Computer has done an update and now the headset it not working as normal.
My 'Game' sound will not work at all.
My 'Chat' sound controls everything.
If I try move everything over to 'Game' sound, Nothing will work.
Everything has to be on 'Chat' to even work.
It's like Game doesn't exist.

Gotcha, in the sonar mic chat you can play with the noise cancelling and noise gate. Also, if you’re using discord voice activation you can play with the sensitivity or whatever they call the slider so that voice activation is not as sensitive

so I have the Acrtis pro NOVA (wireless) headset, when i first got the headset and installed the app on my pc, the side tone to hear my own voice was loud and i loved it. well its been several weeks now and i haven't been able to adjust any side tone what so ever anymore and not sure why. adjusting the side tone on the bluetooth thing thats plugged into my pc barely adjust it. It is so quiet now and i feel like im talking louder in my room than i think i am since its a noise canceling head set. Any way to fix the side tone?

Hi all! I really falled in love with the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but have a big problem with it...

My hear started hurting while using it, 10 mins is more than enough to feel the pain

I feel it's the sealing of the headphones that hurt me, with more sealing I got more pain.

Ordered a Nova 7 to check with the fabric cushions, and seems to be better than before

If it’s on the outside of the ear as pressure you may be able to adjust the headband so they’re not as tight, if it’s in the middle of the ear it is the ANC bump and you can order aftermarket cushions to help like wicked cushions

No, but I have a feeling what your feeling as pain is the ANC bump which is the one thing people do complain about with certain ear structure/shape

Once you do that, you can search YouTube for your specific headset set up as there are now a ton of videos out there with different set up recommendations.

Hey all, apologies if this has already been asked and answered (I couldn't find it). I have an Arctis Nova Pro and I like loud and clear sidetone. I have it set to the max in settings, but it is still very quiet. I can barely hear myself, and if I have music playing, I can't hear myself at all. If the mic was longer, it would reach my mouth and then it would be fine, but it's too short and ends at my cheek.

Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a way to change it?

On My 7+ I find side tone is very dependant on the headset volume. If I adjust the headset volume to max (using headset scroll wheel) I get a nice strong side tone, then turn down the volume of other apps e.g music in windows. Kind of defeats the point of having the on headset adjustment but if you want a strong side tone may be the only option.

try this @winged mantleuninstall gg yes uninstall to do this goto search type control panel enter control panel top right if it says catagory drop it down and select large icons this will show the proper control panel apps then scroll to find and click "programs and features" then in the window scroll until you find steelseries and highlight and click uninstall then click back until your in control panel again and click "explorer file and folder options" then select "show hidden files, folders and drives" click apply and ok close goto c drive and delete steelseries from "programfiles" and " programfiles (x86) " and "programdat" unplug your device reboot and before you plug back into a different port install gg login to your account plug your device back in and activate sonar ....... it should then work properly

If allowing access or not using a VPN to log on does not help you can try a completely clean install and if you scroll up for @sleek horizon comment he lists a procedure to do so

Those may not save if you delete all of the remaining files when you uninstall.

I had a windows update last night and i think that killed my sonar/headset connection. If i have everything set up correctly, like i had before, my headset wont play any sound but sonar will show that it is playing (the bars go up and down etc).
my chatmix is in middle, my left earpad wheel is up cuz i can hear sound if i change my audio device in sound settings

any idea if this is a Sonar issue or a windows issue?

If everything is set up right, you can try and unplug the usb from the pc for 10 secs and try another USB.

If that doesn’t work, maybe a clean uninstall and reinstall and if you scroll up or look for dogeatdog434 posts you’ll see he copies a procedure to do so that may help

You can always boost bass even more to have more of the hard hitting stuff. Increase the 200hz range by like 3-4 dB with a Q of 1 for example

Okay guys, 1 more thing. Lets say I am listening to music whilst playing MW2. When I start shooting (aka, loud noises) the music almost appears to get supressed (gets quieter) than the game.

This is whilst using sonar obviously.

Any idea why this would be happening?

