Hi! Random question: Does anyone know if it would be possible to mod out the effect that muffles the sound when you get hit? It's actually a pretty cool effect, but the thing is, it's too authentic. It reminds me painfully of going temporarily deaf IRL when I lost a lot of blood and nearly died.
I've been playing with the sound off for the most part to compensate, but I hate missing out on the audio.

If I'm understanding correctly, they want to remove the "muffle" sound, because that kind of muffling actually does happen to hearing in certain situations, and it bothers them.
So, whatever causes the "muffle" sound effect, they want to disable.

I'd recommend HKMP though, as it's much easier to use, and requires less game-restarting

If you want to easily do it, you can make edits and share them using DecorationMaster (in the pins of this channel).
Otherwise, it's challenging and requires proper modding / coding
The same thing applies both ways-
You can use DecorationMaster to play custom edited areas (again, in pins), and you'll probably want to lookup fireb0rn's tutorial on using it.
There's also Test of Teamwork, which is another area added similar to PoP

Mod idea: All (non essential, so like Dung Defender gets to stay) enemies and bosses... Are now just Nosk.
Inspiration behind this terrible idea: a HK tabletop I'm doing with friends where our DM has described Deepnest as "Deepnest but worse" and my mind went "okay so everything is now Nosk" so now I low-key kinda want to see a mod where the enemies are just Nosks now. I don't mean like custom sprites, I mean you walk in to fight False Knight and instead you get regular Nosk. Hornet? Nosk. Moss Charger? Nosk. Nosk? Winged Nosk to make it harder since you probably got really good at fighting Nosk to get that far.
Can I actually make this mod?: Gods, I wish.

If you've already downloaded the Mod installer and run the game once, there will be a folder called mods in your game files. Simply put mods that aren't on the installer in there
Custom Knight is the name of the mod that lets you use different skins. You will need to download skins separately. Fireborn has a guide on YouTube for how to set everything up properly

My eternal recommendation to try Randomiser if you want a truly new experience.
go to steam > right click hk > properties > local files > browse
then data > managed > mods
and place the dll in the mods folder

so i think i got these Extra Damage and Extra Enemy Health mods finished, im trying to make a "Hollow Knight NG+" playthrough. what do you guys think is a good scale for the additional health i give to enemies and bosses?
this is a graph for Dark Souls 3's NG+ cycles that i /want/ to go off, but i think a 40% increase in health on "HK NG+" would be a pretty big leap. what do you guys think?
furthermore i feel the increases after NG+ are diminishing (140% to 151% to 163% is a bit underwhelming)
i also cant decide if every time i "restart" the cycle, if i should keep masks (through save editing) and allow myself to find an additional 4 masks, or if i should stay 9 masks the entire cycles.
I'd probably look at regular vs dream versions of bosses and see what kind of % increases those include. Maybe also ascended difficulty in godhome.

i was GOING to add up all enemy health and all boss health and then average it out and consider what a decent % increase was but your idea probably just saved me hours of work.
i want it to be challenging but not boring spending 15 minutes on each boss because i put too much of a health increase.
do you think for bosses where its like, re-encountering very beginning bosses at nearly the end (HP to HS, FK to FC, MLs to SoB), that i should divide the percent increase by the nail increase from n0 to n4, keep n4 in the NG+ modes, or just add those huge outliers to the averaging pool?
for example, those bosses i put in parentheses are all 200%+ increases in health, making for a huge outlier if im trying to find an average.
I think that all depends on if you're keeping masks/nail damage. Totally changes things. Will probably just need play testing and tweaking.
so i just got done doing the average and its 107%, which is way more of an increase than im down for unless im keeping masks and nail lol
i guess a different question but still on the topic: someone told me if you start a playthrough with 9 masks save edited in, you can still get +4 masks, making 13. what happens if you start with full nail and then pay to upgrade it? does it go down from n4 to n1?
so far this is what i have: 153%, 233%, 275%, 300%, 366%, 388%, 420%
would you guys make any adjustments?

