I just watched the Z2M logs and kept pushing the button until it started pairing
And then kept pushing it to keep it awake until interviewing completed ๐
You get the same result in a more human friendly manner with the UI now
@sour shadow when I press scan on zigbee2mqtt after 5 seconds it turns off and write finished touchlink scan, is it normal?
Why are you trying to do Touchlink?
Where in https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/WSDCGQ12LM.html#pairing does it say Touchlink @plucky garden ?
@sour shadow I thought it was like this, I've never done a stitch before
That's why there's docs
my bad
I tried and nothing will connect @sour shadow
@plucky garden Discord isn't like IRC, you don't have to tag people on every response. Keep in mind that every time you tag somebody, they get a notification ping. That can very quickly become annoying and people may block you.
When using Discord's new Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
Well, start by making sure it's near the coordinator or a router (mains powered device connected to the mesh)
yes i tried anyway and nothing @sour shadow
Stop tagging me
sorry
Jesus that's a lot of @'s

Hmm I'm having some zigbee issues
specifically with a Zigbee 3.0 relay box and zigbee2mqtt
it keeps failing the interview (blinking the light in the process)
Relay box?
@jolly narwhal yea sorry, seems to be fairly niche
it's fairly similar to a much more popular one by nordtronic
I've opened an issue on zigbee2mqtt, because it fails to interview (It's my understanding that should still work even if it's not in devices.js)
Relax boy.
This morning zigbee2mqtt stopped working, I am trying to diagnose why but it seems the serial interface is been passed through: unlink("/dev/ttyZ2M"): Read-only file system Is the error I'm getting
Even trying the socat command directly in the docker I get: socat[2731] E unlink("/dev/ttyZ2M"): Read-only file system
reboot?
Tried that, and unplugged the USB, restored old snapshot and installed zigbee2mqtt-edge
nothing working so far
Its a socat docker mapping over serial but it can't seem to create the file in /dev as it reports as a read only filesystem
whats werid was this never happened before today
I'm really stuck not sure what to do :/
I see this in top {socat.sh} /bin/bash /app/socat.sh /data/options.json fork
It seems it can no longer create /dev/ttyZ2M
I wonder if this is an issue with the addon?
Is it possible to have a zigbee switch be registered in the light domain?
I'm using zigbee2mqtt
basically I want switch.kitchen_counter to be light.kitchen_counter
using the zha integration, trying to change controllers from a ConBee2 to a HUSBZB-1 stick and HA appears to be getting confused and includes a "unk_model" device with the IEEE of the ConBee2
anyone seen this before? I'm able to add/control other devices just fine
oooh, nice! ๐
@tired cedar ah, yes it should work, and adding it to z2m should be fairly straightforward by copying a similar device in the database, I've done it with two bulbs
how to pair QS-Zigbee-D02-TRIAC-LN?
anyone using conbee2 with ikea tradfri? is it easy to add new devices to it? because with the original tradfri gateway I need a remote and it's pretty annoying experience.. and if conbee2 'just works' I might get rid of the ikea gw to consolidate my hardware..
I'm running many Ikea Trรฅdfri devices on a conbee2. Works fine (mostly).
("many" = 42, ConBee 2 / ZHA / HA 2021.1.5 on a RaspBerry Pi 3B)
is the coordinator on an external device? why do you need socat?
(Deconz/Zigbee) Anyone that uses aqara sensors? I have the temp/humid/pressure ones. the one in the freezer went offline.. so i thought it was broken but as soon as i pressed the button it was online again. Now the frige one went offline. Same thing, i pressed it and bam.. online again. Is this a known issue? Do they go offline if they can't reach the server a while or some other reason?
The Aqara stuff isn't good at finding a new router if it has a bad connection. You should make a stronger network.
Yeah i was wondering that, i did move the pi to my desk temporarily, A little closer actually but maybe for the signals a little harder to reach
I've got a number of Aqara sensors and they seem to work fine. Don't run them in my freezers though. What I do have problems with is the Ikea lights/outlets (acting as routers) that sometimes goes offline (I'm guessing due the known low-level zigbee firmware bug that leaks memory). Which can cause the sensors that routes via them to have problems. A physical power off/on wakes them up again though. It almost never happened when I had few devices, but when I got over 30 or so it started happening more often. Eagerly awaiting firmware updates... ๐
@balmy ginkgo Try pairing them at the location you are planning to place them, should help them in choosing the correct router from the start
Oh they can be updated huh, nice.
Don't believe the aqara sensors can be updated
i only have 1 router though, but it is in the pi not extention cabled. So that would be my 1st step if it occurs again
All the ikea tradfri stuff can
Always a good idea to use an usb extention cable, can to great things for your range & stability
If that still didn't add enough range for the sensors, try adding a router. Something like an ikea smart plug/signal repeater should work great
there is no reset button on 2 gang dimmer, how to reset it?
its not dimmer, its module sory
how can i measure the link quality of my cc2538 in my house? it's small, but there are doors and walls
Your choice of Zigbee integration should be telling you
that will be mqtt
Zigbee2MQTT creates sensors that include the LQI
so...i will walk with a sensor in the house
Well, that'd be the only way to map it, but the sensor probably won't change routes, so it won't give you the best results
Remember Zigbee is a mesh network. The more nodes you have, the stronger the mesh gets.
i can put cc2531 as a repeater?
It's not about point-to-point signal strength like WiFi.
Yes, the CC2531 can be a router if you flash it with the correct firmware.
oh...flash....headaches ๐ฆ
But... you should probably use other devices as routers. Devices that do something else in addition to routing.
Smart outlets, smart switches, some smart bulbs.
When you have enough Zigbee devices, you'll end up with at least one router in each room and signal won't be an issue.
Buy another bulb. Repeater in every room ๐
ikea good for the zigbee?
i vowed never ever to set foot in their shop ever again. But i see they have them in online shop.
Do i need to flash them?
So all this TRร DFRI is just zigbee? Nice, reasonable prices too. Almost makes you forget Ali.
So you'd recommend those?
Is there a good way to move between USB Zigbee devices? Looking to switch from an existing Conbee II to a Electrolama zig-a-zig-ah! . I believe I need to start over, but wasn't sure if there's anything I need to reset on the HA side
wow, clicked some tradifarian stuff together man, 150 Euro :/
Guess i should just bite ye-olde bullet
I like tradfri 5 button remote, https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tradfri-remote-control-00443130/ , and the round remote https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/symfonisk-sound-remote-black-10433847/ epecially the teh symfonisk remote - the motion is so smooth and can be mapped to anything - I use for controling like TV volume, dimming lights, fan speed, etc
my goal is realy to do it all from HA. Except 1 kill switch button that turns off all lights when i go to bed. ANd in other areas i wanna have motion sensors turn on thelights and auto turn off after n-minutes when no motion is detected. But that switch looks cool ๐
And have my zigbee talk to HAtrough deconz (I did not know about ZHA untill i saw it in topic here) and HA <->nodered. I realy dig nodered
I have some cheap sonos zigbee switches. They realy are.. cheap. And it shows.
argh I need more tea this morning, meant Zigbere devices earlier, not Zwave ๐
The sad answer is, you need to re-pair everything
Are the ikea roll-up curtains also zigbee. <- Yes according to article.. woohoo
Manual not realy mentions it.
That's fine actually, do the existing devices need to be cleaned up manually too?
I moved from Homeseer after 20+ years to HA, so cleaning up of old devices/entities is still a struggle for me in situations like this
Probably, depends on whether the integration handles it for you or not
Thank you Tinkerer, guess I'll give it a shot and see what happens ๐
@analog ember and others is a 2.5Meter extention okay? It's the only USB<>USB cable i have ๐ฆ
connects it to itself and waits for the universe to explode
There is anyway to disable routers from a device in ZHA ? Because some devices are binding to some rooters, after this device router lost power, all my devices connected to that router goes unavaliable
=/
No, no integration can stop routers from routing unfortunately
is it normal that battery runs down fast in my aqara thermometer when its outside?
@lament loom maybe, temperature can be an trash
u mean trash
You can go to a specific router (Config > Integrations > ZHA > Devices > Specific router) and choose "Add devices via this device"
No guarantee that your device won't later change to a new parent router though ๐คทโโ๏ธ
dont work, ZHA will change it after a while
it will put the enddevice in the best "router" device
I can't controll it
it is not ZHA that changes or controls that. The devices do it by themselves. There is no way to control that
you need to keep the devices powered, or have a separate network for devices that loose power
You can pick which device they pair to, but they'll still pick their own routes over time
This is how all mesh networking works TBH
@verbal shale that is probably the equivalent of "Add devices via this device" in ZHA
Hello, I force deleted two devices, now I want to add them again but it is not possible to pair the devices again. Are those devices now in some kind of blacklist?
Can someone please tell me how to re-add a force deleted device?
@mighty river they are batery power? remove the battery for a few seconds
okay I will try
No, it does not work
Do I have to manually remove the devices from some config files?
