No, nodes can be built anywhere however usually you will build them in the 2nd grid. You'd take a supply truck and drop supplies just in the 3rd grid so you can build the nodes anywhere in a 50m radius of the supplies in the 2nd grid, this is to prevent them being lost when your 1st point is captured.

Yes, when you ping the server it's you to the server. Once in the game on average it will be 3X due to all the other resources being used by the server especially if full.

Official is less likely to have microphone use (as well as if you have issues with players or cheaters - you won't really get help. Community servers have easily accessible admins to take care of those issues)

hello! my friends just picked up hell let loose on epic games and are trying to play the game with me for the first time (i'm on steam). we're trying to add eachother as friends in game so that we can play together but unfortunately both the steam version and the epic version are not allowing us to see the friends tab. we're all seeing the "no compatible servers found" error, and we're at a loss of what to do. is there any way to fix this? we've tried closing the game, checking game files, and other fixes suggested by google. are the servers struggling tonight? any help is appreciated

I'd post an image of the error if I could, but we've gone through most of those server fix suggestions. the servers are fine, we can join in on games no problem. the problem is that the friends list and favorites tab are unaccessible for both my friends and myself. I've played this game for some time and took a break for the better part of a year now but have never had issues like this in the past even while running an antivirus and a vpn at the time. currently im not running a vpn but I am running an antivirus, but both my friends aren't and they have the same issue as myself. all three of us are getting the "No compatible servers found. Please try again later..." error on the friends and favorites tab and it's rough trying to find out how to play together. crossplay is enabled, internet is fine, ping is good, etc etc

The decision to make HLL a free game (even if claimable just for a limited time), was a bad decision at this time. Now we have 90% of LVL 1s in the matches, they don't talk, they don't build garrisons nor nodes. And they can't take CMD role either because there is no LVL 30+ player in the team.

If you wanted to do this, OK by all means. But first you should have to introduce a mandatory tutorial scenarios because these guys know absolutely nothing and they outnumber us by a huuuuuuge deal. Practice range is meaningless as it doesn't guide nor force the newcomers to learn anything.
