My use case I guess is for some fun with HA and NVR. I used Shinobi before and Frigate but that was over 5 years ago. I was thinking of running it on my QNAP nas as well so I can record direct to the drives in the NAS. I really would like for this to be for security which is why I'm getting ready to spend money on good cameras which is why I'm looking at Reolink since lots of people like those. I have a proxmox server but its pretty much running enough already.

A better strategy is to participate in the beta testing so that things get fixed before release. I had one issue with backups during beta testing and not only was it easy to roll back a version it was also fixed within a day so I could update again and continue to help testing.

So I also knew I would have no issue updating to the .0 version.

I starts with a router, then add on an 8 port switch, because there is no way you need more than 11 ports, then a 24 port switch because there is no way you will fill that, then you wonder if you should get stacking 48 port switches because you are not sure it is enough, your 9 way power strips are full, you have a NAS, UPS, and 3 machines in your rack that also houses your printer and uses half your houses idle power consumption

And yes, the fan exhaust is at the top of that vertical switch, and there's a couple of blocks of wood keeping the intake on that side from being right against the piece of OSB I have under it all.

And no, it isn't really loud, because I have the fans set to low (which I have to do at every boot since the logic for switching from high to low seems broken on this icx6450.