The best way to describe it is, its almost like the sound of gun shooting is being "prioritised" to the music.

No, sorry. I'd try doing a clean install of GG and see if that fixes it. Alternatively, all of the Engine settings can be accessed through the base station with the dial for any actual headset settings you may want to change

Hey guys, so I have been digging on this issue I have with the sidetone being too low for my liking. It looks like there was a firmware update that explicitly lowered it because it was causing issues when the mic was retracted inside the unit.

So my question is this, is there a way to go back to the firmware it had out of the box? Some places said to stick a pin in the little hole in the left speaker, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

I just used a custom name since I have a different EQ for the NPW I was using before I made that one and have another custom EQ for my Blue Yeti so yeah you can just use the Default option, unless you want to rename

Sonar has a bunch of music-specific presets now. It all depends on the kind of music you listen to so I'd say just select one of the presets for your favorite type of music and tweak it to your liking

If it’s a communications program and it lets you chose the input/output yes. Some games will have one output for the main audio (set that to sonar game), one voice chat audio (set that to sonar chat), and the mic input (set as sonar mic)

do all Arctis 7s use Sonar now? or are some available still with dual audio devices?

Does voice meter let you chose input and outputs? If it does you can chose sonar gaming for the main audio output and sonar chat for comms output, then sonar mic for input

In sonar you need to have Headphones (arctis 7) selected for both game and chat, then mic (arctis 7) for mic. @edgy whale but I’ve never used vm so not sure how it jives with sonar

hello, I am thinking of upgrading my headset from arctis 7 to nova 7, my only issue is that i got use to the auto switch from headset to speaker and vice versa (on the arctis 7 you connect the speaker to the dongle), but i don't know how it will work on the nova 7 since it does not have connection on the dongle (as far as i know), i have seen some explanation here on the chat history how to manage that, so i said lets try to mimic it on my arctis 7 (to connect the speakers directly to the pc instead of the dongle) and try to achieve that with sonar, so far... it does not seems to work, sonar does not switch from headset to speakers automatically (the sonar output on windows sound settings does not disappear when headset turn off), maybe is it because i can't mimic it with the arctis 7 dongle?, can someone please share some information that can help me with that?

If the game has a surround sound setting then yes, if it’s only stereo then enable that. Just not mono.

Some have better positioning than others so you will have to play with the sonar settings and experiment if you like sonar spatial on or off

Device fallback settings aren't togglable, even with my Arctis Nova Wireless Pro headphones connected. Clicking it or holding click on the button just has it stuck in the middle of the toggle (see attached photo)

If I set my output device in Sound (windows) to "Headphones Arctis 7+" then it will swap back to my speakers just fine when unplugged but the chatMix wheel does not work at all
but if I set it to "SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming" then the chatMix wheel works fine.... but I have to manually swap to the speakers every time I unplug the headset (and back to the headset every time I plug it in again....)
I am unable to get the chatMix wheel to work what-so-ever without SteelSeries GG application...

This is a question even on Amazon from other customers I see.... Can you actually not have both? Previous Arctis 7 headsets had no trouble with this.

The resolution to this was to use Sonar and when I unplug the headset I just have to manually close the SteelSeries GG application (not minimize, completely exit it) because the virtual audio device doesn't exist without the application running so windows will default back to the speakers.

I should not have to do this though. They have an option for device fallback for the Nova headsets, no reason to not have it for 7+

Most, if not all of the audio/sonar software related issues we see here is because the set up is not correct or has been updated by some device, program, or update.

