@stoic sierra for future reference, every GG auto-update seems to brick ChatMix functionality. Just unplugging it from the PC and plugging it back in should fix the issue

Yeah…it’s kinda unfortunate because usually webcams don’t need specific hardware or drivers on Xbox, as long as they support the video format needed. And in my case the console also identifies the mic on the webcam as usable. But for standalone mics there’s the same issue you find with headsets and I guess that’s also the reason why the Arena 2.1/5.1 speakers can be used with PS5 but not with Xbox.

It would’ve been useful for living room playing

The point is I can’t really justify another headset just for the Xbox…I already own the Nova Pro Wireless which I use with my Switch and my PC on my desk. I might just plug them with the 3.5mm jack on the controller and call it a day.

I had the same issue...

it turns out that Windows 11 likes to auto-update drivers and installs an older version of the Steelseries GG runtime on top of the drivers...this breaks Sonar

I resolved my issue uninstalling the specific Windows Update, Steelseries drivers, then rebooting and, before installing GG again, I paused Windows Update.

after the installation i re-enabled them

it has worked as expected since then

It might work for you as well, I don't know if you have the same issue as me without any more detail.

Hello, I'm joining this group because I just bought the new steelserie nova pro wireless headset, unfortunately I can't get it to work with my audio configuration, which only works with the elgato wave link software that comes with my microphone. Did you have any ideas or anything? I'm French so excuse me if I have trouble making myself understood

In theory, you should be able to use the Elgato software for the mic and GG for the headset.

I removed the windows update for the SteelSeries driver. You should be able to find it under the optional updates of Windows Update.

Have you installed SteelSeries GG? Even if you don't use it you need it for the headphones drivers and firmware updates.

I've gotten all the drivers from Windows update (running w11), and it recently installed some steelseries thing 1.0.4.0, everything seems to be working fine after a reboot

Search -> Windows Updates -> Updates History -> Uninstall an Update -> search for steelseries -> Uninstall

Mmm...if you need to use Sonar you can always pass your Elgato microphone as mic input for sonar. Honestly, I don't understand which type of setup you are trying to achieve, I think it's just human error and here it's hard to follow this stuff.

I can help you if you tell me the chain that you want/need to make work. Otherwise it might be faster to just ask SteelSeries support on chat 👍

What do you mean? I use both software on my PC, I have some Elgato stuff myself...but there are at least 5 different reasons why sound wouldn't come out 😅

1. Wrong output selections in Windows
2. Headphones need to be paired again after a software update
3. volume turned down from the windows mixer by mistake
4. chatmix all the way to the chat side
5. output not correctly selected in Sonar

I don't know if any of these 5 can help you. Nothing else comes to mind atm.

You can use the auxiliary input for injecting a second audio source in the GameDAC. The USB sources can be used only one at a time.

I prefer to use my capture card as the audio source for the second PC. Then I can mix the audio from OBS.

In Warzone you can set your audio preset in game. A lot of people use Boost high. I'd recommend trying Midnight mode.

So I took apart the Nova Pro wired DAC to understand what's inside lol

They use ESS Sabre for the output DAC. I think the reason why the SNR is lower and the overall output is slightly compressed sounding is because of the Realtek chip being used for internal EQ. Not sure if this is too much of a nerd talk but it's interesting to see the design

Some people prefer FPS focused EQ which to me sounds pretty bad overall. Supposed small boost to footsteps for example but at the expense of everything else. It also depends on your ears, ear chape, and EQ preference

Some people like V shape which is a bass boost and treble boost. Some like flat/reference which is as it sounds

That's a general tune that works well with most games and music. Get's rid of some harshness, fixes some weird drops, and has some good bass effect. You can 0 out the 20hz boost if you want closer to FPS bass

Hello everyone, just a quick question.
I got a new mouse, with some extra buttons. The mouse in question is the Aerox 5 (shouldn't really matter for this tho).
Got the mouse because I need those extra buttons on my gamming, and thus I want to reconfigure them (majorly because 3 of them are by default linked to F1, F2 and F3 keys).
Seeing as there is no way of doing it via Windows stuff I downloaded the software from the Steelseries website "Steelseries GG".
First thing that caught my attention was that for a mouse software it was an almost 300MBs download, something seemed fishy.
After installing and running GG I got a Login prompt (optional ok, nice) and I got a Store.... well now everything is obvious why someting so simple is this heavy, anyway, the problem is obvious here.
So, I will not even present my opinion on useless software and waste of resources, therefore, skipping my opinion on this my question is: Is there a way I can have my mouse configs running without having this program running?

This is how it’s sadly supposed to be. Virtual audio devices take processing power to work, and if they increased it to what you’d like and expect that’d come at a big cost. Basically they have to lock the audio quality to very specific numbers

Nova pro wired aims towards high fidelity, high quality audio, Nova pro wireless aims towards.... wireless tbh that's really it. Technically the max audio quality the wireless uses is less than the wired but it's not noticeable at all (ignoring the fact that you may notice a difference just becasue wired vs wireless, wired will sound more pure I'd imagine (I don't own the wireless' though so I'm not entirely sure)) wireless also has active noise cancellation but other than being wireless, also having bluetooth, and anc. There's no real difference, they both do the same stuff on a firmware level.

Just got the Nova 7P for my PS5. They sound great but they’re way too loud at the “Max volume” that Steelseries tells you to set your PS5 to when using them. If I turn down the volume on the headset itself, the bluetooth audio from my phone becomes way too quiet.

What would be the best volume level to set the ps5 at so that I keep quality sound without blasting my eardrums?

You can reduce PS5 output volume as low as you need to to be comfortable. It's not going to drastically hurt your sound quality

Sonar has to be active. Within Sonar, go to Mixer and set both chat and game to your Nova Pro headset. Within Discord, choose the SteelSeries Sonar - Chat device for your output device

You can adjust the eq for either the microphone or the game audio to fix that probably I fixed my nova’s higher toned microphone using sonar’s mic eq
