We did R0.1 and possibly R0.2 and etc as needed then once we got to R1, the first recommended build, we stopped doing point releases
R1 meant we had API for new things that could potentially break existing plugins (new blocks, items, etc as well as events for new ways to mess with inventories, for example) and thought the server was fairly stable
We only did an R2 and so on if someone found a major bug, we had a lot of built up API additions, we did some big new feature or performance work in the server, or another Minecraft release was coming soon so people could have one last marker release to stick to until they were ready to update
I don't think we ever got an R1 for 1.7

This thing is a really fancy transmission for a standard ICE vehicle but you can also hook a battery up to it and use it as an electric motor to get a hybrid system
When your ICE is providing more power than is needed it can charge the battery and when it isn't providing enough the battery can make up the difference
