@fickle umbra it's funny, i do kind of think of it as being alive, it's so simple though! we humans are so easily fooled π
@lethal lagoon Cute overrides logic any day....
for sure! just ask my cat
lol should it be called a "selphy" bot?
@lethal lagoon what did you use to generate SelfieBot's voice?
it's my voice! my first voice acting gig lol
and then we processed it in ableton live
So the answer is "air," technically speaking
... That's it... @lethal lagoon is Officially Adorable
that's very awesome @lethal lagoon
@thorn adder aww thanks!
I guess maybe it belongs here, but great job on the Show and Tell Wednesday everyone, very fun show
I've been to college and have been working as a developer for nearly 10 years, but I think I may need to consider a new career path if I have to compete with JMK and Tech!
@lament flume Compete? Come now, this is Open Source Land. It's not 'Compete' it's 'Cooperate'
And collaborate. We are stronger together.
@waxen thistle we sure are. Having a space like this to collaborate is HUGE.
And the best part, it's friendly. Not "fake PR forced friendly", but legit friendly. People are kind, supportive, and encouraging here. I have seen so many hostile forums....(we won't name them here)....where they easily turn people away from whatever their focus might be.
That's not how you grow a hobby....or an industry.
Someone said the other day... "Please read the code of conduct. TL;DR? Be Good."
Man, that just sums it up right there. Be a good person. We wouldn't have half of the problems in the world if we were just good people. And I mean that "just" good. Set the bar low with "good". You can reach even higher for excellent, awesome, and amazing...
@waxen thistle Well said, it's really that simple. Be a good person, beyond just the time you spend on this server! π
@waxen thistle Absolutely! It's really cool to see a group of people that just love what they're doing, and want to share that enthusiasm with others. So many places it seems like people want to feel special. Here it just feels like people want to do and see cool stuff, and want to bring as many people on that journey as they can. I like that.
Sipmly the coolest place to be when you love electronics π
@proper trench @haughty quiver @rapid hornet @distant harbor @lethal lagoon Please read my post in #circuitpython-dev

@lethal lagoon Your Bot is so cool ! looks like a BMO in real life π
adafruit is live at https://www.twitch.tv/adafruit
Hello!
Howdy, everyone! Glad to get Adafruit Wednesday going!
hi folks!
hi @rocky reef
I have charged my phones for a few years
from lumia 1520 and now lumia 950XL
can you make it inside of the design?
so streamkit dont work again?
Yep, sure is quiet in here today. π

