no, because there are other people with the exact same issue who have had it solved by going through the performance thing

while some map tiles may be borked, it is usually just small segments, you have entire maps not working correctly

that is just outright your rig struggling to load the map

there's no fixing it

Hey i seem to be running into a snag, i've tried reinstalling the game for my steam deck, but it closes itself after about 7 seconds during the initial loading black screen. I am trying to run it with preloaded as i am often without wifi.

We’ve seen this issue on Steam Deck because of the actual Steam deck itself. It has a bug where it thinks the game is in the wrong path or not extracting all the files completely.

Yeah unfortunately seems like your steam deck has the non steam game bug. This one is hard to troubleshoot because only some Steam Decks get this bug.

Try this:

1. Open steam in desktop mode
2. Right click the game, and remove from Steam Library (this will delete your save. Backup your save if you have one)
3. On steam, click the button + Add Game on the bottom left and click Add Non Steam Game
4. Click Browse and navigate to Game.exe and click OK
5. Go back to gaming mode and set compatibility again to Proton GE and try opening the game

The game updates and installs sprites as you play. As long as you have internet.

Updating using the .bat just updates the game files.

When i load into the menu my sprite has [Temp] write on it and, when i log into the game, i can see only the head of my avatar, which is far away from where my avatar should be. Hey @gleaming rivet! Do you need to install sprites? No. The game by default install sprites as you encounter Pokemon over the internet. No need to install anything.

Why do we have sprite packs? If you have unstable internet, you can use the sprite packs to install them manually using this Guide.

How to Reset your Sprite Pull:

1. Open your menu in game and select Options.
2. Go to the option named Download Spritesand turn it OFF.
3. Leave the menu by pressing Enter on Confirm at the bottom or pressing B (if you don't, this won't work).
4. Open options again and turn Download Sprites back ON.
5. Save your game and close it.

Old data in your Game folder is crashing or causing issues with your game. To fix:

Lightweight Installer:

1. Open your Game Folder
2. Delete your Data folder (This will not delete your saved data)

Do you need to install sprite packs? No. By default the game will install sprites and all new monthly sprites on its own. This is done as you encounter Pokemon.

ok, easiest fix i can think of is delete the entire custom battler folder
then grab the full sprite pack from over in #announcements, pull the custom battler folder from that and drag/drop it into your graphics folder

the only downside is obviously, if you have any sprites not in that pack, you'd need to readd them to your game

but this will ensure you have fresh files

if the issue happens again, then something on your pc is causing the prblem

you will also not have any autogen sprites, so take that into consideration if you use game-preloaded

Old data in your Game folder is crashing or causing issues with your game. To fix:

Lightweight Installer:

1. Open your Game Folder
2. Delete your Data folder (This will not delete your saved data)
3. Double click INSTALL_OR_UPDATE.bat

App Installer:

1. Open the App -> Click Settings -> Click Open Game Folder
2. Delete your Data folder (This will not delete your saved data)
3. Update the game again using the Installation Menu -> Update Game (this will bring back the data folder)

Afterwards, reopen the game.

I'm havnig a problem with some spirtes, they're not attributed correctly. For example, I was fighting a wild Garbgon (Garbodor - Flygon or Bagon or whatever), and the sprite is an Omastar Aipom

Any new game update, you need to rerandomize the settings you have enabled.

If you have only pokemon randomized, you need to Reshuffle Wild Pokemon

This is done in the Pokemon Center -> Update Man (guy in black suit) -> Click Advanced Settings -> You will see the Reshuffle options

This will fix the issue going forward, but sprites already messed up you might have to fix yourself from the Pokedex.

Yeah without screenshots, I’m not really sure what you are experiencing.

If you wanted to delete them, you can restart your computer first to exit any remaining processes from what you’re trying to do

That means the app can’t find the game files where you installed them anymore. Something might have deleted or you might have accidentally moved the files.

You can reinstall the game and it will reuse your save files, but make sure to keep track where you install the game or make sure it is in your downloads folder in case you have onedrive synching on your computer. Onedrive breaks the game

Essentially you have onedrive setup on your computer. It automatically syncs the desktop, pictures, documents, and maybe 1 other folder by default. So anything you add to those locations, onedrive will automatically try and upload to the cloud

If the issue still persists after, your computer is the issue. It cannot load the tile sets. Look to update your graphics driver or not play in full screen
