Tbh the game that will mechanically have the most similarities to SS is Sekiro. Not combat wise, but the tool and prosthetic system are almost directly analgous, as are the spells and combar arts, currency-loss mechanics, etc. The games have lots in common in terms of their systems

• designing games with more features is hard, from the environments, to the world, to the mechanics and it isnt just limited to just "draw more sprites"

also Graig mentioned theyre using PlayermakerFSM a lot less, PFSM is what made them code a lot of shit quickly but ended up being a massive resource hog

You consume a resource to cast an attack, and just because of that they HAVE to be stronger than the usual nail/needle attacks, otherwise what’s the point of using them?
