All who have the fatal error at Sonar after the "precious" update yesterday : uninstalling the app, new downloading it from steelseries homepage and reinstalling it fixed the issue for me. started pc new after uninstalling and reinstalled right away. now it´s working again. unfortunately all settings had to be made again.

Normally it wont work but you can use a script to change your keyboards volume wheel to send a different input and bind it in sonar

I found out that f keys exist from 1-24 and only first 12 are aperantly binded to commands in windows

So in my case volume up and down i binded to f13 and f14 respectively

check the order of your headset fallback in the device manager

SteelSeries Sonar has “Device Fallback” that will automatically switch the outputs on Sonar.

Fallback can be triggered when a device is unavailable (such as when booting your PC or unplugging a device), or it can switch outputs if it detects if a Nova headset is turned off, and automatically switch to speakers.

This fallback functionality can be adjusted or turned off by going into the settings in Sonar. Simply click on your devices in the Mixer and open the Device Manager in Sonar.

You can also adjust the order in which devices fall back to. This can be adjusted in the same Device Manager menu. Simply drag and drop to set the order of devices.

the newer keyboards don't have onboard lighting, so you need GG open for any lighting customizations to work. things like actuation/bindings do save onboard, so it's possible that the right config is active, but the lighting isn't.

the gamedac uses an analog 3.5mm connection so it's not going to know what's plugged into it. it's just gonna show as a nova pro no matter what. it shouldn't affect what options are available in engine/sonar

the keycaps on the site don't have foam, but the foam is just there for acoustics/feel, so having keycaps without it shouldn't affect performance

The lighting effects stay working at all times when this happens. I have a key fade plus an idle timer. When they key presses stop responding in windows, the key illumination still happens even the fade when I press buttons on the keyboard.

Sometimes, if I'm hitting the right arrow to skip ahead in a YT video when it goes to freeze, it'll act like I'm holding that key down until I unplug and plug it back in

you don't need sonar for the headset to work. a good test to narrow down hardware vs software issues is to turn off sonar and just set windows to output directly to the headset and see how it goes.

I'm using the mute and unmute function of the steelseries software a lot.

A while ago I was able to see the Muted and Unmuted overlay showing by the software in game in CS2 but that's not the case anymore.

I did not change anything, the only thing which might could affect this is that I've tried to stream with OBS one day on twitch, but I can not remember making any settings there which could affect this.

In the Steelseries Settings I have "Display Overlays" set to on, and in Windows I can still see them.

Hi, I have had my steelseries Arctis Nova 7X for a few months now and they have been working fine but I have gone on to my xbox today and they wont conect. I have tried turning them on and off, turning the xbox on and off, hard reseting the headset and unplugging and plugging the dongel back in.

Analog audio devices are headsets/speakers that use the 3.5mm headphone jack as the primary way to connect to the PC or console.

Please note that analog headsets use your on-board audio drivers to run the headset. Due to this, analog headsets are not compatible with SteelSeries Engine and will not show up on the device list in Engine.

If you are having audio issues, here's a few steps to try:

• Reseat all cable connections to verify they are fully plugged in. The 3.5mm connection will require that the cable be plugged in fully for correct audio. Make sure all connections are clean and free of dirt. Additionally, please check that you have the correct end of the cable plugged into your PC, as some SteelSeries Nova headsets have unique cables that must have the correct end plugged into the headset.

hi, i have no devices showing up in sonar anymore. i got off my pc about 6 hours ago. turned it off and when i turned it back on nothing in sonar was working. it kept giving me error codes. i uninstalled sonar, shut down pc and turned it back on and reinstalled sonar. the error code is gone but now so is everything i had set up. it cant find any devices, i have the most up to date drivers, and the masters tab has no options at all.

it's all in one big database, you can't really save certain device configs separately

Whenever im setting up sonar or enable it, it always swaps through to my monitor audio for some reason. I checked all the outputs and made sure they were setup but to no avail, it is still not working

SteelSeries Sonar has “Device Fallback” that will automatically switch the outputs on Sonar.

Fallback can be triggered when a device is unavailable (such as when booting your PC or unplugging a device), or it can switch outputs if it detects if a Nova headset is turned off, and automatically switch to speakers.

This fallback functionality can be adjusted or turned off by going into the settings in Sonar. Simply click on your devices in the Mixer and open the Device Manager in Sonar.

You can also adjust the order in which devices fall back to. This can be adjusted in the same Device Manager menu. Simply drag and drop to set the order of devices.

