Is is possible to disable whether or not a mains device is a router?
no
altho iirc that's a maybe eventually with efr32-based coordinators? like i think puddly said in the past you could force a device to have zero children in theory down the line on efr32 chipsets
as far as i know no way to do this with a router, with efr32 coordinator you could tell it to not have any direct end device children, I believe Mattwestb on github has done this.
ooh just the coordinator 😦
Looks like updating the firmware did the trick, thanks for the suggestion!
I go my tubeszb cc2652p7 yesterday it was discovered as a ESPHome do I need to add it as to ESPHome? I think I have it setup as Zigbee2MQTT but can't seem to get it to find a device.
it comes with a little piece of paper with steps to get it working doesnt it?
the esphome part you can use in the future to upgrade the fw
Yes, it doesn't mention adding it to ESPHome or not and the online instructions talk about flashing

z2m config required for an ethernet-based coordinator
you have to already have mosquitto broker addon configured assuming you are using haos
I delete a Hue device off of the Zigbee Home Automation and tried to add it to zigbee2mqtt but doesn't seem to find it
wait what
mosquitto broker is already installed so I skipped that part
socat:

It starts so I am told that it's working
I deleted a Hue device off of the Zigbee Home Automation and the Hue app can find the device but Z2m doesn't
you arent actually pairing them to the hue hub are you?
No, I was just trying to see if deleting the device unpaired it
I went in to Z2M setting and selected Permit Join
Am I missing something for adding a device to Z2M
@molten linden he's having issues pairing devices after successfully setting up z2m with a p7 based PoE coordinator of yours
nope this is all you do
Not sure how long has passed since removing the hue bulb maybe power cycle it if not if it’s BT too use hue app to reset
What is the difference between the settings/main/permint join and the pull down in the top menu with the countdown?
Also if using default z2m channel maybe 11 is congested
It's a light strip with no reset button, I deleted lights out of the Zigbee Home Automation(SONOFF_Zigbee_3.0_USB_Dongle_Plus_V2) does that unpair them for Z2M to discover?
the pulldown you can change to permit a specific device to join from
Like if I had more than one zigbee coordinator?
no, once you start adding hue bulbs they will be able to be chosen to pair other devices from directly
like say you are adding an old aqara door/window sensor, ideally you'd pair it directly to the closest bulb or other repeater because those devices dont always migrate to other/better routes
Like a hub and spoke setup?
for most devices you just add them and let z2m/the coordinator do the rest
(like with all hue stuff)
you do want to pair all mains stuff starting closest to coordinator and move outwards tho
and before you do start joining devices, i would suggest a zigbee energy scan
If you pair it directly to the closest bulb, and that bulb is down does it have any link back to the coordinator?
depends on the end device it should find a new route after so many fails or have backup route(s) iirc. there are just specific bad boy devices such as the (old) aqara door/window sensor that dont follow spec.
are you saying you have zha and hue bridge both running currently?
and also are trying to join devices to z2m a third zigbee device?
I have about 40 mostly outside devices paired to Hue and wanted to play with a few on HA and had them connected to Zigbee Home Automation(SONOFF_Zigbee_3.0_USB) but don't want the USB pass through to my VM/Cluster for maint. reasons
i see
zha, hue bridge, and z2m
well ideally you would just have z2m running to limit interference
I will likely do away with zha
you should 100% do an energy scan with zha turned off
and figure out what channel has the least interference
or download the zha diagnostics file
it will do a channel scan then let you download
I believe I need to keep Hue for the Hue Sync to work
if you want music stuff you dont want to move off the hue bridge
there are workarounds but not ideal
but a lot of us prefer to use all our hue bulbs as repeaters + only have one mesh
right now every device you add to zha or z2m cant use the hue bulbs as a mesh
and vice versa
pretty not ideal
Makes sense
anyways it's definitely sounding like an interference issue at this point
especially if zha and z2m are on the same channels (and hue hub lol)
Hue is on 15, zha 20, and don't see where z2m is
Without going to unifi and looking at each AP is there a way to scan?
bonus points if you are using a mesh wifi system from your ISP
you scan for wifi with a wifi AP and for zigbee with a zigbee coordinator
and you plan out what goes where
No mesh wifi 🤮
i.e. my channel 11 2.4ghz unifi AP is furthest from my zigbee coordinator running zigbee channel 25
if zha chose 20 then it is probably the least congested. i'd completely decommission zha and setup z2m with 20 (before adding any devices because you'll have to rejoin them if you change channel later)
wifi is 11, 153, 37 and 11, 149, and 1, 48, 37 and 6, 40, 37
well i'd download a diagnostic from zha so it actually shows you a zigbee scan (with z2m turned off)
I shutdown zha, can z2m do the scan?
No
let me fire zha back up. And i want to turn off z2m, but powering it off or stopping the z2m service?
Idk the point is to stop its radio so power off sounds best
Once z2m is off do I need to run a scan?
Zha runs a scan after you turn on diagnostics iirc
I use z2m you might have to look it up
Does turn on diagnostics mean enable debugging?
Or just do a Download diagnostics and that scans

20 looks like the winner then
you only use 11/15/20/25 and usually not 11
so set z2m to 20 before trying to add any devices
z2m ui -> settings -> advanced -> zigbee channel
got it, It was on 11
Won't start now, configuration-adapter mismatch
Configuration is not consistent with adapter state/backup!
Channel List: configured=20, adapter=11
Do I need to manually delete /config/zigbee2mqtt/coordinator_backup.json
deleting that seems to have worked
yep
it's a failsafe to keep people from fucking up
So now do I need to join the strips that were on zha to hue and then delete or should z2m read them after I permit join?
if the strips are in pairing mode then they'll join to z2m when permitted if they are in range
you can join to hue and delete if you want
cant hurt
In z2m is there a search serial number like Hue or is that a Hue only thing?
it works for me
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/9290011370B.html there are device pages for each hue device and how you can interact with them with z2m
So z2m is seein those lights or those are joined to z2m already?
they are joined
Z2M can only "see" things paired by Z2M to the coordinator
Hi ! did someone have an idea about my problem ? i can't find anything on internet and searching solution since days 😢
or maybe should i do a fresh clean install and redo everything
did i miss something important ? i just want to learn how i can troubleshoot
I see this too
Although I am using basic ZHA, but it now refuses to start since upgrading
it worked before the core and os update , now it seems like its running but can't connect on the interface
What do you mean by "refuses to start"? Can you upload a debug log?
i have a lot of line like this in mosquito broker log
2023-12-08 17:57:13: New connection from 172.30.32.2:54370 on port 1883.
2023-12-08 17:57:13: Client <unknown> closed its connection.
2023-12-08 17:59:13: New connection from 172.30.32.2:47954 on port 1883.
2023-12-08 17:59:13: Client <unknown> closed its connection.
2023-12-08 18:01:13: New connection from 172.30.32.2:34070 on port 1883.
2023-12-08 18:01:13: Client <unknown> closed its connection.
I fixed this by going in and reconfiguring the radio.
Did you get a startup repair about network settings? Reconfiguring the radio doesn't really do anything different from startup so it's hard to say what your original issue was.
I am not entirely sure what happened. Not sure if the path changed or something, but after reconfiguration it happily came up.
I do have the the debug log, but I am not sure if it is worth spending time on since it is working unless it could help others.
It would
Okay, give me a couple to upload it.
nobody can help me ?
@austere patio - Here you go: https://i.l1k.cc/-QVEY3aBvS7
Thanks. What coordinator are you using? Is it with a VM? Also, did the serial port path change from /dev/serial/by-id/usb-Silicon_Labs_CP2102_USB_to_UART_Bridge_Controller_0001-if00-port0 after you reconfigured?
did you review the logs?
@carmine hamlet of wich addon ? mosquito broker or zigbee2mqtt addon ?
all
I am using one of Tubez coordinators which is USB connected. I eyeballed the path and it seemed okay. This is with ZHA for me.
support starts with looking into this stuff yourself
i've looked in and can't find anythiing wrong ity why its weird, how i can post the logs here ?
@austere patio Looking at the logs, I see a timeout error which makes sense. (I saw the integration load and it would sit there and then fail.)
Please use a code share site to share code or logs, for example:
- https://dpaste.org/ (select YAML for the language, and consider picking a longer expiry)
- http://pastie.org/ (select YAML for the language)
- https://paste.debian.net/ (you guessed it, select YAML as the language)
Please don't use Pastebin, since it can randomly add spaces to the main view. Please also don't share text as images since it makes it harder for people to help you. Remember that others may have colour blindness, impaired vision, etc.
ty !
The timeout error keeps repeating. It must be a path issue. Once I reconfigured it worked which probably forced it to reload the path. I wonder if there was something in the latest release that triggered this.....
Broker logs : https://dpaste.org/3n5Jr
Zigbee2mqtt logs https://dpaste.org/0Wpkt @carmine hamlet
i see that at the end line zigbee2mqtt try to connect to the broker but seems that it can't but i can't find anything in my config file that don't match what it should
sorry if i'm missing something fondamental i try to do troubleshoot myself but there i'm really lost
is that the right address for the broker? Does Z2M have the right credentials?
Hello,
I'm quite new to Home Assistant. I recently bought a Aqara two gang Zigbee "Wireless Remote Switch H1 (Double Rocker)" switch which I would like to add to Home Assistant via the SONOFF ZigBee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus and the Zigbee Home Automation integration. I was able to add everything to Home Assistant really smoothly But when I wanted to configure the switch in the configuration menu, no button press events showed (only battery and identify , see picture). I did some research and found an amazing tip that told me I should use the event listener. This worked, but then I ran into another issue. In the event listener, there is no difference between a press on the first or second button (see picture, one is from first button, other is from second button). Would anyone know how I could solve this issue?
Thanks in advance!
Pictures: https://imgur.com/a/9ybPkMb
it seems like HA can connect to it...
oh you think the adress have changed ?
