Hi all, random question but does anyone here play Space Engineers 2? i'm wanting a sonar sound premix? I tried using sonar before but it didn't play nice with engine so i'm giving it another try. Anyone able to help a brother out?

can i make an important quality of life suggestion? when i favorite or save a eq profile i should be able to go to another channel tab (media to aux for eg.) ad favorite and see all channels favorited eq profiles in the my presets tab instead of them being separated channel to channel. because currently i need to manually copy the eq if i want the same eq on 2 channels, but i can safe a favorite for a single channel and see only that channels presets, kinda defeating half the point of being able to save presets in the first place... as an example to why i would like this change, i have multiple sound systems i use depending what I'm doing and an eq for each in my aux channel, sometimes i want to move from aux to media channel but use the same speakers and same eq but cant copy an eq from channel to channel that i already saved and favorited in the other channel, sure its not hard to go copy them but it can be tedious, especially considering its probably not hard to change this for quality of life ❤️ hopefully this makes it to the right ears love the program otherwise

Anyone with this same issue? Every single time I awake my win11 pc from sleep my audio is effectively muted. Just started messing with Sonar and spatial audio again. Is there anyway to have only my game on Spatial and everything else on Stereo? I know I can switch a browser to a different preset like Chat, but it will not allow me to switch the audio to my speakers when I change my Windows output device. Is there anyway to switch the presets to my selected Windows output? At the moment, I have to manually switch it.

windows isn't detecting any mics, so sonar can't either (since sonar gets the list of mics from windows) so I'd focus on troubleshooting the connection to your PC and making sure it shows as a detected device.

Hi guys, I need help, I just got some arctic nova 5, I also have the apex pro tkl keyboard and the apex 9 mouse.
The volume rocker on the headset only controls the headset volume and i get that can't be changed, but the problem is that when i try to adjust the volume from my steelseries keyboard, it changes the windows default audio device, in this case, SS sonar - Gaming, so if i have something playing on media, it won't lower or increase the volume, I can always use the headset volume to adjust all of them, but when i turn them off, my speakers kicks in and it is still routing the audio to media and the keyboard only changes the Gaming.

Is there a way to make it work properly? like change the Master instead of the gaming?

Hello guys I was struggling with SteelSeries GG (Sonar) the sound sometimes cutting, glitchy

I tried to Uninstall SteelSeries GG and all derives from device manager then reinstall, even on new pc i built same problem

What worked for me might not work for you but give it a try if you have the same problem ( Uninstall SteelSeries GG and all sound derives for SteelSeries from device manager and restart pc then Install SteelSeries GG version 60-0 also I have moment for clips turned off )

hello everybody.
Is there a setting so Sonar doesn't ALWAYS ACTIVATE ITSELF as the standard setting for audio when I start my PC?
I hate that I always need to to my audio settings to switch back to my normal headset so I can increase the volume.
It's starting to get annoying.
However I do not want to deinstall it as I use Sonar for my microphone to make it sound more clear and have a virtual cable.
Any settings I missed????

i usually just recommend using the option to only share a window/app, since that will make discord only share the audio from the one window/app and not capture sonar

SteelSeries Sonar has “Device Fallback” that will automatically switch the outputs on Sonar.

Fallback can be triggered when a device is unavailable (such as when booting your PC or unplugging a device), or it can switch outputs if it detects if a Nova headset is turned off, and automatically switch to speakers.

This fallback functionality can be adjusted or turned off by going into the settings in Sonar. Simply click on your devices in the Mixer and open the Device Manager in Sonar.

You can also adjust the order in which devices fall back to. This can be adjusted in the same Device Manager menu. Simply drag and drop to set the order of devices.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

Hello, I need help with SteelSeries GG (Moments).

I’ve been using SteelSeries GG mainly for audio mixing and capturing/saving gameplay clips. For the past few days, Moments stopped recording clips completely.

