question about the Hollow Point mod. How do I do the desolate dive/something similar? i just wanted to know if it just takes me equiping something that gives me a class and then it basically lets me break the ground, or if theres something special

So for anyone from #art-discussion who wants a Palewatch Mod, there's a couple problems i currrently have, besides not know how to code yet:
- I dont own the game on PC, i own it on Xbox One which cant be modded.
- I'd need alot of character models i don't have and i'm not an animator
- I am only 13, what do you expect?
- S c h o o l. Aka i probably wont have the time to code it.

Well. I heavily disagree with that sentiment based purely on age. If they want to work on a mod, even a big one, they can and should feel capable of doing so.
It's just them admitting that they have big hurdles to get over that tells me that they may want to start small.

@full apex Do a lot of reading, find a group to ask questions to. DM me if you need advice, but don't ask general programming questions in #archived-modding-development since that gets old real quick. (We want to help modders mod the game but that's different from teaching people to program.) Practice with some small programs or mods and don't feel pressured to do any one thing over another. If you want this to be a hobby, make it one.

I was previously using the AirBrush from Sai with 11 density and 15 size, but, after looking through Void beings' sprites, I found that using ~20 size and 5 density makes it look closer to them.
Another interesting fact is that, although it seems like their eyes have a shining effect, only the Siblings and the Shade Lord seem to have the effect, with the Knight's Shade and the Collector only having white eyes in the sprites 👍

i mean, other mods such as hollow point make the game harder, but only because there are different mechanics
I'm aware, I was just hoping for a mod that makes HK harder, but not quite as hard as Hell mod.
Hell mod just kinda makes the game more tedious imo, nerfing nail damage gets boring after a while
To me it's not the damage nerf, it's the amount of damage that got nerfed
Half is quite a lot
And losing 4 masks from any explosive or heavy hitting enemy is annoying as hell

- Enemies won't be synchronized (currently, no multiplayer mod does this). It is a feature being looked into/worked on though.
- Skins are able to be used (although currently out only supports the Knight itself, not spells)

Currently only from the GitHub. It'll eventually be added to the Mod Installer, but probably not until updates slow down

using one superflash made to pull spritesheets then deleting everything on them
only exceptions that i keep are rng related attacks (or in the case of pv i kept the dagger throw since the particles made it easy to see anyways with no hitbox confusion

collecter is a lot more simple dont jump like a maniac and look for where he lands hell jump over you. havent tried sly but im sure theres a way to do it
invisible sly is easy, collectore might be annoying
parrying is a move thats useful vs sly
or just listening to sound cues and hitting at the right time

If it's earlier then that'd be helpful. I never noticed all the audio timing cues since the randomized sfx always throws me off from trying to use that. I guess I have a new thing to work on.
wait, would grimmchild be a legitimate strategy with invisible enemies since it'd give you a rough indicator of where they are? especially for some more annoying floaters like Galien or maybe hu. I've only done inviso HK so I don't know what does or doesn't show up

There is a bug with nosk where sometimes the round will not go to the next but only for the first round, just going back and restarting the trial should fix. If the enemies are coming too early, restart the trial this is a bug.

I also gotta learn how to heal properly in that fight. A lot of the time I just give up and try to kill him before I die since I can't ever seem to heal without taking more damage

i dont like steady body it throws my game off
I don't like not having steady body. It lets me attack properly at max range without worrying about being pushed back into hitboxes, like during pv's swords.
i dont use it cause its useful for positioning during invis boss fights

If you're turning the mods off go to your steam install, right click and find "Verify integrity of game files"

A discussion about Weaver Core came up in another server, and two main points came up there:
- The button is just kinda visually awkward
- The inability to use it during gameplay means that it can't be used for things like Multiplayer or Benchwarp.
Would it be feasible to let mod authors decide for each setting of it was available during gameplay or not? That might fix your original concern.
Try to find a spot for the button that doesn't interfere with well-known mods like debug, benchwarp, and ofc HKMP
A good place to place it is for example down middle

As the only thing there are the console for debugmid which most people dont use
Sorry for the late response, at work so I don’t have many opportunities to use my phone. I got a few ideas to fix some of the issues
I can turn the button into a hamburger menu that takes up less space, and when the mouse hovers over it, it will expand to show the name of the button.
I can relocate it down towards the bottom-right where it is less likely to conflict with other UIs
And I should be able to introduce an attribute so certain properties can be changed during the game in the pause menu, but may take some time.

@steady elbow If you're not the main maintainer for Benchwarp, then sorry for the ping:
Would it be possible to get a similar treatment for Benchwarp in a future update, where the whole UI can be collapsed into one button?
Possibly also add an optional interaction with WeaverCore, where Benchwarp could be inside of a WeaverCore page (Although I'm unsure if that functionality is realistic based on how many buttons are in BW).
The menu is already almost entirely collapsible by enabling "Warp Only" and disabling "Enable Deploy" from the settings. I don't know what more could be done other than reducing that from two clicks to one, which doesn't seem very important.
No plans for interactions with WeaverCore.

