config ?
Was not what I was asking
device: Intel Compute Stick Plus Usb Hub wiith is own power
runign last firmware
yes
update yesterday
to many concurrent connection? no...just 13 bulbs
there is a zigbee2mqtt concurrent connections settings
and a group was created for those 13 bulbs
I found 6 to be the sweetspot
This is the firmware you are running ? CC2652R_coordinator_20210120.zip
# Optional: configure adapter concurrency (e.g. 2 for CC2531 or 16 for CC26X2R1) (default: null, uses recommended value)
adapter_concurrent: null
in the config
zigbee2mqtt config?
yes
ok
I'm using 1000 ๐๐คช

6 seems really low
I had a discussion with Koen, and he adviced me to try 12
I had some stability issues, and 6 was stable for me
for the CC1352p2
Appears 16 is the default for the 26xx series atleast
That is as expected
That error means the firmware has locked up or stick is irresponsive
A replug would also have solved it mostly
The CC2530/31 do that regularly, the newer sticks not so much - at least on the 2021 firmware
i have a trรฅdfri ikea bulb and a conbee2 usb stick. This should be enough to control the bulb through HA or i need a ikea hub?
That's enough - assuming the bulb is relatively near the stick
im trying to add it to HA with zigbee home automation but it is not discovering it
You typically get a range of one to two walls, depending on the walls
my conbee 2 is not working properly...
LQI: Unknown
RSSI: Unknown
And it is not discovering my ikea bulb, any ideas?
Well, if it's not working properly, it won't discover any bulb...
Coordinator doesn't have either of those
Are you sure you've permitted joins and have put the IKEA bulb into joining mode?
what do you mean by permitted joins? And my ikea bulb is on all the time, turn it on/off when im trying to pair it but nothing is happening. I am trying the deConz addon now but no luck
You have to put the device in pairing mode
Simply having it on doesn't count
Similarly the integration isn't constantly allowing new devices to join, you have to turn it on
Anyone know how to get the dashbaord for zigbee2mqtt? Can't for the life of me get it to work
It just showed up for me
its in the sidebar, but getting 502 bad gateway
Have you tried going direct to it?
Didnt even realise I could
Actually, think ive found the issue
I thought you could run Zigbee2MQTT alongside deconz with the same stick?
looks like its failing to start because the serialport is already in use
fgs, several people on facebook told me i could run them side by side lol
They were idiots badly informed
i did think it was a bit odd
Now fails to start because it cant connect to the adapter, hmm
in zha:
is /config/neighbors supposed to hold states? can I replace it with empty tmpfs on boot?
ok so it's not even related to zha, must be some zha_map artefact
I have integrated HomematicIP into the existing alarm system, I would like to add zigbee motion detectors. Whats the best way to do this?
There are three Zigbee options with Home Assistant (regardless of how you install it). These are:
deCONZ is relatively stable and mature with its own UI (and Discord server). It can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, or natively. Only the ConBee range of sticks and RaspBee GPIO boards are supported. Known working devices are documented, and how to request support for a new device is documented too (you can't add unsupported devices yourself).
zha is actively developed as part of Home Assistant Core, using the zigpy stack, the UI also being part of Home Assistant. The EmberZNet based sticks are recommended, but there are other options. There is no list of supported devices, as any standards compliant device should work. Devices that require extra support are listed, and adding unsupported devices is documented (you can't add unsupported devices yourself).
Zigbee2MQTT is very actively developed and can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, and natively. As of 1.15 has a native UI, and it also uses MQTT for control and configuration. It supports mostly TI based sticks, with the recommended options being the Zig-Ah-Zig-Ah!, Slaesh's stick (though be aware of the well documented communication problems with the seller), Tube's CC2652P2 based coordinators and the TI Launch-XL boards. The known working devices are well documented (which usually includes how to pair them so you don't have to find the manual), and adding unsupported devices is also documented.
Pick one of those, depending on your needs and wants
my zigbee devices run via deconz, i would like to add the motion sensor to my HomematicIP alarm system.
Ah, your question sounded like you didn't have any Zigbee
I doubt very much that you can feed the entities in HA to Homeatic
I haven't found a way either. is there a way to do this through automation?
Seems highly unlikely
Best you could hope for I suspect would be triggering the alarm through HA
Anyone know how to re-pair Hue bulbs when they're not connected to a Hue Hub? They were connected to deconz, but want them on zigbee2mqtt now
yes that works quite normally via the HomematicIP components. As I said, I wanted you to integrate the zigbee motion sensors into the alarm system, I just don't know exactly how ...
Well, that'd be done from the Homematic side, it has to be able to pull things in
Uninstall zha-map, remove folder
got my ikea bulb working with the ikea hub but not with combee 2 ๐ฆ
thx, did that a year ago, the folder was the only thing remaining ๐
so i can't change this or do it somehow via automation?
@stuck sleet When using Discord's new Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
I've already pointed to all the options I know of... I can't magic something else up
then i will see if i can get a new suitable siren and then rebuild it with alarm.
Thanks
i just went through this. you can use Touchlink if your stick supports it. are you still using deconz hardware?
Yeah. I've just realised I can repair my hue bulbs with the serial though to the hue hub
Then remove them and they'll start pairing
yep, that'll work. if you have hue hardware laying around it's a lot easier
or the dimming remote i believe
stupid question about Hue bulbs as i've never actually used mine. is there a setting to tell the bulbs what to do when power is lost/restored?
Yes, there is
is that exposed via ZHA somewhere?
Hey all, spent a lot of time trying to research how to proceed setting up a DHT11 sensor and connecting it through to HA
I have two PI3s in my setup, one running HA, another running Z2M with everything working fine for controlling tuya lights
If anyone has a link or a clue where to look - I just want to wire in the DHT11 and have it speak to the MQTT broker
On the z2m side
@remote finch this has nothing to do with zigbee, you'd probably be better served in #diy-archived
Ok I'll get some esps then, was going to anyway.