What I already tried:

Did a clean uninstall of SteelSeries GG

Reinstalled the latest version

Enabled Moments and Game Detection again

Unfortunately, the issue still happens and clips are not being recorded.

On top of that, all my previously saved clips were deleted, and I couldn’t find them in the Moments folder .
So I have two questions:

Why did Moments suddenly stop recording clips?

Is there any way to recover the deleted clips, or were they permanently removed?

I’d really appreciate any help or clarification.

Hey, so I've mostly been really happy with my switch to Steel Sonar; can't begin to describe the hell I was in beforel. There us just one huge problem: with the output locked at 96,000, bringing the audio through OBS inevitably causees problems. Three's an immediate effect I recognize as mismatched sample rates, and over time, this gets worse and leads to crashing. I've googled and read everything I cou8old but have foud no answer for scaling the sample rate so the mismatc is gone. How does anyone else handle this? Do I need anothe software step?

rocksmith does not play well with high sample rate audio devices, like sonar. you'll need to disable sonar and make sure the sample rate of the headset is set to 48khz whenever you play rocksmith

hey i have a bug appear now for a couple of weeks, i have an arctis 7 headphone with 2 output channels (game and chat) before in sonar i used to be able to exclude one or the other depending on my mixing channel but now if i exclude the game headset channel it excludes the chat channel too. This is annoying because i used to be able to set a specific headset channel depending on what software i was running and then hotswap between my speakers or headset with channel mapping.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

I'm on a logitech, so it's nothing special. But the volume on the keyboard only controls the game volume when sonar is installed(I'm not using sonar any more for this reason). SteelSeries has a write up basically saying the only way to change master volume is with the slider on the app or with a custom key bind. So they have to be aware of this. It's so unintuitive anytime I'm doing anything other than gaming. Other than that I think the Sonar software is awesome.

When I turn on my Mic, or start a game that activates my Mic (my mic is disabled) it causes my sound to become garbled. I have no idea why, and I'm really not sure how to explain it effectively. Steelseries has a a really incompetent development team handling their GG software. I can say this because every few months they will release an update that breaks the client. Usually the solution is a FULL uninstall/reinstall of the driver. And I mean Full.

I don't remember all of the steps but it involves, uninstalling through windows settings, checking all of the install folders for steelseries mentions and deleting them. Then go into your device manager and do something there

I would wait for the moderators to come back online as they will have better guidence than me. I am just letting you know that this is normal for SS.

It's a real shame that the driver is causing problems again. My first Arctis headset worked so well with the driver back then, but now I'm annoyed by software problems almost every week. This will definitely be my last headset from this brand if they continue to deliver such poor drivers...

Not sure how this relates to a headset, anyone can use Moments (a free piece of software). The initial issue was caused by Nvidia removing functionality from their GPU driver which Moments relies on. They then fixed that during the holidays and clearly missed something that doesn't even affect everyone (works perfectly fine for me and others). You can even most likely fix it by rolling back if it's so critical 🤷‍♂️

Having to uninstall the driver completely to fix it really is not a good solution at all.

It's computer software, there will always be someone unlucky to have issues. That's just an unavoidable fact of life. Issues can and should always be minimized of course but it's a balance between bringing out new features that benefit the many vs introducing possible for the few.

Making a support ticket on the website is always the best course to make sure they are aware of specific issues that you may be having

SteelSeries Sonar has “Device Fallback” that will automatically switch the outputs on Sonar.

Fallback can be triggered when a device is unavailable (such as when booting your PC or unplugging a device), or it can switch outputs if it detects if a Nova headset is turned off, and automatically switch to speakers.

This fallback functionality can be adjusted or turned off by going into the settings in Sonar. Simply click on your devices in the Mixer and open the Device Manager in Sonar.

You can also adjust the order in which devices fall back to. This can be adjusted in the same Device Manager menu. Simply drag and drop to set the order of devices.

