Thanks @open girder !
@nova totem thanks for sharing that!
Thanks to all who make Wednesday a great day6
Thanks everyone for sharing!
Thanks @robust horizon I'll have to look into including the generic sensor library.
@nova totem Hit us up, we want to help if you get stuck.
Will do for sure, thanks for the offer
I won't be able to join to Ask, but Thank you @open girder for all of the work on PPE. Can't wait for news on the crowdfund.
It really is such a refreshing diversion from the challenges of the week, seeing all the awesome things folks are working on.
And it's so nifty being able to peer into their workspace, finding awesome hacks like a custom desk mount or using an anvil to hold up moss 🙂
Live on Twitch! 🙂
I can't hear the bleeps and bloops...
So, NOT a snub nosed potato gun
YouTube Stream is down. Go to https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
And lower delay time.
Periscope: https://www.pscp.tv/w/1DXxyeADPnRxM
And with 3rd party plugins like FrankerFaceZ, you can greatly customize the behavior and UI of Twitch.
I must check them out.
hahaha limor's summary of anne's radio shack 200 in 1 kit
I was looking for my old kit at my mom's but couldn't find it last time I looked 😦
I'm sure mine's long gone. I burned out all the LEDs by applying 9V directly to them anyway.
"huh it's really bright when I do this ... oh no, it went out. What happens if I do it to LED2?"
I had a kit way back in the 70s. The cat peed on it. It didn't work after that. 😦
My little brother randomly hooked wires up on mine one day and the battery was smoking hot when I found him
Smokin'
So he was the 'short' brother?
Lol.
Cat or the board?
lol @waxen thistle well he is the shortest, maybe it is related
@upbeat coral 😄
Well, BIG kids
I've been enjoying the new Makecode Live segments.
@haughty quiver's MakeCode Minute was 2min 22sec of circuit simulation at MakeCode Maker!
A Blocks / JavaScript code editor for MakeCode Maker Boards
mm dessert
Thanks @viral sail
Kattni's calming voice to play us out. 🙂
To sing us to our sleep.
That is excellent!
ohhhh that's so cool! congrats!
That is amazing, congrats
AWESOME!!!!!
whoa, got the fs going (slowly) on the esp32-s2. @ornate coyote
heh, and.... I crashed it
@rapid hornet That's the process of making things 🙂 You find all the ways that don't work
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
definitely not all the ways but many 🙂
take care of your people and they will take care of you
What a strange world we're living in now.
I couldn't imagine a better role model than Adafruit for the world we live in.
@steep pilot I love this project.
The cinematography of these shots is very nice 🙂
Indeed.
yay plants!
And you can see the crane timelapse out the window.
For a minute (okay many minutes) I didn't think there was a show! Whew!
music is on point for this video
i'll just upload the vid to youtube
@harsh pebble Yep. YouTube's being YouTube again. 🙁
@haughty quiver fyi, youtube changed everything
uh oh
we will need to make a manual stream so we can prove the stream is not made for kids
OK.
Ion NPI! Whoohoo!
i'll get with ya later, we can get it to work 🙂
I can make a kid-unfriendly beard combing ASMR livestream if that's what it takes.
I guess I missed @clear matrix. 🙁
Nope @harsh pebble
So this will be in a Feather board in 2021?
@haughty quiver Bleeps and Bloops and Beards...
Kattni's CircuitPython Newsletter will be at the end of Ask an Engineer 🙂
🎹 🧔
Thanks, @upbeat coral .I tuned in later than usual. The quarantine lets me watch the show every week now. Soon our Wednesday events in Ohio will resume and I'll catch it at about 8:30PM every other week.
@haughty quiver i'll ping yah after the show and we can chat fast to solve this youtube thing for your show tomorrow
or we will chat before 4pm ET and get it going
Awesome, thanks PT
@rapid hornet Crash all the things! You're not doing it right if you never crash it 🙂
This is an Eye on NPI that really appeals to me... I might have to nab one of these.

