@void void since you can't really easily test it automatically, ideally you'd have a tiered approach. For example: push new version to staging branch, which keeps building the image and updating the staging branch.
Then, once you feel comfortable everything works as expected, merge it to master which triggers update on prod with the same, previously built image (or rather tries to build new one, but every stage should be cached).
