idk, in the cinematic when you get the void heart the knight and the pure vessel look the same, so if the knight were the pure vessel instead of the original pure vessel it would look like this

idk what the right channel for this is,, (i literally just joined) but im doing my first room / item randomizer run and does the item randomiser put the mobility items near the start of the run on purpose or am i just rly lucky?

randomizer uses logic, so winning is always possible, you just got really lucky. the starting items was a prompt to randomize what items you start with

speaking of rando, i'm pretty sure i got softlocked in a rando. so i wanted to make sure i was backing up all the relevant files in order to file a proper bug report later. does anyone know if i'm missing anything? i backed up:

i mean, i would think that if i have the spoiler log, which shows where i started, what i started with, and the intended progression, that would be enough, but you never know, and i don't really know anything about modding, just programming & cs in general
I'm pretty sure the most important things are RandomizerHelperLog.txt and RandomizerTrackerLog.txt, and you need to copy them while the run itself is open.
They should include all of your settings, so that anything can be duplicated. (They may not show if you started with rando location though? I seem to remember someone asking someone else if they chose the location or used rando start).
You also want to make sure the Rando version that you're using is noted, in case it's not noted in the logs for some reason.

it's a mod that dumps sprites into individual animations (like the walk cycle) which can be imported into an animation program
there's a pin with a modified version of godump and a krita plugin that makes everything much easier

There's also some hotkeys. The most important ones:
Ctrl+Mto get all the maps! (Otherwise you must talk to Elderbug for them all)Ctrl+Gto hide/show the Helper Pins for Grubs and Essence if you don't have them randomized
Oh swag. I've only just tried rando today, a lot of these qol stuff will make things way more bearable lmao
So how far does the logic work? I know a few skips but not too many. Stuff like early Kings Brand, early Mawlek, not too much else. The tracker I was using before said mantis claw without dash was in logic, and it was but had to pogo off a flying mantis. How many instances of needing to do stuff like that are in the logic for no skips setting?
And subsequently, if I do a skip that it counts as not in logic does it know how to compensate?
Logic is based on the logic settings that you select when creating the save.
Once you click START, it's locked in.
As far as the Map Mod / HelperLog, they base everything around what you have, and where you are/have-been.
So, if you go out of logic to get a check, but still don't have the items that would allow you to go into that area, then the map/log won't say that the other checks there are available.
But if you get the item there that allows you to get there within your logical settings, then it'll say it's open now.

There are a few things in Easy logic that new players don't think about (I'm compiling a list of them, and am going to make a wiki page for them whenever I have time again), mostly involving pogoing off of BG objects. But for learning, I'd def just suggest using the RandoMap mod. It'll always show you what's available to you.
IF you don't know why something it available, just ask in #randomizer , and people will usually help you figure it out :)
Yeah, for Rando specific things you'll want to use the channel. There's people there who can help who don't hang out in the Modding channels
Cool that all makes sense! It was funny, I was like "I've 112'd Steel Soul and did P5 how hard could rando be" and then learned very quickly I didn't actually know all that much about this game LMAO. Having the map, log, and all this info already helps a ton. I also legit didn't see the rando channel until just now so my bad :x Thank you so much

Even though he playtested for me I didn't realise my mistake until he uploaded the video
I basically spawned batches of spikes every frame

Now my pc runs slower so I didnt notice it

I haven't finished it yet (I don't even think I'm that far into it), but I definitely think the difficulty in it has an odd quality. Specifically, based on what I played, I think airstalls l are required? Which seems like something that should be taught to the player if so (like a room with a lore tablet mentioning it, and then some very simple airstalls jumps).
i tested everything myself and i can't airstall, though some parts are way easier with airstalls, but they are not required

There was one jump that I was just barely missing, and I concluded that I was required to stall for it, which worked, but I was surprised that it was (seemingly) requiring that, when it otherwise felt like it was using vanilla game expectations.