I thought cos I had the pi sitting there doing the lights I could use that
but if you are saying esphome/tasmota is easy to integrate with HA
will look into it, thanks
you can hook it up to the Pi using one of the GPIO pins plus a resistor, but #diy-archived would be the place to discuss that
Yes, you can issue a cluster command to configure it. I don't know what it is off hand... let me look
so in the philips on off cluster
there is a power_on_state attr
level control cluster has a level attr and color control cluster has a color temp attr
now... as for what the values are for on off... I dunno. It may be documented in z2m docs tho
lemme look there...
@mellow geode do you know off the top of your head what the numeric values are for the onoff attr?
for the onoff attr looks like value 0 == off, 255 == recover last, 1 == on
I def have to figure out a better way to do this in the UI.... rn it is a mess
I think that a few other values need to be set for recovering the state
Ah, itโs in the Z2M code
Also possible to set in the UI
Although pre-defined actions would be nice
Also, I think that the power_on_state attribute is present in some kind of Zigbee standard. (Thatโs why it doesnโt work when provided with a manufacturer attribute)
It should also work on all newer IKEA (Zigbee 3.0) lights
Itโs officially called "StartUpOnOff" (https://zigbeealliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/docs-15-0014-05-0plo-Lighting-OccupancyDevice-Specification-V1.0.pdf)
Thereโs more information in this GitHub discussion: https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy/discussions/660#discussioncomment-418462
Although the IKEA plugs do not support that attribute (afaik), I think the BlitzWolf ones do (with the quirk on the zhaquirks repo)
thanks both of you ๐
Perhaps it should be added as an attribute in zigpy(?)
Then the individual quirks could be removed
Yeah, it seems like it's attribute 0x4003 on the OnOff cluser in the ZCL v7 (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Koenkk/zigbee-herdsman/master/docs/Zigbee Cluster Library Specification v7.pdf)
@jolly narwhal What do you mean, it seems to work fine. Though i only am using 7 sensors on it now. (Zigbee2MQTT with Conbee2)
need help
I did port my _TZ3400_keyjhapk from zha to zigbee2mqtt
and not I cant see battery or buttons :S
its a zigbee wireless 2gang switch
I'm trying to remove an Hue bulb that is still attached to my v1 Hub. Moving it the deconz... I can use the Hue API to put it into touchlink mode, the bulb blinks but remains attached to the Hue Hub? Shouldn't it be disconnected from the Hue hub?
I've never had success removing the hue bulbs unless using the dimmer
That always works flawlessly
I have three dimmers although I never use them for anything...
I've removed hue bulbs via the Hue Assistant app just as recently as last week - they are removed properly and are automatically put into pairing mode once again without needing to be reset via power/switch (moved from a hue hub to deconz)
can anyone that have zigbee2mqtt and electrolama zig-a-zig-ah coordinator link for me a config (z2mqtt conf) that is working well to compare it with mine?
ofc remove network keys passwords etc
thank you
shoddely copy tinkerers config
Hi please I need assistance...
My zigbee device dongle is not working when I plug to a raspberry pi
You'd better tell us how you are installing HA, what dongle it is, what zigbee implementation you are using and what the logs say
for a start
that answers one of four questions
good morning. How can I find out the Zigbee channel for my ZHA instance on an RPi4b setup and change the channel?
thanks!
The installation type is home assistance core
Then make sure that the stick shows up in /dev/ - if it doesn't you've got an OS level issue
Changing it after network formation isn't yet supported. You'll have to use radio-specific tools to do this.
OK, I don't plan on rebuilding and I know that DeConz had an option but I didn't like that interface. I couldn't get anything to connect but it may have been another reason for that but I am solid on ZHA.
You should be able to temporarily use the deconz gui to change it
But channel 15 works with 99.9% of devices
this seller was benn a freaking aswsome, receive the packages in 8 days and well protected xD
I already bought 14 bulbs, 2 doors sensors, temperatura sensor, switchs ... Sorry if you considere this spam but i'm just share my experience xD
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_AXjv2G
i like to read these since there are so many options out there, its more of a recommendation based on good experience, they seem to sell stuff i've been ordering and/or will need to order so i'll bookmark them
i am just fighting over 3 eur items that were not included in my shipment with some random shop in ali. Asked for a pic.. of what?? the missing components? ๐ Might blacklist that shop but since mistakes happen i will of course see this to the end and might even reorder the items should they refund (if not sending another package)
I understand you very well, ive been there too
Afternoon all! I am having some issues getting my zigbee2mqtt connected to my home assistant setup. Here is what I have: zigbee2mqtt is running on a rPi 4 in the house, in a docker container. I also have a mosquitto instance running in a separate container on the same device (not used with HA - it's for other experiments!). My Home Assistant is setup on a server located in my workshop. I have installed the mosquitto addon in home assistant, and configured a user and password. The configuration is the default as setup by the addon (I understand this is correct). I have configured the username and password in the zigbee2mqtt configuration yaml, along with the server address. If I put the server, username and password settings for the local mqtt server, connection is made correctly, but I am getting an error with the home assistant settings: "Not connected to MQTT server!" I would appreciate any comments about how to resolve this connection. I am running the newest versions of the different software packages. Many thanks!
The add-on would replace your existing Mosquitto broker
So, pick one of them, shut down the other
The local mqtt is not visible to Home Assistant - I use it for completely unrelated stuff. I only used it to test the connection to see if the problem was at the zigbee2mqtt end. As it is on a different device, the IP address is different, so there should be no issue with it running for other stuff.
Install MQTT Explorer and use it to check the authentication details on the broker
https://github.com/home-assistant/core/pull/47208 should be ready for merge. (ZHA lock services)
@sour shadow Connection through MQTT Explorer using the home assistant URL, user name and password connects as expected, so I guess there is something I need to do with the zigbee2mqtt configuration
@karmic cloud posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/hkjZZz8R2F/
^^ This is the configuration I have in zigbee2mqtt. I have tried with homeassistant: as true and as false, with no difference to the result.