@mighty river what integration? (check this channel's topic)
sorry, I'm using zigbee2mqtt
do all zigbee wallpowered devices increase my mesh network size ? have a cc2531 max 20 devices , but want to replace my wifi lights for zigbee ...
Not all, no. Most.
The CC2531 can have at most 20 children but if you have other routers, the routers themselves can hold 5 more devices (for example), increasing the maximum.
I have a network with about 45 devices on a CC2531 right now
so an innr zigbee bulb or sonoff mini inwall switch will increase network
230v devices are automatically routers ... ?
I think only a few exist that aren't
zigbee FTW
in ZHA, is there any difference between doing Group Binding trough the Device interface, or adding a device to a group trough the Groups UI?
Yes ๐
tell me more @amber gull ๐ค
๏ฟผ๏ฟผ at the protocol level that's a fundamental difference between binding and group membership๏ฟผ
Binding instructs the device to send cluster commands to the bound device or group
Group membership for devices will vary by implemention
So perhaps a remote may default to sending commands to its own group, but I don't believe that's defined as a protocol default or recommendation๏ฟผ
send and receive, right?
No. Out to in, typically. One way
for example, I binded the LightLink cluster of a Lightbulb to the group 0x0 (which is the one IKEA remotes send commands to), and it made the remove control the light
so the light is receiving commands from the bound group
๐ง
That is not the way ๐
But yes, that would work
Depending on stack implemention. You are using it in reverse of the designed intent imho
but, if it should only be for for device -> group, who's on the receiving end?
devices that are member of the group?
Yes.
it's really designed for a direct virtual connection between a device and another device or group. typically when a single device needs to send information directly to a number of other devices
So in your case it would probably be more efficient to just place the bulb in the group. splitting hairs though. but that is how the protocol is designed in my opinion.
In your use case you are storing the information in the binding table of the bulb
And that will be harder to manage ( much more so with ZHA ) Then the group membership
there might be edge cases though where it could buy you something
Binding lets you essentially filter by endpoint and cluster
I was just testing it out and wanting to understand the difference between group binding and group membership. I don't really need it atm
Group membership equals broadcast frame is received am I a member of this group?๏ฟผ
sรณ, the ideia is: receivers would be members of the group, and senders would be bound to the group?
Yes
They work the same way, just dst device is nwk of the single device. Dstadrrmode may be unicast
in our home automation use cases, the main benefit here is the coordinator and automation engine don't need to be online
Binding and even group membership you are also at mercy of the implementation
Aqara wired switches for example, don't include out clusters to allow direct binding other lights ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
I was also now trying to bind an Ikea remote to a bulb, but it doesn't seem to work
I haven't checked the logs though
maybe they can only bind to a single thing? And since it is already bound to group 0x0, they won't bind to bulb?
That is true for some. I'd have to go look on IKEA. definitely true on the Phillips hue remotes
IKEA is also a bit screwy as they are all ZLL groups under the hood
yeah. but since I was testing it with an ikea bulb, it should be fine
Hi guys, first time here for me. Something weird occured yesterday. Two of my motion sensors (Xiaomi Aqara) just stopped working in the same hour (at least, last message received was half an hour apart). They still said to have resp. 91 and 97 percent battery and 55 and 105 linkquality. I didn't buy or install them at the same time. Also wasn't working on HA at that moment.. I have other Zigbee devices, working just fine (they are not motion sensors, but door sensors..) I'm using Zigbee2MQTT. Someone that has any clue what might have happend, or where I could search next? It really puzzles me
One of the motion sensors was already in use for about 2 years, the other one for about 1.5 yrs.
Ah thanks, maybe it's just a glitch with Aqara then. Still, two at the same time losing connection, one is really close to my antenna, the other is a about 5 meters away.
It doesn't matter. If they were both using that router and that router disappeared for a while, the Aqara ones might not recover.
Other things are better at re-routing.
Is there a way to easily reconnect them? Or should I go through the pairing process again?
Just tap the button once and they'll try to reconnect. If that doesn't work, re-pair them.
@amber gull just tried binding with the IKEA remote to IKEA light while sniffing traffic.
It replies with "GREAT SUCCESS!" to the bind command, binding clusters On/Off and LevelCtrl. But then it still only sends the broadcast messages as usual. No direct messages to the bulb. Also, when I unbind the bulb, the remote replies with NoEntry. So I guess they don't support it
Did you try shaking it?
I know I have a few of the two buttons directly bound without issue -- which model are you using?
shaking? Lol pressing yes
its the two button one
are you sure they are binding directly to bulb? or to group?
To a group, I believe
"and cannot be bound to a device" ok...
Sorry asking again but maybe now there is someone who knows how to re-add a device with zigbee2mqtt. The devices were force deleted by me. If I want to pair nothing happens. Removing the battery doesn't help. I force deleted three devices and all have the same problem.
Check the Z2M log file to see what's going on
Note that a force remove will only remove the device from the database. Until this device is factory reset, it will still hold the network encryption key and thus is still able to communicate over the network!
So, factory reset it ๐
How can I factory reset? Its an OSRAM smart plug, Aqara Window sensor and an Aqara movement sensor?
I would google each device. Sometimes the pairing instructions on the zigbee2mqtt supported devices page will be enough
okay thanks
I think z2m docs have instructions for all those devices you mention @mighty river
Hey folks, My Zigbee2mqtt stopped being able to connect to the mqtt server all of a sudden (I think with one of the latest kernel updates to HA). I can't seem to figure out where I am going wrong on here. I am using HA supervised on Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS. It was working... then about a week ago it stopped.
could your mosquitto have suddenly jumped to version 2. something?
Your time has come!
Hey mono!
๐
Not sure how things work in supervised though ๐ฎ
There must be a version number somewhere?
Addons? ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
let me look
In any case, for me I ended up moving back to the last version of 1.6
2.xx took out both my z2m and zwjs2m
hey guys. thinking about locks, looking at this kwikset one. anyone know if ZHA can be made to work with it? https://www.amazon.com/Kwikset-Obsidian-Touchscreen-Electronic-Deadbolt/dp/B079TY5HDB
@rotund wave also your installation method is unsupported, unless you are expecting breakage and you are a Linux and docker expert, you should migrate to a supported installation method
or to ask another way: what's the status of ZHA locks? Can you set key codes and such?
If you pulled a mosquitto docker image roughly 4 days ago then you are probably in the same boat as me
I might have to, even though I am a solid hand at linux/docker, its just more work than I really want to do. If the rpi3 install was reliable I'd have stuck with that. I kept having to reboot every other day.
Yeah you're probably right. I need to figure out how to roll back here.
I need to figure out how to downgrade that, there's no mosquitto container, just zigbee2mqtt
might be my problem
Well, that might be a different can of worms, then
Moving to container install. Any good setup docs for getting zigbee running on mac/docker?
Do aqara motion & contact sensors have a tempature sensor?!
no, only the aqara environment sensor can provide temperature readings
I recall the aqara motion reporting some temperature thing. but it was not real ambient temp
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/RTCGQ01LM.html
this one does not
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/RTCGQ12LM.html
this one does not as well
but this one has a temp field:
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/RTCGQ11LM.html
It's the temperature of the chip. Practically useless unless you just want to know if it's "hot" or "cold".
Does anyone know how to get the device id for my cc2531 in os x?
What do you mean by the "device ID"?
/dev/ttyACM0 doesn't work.
Look at /dev/cu.usbmodem*
That's it
ERROR: for zigbee2mqtt Cannot start service zigbee2mqtt: error gathering device information while adding custom device "/dev/cu.usbmodem14101": no such file or directory
I kept getting this which is why I thougt it was busted
What are you trying to do?
container for zigbee2mqtt
container_name: zigbee2mqtt
image: koenkk/zigbee2mqtt:latest
volumes:
- ./data:/app/data
- /run/udev:/run/udev:ro
devices:
- /dev/cu.usbmodem14101:/dev/ttyACM0
restart: always
network_mode: host
privileged: true
environment:
- TZ=America/Chicago```
oh yes, very well
It's not that hard to run non-containerized (and virtualized? in this case)
You mean zigbee2mqtt or HA?
Z2M runs fine. HA has some Linux-centric stuff but for the most part also runs fine, dunno about all the components though
ZHA at least does
Like serial port autodetection in ZHA relies on /dev/serial/by-id/ existing, so it'll instead just show you a dropdown of serial ports instead of finding the correct one
so, it runs, but I can't share the usb dongle to control things?
It can natively on macOS, if that's what you're asking
I guess I am a bit confused as to why there's a docker version if you can't run a usb device
you can pass usb down to a container on anything but mac os pretty much
I think the limitation is only present in Docker Desktop, which runs a VM
you can even dump docker desktop and install the old docker machine subsystem and get it back
Yeah, that I think used VirtualBox, which definitely supports USB passthrough
yep
is that supported by docker?
trying to find an install that doesn't require docker desktop
uuuuuugh.
why we gotta make things complicated?
