I could still keep node and get rid of Mqtt tho
Totally
Does mqtt offer anything above what I can do with zha?
Depends on whether you've got any node red mqtt listeners
I do but I could replace those with the HA pallets
I've got the 4 of the snzb-04s and they're solid. Much better than the ikea ones. They actually check in and don't drop off the network!
All you can do is try it I suppose. What are you not satisfied with with z2m?
Tbh the service calls in HA have more functionality than z2m, I guess I’m trying to understand if there is any point in using z2m anymore since zha is maturing
That's fair. I just wish I could pair my ikea bulbs
So device support is still not up to standard?
I've heard other people say that they have had to try pairing their ikea bulbs up to like 15 times before it took
Right, I had a similar experience with my Aqara sensors on z2m though 🙂
Also my ikea ones weren’t fantastic for pairing either
It's really frustrating. I'm wondering whether the network channel has anything to do with it
Is there any use for mqtt outside of this though
The advantage is that more things outside of HA talk it, I guess. But if all you're using is HA then maybe not
I use MQTT for many other things, and really like having HA and my Zigbee stacks decoupled
stacks
Hello, im seaching for an temperature/humidity sensor (perferably zigbee), currently i got the TuYa TS0201, but the update delay is way too long, to track everything, has anyone a recomendation for better ones (perferably with display)
Immax sensor
I notice my zigbee2mqtt raspberry pi crashes like once a week, a poweroff fixes it. What log could I check? I noticed mosquitto log has no timestamps
Kernel log?
Seems to only contain the startup info
There should be older files in /var/log
yea i checked both from 28 jan when i booted it and 23. il try to find timestamp of when i loist it
Crashes on a Zero aren't unknown. On any Pi it's usually power or SD card
Hmm I find some in the syslog on the timestamp, I see alot of MQTT activity at 17:33 just when I lost connectivity. But nothing at this time in the recent kernel logs
Failing SD would be in the logs, so it's more likely to be power
Well it is always powered on, and works after a poweroff\poweron so it cant have been a power outage. But maybe something from with the voltages etc idk?
Pi's are fussy about getting reliable power
Anyway I could reboot it every second night as long as it doesnt turn all lighs to 100% when it wakes up
If you run them on anything other than a quality 2.5A power supply then it can fall over
Aha thats probably it then thansk
A proactive system reboot wouldnt help much with the power either i assume, since that hardware
it's also that the official supplies supply 5.1v to combat vdroop over the wires
trying to add a wireless zigbee switch https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/ZYCT-202.html but keeps erroring https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/B7gcsPdy5p/ out in zigbee2mqtt see logs tried resetting/pairing 10x , it does get added in HA though , but no actions/ lqi ?
Hello. I am looking for wall switch with ideally 3 small buttons, that would communicate using zigbee. Can be plugged to former 220V wall switch location to receive power (but not to open/close the main). From a design perspective: something of this type https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/4000540026254.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.6f3e4b023il9ma&algo_pvid=521a6fce-4d21-4a1b-96b9-aa0a929da219&algo_expid=521a6fce-4d21-4a1b-96b9-aa0a929da219-17&btsid=2100bddb16118396446456181e4464&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_
Would you have any recommendations ?
So I recently have this Linkind keypad, to arm and disarm my HA manual alarm, but it only registers its battery level and IAS zone; any idea how I can use it as an actual keypad?
closest that I saw about it is https://github.com/zigpy/zigpy/issues/419
Just what happen to me: :))))
So I have a SmartThings Button connected to zigbee network via ZHA, powered by a Panasonic CR2450 (remember it it is important) and my battery show under 50% power. So I thought, lets change the battery, did just that and put in it a Varta CR2450. After this i notice single press of the button automation doesn't work anymore but long press still works. So at this point I am thinking, heh zigbee, let's re pair it, I do that and still nothing. With that Varta battery in I could not make that single press work (no events in zha_event at all). I rip off battery measure it, voltage over 3,2V unlike Panasonic one that had under 3V. I put back Panasonic battery, everything works just fine, change to Varta same story, single push button doesn't work at all.
Explain that? 🙂 Ofc I've put a new Panasonic battery in it now and works ok now. Zigbee conspiracy or Samsung just hate Varta? :))
@raw gale Zigbee fire events, is normal to see only battery of that keypad
I do not believe keypads are fully supported in ZHA yet.
issue is, I don't see it firing events 😦
will play a bit more with it today
@raw gale what zigbee integration do you use? see if it's supported
I use ZHA, and it's not listed iirc, but I was kinda hoping it would just fire events, like some wall button I have here
it blinks its 'connection' led too, will try to re-pair it first
@raw gale i think there is a way to add it to zha, i am not sure how but you can find on internet what to do to add a device, what you need to provide for the guys to make a handlers (i think they are call) for that device
hm, status says it saw the device 15 minutes ago, so it should be paired correctly still (did so last evening)
if is not according to zigbee spec then needs a handler
you have a link for this device
?
yeah, figured, that's why I linked that zigpy issue, it seems relevant (even lists the device), but was hoping there was something more to try except waiting for that
product page?
it's the keypad in this one
the sensors just work 🙂
I have the model and fcc id for you if you like 😉
ZHA works in this way: let any device join the network, if is according to zigbee specs works out of the box, if is not according to zigbee specs it needs a handler or this is my understanding, the facts that it let it join the network does not mean it works 100%
I am aware; I think the reason I am here is more the "what can I do from here?". I would like to help a dev get this integrated
yeah 🙂
it is, has nice led backlight too, but well... It does not work like I want (yet) 😉
and I refuse to use its mothership siren hub thingee
as that defies the purpose of it arming/disarming the HA built-in manual alarm thing
dmulcahey commented on May 18, 2020 - Yep. I’ll get back to this soon hopefully
yah don't hold your breath 🙂
and the sensors all work?
yeah, I paired a contact sensor just fine (that one is listed as supported, along with the motion sensor)
keypad is a different story in general, of course, as it is not really a sensor, switch or light, but a category on its own, but was hoping for a bit more support
it's hard to find good keypads 🙂
would you be a nice guy to add them here after you test them well: https://zigbee.blakadder.com/index.html
ah, sure
just so others would benefit and buy them
thought it already listed them, but maybe it was a different list I saw them on
dunno did not look for them but pls make sure they are there also
regardin this there are some very good guys here that manage zha, if you contact them they will add it
this list them as compatible one with ztmqtt and other one with deconz, for none of them says ZHA
oh right, I'll add those then
different integrations
that would be swell; do I ping people here, or would making some noise in that ticket make more sense?
I'll update that then
hm, is that a new template, or an edit page?
i think here, you have to catch them here, one of the best I know is @gentle flint if you can ask him nicely
much appreciated, thanks for all your answers and help! I am currently looking how to update a listing at Blakadder's, but is that submitting a new template, or is there an easier way to say "this known device also works with ZHA"?
i am not sure
alright, I'll figure it out 🙂
@raw gale ty
Hey ho, is there a huge difference between the CC2531 and the Conbee II?
The CC2531 and CC2530 sticks are cheap for a reason. They're fine for testing, but do yourself a favour and buy something better.
Depends on which integration you'll be using it with, but ... yeah, don't buy the CC2530/31
ok , my NAS dont accept the Conbee II , and with the cc2531 i have many interruptions (not available entitites)
i dunno if this apply but read into it:
etc
and you go from here
tbh i used my old conbee 2 on a synology DS716+II and works well without any oth that
Hm, ok with me it didn't recognize it as a USB device at all, interesting threads
i dont use docker, but the main os from the nas does not recognize it
yep, check if someone did some drivers for qnap
ill try: https://www.qnapclub.eu/fr/qpkg/803
and trust me use docker is the best, any addons you might have on hasos you can get and configure as separate docker containers, becuase they are just that
I'm working on a serial over ethernet bridge coordinator that will solve access issues for vm users.
that sounds amazing
first very small batch available within next 10 days.
Do you have plans to (eventually) ship it to Europe? (Germany)
I mean if the cost isn't prohibitive. I haven't really looked into it yet. I'm in the US. - head deep in finalizing the design and testing.
And i thought about a nuc, would be great when it works
I need to move my PC (with HUSB Zigbee stick) to another room/floor of my house. Is this going to screw up my mesh? Is there anything I should do before/after I move it?
It should be fine, Zigbee meshes are self-healing.
Excellent, thanks!
Worst case, it takes up to 24 hours to fully settle
ah, that's ok, nothing crisis-causing. Waiting on zwave advice, but yeah, the move is going ot happen. Centralizing is good!
