I have been doing some testing and with yatopia which doesn't seem to be that good when it comes to performance, I was able to run 20 players on small area and disabled chunk loading.

One more question. What are your thoughts on Airplane? They claim it has best performance when it comes to higher number of players and that it can run on more threads. I kinda don't trust the thing with more threads but what you think? I know that most minecraft servers can utilize only one thread. I mean it does use more threads but not the way that it would improve performance and that's probably why you need CPU with good single thread performance for Minecraft server and why it doesn't matter how many cores you have.