Got mine today. Having power issues on a Pi4. 😦
This will be good for astronomy applications.
You have a 3A supply on that Pi4 @upbeat coral ?
@viral sail what are you using them to take pictures of? Haven't in a while but was doing astrophotography a few years ago
what direction does the stack grow on xtensa?
@open girder I am currently working on USB-C Stuff. Is there a mistake on your Adafruit USB-C Breakout Board #4090 or do i make a mistake? It looks like the Pulldown Resistors are connected to the wrong pins. Can you check that?
@Mark (Gamblor) haven't used Pi cams for astro yet, but plan to.
Hey @haughty quiver , currently trying to power via a buck converter that runs the pi as part of Octopi setup.
Probably get an eyepiece adapter 3d printed for it.
These remind me of the Susan B. Anthony coins, except they don't have the Apollo 11 Eagle on them. 🙂
The darker, matte coins are pretty rad.
shiny coins are nice too
@open girder Will you ever get another cat?
This is your Schematic
@open girder I had a question too. does @proper trench know the stack direction of xtensa?
Question: if the masks are to be donated for public use, will donations be tax deductible?
Ok thanks
If I buy a $100.00 gift certificate , then buy something for $10.00. My account will have a $90.00 credit .... like a debit card?
@fallow fractal where did you find those files?
Q: What about & y not set u a 301c3 for exactly that or is that what your talking about now?
Ya sorry, 501c3, you could find an organization that already has a 501c3 established & join under their umbrella?
Lol, of course. 🙂
@fallow fractal just looked, the revB has pull downs on CC1/CC2
Any tax break is pretty minimal compared to the benefit.
I always forget to claim my donations too half the time
@rapid hornet Thanks. So it's right to connect them to CC. I doubted myself
Sony IMX477 sensor,
@fallow fractal was there any Learn Guide, product page, etc. that should be checked also? or just the repo?
@strange mantle I looked at some schematics and was confused
O @open girder , Limor I had seen in your maker to market vids where u talked about making a mess of your desk while working on a project & then getting the satisfaction of cleaning it afterwards. When your designing & making new products, do you get on a project & just stick to that until it's done, or do you work on it, set aside & put it away to work on it later like weeks or months or even years (like when the needed tech advances more) then pull that project out & work on it further?
@fallow fractal ok, we'll try and update the repo. thanks @rapid hornet ...not sure why i got credit 🙂
I couldn't find a learn guide for it
me either, and product page doesn't link, so may just be the repo
Good job @clear matrix
Nice job @clear matrix!
excellent newsletter again @clear matrix 👏
@clear matrix 👍
Thanks @open girder and good night. 🌕
Great show, @open girder 🙂
Thank you again @open girder for another wonderful evening of shows. Stay safe, keep fighting the good fight.
@open girder Thank you for being there
thank you for a great set of shows! makes my week
Thanks all!
G'night all.
Thank you!
Another Wednesday successfully completed. Thank you to all.
Thanks for a great show, Adafruit! Good night everyone!
Had a great time, now to read how to contribute to CircuitPython!
good day would anyone no the UK time for tonights show and tell ?
It will be approx. 5:30pm eastern US time.
thank you about 10.30pm over here 🙂
@compact lance#9853 thanks for the suggestion in your blog about the silicone coated wire. Made my life simpler even in the first time using it.
@harsh pebble @inner spade @split gazelle @lavish patrol Thanks so much!