You could run this all in a Linux VM and run docker inside that VM?
I'm going to see if I can just install docker CE on here using homebrew
Or dump all this container nonsense and run HA and Z2M on bare macOS for maximum instability
hahaha
you had me til the last word, I thought you were insane
ok scrapping docker desktop
hey guys. After an auto supervisor upgrade (2021.02.5) , zha is not working properly anymore. It' was working halfway and after a couple of attempt and restart, most of the devices are still unresponsive. If I try to repair a bulb for example, seems successful but extremely slow and unable to control the bulb after this.
this is the zipy error that I see : https://pastebin.com/iiVGSuw7
I don't think this is related to zigpy as almost all my integrations are impacted. See timeouts for almost all of them
If SYS.Version.Req() fails then your radio hardware didn't respond to the first request
Though it did send a startup indication
Is your database huge or SD card failing?
have an ssd
this starts to happen just after this supervisor upgrade.
and if you are talking about home-assistant_v2.db
I did move it to test
same issue
I'd enable debug logging for HA in that case. If everything is unresponsive then something might be affecting the event loop.
timing is not the best, did order a tiny lenovo to host properly ha container and get rid of hassos to avoid exactly this type of situation
beside that I get a lot of integrations that are timing out or in error, no obvious error messages there. Will turn again the debug for HA
thanks puddy, will open an incident for the supervisor with all the logs. From forum and chat, see a couple of people in the exact same situation and no way to force a previous supervisor version, that's bad.
OK so you can't NOT install docker desktop. wtf is this. Is there another dongle or something that works via... wifi or.. magic?
If you're using Z2M then you can only ask @molten linden if he has any more pre-production ethernet ones left
Can you not run a normal Linux environment within Virtualbox or something and then do all this docker stuff the normal way?
I have a Conbee II plugged directly into the back of my raspberry pi running HA OS. I am struggling to get connectivity to all of my zigbee devices (mainly aqara battery powered motion sensors and door sensors) and would like some advice.
- Do the aqara battery powered sensors extend the zigbee mesh or do I need a more powerful repeater?
- Is a USB extension cable recommended to get my Conbee II into a clear spot? If so, are there limitations on how long it can be? I have one that is 2 metres long.
I am in a medium sized single level apartment and the devices are spread out across the apartment.
- No and yes
- Yes, No, try it.
Just looking into getting a few Ikea TRร DFRI devices which I think will work as repeaters
Yes, that's probably a good idea... yes, those will function as repeaters if they are mains powered
hi i am trying to set up an automation using the naitive zigbee intergration (not zigbee2mqtt) and triggering on event fires. what is the best way to tell my devices appart? there are 3 apparently unique ids in each event data but what is the best one to use? device_ieee, unique_id or device_id?
Well... device_ieee will never change, even if you remove and re-pair that device
In theory device_id shouldn't either, but I've never tested
ok thanks
I might ask here as it might be more relevant:
I am trying to understand why the zigbee2mqtt addon is failing to create a socat device under /dev/ in the container. I would love some guidance, as I have been working on this for two days. Essentially the file system appears to be read only yet the socat device used to be created without issue.
This is the error 2021/02/10 20:56:16 socat[503644] E unlink("/dev/ttyZ2M"): Read-only file system
I have no lights at the moment and its getting dark ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐น๐จ๐ญ Zigbee network has been down for 3 days.
Is the usb pass through going to be not an issue with non-Mac docker?
Docker in Linux is fine, Docker Desktop isn't
hmmm.... looking at the socat logs I get: socat_signal(): finishing signal 15
why do you need socat?
@golden vessel USB passthrough issues resulting in Kernel Panics, also I was using this solution for the last 6 monthes without issue
I made an issue: https://github.com/zigbee2mqtt/hassio-zigbee2mqtt/issues/22
if you have kernel panics from usb passthrough, probably you have usb issues in your machine...
and that is probably related to your new issues using socat
I don't think it is related, I tried socat on a raspberry pi as well, the issue seems to be in the addon. I believe the addon has been reconfigured to make /dev read-only preventing the instantiation of the serial device.
create the socat device in /tmp instead. it should be writeable
Good morning! I am seeing conflicting reports on using ZHA_Map custom integration, with some mentions of it being implemented directly in HASS in version 1.0? I am on the latest version (2021.2.2) and don't see it mentioned anywhere?
Nevermind, I'm just dumb, it's in the configuration area for the integration.
Ok. Iโll wipe my supervised install and do it there. Iโm traveling for a week so Iโll have to hit it when I get back thanks @sour shadow
@golden vessel Thanks that works, currently the default configuration uses /dev. I have amended the github issue, as it should be pointing to a writable location by default. (It seems /dev was made read-only in an update and this was overlooked or for some reason a configuration change occurred). Thanks for the advice, everything is working as expected now ๐
@golden vessel I make it a habit to contribute when people help me, which would you prefer I support:
Electronic Frontier Foundation, Transparency International or All Together Now?
Is ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT the preferred method for zigbee devices? My concern with ZHA is that if I shut down HASS or the server it's running on, stuff will stop working (though that is the case with my motion sensors already, I'm concerned about moving my Hue lights).
All Together Now? The TV Show? ๐ Anyway, I vote for the EFF ๐
If you use zigbee2mqtt, and shutdown HA, what will still be working? Would control be done trough HA, thus, nothing will work anyway? ๐
for ref: Anti racism charity (https://alltogethernow.org.au/) and I will, have a nice day.
Youโre correct, nothing would work anyways. Maybe Iโll just move the motion sensors and leave the lights on the hue hub. At least then the appโll still work.
is your HA instance down so much that it would be a problem? You could bind some IKEA or HUE remotes directly to the lights (or light groups in the case of IKEA), and that would allow you to use the remote even if HA is down
Really depends on the day and how much tinkering I'm doing on either HA or the server hardware it's running on, though I would say it's probably up 90-95% of the time.
I'll have to look into the remote idea. The hue remotes can't talk to groups of lights?
don't you have any kind of physical control over the lights? What if Hue server is unavailable or your internet goes down?
I don't know about hue remotes. I've only tested ikea ones, and with those you need to:
- create a zigbee group and add the light(s) to it
- bind the remote to the group
They cannot bind directly to a single device.
No, I just use the analog light switches (apartment life or I'd update them), and relied on the bridge and/or home assistant for the motion sensors. The hue app and homekit connect directly to the bridge so the remote server or internet being down has never been a problem.
I run everything detached from HA. So, if HA is down Node Red, mqtt and z2m keep communicating with each other and everything works
Ah, so what do you use HA for then? If everything is over MQTT, you don't really need HA?
Not really, it ties everything else together. Google tts, Alexa and
people trackers ect... and gives me a pretty interface.
Fair enough
I feel like the single point of failure is just moving from HA to the MQTT broker at that point, unless you can somehow set it up with high-availability or failover?
What if node red is down?
We cover this point in software architecture 101 @golden vessel
This is home automation - the odds of somebody having a fully redundant setup, when the underlying protocols don't support it, are close to zero ๐
Doesn't mean folks can't do what Walt has done and made it robust though
Hi just started using HA, and trying to get some lidl zigbee stuff connected. Got the lights working with deconz and the Phoscon app. But can not get the remote (https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Lidl_HG06323.html ) to show. Does anyone know how to connect it?
You really can't let that go, huh? It's been what... months?
๐
it still hurts! ๐ฆ
Yes?
Loss of power for longer periods of time can make some devices lose its connection completly so you might have to repair if zha route (aqara)... I used hue essentials with deconz before and was able to do many of the basic automations through the rest api so that if ha was down then the basic function would still work as it was not using HA.... that's why hue works well for people, you set it and forget it where HA you are going to mess around as you learn
Question, I dont know much about zigbee, but I do know you have to register a device to a hub when it is installed (SmartThings, etc). I finally got Raspbee and deconz working, but it doesnt ever see anything. To get all my lights and switches into HA without going through SmartThings, will I have to remove the light from SmartThings (via the remove tool) before it can be added or seen with deconz? I currently have Philips Hue and SmartThings hubs along with the newly installed Home Assistant. I also use Alexa a lot to control the SmartThings lights. Is it best in the long run to try and move everything possible over to HA and ditch the other hubs?
No
Supervisor, integration, + button then search for deconz
It should detect your conbee automatically
I have deconz installed and running, it does (after messing with boot config) see the raspbee. I see the "Controller" on the deconz webpage. I guess I need to dig a little more into it to see where I go from there. I was just expecting to see other devices seen.
Hmm, I have everything on a UPS so haven't really had a power outage that has lasted longer than a few hours, which hasn't caused any issues in the past.
@amber gull https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/l4zxah/zha_or_zigbee2mqtt_my_take_on_this_after_giving/ agree, very informative ๐
not to be too spammy, but just checking in, anyone who's around today happen to use zigbee locks with HA? Trying to get an idea of where things are at, beyond the varied forum posts
And, if it is in the same place it was before, who are the ZHA devs I'd need to talk to for understanding their workflow if I want to build new functionality for it?