🤷
but i can't find wich adress my broker is now
what I see is that is looks like HA can connect to it, but something else is continuously failing
so I would look at the credentials
the crédentials ?
i dont have anything when i go in application crédentials
ah you mean password and username ?
sorry i dont know all the terms
on the broker and on zigbee2mqtt, i have exactly the same username and password
i just dont know how to check the server adress to be sure its the one i use
the port is 1883 like its asked on the broker @carmine hamlet
ill try with core-mosquitto instead
aaah it worked !
i dont know why but the adress changed, i had an ip before and now yhould be replaced with https://core-mosquitto:1883
thanks it helped me to find this @carmine hamlet but i dont know why the requiered adress has changed
It should have always been core-mosquitto
weird
it worked with that untill an update
but all my sensor have the name "mqtt sensor"
It opens that port externally by default, so it would have worked if that was the address of your HA instance. If you didn't reserve the IP and it got a different IP when it restarted, it would fail just like this
Has anyone managed to get group binding working on ZHA using the SkyConnect dongle via the Multiprotocol approach? I'm trying to finally get my Hue dimmer switches to work but it's a major pain in the ass - binding seemingly succeeds, the dimmer can issue one or two commands maybe, then it goes into the "orange blinking" mode and refuses to do anything until a reset - or just flashes the red LED without anything else happening....
After a HA restart my tubeszb-cc2652p7-poe-2023 which is setup through Z2M comes up as discovered for ZHA, should that be ignored?
Yes
If I move a Hue Gradient Lightstrip from the Hue Bridge to the Z2M bridge are they fully addressable like Pixelblaze Patterns? https://electromage.com/pixelblaze
Check the Z2M docs for the device
So it says it Exposes Gradient, but reads like it's what Hue provides and not individual led control.
Does anyone here use Aqara H1 switches? I've managed to use zigbee2mqtt to set the switch to decoupled Mode butnnow the LED indicator on the switch is permanently switched on. The switch has an option called "flip indicator light", but toggling that option makes the LED go off permanently.
I want to use the switch in decoupled Mode because I have it hooked up to a Lifx bulb (Single click = toggle, double click = 25% brightness) and I want to set it so that the LED remains off when the bulb is off.
Thanks
How does one do basic trouble shooting on a device that constantly disconnects?
I asked this morning but didn’t get a reply on how to proper “wipe” or in zigbee world “re-pair” a device
I switched radios last week and a new set of devices constantly dropping and they are like 15 feet from the damn skyconnect
So if I delete a device. And then re-add it back with the same name, it assumes the same role as before. Is that considered a full wipe of a device??
I just don’t understand how a device that’s 15 feet from the stupid radio can drop like this. Granted they are the ikea blinds and likely pieces of shit anyway
Is there a primer or guide on how to troubleshoot devices dropping off and going unavailable?
Everyone said “oh u need to upgrade the Nortek, get the sonoff” - I got the sonoff, did a complete redo changing channel and paying attention to wifi channels. Not better. Then it was “the sonoff has problems, get the Sky connect”. Did the migration. Not better.
Does anyone have SkyConnect working with Zigbee2MQTT in Docker? I can't get past this error:
zigbee-herdsman:adapter:ezsp:erro Connection attempt 1 error: Error: Error while opening serialport 'Error: Error: Resource busy, cannot open /dev/ttyUSB0'
The adapter is new and never used. No other processes are using it.
This is really the only reason I'm trying to use Z2M: https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/issues/2793
Please share your docker config and the Z2M config. Did you also pass this to HA? Please also note that that Z2M's support for that stick is experimental. Expect bugs.
@ocean hatch I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
Ideally ZHA devs would add the support so I don't have to try these workarounds. I just know how slow they can be and I don't want to wait weeks or months to be able to use the relays.
Z2M sending firmware updates to a couple of light strips a few feet away from the tubeszb-cc2652p7 still running for 12 hours. What the expected Zigbee device OTA firmware?
you have run into a bug that they've fixed but apparently only pushed to dev at this time
Is that in the Z2M plugin?
we dont have plugins
Sorry Add-on
a z2m addon update will fix it yes
there's a way to clear the update but i dont remember now
Zigbee2MQTT is a Zigbee gateway that uses MQTT to communicate with HA and supports a range of TI chipset based controllers. Our #zigbee-archived channel is a good place to ask about using it with Home Assistant, but they also have their own Discord server.
i'd ask in their discord server^
They seem to actually progress and finish
oh
and it's literally only two devices?
i update 2-3 hue devices viz z2m OTA updates at a time and they take like 15-20min each with the 3 going at once i think? maybe up to 45min with multiple
at this point I only have 2 devices connected to Z2M and started one update was taking a long time so I added a 2nd a few feet from the tubeszb and it was the same
I’m not super familiar with the light strips but their bulbs haven’t given me issues with updates like this
There’s delays with ota for battery stuff tho
They wake up, grab a few packets, go back to sleep, rinse and repeat a bunch
Is the update coming from Hue or from Z2m?
Z2M is updated constantly. I just run my own container based on dev 🙂
We’re talking about ota update files
/me slides rob a coffee ☕️
Was referring to this, but I agree it wasn't clear: #zigbee-archived message
seeing as zha seems to be buggered this last week or so, is there an easy way to move from zha to zigbee2mqtt or is it going to mean everything will need to be created again/edited?
Buggered how?
it keeps initialising/resetting or failing .. there's a post about in near the top of the GitHub discussions.
Looks like three separate issues lumped into one
Are you also running multi-PAN? Or are you using an XBee?
neither
I've been running a sonof ZigBee hub flashed with tasmota for a couple years
not sure what multipan is tbh
updated your issue... lmk if it works
Hello, I'm having issues with my new Frient door/window sensors. They have three sensors: 1) Opening, 2) Binary Input, and 3) Temperature.
The opening sensor stops reporting after the first detection of the door being open.
Here's the status of the binary input sensor
binary_sensor.frient_sensor_dor_stue_apning_2
- Was opened, 5:37:24 PM
binary_sensor.frient_sensor_dor_stue_binary_input_2, - Turned off 6:02:53 PM
- Turned on 5:42:51 PM
- Turned off 5:42:50 PM
I`m using a brand new HA Yellow with the ZHA
if you enable debug logging on an integration (like zha), how do you download them?
@reef inlet you automaticly download it when you stop the debug
ah
thanks. i see now. it appears that enabling debug logging on a specific integration doesnt just enable it for that integration. the debug log seems to contain everything about the whole HA setup
What are all the components I need to get ZHA integration working in HA core?
Also, I read somewhere that zigbee causes some interference with wifi. Since I live in an apartment complex this is a slight concern, so is it bad enough that I should consider zwave?
By my reckoning, it seems like the zigbee2mqtt container should be the first thing I install.
the other way around
above you just asked about zha now z2m. you can only run one to control the coordinator
oh so is zha its own container?
zha is built into home assistant by design and uses websockets
Even HA core?
z2m is not built into home assistant and uses mqtt to communicate with home assistant to control the devices
So I need an MQTT broker?
But do I need an MQTT broker for z2m?
mosquitto is an mqtt broker in case that wasnt clear
lol
it's the preferred option
emqx is a less-popular option
I meant do I need an MQTT broker for ZHA, sorry
For Z2M yes. The M stands for MQTT
no it uses websockets
What are the pros and cons of using ZHA versus z2m?
cries
there's no easy answer and a lot of info online is outdated
z2m has a dedicated ui dashboard and exposes more things in a friendlier-way-to-use in my opinion
zha is easier for onboarding and has come a long way with a lot of creature comforts
like migrating coordinators, automatically scanning and choosing the best zigbee channel
And z2m is able to be integrated into HA?
?
most people will not so nicely point you to the docs lol
there's no lack of use of devices by using one or the other
there might be support for a new device to hit z2m first but it just depends
That's useful though.
I have like 50 tabs open between two computers.
gross
I know.
That's... not a lot
I'm exaggeratting a little.
I don't know anything about smart home automation, so there's a lot to learn.
word
oh
i saw in #hardware-archived you were looking at a tube PoE coordinator
i use the same cc2652p7 based one
Possibly.
if you ended up going with an efr32 based coordinator, zha would be your only option
z2m currently has "experimental support" and suggest not using them at this time
Yeah, the first thing I want to do is use something like this device: https://www.wyze.com/products/wyze-lock?_pos=1&_sid=7e578d428&_ss=r&variant=40925869899938
to have keyless entry to my apartment. That's all I care about at the moment.
Later, I can add things like smart lights and a thermostat.
What's the problem with that device?
wyze
if you go home assistant you buy products that integrate well with it
whether that be zigbee or zwave, or fully local wifi, those are your best options at this time.
there is #matter-archived and #thread-archived but i personally consider them beta at best at this point
i'll be honest no one ever talks about wyze stuff here so i didnt know it was a zigbee device
in general wyze is cheap chinese quality stuff right..
Yeah, I am starting with absolutely no smart home stuff, so HA is my first smart device technically.
as far as locks go, zwave are popular but there are apparently quite a few good zigbee ones
but a lot of people end up finding a lock they want and then going "ok now i'll use zwave" or whatever
I'm also constrained by trying to choose a lock that is apartment friendly.
no idea on that
What have you heard about the august lock?
august as a brand is fully NOT suggested for #zwave-archived
for zigbee i have no idea
A lot of stuff seems to fall under this category, even the more expensive stuff.
https://zigbee.blakadder.com/locks.html i'd probably choose off this list
like what?
If it allows me to use my same physical key so that maintenance still has access to my apartment, then I think this covers that.
i see
Wyze might be a good way to go at least for my apartment. I won't be living here for much longer ideally.
And once I get my own house, I can probably go for any lock I want
What about this for potential zigbee support? https://www.amazon.com/Kwikset-Convert-Smart-Conversion-Amazon/dp/B072KT2VC2/ref=sr_1_6?crid=O57IM3RH5KIT&keywords=zigbee%2Bsmart%2Block%2Bfor%2Bapartments&qid=1702160116&s=hi&sprefix=zigbee%2Bsmart%2Block%2Bfor%2Bapartments%2Ctools%2C82&sr=1-6&th=1
Should I switch to hardware btw?
Yeah. I found this after I sent that:
https://www.kwikset.com/products/detail/kwikset-convert-smart-lock-conversion-kit-with-zigbee-technology?variant=914-zb-convert-11p
ya i think those work fine
The cheap chinese one from wyze still sounds better. Plus it would match everything else in my apartment - except in this case it's cheap mexican construction.
Although, the kwikset one might be more trustworthy
I use kwikset zwave locks
They come with kwikset smartkey where you can rekey them all at home to the same key
I’m sure they sell zigbee ones that do the same
Thanks, it works!
It looks like the interlock attribute is only used in endpoint 1. Endpoint 2 says None when I read it.