Nice job jesse! Thanks for picking this up!
Anyone using Sonoff ZBMINI? Cause I've got always lqi 0, and dunno if I should worry, or chill out
Probably a silly question, but please have understanding for a confused noobโฆ
Have been playing with HA for couple of weeks now, installed on Pie 4 (4GB, 64bit).
Thinking about adding a Zigbee controller, e.g. RaspBee 2, but got properly confused reading about installation and SD imagesโฆ So, can I stick the RaspBee into the same Pie 4 that Iโm running the HA on? Or does RaspBee need a dedicated Pie to run on?
same is fine.
i think if i'd known ahead of time i probably would have gotten a TI controller device myself...
tnx @old kernel!
I really want this guy: https://www.tubeszb.com/product/usb_coord/11
what's the advantage of TI over e.g. RaspBee?
raspbee/conbee is made for the deconz/phoscon zigbee control frameworks. The ZHA and zigbee2mqtt support weren't (and aren't) the core target market.
I think support is still experimental in zigbee2mqtt at least.
I use a conbee with ZHA and it works okay.
cool, tnx! will have to do some more googling to understand the nuances... ๐

tuya
anyone here have a tradfri remote? I got the thing paired once but I reset it and moved to a new coordinator, now I can't get it to pair
nvm, guess I needed to complain here to get it to work
Anyone with suggestions on reasonably prices Zigbee or Z-wave E12 Candelabra Bulbs? (I prefer Tunable white (warm yellow to soft white) to RGB, but RGB is okay if there's nothing else) Like these, but these are $20 each in the US: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002126012508.html
Raspbee will become useless if you ever decide to move from a Pi to something else, so please do consider a USB stick for that reason also (Speaking from experience, I started out on raspbee)
lmao tuya
some of the worst smart devices on the market
i think we've all gotten duped by tuya shit
and then they have 24398 different apps that they sell to companies
is tuya the stuff that has like everything just shows up as a generic tuya device basically?
is Xiaomi really that good? which products are great
basically
Guys does the Aeotec Z-stick gen5 work for zigbee or only zwave?
just z-wave
any recommended sticks?
The known working devices are well documented (which usually includes how to pair them so you don't have to find the manual), and adding unsupported devices is also documented.
Pick your integration, then pick your stick ๐
the ones I make ๐คฃ
If you're in the US, yes
I just got my international shipping down a few $
so with Zigbee2MQTT you can just run it natively w/o HA?
Yes, though it has no automation capabilities
darn
It's designed as a bridge between Zigbee and your choice of automation platform
so lets say i waned to just write a bunch of python scripts w/o HA.. any good ways of doing that?
i wanted to try a super duper minimalist setup
Z2M just requires that your own stuff handles MQTT
"All" you have to do is publish the right messages, and understand the ones it sends
interesting
Z2M does have a UI, if you want to manually do everything
but im sure i can script with python somehow
as long as i can see and alter the states
There's been a few others on the Z2M Discord who've talked about the same thing... maybe they actually got somewhere, if you can find them
i love HA but i wanna experiment with a super minimalist setup to create automations from first principals.. i'll probably continue to use HA after that
@sour shadow can u send me the z2m discord?
should read docs better before ordering, seems i got down-voted white-label tuya inside the blitzwolf
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/ and scroll down ๐
(right at the bottom, under Support)
Good point, tnx!
Based on a true story
@sour shadow - i solved my issue with the external zigbee2mqtt not connecting to the mosquitto home assistant add-on: I needed to define the server with the IP address; using the server hostname didn't work (but did in MQTT Discovery). Thanks for your help earlier.
Tinkerer is away for 14m 49s with a message :point_right: ๐ฆก ๐ฆก ๐ฆก ๐ ๐
You can also build directly around zigpy if you're already using Python. It's what ZHA basically does.
hmm
But documentation is a little lacking
Dunno, I don't have any
If you are interested in doing it around zigpy, I can try writing up some better docs for how to code up a minimal application around it.
It doesn't hide the zigbee parts at all though, so it won't make a ton of sense if you aren't a little familiar with Zigbee internals
i would love that
letโs talk later when Iโm actually ready to take on a project like that
you think other people would be interested @austere patio
Dunno. I'm sure many shy away when they don't see examples or docs
hmm
well do you know how large the AppDeamon community is? that may give us a sense of demand for how many people want to code home automation in python
Can anyone comment if it's operation as expected in ZHA for a coordinator by itself to show as "Device is Offline"? Tried googling and haven't seen anyone else with a similar question
Is it the Sonoff ZBbridge?
CC2531 from Itead
Sorry, should have included that useful tidbit. It's running Z-Stack Home 1.2, although I'm not sure which build, but I believe one from 2019...
If ZHA works then it's just a UI issue
Hello people.
May be somebody knows. Do you have seen some sensors which detects home many people are in room? Or enter / exit?
How I can detect that there are no peoples in room left?
Just testing my new conbee2 coordinator. First ikea bulb paired fast and easy. Now I can't pair anymore bulbs, the zha binding does not find shit. Any ideas?
Bulbs are in pair mode ofc
Hello ๐
Anyone here using Sonoff SNZB-03 motion sensor?
This sensor is spamming me with status every minute, after a few days it become very hard to load status card as there are too many records...
What am I doing wrong?
