Good evening, I trust you are all well. It's been a week or so that I have no sound coming through my headphones when connected to my GameDAC , arctis nova pro wired for PC and XBOX, on sonar it shows that there is sound, the bars light up according to sound, but on my GameDAC nothing L & R do not light up when there is sound. When I take the headphones out and connect to my monitor I get sound, no GameDAC connection. I also connect my PC to my tv and set the sound accordingly on PC, through tv and not through GameDAC. When I use my PC for gaming I use my headphone connected to GameDAC and I set my sound to SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming. My drivers are up to date GG version 40.0.0 and GSDK version 2.4.20.0 Not sure what I am doing wrong, Can anyone help?

I also know people with arctis 1 who literally hear what their friends are doing or saying on discord every now and then, surely using a good noise suppressor and moving the microphone away from your mouth a bit will be less annoying but I can't give you more information since I am pending to buy the arctis nova 7 xd

you can try with Nvidia Broadcast if you have an RTX but you can also try steelseries smart cancellation which will make the process automatic

even though possibly if the voices of your friends sound practically as if they were using your headphones they will not be worth anything since they will clean their voices and it will be more annoying xd

If you have the arctis headset selected as your game and chat devices in sonar, you need to then select steelseries sonar: chat as your audio device and the sonar mic as your mic in discord settings

If it’s set to default or the arctis headset itself in discord not the sonar virtual device then it won’t work properly

You can play around with our Noise gate feature coupled with Clearcast AI.

It's pretty easy. Record your voice with the 'Microfon-Test' on the top right. Play it back and you can start applying presets to hear which sounds better for your voice.

I have a bug in Sonar and I'm not sure where the best place to report it is. Everything seems to point me here: After computer comes back from sleep, I sometimes get no audio output from Sonar. It's not consistent and difficult to replicate; the best kind of bugs! To fix, I used to just restart the GG Client but now, I just change the output device in Sonar to something else, play any sound, and then change the device back to what it should be and it works without issue. When it's not working, I can see audio is processed by Sonar because I can see it via the mixer levels but there's no output. This issue is isolated to Sonar because it doesn't occur when sound output is set directly to my soundcard in Windows but of course, I then lose the Sonar EQ. Anything I can do or look for to fix this? The issue has persisted over the last several updates.

1. In Windows, you have a system volume and a Sonar volume. Make sure you Sonar volume is at 100 (max) and the system volume is at whatever you like. I have mine at 25

2. If that's not it, it's likely the spatial audio. Having your 'distance' at max will make the audio seem quieter, or "tinier"

3. Since a previous update a while ago now, the Engine configuration began overlapping with Sonar. So make sure you disable errything, especially thhe bass boost, and set the equalizer to "Flat". The illumination isn't a concern

Yo is there a way to disable GG from chaning its device automatically.

I use GG specifically for my Arctis 7, but if I unplug my headset to use my headset on my Switch, or phone then GG Sonar switches to one of my other Audio devices and I'd prefer if it didn't do that.

But I can't disable those in Windows cause I have my set up connected on my TV, and stereo for when I am playing multiplayer games or watching movies, too.

the newer nova headsets have a smaller dongle that doesn't have a 3.5mm output like the older arctis 7 does, so the fallback will switch devices in Sonar if the headset is turned off, which effectively does the same thing as having speakers plugged into the 3.5mm port on the transmitter on the old A7

Hey Im just making a suggestion, the apex 7 volume knob does nothing if you use sonar to route your audio.
I believe its an oversight. It would be great if you could choose what sonar audio channel the knob controls.

for me it's just on the main mixer screen when you click the cog wheel next to the audio channel. So for specific example on mine it's the cog wheel beside "game" on the main mixer screen

As i had a same issue, i marked realtek hd output speakers as "main output" (Windows sounds settings) - after sonar restart, program promted a message "sonar didn't set as primary...bla bla bla...do you want to fix that automaticaly?" - Yes. That's all...

Performance is the one you are looking for. Immersion will do actually the opposite because it overlaps like "layers" of the incoming sounds to make you feel like you aren't actually wearing headsets. This is done by sacrificing the ability to tell the direction of the sound. That's why you want performance. Performance does some tricks to increase your ability to tell the direction of the sound. Referring to the game settings surround mode, you probably should turn on it, because it usually uses 3D technology to emulate the function of your pinna. But depending of the game, it could get over processed, so if it happens, turn it off.