Hi. Greetings from Austria.
I'm facing an issue with ZHA and an Aqara opple 6-button switch, and I'm not 100% sure if it's a 'bug' or if I'm doing something wrong.
The setup: ZHA -> TCP/8888 to an sonoff zbbridge... everything working as expected, just the Opple switches are sending ZLL commands (on,off,step,move...) instead of 1_single, 1_double,1_triple etc.
Found this issue on tasmota github page: https://github.com/arendst/Tasmota/issues/9823
If I stop using the tcp socket connection and use zigbee2tasmota instead, I can switch the mode of the opple switch by issuing the command ZbSend {"Device":"0x1234","Manuf":"0x115F","Write":{"OppleMode":1}}
After binding them to ZHA again, the mode seems to be ZLL again 😦
You can write attributes using ZHA too
Look at the zha.set_zigbee_cluster_attribute service -- use the decimal value of the commands in the above linked issue
Enable debug logging to see fi attribute write was successful - https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/#debug-logging
ZbSend {"Device":"0x5E59","Manuf":"0x115F","Write":{"FCC0/0009%10":1}}
ZbSend {"Device":"0x5E59","Manuf":"0x115F","Write":{"FCC0/0009%10":0}
Use IEEE instead of NWK, 0x115F would be 4447, assume FCC0 is cluster and attribute, you'd have to look through "manage clusters" under ZHA to see
Don't know if that buys you anything in solving your root problem, but that's a start -- gotta run for now
great. thanks. I'll try this out tomorrow and will send some feedback then.
I have already looked to set_zigbee_cluster_attribute service, but it looks like I was jumping away from it too fast and tried other stuff 🙈
should be able to write the attributes through the UI too
Anyone tried Hassio in ESXi along with Zigbee2mqtt?
Any recommended humidity sensor? I'm using zha
I have a konke temp/humidity controlling my bathroom fan. It works well.
hey, is anybody using an aqara magic cube with zha (conbee2). can't get (double) tap working. slide, drop, shake etc are working. there's also no battery info. is this normal?
I might've done something stupid.
I have HA set up and working with ikea TRADFRI lights and motion sensors using the ikea gateway hub and running HA on a rpi3. I wanted to switch to zigbee2mqtt and got a zzh dongle, set it up with a remote controller and everything worked fine. My problem is that during recent renovations I removed all light switches from the walls (complete do over of everything), so basically I have no way to easily reset my ikea FLOALT and other bulbs short of flipping the main breaker quickly.
TLDR: Is there a way to reset ikea lights or connect to them if I don't have wall switches or dimmers I can connect them to?
No wall switches? 🤣
That's not very friendly to normal people, and I hope you have plans for when you'll do when that Pi dies
Sadly, yes, you need to toggle power to the bulbs...
I thought just putting a few zigbee switches on the wall would do and then I wouldn't need the wiring in the walls. Also I could move them about when putting in new furniture etc.
I'm assuming you've checked that what you've done is legal, and won't cause you problems if/when you try to sell the house, or even insure it 😉
How would it be illegal? it's my house
Wiring standards vary across the world 😉
If you've made changes against local regulations you may find that you can't sell the house, and your insurance is invalidated
To be honest you're not really helping. It was done by a trained electrician, but it's not exactly rocket science. The wirings in the thin concrete walls were very old and dangerous(thin, ungrounded, old aluminium wires), so I had the whole thing removed and a completely new network done in the suspended ceiling. I didn't want switches because I'd have neeeded to run ugly raceways to all light switches or chisel the thin walls somehow which wasn't really an option. It works as intended with the TRADFRI hub and remote pairing and I have ikea switches to every light in every room attached to the walls. The problem is needing to reset them to connect to zigbee2mqtt.
screw them out- and into their sockets?
I have a seperate breaker for the lighting, so I can do that in the end. If it doesn't work with doing them all at the aame time I can disconnect the other ones and do them one at a time. Thanks @south dune
I was just hoping there was a way to send a reset command to the bulbs somehow
@barren spade https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/2396#
You may be able to ZLL reset individual bulbs with a remote
(Or with z2m on a laptop held up to the ceiling)
Holy hell. you need physical switches. even if you wanted to cause yourself a headache down the road redoing stuff don't cause yourself to have to suffer with just candle light because you didn't want to rerun wiring for a physical switch.
Plus resetting the breaker to repair a bulb is madness. You'll have to repair every bulb on that breaker each time.
I was planning on having switches, just wireless ones :D :D
that was the whole point. I'm rewiring all the lights so they go into a hidden switch panel so I can trigger them individually if I really need to.
This is what I was looking for but couldn't find, thank you very much
i'm seeing an increased number of compatibility submissions for deconz and zha to my site, thanks everyone and keep it up!
switch panel you mean switch box with just a face plate over it right? cause that would be the smarter thing to do
you cannot escape the fact that some point this smart home stuff will break/change/discontinue but wiring for a normal light switch will always be around
Yes just a bunch of small switches going to each light source on a board hidden in the central cupboard hub thing
so as Tinkerer brought up, you have 0 intentions of ever selling your home?
For the forseeable future no
ok well if you tuck light switches in a cupboard now and lets say 30+ years later you do want to sell your home, you are going to either risk taking a huge cut on it's worth or have to dish a huge chunk to fix the issue
but this solution still leaves the option of easily installing switches if I want to
but all located ina cupboard?
unless all these switches are for lights in the same room like a theater
Let him who lives in a thin concrete wall house cast the first stone 😂🤦♂️
well obviously we don't see exactly what your situation is but if you doing anything other than placing light switch boxes in where "normal" light switches would be, all you are doing is sticking your foot out to be shot down the road
Sadly I can't send pictures
don't need pictures as long as you understand what we are trying to say
just trying to save you in the long run
I have legrand decorative raceways going all along the edges of the rooms, so I can easily place outlets wherever I want
the wiring is in place so all I need is a bit of cabling and a standard raceway to install switches wherever I want innthe future
I get what you guys are saying
the other thing most people over look is the toll time has on all of us. bending over and doing all kinds of stuff is easily and not a hassle when you are younger but at some point when we age, that just becomes a nightmare and for some not even a possibility lol
Oh yeah, sometimes you don't want to tinker with anything. We're still doing renovations and Ive been using the smart lights without wired switches, but physical wireless switches in each room for a month now and it was good.
everything breaks at some point tho
Even if there's an outage or something it works right afterwards. I just wanted to experiment and upgrade to zigbee2mqtt but the connecting bit is a pain so far
I really don't think it's as ludicrous to not have wired switches to each light as you make it out to be.
I use lutron switches that has those canopy modules that go in the ceiling fan. i had had to replace two of them so far in the past 15 years and although they were easier then to deal with, now it's a major headache. thankfully the newer models of the same switches don't use those canopys so I don't have to drop the cieling fan ever again
it's just thje point, we get old, crap breaks and changes
so you always have to plan for that
If zigbee dies I could just replace all the bulbs / panel and switch to the new standard no?
All in all, I can install switches if I want to later easily and without much cost. It'd be just kind if ugly.
But I do get what you're saying. I just felt like I was made fun of for no reason in the previous conversation.
Well back to your question
You can use the IKEA remotes to reset bulbs
You just have to hold the remote a few inches/cm away
Cool, because you connect them to the ikea gateway in a similar way
I just haven't made the connection that it's the same reset probably.
Yes, its a ZLL touchlink reset. Built into the protocol. Works for Hue stuff too
to those who had been dealing with the headaches of replacing and dealing with broken smart home stuff people who plan around smart home with no way to revert back easily kind of makes these guys
hindsight is always so clear you know hehe
386... Someone is WRONG on the internet?
I get it, still didn't feel good. It's also reversible in multiple ways easily if it comes to that, just kind of ugly.
as long as it's reversible in the sense it doesn't cost you an arm and leg later your good lol
If I want to sell I'll have much more of a problem with the pipes filled with water installed in the ceiling drywall for heating and cooling everything
well in some cases lighting a match and walking away seems the most logical answer lol
Im going a bit overboard for sure, but it's fine. I've had the same heat pump based cooling in a rented house before and it's an awesome feeling.
Hi all.
My icasa remote triggers all phillips devices. Is there a workaround?
Check your groups?
They’re not in the same group, the buttons weren’t even programmed
When I connect the remote to conbee, without programming any automation, it triggers all my lights
Maybe the ecodim/icasa switch send a zigbee command that turns them all on?
like to a group?
