(Assuming) It depends on if they’re in the dex or not or if frog decides to do a Nat dex, if the randomizer looks at the Nat dex or the normal dex

I think(?) frog has mentioned that they’d be available in randomizer so random would be pulling the full dex (whether there’s a Nat dex or not)

Currently, we just got a whole bunch of mons from the Hoenn dex in addition to the Tynamo, Woobat, and Skrelp lines, which is more Pokémon than we usually see in two years worth of additions, so it's unlikely there'll be any new Pokémon very soon

• Steal a prototype weather controlling device before it reaches the weather station
• Gather deep earth samples from a drill in the Fiery Path (and defend it from angered local pokemon)
• Forge incriminating evidence against an Aqua sympathizing sea captain

Aqua Ideas:

• Sabotage a cargo ship delivering goods out of Slateport
• Recover goods from said cargo ship after it sinks
• Steal the tech left behind by Team Magma on Mt. Chimney before it can be recovered

... and I'm just now realizing this is no further than Slateport. Oops

Maybe both teams are trying to open/run a shop in the Slateport market place, both for funding and propaganda, and the early missions could revolve around getting products for the shop and sabotaging the other team’s shop

Actually, now that I've had some time to consider it more:

BOTH teams are trying to get a weather controlling satellite. Aqua steals one from a ship you sabotage in Slateport, Magma steals one from a parcel that's on it's way to the weather facility.

You can help both teams but in the end, both satellites are missing the same crucial component, only one of which is available. You get to choose which team to help and that changes what weather effect is in play during the big legendary battle at the end

Maxie spent all the funding on cool tech and now team Magma needs you to steal more turtlenecks to convert into uniforms

i like the idea of both teams tasking you with taking the generic poochyena both teams use enmasse and having you help them with winning the arms race by making a powerful poochyena fusion that aligns with their goals. so for aqua, the fusion has to be part water, or the other half of the fusion has to at least be part of the water 1, water 2 or water 3 egg groups. but for magma, they want a fusion that isn't water or water 1/2/3, and either resists/is immune to water (or has water absorb), or is super effective against water with its STAB.

if you do either mission or both as a double agent, maybe certain grunts have an extra team member, being your fusion you made for the team, that scales and evolves as the game goes on. maybe even archie and maxie put them on their teams if you do enough missions for their side

Seems like you could make a pretty cool questline for team Magma out of subduing an alpha pokemon that would be unique spawns for that quest in certain areas. They would be fully evolved and fused pokemon accompanied by fused lower evolved forms, of each of the alpha's types. The lesser pokemon accompanying the alpha would be replaced a few times throughout the fight, with a total of 6 such fused pokemon when including the alpha. Other unfused pokemon would then continuously spawn until the alpha was defeated after the original fused pokemon are defeated.

After the battle you would be confronted by the alpha, but in a weakened state, able to be fought and captured.

For Team Aqua you would be opposing people and working on behalf of pokemon, so you would be given the task of opposing trainers encroaching too deeply into natural areas. You would need to navigate to these areas and then fight an expedition of 2-6 trainers who would be level scaled to you, though perhaps a bit weaker. They would be well equipped with held items and consumables. It would need to be a marathon battle to make it challenging. You would have no opportunity to heal up between fights. The fights may be double or triple battles.

After these battles you would be confronted by a pokemon alpha, weakened by the trainers you fought, it would be willing to follow you if you show your strength and capture it in battle.

This sort of questline would benefit from being fairly randomizable and repeatable.

In the case of team magma you would be opposing the spread of nests of powerful fused pokemon encroaching on human settlements.

In the case of team aqua you would be opposong the encroachment of humans into the natural habitat of pokemon.

In either case the pokemon associated with the nest would be swarming and aggressive on that route, making getting to this objective challenging, which could be avoided with repels.

A room has flooded in a team magma hideout and you clear it out fainting water types that moved in (like the wimpod quest but could involve like sealing burst pipes or something)

Steal Pokemon from team magma for team aqua and wise vera (2 in 1 since it could be both sides')

Both teams are opening a shop to fund their organisation and you supply them with fire and water stones (and a reward could even be a charcoal and mystic water)

Catch a torkoal and a peliper for them to use to summon their weather in an small area both teams are fighting over and whoever you give Thier Pokemon too wins the spot

Steal a crate of uniforms from either team for the other one to destroy but let you keep one to later help infiltrate the enemy base (could be a way the player gets the opposite uniform depending on what you have planned for the whole picking a side thing)

Another turf war idea but both teams are trying to transform a area into the perfect environment for their preferred type Pokemon so like a desert for magma and like a swamp or beach for aqua and you choose who's machine to sabotage to prevent their side from winning

2. Manually add new-gen features to the game (this was attempted before, everything broke)

just the moves/abilities, although most generations change something about a prior game. There's a lot of things in this game that are still from gen 5 when this game first came out.

moving to a newer game engine isn't guaranteed, it is a possibility to account for the higher version of Essentials needed

according to the r/PokemonRMXP subreddit, which is dedicated to fan games made in RPG Maker XP, Pokemon Essneitals up to at least v 21.1 works fine
