you don't need to downpatch hk to get mods, just use the latest patch but not the beta it recently got, and if you installed the beta, go in the public betas on steam and switch back to 1.5.78

Oh, my bad, I genuinely didn’t know about that. I wasn’t trying to break any rules or cause issues. I’m still pretty new to this and didn’t realize that modding isn’t supported on p word copies or that it’s against the community guidelines to discuss it. Thanks for explaining it clearly. I won’t ask about it again, and I’ll look into getting a supported version if I want to mod the game later.

yo if anyone can help lmk. So im using a mod called "Auto Quest Ender" that basically automatically ends Wishes when you accept them. Turns out the mod feature of ignoring boss wishes doesn't work, and it did just skip some bosses. This was fine up until Pinmaster in which case it skipped the boss and didn't give me the award. Can anyone let me know if theres a mod that lets you replay wishes or something to that effect?

Starting Pale Court

  • Install it using Lumafly
  • You must have ||All dreamers||
  • You must have ||defeated a specific boss:|| ||White Defender||
  • You must then find the location that connects each Knight to the world. You can watch the Launch Trailer if you want directions where to go.

Known problems with Pale Court

  • HKTool and WeaverCore are not compatible with Pale Court (or each other)
  • AdditionalMaps, Extra MenuBackgrounds, EssenceAlways (and any mod that attempts to force Essence drops) aren't compatible, and will prevent you from being able to enter fights.
  • Using a BenchWarp Deployed Bench in new areas will break the file
    • If you accidentally do this, then close the game, disable Benchwarp, then open the file again. Get off the bench you spawn at, and sit down again. Then save+quit, and you should be able to enable Benchwarp again.
    • Alternatively, you can open your user#.modded.json for that file, and edit "atDeployedBench": true, -> "atDeployedBench": false, . You can type ?tag savefaq for more information.
  • HK Vocalized may prevent you from accessing fights
    • (This appears to not be consistently reproducible, but if you can't enter fights, then try disabling it)
  • Skill Upgrades will prevent Charms from working correctly
  • Hollow Point will not work if Pale Court is installed
  • Any mod that adds new Charms may prevent Charms from working.

If you're having other issues, then please read #1090079233520451714 and create a #1057825333841240104 post with the requested info and any details. Be aware that Pale Court was not designed to be compatible with other mods, and you will usually need to choose between using either Pale Court or the other mod(s).

Turns out you can mix some of those Phantom mods together to make some crazy bosses.

#

Like Phantom of The Organ (Mainly just increases speed) paired with Revenant Phantom (New attacks, spawns Wraiths everywhere) just makes infinite Wraith spam. Mixing Phantom of The Organ with Faded Phantom (New attacks, a lot more double damage) just makes Phantom a nigh-unbeatable speed demon.

If you really wanna be a masochist, throw all 3 of these in with Silken Sisters to add Lace into the equation, then you've got yourself something on the level of Any Radiance.

u need customknight mod, u install it, then im pretty sure u need to run the game so that the skins folder gets created in the customknight mod folder, then u go to any google drive page, you click here then download, then unzip the folder and then move it to custom knight folder -> skins folder -> then u have all the skins in there, including default one. make sure once u click on the actual skin folders, that they show whatever things they change in the game, because if u have another folder inside the folder (like having another default skin folder in the actual default skin folder) it will not work correctly and it will not apply the mod.

then u go in the game, options, mods, check for ccustom knight and u can select ur skin from there

Hollow Knight Crashes upon opening after installing mods ⚠️

This error can happen for several reasons. Read through all of the common ones below to see which might apply to you.

  • "Hollow Knight isn't responding"
    • This isn't actually a crash, you just need to wait and let the game load. This is common with mods that have a lot of Pre-loading (like Pale Court, Enemy Randomizer, WeaverCore, and mods that load a lot of skins/audio).
  • Your game patch doesn't match your installer
    • Modding is now done on patch 1.5.78+, required by all current installers. If you're on Steam, make sure your Beta is set to "None"
    • "Mod Installer" (Zote) and Mod Installer 2 work with version 1.4.3.2, and should no longer be used. Tutorials saying to use these are outdated.
    • There aren't installers for other patches, like 1.2.2.1. For speedrunning mod help, type ?tag 1221 into chat for more info.
  • Something didn't install correctly
    • Right-Click the installer, and select "Run as Administrator"
    • Ensure that the installer isn’t in a .zip file (if you got it as a .zip, you'll need to Extract it)
    • Make sure that the Installer is out of your Downloads folder
  • You're on Linux/Steamdeck
    • Add -force-opengl to the steam launch options.
  • Your game is cracked/pirated hollowpirate
    • Piracy is not supported in most communities for games, and discussing it is against Discord Community Guidelines. Mods aren't considered compatible with pirated copies, which will not get support in the main servers.
    • Modding is only supported on the official computer versions from Steam/GoG/Xbox Games.
    • If you do not have a supported version, please get one and you will get support with modding. Requesting help with unsupported versions may result in moderation action.