thanks @strange mantle !
(just reposting JP) π
@hard hollow
It wont actually function as a nerf gun anymore. It will have 1U server fans mounted to each of those ports
thanks for watching folks!
@eager sapphire It works.
Thanks @analog acorn , network quite wonky this morning
...because I was connected to the wrong one.
@lean grail Three 1U fans? A hover-gun? π
I liked the live stream thank you soo much
Hahahaha @analog acorn nahhhhh. I'm a fursuiter. and if you know anything about cosplay/costuming then you know it gets SUPER hot. So back in march i made a box of legos that had two 1U server fans and a big button and a lipo pack for power. and I carry it around for fun like a personal AC of sorts and anyone that wants some cool air briefly can have some. And i wanted to make a version out of a nerf gun somehow so i talked to my buddy to see if he'd be up for it. so that pic is what he came up with once he got the nerf gun in his hands!! so now im just waiting for it to return back to me so i can add in my electronics!
@lean grail Nice! That's a great idea!
Hehehe thanks!! gimme a sec and I'll get some pics of my lego box!
@analog acorn
the legos are actually super glued into 3 separate parts so i can get to each part if need be to replace anything.
Thank you!! it goes quite well with the blue-ness of my fursuit. its a giant BRICK to carry around. but thats why i added the nerf bandolier strap to it hahaha.
these 1U server fans are great at 12v though. with the lego box fan if i run it long enough you can feel the air from roughly 10 feet away!!
@lean grail Only slightly related - when the Sun 4/280 server came out there was an actual exhaust duct on the back for the airflow. We always wanted to put a "beware of jet blast" sticker on those....
And if you didnt catch it, both the toggle switch and button are hot swappable/ bypassable by using deans connectors in there. probably a bit overkill and uses more resources but it makes it easy to quickly replace either part or even bypass them in the event that one gets messed up. Which ive actually had happen while at a convention.
@analog acorn Hahaha that sounds great!!
Sounds perfectly flexible
yup!!! i make everything overkill like that but i wanna be able to fix it easily if need be! and especially when i dont have any tools around
make nerfguns flexible
Hahahaha
you know what is more funnier "Make nerfguns flexible again!"
Hahahahaha. i never remember them being flexible though
@lean grail Have you considered peltier devices for cooling the air? Not sure how effective it would be, and you'd end up with a nice and toasty heat sink on the other side...
No i havent considered that. But i wouldnt wanna add something that generates heat like that. Faux fur isnt hard to melt. which is a BIG NO NO for my fursuit
id have to put the peltier device and heatsink inside the nerf gun which wouldnt be the best for the shell
I've used Petiers for active cooling on power converters for robotics. The hot side gets extremely hot! I ended up with custom heat sinks and fans just to deal with the waste heat....
Yeahhhhhhh. dont wanna melt the faux fur. It apparently does a number on skin when it melts up against it
Cool project @lean grail - literally cool π we usually just put ice packs inside performer's costumes for stage, but they only wear them for short periods of time, not all day like cosplayers & fursuiters at cons
hehehe thank you @lethal lagoon!! i also have a single fan from a block of 4 1U server fans that i use inside my suit head. that helps a TON, i usually run it at 5v but i recently got a voltage adjuster so i can run it anywhere from like 3v up to 55v or something dumb like that, but the fans are rated for 12v.
Fursuits are insane. It's like walking around in an oven all day long.
inside cooling
I have a decent fan i run anywhere between 5 and 12 volts
you can have foam where is a fan so the fan is hide
Oh ive got it already take care of :3