The only attribute that has a value in endpoint 2 is decoupled_mode, which is DecoupledMode.ControlRelay in both.
you love to see it
the robots are coming lol
can anyone help me with this
ive got an IKEA STYBAR remote paired to zigbee2mqtt
ive made an automation and it doesn't stop increasing the brightness even when i let go
@simple charm I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
Can I have two skyconnects? One on ZHA and another z2m?
I’m out of options fixing my ZHA issues
And I would like to slowly migrate on same haos instance
I dunno if z2m would even address it but I have to do something
You shouldn't use SkyConnect with Z2M, but you can use it with a 2652-based coordinator. And yes, you could run both in parallel
Did you do troubleshooting with your SkyConnect yet? Interference?
Download the diagnostics file from the ZHA integration and upload it: https://dpaste.org/
Then, send the link here
I will do this
But I’m falling asleep. So tomorrow
I definitely need help
I got all kinds of crazy shit happening since I migrated to sky connect
Worse than sonoff
Both Aqara T2's are hooked up to my roller shades and it works well. Though they don't quite fit in a 3-gang box with two switches and a lot of wire. The middle switch sticks out about half an inch. Future project unlocked.
The SkyConnect is on a USB extension cable, right? Tag me when you provide the diagnostics file tomorrw.
whats the best zigbee coordinator which isnt a usb based one please? (and that ships easily/available to the UK)
currently using sonoff zibgee bridge which is flashed with tasmota.
PoE? Buy a tubes one he will ship internationally
I guess I could. I'd need to check with my WiFi access points that are Poe to see if they pass through power to their 2nd ethernet port
if not are there any other decent ones?
I mean he sells non PoE units
So what is the proper way to reconnect a Zigbee switch for example when it is showing not connected in HA? I just held the button in to put it in pairing mode, then I went to add device in ZHA, it was found, had its original name, I had to tell it an area though, but then made a different entity id… so it is not linked to any of the dashboards or automations anymore. Did I do this wrong. I don’t want to hand to always remanded and delete entities and then lose history (i presume).
That re joined the device to the mesh and obviously the old one with the same name still exists so it can’t have the same entity names as it
Yes I understand why it happened. Is there another way to get the disconnected device to reconnect without doing what I did? It seems as though this process is wrong. Since it is a wall switch I can’t just turn it off and on so to speak since it is mounted in the wall. I’ve tried using the “reconfigure” button and that never seems to do anything. How should I accomplish reconnecting a disconnected device without having to tenant everything and delete etc.?
well it seems like there's some interference issue or some reason it just drops off the mesh
you need to fix that, there is no "reconnecting" to the mesh either it can talk to it or it cant
if it can talk to it, it shows up in home assistant and is usable
you could of course delete the old device first then add a new device back and rename it the same and the entities would be the same
but that isnt solving your issue of why it's dropping off the mesh
This is not an often recurring thing. They are only 7 feet apart through a single dry wall wall. So what is the point of the reconfigure button?
i dont use zha is it not mentioned in the documentation?
my guess is it tries to reconnect a device after changes to the mesh (like a channel change)
without having to remove it and re join it
I can’t say I can find specific info on the reconfigure button thus far, no.
hey everyone.
i got 2 styrbar ikea remotes that have 4 buttons each. however in z2m it only shows 2 buttons.
in automations anyway.... i get the following action on the device: arrow_right_click, arrow_left_click, off and on.
So... sounds like the four buttons are represented as four states of that entity
ah, i see on and off are simply the buttons as well. not a state of the device.
sorry for troubling ^^
is there any way of repurposing a philips hue hub or a smartthings hub to be used as an ethernet zigbee coordinator ? custom fw or any other method?
No
balls. 😦 that one you spoke of doesnt seem to have stock of non-poe version and its like $100 delivered to uk.. plus a poe injector on top 😦
another different one i found doesn't seem to have any stock any more, either
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/adapters/#recommended try this list
yeah looked at that, literally none of the network/hybrid ones are in stock anywhere
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354808096959
anyone used this sort of thing? know if it works with zha/z2m?
The chip in there is "not recommended for new designs" according to SiLabs. It's pretty old and you can't use the latest firmware with it.
Pretty sure somebody also said that that generation has problems with network delays, though I may be thinking of WiFi connected
It's a fragile version of whatever you can make by plugging a USB stick into a Pi and connecting it over Ethernet via ser2net
ah ok, yeah i've just read its a tuya thing anyway. tbh i've not had any issues in the last couple of years with my tasmota flashed sonoff wifi/zigbee bridge, until latest version of HA74 seems to have broken zigbee for me 😦 was the only reason looking at alternatives. (usb ones arent an option unless i go down the convoluted route of using/buying another rpi)
Why isn't USB an option? You're using Hyper-V?
That’s generally considered a terrible option for a coordinator btw
Interface on WLAN after already going across a zigbee mesh is crazytown
usb isnt an option because my server (running on docker) is in a location which is nowhere near any of my zigbee devices
hence me looking at ethernet ones rather than wifi
but at this point it seems to be more of a pipedream with the only people making them being enthusiasts themselves and seemingly finding it hard to get anything manufactured since covid
It’s not a pipe dream you just can’t justify the cost of the tube one plus shipping
true. that is seemingly the only option and yeah i'm struggling to justify £100+ for such thing when i'm merely trying to troubleshoot whatever this issue is with the latest version. Alternatively, I could switch from zha to z2m as from what i'm seeing, zha seems to be pretty flaky (despite it working fine for me til now)
Neither are flaky with a good coordinator and routers
I guess post some logs or start describing your issue
Might just order a SMLIGHT SLZB-06 as it seems to be in stock on aliexpress for about £50. or would SMLIGHT SLZB-06M be the better option?
Hello Guys. I have some issus with Zigbee and Skyconect on my HomeAssistent installation. All my Zigbee devices constantly lose conection to Skyconect and woul't work inspite of beeing in the same room with the server. Simply every device has lost connection. What can I do?
Depends. The EFR32 is not well supported on Z2M
I'm using the skyconnect adapter and the Zigbee Home Automation intergation
Also I'm using two Osram Zigbee Plugs to repeat the signal
Last time I had Osram/Ledvance routers they caused issues. I'd try without them
Okay so one problem is the range and on the otherhand it doesn`t work because the plus are crap?
I looked up all the sensors where conected to the plugs and they lost conection so what can you recomend for zigbee repeatres is there a list of things working nice?
Too many. See pins here for lists
Okay thanks a lot i will tell you if with other devices it will work better
@mellow geode any luck with those TRV PRs (please) ? 🙂
Has anyone found any smoke detectors that work with ZHA? So far I've tried Schneider Wiser and Frient and neither seem to
What would be the expected device type for a valve control? I'm asking because I have this device TS0001 by _TZ3000_iedbgyxt that is a zigbee controlled motor to open and close a valve. This device presents in ZHA one control that when switched on successfully opens the valve, and when switched off closes the valve. The control is however of the type light, i.e. the entity for it is created in the light domain. Is there any type that makes the valve not show up as a light, but as a valve or if no type exists (yet) for a valve (I haven't found any such type yet) as a switch? I don't want my water mains to be closed when I turn off all my lights....
Thanks, I was afraid of that. The deviec is now automatically detected as a light, would it be possible to change this into a switch? As we do have helpers to change a switch into some other types, but there are no helpers to change a light into anything else. Other than the complicated way in that topic you pointed to.
yes, I found that too and I will try it. My question was directed towards changing the ts000x quirk to create a switch control instead of a light control. As for less-savvy users (like me) it is possible to change the type of a switch control -using the "change device type of switch" helper- but there is no such equivalent for changing the type of a light control.
FYI, the zha: device_config: method worked ok. So thank you. If however the ts000x quirk could be adjusted to create a control in the switch domain instead of in the light domain, this issue would probably raise less questions or at least have a more 'commonly used' solution.
anyone know if i need to repair devices from the dongle P to SLZB-06 ? and i'll be running some devices far away from my home, well, 20-30m so i have 2 SLZB-06. the second, do i set it as Router?
Shed currently accesses same network via a wireless wire 60ghz link (microtik device) to the shed's POE switch. Basically just need to run probably 5-10 sensors n switches down there, eg, dust extractor with an automation so off = 10second delay to clear pipes.
Running also some garden sensors. Unsure if router is best or a seperate shed zigbee2mqtt instance is better with a second coordinator. Garden there is next to shed. Prefer to run all in one z2m instance.
Also quick question - downlights/240v devices, do they act as routers? increasing device limit?
hi all... is there a way to use Zigbee and matter at the same time with a SkyConnect?
I'm using zigbee2mqtt right now with zigbee devices, how can I add a matter one?
thanks!
I assume you are asking if zigbee and Matter-over-thread devices can work at the same time via Skyconnect? The answer is a yes.
i'm using some ones from aliexpress which i think are schneider.
edit: actually its not scheider, its heiman -
Heiman ZigBee Smoke Sensor
dumb question: If I move HA to a new computer and just move my zigbee dongle over (SkyConnect) will it work seemlessly or is something going to break.
Should be fine. I've migrated to new machines twice and everything just worked.
Anyone familiar with Frient sensors ?

anyone know if i can hook up my Centralite 3405-L keypad with z2m. worked with ZHA but now im having issues, z2m claims unsupported
Hi. Just reinstalled HA for the 1000000 time this year :-). Z2M devices do not show up in HA 😦 why ?
i can see Z2M in mqtt explorer
ts0504b and after going from zha to z2m I lost control over the white color in ha. The cold and warm white. Tips?
It’s a Tuya rgbw controller
most likely support was added by zha devs to support that and it's not currently supporting that feature with z2m. are there any open issues on it (on github)? what about the z2m product page for that device? do the docs show how to control the color temperature (warm and cold)?
It was. But they are closed
I did sonoff with zha now. Works well. Instead of conbee 2 chat
Zha
Sonoff with z2m did not work at all with my lights
are you specifically talking about a sonoff e dongle with the efr32 chipset?
Sonoff p
you never have it, or at least it was a ilusion. This controler can control only RGB diode or W not both together. So if you read the whole closed issue on z2m you will find out they just don't bother to implement this ilusion but you technically can set the same colors with both. If you set clear white with z2m it will switch the controller to white only mode... Other white temp color of this device is just mix of RGB so you can set your desired value in the color ring.
Hello is there a way how to convert this zigbee2mqtt to ZHA? I'm not rly familiar with how to py work. But if someone have any examples that can help me I try to write something.