This is the log:
[0x4737:1:0x000a] ZCL request 0x0000: [[0]]
[0xdf23:1:0x000a] ZCL deserialize: <ZCLHeader frame_control=<FrameControl frame_type=GLOBAL_COMMAND manufacturer_specific=False is_reply=False disable_default_response=True> manufacturer=None tsn=14 command_id=Command.Read_Attributes>
Zha binding is not supposed to find shit. It is supposed to bind shit. It is supposed to bind for example a shit bulb to shitter remote. But before it could bind shit, shit should be added to the network. Usually done via "add devices shit" button on zha integration page in the bottom right corner. If these are 1st devices, then should be relatively close to coordinator. You have about 60s to add devices before adding more shit is disabled
I get it. I just added the first bulb easy. Now im trying to add any more bulba and no luck. Tried with xiaomi switch and worked fast and easy. So out of 30 bulbs I paired only 3
I mean why did it work with one bulb and the rest are not pairing? Even bulbs that are closer to coordinator than the first one
Like getting 5 bulbs in pair mode and zha only binding two ๐
I think it's actually congbee2 sucking. CC2531 seems to work better
Likely just the IKEA bulbs being hard to put into joining mode or you waiting more than 60s
Do they blink after you do the on/off sequence six times?
Yeah ofc, as I said one ikea bulb (the first ome) just linked instantly. So are my xiaomi switches. But the rest of ikea bulbs no luck
With the CC2531 bulbs seems to pair just as fine... Conbee 2 thrash? ๐
Both of those are tbh
Nevermind CC2531 found bulbs but only paired one
Then what are the good ones, zzh!?
zzh, tubeโs, etc... there are references pinned to the channel
Coordinators don't look for new devices, the devices look for a network to join
I guess im getting zzh!
I've found the IKEA stuff to be somewhat tricky to join but even the CC2531 works fine-ish for small networks
Try cutting power to the bulb for 10s before trying to join it
I just dont understand how an ikea bulb can be paired instantly and the rest are not even found. Try witj cc2531, it does find the bulbd but dont pair them. This seems so odd
The bulb likely joins the network but refuses to announce itself. Some IKEA stuff does that.
I dont know anymore, thid is demoralizing
There is one bulb that pairs instantly
so weird
Should be better pairing one by one?
Maybe having 5 bulbs in pair mode at once fucks it up? The bulb that workd just fine is a single one
It wouldn't hurt to try one by one ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Lol
Game changing
I had three bulbs connected to same "power supply" that i couldnt pair as I said. Dismounted two of them, and the other one seems to be detected. Now it is stuck in "interview" but at least it is there
Hi all! Has anybody here any idea how to pair a Heiman HS3MS motion detector? Tried multi presses and log press but no inverview seen ๐ฆ
I had CC2531 with Z2M and now Sonoff Bridge with ZHA. The 3 ikea bulbs I have on one supply were a pain to pair with both coordinators. As they're E27 bulbs I have to turn them to power down and up. Never managed to get them to pair all together.
Yeah it was just that. Three bulbs i couldnt pair at once, I paired them succesfully one by one. Everyone should know this.
Now I have to disconnect so many bulbs to pair one by one
I can see my device connecting in the mosquito broker logs but it isnt displaying as a device in the mqtt integrations panel. Any suggestions??
I assume you're using Zigbee2MQTT?
Actually, ive realised i am probably in the wrong channel. It's a shelly switch so goes straight to MQTT
Yeah, that's more #integrations-archived ๐
Ill head over there now
Hey Guys I'm using ZHA and I've got most of my philips hue bulbs added but it seems two of them dont want to enter pairing mode. Does anyone know of a work around for this type of issue. I remember typing the serial number in at some point to pair problem lights.
But dont see any option to do something like that at first glance
That only works with the hue bridge. But Iโve done it to re-pair a bulb to the bridge and the. Delete it there which puts the bulb back into pairing mode.
Anyone know how to force a Sylvania Smart+ zigbee bulb into pairing mode?
Figured it out, power cycle it rapidly 5 or 6 times
reset them with hue thief
Touchlink reset
anybody know of a br40 zigbee rgb bulb?
Does anyone know after flashing my zzh! stick with the firmware
do I need to unplug it to get it back into non BSL mode?
or let it stay inside my pc
I unplugged it and worked :p
Morning guys - I have just hacked the lidl Silvercrest Zigbee hub so as to work directly with ZHA using these instructions https://paulbanks.org/projects/lidl-zigbee/ha.html and works great I have a lidl GU10 warm white and cool white colour lamp which paired to the hub and shows up in HA however I can change the white colour temp and brightness but cannot make it change colour. Before I converted the hub I set it up in the Tuya app and there was a second tab which when you switched to it the lamp when into colour mode. Has anybody got any experience with this kit and how to change to colour mode. I have not used zigbee before today so brand new to it.
Got it working just needed to repair it again
Good morning all, I have a sonoff zigbee hub flashed with tasmota that keeps disconnecting from the devices. It will work for days/weeks then all of a sudden stop reporting from the temp/him sensors and the buttons will stop working. Is zigbee supposed to be this flaky or am I doing something wrong?
I haven't used the Silvercrest hub but I have Lidl devices. If it's a GU10 with colour temp and brightness then all you'll get in HA is colour temp and brightness. If it's an RGB GU10 then I'm not sure what the answer is. I have some Lidl RGB GU10's and they're fine, but I've had them on CC2531 and Sonoff ZB Bridge co-ordinators. Never used a proprietary hub before.
Can anyone help. Im having problems with a sonoff zigbee bridge. I have flashed tasmota on it but cant get the uart file uploaded. I keep getting Invalid file signature
Are you running zigbee2tasmota on it or are you using it with ZHA via serial over tcp?
Is there a problem with opple 6 button switches using ZHA. I can find it in ZHA but it doesn't have any button events. Is my switch broken or is it software related?
What is suggested to use as a zigbee gateway for rpi4?
โ๏ธ One of those
Do you use opple switches ?@sour shadow

If I felt I could help, I would have volunteered a response. Tagging me to demand my attention... that's a bit rude ๐
I remembered incorrectly then, sorry
I don't even use ZHA ๐
I don't know if my problem is a ZHA thing... but anyway, sorry if it came across as rude.