So at the moment i have a usb A socket wired up to my teensy and then a custom usb A to usb A cable i made as well to go from my computer to the socket i wired to the teensy. The reason behind it is that i was going to mount the usb A socket onto the shell of the nerf gun then i could easily plug the gun into the computer and program/debug the teensy without having to take anything apart. But adafruit.com has diy microB plugs as well as a microB breakout with the power and data lines on it as well. Im not sure if i should keep my original idea or go with switching to the microB plug. I like the original idea of the usbA socket on there because its unique. but that also means i gotta have the unique cable to work with it unless i take it apart.
Anyone have a recommendation or thought on it?
@lean grail In the most practical sense, unique stuff is harder to repair or replace.
this is true
If that USB-A to USB-A cable breaks, you have to make a new one instead of grabbing a different one.
That said!
Unique is also cool
well yeah
And then you don't need any further custom hardware.
this is true
@lean grail +1 for the Portal reference. π
Or dexter's lab
Yeah i know.
It would drive me insane, but I would say do whatever you like the most!
Hahaha
Yeahhhhh if adafruit could get type C connectors and plugs in id jump on that soooo fast
I guess they are a little more complicated
just a little
neither do I. other than my Pixel and gopro use them
I just like that there is no upside down π
I'm a simple man, I don't care for its amazing capabilities, give me a cable format that I don't have to fiddle around with every time I try plug in and you've sold me
@lament flume DMX!!!
Can't mess that up @analog acorn
Or x gonna give to ya
(I don't know if Irish people can make rap jokes π)
Metaphysical question, since, clearly, they can. π
@lean grail @lament flume I think its mostly cost at the moment. Micro B connectors are very cheap
probably
another one i wouldnt mind playing with is the magsafe plugs like on mac laptops. but the only way ive found them as diy parts is you gotta order a batch of 1000 minimum
Cables can be bought with them, but they plug into micro USB
ive never seen just a loose connector
for magsafe? id have to find it again
@lean grail like this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3547
no not quite. like it was the actual connector and the socket (if thats what you wanna call it)
gimme a little bit and I'll find the link
I usually HATE when a new USB plug starts coming in, but I cannot wait until C becomes standard. It's so nice to not have to try and plug things in three times. once to question myself, second time to realize the first WAS right, and the third to actually get it plugged in...grrrrrr
Attempt to plug. Doesn't fit. Flip it over. REALLY doesn't fit. Flip it BACK over and make sure you have the right angle...
I've looked at the plug, looked at the cable, made sure it was the correct orientation, and STILL it refused to go in.
yeah, but I still go...."ok,was the white bit on top or bottom...well, I got it wrong last time, and I think this is right, so I'll try it the other way". It's really a coin toss on whether it's right or wrong
@rapid hornet Basically either of these:
Unique Design Powerful Magnetic Pogo 4 Pin Cable Connector With Solder Cup , Find Complete Details about Unique Design Powerful Magnetic Pogo 4 Pin Cable Connector With Solder Cup,Magnetic Connector,Magnetic Cable Connector,Magnetic Pogo Pin Connector from Connectors Supplier or Manufacturer-Shenzhen Linsone Technology Limited
Customized Magnetic 2 Pogo Pin Pcb Mount Circular Charging Connector , Find Complete Details about Customized Magnetic 2 Pogo Pin Pcb Mount Circular Charging Connector,2 Pin Connector,Pcb Mount Circular Connector,Pogo Pin Connector from Connectors Supplier or Manufacturer-Shenzhen Linsone Technology Limited
but like, the minimum order size is 500
@lean grail I would recommend searching on AliExpress vs Alibaba. AliExpress generally has lower minimums - Often of just 1.
ah
just one of those random things id love to toy around with even if I never put it into a project. Thats how half of parts i have are.
Welcome to the life of a maker @lean grail !
Hahahaha. been that way for the last year :3
"oh I might use that for a project, better pick it up" and it sits in a component drawer forever!
YESSSSSSSSS
If it makes you feel better, that is me
Hahaha me too for the most part
Debating on showing my lego box fan on show and tell
though actually i dont have my camera set up so nevermind

