The controllers and headset dictate highly what stocks you can use. If the headset tracks the controllers your best bet is stocks that the controllers lay into rather than attach from the bottom.

I think it depends more on your wifi router than your actual internet if you are doing it locally. But for the best results your PC should probably be connected by ethernet cable and the quest within line-of-site of the wifi router.

I could be wrong though, my internet speeds are 150mbs and I get amazing results. I also live alone so it's not like my wifi is competing with anything else.

I'd try it at least and see how you feel. I used to use quest link or direct USB headset to PC link and honestly after years of updates meta made to the software of the quest 2, using metas tools to connect to my PC got worse over time and now Steam link is hands down the better option. I don't even get it but somehow with updates meta made directly connecting to the pc a poor connection that crashes regularly.

Wired connection was good for me the first year I had the quest 2 but constant updates by meta made it worse over time to the point I don't even use it anymore. This could just be a issue on my end though, whos to say. VR really does feel like one of those things where no matter what everyone has a different experience with the software.

btw local wifi connections aren't limited to whatever the downlink of your provider is, but rather the hardware capabilities (so in 99% cases to 940Mbps)

I think even if your headset and pc are using the same wifi steam link still sends that signal out instead of your headset and pc talking directly. You still go into whatever cloud they use.