How much expected battery life for Aqura zigbee motion detector & Aqura zigbee door detector. as in my home those are running since last year. & homeassistant graphic battery detector still showing them 90% + battery life. so i am thinking battery graph shown is not reliable. as many of motion detector in my home triggered 100 times a day so realistically battery consumption should be more then representing.
Going on two to three years here, never changed a battery
battery reporting is not going to be too precise though
just run them till they die and don't worry about it
thanks
Just setup ZHA with a CC2652RB-based USB-stick and paired two Tradfri bulbs as well as an Eurotronic Spirit ZigBee thermostat, worked out pretty well :)
yup, that one took a bit longer to pair (it's one of the quirk devices in zha so that might be related) but it worked
now I have to move the stick to its final machine and re-pair the remaining tradfri lamps
do someone know if i can connect aqara opple 6 switch with zha and zbbridge?
Hey, what's the reason I can't add some devices to zigbee2mgtt? I can add 5-6 trådfri bulbs, but not able to add the rest of my bulbs with the exact same model. Zigbee2mgtt says unsupported
https://github.com/EUROTRONIC-Technology/Spirit-ZigBee/releases There are even OTAs for the thermostat
IKEA stuff is just really bad at pairing. Keep trying.
Try and try and try? First time I setup my devices it went directly at first try 😂
It took me around 30 attempts to get my IKEA repeater working 🤷♂️
Now that it's on the network, it's reliable... getting it onto the network was infuriating.
What the f*ck 😂😂
On/off six times?
I guess thats what I need to do. What's funny is as soon as I press the physical button to turn lamp on, it states green in zigbee2mgtt (interview bla bla) but won't appear anyway
Yeah, that seems to be an older firmware revision though since the latest one causes trouble for some people
The only odd thing I saw that the thermostat switched itself on back again after its window-open detection but did not restore the correct temperature. Will have to check if it does that every time or if it was just an initial hickup.
Alright, I was able to copy EUI64 from the husbzb to a zbbridge. How do I now migrate the ZHA- do I have to remove it from integrations and then readd it? Will that lost my devices?
It's me, batman.
You can remove the integration and add it back but I believe that deletes all of your automations with device triggers
Or you can backup and edit .storage/core.config_entries
I don’t have a good mental model of how my zigbee devices communicate. Most are battery, and I have powered repeaters. How do the battery devices work out which repeater to use? Do the repeaters constantly announce themselves? Do the battery devices address their transmissions to the repeaters via an ID? What should I go read? 🙂
You want the technical stuff? https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/4127535
Was hoping more for something aimed and people (like me) using zigbee, rather than reading the actual spec. I don’t plan to build a device
I swapped out some repeaters, some devices work, others took a while. I don’t really understand why or how to troubleshoot (as an example of why I’m interested)
If you're an end user, you only need to know that it's a self-healing mesh, not how it heals.
Not quite true I’d say 🙂 I’m replacing flaky repeaters with others that appear to have shorter range. I appear to need to re-pair the battery devices. Some work, some don’t and I’m at a loss to understand why one in particular won’t, etc
Not quite enough range = move them closer or put another one in the middle.
Yep, and in this case there is another very close to that device, which didn’t get changed out. That repeater appears just fine, but the device does not
Controller -> ewelink -> ikea repeater -> aqara door sensor (as an example). From time to time my aqara environmental sensors just drop off the network too
Aqara don't comply with the specification 100%, so this is a case where understanding the spec isn't going to help you either.
They basically stay paired to whatever they were initially paired to.
Ah. Same process I used to reset the others just isn’t working on this one device (which is also near the ikea repeater .. maybe I should ditch it)
With the Aqara stuff, just pair it where you'll use it. Don't try to fool it into pairing to something different.
Battery powered devices transmit a beacon when they want to connect
The routers respond and the device can choose which one to connect and server as their parent -- spec dictates RSSI/LQI for choosing parent, but varies in reality
Thanks @amber gull , I’ll try when I get home. To close the thread we had on Reddit- something was up on my device. Booted up a fresh raspberry pi, and it worked right away!
@amber gull Got it working! Edited .storage/core.config_entries Only thing that's not there is the port speed (but everything works...so not sure how important that is).
Thanks for all your help on this migration journey!
sigh.... after doing some network rebuilding, some of my zha devices are offline. i've tried power cycling the bulbs. not sure if i should wipe and rediscover or....
my hue remote > zha sonoff bridge is showing current connection and battery numbers so the integration and bridge appear to be working correctly
@subtle eagle what devices? have you tried restarting ha?
erm.. probably the wrong spot, but, I just got a conbee2 stick and I'm trying to run deconz in docker and the gateway (conbee stick) isn't showing up in Phoscon. I've passed the container the /dev/serial/by-id/ of the conbee2 stick, but... any ideas why it doesn't show?
oh god.... my ubiquiti dream machine is doing the thing again where there there's some sort of client isolation happening.
it will work fine after a reboot. sigh.... maybe a cron reboot daily until their shit is sorted out
nvm. switched to using /dev/ttyACM0 and it picked it up instantly. 🤷♂️
Mapping /dev/serial/by-id/... to /dev/ttyACM0 should work fine, but I'd be careful mapping /dev/ttyACM0 to /dev/ttyACM0.
that's how it's mapped. when I passed the id in my docker-compose.yaml it didn't pick it up but using /dev/ttyACM0 did. It's odd that I can't connect to it by ID through docker, because I'd rather do that in case the ports get moved around at some later point
or maybe I just said I'm doing what you said I shouldn't do....
The host is the one that will be creating the /dev/ttyACM0 device so if it decides to reorder them due to hardware reconfiguration, the container won't be passed the correct device
right
But if you don't care enough to investigate the issue and will live with the fact that swapping the order of USB ports will potentially break things then I won't blame you
I'm just happy it works. I can get it passed properly eventually. What strikes me as odd is that my zwave usb stick is passed to HA in docker via ID and it works fine, but for some reason this didn't...
Is EmberZNet 6.8.2 recommended for Elelabs? Or should I stick with 6.7.8?
I believe 6.7.8 has some fixes that have not made it into 6.8.2.
But I haven't personally tested either extensively
has anyone been able to install conbee 2 on server 2012 r2
Is it possible to restart a z2m device through HA? It no longer reacts to motion
by z2m device in your statement you mean the motion sensor or the co-ordinator?
yea its a aqara motion sensor
zigbee
its connected to home assistant through Zigbee2mqtt
does z2m logs show any action when the motion is triggered or any error logs? You may also double check whether the motion sensor has really lost the connection to co-ordinator by clicking on "map" on the Z2M UI. If you get a red pop-up for that device than it is no longer found / paired. Click on "Permit_join" and re-pair your motion sensor. Remember to switch off the Permit Join after motion sensor is re-paired
my experience with the aqara motions sensors is that they sometimes stop responding, so yeah repairing is the solution
what do you mean by UI? does z2m has a ui? or you mean a network map that you can add to HA?
yes - its been there from 1.15 https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/frontend.html
ah Tinkerer beat me to it 🙂
I've had no issues with my Aqara motion sensor stopping responding since I ensured a better connection to the mesh
Even before it was fine for ... over a year
I have 2 repeaters (tradfri) on the 1st and 2nd floor, and multiple powered sockets at the ground floor, so that should cover all my floors, and my motion sensor that is 1 m away from the repeater still looses connection. Anyway, have to look at frontend now 😄
yep - check the map and the LQI
Hi, I have zigbee Zemismart 4 inch downlight with driver integrated (not on the cable). Turing it on/off 5 times, but I can't make it pair (it was working fine first time, but after reinstall I've lost connection). When I open it, I see there is fnb5616 zigbee chip. As there is no reset button, any chance I can make it pair manually, or reset with joining some pins? 😄
not sure on the Zemismart - put the Z2m in the debug mode and try pairing again - check the logs, does the device announce?
Ok thanks @south dune . @near echo i will check that when i go home
@near echo no, there is no announce. I think Zemismart light won't even switch to pairing mode, it should blink slowly, but it doesn't.
Is there any message triggered when you either switch off and on (Make sure you have the Permit Join enabled)? If not, then I dunno about the fnb5616 unless you know which pins are for reset, you might just damage the chip
Yop, I have joining enabled, there are no messages. I am also afraid that I could damage the chip, but if I can't pair it, it is useless for me 😄
Did anyone had any succes with Ledvance AC10691 smartplugs and Homeassistant (Z2m or zha) ? I can't get them discovered. They work fine on my conbee.
well I can't see any datasheet for the chip. @swift fable Do you know how to sniff the zigbee packets and port over wireshark?