I've seen the lock support in zigpy and ZHA, though I've never dug in or gone looking through it any detail @alpine cipher
I know the Wyze lock and the Yale locks, and I believe a few others (?) all work fine
The lock I bought isn't listed, but a similar one is, so might just need to poke at quirks if it doesn't work out of the box.
Setting user codes and alert events appear to be only supported by the underlying subsystem (zigpy) and not the front end, so i might work on adding frontend support there
That would be great
Long term plan is to expose many of the underlying zigpy functions/settings into the frontend
There are some recent architectures discussions on trying to unify some of the underlying APIs of the various integrations as well
And not directly lock related, but a lot of the IAS stuff still needs to be fully fleshed out in ZHA
IAS?
Intrusion Alarm System -- support for keypads, fire, smoke, tec
ah, yep
Anyone experience with Loratap 3-button Zigbee remote control?
I have the Slaesh's CC2652RB stick with Zigbee2MQTT. I have already many Zigbee devices connected so I know to enable the pairing feature and activated the pairing on the remote but nothing happens. Tried touchlink method but nothing detected. I checked the Zigbee2MQTT logs but no entries for any new device. Any idea how to solve this?
did you make an offering to the gods of Zig and Bee?
Lol, off course
that seems to help with my mesh
My knies are still painfull ๐
(I'm on ZHA because z2m kept doing weird things, so i don't have any useful ideas)
Haven't got weird things till some minutes ago... Hopefully someone can chase me in the right direction
Anyway, if for some reason z2m seems unstable, I can flash the USB stick and go for ZHA
Anyone else got any aqara wireless switches? Have you noticed that if you hold the dimmer for more than about 2-3 seconds it doesn't send a reset?
Opple. That's what they're called
I have Aqara window contact and it was paired within some seconds. Works great, almost no delay
In general these switches are awesome. But I'm having to manually simulate a button release event in order to stop dimming, and it's not ideal
Hi beauties ๐โโ๏ธ
I just got my first zigbee device (ConBee II) and wanted to add some IKEA buttons. https://zigbee.blakadder.com/Ikea_E1743.html
Here it says. Supports: Battery, brightness and click.
But when I add it in Zigbee Home Automation it seems to just give me battery status. Am I missing something?
Click is likely an event/device trigger
Yeah, just read something similar on the forum.
It may also be that ZHA doesn't support "brightness"
Ah found something.
Developer tools > Events > star listening for zha_events
neat
works
If you want something simpler, you could use a Device trigger. No need for manually specified events and addresses!
@golden vessel When I go to new automation, select the IKEA device, there is only battery level in the trigger dropdown
at least for the on/off and shortcut button. Let me try the THICC boi button device
I can't send screenshot here, but my Ikea on/off remote has a lot of options like turn on/off, dimm up/down, etc
And you use ZHA?
Please use imgur or other image sharing web sites, and share the link here.
I found some blueprint. Which makes it easier
@sour shadow thanks. But I'm on mobile and don't really want to install the app ๐
So use something else
On the Device page, does the device have a quirk?
I don't get the whole I can't use that one site so I must complain to you about it
Where did I complain? Lol
He said "thanks"
Well, yes, followed by too hard
Yeah
That's called "replying". Not complaining
@golden vessel From reading other comments on forum it seems it's quite normal
I don't know if my device has quirks
Check on the top left info, on the Device page
Good. It's a "patch" so that devices that are not fully compliant with the Zigbee spec work on ZHA
What about the on/off one? Also has quirk?
Yes. Quirk: zhaquirks.ikea.twobtnremote.IkeaTradfriRemote2Btn
And they work fine. There is just no stuff under trigger
Same as mine. I think it should show you a bunch of Triggers
Are you using the latest HA?
Latest stable docker.
Might be because of what zigbee bridge device I'm using. Not 100% sure. As I'm new to zigbee
Hi, is someone else besides me running AH in a virtualbox VM and has problems connecting the zigbee stick to the HA instance in the VM after updating the HA OS? Each time I connect the adapter to the VM serial port, the VM will not start anymore.
While this seems to be a Virtualbox problem, I wonder if more people experience this.
that's independent of the coordinator. by the way, on the Device page, if you click the plus โ sign on the "Automations" column, doesn't it show a few triggers?
like this https://imgur.com/a/6YUajqD
oh yeah, they show up
so they should show up in the "new automation" page. can you share a screenshot?
Oh, but nothing shows up on the ikea shortcut button.
ah, yeah so the large ikea remote seems to have the triggers
But ikea shortcut and ikea on / off don't
Oh, on /off has them as well ๐ค
๐
Why did I not see that before. Weird.
shortcut might be too new
Wow, blueprints are awesome. First time for me using them.
what's the best zigbee/zwave usb dongle for home Assistant? Husbzb-1? zooz s2?
The greatest zigbee stick is yet to be released ๐
Husbzb-1 is perfectly fine but long in the tooth. I would buy a cc2652 or EFR32 based zigbee stick, and a 700(?) series z-wave stick
I personally think so, yes. Conbee 2 is the most compatible stick but also the quirkiest
Ah gotcha. I know very little about the sticks.. just trying to get rid of smarthings hub
Do they have a cc2652 or EFR32 based zigbee stick on Amazon? I only see these really:
Where are you located?
USA
Texas Instruments adapters ship from there states quickly
They are dev kits, yes.
Elelabs is good for EFR32s
But that is ZHA only
Zzh/slaesh sticks are 2652s but ship from Europe
Oh okay, thanks
Just thought the dev kit wouldn't be as good without an external antenna
The trace antenna on the 1352 is great
@molten linden is building and selling 2652 hubs and efr32 bubs/sticks in the states
Hi all. Are any of you running node red as well and if so how do you deal with your button presses? Do you have device triggers set up? If so, any examples?
Hello ๐ do you guys have any experience with this zigbee blinds controller? https://www.insta.de/produktloesungen/nexentro/produktdetail/zigbee_jalousieaktor_mini
@gritty frigate Don't ask to ask, just ask your question. Then people can answer when they're around.
When you do ask a question, try to provide as much background detail as possible. Ask yourself these questions first so that others don't have to:
- What version of the Home Assistant are you running? (remember, last isn't a version)
- What exactly are you trying to do that won't work?
- Is the problem uniform or erratic?
- What's the exact error message?
- When did it arise?
- What exactly don't you "get"?
- Can you share sample code, ideally with line errors where the error occurs?
Oh - there is nothing wrong with this, just evaluating whether it's worth purchasing for somfy motorized blinds and connect within the motor housing
What I'm looking for is someone who may have this to get some experience on how difficult it is to connect & install, hook up via ZHA or z2m
You should ask the #node-red-archived folks ๐
Yeah, but not all of them will be using node-red, so then I'll get redirected back here
Well, all the #node-red-archived will be using #node-red-archived ๐
Indeed. So should there be a specific channel for people using both node red and zha?
Nah, more that you're asking about how folks using NR do a specific thing, so you're more likely to get that answered over there, than here
There's nothing magic about Zigbee when it comes to that
I suppose I was wondering about device triggers triggering something other than directly triggering a light to go on or off
so I have an aqara switch that seems to be bound to two lights, and I'm trying to unbound it
not much luck with the zigbee2mqtt webapp so far
interesting thing is I haven't setup binding manually, somehow they got bound during setup
for switches I just set up HA automations
most of them just do a light.toggle
- alias: Automation Remote T213-1
trigger:
platform: state
entity_id: sensor.t213_action
to: button_1_single
action:
service: light.toggle
entity_id: light.bedroom_2
Have cc2652 USB stick with 7 paired devices to zigbee2mqtt. I'd like to pair another device but nothing happens. What is the best way to debug? Nothings comes in the log. Is it possible to read the serial data on the USB port were the CC2652 USB stick is connected? Which software to use?
By the way the USB stick is physically connected to a MAC Mini, where I run Virtual Machine with Debian64 for HA
I had that before with z2m and it magically started working after re-flashing the stick ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I have this stick specifically: https://slae.sh/projects/cc2652/ You propose to reflash it with the same firm/software?
I checked and there was an update some days ago. Will give it a try. Thanks for the tip @obsidian bison!
Do you have the same stick?
no, I had a cheapie Chinese stick, just saying
And used koenkk his respository, I suppose. I downloaded the zip file and extracted to get the hex file but how to flash it in the CC2652 chip?
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/supported_adapters.html
read the docs ๐
or even on that page you linked, there's the instructions on how to flash
Hello everyone, I am just starting with hass.io and I am wondering what the best installation would be for a hass.io w/ zigbee2mqtt setup.
I would like to install home assistant on a RPi 3B+.
The documentation recommends either the Docker or Home Assistant OS install.
I would like to keep my pi available for runnning other stuff as well.
Would a docker container be the way to go?