What does the device signature look like? https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#reporting-issues
@austere patio I'm running ZHA via serial over tcp
Take a look at your homeassistant.log file to see what's wrong
home-assistant.log preferably! ๐
Yeah, that's the one ๐
Any hint as to what I'm looking for?
Start by filtering lines that contain one of zigpy|zha|bellows
Or looking at the entries in the log surrounding the times when your sensors stopped working. They'd be generated by one of the above libraries
PM me the log or upload it to somewhere like https://paste.ubuntu.com/ (after removing any personally-identifying information, if you care) if you have issues finding the relevant section
Hi Guys, i really need someone who can help me.
Situation:
Running Home Assistant on a Pi with an Conbee II Zigbee stick installed.
Try to configure my first Zigbee device using deCONZ (but also tried ZHA).
This device is an EcoDim.07 (dimmer) an is successfully discovered in both apps (deconz and zha).
But power on/off or dimm doens't work.
@austere patio I just rebooted the server this morning so there is not much in the log
I may need to give it a few hours
Serial over TCP over WiFi is likely the problem
It's a little hacky to begin with and bringing WiFi into the mix makes it even worse
So weak Wifi Signal?
is there a better way to do this with the current hardware I have?
The current hardware is likely the problem to begin with so not really ๐
lol
ok. In an ideal situation what would be the best hardware setup to bring zigbee based sensors into HA
If the connection to the bridge is broken, ZHA via bellows will try reconnecting over and over to your bridge
If that doesn't work, something is very broken if you say your entire network stops functioning
But without logs this is all speculation. Enable https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#debug-logging and when this problem happens again, you'll have everything to properly diagnose the issue.
Thanks for your help. ill give it a go and reach out if i hit a wall
Afternoon all! I am having some fun with a Drayton Schneider Wiser TRV part number WV704R0A0902 over zigbee2mqtt. Auto discovery in HA identifies the valve, and enables me to set the target temperature. If I set the target temperature to,say, 17C, then at some point later something else (I think the valve itself) it changes the target temperature back to 20. I donโt see any mqtt messages passing which could have made the change, and at the moment I have not made any other configuration changes (such as automations). Has anyone else had similar experiences?
This is the log when I've removed it and paired it with zha again.
I can't really make, head or tail out of it.
ZHA reports that it has been added successfully, but the (tiny) blue blinks that you can see when you press a button can't be seen. Is it possible that ZHA deactivated the switch somehow. I can't read that attribute (or any other) after it has paired, so I can't poll the status.
That's normal with battery powered devices that aggressively sleep
The device signature specifically is what would tell you if a quirk has been applied to the device or not
It could be that it's some new configuration that hasn't been seen before and is currently "unknown", since it likely is completely standards non-compliant
the quirk applied is Quirk: zhaquirks.xiaomi.aqara.opple_remote.RemoteB686OPCN01V3
I suspect it is a hardware problem then
Does the log show anything when you click a button?
If not, have you tried re-joining it to your network
yes
Changed the battery?
yes
I got other opple switches (but 4 buttons, the problem one has 6) and they all give out a short blue blink when you press a button
that's why I suspect it is a hardware problem, but I also know it is not always the case the 6 button opple has worked when the 4 button ones do
Hi everybody! Thought I ask here before opening a separate issue on github: Anybody know how to identify the process/integration sending ZigBee commands? I have a dimmer connected via zha, and works "perfectly" by sending manual zigbee commands, but when adjusting the light via light-controller in dashboard it always goes to full brightness directly after adjusting.. I can for sure see the command being sent, but not sure if it is HA or anything else doing it wrong. Another dimmer of a different brand works perfectly.
if you use app daemon, just create a listen.event call
...for zha events
Not completely sure what you mean, but i'll google it ๐ I might come back to you! Thanks ๐
there is a way to listen for events in HA too, have you tried that?
nope ๐
developer tools -> event
if you use zha, write zha_event and press listen
@austere patio I don't know if I managed to paste the log before, I'm trying again https://justpaste.it/8f65r
Looks fine to me. And nothing shows up in the home-assistant.log file after you've enabled debug logging for ZHA/zigpy/zigpy radio libraries and press a button on the remote?
no
is there no problem with the bound 'on_off' cluster: Status.TABLE_FULL statements?
Hmm
I can see from the last seen statement in the integration that after the pairing it is never seen again
That's something your device sends back in response to the bind request
ZHA is working without fault for my other devices so it's not a general porblem (if at all, might just be hw problems)
I'm guessing you don't use these kind of switches?
I don't have this specific hardware, no
I'm missing some good zigbee switches. I don't know why it's so hard to find. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears
Define good? Embrighten is pretty good.
Factory reset the switch and pair it again and while it's pairing keep it awake by pressing button on the switch every 1.5s,
I just had my server randomly go down. After rebooting a bunch of my zig bee devices are unavailable. Do I have to add devices or is there a way to search for missing devices?
hey there,
Can I ask for some help with HA setup?
I want to add a okay zzh! CC2652R stick
just ask the question ๐
And remember to say whether you're using ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT
I am typing typing just a sec.
I created a sort gif about the issue, but I cant upload it... So I have to type it.

Well we will see. I think the picture is describe my issue easier.
I am on the second screen of HA setup where I can add devices.
And I am not ssure what to add.
I have zzh! CC2652R stick
Have you flashed it with firmware?
So you need to figure out which port to use?
So, ZHA then
And the answer is... it's not AMA
Of course, if you're using HAOS then the Supervisor tells you what hardware is connected
I did not, thank you for reminding ๐
Oh, right, then you've just got a blinking light there ๐
quickstart guide: https://electrolama.com/radio-docs/
I ask this thread eariler, and you guys recommended to choose z2m instead of ZHA.
Thank you for reminding to that also ๐
Both work fine with the zzh so it's up to you
probably I will use more devices. Mostly shellys, and some homebrew esp32. Thats why I choosed to have an mqtt server.