Lol, thatβs awesome
@round willow cool! what did you make?
Itβs a controller for a vive game Iβm making using arduino
cool π
That is awesome
@rapid hornet That is cool!
I'm out
I need to do something like that
@radiant ridge Are you gonna make it in?
thanks @nocturne turtle !
yyup
I see the monitor that says "PiGlass" on it
Adam made it in, hopefully someone else will drop out

hi hi @harsh bone
I donβt like those eyes in the background of Adafruit
Those eyes are awesome
Itβs too real looking for me

Welcome to the Uncanny Valley @round willow
Hehehe PaintYourDragon was showing them off in another group we are both in too. they are SUPER cool
On my "Projects I don't have time to get to " list is doing the "Eye of Sauron" version of the code for the eyes
I want that outside my house for Halloween
OHHHHHH that would be AWESOME!!!!!!!
Guess I will have to wait until next week to join
Check that out.
I havenβt made a Halloween project yet
Hiya! π
@nocturne turtle
Nice work @nocturne turtle
Well done @radiant ridge

thanks
nice project @rapid hornet
@lean grail Your Show And Tell blows!
Good job to Matt also, that handshake is really cool
(No, I can't help myself)
lol
yay @lean grail
Some people might be a fan of the idea though
@radiant ridge I'm suprised the pictures were so good!
I'll show off the better version one i have the ACTUAL thing infront of me
i only had one shot and it came out prefect @round willow
@river peak my first reaction was to mute you and then I understood π
lol
@lean grail was that the cat that phil kept calling a fox?
Always puns, @rapid hornet
π
@alpine nova yes
@nocturne turtle they are 5mp they used to be .5mp
Oh nice!
@glossy glacier No blowing yourself up, young man!
soon SEM is smarter
that is a great idea for your suit @lean grail - i always wondered how people could stand the heat in there
With great fortitude
@glossy glacier it was great meeting you at Maker Faire!
@glossy glacier Well done!... So jealous of the Sunday Maker Faire crowd
lol
lol
π±
lol
Caaat!!!
hahahha
What a cat-tasttrophe!
classic!
π
@velvet beacon It was great meeting you too!
Cats, engineering.
cats need to steal the spotlight! π
@alpine nova Well the fans i have in the lego box actually break apart into 4 small fans and I have one of those inside the head itself. but this lego box is made for a quicker cool down if needed. or for sharing air with everyone else. which other costumers like myself usually REALLY like me sharing air
Sweet!!!
What a trip lol
@dire bane one night we will!
@lethal lagoon That's amazing (I'm assuming this is the same Sophy)!
@lean grail seems like the lego box would be a bit uncomfortable in the suit. i guess it doesn't go inside the suit
Excellent project. What's its name.
@lethal lagoon A very clever design and implementation. The sounds are spectacular!
@alpine nova I'll send you a pic. i carry it and recently i added a hole on it to attach a sling
@lean grail cool. i want to check it out
Uh-oh itβs 7:50
Movie poster in the background: best film ever made, @lethal lagoon
This is cool. Does it have a name?
I want one
@lethal lagoon very impressive project!
@severe inlet It's da Selfie Bot! π
And very cool project!!
great work @lethal lagoon
@lethal lagoon I love the hal part!
I think that was the IOT one
@lethal lagoon I'll take 5
DHT22 - classic!
"WHY IS IT NOT WORKING RIGHT NOW?" That's the catchphrase of a maker trying to show off their projects
Pretty much @river peak
I didnt wanna run my project. it would really blown..... and been really loud too
WHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
"WHat's that? We can't hear you!"
cant miss a party with it π
Hehehehe making my hair stand up with the fan
My mom was wondering what you were doing @lean grail
omg my cat sabotaging me as always haha
@open girder those eyes need
body
@lethal lagoon It's OK, we like cats.
@round willow i was messing with the fan. making my hair stand up
Yeah
"Eyes without a face"
No worries, Sophy, that was fantastic!
yeah, it was perfect @lethal lagoon
Kitteh phot bomb!
@opal wolf thanks for the ear-worm π
between selfie bot and my cat no humans are in charge in this house
Actually you get points for cat cameos, here!
I can hear her husband, "Ok, cue cat...
@lethal lagoon does your selfie bot have a name?
@rapid hornet It should be "Selphy"
Selphy?
@rapid hornet not yet
Selphy issa good name
Selphy has been suggested a couple of time... might be perfect?
Is it me or is the link for Ask an Engineer not available?

How are the eyes spherical??? It looks like it has a screen
The eyeballs are a a real sight
@paper peak of course! *shake fist
@nocturne turtle spherical screens
The eye balls are, I believe, a gakken kit
@nocturne turtle There's probably a hemisphere on the back of solid stuff, with a lens on the front that makes the screen look spherical
@nocturne turtle yeah they are spherical.
Gakken Worldeye - We already know Gakken for its superb Otona no Kagaku Adult Science series of technology and engineering model kits. @sterile mulch Any cool mountain climbing gear you thinking about deigning?
Ok I see
unfortunately gakken has discontinued 'em π¦
@open girder is super excited about the Top Secret. I'm interested to see what it is.
Tech Moan did a video on a monitor that was like those eyebells.
his video featutured the same kit
I imagine tohe only idffrernce is ththe source for the projection
@opal wolf same one, actually

haha. "I'm a big fan."
circuitpython is a higher priority
ALL THE VACUUM WILL BE MINE!!!
@glossy glacier That sucks.
@rapid hornet vacoom toaster as a hobby project
Hehehe i was about to spoil what the better version of my lego fan looks like. at least for those that havent seen it
or put circuitpython to your toaster
Who's talking about toasters? That's not a nice thing to call a CircuitPython Cylon....
@glossy glacier Except it degrades with f(t)
Thatβs what I do after school
Do your vacuums suck? @glossy glacier
Oh hey they gave me a shout out again! Thanks @open girder ! (This is my personal account)
brings molecular flow into the conversation
@open girder how many cameras do you need for that?
@twilit oyster ... You're Seatlle Maker Fair project?
all the screens!
all_of_the_streams
ustream is owned by ibm cloud video
Didnβt he say periscope?
@fickle umbra for streaming??? you only need one technically. just the software to stream it everywhere
Yep
I did
@twilit oyster Fantastic!

which channel do we post our fails?