Then yes, but #449717345808547842 doesn't give you add-ons or the Supervisor
Hass.io was the old name for the appliance like install option, that uses Docker. It is now simply called Home Assistant OS (see #330990055533576204).
Oh, I think I would like to be able to use those as I am more of a tinkerer.
They buy another Pi ๐
So Home Assistant core or Home Assistant supervisor should be the way to go?
๐คฃ
No
#330944238910963714 is here be dragons and you really should read the message in the channel topic there
From what you said, it doesn't sound like you want that
#551864459891703809 is for people happy to build software from source and troubleshoot obscure build errors
Every December you get to manually compile and install Python so you can rebuild your venv
Okay, thank you! I think I will read the docs more thouroughly before deciding between Docker or core.
lqi scale....56 is ok ?
If it's stable enough, yes
0 is dead and 254 is perfect (or the reporting is broken)
I see values from around 20 to around 174...
and 20 is ok..it communicates well with mqtt?
lqi is a scam
My experience is that stable matters as much as anything else
But, if it works, don't sweat the numbers
I don't think the manufacturers really cares about LQI. implementation varies. I like the old school SiLabs implementation where it was basically BER so you could see how reliable the link was
hi, my zigbee hub (Sonoff bridge with tasmota) stoped to work after upgrade to 2021.2.2. Anyone with the similar problem ?
The hub is up and running , but it disappear from the HASS and all my zigbee devices are offline
no Zigbee integration on the Integrations page (not the Addons page)
did the ip address change?
nope
it is there , but the hub is offline and all devices are offline
what does your log say, zha should have an error
i did try to delete integration and add again and now it can't find the socket
backlog rule1 on system#boot do TCPStart 8888 endon ; rule1 1 ; template {"NAME":"Sonoff ZHABridge","GPIO":[56,208,0,209,59,58,0,0,0,0,0,0,17],"FLAG":0,"BASE":18} ; module 0
i put this again in my zigbee bridge and did reboot
but port 8888 is still closed
I am trying to set up this stick https://slae.sh/projects/cc2652/#zigbee2mqtt with the zigbee2mqtt docker container, but keep getting an error when running the following command
docker run -it -v $(pwd)/data:/app/data
--device=/dev/serial/by-id/usb-...-port0
-e TZ=Europe/Brussels
-v /run/udev:/run/udev:ro --privileged=true
koenkk/zigbee2mqtt
Error while opening serialport 'Error: Error: No such file or directory, cannot open /dev/ttyACM0'
Running ls -l /dev/serial-by-id/usb-...-port0 outputs ../../ttyUSB0
How do I make the docker image use the correct port?
Try --device=/dev/serial/by-id/usb-*-port0:/dev/ttyACM0
Yea, I omitted the name for brevity. Turns out I simply had to reboot
I also adjusted the configuration.yaml, but I guess the --device flag overrides it?
Device mapping in docker makes the tty available or not available to the container -- so your destination map will always need to match what you have set in configuration.yaml
Thank you, they are matching ๐
Okay, so I got zigbee2mqtt and HA up and running, how do I add Zigbee devices from HA now?
Continue with this: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/sensor.mqtt/
Thank you!
Np, i am assuming your sensors are already visible somewhere on the MQTT broker so you can then copypaste the exact topics to your configs. I'd suppose further questions on the subject falls to #integrations-archived channel
Yes, a device popped up in my configuration.yaml
Is that where I should look for them?
I've got this Philips Hue motion sensor that drops off ZHA (ZZH stick) every 3-5 days or so. The symptom is hard to explain: the device goes into "unknown" state, then comes back with a reading, and gets stuck in that. For example: continuous motion is reported in the past 3 hours.
rebooting the device (battery out > in) doesn't help. Removing & adding it back onto ZHA will provide one single reading and get back to that state again for some reason
resetting the device completely and re-adding solves it, but weird that one would have to do that every X days
I've got a bunch of debug logs on it this time (great thing that I can build an automation to grab the logs and notify when the device drops off, lol) - but I'd like to ask for some guidance on what exactly to look for
I've got a snip of 2 minutes where this exactly happens, and I'm seeing the last time there's been entry, and the first time when it gone wild
there's like 1300 lines of log between those two ๐ฅณ
Ehh, that's not the thread I was looking for -- saw other people with more details in a issue or another thread
Post the 1300 line logs and I'll scan through it for you
oh great, thanks - let me filter out the totally unnecessary stuff (like the ping sensor not finding hosts, blah blah that's irrelevant) save 30%
I'm seeing quite some of "2021-02-11 17:14:32 DEBUG (MainThread) [zigpy_znp.zigbee.application] Request failed (Unsuccessful request status code: <Status.NWK_NO_ROUTE: 205>), retry attempt 2 of 5" that's quite suspicious
yep, trying to reach out but can't
Anyone experience with updating firmware on TI CC2652 Zigbee USB stick?
here we go https://pastebin.com/tKsrNKp6
0x60E is NWK?
I think it used to be ๐
this is the entity_id: binary_sensor.philips_sml001_test_occupancy
And interestingly I can't see network info for the ZZH stick

"left the network"
that's exactly that I can see from the sensor readings
goes dark, comes back, single reading, gone
I believe I have seen the same issue somewhere else... maybe in a open issue somewhere....
also, does this look normal? https://pastebin.com/NfhALHKy
doesn't look like anything to me, so yes -- normal
I mean: is it normal for a coordinator to have Nwk: 0x0000?
that's supposed to be the ZZH stick if I'm not mistaken
Yes, 0x000 is always the coordinator
IEEE 00:17:88:01:06:f7:d6:27 it is, that's the one
What integration are you using?
My HA is not properly detecting my Zigbee dongle I get an error Failed to probe ZNP radio with config {'path': ...
Using the https://slae.sh/projects/cc2652/#antenna stick
(My Zigbee2Mttq is working)
Are you using both Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA?
Sorry, not sure what you mean by ZHA
Are you using Zigbee2MQTT?
Failed to probe ZNP radio with config is generated only when you try to add the Zigbee Home Automation integration
Which takes exclusive control of the stick
Oh,
You can't use both Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA
so I do not need any integrations?
You gotta pick either Z2M or ZHA. Can't have both trying to control the same stick.
Okay, but how do I get my Zigbee2Mqtt devices in HA?\
I don't find the Zigbee device in HA
That I don't know, I don't use Z2M
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/integration/home_assistant.html is the answer ๐
I added the MQTT integration and now I can find the device
Is that how it is supposed to be done?
I haven't seen the MQTT integration being mentioned anywhere in the docs
You need to enable MQTT autodiscovery, so yes...
That's what I said back in #integrations-archived
But you also need an MQTT broker, like mosquitto
Everything is working now ๐ thanks guys.
I have mosquito running as a service, will look into dockerizing it in the near future ๐
how do i find out what turns my lights off
multiple of my lights just truning of :S
Same as always, look at the Logbook
You can click on Bathroom to look at that automation/script/whatever
its a light
so it looks like a light turns of another light
ok i see gota try do ad these to loig
Apologies if already said, Lidl in England have their smart home range out again in the tat aisles 21st Feb. Ooh the zigbee ๐
nice plugs, my go to was ikeas at ยฃ8 but these have the advantage of a button for them times you don't want to wip out the phone or have google spys all over the house
Ikea ones can be better choise due to the thickness of the lidls in some instants however
thickness of the lidls
Are you talking about the products or their clientele?
Asda is worse my friend
The devices on my sonoff zigbee bridge seem to be disconnecting after a day or two. How can I debug this?
using HA + ZHA + Tasmota and a SNZB-02/SNZB-03
are they far from the bridge? are you pairing near and taking further away?
Im don't move them. They are arguably a bit far but they manage to pair fine when I reset them (and work fine for a day or two).
by far I mean 3-4 concrete walls away. In liniar distance it's not far at all
would that explain why it disconnects even though it initially works for a day or two?
Yes
The problem is that the signal is going to be marginal. Initially you get lucky, and then your luck runs out
Interesting - I would have though if it connects, it would continue to work (even if only intermitently)
I've moved the base, lets see what happens.
Any recomendations for a repeater?
Well, depends on where you live on the planet ๐
However anything mains powered will do, other than some two wire dimmers and some lightbulbs
So, buy any Zigbee plug, or a dedicated router if you really want
switching back to singel straingth a sec. Is RSSI: -83 good?
hmm - really going to need repeaters then โน๏ธ
The scale is 0 to -100
From a quick search:
Anything at -80 and below ( meaning -85, -90, etc.) is mostly noise and you risk losing messages
Generally, anything -60 and above ( meaning -50, -40, etc.) would be considered a very strong signal.