If you're going to correct people, then I feel like what you say should make sense? I've never seen anyone use "Texture" to refer to anything other than when an image is applied to a 3D object. So the images used to reskin the player in Minecraft are textures (and this is why it has Texture Packs).

While Hollow Knight is technically a game in 3D space, it does not use 3D models at all, and thus does not use texture files. 2D games use Sprites, also known as Sprite Sheets, Sprite Atlases, or simply Atlases (depending somewhat on the context).

Starting Pale Court

  • Install it using Lumafly
  • You must have ||All dreamers||
  • You must have ||defeated a specific boss:|| ||White Defender||
  • You must then find the location that connects each Knight to the world. You can watch the Launch Trailer if you want directions where to go.

Known problems with Pale Court

  • HKTool and WeaverCore are not compatible with Pale Court (or each other)
  • AdditionalMaps, Extra MenuBackgrounds, EssenceAlways (and any mod that attempts to force Essence drops) aren't compatible, and will prevent you from being able to enter fights.
  • Using a BenchWarp Deployed Bench in new areas will break the file
    • If you accidentally do this, then close the game, disable Benchwarp, then open the file again. Get off the bench you spawn at, and sit down again. Then save+quit, and you should be able to enable Benchwarp again.
    • Alternatively, you can open your user#.modded.json for that file, and edit "atDeployedBench": true, -> "atDeployedBench": false, . You can type ?tag savefaq for more information.
  • HK Vocalized may prevent you from accessing fights
    • (This appears to not be consistently reproducible, but if you can't enter fights, then try disabling it)
  • Skill Upgrades will prevent Charms from working correctly
  • Hollow Point will not work if Pale Court is installed
  • Any mod that adds new Charms may prevent Charms from working.

If you're having other issues, then please read #1090079233520451714 and create a #1057825333841240104 post with the requested info and any details. Be aware that Pale Court was not designed to be compatible with other mods, and you will usually need to choose between using either Pale Court or the other mod(s).

i am having a great deal of trouble, Is anyone else having trouble with the mods not working at all just out of no where? I have done all things you would recommend from verifying game files, to removing bepinex and readding it, uninstalling and reinstalling silksong totally, even trying each mod i used 1 by 1 nothing works. the F1 menu doesnt even show up in game.

Any help in the right direction would be so helpful.

I have done all things you would recommend from verifying game files, to removing bepinex and readding it, uninstalling and reinstalling silksong totally,
To be clear, the thing that would be recommended is to be using one of the installers, as mentioned in the pins.

the F1 menu doesnt even show up in game.
Assuming you're using the correct version of Bepinex, which is found in the Silksong section of Thunderstore, F1 won't do anything unless you also installed the Configuration Manager mod

  • Mods do not normally prevent you from getting Achievements. However, since a recent Steam update, some players report not obtaining them.
    • If you are missing achievements, opening the game in vanilla and setting at a bench may sync them again. You can also get them using the HollowKnightAchievementManager mod.
    • If you want to prevent them, you can use the Disable Achievements mod.
    • If a mod changes/removes something that's part of an achievement trigger, such as skipping something with QoL, then you won't get that achievement. Some mods that rely on SFCore such as Hallownest Vocalized can sometimes prevent achievements from working.
  • In some cases, achievements are still earned, but the pop-ups do not come up when modding.

HKMP (Hollow Knight Multiplayer)

How it works

HKMP puts a copy of each player into each other players world.
Enemies have separate health and will usually be in different places; Items/abilities must be collected separately; and Breakable objects must be broken by each player. Player attacks happen in each player's world, damaging any enemies/players it comes in contact with. A player is only hurt by the enemies in their own world. This page explains how you can use other mods and addons to synchronize some aspects, and improve your experience.