YouTube is telling me John Park's Workshop should have started nine minutes ago...
Odd.
I thought I'd missed the Bleeps and Bloops.
I think they're doing some testing before streaming. Something about YouTube changes/weirdness.
@inner spade Evening. 🙂
Hello @lavish patrol! It's a glorious afternoon here.
@inner spade Nine PM here.
bleeps and bloops are a go

@fallow fractal Twitch?
Good afternoon all you awesome folks!
Afternoon @waxen thistle
Happy noises happening
did you mean me @lavish patrol
It's alive!
Oops, @next kayak . There's five other Wolfs...
lol
Perfect music audio levels
not sure if it's the ac or my laptop fan
Only til December? hah!
Excellent voice audio levels:
👋
Park was alive earlier
AC audio level is -35db. Not an issue.
WireShark started cast and it started to call wirecast
great for anyone
👋
👋
Sounds fine to me -- we hear it, but it's totally acceptable 🙂
And by we, I mean....well, me. lol

I feel your facial hair food-related struggles, JP 🙂
I just got one of those in my last digikey box !
I spot a reel to reel on the bench...
Reel to reel machines are very real.
Are you spooling the puns already, @waxen thistle?
You know how easily I get spun up by them.

new makecode minute ending to the song...
In the makecode minute window, I thought JP's mouse pointer was a piece of dust on my laptop screen....as the window is in the corner of my screen.
Mmmm. Cheese.
Then it started moving and spooked me.
haha
I tried wiping it off, and it moved in the wrong direction...
It was one of JP's gremlins.
@haughty quiver It's good for me on Twitch
Testing...
the lag is just the youtube lag

JOHN PARK'S WORKSHOP LIVE 5/7/20 Yoga Pose Chime @adafruit @johnedgarpark #adafruit
i don't even have the needed tools or parts, i was just wondering
poor twichbot is tired today
Tea's up.
love it
I would suggest put a small bit of hotglue on the tip of the solenoid to dampen the high-frequency 'clang' of metal-on-metal
not a great idea for a loud room, though
nice bowl thing too
for bowl i was starting to think of some sauna applications to make
or even glue a bit of eraser to the end
can you show us the sound of the bowl with the stick? kinda want to see how it works
that's pretty cool!
well if solenoid is with small step motor could be interesting if it works better
maybe a DC motor with a rubber wheel and the bowl on a lazy susan to emulate that motion. ahahah
making it hammer like yeah
Yay, discord works
@tiny axle Welcome aboard. Just in time for the end. 😉
About 50 minutes from now 🙂
@cinder wind or stepper motor and solenoid in the end make small hammer
Lol.
The goalposts are moving. Literally.
literal definition of moving goalposts
A lot like real life at the moment...
So true.
if stepper motor make the move and solenoid control hammer
Thanks for a fun show!
Thanks, @haughty quiver.
Excellent show @haughty quiver ! Thanks!
thank you @haughty quiver !
you're very welcome, and thank you for watching
I'll be hosting Show and Tell in ~45 minutes. Come on by and show off your projects!
You have much to teach us about beardedness @waxen thistle
I'm happy to share my beard care tips if you'd like 🙂
Your beard seems so epic it could share it's own beard tips.
either the beard or the creatures living in it
It does seem to be the one in control...
...soldering, cooking are dangerous activities. Anything with a motor can be particularly evil.
Even the center console in the car can catch it.
I might be a male snow white, as I welcome all friendly woodland creatures 🙂
you could have animatronic creators in your beard for Halloween 🙂
The Haunted Beard.
you could have led for eyes blinking on and off and smoke trickling out would look so creepy
Show and Tell starting in 10 minutes! Keep an eye out here for the link to join!

