For the most part, they do. If you want these alt sprites to appear in game, you have to go to the pokemon`s pokedex page, go to sprites, then scroll through the available sprites to select the one you want

I like Whimsicott/Shuckle since you get prankster for easy stealth rock and sticky web plus encore which makes enemies really easy to exploit. Drifblim/Shuckle also isn't bad. Easy hazards, will-o-wisp, and clear smog to shut down sweepers

Milotic/Shuckle could also maybe toxic stall with recover although I haven't tried it

basically if you go second with the sleep, then their first sleep turn is on the turn that you're using nightmare so you always get at least one hit off with it
