it's complicated, but Void messed up the damage-cap function, which caps the amount of damage players can receive in a single hit

you take about 200% more damage while wearing steel or kelvar than you did before DLC1 (broken ceramic also takes about 200% damage too)

If you're wearing more than front-only Ceramic, the model will not update unless ALL plates are broken.

However, you can tell if you took torso damage (for example, by having ONLY your front plate destroyed), you can look at the pouch at the side of the character, as this is part of the "torso" zone.

This is correct. Before I bought F.E.A.R. 1 on steam, I had played it all the way through by pirating it. But I decided to buy this single player only game anyways.