I keep it in Warp Only, and keep everything collapsed (deploy is there, because of Grim tent), but the problem is that even with these settings, the buttons scroll along the entire top of the screen just by being on. And this isn't even accounting for "Set Start" which is on the side.
This just seems like something that could be potentially addressed in some way, especially considering that a lot of the time, the only button needed feels like it's Warp to instantly warp back to the previous bench.
That being said, I understand that having the whole thing default as collapsed into another button might be annoying for some people. I largely just like the idea of seeing mods not inherently take up so much UI space, especially ones that are actively maintained, since there's less likelyhood of other mods being updated to take up less space.

On the "bright side", Benchwarp itself seems to be usually underneath other menus, so when there's overlap, it's usually the other menu that is clicked on, instead of Benchwarp; so making BW collapse wouldn't really fix that.
I absolutely support this, fwiw.
I'm pretty sure I've seen you mention the idea before, and it came up as well in the similar discussion that I had in the HKMP server. But I also understand the idea of not wanting the API itself to do anything that it doesn't have to, so-to-speak.
My thinking that the API won't support it, due to it not being really required within the scope of an API, is what makes me really want to see more mods potentially using WeaverCore.

It's not really a big deal, I dont want to use the debug mod or hp bars because I'm recording a video, so I just wanted to have the remain health values on the other screen to see how close I am to beat it

With the randomizer does it randomize with progression in mind or does it just put shit wherever?
It enforces that you can logically beat the seed. In other words: it won't put claws in a spot you need claws to get to.
This is tweakable by checking what skips you want on.

heyo, so a friend and I are doing area randomizers, and I was curious if anyone had a list of what every individual area is? (not like greenpath, dirtmouth, but like those areas split up like how deepnest is like 4(?) areas)

not sure if anyone really cares, but something i've noticed with a few skins have weird......stray pixels, or white outlines. they may be hard to spot in something like a photo viewer, but they do show up in game, and this started with the hornet knight skin actually, in the daughter of hallownest modpack.
So, in my spare time, i went ahead, and began to clean them up, remove the stray pixels, and even remove the white outlines. And i have gotten permission from to reshare, as long as i give credit
however, i recently moved over to a desktop, and any progress made was lost, but don't worry, im back to work fixing the sprites up, and in a few days, i'll have the skin ready to upload
to give an idea on what i mean about stray pixels
by setting up a 2nd underlayer, and setting the bucket to fill in a certain way, these stray pixels are very easy to notice

set the skin layer to lock the transparency and color the stray white outlines black

those spots you see there are stray pixels. they're very transparent, but you can see them in-game if you look hard enough

luckily im 99.9% sure my skins dont. i checked so many times to see if theres any stupid ass white outlines so yeah
removing the white outlines is fairly simple
select the magic brush tool, set its tolerance to 0, and set the sampling style to image, and not layer. select empty space, and delete
that does work, but it makes the edge of the image crispy

that can be a bug in base game actually
you can get it by doing the isma's tear damage early control and closing the tutorial so you gain control right as you enter the acid. The same can also be done with an inventory drop.

For fireball skips, a mod that made the knight turn a certain color on facing a certain direction while airborne (in this case right, but it would be nice to have the ability to set which direction in a config file or debug option). The idea is you'd be able to see how much time you're spending drifting in the wrong direction as you attempt a turnaround fireball

For fireball skips, turning the knight a certain color when fireball is off CD. Basically, to show if you're wasting frames in between double fireballs.

In a perfect world, these would be things I could turn off/on in Debug Mode itself but I'm fine having to do it through manually editing a config file if that's easier for the modder.
I know next to nothing about modding this game, so I have no idea if these mods are as simple as they sound to me, or maybe even if equivalents already exist. More info is welcome!

Perhaps I worded it poorly, but there's no need to actually detect that a skip is being practiced. It would just be checking simple conditions in the game state and applying a color change if the detection returns true; that being said, I don't know how simple/not it is for colors to be applied to the Knight in this way
im not sure when dash/fireball comes off cd. if it's off cd as soon as the fireball/dash animation is done, you could make a custom skin so the knight is a weird color except when it's doing the dash/fireball animation. that's contingent on if it's off cd when the anim is done though
i think you could also just have it set for when it detects a dash input it changes your color for however long the cooldown is

though i havent messed with modding for more than 24 hours so i still don't know what i do and don't have easy access to change

And the other two working ones are both "game but ranged".

debug allows you to set your abilities, make save states to redo stuff, change damage, noclip/invincibility/infinite soul/health and some other stuff too