Hi I just started using Sonar + Moments together and I'm liking it a lot, just wondering what audio output I'd set "audio device" to if I want it to record everything but the chat (so that I have discord in a separate track, my own voice in the 2nd track, and everything but those 2 in the 3rd)

I think at this moment, Moments is only limited to 3 audio tracks, and one of those is always the mic (which you can set just below these options.) So I'd probably just recommend leaving it at default so it captures the Game device?

Hey, I have an Arctis 1 wirelles headset. I recently updated my PC to windows 11. Since then the sound has been too loud. When I set the windows sound to 100% I have to adjust the slider on the headset all the way down, but when the slider is really adjusted to the minimum the sound shifts to my left ear. To fix this issue I have set the windows (and sonar master) sound to 50% and it is fine, but when I add the sound source in streamlabs obs the sound is too low for the software (because I have set windows to 50%). Can someone recommend something to try or is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

Can you elaborate on what you have set? The Sonar mic should be the discord input, and chat should be the output. Both game and chat should be outputting to your headset.

can't turn off that function within GG so your options are:

1. Don't boot GG when your PC starts and only turn it on when you need Sonar
2. Let Sonar become the main audio device and route all your audio through it, including speakers, etc

Smart Volume is on the configurations.. Supposed to keep volume not too loud and not too low depending on the audio source

They did some under the hood volume management in the latest update to improve the overall sound quality without needing to add compression with Smart Volume. So essentially they made it sound better by making it louder, but if you already had the compressor enabled when the overall sound got boosted it coincidently made it sound like trash with smart volume enabled

If I understand it correctly, the different virtual audio devices on the Sonar app are kinda like a set of cable ties, and different audio streams from programs are kinda like cables. You get to bundle programs into differing categories, then you can tweak them by category to sound a certain way.

A GG update or a Windows update? Since sometimes a windows audio service update can break some shit, and then updating GG finally causes the audio drivers to use the new update which does crazy things

With the headset, you have 2 "outputs" for me it's these 2, and the mix-rocker just adjusts the volume for each to a portion of total

You can keep them as default, I was just showing that without using a specific program (like sonar) for specifying what goes where, you'd have to manually change those as needed (EG discord would be (Arctis 5 Chat), and like your default at the top of that screen would be (Arctis 5 Game))

That's ok, those settings basically just take the reigns away from windows in terms of 'audio enhancements'. You can set sonar back to the default, and you want to make sure those same settings are set there if applicable

You definitely don't have to, it only really provides "smart" audio compression and cancellation, I've found (awkwardly) it'll try to auto-select devices that are connected also

I see, that's basically the extend of troubleshooting I can really help with, the next thing I would try is fully uninstall - reinstall the GG application, and set it up without sonar, and then see if it works. If so > enable sonar and test again

that was another issue i was having after the GG update. Volumes were attenuating on their own across the board. once i changed the Do Nothing that stopped but the sounds were still at low levels. i had to go back in and raise them all to 100.

This has probably been asked a lot here before but I couldn't find it: I have the Arctis 7 and sonar doesn't automatically switch to another output when I turn off my headset. I read online that only the nova does this.
In sonar I have the option though, to switch to a different output if you turn off the headset.
It doesn't do anything, so the info I had on the nova seems to be correct. But is there a way to get this behavior after all?

If not it would probably be best to just hide this option if there's only headsets connected that don't support this.

Did you set your Sonar mixer to the headset? There's little drop downs on the mixers, you'll need to set them to your headset for Game and your headset mic for Chat

Probably you have to adjust your Screen display in Windows

In Windows Select Start > Settings > System > Display.
If you want to change the size of your text and apps, choose an option from the drop-down menu under Scale and layout.

Try to go for 100%.

For me, the headset (arctis nova 7P) is off, the dongle is plugged, I turn ON the PC, but the fallback is not activated.