Hi everyone.
hi all!
Now that is nifty @robust horizon !
@robust horizon Try hot glue and hold it in place until it hardens
With hot glue, you can use canned air to chill it before it can melt or deform the 3d printed material.
I've not had much trouble with hotglue deforming printed parts
@waxen thistle Yep. And turn the can upside down for uber cold.
For the scarf hanger, maybe put the magnets on the opposite side of the bracket so they won’t pull out.
@sage aspen will you come back and play us out at the end with your guitar?
Lol. Good old Outtafocus.
My bass isn't plugged in, so I'm not sure if you could even hear it.
@sage aspen I'll give hot glue a try, I'm already using it to hold the parts together
next time?? please? 😉
ok
that is some nifty EL wire!
Hot Glue ftw
what can't hot glue do
Neat.
"EL Motion Wire" is new to me for sure
I think it's three strands of EL wire twisted together.
[that's just the first one I found]
@ivory kiln You're u p
Maker charades?
motion wire is very nice its 4 strants i beleave 🙂 its been out about year and a half i think i have a hi res photo i can send to show it better 🙂
Live demo. 😉
we've all been there dao20
theres the cap in high res one thing i forgot to say ( nerves were on ege ) is theres a metal mesh in side the cap so you will need wire cutters or small scissors to cut them 🙂
@tame geyser It's so nice...how is it controlled?
@clear matrix Good job. 😉
Thanks Kattni!
thanks 🙂 its got a battery pack inverter with the controller built in
Good job!
You did awesome @clear matrix 🙂
thanks Kattni 🙂
Thanks everyone.
Good job hosting @clear matrix
thanks all! nice job @clear matrix
Thanks everyone!
Great show all!
@tame geyser Thanks so much for showing off your project!
@ivory kiln Thanks as well!
@light stump great idea, always time for one more revision
no problem first time doing it so was a tad nervous glad you all like it 🙂
@drifting arch thats the controller pack i got about two nights out of some good batteries 🙂
I'll be streaming tomorrow at my normal time: https://blog.adafruit.com/2020/05/07/watch-a-deep-dive-w-scott-tannewt-at-2pm-pacific-friday-23-hours-from-now/
What major versions of CircuitPython can type hints be used in? I'm not planning to use them, just mentioning them in passing in a guide.
@burnt anchor I've never tried it but would love to make sure files with type hints parse ok.
@rapid hornet I tapped a simple one in for a function on REPL on 5.2.0 and it didn't complain.
👍
ok folks, starting the stream shortly
Awesome 🙂

Any plan for a 3D hangout today?
Oops, I was an hour off miscalculating the time zone.
@light stump hi yes!
Calibrating 3D printers. Priming prime lenses. Breakin' out the dancing shoes for bleeps and bloops.
good morning folks. not going to be able to be too active in chat- i've got a work call
Hmmm... Greeted by new Google Meet in my Gmail. OBTW - Hey y'll. Lovin on that spring loaded phone holder. Time to dust off the printer.
@split gazelle Good luck with that -- that's been my life the last several days too.

Yes indeed, another great show.
Out of context question -- @hard hollow & @rocky reef, do you have an unofficial "awesome list" of 3D printing links and online resources?
ah thats a great idea @waxen thistle !
streamyard link https://streamyard.com/cqketz8wxx
Because I'm taking notes everytime you folks drop a link like Ultimachine, etc -- and as someone getting into 3D printing, it's pretty rad having a curated list of resources that are known to be good. 🙂

Go Glowforge!
Wait wait, don't tell me he's the host of All Things Considered? 🎙️
Welp. My graphics card hung my entire machine again. I won't be showing and telling this evening after all.
@clear matrix 🙁
@clear matrix grr, those gremlins
@waxen thistle the size of that NPR pun!
i'm sorry @clear matrix
If you like NPR puns, you can always Ask Me Another, @gaunt plume 😉
I listened to WNYC live every time I did a Saturday morning drive -- 2-3 hours from northern NJ to PA. Really a great way to pass the time.
I like the screen on the robot
And we're appreciative of Digi-Key too!
Next week: Erin builds Superman's Fortress of Solitude.
There are many facets to this project...
Very ingenious!
those crystals are beautiful
That's one neopixel strip? woah
@gaunt plume I know, right?
Papercraft is so neat, those crystals look awesome
yay BLE!
I have to see about ingesting bluefruit data into Grafana....
it's a very angry project
Lol.
I'm laughing so hard, I'm crying right now 🙂
here's the first version of this library: https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CircuitPython_BLE_Adafruit
@waxen thistle I have sensornet data going into influxdb locally
That would scare me to stand up
@gaunt plume can confirm it does
I always miss my apple watch vibrating, having a giant light would be nice
If that translucent panel was a red eye that travelled side to side....it'd be a Cylon alarm...
Or Kitt...
@rapid hornet nice 🙂 I haven't done much with it, but I've been playing around with it off and on.
Cats always want to be fed, @sage aspen 😉
Been building out more VMs, a couple of NASes, etc. Getting tiresome of monitoring it all manually, and I don't exactly qualify for enterprise-level monitoring software haha
Especially this one