Hey @analog perch - I'd like to add PoE to one of the tubeszb-cc2652-eth_usb units. Is it just a matter of swapping out the WT32-ETH01 for an Olimex ESP32-PoE Module? Another PoE splitter has died and trying to decide if I want to spend $20 on a better PoE splitter or $28 on the Olimex
basically
you tagged the wrong tube lol
but yeah it is an olimex esp32
he's talked about adding kits to swap over
@molten linden boop
Depends on model. Anything round won’t be easy I mean can work with DuPont cables but not a clean transfer. Olimex and wt32-eth01 are not 1 for one swaps. @jade falcon
Can someone recommend some good remotes? Ikea Styrbar ones drive me mad with Z2M.
When I used Tradfri hub it was working fine. Now, with sonoff dongle-e, z2m shows that every bulb/router at home is connected with each other, remotes are connected, worst LQI is 235/255 and still there are moments when I press TEN times on Styrbar to turn on light.
And then grab phone from pocket to use HA app.

all good
regarding energy scans, lower number better?
so my issues are 1. when i migrated from sonoff to skyconnect, EVERYTHING still reports and says sonoff, everything
- i got things disconnecting like crazy (mostly my ikea blinds)
i have a SECOND skyconnect, should i migrate again and hope that it changes to skyconnect officially?
I've recently started using HA with Z2M and just paired my new Ikea Tradfri Sensor, can I replicate the default behaviour (only turn on lights when light is below threshold)?
I'm seeing 2 values within the state of this sensor being illuminance_above_threshold and occupancy.
So my understanding would be that I need some sort of clause if illuminance_above_threshold is false and occupancy is true however I am not sure how I can make an automation using these values from the sensor.
does anyone know why my old radio the SONOFF didn't change its name or anything when i went to skyconnect?
Connected via Texas Instruments CC1352/CC2652, Z-Stack 3.30+ (build 20210708)
every device still says this
do i try to migrate again?
i have a second skyconnect
Can’t you just change the device name with the pencil on the device page?
i did
but thats not the point
everything in the system still thinks its the old radio
which makes me think the migration wasnt good
i changed the "name" on INTEGRATION ENTRIES
but every zigbee device still thinks its connecting to the sonoff
i am having so many issues
since this migration
https://ibb.co/tzPn5xK < shows old name on DEVICES
it's not about the "name", im not that OCD, it's about "did the migration work completely"
im having so many issues since and im wondering if this is the issue. im considering using my sonoff and z2m
i can run them in parallel and i can migrate the troublesome devices first
https://ibb.co/Z2Z0LXN < shows new name that i MANUALLY adjusted
Hello. I am new to Home Assistant. I have just migrated from Hue Bridge to Zigbee2MQTT. And I am trying to set the brightness of a hue bulb on startup (to 50%). It was possible in the hue bridge. but does not work on the Zigbee2mqtt. Can anybody help?
If the new radio works instead of the old one, the migration worked.
The name in the UI doesn’t really matter
Did you also change it on the coordinator device?
Or do you have two coordinator entries? One old and one new?
That would only happen if you didn’t overwrite the IEEE on migration. That’ll cause issues
Yeah, that’s just the integration name. It doesn’t matter, but it’s separate from the coordinator device name
Check your device list to see if you have one or two coordinator entries.
one entry
but its manually renamed
i dont care about that
i care about the first image
https://ibb.co/tzPn5xK < shows old name on DEVICES
The name doesn't matter, it's just a minor bug in the frontend
Hi 👋 I have the Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB dongle, HA running on a QNAP TS-251 via Container Station (Stable version). The Zigbee integration is not detected when I plug the USB. When I SSH into the NAS, I can see /dev/ttyACM0, but i don't see the device when I type ll /dev/ttyUSB*. I do have the TTY permission enabled in container settings and typed both commands ( insmod /usr/local/modules/cp210x.ko and insmod /usr/local/modules/usbserial.ko) in the terminal.
Any idea what else can I do to get my NAS to recognize the stick and pass it to the VM where I have HA installed?
According to https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/adapters/?ref=maxime-house#not-recommended , the dongle-e is not recommended, but in beta stage for Z2MQTT, while the P dongle is fully recommended. I use the E dongle with ZHA and it works fine together with Styrbar remotes. Others may chime in with experiences with setups similar to yours, but the Styrbar may not be the cause of the problem.
thx. Will read https://skyconnect.home-assistant.io/migrate-zigbee-zha/ then
I have some zigbee lights with dimming here integrated with z2m. The dimming somehow lags behind exactly one input. Turning the light on and off works fine. But setting the brightness to a value the light always gets set to the previous value it was set on. For example:
Turning the light on with 100%
setting brightness to 50% -> nothing happens
setting brightness to 10% -> the light gets dimmed to 50%
setting brightness to 100% -> the light gets dimmed to 10%
setting brightness to 10% -> the light gets dimmed to 100%
and so on
any idea why this is happening and how I could fix that?
ZHA has a smaller database of devices than Z2M but it is a bit easier in use with more guis etc.You may want to check your other devices to see if they are supported by ZHA. If they are not it is the question whether you want a different coordinator and stick with z2m or not. https://zigbee.blakadder.com/zha.html
i just noticed this in the logs when setting the brightness from 162 to 254:
Debug 2023-12-12 20:44:29Publishing 'set' 'brightness' to 'Wohnzimmer Groß'
Info 2023-12-12 20:44:29MQTT publish: topic 'zigbee2mqtt/Wohnzimmer Groß', payload '{"brightness":162,"last_seen":"2023-12-12T20:44:29+01:00","linkquality":134,"power_on_behavior":null,"state":"ON"}'
Info 2023-12-12 20:44:29MQTT publish: topic 'zigbee2mqtt/Wohnzimmer Groß', payload '{"brightness":254,"last_seen":"2023-12-12T20:44:29+01:00","linkquality":134,"power_on_behavior":null,"state":"ON"}'```
so it seems to be sending the last state and the new state and my light seems to recognize only the last state i think?
im migrating from the skyconnect back to the SONOFF
and it came unplugged so now i have to do it manually
is it the backup.json?
great now i have two entries and one with an old firmware
meanwhile i just flashed them both an hour ago to 20221226
how is this happening
i flashed it again
CC1352P2_CC2652P_launchpad_coordinator_20221226.hex.
Verification finished successfully.
Reset target ...
Reset of target successful.
but then when i add it to HA, it says it has the 2021 firmware!
what am i doing wrong
https://ibb.co/0mh0qND < and why do i have two now?
this is a disaster
is there a way to tell what firmware is on the sonoff before i unplug it from the flasher?
@proven mason I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
can i just delete the coordinators and start over?
im really lost here
"Texas Instruments CC1352/CC2652, Z-Stack 3.30+ (build 20210708)" is not true but then again, when i migrated TO the SKYCONNECT, it didnt change the name either!
so i have no idea what to believe
ZHA config file says "Texas Instruments CC1352/CC2652, Z-Stack 3.30+ (build 20210708)"
so that must be the firmware?
"manufacturer": "Texas Instruments",
"version": "Z-Stack 20221226"
going line by line, i found that it seems to be 20221226, even though EVERY other entry has the old name, old firmware, old address
Anyone able to integrate the IKEA Tradfri Signal Repeater? This is the only IKEA ZigBee device I have and I bought it to expand my network. ZHA (SkyConnect) doesn't see it. Here's my thread --> https://discord.com/channels/330944238910963714/1184114229234630767
I've done some digging in ZHA toolbox and found out how to change some device settings by calling the service to write clusters. How do I go about getting these functions added to the device UI in home assistant?
I've created an issue here but I've got no idea how to progress this further myself: https://github.com/zigpy/zha-device-handlers/issues/2828
i got my skyconnect today and flashed NabuCasa_SkyConnect_EZSP_v7.3.2.0_ncp-uart-hw_115200.hex. it came back up seemingly without hardware flow control. i thought the '-hw' meant hw flow control?
the updater actually hung @ 100% i guess because it went from hw -> sw after reboot
also, the WebSerial update is busted. python stack trace in js console due to 'ssl' library being unvendored? https://paste.ee/p/K68Mm#VThahV88a3__AfA1Rr2KR0u8y50kYbBo
i opened https://github.com/home-assistant/skyconnect.home-assistant.io/issues/92 for the WebSerial flasher issue.
looks like @austere patio is already ontop of the situation. there was another ticket in sl-web-tools repo which i didn't see, but https://github.com/NabuCasa/sl-web-tools/pull/12 addresses it.
still wondering about the seeming lack of hw flow control in the 7.3.2.0-ncp-uart-hw image, if anyone has any insights (was the option unchecked during the build..?)
How are you checking the flow control?
specifying --flow-control hardware and seeing if bellows CLI responds to
bellows -d /dev/serial/by-id/usb-Nabu_Casa_SkyConnect_v1.0_censored-if00-port0 -b 115200 --flow-control hardware info
although now i'm not so sure that i am getting consistent results
i reflashed the non-beta. let me reflash 7.3.2.0
egh, it must've just been unresponsive post flash or something. not seeing that behavior anymore. sorry for the noise.
No worries, I appreciate the ping!
can anybody help me downgrade my lutron auroa to 3.4 i cannot get it to gowngrade on xha or z2m
I got some cheap Zigbee Fire Alarms from Aliexpress. Since it's Zigbee they should be fine right? I know to avoid cheap wifi shit from China and put it on my network. I'm thinking there's an exception for Zigbee am I right? I originally bought them to resell so I could do that.
It doesn't seem I can send a picture for some reason.
Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! $7.92 66%OFF | Tuya ZigBee Smart Smoke Detector Security Protection Smoke Alarm Fire Protection For Home Security System Via Smart Life App
https://a.aliexpress.com/_msjF0y0
I was able to use my coins and got them for 4.30 each and I got 3 of them. Ratings are pretty good and I assumed I could not mess with their applications at all and put them into HA with no problems since their Zigbee.
I'm asking for confirmation lol I would never buy a wifi device on Ali it probably has terrible code and does all kinds of messed up stuff to a network. But if it's Zigbee it should just sync right up. I have Hue bulbs everywhere so my network is strong.
Id be less worried about this product being Tuya ZigBee and more about it working decently as smoke detector. In the end this is a critical safety device
Yeah, I was thinking about putting some incense under them and testing them. But I don't want crap that can mess up the network. I'm scared of China's wifi devices. Where they probably never update the code and patch vulnerabilities.