I have no errors ( after re-pairing a few powered nodes) but the network looks rough. https://i.imgur.com/jPPnAx0.png
also I have a few on 0 lqi
which co-ordinator?
does it take time to stabilize? and why are some routes not used that give better lqi? for instance esspresso is connecting to the coordinator, and not to a better connection
CC2531
with or without external Antenna? Generally CC2531 is not great device, but without antenna is even worse. Depending upon where you stay you might want to order a better co-ordinator - see Z2m page for the supported adapters
nods
but doesn't it matter that there are other powered devices? or is there still a limit because of the coordinator?
well co-ordinator is still a deciding factor in Zigbee. It is thread technology where 1 border router does not matter
I've ordered a recommended coordinator, we'll see once it arives.
I've had it with vanishing motion sensors and clicking switches several times before lights come on. not a good technology acceptance factor.
hopefully that changes with better co-ord
yes I hope so too, otherwise it's €45 down the drain 😄
yeah - really need cheap and good co-ord. There are great & cheap zigbee chips from Nordic - like nrf52840 dongle, but nobody (except me) seems to be working on that to make it compatible / speak to Z2M-herdsmen
I still have both a z2m and hue bridge, because I don't trust the z2m enough yet. if all fails I can google assistant -> hue directly in case any z2m / HA components fails.
if z2m gets better with the new coord, I might migrate the lamps too
also making the mesh much stronger, because I almost exclusively use hue or compatble lamps
it should definitely, there are lot of people in this forum using it with 100+ devices without issues
There are cheap and good coordinators. Slaesh and zzh! are great.
I ordered slaesh indeed, but with shipping and tax it's not exactly cheap ( not expensive either)
Cheaper than a lot of commercial hubs and way more capable. I'd call that a win.
I don't know what people are expecting when they say we need cheaper options. We already have the cheaper option compared to the consumer shit out there.
You want a $3 stick that works perfectly and handles a mesh of thousands of nodes? 🤔
oh, yeah, I agree, and no lock in
Exactly. People in this channel buying the dev boards are already winners.
And the great work on ZHA and Z2M means we get to enjoy almost any product we want.
what if you got one for free?
Free stuff? Definitely a winner 😄
But I don't get free stuff...
When I replaced my thermostat with a Hive, there was a hub in the box. It's still in the box.
I have two hue hubs, 1 in a box, because lamps with bridge are cheaper then without...
talking about messed up
Hi, I would like to ask, if it's possible to connect zigbee light (especially philips hue) to home assistant to see light status (on/off, brigthness, color temperature), but still be able to controll the light with remote control, which is not connected to home assistant. Thank you!
you can connect the hue bridge to HA yes, and still use the app / remotes configured with the app on the lights
And if I have connected philips hue lights directly to HA (zigbee2mqtt) without hue bridge?
not sure, I think the remotes need to be connected to z2m and configured in HA then
I would think they need to be, indeed; z2m is the coordinator then, and I don't think the Hue hub knows how to talk to HA
Thank you. Thats a pitty :/ Is there any solution if I want to controll zigbee light in case HA does not respond?
@last pawn the gateway pairs to the switches
And the switches pair to bulbs or sockets
I bought a socket with no switch and couldn't pair it
@dawn sequoia Thank you.
zzh! seems like a good idea. Sadly out of stock.
If I understood it correctly, If I have a HA supported zigbee device, I can pair the ikea bulbs directly to HA with no switch?
yes, that works
Are the zigbee dongles being sold as "zigbee sniffer"? Or is that some kind of other device?
The DONGLE can burn its own program as a transceiver module.
Meh, seem like hassle.
slaesh’s CC2652RB stick is also out of stock :0
pity, I just got one of those
I guess if I don't want to hassle with flashing hardware, and zzh! and slaesh is out of stock, then ConBee II for 40 EUR is the way to go?
Sorry to ask again this very basic question. Did I understand it right, the zigbee integration into HA is called ZHA, and all devices on this list are supported? https://zigbee.blakadder.com/zha.html
ZHA is one integration.
It's the one that comes with HA. Another popular choice is Z2M, which is separate but communicates via MQTT.
There's also deCONZ 🤢
nice, I think my ZZH should be coming today 🎉
Is it normal that I can't use the "add device via this device" feature to add an Ikea remote via an Ikea bulb? When I try the Ikea bulb leaves the ZHA network and is directly tied to the remote after.
Recently implemented a conbee2 on my pi4 HASS setup. Curious as to others experience with the conbee2, thoughts anyone? thanks
I'm just guessing here but since ikea bulbs and remotes were made to also work without a gateway maybe their handling of pairing is a bit "odd" and may result in that behavior
Trådfri paring is as painful as eating your own face
don't know, the bulbs here worked as usual
@livid abyss what procedure are you using on the remote to add it? Are you perhaps inadvertently resetting the bulb via the remote? (ZLL touchlink reset)
I think that may be the case, I was pressing the button on the remote 5 times, but I think I should have long-pressed it? I'll try again.
Or rather the other way around, should have pressed 5 times. Seems to work now.
is this the one? seems expensive https://www.newegg.com/p/295-007S-002H6
From Ali it’s more reasonable..
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtrExiv
there's aqara sensor but seems the required hub is discontinued...
not true zigbee since it needs their hub?
which one?
that's a sonoff/ewelink will work with zha I have a few.
I have four Aqara temp sensors connected to a conbee2, seems okay so far. Worth checking the compatibility list to see if conbee2 will work for you. Happy with it so far.
sorry Im new to trying zigbee. What brands/places do you buy bulbs from? Looking for recommendations
I have personally only tried Phillips Hue, which are pricey. Seems like lots of people like IKEA Tradfri, but to pair you need to toggle the light 6 times if I have understood correctly. That wouldn't work for me, so I am happy I spent the money for Hues
I have an aqara light switch, which gets added by zha as a light entity... could anyone comment on what z2m would do with it? would it be a switch or a light?
My Aqara T1 no neutral is added as a switch by z2m
If that helps
What model is your light switch?
Yeah $50 for a bulb gets expensive quick
They aren't that expensive here, but sure they are probably on the expensive side
@simple sentinel it's called lumi.switch.b2laus01 by zha 🤷🏼♀️
How can I "unpair" an ikea controller from the lightbulb it natively paired to control?
amazon says it's WS-USC02
it's also in ZHA it seems, but I've got no automation linking it to the bulb, but it is currently controlling a specific bulb that I don't want it to control
Have a look here: https://zigbee.blakadder.com/vendors.html under Aqara
there are pictures
You will find something like this if you click all the way through: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/QBKG23LM.html
in that example, you see it "Exposes" a switch
I do see that, cool
Might be you find something different if you find your specific device but looks like it's at least two devices with switch entities, counting that one and mine
I literally JUST got a zzh stick in my mailbox, so I'll be setting up z2m today
zzh comes highly recommended, all the best in your endeavors
I'll probably be around with questions, but I'm probably going to have to reread the docs about 500 times too or else I'll get shooed away lol
Everyone here is (relatively) harmless, it's all good 😉
actually, i've already got a question: the z2m docs say i should (use CC26X2R1_*.zip) for the zzh
but the flashing guide for zzh says cc2538-bsl
is this right?
Yes
cc2538-bsl.py does the flashing
CC26X2R1_*.zip contains the .hex firmware that you flash
ok coolsies
Not important, but is it still possible for the next version of Home Assistant to ship with a new zigpy-znp release?
i have pressed the bsl button while plugging in my stick, and verified that i'm in COM6, but getting this with the test bin:
C:\Users\David\Desktop\cc2538-bsl-master>cc2538-bsl.py -p COM6 -evw blink.bin
ERROR: No serial port found.
changed ports, detected as com7, tried that and got same error
i notice that if i plug it in without pressing the button, the led blinks pink, but not if i've been pressing the button
Probably because it's pre-loaded with the blink firmware
When you hold down the button and plug it in you force it into the bootloader
ok so do i need to be pressing the button when i plug it in or not?
Yes
interesting... docs didn't say anything about it being preloaded lol
that i saw anyways
You don't have to flash the blink firmware first, just go with the final one
do i need to erase the flash?
Yeah, that's what -e does
Just replace the blink.bin with the path to the .hex file
C:\Users\David\Desktop\cc2538-bsl-master>cc2538-bsl.py -p COM7 -evw CC26X2R1_20201026.hex
ERROR: No serial port found.
