So I just beat the third boss in Death's Gambit: Afterlife and this game is so good. It's perfectly scratching that Hollow Knight itch and it's just pure Metroidvania bliss with lots of Dark Souls inspiration but enough mechanics and design choices to separate it from its counterparts. Also, the voice acting, music and art are all superb and the story is quite good so far. Would recommend.

overall you can easily branch out from 2 hand ooga booga at the start to "#1 harry potter fan" by end game

generally for first time players knight is best, but for stat optimisation i usually prefer going deprived

also equip the young white branch as your starting item, everything else is super easy to get anyway and the branch just makes a certain section of an early area much safer

yeah. Its usually one affects an enemy more then another and vice versa

GW2 kinda did something different at least
Poison = decent tick damage, reduces their healing, has the longest duration to lose the stacks
Bleeding = lowest damage amongst the 3, but has the highest stack capability, offset it loses stack faster than poison
Burning = extremely high burst damage but has the lowest stack you can add, and the stack duration is very short (so its more valued as burst damage)

builds that do this are called "Condi" or "Condition" builds, and their gameplay is to stack all 3 elements as much as possible to keep damage uptime, and tend to be more demanding as you need to learn rotations

vs to other straight forwards builds where you use this skill, then spam this one, then weave other abilities inbetween, rinse repeat

overall yeah DOT is such an overlap in a lot of RPGs

yeah, i know its not gonna measure up to NV

so i just went in with the mindset of "Dont expect me to full RP in this, instead, think of it as me playing a predetermined parent trying to find their son in Fallout themed Far Cry game"

kinda like how i cant really "roleplay" in more linear shooters like Bioshock

and so far it really works well, im not paying too much heed to the dialogue as i let the settlement building and shooting do the fun for me

oh and the exploration

going around Boston is really fun, compared to the empty desert of the Mojave

Guns are unusable if you’re not a gunslinger. Melee is suicide if you don’t have a build for it

but yeah im talking more in a "feels" department, NV has its merits in terms of gameplay ever since they added stuff like DT, and it was fun to optimize it, but if were talking what i feel like it plays fun, id go F4 >>>> NV for that department

kinda like people saying Morrowind has complex combat, which i can see, especially with the amount of stuff you can break if you have the right skills, but my god for me it just looks like shit