Are these any good? https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tradfri-signal-repeater-30400407/
They're fine
Small generally means they won't have awesome antennas, but you can stick one after each wall ๐
shame cant have multiple controllers. They are cheaper and can use wifi as a bridge
recomends for something else? Google isn't showing much for "zigbee routers"
stupid google - https://zigbee.blakadder.com/routers
Routers are the things that route traffic - some call them repeaters, but that's not their name
or just get some plugs
You can then also automate other things with them ๐
Haven't seen many Type H plugs, but will take a closer look
Yes, I have pelenty of wifi based plugs ๐
WiFi .... ๐ค ๐คข ๐
Type H outlets also accept Euro plugs
If that's true (I have no idea) then that may be an option for you
I'd hardwire the mini's just to act as repeaters
The irony of pluging in repeaters to support wireless devices is that I'd prefer a plugin sensor to begin with! ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Greetings ๐ I'm reading that it's either zha or z2m and that decision has to be made. Would that still be the case with 2 separate zigbee dongles?
can I use ttyUSB0 as ZHA and ttyUSB1 for z2m?
no but then there's the question of why would you do that
you can still have your devices paired to only one of them
oh that's easy: I've got a few things configured on ZHA - and I'm looking to play around with z2m without the need to break what's in place :>
a "transition period" would be the best answer
you play all you like :D, i have 3 different dongles in action
For fun
main reason https://zigbee.blakadder.com/
I run two Z2M instances currently. The plan was to run one purely 3.0 and one purely 1.2, but right now it's more of a mess ๐
for fun is the best possible reason of them all ๐ฅณ
i also have one internal zigbee2tasmota network in testing ๐
my house is wifi polluted af
not wearing a foil hat tho I'm hoping :>
for the zigbee compatibility matrix there: is missing compatibility flag meaning: not compatible, or "unknown"?
Struggling to set up cc-tool to flash cc2531 on ubuntu 20.04. Even though I've installed recommended packages I'm getting this error: "configure: error: cannot find Boost headers version >= 1.39.0". Tried downloading boost manually and running ./configure --with-boost=/usr/local/boost_1_73_0 without luck. Any suggestions?
Recommended packages include: libusb-1.0-0-dev, libboost-all-dev, autoconf, libtool
Hm, installing g++ package solved it.
nothing is not compatible, it just depends when the gateway implements it
(lol)
I stil read that as "compatible with the gateway"
I need to update my terms ๐
Question; From time to time my lights doesn't respond. I have only Philips Hue and IKEA Trรฅdfri zigbee lights, some are grouped in deCONZ as groups, but from time to time (several times a week), when trying to turn on/off lights, Home Assistant reports the following:
[139763465325728] /groups/1/action Not connected
2:17:35 PM โ Home Assistant WebSocket API (ERROR) - message first occurred at 2:17:33 PM and shows up 2 times
Any idea why this happens and how to avoid it?
i had the same problem with deconz, i switched to ZHA and now it works
is it possible to back up the entire zigbee network in the case of a full damage to the conbee 2?
Interesting, want to try the same. Everything works after restarting the deCONZ add-on
every time i was restarting my virtual machine all the entities integrated via deconz were "not reacheble" untill the first wake up
Conbee not yet supported though โน๏ธ
If you are on deconz, I believe they have their own backup tool
i moved to zha
Right. Conbee backup not supported yet by ZHA/zigbee
but the procedure is on a linux based machine right?
Anywhere that python runs for supported adapters
FWIW, z2m and zha devs just finalized a common back up format and they would like deconz to join
nice to ear
so it would be done in the HA integration?
Anyone using a Sonoff ZBMini? Any way to reduce/remove the delay when using the external switch?
I noticed that it has an endpoint like the legrand dimmer:
242: {
PROFILE_ID: 41440,
DEVICE_TYPE: 0x0061,
INPUT_CLUSTERS: [],
OUTPUT_CLUSTERS: [0x0021],
}
could that cluster be useful for anything? It does not show up on ZHA currently, though
How to remove device permanently? I remove the device from zgibe2mqtt and home assistant, but after restart zigbe2mqtt this device always back. I don't have this device anymore.
been having some strange issues with my Nortek controller. So I added my conbee I and I am pairing from scratch to ZHA
but on this go around, I can't get the centralite (iris v2) 3326-L to pair. Is this a limitation of the conbee? Or am I forgetting something?
pull battery out, hold down reset button, re-insert battery?
after dozens of tries I did get one to be seen, but it won't finish the interview
another thing of note, the old EZSP device still shows up

Does is sound reasonable to report this in HA Core Github?
I managed to report it into a z2m thread somewhere that wasn't really the best place lol
Looks to me like the device just left your network
yes, that's what's happening
On its own though
it leaves, gets back on, reports one single sensor data, and leaves again - and from this point on, it looks like that ZHA is not registering the device as left properly, but it gets stuck in the interface
e.g. constantly detecting motion
for as long as I dont remove, reset the device and add it back up again
I thought the device was wrong or something, but it doesn't do that when connected to a Philips Hue HUb
so that can't be it really
Well the device itself seems to be indicating to the network that it is leaving
It's not just dropping off the network
that makes sense, yeah
No idea why it would do that though
This is how it looks like:
detected occupancy: 5:02:25 PM - 1 hour ago
became unavailable: 5:01:31 PM - 1 hour ago
detected occupancy: 5:01:27 PM - 1 hour ago
and ever since 5:02 PM it's reporting constant occupancy
well, by HA at least - while we know that the device left the network (whatever the reason is for that, but it did)
Yeah, I swear I saw a long thread with similar issues on this -- haven't been able to find it
Any available FW updates?
it looked a lot like this: https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/2693 ๐
but that's z2m
latest firmware on both the sensor and ZZH stick too
I've had other devices doing similar in past, but those were addressed by the TI firmware update (memleak if brain serves)
that left this single device dropping off (well, leaving to be more appropriate)
Could still be the same root cause
ahh yeah, that was the thread, thank you
Z2M and ZHA don't do anything fundamentally different when talking to the coordinator
Here' was Koenk's fix -- rediscover parent? https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/4694
I think I have that added to znp
Yeah, you do -- doesn't seem like it should send ZDO leave on parent change either
and also sounds like route eventually ages out and it recovers on it's own
that's an interesting thread, thanks
now there is something weird I've just noticed and haven't shared just yet
when this happens, removing & readding the device in ZHA looks quite interesting
(w/o reset, etc)
"Sending 'zdo_leave_req' failed: "
The behavior is very similar (but I didn't have logs of that unfortunately, so can't prove that 100%)
"TheJulianJES commented on 6 Jan
Same issue also happens on ZHA (HomeAssistant) sometimes. So it doesn't look like it's a bug in either ZHA / Z2M."
Have 4 of them with firmware 0x420049e0 and 0x42006bb7 that works fine at home with a CC2652RB (last firmware; zha)
so... using my lutron auroras bound directly to my sengled bulbs (via zigbee2mqtt) doesn't appear to actually update the light entity in HA. any ideas where I should look to hunt this down?
Cool, that's great to know, thanks - I'll reflash everything again, wipe'em to the ground ๐
Looks like it was the controller. Switched out for another HUZB1 I have and have been pairing all day since this morning
I'm trying to do an backup->restore with bellows. Backup was done from sonoff bridge withou any problem. The new device is with same chip Elelabs usb pen (POPP ), Updated firmware on the pen, but bellows always give timeout. Any hint?
found, problem with default baudrate
I started my adventure with zigbee by using some pre-flashed CC2531 and Sonoff SNZB-04 as a door sensor. Overall it works but I've noticed that some times sensor becomes unavailable for some unknown reason. In last 24h it happened two times: once at 3:28 and it lasted until 7:29 when I opened the door and the second was at 19:07 until 20:02 where the door were opened. Is this some deep sleep that causes this? I noticed that there is some exception in log around that time: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/ZGdh8XcJvR/ Should I be worried?
yeah, so when I interact with the lutron, only that device gets any messages in mqtt
and the state of my bulb never changes from zigbee2mqtt
Yeah, I still have my outdoor Hue motion sensor blinking in an indoor room with like 6 Hue (Bluetooth) lights. It has a long red blink every so often (sometimes multiple times a day, sometimes it doesn't happen (or I don't see it?) at all).
I'm also running the latest firmware on my TI coordinator (the one with the lockup bug fixed).
Still happens somtimes
However, the sensor usually doesn't become "unavailable"
Even when it has a long red blink, Home Assistant seems to have seen the sensor change to "occupied" for 10 seconds.
Edit: Now, I've just had the sensor lighting up red (occupying on Hass) and then not sending the clear event (even after 60 seconds).
"Activating" it again and that sent the clear fine.
It's likely nothing serious but enable https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#debug-logging and upload/send the relevant section of your home-assistant.log file just to be sure (when it happens again)
My CC2652 seems to be unresponsive after a day or two of being plugged in, and needs to be powered cycled (unplug and plug back in). Is there something I need to update or is this expected?
After a while zigbee2mqtt spits out SRSP - AF - dataRequest after 6000ms.
FYI, looks like we have a viable 6.7.8 for HUSBZB-1 users https://github.com/grobasoz/zigbee-firmware/blob/master/EM3581/NCP_USW_EM3581-LR_678-57k6.ebl
Are you running the latest firmware?