HKMP uses its own skin system. There's info about it on the HKMP GitHub, as well as on the support server

You know I was seeing some stuff and I realized something, I was thinking the Fyremoth was a gameplay moddification that greatly affected things like lightbringer, sorta surprised (and slightly disappointed) that its closer to a custom knight skin
I'm pretty sure Fyremoth is both-- it was a skin idea that was being made, but the designer is working with people to make a full mod for it (to actually add flame to it)

Hey, i tried to randomized my start location with the randomizer 3 mod and two times in a row it got me stuck, i think in a wall, and i couldn't move, pause the game, open inventory, all i could have done is close the game manually, do you know if i'm doing something wrong or if it's a known bug ?

Hello. I am not much of a discord person. But I was told that this was the place to come for help on Hollow Knight Mods. I have installed only the Unnofical patch, but now I find that pressing F12 on my steam installation of it with the patch installed no longer takes screenshots. how can I get screenshots of the fixed Pure vessel Statue in Godhome?

That aside, editing existing bosses is "easier" for a large number of reasons

Why would you need that? You can just look in your inventory

You inventory will tell you how many things you got, but not which things you got.

Hi, sorry if this isn't the right channel, just wanted to confirm: there's no way (mods or otherwise) to disable/prevent yourself from earning steam achievements, is there?
I'm streaming a playthrough of the game for a friend and we've hit Godmaster stuff but I can't beat PoH yet. I'd be fine using mods to make it easier just for that playthrough, I just don't want to cheat the achievement :/

Hey guys, I search for the mod that makes collectibles shown on the map. I know there is a Rando Map mod, but it works only with Randomizer mod and I wish I could use something like that on my casual run too. Looking at Wiki where was that charm I want or where is a collectible I forgot is a bit of a pain. So I would love to have something like Rando Map mod... but for regular gameplay too. And I've seen some people wanted it too.

When Dapper is able to get the current RMM updated on github, I've been considering attempting to modify it to make a vanilla-compatible version.
I'd "just" need to change it from reading HelperLog to manage the pins, to reading the current-save info, since I'm afaik there's a bool for every pickup in the game.
I know some mods can even show on screen (I think it's only visible on stream if You set it up, but not in game itself) if You have a pickup etc, because it reads that data from the game

In terms of expense, I could see 4 notch. Anything higher and new players wouldn't want to sacrifice all of their notches to just that.
3 would probably be best, not that it would be appropriately balanced, but because it's in a more flexible number to be used with other charms

I would think so? The notch cost is stored in saves, so I imagine that you could just rewrite it on the fly. It probably only reloads at certain points though

Talking about costs has got me thinking about the idea of a mod that rebalances all charms to cost <=2 notches (so, every charm costs 1 or 2 notches, and the intent of the charm is maintained, but it's altered to be balanced at the new cost)
Maybe also one that makes them upgradeable back to their original state or beyond.
I'd not want to reduce the effects of charms, instead why not allow players to select a "class" at the beginning and then only charms belonging to that class are cheaper ( but others are more expensive )

copy paste the Save File directory if you're in windows in the search bar or just go there otherwise
once you're there just rename your save slot user#.dat to a # that is 1-4
so if it's user6.dat, and you want it in slot 3, just rename it to user3.dat
@cinder stratus Fwiw, you can just set anything that you can't click, as a keybind. That's what I do, that way I can use Moresaves
Keybinds don't have an option to get more geo. How do you expect me to live without it

Blackmoth mod seems to make dirtcarvers drop around 70 geo each
But only when I kill them, if they die like by falling in spikes they'll drop the normal 6 geo

Either could be true. HKMP has basic skin support
Dandy worked on it for a bit until they got it into a pretty solid state, and then Extremelyd1 got it added, and slightly tweaked for performance and networking.
Dandy has a lot of of other neat ideas and was working on more stuff related to skins, but they are outside of the scope of HKMP itself, and it doesn't currently have an API for add-on mods to use.