@open girder How long has AnE been webcasting???
@alpine nova #show-and-tell
@twilit oyster I loved your project that thing was sooooo adorable!
thx scott
whats the difference between circuit python and regular 3.7 python?
i think it would be funny if one time pimoroni pirated in to the stream and took over, and then some other time lady ada hacks into the bilge tank and takes over
@lean grail I think you mean @lethal lagoon
derp yeah. my bad
@slim ledge syntactically its python3.4 with limited libraries
π
hi @twilit oyster yay name buddy! π
thanks!

@lean grail he does!
"Plug in my shirt" Welcome to 2017 π
Makers: time to just PLUG IN MY SHIRT
Still couldn't get the USB plug right the first time
USB-C shirts coming soon.
@river peak hence why we need USB C
python is not scary, itβs actually a gift from god
That color BLUE ME AWAY!
pffffffffft
@vernal mulch looks cool!
sends @river peak to the punalty box
Or at least a gift fropm Guido...
@fickle umbra Are you trying to pun-ish me?
so, basically i should try circuit python cause i really struggle with arduino ide
yup @alpine nova
@river peak for that one, lilbit π
@alpine nova Sounds like a plan.
good demo!
Time to plug in his shirt again
ok, just gotta figure out my next project...
@vernal mulch post in #help-with-projects with #sparky tag
Python was my first programming language.
I was messing with Thonny the other day. It's a simple Python IDE.
My first language was java
@lean grailme too
BASIC was my first language.
I'm intending on going back to it eventually for my projects, but there's still a few things I use that aren't supported (Yet)
Anyone know what TonyD's background is on his Mac? Looks cool. Literally.
On an Atari 800.
everytime @sterile mulch talks I learn new things
@severe inlet I think its a peak in Washington State
Oh wait, actually is was HTML
But I'm working on learning python now.
@severe inlet That's from one of t he snowfields on Mt. Rainier.
so, the learning curve compared to arduino ide is pretty major diff?
maybe @sterile mulch can follow up later @severe inlet
@severe inlet TonyD is a mountain climber...
@opal wolf there were some folks at Maker Faire NYC teaching BASIC
is OTA possible on cp? @rapid hornet
@rapid hornet Is there a link to the Flick feed?... Searched, but just old pics
I'm too old to learn python, I can barely program Arduino
@alpine nova from the perspective of instant gratificaiton, as opposed to waiting to find out if it worked, yus
never too old @dire bane
No brackets or semicolons is the best part of python
@dire bane lies! lies and vicious slander!
@dire bane noone is too old to learn
Next Tony will plug the arc reactor directly into his brain.
how did you tell it what button b is?
my specialty is hardware
@slim ledge its in his arcreactor module
@alpine notch that's right up my alley. i'm all about instant grat. not sure how intuitive i'll find it
Get into python, itβs really easy to learn @dire bane
that was supposed to be for @fickle umbra
@dire bane i think of myself as a "code rearranger" π
@dire bane same here -- hardware is my thing
circuitpython is great at instant gratification
@lethal lagoon thats how it starts π
@rapid hornet woohoo!
π
my current projects are on the esp8266
That is amazing
does python work on esp8266?
I'm teaching myself it's not the easiest but do able
@dire bane ... but learning to apply different programming languages can be fun
my current project is on a teensy 3.2 i love this little sucker
@dire bane yes cp runs on it!
@dire bane Indeed it does!
Yep! Itβs really easy to install on it too @dire bane
@dire bane it doesn't do the drive but it does do REPL
Adafruit has a tutorial
are there practical tutorials?
"Horror Freight" I'm stealing that π
ok
@rapid hornet I was able to run code without REPL on the feather huzzah
@round willow I was mainly warning it doesn't show up as a drive
Ave has various colorful names for Harbor Freight, Home Depot, etc.
What are those giant eyeballs?
@sullen seal they are evil
All the better to see you with π
I just joined late