That doesn't mean that ZHA isn't an option for Zigbee ๐
Hmmm, I what are the differences between the two?
See the pinned messages
I will check, thanks
@silver stump When using Discord's new Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
Does anyone know how I can fix my npm time
my zigbee2mqtt integration is using the wrong time
so home assistant isn't doing my routines well since theres a sunset restriction on it
Thanks for the tip - zha_event gave nothing, but turning on logger did! Debuging and my fair share of troubleshooting have come up with a plausable reason:
homeassistant.core orders a new brightness
homeassistant.components.zha.core.channels.base executes "move_to_level_with_on_off" command correctly, but afterwards it also executes an "on" command. My dimmer triggers this by going to max brightness. My second dimmer does not. Is this concidered a logical flaw in ZHA, or an vendor specific kind of bug?

okay, installed zha, and I had a ikea tradfi simple switch laying around.
I want to add to HA, but it stuck at
Device Found
Starting Interview
any idea?
If it's battery powered try clicking buttons to keep it awake
The mains powered ikea stuff should add without issues
it happend.
eventually I managed to add.
Can I check somewhere if it's working?
Some kind of eventlog
?
I just added one of those ikea simple switches too, and I realised that even though I was several meters from an ikea tradfri transformer it paired with it (instead of the zha router as I would have hoped) and by doing that disconnected that transformer from ZHA. Is there a way to prevent the transformer from acting that way. I live in an apartment building. I don't like the idea that a neighbour could 'steal' the zha pairing by mistake from the other side of the wall.
hi all. trying to check my ZHA settings, i remember there was a section on the configure home assistant screen, now when i go to configure in the integration it says "In the future you can change network settings for ZHA here.", any idea where that was moved to ?
(I do see "Missing the ZHA config panel? It was moved to the ZHA entry on the integrations page ." but again when i go there, it says in the future... 8-))
What settings are you thinking of? Zha is now under integrations and once on the page you can mange groups and see the map visualization. There is a brand new PR to bring more config options to that page but those have never been there in the past
@molten linden I believe my port (ttyacm0) was changed, and i want to verify its set to the correct one, as my ZHA integration stopped working
I donโt remember that being a setting in the II. Non the less to change it/see it you can edit (back it up first) core.config_entries in the .storage folder
@molten linden Thanks, it actually goes to the right adapter, simply integration stopped working, any ideas regarding where i can find the logs ?
Check the zha docs integration docs there is a section there that describes the how to turn up the logging
It will all be in your main home assistant log
Continuing on my ZHA issues, Devices appears, seems like "Last Seen" is a bit laggy (30 minutes delay), no rssi or lqi appear for devices, Logs shows many
"2021-03-28 22:25:04 ERROR (MainThread) [homeassistant.components.zha.core.channels.base] [0xE357:1:0x0202]: Could not set speed: [0xe357:1:0x0202]: Message send failure" (addresses changes)
while no change was really made to the system beside an upgrade to core 2021.3.2 2 days ago
any ideas?
So I'm wanting to get my first zigbee device and was wondering where I should start. I know I need a controller and software for it but how do I choose between Conbee and raspbee or ZHA and deCONZ?
What adapter are you using?
@austere patio ConBee II
And what HA version did you upgrade from?
2021.3.1 to 2021.3.2
i went over several posts in the forums, from different versions of people having the same issue, looks like the conclusion was to remove and add from scratch, but this will be painful with all the devices and integration i have
Nothing changed between those two versions
Related to zigbee, I mean (https://github.com/home-assistant/core/compare/2021.3.1...2021.3.2)
In fact the diff is quite tiny
Yes, I checked that as well as much as possible, didnt saw anything special in the release notes..., Visualization still works
i see the devices... but all devices are unavailble in the gui
Have you restarted HA before upgrading from 2021.3.1?
nope
That seems to be the only "change"
will try to re-pair one of the devices
errors as well
well now, even the conbee II coordinator is set to "off" on the gui
Have you enabled https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#debug-logging ?
yes
Can you upload your log somewhere or PM it to me after redacting personal info (if you care)? If you can't even join new devices, something else may be broken.
i see in the logs many message send failures
Do any Zigbee devices work at all?
it looks like ha does "talk" to the conbee
is there a way to check it ? (it does appear in the hardware list)
(If you're talking about the ZHA network visualization map, then that might be unrelated. For me, it has always been 'offline' and my network works.)
Does the ZHA uses MQTT?
No
well will go on removing and adding it... 8-( hopefully it will solve the problem
Some people have no issues with Conbees. Others have tons, even after a simple reboot. There seems to be no middle ground.
Was working for over a year with no issues..., Well you never know
So absolutely nothing works? Are you running HA core or an installation of HA OS?
I Believe i run the Core, The one comes all setup
That would be the OS
so the OS 8-)
HA core is just the Python package
Probably the ConBee decided to retire, doesnt work even after remove/adding... which one is the best recommended usb zha ?
Sticks/coordinators with Silicon Labs and Texas Instruments (preferably not the CC2530/CC2531) chips work well
But I don't think I've heard of a Conbee completely breaking like this
Is there a way in Ha OS to check it ?
after removing/adding, and even changing usb port, it remains the same, the usb is recognized, no lqi/rssi appears.
it import back all the devices paired with the stick, but nada, you cant do with them nothing
I don't believe the OS can tell you anything other than the device being plugged in and a serial port popping up. If ZHA starts up, communication with the stick works, just for whatever reason you cannot communicate with devices on the network
appears as unavaille, will try to re-pair one of them again now
Does your network have no routers? Only sensors?
it have routers too (jasco on/off switches)
Conbee issues aren't something I know too much about once you exhaust the usual Zigbee coordinator config problems so I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions here
Thanks for the help, i think its a bad stick, tried to delete/paur and iu get a zdo_leave_req failed
Totally unrelated to my Hue issues but bellows is "now" sending multicast messages without waiting for success (https://github.com/zigpy/bellows/commit/94e2d0a8257cb08550f27b9640b1676cf3559a8a) which seems to improve the delay when turning a ZHA group on and changing the color (https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/47714#issuecomment-798790600).