My Sonar Chat stopped working in Discord all of a sudden, I've made sure that it's set as the default in both Windows and Discord, but there's simply no sound. When I switch from the Sonar Chat to for example the headset itself as the output device in Discord there's sound

Your default on global windows should always be the gaming mix, Sonar Chat should be set in Discord audio settings.

As for sound. Make sure the Mixer volume for chat is not zero. Then move the active discord app below your chat mix into another mix and back to chat. See if that does anything

Why is sonar for streamers archived? I have audio getting sent to my mic from other sources when I dont even have my mic plugged in! Its like its grabbing audio from game and chat and putting it into my mic when not asked to. Everyone on discord, and my streams can hear what Im listening to even when my mic is muted/or unplugged.

I think I will be switching from Sonar because I cant find any way around it and it ruins my streams and discord calls

Hello all! I've been using the arctis nova pro wireless for years on PC, and recently got the Arena 3 for more non-online gaming sessions.

I'm running into a problem where if I swap between the 2, it doesn't actually change the audio output at all. I also have it set as SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming in my windows.

I mostly want to be able to quickly swap between my headset and speakers when needed.

Nice! You can always try installing GG without uninstalling first another time if you get any problems, then you won't lose your settings.

You can also set it up to automatically switch between the headset and the speakers if you set it up in the device manager with the fallback

SteelSeries Sonar has “Device Fallback” that will automatically switch the outputs on Sonar.

Fallback can be triggered when a device is unavailable (such as when booting your PC or unplugging a device), or it can switch outputs if it detects if a Nova headset is turned off, and automatically switch to speakers.

This fallback functionality can be adjusted or turned off by going into the settings in Sonar. Simply click on your devices in the Mixer and open the Device Manager in Sonar.

You can also adjust the order in which devices fall back to. This can be adjusted in the same Device Manager menu. Simply drag and drop to set the order of devices.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

are you using bluetooth with your headphones? you should try to not use bluetooth and use the 2.4ghz dongle. bluetooth has a quirk where the audio output will change when the mic is active (such as recording through Moments)

just FYI, the old Arctis Pro Wireless predates Sonar, so the multi-channel stuff in Sonar is almost certainly going to conflict with the dual channels on the headset. I would just advise not using Sonar unless you're fully confident in setting it up to avoid this conflict.

Ok I think the issue is that when you talk while streaming your microphone is inputing through more than 1 channel.

Do a test. Make a clip using steelseries moments and see if your microphone is being played through more than one channel. So go through and mute each one and see if your microphone is being played through your audio device.

type windows + r then type in the command tab sndvol a volume mixer will show up and mute discord in the steel series virtual mic tab and also mute discord on your headphones tab. Make sure discord is using steel series chat as the output device. This fix only works if you are streaming while you do it and for me resets every time my pc is turned off.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

Current Setup:

Connection: Using the GameDAC Gen 2 (2.4GHz Wireless). Bluetooth is OFF; I am strictly using the wireless base for gaming.

The Issues:

Directional Audio Confusion: The spatial positioning in CS2 feels completely off. For example, if enemies are shooting at 'Short', it sounds like they are far 'Long' or at the back of 'A Site'. I can't accurately distinguish depth or precise directions, which is making competitive play impossible.

Mic Sidetone/Keyboard Noise: I can hear my own mechanical keyboard clicks inside the earcups while playing, which is very distracting.

What I need:

Does anyone have a specific Sonar EQ preset or GameDAC EQ profile that works best for CS2's new audio engine?

Should I be using 'Spatial Audio' in Sonar with 'Performance' mode, or should I disable it and rely on CS2’s in-game audio processing?