It's less of an issue for ZigBee. There is no guarantee any of those tuya device actually follows proper standards which can make it incompatible with zha/z2m
There is a list of tested devices out there which presumably work https://zigbee.blakadder.com/
I guess I'll just try one if not I'll put them on eBay. 😆
For smoke detectors I would look for devices with certifications (whatever certification applies for your country).
I have an expensive Zwave one but its legit the only Zwave Device I have and I don't want to keep my smart things hub just for that.
What I want to know is if I need the hub to access Samsung's Washer and Dryer. Because I have them and would be great to sell the smart things hub and be fully local that's why I was looking for a Zigbee device. And I mean TBH we haven't had a fire alarm most of my life. If it hooks up to HA and I can test with some smoke that it works it's better than nothing. And I got 3 of these Zigbee ones so 3 is better than the one Zwave one which I think I spent 90 bucks for. It detects gas but I have baseboard electric and a Samsung smart Electric Stove so the gas part doesn't matter. I really hope I can hook the Samsung stuff right to HA though.
Would probably still have to use the Samsung Integration but I don't think you need the hub to use them. My HA isn't set up yet It's a soon-to-be project.
A number of not properly working smoke detectors might as well be as good as not having a single one.
Personally I wouldn't cheap out on those at all, especially not as certified good ones last for a decade before a replacement is required. The only purpose they serve is to alert you reliably to leave the area. It being network connected of any sort is a pretty worthless feature if it doesn't automatically trigger an emergency call.
You don’t test a smoke detector like this it can ruin the sensitivity / ability to properly work
I second not buying a Chinese designed tuya smoke detector
On what there is a ton of them for like 25 to 30. Several of the listings say they're certified.
How would you test a SD?
by pressing the test button
I feel like people buy stuff like this all the time and don't even realize it. I probably would have paid 30 bucks for it. Like I said I paid 90 for the Zwave one everything is made in China anyway.

so many people just dont understand this.. made in chyna and designed by chyna and made in chyna are not the same thing
I agree the name-brand stuff definitely has better quality control.
the ideal solution is buy the best smoke alarms you can (wired + interconnect + battery backup) and add smarts later such as: https://www.thesmartesthouse.com/products/zooz-800-series-z-wave-long-range-dc-signal-sensor
one of those sees a pulse on traveler wire and alerts you regardless of which tripped it
I already have Hue in basically every room of the house even the attic.
so one unit covers a whole-home when interconnect are used
https://support.apple.com/guide/homepod/alerts-smoke-carbon-monoxide-detectors-apd1f1921722/homepod as an additional measure, smart speakers like homepods can listen for sirens and alert you as well but i wouldnt only use this method
I figured if they connected to HA I could do all kinds of stuff like make my whole house a siren.
you can do anything you want
Have an Alexa in every room and have Amazon for all the speakers in my house.
gross
Not an Alexa person?
I like the amp connect so I can have a whole home sound. All the speakers including in my bathroom can connect and play Tidal at the same time. She I have an actual speakers in my bathroom and on my deck.
alexa is on my list of things to try right after sounding
I have speakers on my deck. A surround sound system in my room and living room and Alexa and now HA will be able to connect whatever I want. I don't talk about crime in front of them.
yeah i've got nothing to hide argument is definitely the way forward 😦
Alexa: "Hello <>, your house seems to be on fire. Renew your prime membership to call for emergency services"
"<continues to ramble about additional services>"
But with the amp, I can have anything Alexa talks out of the regular speakers but anything like music will play through the Reciver.
Well, that might just be an extra thing im sure HA can do all kinds of think I just want Zigbee or Matter Smoke Detectors.
I don't want to have Zwave to my HA just for smoke detectors.
Also don't have any hard wired I would love if I could but batteries work good.
I don't even see any Zigbee Smoke Detectors.
Or matter
A lot of the properly certified "smart" smoke detectors are using some kind of proprietary protocol, like they're specifically designed to work with a monitored security system that will call emergency services.
Since you already have one zwave detector you paid a lot for, just get a zwave dongle and a couple of the First Alert zwave units.
why does zigbee smart bulb go offline when I turn off the light, if it's connected via Sonoff ZBMini zigbee relay? Shouldn't be online?
If the relay shuts off the power to the smart bulb, the bulb turns off completely. It's as if you unscrewed it from its socket.
yeah but isn't smart relay there to keep it powered via neutral wire connected to the relay?
You have to set it to work in that mode.
I have a Mocreo temperature sensor model ST4. It uses Zigbee but in a non-standard mode. It's designed to work only with a Mocreo hub but I've managed to get it recognized using ZHA by repeatedly trying to get it discovered. It reports temperature but not battery and is missing manufacturer info . These are nice devices: use DS1820b, have an 1800 mah rechargeable lithium battery, a long flat cable to the sensor that can be closed in the door to a freezer without damaging the door seal or creating a leak. Are there instructions somewhere on how to figure out the data being sent and configure a quirk?
https://mocreo.com/products/temperature-sensor/st4-st5/
https://i.imgur.com/avAn4NJ.png
I didn't know that.. where is that setting?
Do you have the original manufacturer hub?
I use Z2M
No
This is the standard zbmini with neutral wire right? Not the lite or L2?
yeah, standard zbmini with neutral
I'm not a Zigbee expert by any means. Will I be able to figure this out?
There is one thing missing in ZHA compared to Zigbee2MQTT. Device model names.
"TRADFRI bulb E14 WS 470lm by IKEA of Sweden" is worthless as it is the same for b/w and colour bulb ;(
I guess the zbmini doesn't support that mode. The workaround is to bridge the L-in and L-out and create an automation that toggles the bulb when you hit the switch.
Is it possible to run ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT on the same HA system?
You would need a second coordinator
no
OK.. makes sense. Are there any Zigbee debugging tools that I can use to determine what is being sent by these Macreo devices if I use a USB Zigbee controller dongle plugged into a PC? Would this be helpful in figuring out how to create a quirk?
have you used developer tools -> events to listen to 'zha_event' entries?
No ... I didn't know about that.
I learnt today.
you can also use dev tools 'states' tab to force a state change on something to test an automation or w/e.
you can turn on debugging for zha, and it will log pretty much everything the coordinator sees. for more analysis, you'd need another adapter that has fw for sniffing, and run a sniff to see what the device is sending.
thx, didn't think about this option before... is there any other option if I have very little space behind a switch since it was hard enough to put it in and it took some nerves.
can I make that physical switch, which is connected to the relay just toggles the light without toggling actual relay? (kinda like a smart button)
The only reason is to use bulb as a ZB router
Yes .. cool .. i see events coming in
Yes .. I've used that to test automations ... I just never thought to explore listening
I think the WS part is different for the color bulbs
I heard channel 25 (my actual zigbee channel) has a smaller range, not sure if that matters but I have about 50+ that should act as routers. but I have concrete walls and about 15 devices with less than 50 LQI
As long as you don't have issues communicating with those 15 devices, I would not worry about LQI
- TRADFRI bulb E14 WS 470lm by IKEA of Sweden
- TRADFRI bulb E14 WS 470lm by IKEA of Sweden
- TRADFRI bulb E14 WS 470lm by IKEA of Sweden
One of them is colour one.
anyway, I have spare ones so will replace it
Z2M only uses the model attribute on the Basic cluster to match against a friendly name. If a color bulb really has "WS" (white spectrum) in the name, it's an issue on IKEA's side
Helloooo wonderful community!
Can someone tell me how to stop a failed zigbee2mqtt update? it's been stuck for a whole week 🤣
I'm having a weird issue with two identical thermostats:
I use a Home Assistant SkyConnect on firmware 1.0, with ZHA, on channel 26 (which I've known to work fine with this model of thermostat before)
- They're both "Centralite Systems
3156105" on Firmware0x1418468c. - The first one, shows up properly in Home Assistant, and all HVAC modes (Off, Heat/Cool, Heat, Cool) are available.
- The second one only shows Off, Heat, and Cool, and when I set the thermostat to Auto (Heat/Cool), Home Assistant throws up the following error in a message box (but doesn't add it to the logs) and the temperature gauge of the thermostat card turns yellow and becomes non-interactable.
Failed to call service climate/set_hvac_mode. expected HVACMode or one of 'off', 'heat', 'cool', 'heat_cool', 'auto', 'dry', 'fan_only' for dictionary value @ data['hvac_mode']
Can you download diagnostics JSON for both of the thermostats and upload them somewhere?
Ah, I was just coming back to say it fixed itself(?)
Hi everyone, does anyone have opinions on Gledopto relays? Do they have safety certifications?
I, separately, tried factory resetting it, removing and re-adding it to the network, moving the SkyConnect closer during pairing, and restarting the home assistant vm, none of which worked. What eventually resolved the issue was
- removing it from the network,
- restarting my hass vm
- rebooting the thermostat
- re-adding it to the network
Wait
When I first paired it, I hadn't enabled Auto mode (disabled by default in the thermostat firmware, probably because the UI for it is unfinished). I enabled it after pairing. (I am a fool)
I'm surprised the Reconfigure button didn't detect the change?
No experience with the relays but I have a few RGB-WW GU10 bulbs and two RGB-WW LED strips with controllers from them. I'm happy with them, though my kids are a bit disappointed the 'colorloop' command is not supported. Build quality on the LED strip AC adapter looks decent but I haven't tried to open it to see how it is inside. The credentials are here https://www.gledopto.com/h-col-335.html, for whatever they are worth.

HA unable to detect my Philips Hue zigbee bulb (I have SkyConnect) it did previously find it, then the bulb became unavailable and I couldn't connect it back. Tried restarting HA and the bulb, no luck.
Z2M, ZHA, DeConz? Also, how many devices do you have? How is your Zigbee radio connected to your HA host? Most people recommend a USB extension cable to get the Zigbee antenna away from interference.
I've got an FP1 I use with Z2M that I like, but what's your application? They're not necessarily great for all applications.
I see ZHA supports the FP1.
Hmmm
Use case is to detect a person ;)~
Probably kitchen usage
Someone is in kitchen, keep lights on. As opposed to motion which turns off after a time
Are you still going to turn the lights on with the motion sensor? Because that's the main complaint with some presence sensors, the speed.
I use PIR to turn on lights, but FP1 to keep on.
Ooooo
I didn’t know that
I could if the delay is bad
Hey new question, what’s the consensus on running ZHA and Z2M on same HA? Obviously I have multiple ZB dongles.
What gotchas are there? Do I have to keep them a certain distance apart?
