Hey everyone, I've been having an issue on my Apex 7 basically since I got it. Customised profiles will get randomly deleted or overwritten by eachother, including their names changing. Engine doesn't do that for any other peripherals I have attached, just the Apex 7 specifically. I can't figure out what might even be causing it, just sometimes when I start up my computer all the profiles will be messed up/randomised. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Hi there, purchased a new apex pro kb and aerox 5 wireless mouse. I have Prism set up with the correct illumination--but if I close the GG app, the apex pro goes back to default lightning rather than what I saved (steelseries orange preset). Any thoughts?

Prism only works if GG is running in the background. If you want to have custom lighting without GG running, then you need to manually save the custom pattern to one of the memory profiles on the board through the Engine tab in GG. Same thing for the mouse. The color pattern needs to be saved directly to the mouse to get the pattern if GG isn't running

Yep, GG runs in the background - I was advised by 2 diff. ASUS techs to uninstall Engine & use Win 11 optional drivers for my mouse & keyboard. Is the GG Engine not optimized to run in the background via Win 11? What a drag !

I’ve disabled (all possible) unnecessary background processes on the Strix.

I’m gaming an early-access game (not AAA top tier games). Game needs optimizing - but dev only knows when - that’s a factor, as well.

No bsods tho’ - so I can’t throw rocks at GG Engine as far as stability. I really wanted to make the most of the GG Engine..Strix & Scar run on the 🔥side of thermal, normally - constant 73°C - 77°C while gaming casual games.

Hoping for better thermal results running GG Engine with Omen 💻, “shakes” rooney🫡

Tried it… didn’t help, the toggle was on. But I hooked the DAC up on my work laptop and downloaded the GG software and it worked perfectly. So I’m just not understanding why the hell is won’t work on the Mac when my buddy just sat his up and worked.

A lot of Sonar relies on Windows specific features that macOS doesn't have, so it would require a lot of resources to rebuild those features for mac. So while it would be nice, I do see why they haven't

It was running fine...then i get this and GG is stuck on a gray screen. Using task manager to force stop and then running GG fixes it.

I get this issue literally like twice a day. Super annoying, since it can happen when im in a call (it stops all Steelseries products from working until I fix it). I contacted Support, sent logs and everything...a week later they finally said "sorry! we know this is a bug but theres no fix for it"

Having said that: With "QuickSet" you can select different lighting and different settings per Game. Someone pointed out how to enable it even without an Apex Pro Keyboard in the #quickset-home channel.

Yeah, QuickSet can link hardware and lighting profiles together with a game, but it's not exactly the old style of lighting being onboard and being linked to a hardware profile.

you can use the built in editor for recording a macro/editing the recorded macro, but you can't write code for it

beucause in some games want 1 key or other to be toggled down and other marcos it also can help if you can remove the other

you don't need to make a macro for that. just set the key to whatever button you want and then use the options on the bottom of the keybinding menu to toggle hold the key.

macros can't hold a key since a macro has to "end" at some point, so it can't end if it holds a key down forever

I did. They asked me to send a bunch of logs, which i did. after a couple weeks they responded saying its a known "bug" and theres nothing for me to do except live with it until its fixed. this was a year ago

engine does work on mac. newer macs are missing some features like mouse acceleration/macros but it does still work. here's a 2024 mac mini running GG.

I’ve been wondering that since I bought my Artis Nova Pro since I got them for my Xbox Seres-X

The closest thing I’ve found so far is “guessing and replicating” the sonar EQ settings to the 10 adjustable EQ frequencies on the dongle with the ONE adjustable custom preset.

Now you Can save multiple “custom” presets with settings & label on the Engine program with the Steel Seres App on your PC. But only 1 is available on ur dongle at a time.

And from what I can tell. The Dongle hasn’t and WONT get any other game presets other than the original 18 that comes on it.

When it only makes sense that we pick and choose the game EQ presets that are available for us to use on the dongle for the games we play…….

