Cube Escape: Paradox is the tenth game in the Cube Escape series. It was developed alongside a short film of the same name, and was released on September 20th, 2018. Despite being a Cube Escape game, and not one of the separate Rusty Lake titles, this game is available on paid services and contains a second chapter of DLC, which must be purchased. The first chapter does not.

In this game you play as Dale Vandermeer, who is trapped in an ominous room without any recollection of his past. Dale must solve increasingly challenging puzzles to escape the room and recover his memories.

The story is told out of order and a lot is left up to interpretation but he’s the basics:

!!SPOILERS!!
||Laura (the girl) dies, Dale Vandermeer (the detective) investigates to try and figure out if it’s murder or if she did it herself. It’s very unclear even thought we play through it from several perspectives.

Laura before her death goes to Rusty Lake as it’s implied she has some mental health problems. It’s assumed something happened there that was the tipping point towards her death.

Dale ends up at the bottom of Rusty Lake (for reasons) and he and Laura have a sort of spirit meeting where they must decide which of them lives and dies. It’s usually assumed by the community that Dale is the one to live in the end.

This is pretty much the end of the timeline. So moving backwards now.
Before Laura’s death her family (Vanderbooms) has possibly the strangest upbringing imaginable and Laura has an incredibly esoteric birth stemming from the fact that her birth is a plot by her great (I think there’s another great I’m bad at math) grandfather (William) to be reborn and escape Samsara (the cycle of rebirth) after he and his brother (Who becomes Mr Crow) made an elixir that killed William but gave Mr Crow eternal life in return.

Part of Mr Owl’s plot is that he built a Hotel in the center of Rusty Lake to bring in guests to harvest their memories and this is the origin of Laura’s Parrot, Harvey.

Before even this, at the center of the lake was a place called Paradise. Home to the Eilanders family (very important distinction). They were also incredibly strange and this was a precursor life to Mr Owl’s where I think he became aware of the cycle of rebirth.

So far that’s the start. There’s a lot in the middle I skipped like TPW and TWD but that’s the main cliff notes.||