I also enabled and disabled access to the microphone through-> settings-> privacy-> microphone-> access to the microphone for this device-> change-> disable and then re-enable. When using Sonar, my headset is spitting sound out from the wrong ear. When I am in a game, enemies on my left sound like they are coming from the right and vice versa. Restarting Sonar a few times fixes it for a few hours before reverting back.
This tends to happen with the 'front left' and 'front right' sounds

I ideally want to adjust the master through the Windows volume panel, but when I attempt to switch to my main audio device to do that, sonar complains about the primary audio device. But when I adjust the volume through the physical dial on my DAC, it doesn't show the current volume of that device through Windows either (only the one that's set as the primary). But when I adjust the primary device (the gaming one), it only affects the game volume rather than anything else alongside it (Which means, there's a chance that media and chat will be too loud compared to the game output).

On my laptop (this is different from my desktop), I also noticed that everything outside of the chat audio device doesn't seem to want to play, and I'm unsure if it's because a 24-bit 96KHz output is being attempted to be put through a 16-bit 48KHz output (my headphones and speakers on the laptop) or not.

they're just extra outputs so you can control the volumes/EQs easily through Sonar. So you can set music apps to output to music, browser/programs to output to aux, etc.

A workaround I used since the update is basically closing the app in task manager, and then re-opening as Admin. That seemed to get the sound to work for me, although I still can't open the Sonar interface :/

Errytime I reboot my PC, I gotta manually set the default audio from Sonar Game to Media

I also have individual device preferences for apps. I manually set my apps to use Sonar Mic and Game for games and Media for whatever as shown in pic

However, it either resets my preferences to default or the preferences don't mean sit bcuz the audio is whatever my default OS output is (being media)

I have a game that requires me to take it off Game and then put it back onto game JUST to get it to work in the game profile and not the default (being media) erry single time I open it

We've added dedicated shortcuts for master volume and mute. You can find them in the settings page under GG/Sonar/Shortcuts.
Wouldn't it have been more logical to set the shortcut to be the volume wheel key?

Especially on Streamer mode

Now, I really want to use Sonar but the only thing that's stopping me is, when I turn on the sonar, my in-game voice chat volume is set to max...

This happens to me constantly: when my computer boots, when I resume from sleep, if a USB audio device is connected to my computer, if any other audio programs open, etc.

I have to open Sonar and reset it to the appropriate devices multiple times a day. Frustrating, though I love Sonar otherwise.

0. Make sure SteelSeries GG/Sonar is running and open, and in Settings, "Activate Sonar application" switch is turned on

1. Open Sonar's "Mixer" panel, click the gear beside the "Mic" slider, click the "INPUT" dropdown and make you choose "Microphone: Arctis Nova 7". Start a new mic test in Discord settings, does it work now? If not, ...

2. In Discord's Voice settings, scroll to the bottom and find "Audio Subsystem". Switch it to "Standard" and restart Discord. Or if it's already on "Standard", switch it to "Experimental" and restart Discord

3. In Sonar "Mixer", check the "CHATMIX" bar... make sure it's set in the middle, not slid all the way to one side. It's easy to accidentally bump the dial on your headset. Set it to the middle to test.

I use the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headset and Sonar software. I never know what audio settings to select from the audio/sound menus from within the games I play. For example Diablo IV has a drop-down menu for "Speaker Setup". The choices on this menu are: Default, Mono, Stereo, Quad, 5.1, 7.1, Pro Logic. This is typical in other games as well, and I never know what I "should be" selecting to get the most out of my Sonar game profiles. Any help is appreciated.

I can roll the wheel all the way one direction, and then the other, and my Game audio will fade out and in correctly, but the Chat audio remains constant the whole time.

If that's the case, I would recommend going into your audio/sound settings for your PC (assuming you are on Windows)

select your headphones as the default device, sonar chat as the default communication device, and then open GG Sonar

in the top right, use the test sound bar and see if you can hear things

So i don't know if anyone else that streams is having this Problem,
But since the update i had for todays SteelSeries GG software
when i open up NVIDIA Broadcast (i use it for the cam)
it cancels out the Sonar virtual audio device for my mic (headset Steelseries arctis 9)
and the only way i have managed to fix it atm is to Disable it in the recording sound control window for windows
But yet it wasn't doing this before the update, and i have to keep disabling it every time i open NVIDIA Broadcast

I get that its not a big deal its just annoying on my end xD

and i fixed it. for some reason on the game setting it doesnt allow footsteps or player audio but i swaped it to aux and its working. so it looks like if someone is having an issue with it they just need to change what channel it is going through and tune the sonar setting to what they wanted