@dire bane folks can help with circuitpython in the #circuitpython-dev channel
yay @lilac eagle
the eyes need to be bloodshot for halloween
I'm going to have to look at that guide later!
the eyeballs would be awesome on top of the giant metro
Did they discuss them earlier?
Iβve gotta look at the new guides
1291!? Wow.
@sullen seal creation by @low fractal
How's everything doing tonight? I hope ya'll are well π
@waxen thistle doing all alright!
Wow, so mesmerizing
Awesome
the eyeballs need some eyebrows for more effect
Someone could use those eyes to make a cool mod for a car as one of the cars from the cars animated movie.
Hahahaha that would be funny
yea put them on a mustang as the two inner headlights that would be cool
@gaunt plume Good to hear π
...then go on a slow roll through the neighborhood on Halloween
I remember hearing there's a facial recognition library for RPi....would love to use that to focus the eyes on someone....
have them movement actuated to follow movement someone walks in front of the car and the yes follow them....
Or you could do a scary "Christine" type theme for Halloween.
How would someone go about contributing to the learning system?
Yes, a Bel Aire...
@sullen seal @open girder is like to know that too
i wonder if those eyes are the sam as the cat eyes on this artcar i saw at burning man
@sullen seal usually someone has a guide on instructables or hackaday.io and we check that out
what was christine a cadillac or packard I can't remeber
that way we can see a project and the documentation
@open girder sounds good.
Could we put a link in the show and tell section?
@sullen seal @lilac eagle did his in a google doc to start too
@round willow link to what?
In the novel it was a 1958 Plymouth Fury.
To an instructable to be posted to Adafruit guides @rapid hornet
when i found all the learning content on adafruit I think I downloaded for several hours straight like a kid in a candy store
yeah! please feel free to share guides you've written
Alright!
Joy!
omg Joy π
we need a joy emoji
@rapid hornet yes!
pffffffffft Phil is salty
oh happy day
@open girder If she looks at the maps online, would that make her a cart-ographer?
simple eyes can be so expressive!
"I'm watching you"
how cool would it be to have some kind of stats on the screen
AdaBox yay!
or like in DOOM the chr changes
needs AdaBox 006 for his birthday
But I didn't get a macbook in my adabox π π π
@open girder do we need to subscribe again now that the feather ecosystem is done?
Or a lovely succulent.
the team did such a great job on this π
I seriously can't wait to see what @open girder and @proper trench put in AdaBox 007...
@round willow I believe the answer is "No"
@round willow I think it just keeps going. so if you are subscribed you should keep getting it
Ok, good
I enjoy the attention to detail on this promo
i love the production on this video
@analog acorn I agree. 007 is going to be amazing.
gorgeous
adafruit logo on the latte? ππ»
mic!
@open girder muted mic
@open girder Phil yer muted!
Mic
no sound
you know I like the ADA BOX but I wish you had an advanced version for some of us that already have the basic skills
oh no! did a cat get your mic?!
@open girder We can't hear you!
Canβt hear @open girder
sounds gone
@open girder Sound is off again!
lol
buffering
I guess he got it
@open girder How about those buttons?
There we go
They don't have a cat to blame on muting them. π
Lol
mutant cat
the mute button is deadly
Yeah it is
Lol, yes
Makes me think of the WAN show
my cat says she had nothing to do with this one.
The mute button is a silent killer
sure @lethal lagoon
@lethal lagoon I'm not buyin it
@lethal lagoon lol
you can't trust a cat
@river peak thatβs a little too many puns
Will there be a 4g cell chip from adafruit any time?
@round willow Never enough puns
my dog like to re-engineer my remotes
That bites.
Sophy's cat has been practicing her long range hairball launching, aiming that the adafruit mute button...
The State of the Arduino presentation is on YouTube for those of you who were looking.