I recently just downloaded some mods and would like to make skins using Krita, the plugin is downlaoded and so is the modified GODump but I am not quite sure what to do next to quarantee that the program finds the knight sprites
As long as you installed the Krita plugin, and restarted Krita, you should have the option to open the sprites.
Iirc, the plugin automatically looks for them in the correct place in APPDATA, so that's where you would need to have put the one that you downloaded (or navigate to it). The modified GODUMP specifically makes the files that work with Krita, so if the one you downloaded wasn't designed for Krita, then it may not work.
As far a dumping the files goes:
Make sure only GoDump is loaded (and any dependencies if it requires any), then follow the ReadMe instructions, but make sure that you wait a bit after any image-related step (iirc you just press the F# buttons in order, but you need to give time for each step). If you only want the Knight sprites, then I can possibly send you a copy of the Krita version when I get on my computer in a bit

So ummm... this is a bit confusing. Frame1 is the group folder for maskitaso/custom Knight/Paint layer and I dont know how to make it into 1 frame
Afaik, you have to right click and select add empty frame for each one you want to add

- eventually remove the head entirely, so that the blank head can be added to the "head layer", or a different one could be added
- eventually repeat for other parts (or just for the head. There's already a breast endless about of potential customization with that)
a version of it is being used right now for eyes, if we dont select a base sprite ,remixer will use a sprite that does not have default eyes so that the selected eyes can be applied
and yes that is the idea, currently considering adding support for horns / head

Is there a faster way to fix the "repeated files below this collection are modified" problem without doing it manually? (Using spritepacker)
Not really - that's the program asking which version of the sprites you want to keep, and there isn't any way to make it do all of them at once or whatever
so i just have to go to the knight folder choose the idle and then scroll down to another section move the og knight into a backup folder and copy paste the new idle knight sprite and rename it?

You can and should replace on sprite packer! You click the name of the sprite you want and click replace ( check button has turned into replace)

I see, so if it gives me the error I just click my custom knight and click replace and the og knight will become it
I have now packed the sprite and renamed it Knight in atlas, although now I'm unsure what to do next

yep I was able to move the file into the Managed/Mods/Custom Knight place
Now there's sadly 1 more problem that the last frame of the idle animation is still the knight. The 9th frame is a held 8th frame but the idle Knight sprite had only 8 frames
Are you sure you didn't save over your edited sprite while messing with spritepacker? Try reexporting that last frame?
Held frames should be the same sprite on the sheet, and work automatically in game
When I use krita the held frame is like a separate one from the 8th
It seems spritemaker doesn't do the same thing with the 8th frame as the game, which is why it looks normal
I need to get the last frame of idle and run into a held frame that I'll replace the broken ones with

i'm not super familiar with making and repacking sprites, but what could be happening is this :
certain sprites are used by multiple animations , in case you have not yet modified all sprites that godump generated, it is possible one of your frames is being overwritten by the default frame from another animation
if that is what is happening, I'd suggest to add the sprite manually using krita for now, perhaps using the boxes on another layer as a guide.
okay, I'm relieved it isn't a problem with the frame file itself, so I'll eventually reach a point where I can simply copy paste the 8th idle frame onto that one

that's because of 3 reasons
1 the "no eye knight" sprite that i made was made using a white square as eyes in the tool
2 i used an eye without transparency
and 3 i didnt select clip eyes mode 😛

though i rescale the pngs to 34 x 44 , i have not yet found the right resolution of eyes for ideal renders

I was watching a video recently and someone got soul (for seemingly no apparent reason) while falling through the elevator shaft on the way to Ancient Basin. A specific example can be seen here: https://youtu.be/xOZYIrOYGHA?t=12148 Though it has occurred in other parts of the video as well I believe, again in this elevator shaft. Is this possibly a bug with mods?