whoa that's intense
Love diaramas (sp)
Sam, could you post a photo on Discord? As a Star Wars fan myself, I'd love to see that in higher res!
Cool project. Pity about the cruddy video res. 🤔
yeah would love to see some stills, sam!
oooo, nice blaster scoring on the Xwing
that is a real cool model
That's a museum quality piece, seriously. No joke.
thx
you could code a wake up call @gaunt plume

@split gazelle hrmmmmmmmm
the fona does have an onboard RTC
@waxen thistle Thanks, I spilled coffee all over it on tuesday
☕ oooof, how's it surviving?

@waxen thistle the ctrl key kept sticking hard, had to clean it out. Not good when debugging circuitpython via the REPL!

I actually hooked one to a Commodore 64 but it was not super-functional
the editor was sure a missing piece, hope to see that librarified or something

@jade trail Indeed, thank you for sharing. You've made our evening, from one force user to another 🙂
@jade trail The skill is strong with this one...
@jade trail the video didn't do it justice at all. thanks so much! Shared with some of my friends who are bigger SW fans than me
@jade trail Do you have this on social media? I'd like to pass it along to some folks who aren't on this Discord.

@split gazelle is ble midi feeling responsive enough?
Excellent progress @split gazelle ! I've been using a 50ms on-time for a solenoid-driven chime.
Always like seeing Collin
@rapid hornet yes! super responsive

Collin always has cool stuff!
yay @lime falcon !
whew
.....this is pretty clever!
its a PCB distributor! (keep with an auto motor car theme)
Slip ring assembly on a different level
this is very clever mechanical design
that is magical @lime falcon wow!
Best hour of the week, hands down.
Amazing design @lime falcon !
Neat project, @lime falcon
Thanks everyone. Great work.
@split gazelle thank you!
@haughty quiver is the real MVP this week, he did a smashing job running S&T Primetime
@inner spade thanks!
Thanks for hosting. Fun and entertaining show.
lots of cool projects this week
@lavish patrol thank you!!!
Thanks everyone! Thanks JP
thanks for sharing everyone. dynamite projects!!
I think that @haughty quiver should host the Grammys next.
Great show all.
great projects everybody and great job hosting @haughty quiver !
So many clever and talented people showing their projects this week, I'm humbled and amazed at what this community does.
Coasting down for AE
@haughty quiver 👍
The projets were all incredible. Quite the power hour.
nice job @haughty quiver
Good job hosting @haughty quiver
Wow, so many great projects!
@light stump I'm still smiling about this project. So great!
In the future, all my NeoPixel projects will have a screen, keyboard, and REPL editor...
@haughty quiver Haha! I’ve been learning from the community here. Glad to spread some smiles around! I especially like in the weekly newsletter that @spring heath said “the cyberDUCK has been billed as...”. That made me chuckle out loud!
My personal project recently was moving as many programs on my Mac from self-contained installers over to HomeBrew (macos package manager)-- I wrote a script to update homebrew, casks, and AppStore all via the CLI.
The number of applications that aren't directly updated via that script -- or by a third party manager like MS Office Updater -- I can count on one hand 🙂
that's intense @waxen thistle !
@split gazelle I got so....tired of manually updating each application as I needed it.
I knew I had homebrew for a few things CircuitPython related a while back, but never really dived much into a MacOS package manager. Well....a few hours later, most of my machine is running from it.
sweet, that's awesome!
Now I'm looking into the same thing for Windows -- via Chocolatey or Scoop. .....because why not name package managers after dessert words 😉
if it works for android it can work for package managers
That's the nice part of iOS -- one stop shop app stores. Known good installers, instantly know if you need to update.
I'd imagine Android works the same way (haven't used it for a few years now).
Hmm. KitKats.
No Ask an Engineer tonight?