Could something like that be also implemented in zigpy-znp?
Any reviews on the zzh CC2652R Multiprotocol RF Stick by tindie? Is it the best I can get?
Works well, if you're in the UK it's a no-brainer IMO
Why so?
Well, it's local, and you can't really buy anything better ๐
If you were in the US, the import costs would make Tube's a better choice
Ahh okay, I'm in Malta actually. So anything in Europe or brexit Kingdom would do ๐
Slaesh's stick is also worth looking at, but be aware of the extensively documented communication and shipping issues
(it should turn up, eventually, you just don't know when)
Always very helpful. Thanks sir ๐
It lives in a superposition until it arrives and can be observed
Hello good people! Trying to reach out again today -
Short story: Dimmer not working correctly,
homeassistant.core orders a new brightness
homeassistant.components.zha.core.channels.base executes "move_to_level_with_on_off" command correctly, but afterwards it also executes an "on" command. My ELKO-dimmer triggers this by going to max brightness. My NAMRON-dimmer does not. Is this concidered a logical flaw in ZHA, or an vendor specific kind of bug? Could it be solved by a so called quirk?
Thread and zigbee will not run simultaneously. But yes if there is azigbee sub ghz picks up you could run there theoretically
It will be when manf realises its importance. The ipv6 for thread is too exciting to ve ignored since you are working on the tcp layer now
Yeah but the problem is is the compatibility, should've made it backwards compatible with ZigBee
@tropic depot There is something wrong when you try to pair certain devices with the latest ZHA version. When I tried to pair an opple 6 button, it reported as paired but then it was dead for the world. Even the short blue blinks that accompany presses normally was deactivated. I could not access attribute or commands in the integration page. I did the following to resolve the issue for me but the bug is still there.
1 I reinstalled deconz (while having zha deactivated) and paired it there, then the blue blinks came back, it controlled all the lamps in the network then
2 I deactivated deconc and reactivated zha, I could now get zha events, but there were of the controll all events variety. I could not access the attributes in the integration page
3 I I paired it again with zha, now I get the normal zha events again
I wasn't able to pair a philips hue lamp either, that stopped during negotiation. That was also resolved by spinning up deconz once.
Zigbee is kind of confusing to me, I would file a bug report but I know if this is due to the zigbee hardware (deconz) or something wrong with the zha device handlers.
What I find the most strange is that ZHA deactivated the blue blinks during the pairing attempt. Could it have disabled the device by mistake?
Maybe project chip will be an thread alternative
@stone halo
I know
It's bad
I hate it because it only supports planned obsolesce
I'm kinda glad Philips said to keep using zigbee
hi. some motion sensor for zigbee mqtt which looks a bit more ok than aqara?
what is more ok?
something rounded ..without that "leg"
https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Lidl_HG06335.html - but is not on lidl and who knows if/when they come back
The Konke ones are more compact
thats not rounded at all
oh..nice..looks like a bulb
Important #
Konke devices only work on Zigbee channel 15, 20 and 25.
hm
Yeah, it's a problem if you're on another channel
DIY WiFi mains powered might be an option too, then you can have whatever design you want
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_A5Nw0c no idea what it works with
https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_AD1LQM zigbee 3.0 one
z3.0 should mean it works with ZHA
for z2m depends on the zigbeemodel and manufacturerid
Adding support for new devices is well documented
Lately my home assistant log is getting tons of errors from ZHA; Error calling listener: Data is too short to contain 4 bytes. Before I go through the hassle of enabling debug logging and interpreting a huge log file, does anyone have any immediate familiarity with that message?
Pretty much just looking to know what I'm looking for in the log
The zigbee specs talks about an attribute called DisableLocalConfig. It says "Bit 0 of the DisableLocalConfig attribute disables any factory reset button (or equivalent) on the device. Bit 1
disables any device configuration button(s) (or equivalent)โfor example, a bind button". My question is, does this disable the quick pairing functionality also (the one where you are near the device and hold the pairing button)?
Howdy ๐
Folks, what's the best way to determine if a set of zigbee products can extend the network of another set of zigbee products?
Well, it's (mostly) a question of is it a router
is there no vendor specific limitations to worry about?
And most mains powered devices will - but there's exceptions (some bulbs, some two wire switches)
Not generally, but with Xiaomi ... see the pinned messages
e.g. would a Tuya smart plug (router) extend to a Philips HUE sensor?
Hypothetically if I deleted init.py on my zhaquirks folder how could I recover it? Can I just copy the file from github?
Oh nice, lots of wisdom in those, thanks
On the same mesh, yes
yes pull it from github
though make sure the same version/release
@molten linden how to do I confirm that?
you can see what version is installed on the site-packages folder /usr/local/lib/python3.8/site-packages
@molten linden ty. Always such a huge help
Looks like 0.0.54
For the zha quirks
@molten linden it worked like a charm. Ty!
Hey together. I have a question relating a supervised HA-installation.
In the third attempt i got my Deconz-Gateway running. So my GW-IP is 172.30.33.3.
But in the Integrations i cant (also manually) connect to it. And only an old Deconz-GW on an old Pi is found in my Network.
Any suggestions?
I can ping 172.30.33.3. Also i can ping the failed .1 and .2? But why? There is only one container with deconz running.
The 172.30.33.x range will be for other containers in your install
Okay. Do they randomly change on every reboot? That would be bad.
I doubt it, but I don't use Supervised
Things should be using the container name, since Docker handles that for you
Okay. Got it.
The integration should auto-detect, if it doesn't and you're running #330944238910963714 then likely you've got a broken install
If you're running #330990055533576204 that's a different situation
I am running it supervised.