Hell Let Loose 1600 dpi, 4 Deceleration, 15% sense and 10% ADS. Smooth, but you have to practice movement and learn to adapt for recoil. 5 Decleration would be okay but remember that you defeat the 1600 dpi movement going past 5. 800 dpi its recommended for HLL but if you use a wrist movement versus arm movement it doesn't give you a good turn around. it's a marriage between high dpi and in game sense so play with it until it fits your game style.

arctis nova pro wireless .. gg crashed on update, straight up crashed. so i am fed up enough with it, i uninstalled it. yes i know it is "useful" or "needed" but that is a bunch of crap, also uninstalling it left everything left over from it, a bunch of crap in the registry, i cleaned it all out .. the uninstall .. i am not sure what it actually did because i am pretty sure everything was still in place after the uninstall. well i am thinking i probably won't buy any more steelseries products .. the mic on my headset is already broken and i've only had it 2 years .. i will eventually try to do a warranty replacement .. i am just really, really unhappy with the product. for the price? shakes head this headset is probably worth $20 and not $350

so fix gg's uninstall to make it actually uninstall stuff .. and fix gg to make it actually worth having on my system .. then i will think about reinstalling it. maybe.

GG isn't really required to use the headset tho, you can change pretty much every setting through the transmitter box

I know macOS is not a priority, because. Well, why would it?

However, I do have several issues with the app, such as being unable to set up macros.
My current solution is to boot a Windows VM, connect the keyboard to it and add the macros to the board. But it's annoying.

Is there a good alternative to GG for macOS?

I personally dont see that happening. Their focus has switched to the app and giving new Sonar profiles for console use. So that wouldn’t make any sense to use the resources on something that would benefit so few and even fewer in the future as more and more headsets get mobile app support.

There’s probably memory limitations that prevents them from adding more and removing old profiles would just annoy those using them.

Been a steelseries guy for a while, so i got all of it. I'm not that good at gaming, so sometimes things go airborne, and there was a casualty - my wired rival 600 finally quit. Since i got big hands, i went with another rival 600, but this time - wireless. Thing is, since i have it, my rgb's are living their own life. Switching to random prism presets, sometimes seems like prism quits entirely(always only on start-ups) because it's just white rgb's on keyboard (Apex pro) and mouse goes on a random profile. Any ideas? I've reinstalled GG twice now, and i even did a full windows reinstall somewhere along the way. Oh, and while ingame (CS2) the quickset profile switches back and forth, sometimes also resulting in the headset(Nova Pro) reconnecting, so for me it seems like the whole platform quits every once in a while

For anyone having that static sound issue with the Arctis Nova 5, turn of spatial audio in the windows volume settings. I think it does this because the steel series software has its on spatial audio feature. The issue with these headphones is that they have way tooo many mechanics. The sonar option is aggrivating, the number of equilzers and volume limitters is INSANE AND BEYOND MISLEADING. THe sound is great yall are just doing too much

Don't know if this is the channel to post this. I was disappointed with the lack of features and apps on the OLED Screen so Im working on a Engine App that puts it all into one. So far I have a Home with a Clock and Modules at the top that includes volume, battery, weather, caps/num lock, etc. These top modules scroll so you can have as many as you want. Theres also Google integration for dedicated pages like calender events, todo, etc and notification pop-ups for Gmail. I'll be posting a Github soon if anyone cares to support or help.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

Hello! Has anyone ever had any issues when creating a new profile in engine and when trying to quick record an input for one of the mouse buttons, it doesn't record. or when it does, it doesn't save? I've also tried editing already existing profiles and sometimes it will let me change one of my mouse buttons but then wont let me edit/save or change others.

Yeah it would be insanely helpful if it was possible to do it directly through the mouse.

The SteelSeries mouse I use measures in CPI so if it we were able to multiply the vertical CPI compared to the horizontal CPI that would be amazing.

Like a ratio of 1H-1V would be the same but 1H-2V vertical wood be twice as fast as horizontal CPI
I'm not sure how you'd be able to implement it though.

I know the gen 2 version of the rival 3/rival 3 wireless has split sensitivity, not sure if it's something that saves to the mouse or not.