Grazie!
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
Lol, never been so positive about being negative!
woo round 2!
that star wars diorama was astonishing. top notch.
simple question, been a bit out of touch, would anyone say/feel the clue is a grand step up from the circuit playground
@dense ether Thank you!🙂
more for C based programming, future with Cir-python
@slow flint I'd say it's a different tool than the CPX -- better or worse depends on your use case.
I personally like the Clue, as it has a gorgeous LCD screen + wireless. But I have a plethora of CPX that I reach for when I need a cheap, CircuitPython board with a decent amount of flexibility and sensors 🙂
yeah, i have a small stockpile of CPx and have them in use as safety gear for my soldering stations and monitors for 3D printing. im just wondering if a clue should be my future platform of choice. i need that breakout being shown right now too
I think the Twitch stream went down? Can anyone else confirm?
yeah twitch is down
down for me as well
Down
yep. down for me too
Youtube as well
did my wife reset everyone's router without telling us again?
YouTube is back.
need a interruption screen that looks like a bluescreen
Glad it was your wife, I thought I didi it
nothing will stop the signal, don't worry
yeah, she walked into my room yesterday humming, then im seeing everything go haywire because the interwebs went off. she had one of "those" grins
"everything ok dear"
And we're not going anywhere either. Literally, you can't get rid of us. This place is open 24/7 🙂

ooh the arduino version of the rgbmatrix / protomatter guide came out, I missed it. nice!
Just found the cutest ear savers design on Prusa's site:

lol
❤️ unix
maybe its Una-X?
My daughter is interested in installing stardust leds in her room. I’ve talked her into creating her own with Arduino. Can you help me identify the parts that would be needed, although I would like to use 60 leds/m instead of the 30 the https://stardustleds.com/collections/all-products/products/ultrabright-led-strip?variant=32375049453673 is using.
I have LED’s on some clothing whose connections keep breaking. Do you have any suggestions on making LED connections strong AND flexible? Or is that an impossible holy grail?
Question: From your interactions with the Mayor's Council, what's something the average citizen not in NYC can do to help influence their local government?
Question: I just order Adafruit Feather m0 with the radio built in, what board should i use in PlatformIO? - THANKS!
@open girder Q: Business question. How do factor in the cost of electricity, labor and other misc. costs per board? I remember you have about 80% margins per board. Does that include all the other non BOM costs?
Awesome. Thanks
Do you have an idea when you will be shipping Adabox?
you know unix is cool -- they didn't use ms-dos in Jurassic Park /CoolStoryBob
unix...uh....finds a way
I have a pybadge that I received at a workshop, and when powered, it doesn't connect. I suspect that the bootloader is missing, since, it isn't recognized by the computer. How could I fix this?
i feel like it will be fun for the ship date to be a surprise for all of us
follow XDA rules, dont ask for ETA, dont give ETA
Good answer
I'd love to have a random adabox show up on my doorstep, that would be a great surprise
Charge cable?
Q: Have you gotten much into CP controlling larger projects, scooters or power chairs?
I tested that.
Thanks @open girder. You guys are an inspiration to all!! I have been a fan for about 9 years!
I let my lipo battery discharge. Now it does not charge. Did I destroy it?
Could I help with the PPE? In terms of things that I could make using electronics.
Brainstorming a 10GHz band Ham Radio. Is there an easy way to average several cheaper 10MHz reference crystals to account for frequency drift, or would it be better to use a more expensive single source?