I'm not sure how you're getting this error, that only seems to happen when you don't supply a port number and it fails to find one automatically
Can you try this on a non-windows platform?
should i try without giving one?
not easily, i'll need to set up a new device for it
or maybe boot a linux live disc
Are you going to be running Z2M on Windows then?
no, i'll be running it in a docker container on my n2
but i can't run python on that
i updated drivers, lets see
nope, same error
Let me try it on Windows
make sure you're holding the button for a few seconds after it is plugged in before you release; not just instantly releasing it
I use windows fine if it matters
unplugged, plugged to yet another port (COM8 this time, according to device manager), and held for about ten seconds
still get same error with -p COM8
and COM6

Works for me
Did you copy/paste -p or did you type it in?
neat... i typed the whole command
Well it looks like your -p COM* is not being recognized at all
Are you running this through powershell or cmd?
you shouldn't have to
maybe try using the python command rather than relying on the header
probably doesn't matter
I have a fresh zzh from the latest batch I can try
Yeah, py -3 -m pip install pyserial intelhex and py -3 cc2538-bsl.py -p COM8 work fine for me
Under "Ports" in Device Manager, you should see CH340 (COM*)
i ran these commands exactly
i think it flashed blink
lol
If you ran exactly those commands then it did nothing
oh cool
it just was like "sup" to the bootloader
I think it kicks you back out of the bootloader though so you'll have to unplug it and do it again
it does. it will start blinking if the program is running
if the program is running, it isn't in bl

oh i need -evw
Ya gotta add the -evw CC26X2R1_20201026.hex part lol
woooo
I am going to flash some router firmware on my extras rather than letting them sit
so i am done with setting this up now? need to move on to running z2m?
hmm, for most things i run an aarch64 docker container, they provide an arm64, will that work?
I think they're the same thing?
ok
Z2M should be cross platform
I thought there was firmware for zzh as repeater only but maybe I am blind or confused 😛
It may not have been released yet
probably there, lol
yerp
thanks
oh, heck. these new zzh's have a foldable antennae
and... Error while starting zigbee-herdsman 🤦♂️
prob something in my config
if my device is at /dev/ttyUSB0, should i have this? - /dev/ttyUSB0:/dev/ttyACM0
or should the second one also be ttyUSB0?
I wonder if the new firmware is in the latest dev of z2m
not in the one from last week 😛
i'm seeing this in docker logs 🤔
Zigbee2MQTT:error 2021-01-30 12:26:17: Error: Error while opening serialport 'Error: Error: No such file or directory, cannot open /dev/ttyUBS0'
it says /dev/ttyUBS0
expose it as that then
but in my docker-compose i definitely have
devices:
- /dev/ttyUSB0:/dev/ttyACM0
it's looking for UBS instead of USB lol
look at the config for z2m
aha lol
--device
I'd also suggest using the ID instead of the port number on the host: ```YAML
devices:
- /dev/serial/by-id/usb-1a86_USB2.0-Serial-if00-port0:/dev/ttyACM0
ah yeah alright
yay, the latest z2m has support for it
does the older zzh have a hole for the button? I don't remember it having one but maybe it did
I think people were complaining that there was no hole
Zigbee2MQTT:error 2021-01-30 12:35:39: Error: Failed to connect to the adapter (Error: SRSP - SYS - ping after 6000ms)
i'm gonna pastebin my configs
well they have holes now, woo
I want to try to put a sensor in my mailbox again now that I have a fat dicked router for it
cold and rainy right now though
actually i found it i think
will it log any success, or just stop at "starting zigbee-herdsman"?
actually i didn't get it anyways
Has anyone had any luck with the CC2531 and Ikea Tradfri Dimmer Switch on ZHA? It works for a few hours after connecting, but stops working shortly after. All other devices continue to function properly
Is there a real way to re-pair a device or only delete it and pair again manually?
@gloomy pivot
If things are starting to move on your end it might not matter but this is my device section in docker-compose:
devices:
- /dev/ttyUSB0
And that works great
My stick is from Slaesh, but it's suppose to be more or less the same thing
lol looks simple
i have now been able to get up and going, and have now paired two devices... but they react very slowly if at all 🤔
for example, this one: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/WS-USC02.html
the switch is physically on, but MQTT explorer shows its state as OFF
it has 0 lqi 🤔
yeah to both afaik
i screwed the antenna that came in the box, onto the stick, "finger tight"
as tight as i can without risk lol
What's the other device?
Keep in mind that your aqara switch probably isn't working as a repeater, on account of it not having neutral
its like the devices aren't communicating back to z2m
the other device i have paired right now is https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/WS-USC01.html
none of the three entities seem to be updating at all, in HA or MQTT explorer
No sure-fire solutions from me. Sounds like powering down, detaching and reattaching the antenna is a good Hail Mary-pass, if nothing else comes to mind
does lqi go from 0-100?
thank you all so much for your help! i've now gotten all my devices back into the system, and working as they were 👍
also getting some ota updates so that should be the rest of my day lmao
if an ota appears stalled, is it safe to publish and start it again?
15min ago my ota said 6.55% with +-31min remaining... but hasn't changed since
the device still shows 'updating' as well
this is a sengled bulb, mains powered
over 30min ago now
@gloomy pivot Yes, it's safe
OTA file write doesn't happen till the end, post verify -- so you can interrupt it almost any time without consequences
Well the definition of the cheaper differs across regions. My definition of the cheaper would be around $10 - see nrf52840 dongle (but not yet Z2m capable). Also the Zigbee chips, including CC2652 and CC1352p itself are cheaper just that except slaesh and other no many are doing the custom PCB.
hey all, i just installed a aqara wall switch (us w/ neutral) but im struggling to connect it to my conbee ii via deconz
any tips on this? cant really move the conbee close to it and obviously cant move the wall switch. is it worth setting up a signal repeater nearby to ensure it gets signal?
fwiw I just switched from zha to z2m today, and was very pleased with how well setup went once I had z2m running properly
"Supported adapters | zigbee2mqtt.io" https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/supported_adapters.html
conbee ii is listed there 🤷🏼♀️
I haven't used deconz OR a conbee, so I can't speak to those specifically
I've switched back to 6.7.8. with 6.8.2 have some tuya remote randomly discharging the battery in one night. Probably after writing this it's going to happen again
I did accidentally bind my auroras to the wrong rooms though lmao
actually bound the one in my bedroom to both mine and my daughter's bedroom lights 😅 imagine her surprise when I turn my light on before bed and she's been asleep for hours lmao
in fact... just to be clear that I'm doing it right
when I publish to the "bind" endpoint, I went "from" the knob "to" the bulb
is it the same "direction" when I'm unbinding?
so the reason i couldnt connect it was it got configured automatically as a light which seems to be common in deconz. now the problem is the light wont send its status if its manually activated
it will accept remote on/off commands tho
@gloomy pivot what device do you use for z2m? im getting tempted to go that direction as it just makes more sense
I just got a ZZH today
anyone have experience moving from deconz to z2m via conbee? im tempted to pick up a TI one since ZZH seems out of stock plus im in the US
ah nice, ya those look great, wish it was cheaper to get in US
If you don't care about unorthodox sizes the cc1352p2 is great@dusky hill
Shipped from Texas to Norway in three days
Directly from ti
is that the big dev board? ya not super concerned as it can easily go in my server closet
given im in California, that speed sounds like it could work pretty well
im trying z2m on the conbee to try it first
interested to see how it works
are there any guides on how to set up everything? I have the mqtt broker on my home assistant already but am a noob on mqtt
Then spin up the zigbee2mqtt container, pass the device through and have fun
I started out yaml only, no idea if the new experimental webgui supports configuration of mqtt, or only of devices
But the zigbee2mqtt docs are quite good
I run zigbee2mqtt decoupled, on a raspberry pi 🤢 🤢 🤢 🤢
Everything else runs in my garage
im running it on unraid, looks like the docker got included there. trying to figure out the server vs broker part of mqtt
Well, just connect ha to the mqtt broker
And Zigbee2mqtt to the same broker
And enable auto discovery in mqtt in ha
And on Zigbee2mqtt
Voila
ya im strugglnig at getting z2m to connect to it atm
ill figure it out tomorrow. thanks for the help. hopefulyl i can figure this out soon and then get confidence that my setup works with it
It is easy peasy, just share what you are doing and someone can help
Can someone help me understand zha groups and clusters? I have about ~50 zigbee devices, using nortek husbz1 - am I adding things wrong by just doing regular zha permit? should I be adding them via other devices (routers) instead? I'm a bit confused as to how to properly plan this deployment, and since this is the 4th time I am resetting EVERYTHING (50-60 zigbee and ~30 z-wave devices) I'd really like to get it right...
