So... Docker for windows, with WSL2. Suddenly forwarded ports are accessible through localhost:port, but not <LAN ip address>:port neither from the host nor another computer on the network.
Curl just says "Recv failure: Connection closed by (not sure about this one, probably" host" - WTF do they localize error messages?)"
Turning windows defender firewall off completely doesn't help.

Hmm, haven't had any issues with WSL. And WSL v2 just straight-up runs Linux directly on a Type-1 hypervisor, so performance shouldn't be any worse than running Linux on KVM.

My only complaints with wsl2 is really the performance on cross system file operations (/mnt/c is ridiculously slow) and the complete lack of any form of usb passthrough.

Yeah, WSL v1 is faster there, because it's running directly on the host filesystem, rather than accessing the host filesystem through a Hyper-V API
You might be able to make USB passthrough work if you fire up the Hyper-V console and fiddle with the WSL VM

I strongly suspect this is part of the reason Microsoft limited Windows 11 support to 7th/8th gen, or newer, processors. Older CPUs take a noticeable performance hit with VBS enabled.
VMWare even notes the performance impact of VBS in their documentation for ESXi. They recommend Skylake (or higher) to avoid a performance hit with VBS enabled.

The idea was to eventually get rid of the Cisco system, but I dunno if that ever happened. lol

I don't think I've seen a private landline since 2003 come think of it, most people got migrated to VoIP for landline but even my parents got rid of that in 2008ish

We implemented MFA at our office, and to avoid paying a phone stipend for the use of the authenticator app, they made YubiKeys an option ($40 expense per-employee who wants one)
Because an alternative that doesn't use a personal device is available, apparently that loopholes them out of paying a stipend

Personally, I took the YubiKey option. They paid for it, and now I basically don't need the company MFA app on my phone.
I also don't have company email signed in on my phone, because their Exchange server policies would allow remote-wipe. "Nope, not happening. You want me to have email on my phone, you give me a company phone"

Rooted? No PIN code set? No problem, it'll tell the Exchange server all policies are good. lol

But it's the best Exchange client for Android, bar none.
I plunked down for it when I got tired of Android's built-in Exchange support fucking up, not syncing, missing calendar events, being inflexible, etc.
Also works for any hotmail/live/outlook.com inbox, and is better than the Google or Microsoft clients for either.
The poor Exchange support baked into Android almost feels intentional, at this point...

Hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) (docsis that runs into fibre earlier than it normally would - usually can get either 250 or 1000 plans)

Satellite (stupid expensive and very low caps - like <200gb)
ADSL (not through NBN I don’t think but it’s old and slow but some people still need it in rural areas - rest of the country it’s been switched off)
And excluding satellite and fixed wireless (because it’s not economical to run a 2km fibre cable to one house) the original plan of fibre instead of the mixed technology network is now looking cheaper than all of those

And that's surprising, because the HA app doesn't spawn a silent notification to keep itself running.
I kinda expected it to live in the Silent Notifications area forever, like Tasker and LastPass do 🤷♀️

Was gonna order a few and price gouge on ebay, but didnt have the cash to order more so just ended listing the one i had on ebay. Figured id either immediately order a new one off amazon once the ebay listing sold, or just cancel the ebay order if the amazon deal went kaputt.
