Hey @tired wing! Are you having trouble with the Pokéradar? You get it from the scientist in Cerulean City's Pokécenter. She gives you the Exp share as a quest reward there, and then will go to Route 24, where she will give you the radar.
When using it, make sure you have a repel active, or else you may only get regular encounters.

Old data in your Game folder is crashing or causing issues with your game. To fix:

Lightweight Installer:

1. Open your Game Folder
2. Delete your Data folder (This will not delete your saved data)
3. Double click INSTALL_OR_UPDATE.bat

App Installer:

1. Open the App -> Click Settings -> Click Open Game Folder
2. Delete your Data folder (This will not delete your saved data)
3. Update the game again using the Installation Menu -> Update Game (this will bring back the data folder)

Afterwards, reopen the game.

You can use the info above to clear out your game data (this doesn't affect your saves) just to make sure the data is correct.

This will revert your randomizer though so you would need to rerandomize.

If it's attack is lesser than its defense, it'll evolve into Hitmonchan. If both are equal, it'll evolve into Hitmontop. You may want to fuse Tyrogue with a Pokémon that has a high attack or defense stat to make it evolve into the Hitmon you want!

If "Allow Legendaries" and "Static encounters" are both ticked off, he claims that there will be no legendaries at all; however, I believe that static encounter, such as Moltres, stay the same with both ticked off, what's the answer?

If your game is slow, that is a direct reflection of your Mac. You can open game-preloaded instead. This is for slower computers. Will take longer to startup, but in game performance should be faster

You can also get its replacement item, the Surfboard, on Route 19, after getting 6 badges (and have the HM already).