Gonna use the sonoff zbdonglep
Which is what I’m using for ZHA (I have two). And I have two Sky connects (that I had to de-migrate from).
I'd stick with only one Zigbee network for the added reliability considering how many devices are also routers.
My FP1 failed the wife test for the kitchen lights...Now it's relegated to my office lights.
Check out Lewis' video:
hi! anyone has a idea how much power a led strip controlles uses in standby?
i might wanna build one into a portable device, but if it sucks it dry fast then meh
Depends on the controller and the strip
Did you get it fixed? I have the exact same problem.
You'll need to provide actual details
i have a no name, cant find anything online about led strip controllers's standby usage.
i have one, attached to a smart plug that measures power, but its too low to give a reading.
Well... how the hell are we going to be able to help you then?
i wanted to know if someone knew this information
Only if you know the device
who owns a led strip zigbee controller and knew how much it uses in standby.
any. to get a idea of it.
@rigid wagon When using Discord's Reply feature it defaults to pinging the person you reply to, which can get frustrating for the target. Use Shift + click on the Reply option, or click @ ON to @ OFF to stop this - on the right side of the compose bar.
You have to change this every time (thank the Discord devs for that).
Start by checking it for any identifying numbers etc
i have some, but no one will have them.
there's probably over 100 of these things. copies of each other from china.
slight different firmware.
so if anyone has any of them, then im just curious at the power consumption it uses on standby.
Not looked at this for ages. Devices appear under Zigbee2MQTT and all working fine including battery status. Zigbee2mqtt has a nice map function which shows the zigbee routing of end devices
Damn, so I gonna look further, thanks
How did you add the IKEA repeater to your network? I bought some to extend my network (this is the only IKEA ZigBee device I have) but they don't show up after I press the reset button through the pinhole. I'm using SkyConnect with the default firmware
I didn't do anything special - I just pressed the reset button and then it appeared. I'm using the Deconz controller.
Ok, that's what I'm doing as well. I can see the LED blinking slowly and then stops after a while but nothing happens. Wonder whether this could be related to the firmware
I got the first batch about a year ago and coincidentally got another two yesterday and both worked the same way
What is Sky connect?
It's Home Assistant's own ZigBee coordinator (https://www.home-assistant.io/skyconnect/)
Thank you!
You can't get an idea about it unless you know which one it is. There can be huge differences between different manufs and models. Also, some controllers have builit-in AC/DC converters and some are powered by external DC sources, which may have different efficiencies. So if you want an answer: probably somewhere between 0.1 and 10 W. If you want an answer that is actually useful please provide more precise inputs.
My experience with IKEA devices on ZHA (the remotes, but not the light bulbs) is that for whatever reason they are very flaky to connect for the first time. They may connect and immediately disappear again. You can reset, start pairing again, and get the same thing again. And then after you retried ten or twenty times in the same way they will suddenly connect and then stay fine for ages with no problems ever. Can't say I understand why but I've experienced this with a number of Tradfri shortcut buttons and Styrbar 4 button remotes. This happened with two different controllers (though both based on SI labs EFR32MG1).
Hi everybody, on the topic of IKEA, has anybody tried the new door/window contacts ("Parasoll") or the motion detector ("Vallhorn") with ZHA yet?
I'm looking for an adapter that can be used over lan. Recommendations?
Home assistant will run on a remote location and then talk to the adapter over ip
Tube's
Which model?
@molten linden can we get an ETA on updated stock
So that's in stock
Newest model with more ram
soon.
trying to juggle day busy day job and getting current orders out. have components just need to make/update store
tcp
Just raw tcp socket?
yes
No protocol on top of that?
SoonTM tho?
Where does these ship from? I'm in Norway, so I have VAT issues 🙂
DDU?
I don't pay the duties, they are due on your end
Ah, that'll make it much more expensive. As I have to pay for the custom clearance itself. That's 30 USD alone..
Flat rate
Are you the only one selling these?
I'll check, thanks!
Is there a good way for me to force my Home Assistant ZHA Zigbee network to re configure? I have a TuYa TS0601 presence sensor that itself seems to work fine, but it ends up as a hub of many other items.
This has seemed to coincide with some of my nearby battery powered centralite temp and motion sensors becoming unavailable. I've been able to fix that by resetting them but am annoyed to have to keep doing so at irregular intervals.
More in general I'm also looking for some help in setting up your network for reliability as I've had some of these issues with sensors becoming unavailable more frequently and only being fixed when I reset them physically. Annoying when it's stuff like basement or attic sensors or if I'm in the office.
(I'm using ZHA with a Sonoff USB hub)
Hi. Om using Home assistant yellow, and having issues with all of my sensors for doors and windows. They are easy to add, but they get "fired" all the time. I tried with Deconz but that decently didn't work. Any suggestions on the best Zigbee coordinator this might work on? I bought tyo many sensors to just throw away
Not possible, unfortunately. Zigbee devices pick their parents on their own.
What sensors? The choice of coordinator matters very little, it just lets the software talk to a Zigbee network.
WISZB-138
by frient A/S
So the sensors are kind of working.. but the sensors showing open or closed, and stops reporting right after installation. The temperature and binory input still works though
Try to hit the "reconfigure" button while opening/closing the door. What does it show?
Ah well. I was hoping there might be a way to do so manually.
No changes, the reconfiguration was successful, but only the binory and temp sensor worked. The open/closed state last sent data 20 hours ago

The device looks pretty standard to me. I would enable ZHA debug logging, reconfigure the device, open/close your door a few times, and post a log here.
Ok, I will try. Thank you
Am i allowed to paste that many lines here ? Or should i upload the file to a file share?

So much data in only a minuit or two... jeees 😛
The device is sending IAS zone status change notifications so it looks like it's working. Can you similarly upload the diagnostics data for the device? It's in the device page, click the three dot menu near the device info.

I'm not sure I follow. In the log, it says it is open?
I managed to get it closed during the reconfigure as you said, but it stops working again when i open the door after the reconfiguration
Do you have other Zigbee devices, or just these sensors?
If you can, upload diagnostics info for the ZHA integration itself (it'll be under Devices > ZHA > ... menu)
i have allot of zigbee devices, i have only a few on battery connected atm. most of my devices are with standard power
I should probably have tested this before i bought like 20 of those
Hey everyone. I have a zigbee cct led controller that sometimes goes on with its fade effect using the light.on service, but aftet the fade-in immediately turns off, without a fade effect. This happens like 1 out of 4 turn ons.
I thought the device was bad, so repaired it, same issue. I decided to buy a new one of a different brand, and the same issue once again! So now i need some help whats going on.
Thr first one is a iderwel c05z. The other is a miboxer
Hi all. New to zigbee. I have a sonoff coordinator 2 wall plugs and 2 motion sensors. 1 motion sensor is the aqara p1, other sensor tuya and the 2 plugs sonoff. Well both of my sensors keep going offline. Come back after several hours and go offline again. Using Home Assistant latest version, same for firmware on the dongle and an extension cable. Running on a PC . Zigbee2mqtt.Thank you
ZHA. I do have a USB extension, my 3 other Zigbee sensors work just fine.
Hi all. New to zigbee. I have a sonoff
Can you recomend any device to increase the zigbee range? Googlesearch brings up a lot but not much that seems reliable
Looking for advice about a device to buy? Remember to provide guidance on:
- Which country you're in
- What your budget is
- What protocols you prefer (eg Zigbee, WiFi, Z-Wave)
- Any features you want (such as power monitoring, dimming, etc)
Hey 👋
If i have 1 skyconnect plugged to a Green but doesn't cover all my devices, what should i do? Do i add more skyconnects, but where? How do i extend Zigbee?
You buy Zigbee router devices (see the top pin for some terms explained). For example Innr (Zigbee) plugs
thank you so much! that looks useful! It was hard to find but glad i asked 😄 gonna look your config too 👁️
ZHA doesn't support Zigbee 3?
misinterpreted the part about Zigbee2MQTT on your post
got the impression only z2m would support
Nah, everything supports it now - at least where the coordinator does
Hi. I have a ha yellow, is it possible to use Zigbee2MQTT on the integrated Zigbee device? I wanted to try it, as I see many people giving gold feedback on it. With better overview and map. Would this be possible or should I stick with ZHA?
Yes you can, but the coordinator there is experimental for Z2M
Your experience may be good, may be bad, may be all over the place
You're 100% better off using an external coordinator, away from all the RF noise of the Yellow IMO
So, what you are saying... I need to buy myself more Christmas gifts, that I do like 🤣
I will wait a bit because @austere patio was looking into some log files to se if there was something wrong, i have some trouble with my Friend device's.
What Zigbee device do you recommend?
CC2652p7 based if you can, such as sold by Tube and ZigStar
The 7 has more RAM than the 2 most people use, which will be better for larger (100+ device) meshes
Yes, AFAIK that's a ZigStar clone
Thank you, looking like the perfect Christmas 🎁
i think i give up on Z2M... seems too complicated 😵
gonna see what kind of devices i can get with Green and Skyconnect
@austere patio#8728 pls have a urgent look at https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/105705
mein ZHA got so broken
for my friend as well btw
found post on reddit as well
Hey again! I wanted your advice on my research. If you could just take a look at my screenshot: https://ibb.co/ssDVb4j
All i would like to know is, will i be able to dim the LED spots with a remote in my setup, or is there a crass noob mistake in it? 🙏
i think that using the good looking (though expensive) Philips Hue remote i could control regular dimmable lights using ZHA
- Are the lights dimmable?
- Are they connected to HA?
- Is the remote connected to HA?
If all these things are true then no matter what technology things use you can control them with the remote, or anything else connected to HA
😓 it just seems to easy to be true! Afraid of buying all these things in bulk (new house) and not working
thanks! Will go forward then 😃
Well, don't know about easy but it's possible
You'll get to write automations, and learn all about those
the research is HARD but the setup seems very easy, it's all plug and play. The electrician will take care of the wall stuff
i know i will lose some time with the HA for sure...
now i just have to research about the blinders
ZHA also
You can always just buy a single bulb and remote and try it out before investing heavily
LOL, you're right! I can just try the setup before installing on the new house. Great idea 🙏
i know it's basic but i actually didn't think about it, LOL
Hey, Just bought a "NAMRON zigbee Led Dimmer 250w". After installing it everything works fine. Except the given parameter "On level" that should change what % the light turn back on, is not doing anything. Any suggestion on how to fix this?