I'm unsure where I can find the firmware for it.
Ah never mind.
Ah, this a bit of a process.
For the CC2652?
CC2652RB
It's just cc2538-bsl.py -p /dev/... -evw CC2652R_coordinator_20210120.hex
If it's the RB then you don't need to do anything to put it into bootloader mode
@austere patio Is there anything I need to do to maintain the list of connected zigbee devices, or is that stored elsewhere in flash?
If you're using Z2M I believe it does a backup
But the -e in the command erases everything
I think Z2M has a coordinator_backup.json file or something
If you're using ZHA, do a backup: https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy-znp#nvram
@fervent tiger posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/jfFgv2CpMg/
How to remove device permanently? I remove the device from zgibe2mqtt and home assistant, but after restart zigbe2mqtt this device always back. I don't have this device anymore.
@devout egret make sure it's removed from ha and z2m's configs as well
if that helps, not sure
I removed this from devices.yaml and it back after restart zigbe2mqtt
Have you tried it? I don't think it has compatible pin configured, as i was getting some data in the terminal, but it does not respond to reset requests
I have flashed this new one and it was responding
CONFIG_APS_UNICAST_MESSAGE_COUNT: 20
CONFIG_MAX_END_DEVICE_CHILDREN: 32
CONFIG_SOURCE_ROUTE_TABLE_SIZE: 200
CONFIG_ROUTE_TABLE_SIZE: 16
CONFIG_ADDRESS_TABLE_SIZE: 16
when I setup ZHA, do I need to create this zigbee.db file? I'm running via Docker
No. It's created automatically
so if I shell into the Docker container and don't see it, my device might not be setup correctly?
Are you manually creating this docker container?
If you add the Zigbee Home Automation component and pick a coordinator stick, everything else should "just work"
I think it worked, thanks
Ok, so I turned on logging. Device went offline exactly at 02:45:32 until 08:22:46. And those are all the entries around that time that are zha related: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/dTQg4wmgtY/ Anything looks suspicious to you?
Hello everyone.
For Zigbee2MQTT would it work to use a coordinator of one kind (i.e. zzh! CC2652R) with a different type as coordinator(i.e. CC2531)?
You don't use two coordinators.
The coordinator is the 'driver' of your network. Everything else is routers/nodes.
@dry fossil sorry, i meant router ๐
You can use pretty much anything on your network as routers. The network doesn't care.
IKEA lightbulbs... wall switches...
CC2652R coordinator and CC2531 as router
Yep, that'll work.
understood, thank you
Dear all,
How can I activate Heiman Siren?
I see it as light and is set to "area" that I called alarm.
I saw on page: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/deconz/
tat this device is supported.
I have ConBee II USB on HA.
Please help me...
Best regard,
Gordan Dinter
are there any known issues with pairing zigbee 3.0 sensors through Hue bulbs? (using the Add via this device button in ZHA)
I use Home Assistant OS. I'd like to add an unsupported device. I believe I have to use https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee-herdsman-converters Zigbee Herdsman converter but don't know how to start in HA OS.
It seems you should be a pro to add an unsupported device but with the right push I should be able to do it. Do I have to start in the Debian 64 machine?
It's being logged when the device is already unreachable and a command is being sent to your CC2531 that it is too old to process during the retry logic
According to Tindie, Slaesh's stick has been sold out since Dec 03 and the zzh has been sold out since Jan 19
Shipping has be awful lately. I ordered additional esp32 Ethernet boards, they were shipping out at the end of January have been sitting at JFK for over a week according to tracking. Electrorama posted on Twitter the other day he had 35 kg of product waiting for a flight in China.
What is the correct procedure with zigbee2mqtt if device does not pair successfully? I usually remove both the incomplete devices from both configuration.yaml and database.db, but is this necessary or even right way of doing?
I notice a bit difference with using zigbee2mqtt vs going native trรฅdfri hub when using the 5 button control puck to dim/bright the lights, somewhat a kind of laggy vs smooth scaling, is this a known issue or did I fumble somewhere? Any recomended blueprint for automations? Perhapps I used a "bad" one?
Shouldnโt you need to program your own behavior for those buttons if using zigbee2mqtt? By default nothing more than mqtt message received with action telling which button was pressed or released?
Unless paired (also) directly with the bulbs on the same zigbee mesh?
Anyone used the zigbee switches? I've got one that fires events, but no idea how to get it into an automation
Zigbee :bee: - please remember to mention whether you're using zha (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha), deCONZ (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/deconz), zigbee2mqtt (https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io), or even something else.
Looking for devices? See https://zigbee.blakadder.com/ and https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/supported_devices.html.
โ๏ธ has a key question ๐
yeah, used a blueprint and programmed an action. Noticable difference in the smooth dimming. Just looking to poke at the issue and see if anyone else has noticed the difference. May be the blueprint is the culprit and there is other commands I can send too.
Sorry, no idea. Using node red for my needs for tradfri remotes and onoff-controllers.
Anyone who run HA OS was able to add an unsupported z2m device?
I've done it outside of haos
Shouldn't be different with access to file system
But I don't touch add-ons
haos. like chaos without the crazy
Looking for automation for lumi.remote.b686opcn01, to set up multiple actions in one automation. For zigbee2mqtt, found only for ZHA
hey, i noticed that battery only seems to get updated when home assistant restarts. is there a way to have this happen periodically?
at least, it's only sent to influx at startup
z-wave seem to update periodically without restarting HA
@orchid elbow that depends on the device, not HA
regarding influx, check the value in HA instead, to know if it is being updated only on startup?
hrm, must be HA only logs it if there's a change rather than every time the device reports
Have you checked the history in HA instead of influx?
yes, they match. i guess the issue is, HA only sends values if they change, which makes my battery graph empty if the timerange doesn't include the last datapoint
that doesn't appear to be the case for z-wave though. gotta check influx with a direct query i guess.
i get data points for 100% battery from z-wave outside of restarting HA
https://paste.ee/p/lcSN9#RSUIgt1U20B8UFM8MGoAFy62RsywfnbK can see the ecolinks sending 100% battery outside the restart windows
i have a hard time believing that all of my zigbee sensors only send a battery level reading when it changes
btw, no battery state changes seem to show up in logbook, and the history graph is pretty hard to discern individual data points. it just shows a flat line for weeks without any hoverable points
ok, there are datapoints in the HA history graph, but they correspond to restarts
Could be bad bind @orchid elbow
i've got an event listener up for "zha_event". will see if anything comes in
i suppose even if something is "deduplicating" the event should still send
Should be attribute report? So won't trigger event?
Has to be subscribed though for proactive attribute reporting to work
i get attribute updated events from an accelerometer (that is stationary)
we'll see
"command": "attribute_updated",
Some devices get overwhelmed during pairing too and not all binds work
Hey All, im not sure how to get started with ZHA's quirks and writing one for my devices. in particular i have tons of Tuya TS0505A and only on/off is working, zigbee2mqtt seems to fully support it. Would be someone interested in writing a quirk based off this - i'll sponsor it and would pay.
I would go for zigbee2mqtt if i would have a compatible gateway ๐ but im on tasmotized sonoff
I'm suffering range issues w/ a cc2531 off alibaba using zigbee2mqtt. If my lights (EcoSmart A9A19A60WESDZ02) aren't a couple inches away from the 2531 they're not communicating at all.
Is my cc2531 a dud? Any debugging advice?
Cc2531 is horrible of you live in anything else than a 50m2 apartment with thin walls
And that is only if it has an antenna
Sounds pretty normal without an antenna and no routers
I'd expect range of a dozen feet or so, maybe one wall
A few inches says you've either got a very noisy RF environment, or you bought a brick
My cc2531 refused to pair anything except if I was 35cm away before I got the first router
I put it on a usb extension & moved it to a channel where there was low wifi traffic
At that point I just chucked it
With antenna I get decent range out of them. Without, not so much, but still enough for the next room - just
ah well
ty both for confirming my concerns
The popular ones (zzh and slaesh) are usually out of stock @pearl tapir but the cc1352p2 has been solid for me and is always in stock
Yeah, the dev boards are larger, ugly, and always available ๐
So basically the sensor itself goes sleep and all the exceptions are just result of that, right? So I shouldn't be worry too much about that...especially since it always came back online at the moment sensor is triggered.
Is there a way to disable the magnetic??? physics in ZHA network visualization
Sure, just don't look at it.
You have two options for changing it... feature request (ask nicely on the forums) or pull request (do the code change yourself).
But calling someone else's hard work 'bloody annoying' is unlikely to go down well.
I only check the maps when I've added new devices - and at that a few days later to see how they've ended up connected
i apologize, i did not mean to diminish someone's work on that feature, just wanted to ask around if it can be disabled already before investigating further, as i couldn't find relevant info in docs or in ui
No harm done, just be careful with the language you use - even if you're frustrated. And my initial thoughts would be that it can't be disabled anyway.