i know, her voice is relaxing.
Indeed.
Q: Limor, are possibly able to share what kinds of ideas & methods are being shared at the NYC meetings, so other communities could benefit & better recover?
im seeling microsoft realizing the future is not fully them, they seem to be embracing much more open source. they just better not branch it to something like pyt#on
Gotta go! Thanks, Adafruit! Goodnight everyone!
@ivory kiln we'll be posting just about everything
right now it's all input and then the city publishes everything, they are good at that
is there a good guide for using VScode for all adafruit producs, im working pulling away from arduino, and since ive been using platformIo and VScode for 3d printer firmware setups, im liking it more and more
...pulling from arduino IDE...
@slow flint workin on some however, if ya wanna help out let us know
email pt@adafruit.com and i'll add the team and all that

I prefer Twitch -- better quality, lower latency, etc. But a lot of folks enjoy YouTube. I'm sure it's on a few other services like Facebook, Linkedin, Periscope, etc. Haven't tried them myself.
btw the adafruit live chanel is showing the show&tell that is after jp
Youtube can be fussy like that 🙂 The Showtimes above are accurate, barring any major changes that'll be communicated
9 minutes until jp's workshop!
Good afternoon all you wonderful folks!

Shows and Tells and Bleeps and Bloops and Beards...
hey guys, i have a question
I have a school project that requires me to make an arduino project
and there is a particular thing i dont understand
they said they want "compiler level optimisations"
what does that mean?
try the arduino help chat
no prob
@tough trail You might get more assistance in #help-with-arduino or #help-with-projects. No apologies needed!
Hi, @clear matrix

"probably" safe
I think this current crisis is helping folks be more mindful, but you'd be surprised at how much physical waste there is...."just because".
The amount of corporate waste I've witnessed due to "it's cheaper to throw it out" makes me physically ill. I can only hope we're more ecologically mindful as time goes on.
I have lots of stuff I rescued from the bin when we moved our office years ago.
I.e carbon filament light bulbs.
@waxen thistle The alternate side to that is creating products where it's not cheaper to throw it out. There needs to be give from multiple angles there, it seems. Like printers for example. When the ink is as much as a new printer...
@clear matrix Absolutely! Or following the printer example, when there's sensors/artificial limits placed upon what you can print [max # sheets per cartridge or not allowed to print black if out of magenta].
For sure.
I have a brother printer that can be hacked with a piece of duct tape over the sensor in question. Newer ones won't allow that, sadly.
I have one of the Epsons that let me refill the ink but the feed system on Epsons still bites.
i actually have an ev3 at home, and the official way to code it is blocks
Do you think streamyard would work from a pi 4 browser? Ill have a pistreaming project for next week's show and tell (hopefully)
As a general heads up: Be careful when picking up items intended for trash. Some localities have laws/regulations where anything put out is now property of the town, and you could run afoul if you rummage.
[I'm not saying they're ethically right with laws like that, but laws like that do exist.]
And always, be careful physically -- there may be chemical or biological contamination [i.e. bedbugs], other detritus, sharp objects, etc mixed in with items put out for the trash.
Well, the things I, ah, liberated were not actually thrown away; they had been stored away as they were no longer used. They would have sat in the cupboard in perpetuity.
They'd still be there now. 🤔
@haughty quiver next step is to use a muscle or flex sensor to know when you are in the position!
live broadcast, folks
My argument is - I just borrowed it. I'll return it as soon as they ask for it. 😉
During college, at the end of every year, folks left behind so much that they didn't/couldn't donate. As someone who could haul things, I had so much I brought back.
Now they accept donations oncampus for a summer "rummage sale" to benefit charity. Hats off to them 🎩
Good idea. 👍
See yens later. Gotta bug out.
bye!
Bye @upbeat coral
oh no, Halloween is coming early this year!
Slappy returns?
Slappy takes offense at being called "creepy puppet".
We should be careful not to offend Slappy.
@next kayak It started back in March, and is still going...
Native mp3 in CircuitPython! Very impressive!
Very nice indeed
no, that's the apacolypse, @lavish patrol . or just a monthly advent calender of death
Excellent work @robust horizon !
@next kayak 😄
Someone needs to use that Pewwwwww as a MakeCode Arcade sound effect 🙂
No relation to Owen Lars of the Lars Moisture Farming Homestead and Blue Milk Emporium.
would that be pausing the code until the sound finishes playing? (.playing == False)
I think he added that to allow the REPL to interrupt instead of using ```python
while speaker.playing:
pass
does adafruit make a speaker jack to headphone jack adapter? that would come in handy for livestreams with audio
You need a little delay sometimes to allow the REPL to respond to a ctrl-C
while speaker.playing:
time.sleep(0.1)
It is for waiting
because it is run in the background
So you can run code while playing
Dang missed jp again!
John if you pick up a red solo cup cut a hole in bottom smaller than speaker then scotch tape the speaker to bottom. it wii make the speaker be 4 times louder
Thanks, @haughty quiver 🙂
thank you @haughty quiver !
Thanks @haughty quiver !
Good job @haughty quiver
Thanks @haughty quiver