Hello All, So not sure what has happened but after many many years with my door locks, both of them no longer lock/unlock using HA, when i try i get this error from Zigbee2MQTT:
Publish 'set' 'state' to 'Front Door Lock' failed: 'Error: Command 0x002446fffd0231f9/2 closuresDoorLock.lockDoor({"pincodevalue":""}, {"sendWhen":"immediate","timeout":10000,"disableResponse":false,"disableRecovery":false,"disableDefaultResponse":true,"direction":0,"srcEndpoint":null,"reservedBits":0,"manufacturerCode":null,"transactionSequenceNumber":null,"writeUndiv":false}) failed (Data request failed with error: 'MAC transaction expired' (240))'
https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/how_tos/how_to_improve_network_range_and_stability.html - probably they're not connected to the mesh any more
I can still see their statuses and such just fine for their other exposes.
https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee-herdsman-converters/issues/715 and https://github.com/Koenkk/zigbee2mqtt/issues/6177 and others may be relevant/helpful
Try re-pairing them
Thanks, ill take a look
Interesting, i actually just got it to work by resetting the pin codes using Z2MQTT...
Can you please DM me debug logs of ZHA running and then crashing? Without those, I can't help you.
Has anyone had the chance to try out the new ikea vallhorn motion sensor yet?
well that's unfortunate
Maybe just too soon ...
this is a question that borderlines both zwave and zigbee. can i use a zigbee dimmer to control the brightness of a zwave dimmer?
zigbee dimmer control, that is
i realize i have to pass this through ha first and create automation for it
this is the dimmer controller: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/4512719.html
"The possible values are: on_l1, off_l1, brightness_move_up_l1, brightness_move_down_l1, brightness_stop_l1, on_l2, off_l2, brightness_move_up_l2, brightness_move_down_l2, brightness_stop_l2."
so i should be able to use the different actions to control it?
ok, sweet 🙂
Scary url…
Hello, I'm trying to set up a Sonoff zigbee USB stick with ZHA, and it keeps giving me an "unknown error occurred" message. I was able to turn on debug logging, but I haven't been able to find any information about the error I'm getting. Thanks in advance for any help.

anyone aware of e12 (aka "candelbra", but prefer the round ones) zigbee bulbs > 450 lumen? the ikea tradfri adjustable white don't put out enough light for my tastes.
If i created a backup of zigbee2mqtt and i just wanna start over with my HA install, is just the devices.yaml enough to put back after configuring Z2M?
well i answered my own question and its no
the rest of the files is also a no.. great :(
well i do have the devices, they're just unresponsive and result in an error.
How are you connecting the stick? VM or some other form of passthrough? It looks like serial communication with it is unstable.
should z2m automatically create useable entities, e.g. switch or light entities in HA? i see entities for my devices, and i can see state changes for them, but i don't see a "real" entity like i'd expect. do i have to create these manually?
Assuming both HA and Z2M are configured correctly, and both are current versions then yes
HA before 2023.8.0 won't work with Z2M newer than 1.32.x
Z2M with an invalid URL for the URL field will be rejected by HA
thanks, ha is behind and z2m is latest. i’ll start there
That's caught out a lot of people who don't read the Z2M release notes
The stick is connected to a hub, connected to a proxmox host and passed thorough to a VM. I have a Zwave stick plugged into the same hub and passed through the same way and was able to set it up. I just tried connecting it without the hub (still passed throguh to the same VM), and it gave me the same error in the GUI, but the debug messages are different:

all set, thanks
I rebooted the HA VM, and it's back to the same "unknown application frame..." error. If that's typically a serial communications error I'll get a physical system set up to test with and rule out VM passthrough issues.
Thank you for your help, it was a serial communication problem that seems to be related to Proxmox passthrough. The stick worked when I plugged it into a physical test system.
Something similar drove me crazy today. Try to turn off your VM completely and reconfigure the USB passthrough before you turn it back on, that solved it for me.
I wanted to measure the power consumption of my server so I added my first matter devices (eve smart plugs) today, I shut down my proxmox node so I could plug it into one of the smart plugs but once I booted it up again, all of my matter / Zigbee devices were unavailable.
The "Silicon Labs Multiprotocol" add-on and the "Zigbee Home Automation" integration were unable to initialise but I was able to see and select the SkyConnect USB device within the configuration so I thought the problem is caused by one of the multiprotocol add-ons / integrations (it's still experimental after all).
Turns out all I had to do was to reconfigure the USB passthrough in proxmox because the VM was somehow not able to fully communicate with the USB device but yeah, that took me some time to find out...
Which is kinda strange because my proxmox node and all of its VMs automatically reboot every weekend to install the latest updates but shutting down the node completely apparently broke the USB passthrough...
How do I initiate pairing mode on my CC2652-based zigbee coordinator? It's from tubesz
From the integration you're using to control it
Oh from zha?
Yeah. I figured it out.
I knew how to initiate pairing on the zigbee end device that I was trying to pair. It was on the home assistant end that I was unsure about.
So I remember before somehow HA found my Smart Things devices right away. Now it's not doing that and that was years ago.
Thankfully I wanted to go local with my Zigbee network anyway I bought a Sonoff from China a while ago should be here soon. Then I found out that HA has their own device and it's going to have matter support which is cool if it ends up really being great. Unfortunately, I can't buy the thing I have to wait a few months possibly. I would like to set up and configure all my Zigbee devices but I don't want to do it twice. My main question is if I set everything up on the device that should be here any day. When my new device comes is all the information for all the little Zigbee devices. Or are they stored on the device? What I'm really asking is when my new Zigbee made by HA with matter support will I have to set it all up again?
can anyone advice a good led controller in EU?
i have two, but they both have problems. sometimes it turns on then immediately goes off again, while it stays ON in z2m settings.
@austere patio did you have the time to look at this ? I'm in no rush, I just wish I didn't buy 20 devices of this before testing 🤣 driven by impulse is not always the best hehe
Trying to make a custom quirk for a, currently, unknow device in ZHA - but I cannot get ZHA to match the device to the quirk. Can someone point me to where I can find information on how the quircks are matched to a model?
My wife do not allow me to bring our home back into this state. but when you have a look into the git issue page, more and more users reporting the same issue
Depending on the integration you use, you can migrate your ZigBee devices between sticks without any issues
I'll be going between the SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus-E Gateway and when it gets produced the Home Assistant official SkyConnect maybe sooner I'm canceling my order for one that's not even made the buying it on eBay Around the same price. Which app should I use to be able to plug in the SkyConnect the different stick and everything I did just keeps working. If it's a hard process now I'm getting the Sky Connect sooner. I don't m ok mind but if it's just like editing a Yamal file that's easy. Or something like that the devices and integrations are stored on the device the USB stick is just how it connects them right? I've never done this I used HA a few years ago and I just connected my ST integration and it pulled everything in.
I would like to go local with all my Zigbee lights too but that would mean I would lose access to everything in hue and all three scenes and lose access to hue sync. Think I'm going to keep them online. The pros outweigh the cons unless there is something I'm not thinking of.
I have a bunch of hue-light strips and even an overpriced TV sync box and the TV official Sync TV lights.
Trying to migrate from a Conbee II to a Sonoff module, the 'Migrate Radio' option in ZHA keeps failing with the following error message:
zigpy.exceptions.FormationFailure: Network formation refused: there is likely too much RF interference. Make sure your coordinator is on a USB 2.0 extension cable and away from any sources of interference, like USB 3.0 ports, SSDs, 2.4GHz routers, motherboards, etc.
I can't really lower the interference for it any more, it's already on a USB 2.0 extension cable and far away from any other wifi/bluetooth sources. Is there a way around this message?
Full error https://pastebin.com/JYbmRkmN
Nevermind, kept retrying and it finally went
Can someone please help with my question?
Hi I want to connect a cct led strip to an rgbcct Zigbee controller. Can I hide the missing rgb channels somehow? I’m using DeConz
Prob need to ask in their discord
deCONZ by dresden elektronik is a software that communicates with ConBee/RaspBee Zigbee gateways and exposes Zigbee devices that are connected to the gateway. Our #zigbee-archived channel is a good place to ask about using it with Home Assistant, but they also have their own Discord server.
@heady kernel I converted your message into a file since it's above 15 lines :+1:
What version of HA are you running?
2023.2.5
That's from February
The thing that confuses me is that it can't even load the very first 'zgp' from 'zigpy.profiles' - not sure how is this possible.
It's on line 9 in script - very fist after importing some very basic stuff
There have been 10 releases since then
Ok so I found the version from last month: https://github.com/ferehcarb/zha-device-handlers/blob/dev/zhaquirks/tuya/ts1201.py
And still the same error (code looks similar) - this tells me that it's probably something with my setup
Yeah, your HA version is way too outdated (and thus all the ZHA/zigpy libs)
oh
Thank you guys - simple docker-compose pull has done it
Wow, even HA ui looks different xD But everything seems to be working so far
Does anyone here in the States have a Zigbee thermostat? I am trying to find one for my apartment. I live in the south, so it's got to support a heating/cooling heat pump and auxiliary electric (resistive) heating to be compatible with my system. I checked Lowes, but Lowes apparently doesn't know what Zigbee is.
Amazon's full of heat-only thermostats.
I am looking at the home depot.
I have one, yea. A Zen Thermostat
Comcast gives them out with their systems so you can probably find a new one cheaper on eBay than anywhere else
They're a couple hundred new, I paid like $50 on eBay for a NIB one
does it support auxiliary heating though?
I do not have to use auxiliary heat often, but when I do, I really need it. Right now I don't even have my heat turned on. I have barely used it this winter at all. My electricity bill broke a record last month at $36.
There's a compatibility checker
Also it does report the current state over zigbee, you could use it to control an automation to start whatever.
Thanks.
Do you know if it has to be wifi connected, or could I do pure zigbee?
Oh the zigbee one doesn't have wifi at all?
I've never seen any indication of wifi on mine
I got mine to control central air/heat but I replaced my central air with minisplits so now it just mostly runs automations to control minisplits
cool. I am trying to stay away from wifi devices. I want everything to be zigbee.
anyone know how to troubleshoot aqare switches? Mine work only sometimes.
Trying to make a custom quirk for a, currently, unknow device in ZHA - but I cannot get ZHA to match the device to the quirk. Can someone point me to where I can find information on how the quircks are matched to a model?
which door sensors do you guys prefer? more wide or slim?