No idea how zha works, but for zigbee2mqtt I just allow join, I have, 85+ devices
can you help me understand that better?
zb2mqtt, specifically? how does that process look like for configuring an automation, etc. my mqtt knowledge is minor - i did have a few raspberry pi's that were sending system stats through to mqtt into HA but that is as deep as my mqtt knowledge goes
They appear as devices in HA, and have good documentation, no idea about that stick though, I've only used TI devices
Appears to not be supported
I have a conbee II as well
Experimental and no ZigBee 3.0 in that one
but nothing else is in stock? lol
Eh, I'll always recommend the cc1352p2 as stated above, unorthodox size but great
Please I need anyone that can assist by giving a 30min call on some things thanks
Since HA doesnt support two ZHA integrations.. i can use both deconz and ZHA at the same time? I wanna split my garage and hobby rooms from the house. The range with my current setup is a bit so-so.
have all my devices in zigbee2mqtt 1 device is acting up , can i add that device on an other platform like ZHA ?
Hi all, I'm having a zigbee challenge: running latest HASS.io and zigbee2mqtt. all operating fine but I can't re-add some devices. eg a Lidle bulb. When I pop it into pairing mode, I see "device left" messages in UI but the device doesn't get added.
@tranquil forum that makes no sense, adding all devices to a single mesh will increase range, just add devices between areas to cover gaps
And you could run as many instances of zigbee2mqtt as you wanted, although that also makes no sense
@noble lion are you sure joining is enabled?
@lime locust sure, but that makes no sense in regards to meshing and resilience
Yes definitely joining is enabled. I think I found it there was an entry in share/zigbee2mqtt/devices.yaml for the device though it wasn't in devices. Removed it and about to restart everything
That sounds like add-ons, no idea about that, but I def haven't had that issue here
Hi! Trying to integrate the Lidl (Silvercrest) doorbell into my HA + ConBee II USB dongle. My Lidl powerplugs work just fine, but the doorbell does not generate any events when clicked. Before posting more details... does anyone else own that device, and does it work for you..? (or is it simply not supported in HA?) The device is listed here https://zigbee.blakadder.com/all.html without the HA logo....
Zigbee :bee: - please remember to mention whether you're using zha (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha), deCONZ (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/deconz), zigbee2mqtt (https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io), or even something else.
Looking for devices? See https://zigbee.blakadder.com/ and https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/supported_devices.html.
Im using the sonoff zigbee bridge with tasmota firmware and it doesn't cope with more than 30 units. And second, my garage and hobby rooms are far away from the house. Large property.
That's a you problem though, that platform is fine for a small apartment or tinkering, I would never run that in production
I have no problems reaching 15 meters from my house right now
The ConBee II USB. And all other configurations done in ZHA.
The stick doesn't matter, only the integration 😉
Right, apologies. HA newbee... I did notice that the doorbell is listed here (https://zigbee.blakadder.com/) without the HA logo. Makes me wonder if there is anything I can do or provide, to integrate it in HA?
Most permanently powered zigbee devices will extend range, the limit you state is just the number which can communicate with your coordinator directly. I have exactly the same challenge in my home, thick walls too. Some well placed bulbs and plugs handled it perfectly.

And a not underpowered coordinator will certainly help, if you plan to scale your network
I love Ikea plugs for extending the network - less likely the kids/wife turn them off
@normal escarp posted a code wall, it is moved here --> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/qDspNwGChR/
Yeah, we use bulbs, don't use switches in the house anymore
Main problem is still distance. +50 meters.
With line of sight, probably easily gappable with a dedicated router
And external antenna
Yes, but why bother when adding a new hub is much quicker 😛
New coordinator
And Zigbee2mqtt
No problems having five of those if you want
Although, defeats the purpose somehow, but at that range you should be fine in regard to interference
havent tried Zigbee2mqtt but maybe i should. Seems stable and have more devices supported. But i can still run deconz and zha at the same time? Running deconz stand alone that is.
No idea, I havent run and will never run either, I like to run decoupled
You're able to run ZHA and deCONZ together, or as many Zigbee2MQTT instances as you want
I might look into Zigbee2mqtt 🙂 It looks neat.
Well, Z-Stack died again after just 5 days (#zigbee-archived message). I assume this also happens to Z2M users?
Is there already anything known that could be done to mitigate this? Does TI know of this issue? Are only certain versions affected perhaps?
Is there a bug report I can follow maybe (GitHub or TI bug tracker)?
There's a few - each generation has different problems
I've had one lockup with my ZZH on 1.17.0, and put monitoring in place to detect that happening again
I get regular lockups with the CC2531...
Since I’m a ZHA user: does the Z-Stack version (also) make a difference?
The problem is Z-Stack, not Z2M
Yeah, isn’t 1.17.0 referring to a Z2M version though? (Might be wrong though)
The newest fw for the zzh may have a fix
Saw it on the develop branch, I’ll try that out later
I say may because walth and I saw this https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/zigbee-and-thread/f/158/t/973689
Nice, thanks for the link!
Normally it only happens after a few weeks but in the last couple of days I updated like 10 Hue devices and perhaps the traffic was causing the memory leak (thus also causing Z-Stack to crash)?
Shouldn't get my hopes up too high though
@molten linden using z2m, I accidentally paired one of my auroras to two bulbs (unintended), but having trouble getting it unbound from the unintended bulb... do you use z2m?
I thought I had it, as the response was "ok", both clusters showed success, and with no clusters in the "failed" list... even tested and it seemed working correctly for a minute, but then went back to the unintended behavior a few minutes later 🤔
I asked last night as well lol
I use zha, doe binding get wiped out if you reset both the bulb and the Aurora?
I guess that is what I would try 🤷🏼♂️
If it's a battery powered remote, you'd need to keep it awake when you do the unbind action.
Just a thought
If you got it paired initially then I guess your already up to speed on that
Just ordered one to play with. 😆
I'll have to try resetting them later this afternoon, it was already bedtime when I realized they were goofed up... and they really hate when I play with the lights while we're in bed lmao
do both the bulb AND remote need to be reset then?
Does anyone know if it is possible to replace one Conbee II with another Conbee II without re-pairing all devices (ZHA)?
@gloomy pivot I think so to clear out the binding tables in both
anyone know where to start to make a custom MQTT sensor for my aqara cube , which is added in HA but its "side" attribute doesn't change , and noticed its "action_side" does change in zigbee2mqtt logs ?
or could i just pull this state somehow for my automation ?
Share the log entries where you see it change
Please use https://paste.ubuntu.com/ to share code or logs. Please don't use Pastebin, since it can randomly add spaces to the main view.
Got bored today and finally tried zigbee2mqtt out, tried deconz and zha, but quite impressed on tis, I know its been mentioned by many here on its benefits, but I was not ready for it until now
I see many options in the zigbee2mqtt like groups and such, do others here use tings like tis?
side remains 2 , sadly
but action_side does alter
side attribute got added as attribute in cube sensor
You have everything you need without creating sensors:
{"action":"flip90","action_from_side":4,"action_side":2,"action_to_side":2,"angle":59.57,"battery":86,"linkquality":60,"side":2,"voltage":2975}
Just use an MQTT trigger in your automations.
Well that's a question for #automations-archived now that you know the action events are working fine.
That tip works great for philip-lights but IKEA light still can't be updated during a transition. Even if you go into the integration settings and poll the current_level. Is that a bug or just IKEA missing a HW feature?
I have IKEA covers, they work
Any device can work with z2m in theory
yeah but doe they have a lenght of 2 meters +
DIY WiFi is always an option
i see dat aqara do have some curtains
Well, I think Aqara's offering is just an engine that you add to some curtains you source yourself
your mileage may vary

your research would be as good as mine, only have hands-on experience with the IKEAs
i tought of this
@simple sentinel thanks
you do have the bridge from ikea, or z2m?
@simple sentinel THANKS!!!!
@tropic depot I have vague memory that current_level used to work for IKEA lights, but now it doesn't. Is it spec that it should work even during a move_to_level?
z2m here 🙂
Sharing is caring, have a nice day 🙂
Hmmm, I need to consider that B1 myself actually... The whole buying own curtains got complicated in my brain somehow, but looking at it it all looks really straight forward 😛
i just bought 2 b1 motors
and 260 cm and 240 cm rails from alie
very happy now
@simple sentinel
cant wait when it arrives
Those will hopefully be some good times!