Follow the guide below for Sonar, and the link after that for Discord. In some games you will also need to make sure the audio input and output is pointing to the correct devices.

if your playback device in sonar game is listed as headphones (Artic game) , your chat mix below that is mix 50/50, and the physical roller on your headset is in the middle, it's probably something you should ping support on using that link I posted just before this

one suggestion i'd make is to reinstall GG, but don't click the prompt in engine that says "additonal software required"

that "additional software" is DTS, which can conflict with Sonar

since the Arctis Pro Wireless released before Sonar was a thing

i have a suspicion that it could be that. a lot of laptop manufacturers ship their own audio software with the PC, so there could be things like that interfering with Sonar's audio. A quick google search comes up with IntelliGO and Waves

Good evening everyone! I could use some assistance, I have an Alienware x17r2 and I just bought the Nova Pro Wireless and I cannot get sound out to the base station when using sonar. I have set all the sound outputs to the nova pro wireless in sonar, the only way I can get sonar to see the output is to set sonar game as the default. Anything other than that I may get sound back but loose the mixer and sonar may complain about the devices not being selected correctly. I can see where sonar sees the output but it never makes it to the base station. I can disable sonar and the sound works like normal but you loose the mixer function. Basically the same situation as D3phault from earlier today.

Yea everything is set as the help section shows, sonar even registers the output on the visualizer but no output to the base station. I do have the intelligo APO and Dolby. I have disabled all of them but still no dice. I've also tried to uninstall but as it was reported earlier it just automatically reinstalls it.

I'm wondering if this is a Dell thing D3phault said he had a g15 I believe with the same APO. This kinda sucks I've bought 3 of these headsets for different computers and I may have to return two due to them both being Alienware

Hey guys!
I just got the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless after owning a Arctis 7 for a few years. Now I wanted to setup all the stuff and the Chat Mix thing doesn't work on Discord.
I put theOutput for the PC Sound on "Sonar - Game" and in Discord I put "Sonar - Chat" as output. Now when I try to lower the game sound, it goes down but lowering the Chat sound doesn't change anything for the Sound of people talking

Can you help me? 😄

@ancient shuttleright before you do anything else gg may need to be reinstalled ... yep you added a new piece of hardware gg does not like change so follow this exactly : #1043928169784287342

Ill try it then, i played with sonar on MW2 and i get the feeling that some sounds are either on hard echoing or just a little bit muffled (like the gun sounds)

It works for the Gaming "channel" but not at all for the Chat "channel"

Hey All, I've been digging around but this is my last resort for getting an answer. TIA for help!!!
I need Sonar + Chatmix(Dac/wheel) to work on PC/Win11/Warzone, because doing it on UI just doesn't make sense.
even If I disabled sonar just using SteelS gaming / chat as separate channel doesnt work, I can't hear the game completely (did default sound / chat in windows 11 aswell)

just joined for this problem myself... Only way to get it working is replugging the DAC, it works till pc reboot. Using sonar for game/chat with playback on nova pro

hahaha f10 works mute game sound while on controller, I assume f9 should work too but for now strangly no one is playing loud music or heavy breathing into the mic

every time i open the gg app the sonar is being stupid. the configs and everything save, but the actual sonar isn't activated. its so inconsistent and random and buggy i hate it. please fix. and this is if gg even opens to begin with (had that problem for a while now too)

I'm honestly seconds away from asking for a refund... I was really excited for the Nova Pro Wireless Headset for PC.. but Wow, the sound and mic quality are horrific.. I want to believe it's a me issue, but compared to my Antlion wireless mic and Senheisser Dac/amp combo.. Every single friend and my girlfriend has said I sound like I'm speaking through a McDonalds drive thru, and no matter what Noise cancelling option, I can even heard my own voice (NOT Sidetone or other settings, the actual Headphones don't keep sound out) I don't know... I thought for this price I'd get something better.

Anyone with any suggestions or thoughts ? Willing to try, but I'm really not impressed at the moment

Even playing with EQ, for a laugh I tried the Sonar software with my default wired setup, and yikes, it was night and day clearer and positionally better.

Super bummed right now..I'll give it one or two more days of testing, but no guides or review I watched had settings that wowed me or fixed anything to make up for the price tag

sonar is completely broken for me. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of the hardware capability to have mutliple channels instead of routing it through software.

Not a thing. Works fine if I select Headphones Arctis Nova Pro Wireless driver directly, but no separation from gaming/VC

reloaded sonar, rebooted machine, etc.

If you are having issues with sound I would highly suggest checking all of the sound/device settings in sonar and windows, specially if you updated Nvidia express install yesterday.