I've had good experiences with the Aqara contact sensors, they're tiny and easy to fit pretty much anywhere.
A quirk is matched against the signature of a device (device page -> three dots on the left -> manage Zigbee device -> signature). It's also included in the device diagnostics.
zigpy matches a quirk if that signature matches (device/quirk). To create a "stub quirk" (one that matches a provided signature or device diagnostics file), you can now use: https://github.com/zigpy/quirk-generator
You can also take a look at some other devices you have that might already have a quirk (and then the relevant quirks code in the zha-quirks aka zha-device-handlers repo).
So I got a 2nd Zigbee plug and in the visualization thing, it doesn't have a line going to the coordinator.
It still works, but is the lack of a line a bad thing?
After doing some googling, this seems to be a somewhat common thing.
the visualization is not realtime. whether it works reliably or not is the real test.
Good morning!! Did anyone test/integrate products from Livolo to ZHA / Z2M yet?
hmmm ok! I am on ZHA...maybe I must test
Well, you asked about both 😉
fair enough 😄
Maybe I must switch to zigbee actors and add them to my current switches...
Any opinion on what are the best modules out there? I thougt of aqara dual relay controllers but read they need repairing afer power loss for a certain time...
Howdy all,
Does anyone have any experience with the strybar remote and rgb kit over zigbee? The issue i'm having is not being able to navigate through the colours.
Massive cheers in advance!
Hi all, not sure if the question has been popped before.. I am struggling with conbee3 integration into HA. Nothing works! From what I can read, its due to the v2.22.02 - any of you have any info about when this will be updated to the newst version? Thanks!
Which Conbee III integration are you referring to? deCONZ or Zigbee Home Automation?
Oh yes of course - deCONZ. But of course neither of them works when it cant get "connected". I am currently on my Conbee 2 stick - was trying to migrate to Conbee 3.
The deCONZ integration doesn't currently support the Conbee III: https://github.com/home-assistant/addons/issues/3334
Zigbee Home Automation does, though there is a small bug with it that should be fixed in the next release. If you're migrating from a Conbee II, make sure it's running the latest firmware.
Exactly. Wasnt aware of the ZHA though. Anyways - I was hoping that someone would know when HA will bump the deCONZ to at least v. 24?
Hello, using the ZHA integration with a CC2652p2 Tube-zb gateway. Was working fine but noticed over the last month or so it would take a few attempts to connect to the gateway. (gateway is ethernet) and is up to date firmware and ESPHome wise.
Tried that, didn't help - it's still just matched to zigpy.device.Device
Can you create an issue in the quirks repo, provide signature/diagnostics, your custom quirk, and tag me?
Hiusing the ZHA integration and after upgrade from 2013.12 to 2023.12.1 my Aqara C1 feeder is missing some off it's sensors and configuration options. I have triede adding it again but that dos not help. I can't find any errors in the log when it's configured. I'm thinkink if it has something to do with this:
Fix ZHA quirk ID custom entities matching all devices (@mellow geode - #105184)
So they were existing on 2023.12.0, but disappeared on 2023.12.1?
The Aqara C1 feeder custom entities don't match by quirk ID, so those matching fixes shouldn't affect that.
Exactly I added it under version 2023.12.0 and after upgrade to 2013.12.1 some are missing.
Can you send a screenshot of the device page? (need to upload to some image hoster like https://imgur.com)
Weird, I don't see how the PR would affect that. Restarting HA doesn't help?
Can you read the attributes through the clusters UI? (device page -> three dots -> manage Zigbee device -> opple cluster -> select attriubte -> read attriubte)
Afterwards, restart HA and then check if the entities appear.
I can read the atributes , no problem. But most off them says "None" in value except feeder_attr "b'\x00\x02\t\x04\x15\x00U\x01\x01'"
After restart all enteties are missing. But i can still read the attributes.
So i removed the device totaly from ZHA and addede it again. Now everything seems OK.
Ah, right. I think the Aqara feeder maps "Aqara attributes" to (fake) ZCL attributes. So reading them won't do any good. If there's a button on the device, you might be able to refresh some attributes. Restarting HA later should re-provide those entities.
Or yeah, re-adding should work fine too.
What is the recommended latest stable firmware version for Sonoff zbDongle-E (EFR32 one)? "sw" I presume, but which version?
https://github.com/xsp1989/zigbeeFirmware/tree/master/firmware/Zigbee3.0_Dongle-NoSigned/EZSP
Does anyone know how to get these in to pairing mode, out of 4, 3 have paired and one seems to be stuck in limbo and i cant get any of them in to pairing mode :/ https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/ZLD-RCW_2.html#moes-zld-rcw_2
is there a way to monitor the zigbee bandwidth being used ?
@mellow geode could you please find some time for those Zonnsmart TRV PRs please ? 🙂
I've been running ZHA on a RPi 4 8gig with a Sonoff Zigbee USB dongle to control 8 Thirdrealty smart plugs, one of their motion sensors, and a couple Sonoff temperature sensors. Everything's been running perfectly fine until around December 8th, at which point my entire ZHA service has now started to just... go offline randomly, causing all of my Zigbee related sensors to go "unavailable" for a few seconds (or longer, sometimes for multiple minutes) and seriously screwing with my automations.
The error in my logs is "NCP entered failed state. Requesting APP controller restart"; I keep seeing via Google that this can be caused by wifi bridges, but I'm just running off a USB dongle. Heck even my RPi itself is running off Ethernet, and yes the dongle is on a USB 2.0 extension cable, plugged into a USB2 port, and is routed far away from any interference including the Pi itself. Furthermore, all but three devices in my entire zigbee network are mains powered, and even then all of my devices are literally in the same room, with one of those smart switches not even 3 feet away from the dongle itself. Not to mention that I've had zero issues with this same identical setup up till now.
Is there anything that can be done to either figure out what's wrong? Should I just switch to zigbee2mqtt? Would switching even fix anything?
What version of HA are you running?
Always latest version, unless one was released, like, today. Only non-standard thing about my setup is that I run HA Supervised on Raspbian so that I can also have a VPN on the same Pi, but even then i've been running it that way since I started using Zigbee.
...and yes, I did a quick sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade on the Debian system and rebooted just before posting up here, just in case that may have caused something. No change.
There are some known issues in 2023.12.x that should be fixed in the Thursday release
But most of the problems should be have been fixed by 2023.12.2
Can you DM me your debug log? Do you have any other addons consuming CPU that could be running?
is Z2M still the best way to go and how does configuring the addon and mqtt work today in HA aside from adding your usb stick in the config.
re: debug log
sure. To be clear, should I just enable debug logging, wait for an "unavailable", stop logging and send? Just wanna make sure I get what you're looking for.
re: CPU
The only add-on that would be eating CPU is the google drive backup one, which runs on a schedule that doesn't match up at all with the Zigbee cutots. But aside from that, again, this is running in Docker on a full headless Debian system so there's countless things in the system that could be using CPU. With that said, I do track overall CPU usage in Home Assistant anyway and there aren't any unexpected huge usage spikes (only google drive backup); the maximum usage hovers around 5-10% normally, and averages at around 4%, according to the statistics graph card.
That should be enough. Thanks!
Alright; currently just waiting for the error to show itself and I'll send a log.
How does one go about restoring a Z2M backup (devices only)? or is that not possible?
Sent!
Is there any layer sitting between the Sonoff stick and your Pi? What OS setup are you running? Just Docker in Debian with the USB stick mapped through?
any layer between?
I'm not entirely sure, but what I do know is that when I first set up ZHA all I did was plug in the USB and Home Assistant immediately found it without any setup, so obviously despite it running within Docker HA was still able to automatically discover the new Sonoff stick. I think HAOS actually runs things in Docker too, but it's more obfuscated.
And yes, it's just Docker in Debian. Raspbian, more accurately, however Neofetch still sees it as Debian anyway.
You seem to have a ThirdReality 3RSP02028BZ (NWK 0xE7FD) reporting various energy usage attributes multiple times a second. In fact, it seems to be reporting so fast that the firmware on the stick does not like that Home Assistant doesn't confirm in time. That's why it crashes and resets.
Well, i've got 8 of those lmao. I'll try and see which one
The one whose NWK address is 0xE7FD is the one responsible for 50% of your traffic
...well then, that's my desktop PC. Makes sense that it's all over the place with power usage, I guess
It sent 17 reports in 95ms, many of which are duplicates. The minimum reporting interval is 1s for these statistics so the device is being glitchy it seems
Did you re-configure the device multiple times after you set it up?
Or do anything with it other than join it to your network?
I don't think so, and it was one of the first things I set up, months ago. No issues till now.
Actually, it seems like this flurry of reports is being triggered because the device is having a hard time transmitting and is retrying aggressively. How far away from your coordinator is this plug and is it near any USB 3.0 ports or other devices that generate 2.4GHz interference?
Coordinator is on a USB 2 extension cable, plugged into a 2.0 port, routed away from the Pi itself which has nothing plugged in via usb-3. The smart plug is relatively close, though there is a decent amount of wooden desk furniture in the way. Everything (as in, the entire zigbee network) is in the same room.
Is the plug near the IO shield of a motherboard or itself near USB 3.0 devices?
Nope. Closest things would be my Nintendo Switch and a powered off laptop, both of which have been where they are since I started using Zigbee. I've just turned off my Switch, just in case, though.
Got it. And does the crashing go away if you downgrade to 2023.12.1?
I have not tried downgrading yet; while I do keep rolling backups and can restore to it if necessary, it is kinda annoying to lose the historical data
...oh wait you can downgrade without losing data, can't you.
I don't believe there were any DB schema changes so you should be able to just downgrade the tag for the image in your Docker config
If you can, send me a debug log from that version as well
Will do
hello everybody just joined cuz im starting my zigbee network
Bought a sonoff dongle and a centralite pearl
Though the box for my centralite pearl says “sage by hughes” lol
explains why the centralite website seems ai generated
Looks like it does. It's lasted over an hour with no dropouts at this point on 12.1
Hmm, that's unexpected
The Pearl was resold by a handful of home internet companies during various attempts to branch out into home security/smart home stuff, like Hughes, Xfinity, Comcast etc. it's a decent Zigbee thermostat especially for the price, I've had mine for over a year now.
Can you add this to your config on 2023.12.1 and see if it starts happening again?
zha:
zigpy_config:
use_thread: false
Makes sense
Not too sure how accurate the thermometer is but it seems cool so far
jumped from 71 to 72.6 degrees rather quick