Are both Ikea test and production OTA firmwares broken now? I get image is truncated errors with both when trying to update filaments and plug sockets
With zigbee2mqtt
The lidl zigbee motion sensors don't work in the dark 🤦♂️
I swapped mine assuming it was defective and the new one is exactly the same
Does anyone have a sample z2m confit file? What does the mqtt server adress need to look like
There's an example right on the website: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/configuration.html
Cool thanks
hey guys, i get some zigbee plugs for having a longer range (specially on the 2nd floor) . In the visualation at zHa booth plugs are green. But the Endevices wich are on the same stage are connected with the first stage. Is it possible to route the End devices at the 2nd floor to the plug on the same stage?
Please read the topic and the pinned posts before asking basic questions, ryphez. Most of the common stuff already has answers there.
here u see what i mean:

hey! a quick question about ZHA and quirks. For something like https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/blob/dm/wyze-lock/zhaquirks/wyze/lock.py that is already in the repo and has been for a while: do I have to manually copy that somehwere to enable it or will it just be automatically loaded as part of ZHA?
or phrased diferently: does zha in hassio automatically come with all of the existing quirks enabled?
What does setting home-assistant to true mean in z2m. I am running z2m on a separate host but the broker is in HA and I plan to configure most there. I assume it should be true then?
Discovery @dusky hill
Still confused how they’re different
Fixed
i think mine was breaking by not having server start with mqtt://
Z2M just needs to fix their code to deal with the IKEA firmwares
They're only a little broken
Koenkk usually fixes issues within a few days, it'll be fine
I think it's been two months 😆
well the problem was running deconz and z2m at the same time for 1
now getting Not connected to server again
bleh still not working and need to leave. ill reach out later
But Koenkk is aware of this problem already I guess, so no need to open new issue on GitHub?
No clue, I don't keep track of many Z2M issues
What port is needed for z2m, 1883? I think my problem is docker being too isolating
Docker is just as isolating as you make it
The zigbee2mqtt container needs no ports open
I know but I need to figure what I need to open
Except if you use the webgui
I’m trying to have it connect to my mqtt broker
Your broker needs 1883 open for regular mqtt traffic
Hmm okay you’re right
1883->1883 with a default config
Of course, if you're doing internal firewalling on your network, you probably should know this 😛
If you're not, and all systems are internal, you don't need to forward ports
can someone explain to me why, although the distance is much shorter, the terminal uses a different router (plug)?
From the router on floor 1 to floor 2 everything is nice and green. But even if I put the Aqara temperature sensor next to it, it keeps connecting to the floor.
Is there an option to bind the device to the router? Or do I have to pair it directly with the router?
Router = plug
Aqara picks the first device that responds to it so if you want to be 100% sure, use selective joining
Magic 😛
Though I think this may be broken in Z2M right now
With Zigbee 3.0 coordinator and routers, they'll pick a new route as they need to
I've never used selective joining actually, shit just works
Doesn't mean it works as well as it could though
Didn't even know that was an option
could u prefer one?
I used it once
Well, nothing has issues, and all sensors work within 0.1s
Not sure how much better it could be
I can't, as I don't actually speak Zigbee natively
But if they have to keep their radio on for longer than they need to, it's unnecessarily draining their batteries
I've so far replaced one battery in almost 2 years 🤷♂️
Makes a difference with the modded motion sensors
They trigger almost continuously if they're in a common room
(at least I feel that it does, no clue how to measure that)
One of them have been modded since may so far, keeping an eye on it, and it is in the most used room in my house during daytime
It does trigger every 2-3 seconds, because I can't sit still
Mr home office
What’s the trick to get inside aqara motion sensors
Does anyone know how to add cct controls to the Lidl Christmas lights? The intergration through zigbee2mqtt only gives me brightness and rgb
@pine goblet remove the battery, use a flat screwdriver very gently, it's a 3 second job
$29 for zigbee conversion kit for kwikset lock in the US - https://tools.woot.com/offers/kwikset-smart-lock-conversion-kit-bronze-5
The only clip that I can see is at the very bottom, right below the middle of the sensor window
The plastic body has only that thin section so just gently pull it up 1mm until the inner portion pops out and then lever it out
So I got the battery out that part was easy
I was afraid to break the rest of it because I couldn’t see an obvious way to do it
I'm doing it without any tools or much force at all
The bottom spins and pops off
Yes
Yes
The bright white plastic
Without the bottom cover on there's just a 2mm tall strip of it
At the bottom of the window
If you hold the top of the sensor and use your fingernail or something soft to push the bottom of the white lip up, towards the top of the window (where the light sensor is), it should click out of the way about 1mm
Okay I’ll try that
Not too worried about breaking this one as it’s been giving me a lot of problems but I’d still like to try and exchange it.
Worked at first, I hope the humidity from the shower didn’t mess it up
does anyone here have any experience with these tuya switches?
I am looking for new switches that can control some home assistant automations. can these be paired up with a philips hue controller? I think they can, given they are zigbee, but I would like to be sure
If they're confirmed to work, they'll be on one of the lists in the topic/pins.
thanks. is there a better solution for having tactile switches that speak nicely to home assistant? I only have a philips hue base station at the moment and would like not to add much else
If you move over to any open zigbee platform you can in theory run any ZigBee device you want
I can only speak for zigbee2mqtt, but it is quite easy to add support for new devices if it isn't currently supported
i thought any zigbee device should speak to another zigbee hub, no?
Hue or tradfri? Limited in my experience
then HA can easily speak to philips hue so as long as the tactile switch can be recognized by the hue base, it should be fisible
The hubs that is
i have a philips hue hub
with a couple of philips lights and a couple of ikea lights (everything works)
how does it work with no hubs? i'm a bit behind
Good luck getting random no-name stuff working with a branded hub.
Most of us here switched to USB sticks. Check the stuff in the topic.
There are three Zigbee options with Home Assistant (regardless of how you install it). These are:
deCONZ is relatively stable and mature with its own UI (and Discord server). It can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, or natively. Only the ConBee range of sticks and RaspBee GPIO boards are support. Known working devices are documented, and how to request support for a new device is documented too (you can't add unsupported devices yourself).
zha is actively developed as part of Home Assistant Core, using the zigpy stack, the UI also being part of Home Assistant. The EmberZNet based sticks are recommended, but there are other options. There is no list of supported devices, as any standards compliant device should work. Devices that require extra support are listed, and adding unsupported devices is documented (you can't add unsupported devices yourself).
Zigbee2MQTT is very actively developed and can run in an add-on, in a Docker container, and natively. As of 1.15 has a native UI, and it also uses MQTT for control and configuration. It supports mostly TI based sticks, with the Zig-Ah-Zig-Ah! and Slaesh's sticks being recommended. The known working devices are well documented (which usually includes how to pair them so you don't have to find the manual), and adding unsupported devices is also documented.
I will recommend the latter
i run home assistant on a freenas server. are drivers available for those?
Serial devices work fine yes
But the beauty of zigbee2mqtt is running it decoupled
ok then let me rephrase my wishes
i want to add a tactile switch that can control some lights via home assitant. is zigbee the way to go?
There are quite a few yes
as far as I understand, it should be the easiest way
Zigbee :bee: - please remember to mention whether you're using zha (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha), deCONZ (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/deconz), zigbee2mqtt (https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io), or even something else.
Looking for devices? See https://zigbee.blakadder.com/ and https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/supported_devices.html.
👆
cool let me check the links
i keep getting sever connection errors on my zigbee2mqtt setup. i can paste my config, but my setup is z2m in docket on unraid -> VM hosting Home Assistant w/ MQTT broker
I've confirmed the MQTT broker works via sonoff tasmota flashed plugs working, but cant get z2m to connect
seems like that tuya switch is in the list, so as long as it connects to the philips hue it should be feasible
it gets thru setup and last part of logs is
"[32mZigbee2MQTT:info [39m 2021-01-31 13:48:35: Connecting to MQTT server at mqtt://192.168.1.191:1883
[31mZigbee2MQTT:error[39m 2021-01-31 13:48:45: Not connected to MQTT server!"
Then you'll want to check the logs on the broker...
1612129798: New connection from 192.168.1.69 on port 1883.
1612129798: Socket error on client <unknown>, disconnecting.
Sounds like you got the credentials wrong or chose the wrong protocol.
im leaning towards credentials being incorrect. ill ook there
yep, blindly copied a hashed password thinking i got fancy with it
bingo, thx mono
now that its connecting, whats the preferred approach to add devices? i need to move them from deconz to z2m.