@opal wolf totally possible
@open girder Maybe mute should blink when it's active?
no sound......just kidding
@fickle umbra Just make giant 14-segment character display that flashes "ON" in giant letters
@river peak itβs not overkill because weβre makers
If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing.
Overdoing is underachieving.
I over do most things. like my nerf gun project
Go big or go home, and most of us are already home when we do such things.
hahahaha . so you might as well go BIG then
nice pattern
sooo cool
What about an alarm similar to police car siren boxes. If the light system is left on for X amount of time a beep is heard every so often to remind the user.
how do you put the pattern on the sheets?
To quote MTV, "too much is never enough".
@slim ledge It's a printable sheet they have
Hereβs nimbus!
inkjet or laser?
Inkjet
cool thanks
Spoopy
must make that
I wonder if I dip my head in on a sheet printed with brad pit on it I'll be good looking?
hahaha
superchill
I'd have to shave my beard so no dice
Hey @open girder someone on YouTube suggested doing a 3d printing service! I think that would be cool, so I'm posting it here so you can see it
@nocturne turtle check out shapeways
I don't see why they would. thre are already serveral out there
Or you could staple Hugh Jackmans face to yours like Deadpool.
Shapeways comes to mind, as does 3dubs
@nocturne turtle @open girder I've used these guys before: https://voodoomfg.com/
mybe I could print some hair on the top of my head...
Yeah, I don't personally need it right now, I'm just saying it's a cool idea
@analog acorn They just didn't want you to space out.
β β β
whoa kids' projects will be sent to space?!? that's so awesome!
It's superchill in space.
@nocturne turtle for my nerf gun project i sent the gun to my buddy with a printer and had him model and print th part. now im just waiting on him to ship it back
@waxen thistle Amusingly, one of the biggest issues they have in space is heat
I need to ask my school to do that
Ladyada is there any plans onmaking an A.I interface for the RPI?
My first time viewing. Why is this stream called "ask an engineer"? Does that happen at some point? Seriuos query.
New New New
@lean grail Cool!
@fluid echo at the end
Mongoose OS?

I don't suppose there are STL's for that case?
Feedback 360 Degree - High Speed Continuous Rotation Servo https://www.adafruit.com/product/3614
put an encoder on it
@dire bane STL?
@agent - there are tons of STL's for other cases online.
3d printer files
@open girder QQ: what is the advantage of the feedback servo over an external rotary encoder?
ahh i want some of those π
It's fully integrated

Is there a way to modify the bluefruit app, or How would I go about making my own?
(for the mini race car)
@fluid echo now is the time!
Yeah!... Replacement for the Fona feather!
@eager sapphire Yes, but how many steps vs. say, a 4096 step encoder?
Didn't see any resolution info @analog acorn
how many steps on the encoder is it
@open girder What was the name of that cool servo? I have a undergrad student team that might need something like that.
How would recommend integrating rs232 like projectors, receivers, serial printers with microcomputers.
What would be a good way for a feather huzzah to communicate with a C# script?
2.7 first or go to 3.7 if you've not learned it yet
@open girder Datasheet says 12-bit
Which board would you recommend for a pulse/heartbeat sensing wearable
Ahhhh, ok, cool!
Is there any way to get circuit python on a Adrino uno?
For the AS5600
I have one of your 2.5" TFT LCDs, do you think it could be wired directly to a raspberry pi, totally avoiding the AV port?
250 steps sounds good very useable
At 12 bits, that's 4096 steps
Thanks for your response π
What is your favorite 3D printing companion other than OctoPrint/OctoPi?
No love tonight
@calm axle post that in #help-with-3dprinting
Alright
@fluid echo what sort of microcomputers? something like an arduino?
ohhhh thats loud!
how is that a number LOL
@tight spade cuz magic
Yes, arduino
lol
shout out to hawaii my home state!
congrats, matthew from honolulu!
@tight spade 3-3-4 - Numbers have association to letters
wooo!
grats matt!
I don't remember specifically which is what though
@fluid echo should be doable. post the arduino you have and the things you want to connect to to #help-with-projects and peple will suggest things
what no question LOL back in my day LOL
@tannewt thanks
no problem!