If it could I'd expect an option in the UI
Network graphs like that have to re-evaluate the connections over many, many iterations to come up with a stable representation. If they did it all before rendering anything, it would introduce quite a delay before you saw anything.
With UI's, you generally want something rendered on screen as quickly as possible so users know something's happening. Maybe it could be hidden behind a 'loading screen' while it evaluates ๐คทโโ๏ธ
All depends on whether the tools being used to render the network graph signals when it's done calculating it.
There's one for Z-Wave that does a fixed mesh, but it scales poorly terribly
Yeah, I think that's why most libraries do that weird iterative thing.
Any weighted/network graph is going to be backed by algorithms... those algorithms take way more iterations than I care to think about ๐
Simple stuff like bubble sort is bad enough when you have to do it by hand on large datasets.
The "magnet" thing is the one I've most commonly seen for working with large dynamic datasets.
It canโt be disabled at the moment
Has anyone ever seen a mains powered zigbee nightlight that also has a motion sensor? Iโm kind of surprised they donโt seem to exist as it would be super convenient way to solve two problems at once and also avoid adding yet more battery powered devices to my house.
Hey all, has anyone issues with the states of the ZHA devices in HA? I'm having some issues lately not sure if it was the January or February update, but states aren't shown of lights anymore (hue/ikea)
Is it possible to change entity ID's for items in zigbee2mqttassistant? I can change friendly name which gets carried across to home assistant but my switches have ID's like switch. 837738999x00x for example..
I'm at the latest versions now, and on my toggle entity card I can put my light on, but state isn't set in HA. So can't get it off. When I use the More Info panel (with the switch) it can be put on/off cause that switch will go to the on state.
Also nothing is shown in my logs. So the on/off trigger isn't show there. Automations are still working fine on motions, but also not setting states in HA
Is it OK the change the entity ID's in the home assistant UI? I'm useing latest zigbee2mqttassistant
Latest version of zigbee2mqtt also
'Latest' is not a version number. Please provide the actual version number.
Any reason not to use the native UI?
version:ย 1.17.1-1 zigbee2mqtt
version:ย 0.3.157 zigbee2mqttassistant
I can change the friendly name in zigbee2mqttassistant but is doesn't change the entity ID's in home assistant
How?
Removed items added back changed in zigbee2mqtt selected save I'd to home assistant.. Job done.. Thanks for your help @sour shadow
I'll have to look more closely at what this error message actually means but since it happens after your device is already not responding to normal requests, it's too late
Yeah, it's a new year. Every thing going to be super slow for another week or two
Just submit a PR to make visualization params configurable bottom lovelace
@gentle flint yea I tried to get things in before the CNY, this is the one holding me up, and it made it out.. I don't know if it is caught in customs or what. https://imgur.com/a/5IVTVvR
I'm trying to reconnect some Philips Motion Sensors to Deconz /Phoscon after I deleted them due to inconnectivity. Now they just will not pair at all - what am I doing wrong? Do anyone have any tips?
Did you enable join mode?
Join mode? Im in the Add new sensor > Philips > Motion Sensor
I have a Sonoff Bridge flashed with Tasmota and ZHA integration installed. I have a Sonoff button which I can see on listen to events 'zha_event'. I also have a Sonoff door sensor which I can see on the Tasmota console on the Sonoff Bridge but it it does not produce any events in the zha_event monitor.
Does HA treat the door sensor differently ie it doesn't use zha_event even though it send messages through the same bridge as the button?
I have a Mi Magic Cube (new) linked to my Conbee II. I seem not to get the rotate left and right working. The rest of the actions seems to work fine. I have checked the device to connect to the MI app and it works fine. I am on Conbee version 2.9.3. If I look at the deconz_event I don't see any events.
@edgy flume for me it shows up as binary sensor with IAS zone
Im not sure how to get started with ZHA's quirks and writing one for my devices. in particular i have tons of Tuya TS0505A and only on/off is working, zigbee2mqtt seems to fully support it. Would be someone interested in writing a quirk based off this - i'll sponsor it and would pay.
Want to move it forward of course to also give back to the community.
Good Morning!
I assume updating my conbee2 to the newest firmware manually is a bad idea? ๐
HA doesnt find zigbee devices anymore.
Dresden electronics recommends this firmware update for zha usage
Hi. Can someone tell me why my vibration sensor under deconz different and too high temperatures? They lie next to each other and my multisensor shows 23degree and the vibration 26/33/31/33.
No. Not a bad idea
But when i update to 0x26680700 the stick seems to be recognized but i cannot use it anymore. Not able to control any devices
What os are you using to upgrade? And how are you running deconz
I was using GCFFlasher on Windows. Im not using deconz, i use ZHA in Homeassistant
Windows should be fine. May have to flash a few times to get it to take right from my experience. Or try a different version
ZigBee2MQTT is showing an available update but when I click update the button goes red and update does not start
Check the logs for your add-on
I did.. It doesn't populate with anything new
The #add-ons-archived may know more about how to find out why it's not updating then
I'm migrating away from using a Hue hub over to Zigbee2MQTT. I've noticed that the literal hue on the color where in HA where I click is offset slightly. Like when I click where I click for red I get more of a magenta from my Hue bulbs. Has anyone else hit something similar?
Hue said the hue of your hues is skewed?
huehuehue
I have some Gledopto RGB+CCT LEDs that previously I had paired with my Hue hub, just moved them off over to Zigbee2MQTT. Most of these are recessed down lights but also a couple of LED strips. When I try to create a scene in the UI providing a value for color_temp through the slider the LED turns on the correct warm/cool LEDs and as far as I can tell switches off the RGB LED. However after I save the scene through the UI, the light switches off the warm/cool LEDs and then fires up the RGB LED to show what feels like the closest value on the color wheel.
This is also the case for when I turn on the scene, it'll only turn on the RGB LED.
If I edit the scene manually and remove hs_color, rgb_color, and xy_color, the scene turns on the correct CCT LED and not the RGB LED, however whenever the lights turn on they flicker before hitting the correct temp/brightness.
Ah ok, I should leave xy_color alone.
If I remove and reinstall zha will I have to re-pair all my devices and set everything up again?
I got some zigbee buttons that has to be paired close to the coordinator, so in my case the texas instruments CC2531. However this is in my shed, woould it be the same to pair it with a zigbee node with router functionality?
Or cna I go to my shed, pair it then go back where i want it?
I've had devices where the instructions said to pair next to the coordinator but where I preferred to try next to where it was going to be used instead, for reasons.
It worked.
If your mesh can handle it, you might as well give it a try
or rather you will find out if your mesh can handle it
Thanks, I thought so. Yea I have tried a lot but i think its more a problem with my device, its a stupid ikea button that when i click the pair button it also clicks the button
The other route is pair close to your coordinator, then press the range test button when you get back to where you want to use it
aha
Ahh, I think that's basically the same as the button that ships with their window blinds
yea i think so
I think I was able to pair it on location, but I am not sure
Pairing in place is always the best thing to do, since the device then knows how to connect to the mesh. Some devices, like Xiaomi, won't reconnect if you move them out of range of the device they connected via
Hey guys, my friend is planning to build a smart home using Home Assistant to my recommendation. We are planning on using Zigbee devices, which we obsivously need a hub for. I ve got the cheap CC2531 usb stick, which works quite well, but I wanna ask if there is something more simple to use which doesnt require flashing any firmware and would look nicer in the room than this ugly green antenna.
Any recommendations? Are there any other universal zigbee hub devices?
Well, depends on your choice of Zigbee integration...
What do you mean? We are planning on controlling devices from different manufacturers.
There are three Zigbee options with Home Assistant (regardless of how you install it). These are:
deCONZ is relatively stable and mature with its own UI (and Discord server). It can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, or natively. Only the ConBee range of sticks and RaspBee GPIO boards are support. Known working devices are documented, and how to request support for a new device is documented too (you can't add unsupported devices yourself).
zha is actively developed as part of Home Assistant Core, using the zigpy stack, the UI also being part of Home Assistant. The EmberZNet based sticks are recommended, but there are other options. There is no list of supported devices, as any standards compliant device should work. Devices that require extra support are listed, and adding unsupported devices is documented (you can't add unsupported devices yourself).
Zigbee2MQTT is very actively developed and can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, and natively. As of 1.15 has a native UI, and it also uses MQTT for control and configuration. It supports mostly TI based sticks, with the Zig-Ah-Zig-Ah! and Slaesh's sticks being recommended. The known working devices are well documented (which usually includes how to pair them so you don't have to find the manual), and adding unsupported devices is also documented.
โ๏ธ your choice of Zigbee integration ๐
If you're using zha you get one set of options, Zigbee2MQTT another, and deCONZ another again
atm I am using Zigbee2MQTT which works really well imo
which one do you recommend?
That one ๐
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/supported_adapters.html is your list of choices, and the one you currently have is the worst choice ๐