You have to un-pair them from deCONZ (or just reset them) and then pair them to Z2M
(well, you're un-pairing them from the old stick, and pairing them to the new one)
got it, reset isnt hard
will z2m just magically get them to join?
i was used to deconz having to turnoon listening. i have the config set for "permit_join: true"
Permit join is okay while you're getting set up but you should set it to false most of the time.
You can always temporarily set it to true (via an MQTT message) when you need to pair things in the future.
makes sense
ooo how can i add that?
it is shorter yet hard for me to grasp still at this point 😛
Don't worry, soon you'll try to read all the HA docs, and then fall asleep for 100 years
haha
while im setting up devices, is there some part worth writing down somewhere?
i noticed most hard code their configs. is that autogenerated and added?
hmm got 1st pair to work, now getting some exceptions :/
(node:17) UnhandledPromiseRejectionWarning: Error: Error while opening serialport 'Error: Error: No such device or address, cannot open /dev/serial/by-id/usb-dresden_elektronik_ingenieurtechnik_GmbH_ConBee_II_
You're not trying to use the same stick in deCONZ and Z2M at the same time are you?
nope, deconz is turned off atm

seems like its just noise
regardless, im more just trying this out to ensure that it works before buying a TI board instead
the conbee itnegration seems less suppoerted
despite the initial hurdles z2m > deconz
makes so much more sense with all the signals
Z2M and ZHA are definitely more popular. Not many deCONZ fans around now.
seems liek plenty stil lexist from my readings as it being a popualr entry, but i had struggled with my 4th device (light switch) not reporting its current status
glad z2m fixed that concern
Z2M ota updates are great too
guess now its time to go buy the TI board and return the conbee
which of the TI boards is better? LAUNCHXL-CC1352P-2?
Yeah, or one of the 2652 sticks
ya the sticks look nice, but harder to get in US
Another option coming soon designed and assembled by me in the US https://imgur.com/a/In4MNsN
Ooo, i'm intrigued. any eta planned?
I'm mainly waiting on some components - hoping in the next 10-20 days.
ok got a question about z2m: I've already added all my devices and got them into HA with mqtt discovery (along with renaming the devices, which renamed the entities in turn). if I change the names of these devices IN z2m, will I need to set them up again in HA?
I'm guessing they'll get added as new devices
but just got them all working again and don't wanna go into it blind
You can change the name of them in the Z2M addon, and it automatically changes the name in HA!
z2m/HA running in a docker matter? not z2m addon
just make sure to select the thing in the addon that says change name in Home Assistant
uhhhhhhhh
yea i dont know SHEIT about docker, man
i'm sorry better to ask in the morning when the true o.g.'s are in here
lol no worries
prob I'll just do it
my bigger concern is that I've already changed the names in HA
@gloomy pivot I did all my renaming in z2m, that way they will always appear with their correct name in ha
Hi, I'm getting this Errors for Zigbee:

Have anyone an Idea for this?
Looks like it can't talk to the stick, did you map it with a non persistent path?
Yes. The Stick work like a charme for a Week or two. But today I performed a restart, and now it wont work
Installed the Zigbee addon from Integrations. Followed the steps. Set it up. Use it. Now it brokes 😅
The path to the stick matters
Odds are you used something like /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyACM0
You should have used the long /dev/serial/by-id/blah_blah_blah path
Yes thats what I have don. After the install, I gave in the requestet field this string '/dev/serial/by-id/usb-dresden_elektronik_ingenieurtechnik_GmbH_ConBee_II_DE2250745-if00' (looked up under Supervisor/system/host/hardware)
Does it matter, that I have used previus the add on "deCONZ". But it is not stable, so I deinstalled it and use now Zigbee integration?
That shouldn't matter
Mhm. Its strange. I have multiple times restarte since I use the integration. But this time I restarte (with Host) it wont work
Check that deCONZ isn't running
How can I check it? I have deinstalled it
No idea, don't use any of this Supervised stuff. I'm guessing there's a menu for add-ons
Yes, in this menu, I can deinstall it. Thats what I do. Now its gone 🤷♂️
So I have found the Error. Only thing I can say is WTF Home Assistant?
The deinstalled Add-On deCONZ was reinstalled? Sure thing they cant run together. But why? I have deinstalled it and it was away after a reboot and never come back till today?
I too don't run supervised because I enjoy knowing what my systems do
but if it keeps reinstalling #330990055533576204 can probably help you, or #add-ons-archived it would explain why if you have two things trying to talk to the stick at once
Yeah, I never do this s**t with supervisor again...
migration to #449717345808547842 is easy if you are willing to invest a few hours to figure out how stuff works
Is it possible to only update one specific device via ZHA?
I have the issue that all images are with image_id=0 and manufacturer_id=0. They also "ask" for an OTA upgrade every 3 minutes.
(I guess I could modify zippy code temporarily?
Hi all, is this the right place to ask about Sonoff Zigbee Bridge?
I have one and I'm considering flashing it with Zigbee2Tasmota.
I'd like it to replace my IKEA Tradfri and Xiaomi hubs.
I'm in the process of replacing an IKEA hub with the Sonoff. It had some problems where it drains the batteries of Ikea remotes very quickly, hopefully that's solved now. You want this for ZHA or Tasmota?
I'm considering either ZHA or Tasmota at the moment. been doing a lot of reading and not sure what the best is for use with HA.
just my 2 cents, I'd suggest ZHA or zigbee2mqtt
I use ZHA, zigbee->tasmota->HA sounds like a lot of setup work from the manual.
Maybe I misunderstood, I thought you flash Tasmota to the Sonoff Zigbee bridge then flash the Zigbee firmware to it for use as a controller?
I'm not an expert, but as I understand if you use ZHA Tasmota does not do much except forward messages from ZHA to the zigbee chip in the Sonoff. All the management happens in ZHA.
Ok, I found this guide earlier and have been reading through it:
https://www.digiblur.com/2020/07/how-to-use-sonoff-zigbee-bridge-with.html
It seems pretty straightforward to setup ZHA on this.
You can also use Tasmota to actually deal with the zigbee devices, and use mqtt to interact with HA.
Oh, I see.
I'm quite familiar with Tasmota, I've flashed a few sonoffs and a few shelley controllers, and a Sonoff RF controller... but this Sonoff Zigbee controller seems a bit more complicated.
So what would be the advantage of using the Tasmota method?
No idea, I guess if you don't use HA?
Over the ZHA method I mean.
Ok, well I only use HA and not intending to change that anytime soon.
I was wondering, is there any idea on the maximum number of devices are supported on the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge using ZHA?
I've got probably ~25 zigbee devices, and I'd like to move them all onto this.
No idea, I only have 15 or so.
If you have problems flashing tasmota tie the Z_RST pin to ground, too, that's missing in the manual you linked. May work without, too.
there is any limitation on zigbee gu10 rgb bulbs?
Anyone else having Ikea Repeaters drop off Sonoff Zigbee bridge, when the bridge is restarted?
Hi Batman, it's me
If you restart (pull them out and replug them) the repeaters, do they come back online?
Yes, Walt, if I restart the Ikea Repeaters, they do come back online
However, they do not route prior to be unplugged and replugged in
You could be hitting the infamous IKEA bug
It's a bug that crashes IKEA devices when processing ZDO parent announce frames
No current work around, we are waiting for IKEA to update the firmware on their devices
It'd be a bit rare to have it trigger each time you restart, unless that's really flooding your network with parent announce frames -- how big is your network and what device types do you have?
oh, hey. Walt is on my reddit
66 devices, 115 entities- 8 Jasco Swithces, Sengled bulbs, 6x Osram Lightify strips, Centralite Sensors on windows, few LEDVANCE plugs and Iris Plugs around, too
oh, and the 5 Ikea repeaters spread around the house
@amber gull requests per minute limits, like yeelight have on wifi
i'm asking that, because i will change all my wifi bulbs in my ceiling (13 bulbs) to zigbee ones
Zigbee has a defined rate of 250 kbit/s, best suited for intermittent data transmissions from a sensor or input device
trying to add a wireless switch in zigbee2mqtt(container) but it does not recognise any button presses ? although i think it is paired correctly ? https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/jfzDMnpdnR/
tried resetting and pairing device like 10x
close range(1cm) and medium range (2m) from cc2531 stick makes no difference
and the thing does get added in HA , just not registering anything
If you push the button, what happens