I been using this software for years with this issue randomly reappearring. In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

I had an older Arctis 7 which just worked. The ChatMix just worked. No software required, it just, flawlessly, worked. Now, I have an Arctis Nova 7, due to the my Arctis 7 going out on me after a LOT of years of wonderful service. I thought, yeah, I want to stick with this headset because I loved it! Man, that was a mistake. The newer headset barely works. If the SteelSeries software isn't open, it does nothing. If I open it, it doesn't always remember which things route to which outputs. After I get those set up again, quite often the ChatMix on the headset doesn't work. It's one thing after another. Why did they make this horrible choice to switch to software instead of leaving the thing that worked just working?

volume knobs only adjust windows main system sound, while sonar splits your sound into multiple devies so only one can be adjusted like that

since sonar needs the gaming channel to be set as windows default for chatmix your volume knob will affect that channel only

Hey all, I am having some issue with my audio playing from the headset when using Sonar. I remember there being a setting that let me choose the output device, but i can't seem to find it and I think that may be my issue. the GG app is showing its getting audio from the pc (like chrome).

try a audio reset in windows -> open soundmixer and at the end is a reset button.

why does sonar make my default audio device SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming? do i need to have that set for stuff to work properly? because I prefer having my default as my headset due to frequently using my sound settings on my keychron keyboard (mute, volume down, volume up etc,) which doesn't work with SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming as my default... :/

hey im not able to clip anything in valorant with GG. I've been using GG for a year now and suddenly when I use the macro I have set nothing gets clipped. It works in other games, just not valorant. GG is detecting that I'm playing Valorant so it's not a detection problem. Whats going on here?

okay, and i spilled the drink around 12 hours ago, ive already let it dry, held it upside down, used compressed air on each key, used a dry towel, and now that i tried plugging it back in and using the keys, all the keys seem to work fine and dont cause any mnalfunction or key spamming

oh and also some pieces unfortunately broke off while i was removing the keys such as small parts of the enter key

depending on what you're doing:

• if you just want one thing going to speakers (like music) you can set one of the VADs to output to the speakers and leave the rest on the headset
• if you want the speakers to repeat the exact same thing going to the headset, you can turn on streamer mode and set the stream output to the speakers

I've recently bought 2 additional batteries for my nova wireless as a backup and i'm wondering if i have to keep them charged every few months or so? Do they have some shelf life or sth? How to keep them healthy?

for any batteries sitting at 50% charge is the best for longevity

since thats when they get the least amount of stress, could do 60% since they discharge slowly

Would anyone know why steel GG would suddenly stop outputing game audio?

1. GG crashed, but it can just be fixed by restarting it
2. the output in Sonar changed to something else, but it can be fixed by changing the output back
3. windows update broke the audio system, but it can be fixed by either #2 above or by just re-running the GG installer to fix the audio without removing your settings

I've re-installed the gg multiple times. It outputs media, chat my mic but it ignore game audio altogether.

is the chatmix wheel on your headset set correctly? if it's set all the way to chat it would mute the game audio

you'd still have a virtual chatmix slider in sonar, but that should reset to the middle on reinstalls

it's literally just the game audio. Doesn't matter what game I choose, I get nothing, yet all other non-game related audio works

It's wierd because if I move the game over to media, I get the game audio output and can hear the game. As soon as i put it back under game it stops.

when ever I turn off my headset my sonar outputs get reset to (realted(R) audio) and I can't hear anything, I've read that there is a '"automatic device backup" under the sonar tab in the settings of GG, but I can't find it. is there anything else I can do to stop my audio changing everytime I turn my headset back on, or am I going to have to get use to resetting my outout every time

shot in the dark, but maybe try turning on/off spatial audio in the "game" outputs in GG and see if that helps?

Guys, I need help with my Steelseries Arctis Nova 1 headset. I'd like to hear it from you if any of you know the solution.
So basically I've updated my graphics card driver and after that, my PC stopped detecting any mics or headsets. It doesn't detect input or output. I also tried Steelseries GG app but it doesn't detect my device either.

It's probably about the Realtek Audio driver but I don't know how to solve it. I've checked "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" from Device Manager but I can only see NVIDIA's driver.

Recently ran into an issue with wireless not working on steelseries tkl wireless keyboard, just one day took it off charge and didn't connect to dongle, i've reinstalled .gg no fix and tried the dongle in another port etc, when i switch it into that mode the lights flicker in white from f1-12 on my keyboard, but still doesn't turn on, is there any fix for this?

Got a question, I have Default as Game and Mic, In discord I have it as chat like you are suppose to, but if I try to watch a screenshare from a friend the volume is like 1%, but if I change discord from Chat to Game I can hear the stream just fine, am I missing some setting to make it so that I can hear the stream while its in the chat setting?