After many system reboots it now automatically finds the gateway under its docker-ip, but when connecting "unkown error occured".
But, #330944238910963714 and #330990055533576204 both are "Supervised"
One has HAOS, and one doesn't. One is for experts in Docker, Linux, and Networking... the other is for sane people ๐
I am not using the OS.
In log it says "pydeconz.errors.pydeconzException: / link button not pressed"
But its pressed ๐ฆ
Well, if you're not using the OS, troubleshooting networking issues should be familiar to you ๐
I'll let somebody who knows deCONZ help you from here though
The network-problem is solved with many reboots ๐
"Solved"
I solved the Zigbee/Deconz-Problem
There was an old entry in the core.config_entries-File.
And also my existing and not used Deconz-Installation on an old pi disturbed my configuration.
After removing the entry and setting the pi offline it worked instant with adding the integration.
Hey team! Is there any easy way to determine channel support for end devices? I am working through my 2.4gHz channel plan.
Thanks!
The pinned messages have links to Blakaddr's lists, and the Zigbee2MQTT devices list - they list any known limitations
Hi, I have still an zha problem with my Philips hue and Innr light bulbs. Everytime when i turn off the lights, they will turn on immediately back on. I have checked my light automation in Node Red. And they should working, I think it is an zigbee issue but I cannot find the issue. Can anyone help me with this problem?
I would start by disabling your automations or otherwise reading through logs to figure out what is turning the lights on and off. There is an "on with timed off" command but no "off with timed on" so your Zigbee lights need to be explicitly turned on by something.
Is it possible to change zigbee hardware and still be up and running with a zha installation, i.e. without the need to pair everything again?
yes
you can migrate from TI -> TI w/ zstack
and you can backup and restore ember (SI) based sticks
I think Walt actually went from SI -> TI
with deconz you are SOL AFAIK
You can (in theory) go from deCONZ to TI and SI sticks if you can fill out enough of the network parameters in their respective backup formats
^ the expert ^
And put some big enough value for the frame counter
Dunno if anyone has ever tried it though
Something about starting off with a 50 year old zigbee network that will die an early frame counter death bothers me ๐
That is what I gonna do, I disable all my light automations and setting it up from scratch. I hope that will fix my problem.
Looking though daily sniffs, I see a few rejoin responses denied with "PAN Full" message
eew "pan full"
Are there any options for mqtt on an old Conbee I stick? zigbee2mqtt doesn't support it for what it looks like
it does work, it's just "experimental" and a little confusing on how to enable it
That's for Conbee II, you mean it works for the first stick too?
there are two mentions of 'deconz' on the configuration page. just set both of those: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/configuration.html
yep, i recently tested with an original raspbee. pretty sure the serial protocol is the same for all the deconz devices
Alright, I'll give it a shot then ๐ Thanks
I can't find the GitHub comment from one of the deCONZ devs but they said that the "old" and the new sticks are functionally identical
hey there,
I had some update (if anyone intrested about yet an other guy strugling with his ha ๐ )
So I manage to add that zigbee ikea button to ha. The trick was to push the small reset button times, then wait, and time to time push any of the front buttons so it didnt go to sleep.
So my next issue. I want to create in node red a simple action, but in the Entry id the button event are not listed.
i am using zha
what am I missing?
#node-red-archived would be the place to ask for help with Node Red
Thanks for the help, it works ๐
you right, sorry
I should be able to pair all zigbee devices at the same time by flipping the main powerbreaker for the house in the right pattern, no? ๐ค

I have a ups for the zigbee gateway... ๐
On the up side, you may be replacing a lot of your electronics
Hey folks, has anyone used the Tube's zigbee coordinator?
I am having trouble with the setup of the USB coordinator. I Don't see how to set it up. It says to connect to the router via ethernet, but this definitely does not have ethernet. Is it safe to assume to hook it to my host machine and do it that way somehow?
Yeah, that's just a USB connection
Hi all ๐
Hey all, been trying to read up on zigbee and zwave, to wrap my head around all this. Wanted to ask you to correct what I've gathered so far.
-- Zigbee/Z-wave are mesh networks. So, having lots of devices is better.
-- The hub(s) should be in somewhat central locations.
Any other fundamentals that I'm missing ?
- having a good number of router devices
- not really if you have a good mesh network
- Better if it's more central, but not critical
There is a pinned message about the Zigbee mesh FYI
Yes, I've been reviewing the pinned messages. It's a lot....
Ok, let me ask this: I have an Aqara G2H camera that's supposed to be a Zigbee hub. The Aqara home app only seems to allow the G2H camera to pair other Aqara devices. Is there a way to make this a 'generic' hub ?
no
Bummer
atleast not at this time
I went all in on HomeKit. These HomeKit devices are annoying now that I have HA.
Somebody would need to hack it, so it could be re-flashed with alternative firmware, and it would need to use a chip that's already supported
thanks
This isn't impossible... it's been done with other devices, but ...
i might or might not disassemble one soon to see what's up ๐
@obsidian kettle When using Discord's new Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
Is that Tinkerer's way of saying "stop mentioning me" ? ๐
I get it. I hate it when my wife texts me several thing in a row. As if every sentence gets it's own message!
Reply is fine, but leaving @ON gets annoying
It's a stupid default on part of Discord
I know this is the Zigbee channel, but is there something that would suggest Z-Wave is better for some situations? Or, are they jsut two competing standards trying to accomplish the same thing (like Google Assistant vs. Alexa) ?
Z-Wave uses a different frequency band, that generally is better for going through obstacles, gives you better range, and is less susceptible to interference (from WiFi, Bluetooth, and microwave ovens)
It also costs a lot more
Hence, Zigbee's popularity! Fair enough.
Geez. So many adapter options that may not cover all devices. Too bad I canโt use WiFi for all device types.
The adapter doesn't matter (much)