there's plenty of mods that add bosses alone, and one decent one for charms, though
try Exaltation (for charms) and Ultimatum Radiance, Inferno King Grimm, and Corrupted Kin for some high quality entry-level custom bosses.
can you play the randomizer multiplayer?
You can play MultiWorld (items shuffled among everyone's worlds), or do Randomizer races (where everyone does an independent game, but with the same Randomization).
You can do either with HKMP if you want to physically interact with other people.
so im currently playtesting a mod i had done, but i dont know much about modding.
its a mod where it does extra damage based on whatever number i set. so if i set 1, regular enemies do 2 damage, double damage enemies do 3, if i set 5, regs do 6, dubs do 7.
however, for some reason as of right now, shockwaves (like Husk Guard's) do one less damage than theyre supposed to, and i couldve sworn a falling stalactite did as well, but i havent been able to replicate it. for example, if set to 5, it will do 5 damage. not 1, not 6 or 7, but 5.
while i am interested in why this happens, my question is more, if anyone does know why, does anyone know which other attacks in the game act like this? i was hoping someone might know before i subject myself to getting hit by every enemy in the game on purpose lol

so Mosscreeps also do 1 less damage than they are supposed to. this is starting to show an amount of variety i actually like. im kinda tempted to just learn for myself in a live playthrough.
im curious as to why it happens though. maybe shockwaves and Mosscreeps and etc do .5 damage, and it just rounds up to 1 damage? its super interesting.

I was wondering: why doesn’t the modding API have things like a titlelogohelper which sfcore has? I could imagine it would improve compatibility between mods as it’s a core part of the API and it would probably be more efficient since the api can use things like patches. I feel like there are some things like that that are currently in an extra library that could just be part of the API.

Mods that feel like they could be official content are easily the best imo. Mods like Inferno King Grimm and Corrupted Kin for example.
There are very few of those right now
Test of Teamwork is also a nicely polished mod

Not entirely sure what you're asking, but the mod installer only works on 1432.
It does not currently work on any other patch.

well ive seen people say 1.5 is flat out broken lol
so i think ill stay in 1.4.3.2 if im modding anyway until 1.5 is assuredly stable
i did check 1.5 out as thoroughly as i could during a 24 hour stream and didnt find anything wrong but theres still the factor of all the mods being 1.4.3.2 anyway, and theyll probably stay that way for a while. which is mostly why i was asking if theyll be compatible with the ModInstaller 2.5

iirc milky was doing a Collo 3 challenge relatively soon after the 1.5 updated droppped and did say that the sturdy fool AI was doing some funky stuff, dont know if that got fixed, probably did tho
to be specific: coliseum miners were not throwing pickaxe/wrenches anymore (they could only melee swipe) and the super big green dudes lost their ability to charge after some condition (I think it might have been pogoing them, but they'd start to charge, and then immediately stop)

Yes. In fact, a lot of regular enemies break too. You’ll have to create scripts to patch their behaviour. Also, replacing bosses causes issues too without code to patch them in

you kinda just go back and forth. They're all lazily locking onto you, so your goal is to "stream" them from one end of the stage to the other, and turning around whenever you have a moment to do so. Hold onto your shade dash to get through the spam, ddark is a good safety measure if you feel intimidated, and don't go too far to either side because that will end with you walking right into the thick of the spam on the way back. go back and forth in the inner 6/8ths of the arena

Okay so I got an idea for a mod, idk if it's any good or if it already exists, but who knows, it might be fun :3
So it's the mantis lords fight, right? You start out by fighting one, then when that one dies, you fight two. When you end both of those, you fight three, then four, then five, all the way until you die. It'd be a challenge to see how many mantis lord waves you can survive while their numbers keep increasing by one.

Is it at all possible to mod out some of the attacks they can perform? I can imagine that when there's like 6 or 7 of them and they do their projectile attacks from the sites of the arena that it might be impossible to dodge everything

I accidently moved my Hollow Knight folder out of it's original location onto my desktop, i use the microsoft version on pc, where is it normally stored, please help, it moved my save file out