Hello. I'm having issues figuring out Sonar. It doesn't help that I'm not great with computers, so I assume it's mainly user error. I have the Arctis 9 headset. I would like to be able to use the physical wheel to balance sound between my games and chat (discord). I've tried setting up with Sonar OFF by setting "game" to default in my windows sound settings, and setting "chat" as communication default. No luck. I can manage to get some balancing with Sonar turned ON through the ChatMix, but obviously only within the app and not on the physical wheel on the headset. The only way I can get any sound to come through at all with or without sonar is to always have everything coming through either "chat" or "game" devices. I can't split them. I thought I used to be able to do that before Sonar came into my life and confused me. Any help would be appreciated. And I know there isn't exactly a definitive question in this slop of a post, so messaging me might be better. Think your chatmix wheel on the headset only controlls it on a hardware level, which is the 2 audio devices that you get instead of 1 and wont controll sonar since sonar probably didnt exist when that headset was made

If you use sonar you will basically have 2 chatmixes

Tho it should still all work with and without sonar if apps are routed properly

I know that since my old arctis pros had chatmix built into it and i used it with sonar together

So it does all come down to how the sound is being routed on your pc

Would try to make sure that apps are using both the 2 audio channels the headset makes

Check audio mixer in windows search bar, and select both devices for 2 different apps to see if its still working correctly

Like 2 browsers one to game and one to chat and see if chatmix works

I’ve set the audio settings where “Game” is default device, and “Chat” is default communication device. Then switched the apps specifically like this too. Discord being set to “chat” and specific game set to “game.” Audio will work fine until I join a voice channel on Discord. Then all audio mutes. And within Discord settings I’ll have it set to “chat” just like on the windows sound settings. Windows 11 by the way. I feel I’ve done everything right from what I’ve read.

And yea I did finally find that a big issues is the fact that my headset came out before Sonar. What I eventually got to work is just using Sonar as solely the digital mixer. Making my default device the “Sonar Virtual Game Device” in sound settings, then on Sonar having everything “Linked” and set to the same. Then just using that interface.

I just miss the physical wheel haha

if you set your headset gaming device to sonar gaming and headset chat to sonar chat you should still be able to controll it with your chatmix

youre not limited to just 1 device in sonar

That's due to the way Discord handles audio during screen sharing with multiple audio devices. 3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

I’m very new to this but I would like to have the sonar/noise reduction when I am not connected to my own pc ie. Work computer for teams calls. I just got the gg app on my own pc, can I set up presets that will have background noise reduced even when on my work pc and if so can someone help with that

Sonar is required to be running on the machine to function as it's doing the audio processing

not really, i had turtle beach stealth 600 before these and it came with ai noise reduction built in so when getting this headset i was looking something similar on any device or system it completely blocked out everything but my voice. i didnt expect it to always be that good but i need something that can do this for work and gaming

sonar is built ontop of windows features so its not gonna work on any other platforms, not sure about the engine tho

SteelSeries doesn't support Linux but there's a few usermade tools for various products but no Sonar alternative to my knowledge

SteelSeries GG won't launch — process starts then immediately closes
Hi, need help with GG not starting.
Problem: When I launch SteelSeries GG, the process appears in Task Manager for 1-2 seconds then closes. No window appears.
Tried:
Complete reinstall (uninstalled via appwiz.cpl, deleted Program Files/SteelSeries and %localappdata%/SteelSeries, rebooted, fresh install)
Run as administrator
--disable-gpu flag
Checked files integrity — all DLLs present
Error from log:
yaml.ReadFile(C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\db\dbconf.yml): open C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\db\dbconf.yml: The system cannot find the file specified.
Tried fixing manually: Created dbconf.yml with:
production:
driver: sqlite3
open: gg.db
Process no longer crashes immediately, but still no window appears and no new errors in logs.
System: Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (build 26100)
GG Version: 104.1.0
Any ideas?

hey, i used to use sonar with medal, and it was working fine--picking up what i had enabled on stream side, and not picking up what i didnt-- but for some reason it stopped working, and is only recording some things sometimes. i believe it has to do with sonar itself, but i have no other way to test it besides that. any help would be greatly appreciated!