Hello 👋
ooh is it time?
Tool time? [dating myself if anyone caught that sitcom reference]
It's time to play the music. It's time to light the lights. It's time to get things started on the show and tell tonight 🙂
I like the use of the pygamer's neopixel strip as a vu meter, neat
2000s because I remember them 🙂
"Narf, what are we doing tonight, John?" "Same thing we do every night: Time to Show n Tell to the world!"
....nothing on Twitch
Newbie question, how do you get on show and tell?
To show and share a project at 2:30pm Pacific / 5:30pm Eastern today, view the chat or in discord https://adafru.it/discord and look for the JOIN link to join. For best results, be on a wired network connection and use a headset and microphone.
Practice, practice, practice 🙂 But seriously he will post a link soon.
theres normally a link posted 🙂
Ah cool
@rapid hornet Should I post the streamyard link? Seems it wasnt posted here.
yup!
It's just an MP3 player. we are in the future (non-sarcastic, this is amazing)
@wispy valley I just posted the link above
Thanks!
Amazing work @robust horizon !
I was just reading that BLE + TinyUSB guide. So good!
I have learned a fair bit about audio during this project
Amazing work Chris!
I like your shirts @cinder wind and @haughty quiver 😄
My mother used to recalibrate me with a whack, as well. Worked most of the time.
ooh I should bring my pyruler project to a future S&T
Where did you source the velcro @cinder wind

when you consider the velcro designed to hold cable can be $5 a cable thats a realy good deal 🙂

will this PR be for those ESP32S2 boards from Digikey? (I just got one too)

That's tomorrow at 2:30PM Pacific and 5:30PM Eastern right @rapid hornet?
Great. Thanks everyone. 🌘
good stuff, thanks @haughty quiver
oh good so I can play along at home with my ESP32-S2 board
👋
thanks everyone and thanks john for double-hosting this week
knocked another one out of the park JP.
thanks @glad mortar -- btw, this shirt and the mug are two of my favorites :]
@haughty quiver Thanks for another S&T!
@haughty quiver how do you keep the design from falling apart, do you only cold wash it? o:
great shout on webcam settings will have to cheack that out 🙂
Thanks everyone!
I wash it at 30°c which it says it should be able to take but its already failing after a few washs :/
@cinder wind yup! you'll need a usb breakout or cannibalize a cable for native usb
mp3 player for pygamer: https://github.com/jepler/JEplayer/releases/tag/v0.0.0-alpha3
Yup. I have a breakout ready to go. Pins 19 & 20 I think
I use it for my C920 logitech cameras on my macbook, and it's the best way to control exposure & whatnot "in-camera"
if you try it out please drop me a line and let me know if you ran into trouble.
@cinder wind I'd be pretty into your next song being titled "Terrible vel Crow".
sigh. now that I hear it, all I can hear is "terrible" and not "tear-able"
@glad mortar I never wash my clothes, I just stare at them with such intensity that they become clean.
wait wat, for real? 😄