thanks everyone!
@open girder Fun, as always!
@heavy siren That was my thing when I was doing UNIX systems programming....
Wish I could have caught the stream, I'm in class at the moment
@old kiln you can always watch later and chat here while you do
@open girder thank you for the fun tonight!!! When i finish my lego fan v2.0 if im not able to make it to show and tell would it be possible to submit a video of it and have you guys show it off in my place?
That's why its recorded π Keep learning @old kiln!
@analog acorn Wow, low level, stuff eh? Any kernel crawling? As we called it.
Yessir. Got quite good at running gdb on running kernel images.....
Oh no, I can tell my internet is about to go out again. Comcast is upgrading hardware for DOCSIS 3.1. Gotta buy a new modem.
@analog acorn and you could write qubits
@heavy siren I'll be around all evening if ya want to catch up....
@analog acorn Okee doke. There they go, I can literally see them throttling me down...
ok later guys, I put my machine to install recent insider build
night @heavy siren !
I'm off as well, MIDI demands dinner
night @lethal lagoon !
thanks all for hanging out! night @rapid hornet
ok, I'm out for a bit. night all
As usual, wednesday night is better for having Adafruit content in it! Fantastic!
Great show last night everyone!
@lethal lagoon that robot is amazing, I actually felt kind of bad for it when you printed though, it sounded like it was in pain!
Do you have the project written up anywhere? I'd nearly consider trying to build it for my daughter using a toy as the case
@lament flume thanks!!! I know, some of the sounds are over the top but I like that it's sort of out of the user's control, kind of more like a living thing when it's not 100% agreeable all the time π
We want to do a dedicated video and write up about it soon, if you make it one day I'd love to see your build!
Haha
Certainly seemed like you achieved that @lethal lagoon it really does seem to have its own personality
Awesome, my daughter is a bit young for it at the moment so it leaves me some time to find a donor body!
I would be interested in just what type of screen you used, was it hdmi or is it run from the gpio
It's awesome that you and your husband work together on stuff. My fiance is very supportive of my projects and videos, but more in a give me the time to make them kind of a way
I'm pretty certain she hasn't watched a single video π

the link to the circuit playground stickers is on https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/adafruit-stickers/id1291627278?mt=8
Having searched through Adafruitβs videos on YouTube, I couldnβt find a video guide to filament comparisons, and think that something like that would be a good topic for a show, if you guys ever run short on topics.
I got the stickers! now to have someone to use them with...
@open girder can the stickers be added though the Bluefruit app. It appears now on ios that apps can have stickers
Atleast i think thats what these icons are. Some my games show them now on ios11
is that i message?
@shell mason yeah. I just cropped the top half out

@analog acorn that keeps happening!
Well, "OK Google" is designed to respond to human voices...us robots need to fuss around a bit to appease the live demo gods.

Listservs? I can't say I'm familiar that much with them. Anyone have a good primer to share with those just discovering them?
I dont like playing charades lol
@rapid hornet lol
@waxen thistle ... You joking?... You are of the "vintage" where these were popular...
I was on a bunch of listservs - they all gradually fell silent
@waxen thistle Just an email list. "listserv" is a particular implementation that became a generic name.

what's the deal with the eye balls behind them?
they are @low fractal 's creation @dire bane
@eager sapphire It would have to be a really, really good SEM for me to get another one. The ISI was like honda civic, the JEOL is like an old Cadillac, but there is always room for a Tesla...
@dire bane Just a giant version of @low fractal kit...
Heh! Yes, Iβm sure you wouldnβt turn one down, @glossy glacier

@round willow I used it for a Boat LED project,,,, works great
I used it to drive the myminiracecar kit because why not and it wasn't the best for driving robots but other than driving it works really well
gotta have a phone of course.. watch sends commands to app on phone and phone connects to BLE
IO - I'm in!
Blynk needs a watch app
I wonder how that service handles daylight/standard time transitions
Probably it relies on GMT, which is invulnerable to the vagaries (who talks like that?) of daylight savings time
Isn't this marginally illegal?
the notes say "for motion picture use only"
