Running 2 builds just isn't doable for VOID. They might have 50+ employees, but they're not all developers. I might be mistaken, but for a company of that size you'd maybe expect 5-6 people as full-time develpers.

A team that size really can't run multiple builds. They are already having issues with long-term bugs that need fixing so they can "barely keep up" with the current build as is.

Adding another build could just under double their workload. Just not going to happen.

This ratings stuff isn't as broad as people think, it's incredibly specific and if you know the letter of the law, you know how to work around it.

Realistic tactics to be fair. If it's a dangerous shooter situation that can't be de-escalated a properly executed wall/door shot is always on the table.

Usually isn't done because of accuracy issues, but it's not off the table

There's been occasions of police standoffs where this happened, one was documented where a sniper shot a bank robber through a computer monitor that was holding a hostage

I've stated before that it is possible to censor games solely for console, it is also possible to impliment regional game version with regional changes. These changes won't mean a multiple game branches but simply an adhoc filter or addon added on top, making the implementation requirements less costly and easier to maintain without being the PR disaster that is currently unfolding

In the end consumers have a right to be unhappy the thing they've paid for is being changed, nothing at all is changing that.

The problem happens when the outrange hinges on a misunderstanding on what's been changed, how content rating boards work, and the unfounded fear that we're going to be going farther and farther until we've sanded down all of the edges.

We've done the absolute minimum that we had to do to meet certification and no farther.

Censorship bad but in the cost-benefit equation, hiding the junk of two characters and throwing come cloths onto the trafficked women onto the women of port allow us to do more than we did before because it both gives us more funds to work with AND further extends the reach and requtation of Ready or Not and VOID Interactive.

I've said it a couple places, we will not be offering up refunds because we're changing a couple models. We've informed Steam of the situation and the exact scope of the changes, if they provide refunds, then that's on them.

If the changes we were making were changing the core gameplay loop or making substantial changes to the underlying game, then we would at least offer some sort of compensation.

I heard of the censorship this morning on a news article I read.
allegedly what's being censored is violence, lore or story related events... while it is vague I am left to assume the censorship would also include blood.
the creep drug den house, although the implication felt appalling. it also made the game feel more grounded and less arcade-y
someone mentioned vomit, why the hell would vomit even need to be censored? although in consequential remove many small things and the suffocating atmosphere of the darker levels that enhanced the experience of the game that was trying to cover a plethora of aspects that a swat unit would face from the more "laid back" gas station robbery to the very gritty and unsettling levels that made you go "fucking hell" these people are vile.
I feel like removing that gritty "edge" would do the game a great disservice and just makes it another wanna be swat game that's just a slightly less arcade shooter, something very sanitised and disingenuous
ended up writing something longer than I intended sorry
tl;dr can you confirm officially what is being gutted or censored instead of lettings journos guess and assume
